Why does a restaurant with a beer garden close during the summer?

I'd gladly go back. Delicious food. Comfortable seating. Major drawback: terrible parking situation. It's best to park at Forsthaus 1 and shop in under 10 minutes.

We had three different dishes. A Cordon Bleu with fries, which tasted fantastic; Königsberger Klopse (a German meatball with meatballs) with rice and salad. The sauce lacked a bit of acidity for my taste, but otherwise it was very good. Finally, we had the Lion Ribs with fries and salad. The ribs were OK, the BBQ sauce was spicy, and the ribs could have been a bit more tender. The portions were large, though, and overall, they represented very good value for money!

A great team who enjoy their work. The food was good, and we didn't have to wait long for it.

Quite nice inside, but unfortunately unbearable outside with the constant announcements of the food delivery numbers over a poor system. We were brought to our table by a very unpleasant man with far too much talking and patting. I've rarely felt so uncomfortable. To top it all off, the food was cold. I'll never go there again. Addendum for anyone who appreciates paid-for leftover food and doesn't want it thrown away: They charge €1 for a cardboard takeaway container. Completely outdated.

The classic Swabian cuisine leaves nothing to be desired: from spaetzle to onion roast beef to Kaiserschmarrn, everything is there. The fresh, delicious salads were a particularly pleasant surprise. You can sit here for a while, feel comfortable, and it's also child-friendly. All in all, a fun place!

We visited the Waldhaus for the first time last Saturday in glorious summer weather. It's a very large beer garden with plenty of space. You have to get your own food and drinks, but that's not a problem. The Waldhaus isn't a culinary highlight, but it's a decent beer garden.

Self-service, friendly owners, the Weitmann family, and staff, large portions, excellent food, children can run around to their heart's content, parking is rather limited

Cozy restaurant and beer garden next to the tennis courts. Food and drinks can be ordered directly at the cash register. It's self-service. The food is OK, and the seating is comfortable, especially in hot weather under the large umbrellas.

It's self-service, but the food is really good. I find the prices a bit high. For children, there's a great playground with three trampolines.

A beautiful, rustic, forest-lodge-style restaurant with very friendly and welcoming staff and a large, idyllic beer garden. The food is particularly delicious: whether schnitzel, cordon bleu, Maultaschen (swabian pasta), or the fresh salad – everything was excellent. This restaurant is especially ideal for families: There's a huge children's area with a playground and trampoline, making it the perfect place for a relaxing break in the countryside!

We discovered it by chance on our way to Stuttgart, as we were looking for a place for the kids to let off some steam. And we weren't disappointed. We were immediately greeted warmly by Amore, the friendly gentleman who keeps track of bookings and knows which tables are still free. Orders and payments are made directly at the counter, and drinks are served right away. The food arrived pretty quickly, was hot, and very tasty. There's a children's menu, and the portions were very generous for both. A plus point, of course, was the super friendly service, who constantly asked if everything was okay, as well as the large outdoor area with lots of great play options for the kids.

One of the best German restaurants I’ve ever been to! As soon as you walk in you’ll love the decor very traditionally German, but super cozy with a great vibe. The atmosphere was amazing. There was a nice mix of people younger folks in their 20s and 30s, families, couples Just everyday people enjoying a good meal. It felt really welcoming. There’s seating both inside and outside. The indoor space is big and open, and even in the summer it pretty cool and not too hot, which I really appreciated. So when we walked in, we were greeted by Amore, and wow his energy was so positive, upbeat, and genuinely friendly. I really love this guy. You don’t often get that kind of warm welcome in German restaurants. It really set the tone for the whole experience. The service overall was fantastic. The waitstaff was super friendly, and you could tell the whole team works well together. Everyone was professional but relaxed, and the vibe was just really family friendly and warm. Now the food absolutely incredible. I had the schnitzel, and honestly, it was the best I’ve had in all my time in Germany. Perfectly tender, juicy, and not greasy at all. My partner had the Rostbraten with Spätzle also delicious. I’d give it a thousand stars if I could. I’m already planning to come back here for my birthday. Great restaurant with a fantastic beer garden. The food is excellent, I highly recommend it. Unfortunately, it's only accessible by car or bus (for those who are lazy on foot), but it's also great for families with children, as they have a great outdoor area to let off steam.

The breading on the cordon bleu was okay. The mushroom cream sauce was okay, and the spaetzle was nothing special. But the service was very friendly and enthusiastic.

Yes, the atmosphere is a bit like a clubhouse, but that's also because the sports fields are right next door. What's really great is that there are great play areas (trampolines, climbing frame, huge sandpit, swings, calisthenics elements, etc.) right next to the seating. In terms of service, Amore is obviously fantastic; he's very friendly, funny, and really knows his stuff. No long waits; after ordering, he'll bring you drinks and hand you a buzzer for your food, which doesn't take long, even if it's for house music. In the adjacent forest in various directions, there are great excursion options (rubble mountain, wild boar enclosure, a little further on, the red deer enclosure and Bärenschlössle, the Heslach waterfalls), playgrounds, and the Heslach forest home isn't far away either, so you can go on lovely hikes and fit in Weitmann's as you please. The costs are absolutely reasonable.

It took too long to wait for food. Probably because of a public holiday and difficulty in obtaining personnel. Only had drinks.

Great service. The whole team is super nice, the food is delicious and the portions are large. Despite the store being full on May 1st, the organization was top notch. Space inside and outside, playground for the kids. Armore simply takes great care of everyone.

We stopped here after a hike. The day was sunny, the restaurant was very busy, the waiting time was >1 hour, which was communicated to us when we ordered. The portions were large and tasty. The innkeeper Amore welcomes and says goodbye to each guest personally. The location is in the middle of greenery. All in all: absolute recommendation!

We have been to this restaurant many years ago. At that time it was under different management and we were very satisfied. Back then it was always fully booked or there was a closed company. The new owner is not very open-minded and doesn't smile. He's always at the checkout. When “Amore” (an employee who calls himself that and has been there before) sees the guests, he greets them as lovingly as he can. With “Darling, how are you?” "Do you need a special table?" etc... But the contrast comes at the checkout. "What would you like?" "Aside from that?" Incidentally, I noticed a conversation between the owner and a friend or acquaintance in which the boss said that he was disappointed that so few people came today, even though the weather was great. Is the good mood only there when the money is flowing? The food has always been great and very tasty. Nothing has changed! The kids think the playground is great, you can hardly find such a well-kept playground in a restaurant or beer garden!

Amore! This is an absolute hidden gem for families (and others) to experience authentic German cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere with great outdoor play facilities for the little ones. The owner has rock star personality and the team was so welcoming and fun to be around. Extra wishes due to food allergies were accommodated with understanding and no fuss. Have been twice during our stay and we'll be back next time! Danke euch!

Difficult... so far mostly ok to satisfied. This week it was really bad: the fries for the schnitzel were cold, the dressing for the salad was too salty and the carrot salad has definitely seen better days (it shouldn't be served so sour/"tilted" anymore). Pork fillet with hash browns: 1. it wasn't a fillet and 2. it was just tough and 3. it had canned/jar mushrooms. Absolutely disappointing! When asked about this, the (otherwise really nice!) service person only said “ok”. Hopefully it was just a bad day for everyone, we'll give it another try but if it happens again, it'll be the last try.

Unsere Kinder hatten eine tolle Zeit, da es an Spielmöglichkeiten einfach an nichts fehlt. Es ist schön zu sehen, wie sehr hier an die kleinen Gäste gedacht wird. Der Service war überragend – wir fühlten uns von Anfang an wie Stammgäste. Das Personal war unglaublich freundlich, aufmerksam und herzlich. Man merkt, dass hier mit Leidenschaft gearbeitet wird. Auch das Essen hat uns alle überzeugt. Die Qualität der Speisen war top, und es war für jeden etwas dabei, egal ob groß oder klein. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder und können dieses Restaurant allen wärmstens empfehlen, die einen schönen, entspanntes Essen mit der Familie verbringen möchten.

A gem... we have lived in Stuttgart West for over 20 years and were only in the Waldhaus for the first time last Sunday. We wanted to test the beer garden three months ago. But then there was a private party and we left again...on Sunday we spontaneously drove there for lunch and were greeted very, very warmly by Amore m, a super cool, friendly guy, and alone, that's why we recommend a visit there. The drinks are picked up by yourself, the food is chosen and everything is paid for. The food is brought to the table and it was fantastic! Sufficiently large portions that fill you up, super-friendly staff and Amore is always looking after you and makes sure that everything fits and everyone feels comfortable... thank you very much 😊 we'll be happy to come back! A little tip, maybe don't clear the plates until everyone at the table has finished eating, but otherwise five full stars from us! And in spring we'll test out the great beer garden!

I had the pleasure of visiting the restaurant recently and all I can say is it was a wonderful experience! As soon as you enter you are greeted by a warm and stylish ambience that immediately relaxes you. The atmosphere is really beautifully designed, with great attention to detail and a perfect mix of coziness and elegance. The food was absolutely delicious! Every bite showed how much emphasis is placed on quality and fresh ingredients. There was a large selection to suit every taste, and the dishes were not only a highlight in terms of taste, but also visually. I particularly liked that there is a playground for children outside - a paradise for families. The little ones had fun while we were able to concentrate on eating in peace. A big compliment also to the team: The employees were very friendly, attentive and always tried to make every guest feel comfortable. The boss himself was incredibly nice and personally asked about our well-being. This warmth and hospitality really make the visit a special experience. Overall, a completely successful concept that I can only recommend to everyone. You just feel welcome here and can have a great time - definitely a place I would like to come back to!

The restaurant is very nicely decorated and everything looks very harmonious. The selection of food is sufficient. I myself had the Maultschen with potato salad and onions. They were very good. The staff is also very, very friendly and you feel welcome. We also went outside in the summer.

The food is ok. Also considering the price, it's difficult to understand the whispering when the numbers are announced. I only go there during the week, and when the weather is good, it's relatively quiet inside and people can sit outside. If there isn't enough going on, food is sometimes brought out. The clearing is rather intrusive. You're still eating when the young lady stops next to you and then takes the plate with you. Not that you have to run again. The little older Italian is particularly friendly to the guests.

At the entrance there was a board with the daily meal. We overlooked these and ordered from the menu. Unfortunately we were not made aware of the daily menu. As we were leaving the restaurant we discovered this card. There were four dishes on it. Three of them would have been in our selection to order.

Unfortunately you have to go to the counter and place your order yourself. The service staff are not to blame for the poor service rating, but rather the fact that you have to leave the table for every product and order at the counter.

Lots of space - especially outside with a large playground for the children, nice, fast team, good and plentiful food - mostly self-service, which usually works great. Unfortunately, there is also a "fixed fee for changes", which sometimes has a strange effect when you have an extra 2.50 euros on the bill for cream instead of gravy on the children's spaetzle...

So here the price/performance ratio is just right and you will receive a very friendly welcome and farewell! You'll be happy to come back there.

Went there for the first time today, stopped by by chance. Access to the car park today is quite narrow and busy, probably because of a sporting event (clubhouse). The reception (you are seated) by “Amore” (boss?) was very exuberant, but not unpleasant. The system explained to us: choose your dish from the menu and order at the checkout, where you also have to pay for the drinks from the self-service. You receive a receipt for the food and the order number is announced over the loudspeaker when it is ready for collection. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I had the impression that it was quite loud inside (little soundproofing?). There are some sheltered places outside under a pergola, and many more in the garden. We found it unpleasant that the tables were too high in relation to the (quite comfortable) garden chairs. The chairs sink a little into the gravel floor. Outside there is a larger playground for kids with a sandpit, slide and swings etc. We thought it was good that there were comparatively few dishes on the menu. These dishes are supplemented by around 5 daily specials. According to “Amore”, the dishes on the menu change every 3 months. We had Maultaschen with potato salad including a small side salad - tasted good, decent portion, freshly prepared. We paid around €40 for the food and two drinks (Radler 0.5 liter bottle). Okay for us. If we could suggest an improvement, it would be to replace the loudspeaker announcements of food to be picked up with pagers. The announcements are sometimes very difficult to understand, especially when you are having a lively conversation... The glasses and plates are cleared away by restaurant employees, but it can take a while. In view of the omnipresent staff shortage, it is a bearable circumstance for us. We'll definitely come back.
