Weinstube Kachelofen in Stuttgart

It is not so much about the food that was below standards it is about what happened when we ask for the bill..!! The waitress announced that the restaurant does not accept credit cards.. we protested because this against the law in the EU..! and in any case they should have mention it before we seat to eat there..!! The answer was that the previous waiter who already finish his shift should have told us, so no one was taking the responsibility on behalf of the management.. the lady that supposedly was in charge she said that “ it wasn’t me who seat you” otherwise I would have told you about the card..!! BS excuses they had a card machine but did not want to use it so they don’t pay commission to the bank.. I should have call the police but I was with friends and I didn’t want to spoil totally the evening..!! We payed cash and we were short of 20cents the waitress insisted because I didn’t have any coins left to give me change out of 50euro bill in order to get the 20cents.. luckily one of the friends had a coin and we gave it her..! The funny thing is the waitress complained we did not tip her..! That was it..! I told to go to h@ll..!! Wasn’t it enough they did not accept cards.. wasn’t it enough that the food was dried and burned she wanted a tip..!! Unbelievable these people.. I wonder what the authorities are doing…about them not accepting cards this is against the law.. I believe if we were Germans they wouldn’t ask for cash only because they could report them.. but we were visitors and thought they could get away with it..!STAY AWAY from this place there is nothing good about it..!!

Very cozy, the food was very good and our waitress Niko... Was very friendly, accommodating and just as you would imagine. How were his well cared for. Everyone very friendly. Unfortunately, this is now a rarity. Highly recommended

A down-to-earth (somewhat outdated) Swabian restaurant. Prices are fair, food is good. Unfortunately, the goose breast we ordered in advance was extremely dry/hard, "wobbly" skin, rock-hard dumplings, very manageable portion size - not recommended. Service very friendly. Unfortunately, card payment is not possible - only cash payment!

Great food, nice staff in traditional German settings. We really recommend, but you might need to book table or be lucky to get a few seats at a table if you come without booking

Quaint, traditional restaurant, fast and friendly service and really delicious, fresh and home-cooked dishes. The goulash soup and the onion roast were terrific.

The cozy restaurant is centrally located in the old town. I don't think it's a bad thing that the cuisine is traditional, but rather old-fashioned. For example, the cheese spaetzle (which is not recommended because it is far too cheese-heavy) is only a vegetarian main course. If you were to ask about something vegan, the response would probably be laughter. Just as they seemed proud of not serving non-alcoholic champagne. The rooms have charm and with a little more modern twist it would be a great traditional restaurant - but the way it currently presents itself, I'm not part of the target group.

So the food is average at best for the prices. My pancake soup was bland, but the potato salad and meatballs were too salty. The brawn was okay, the fried potatoes with it were below average. It was my second visit to the tiled stove and every time I regretted it. What I don't understand is why the store still seems to be so popular. Either the Swabians are undemanding, or they are all tourists 😅 The many positive reviews are very surprising 🤔

Weinstube Kachelofen está situado a poco menos de una milla al sur de Hauptbahnhof. Se encuentra a pocos pasos de la estación de Rathaus en la línea U 2. Aparecí a eso de los 18. 30 un martes por la noche sin reserva, pero un servicial camarero me encontró una mesa, aunque cerca de la entrada. Como estaba tan ocupado, se compartieron mesas y terminé en compañía de un hombre de Salem en el sur de Alemania. Esto resultó ser una experiencia divertida a pesar de que nuestras habilidades en el idioma del otro son algo limitadas. Lamentablemente, la comida no estuvo a la altura de la popularidad del restaurante. Mi entrante - un caldo con pasta y salchicha - estaba bueno, pero mi plato principal de medio pato estaba demasiado cocido, aunque las albóndigas y la col roja que lo acompañaban eran agradables. El postre de strudel de apfel con crema también fue agradable, al igual que mis dos cervezas y un vaso decente de Riesling seco. El costo fue de 59 € sin servicio.

The Swabian buffet is good. You can eat as much as you want. Unfortunately, a few dishes were too acidic/vinegar heavy. The staff is friendly to nice, but not always attentive. The atmosphere is really quaint.

How you can serve such a dry goose breast is a mystery to me. But the fact that after making a complaint you are served another dry goose breast with the same gray skin can no longer be surpassed in terms of ignorance. The thin, grayish sauce was oversalted and the hard dumpling was inedible. In response to another complaint, they said that they had at least served a new goose breast... Other guests also complained that some components were too salty. It's not enough if just the waiter is nice!!!

Ohne Reservierung erhielten wir am Samstagabend zwei Plätze. Sehr aufmerksame Bedienung aus Kroatien. Essen, Gänsebrust mit Knödel und Apfelrotkraut sehr gut, gute Weine, lockere Atmosphäre angemessene Preise.

The Weinstube Kachelofen is a typical Swabian restaurant. Cozy furnishings, friendly service, lots of homemade food and fair prices. There is hardly anything to complain about. It's nice that there are still such originals in the middle of Stuttgart. Just keep in mind that only cash is accepted in the Weinstube Kachelofen. And make a reservation if possible, as it tends to be very crowded even during the week.

Delicious! My wife and I are absolutely impressed by the quality and taste of the food. The food was not only excellently prepared, but also beautifully presented, a true feast for the senses! You can immediately tell that the cooking here is done with attention to detail and a lot of passion. Particularly noteworthy is the friendly and attentive service, which made our visit a completely successful experience. We had dinner here on Wednesday evening, after a pleasant walk along Königstraße. Typical Swabian restaurant, truly characteristic and welcoming! We tried the wild boar goulash, really delicious! At the end of a pleasant evening we were offered a taste of dessert with jam. A must try in Stuttgart

Our favorite restaurant in Stuttgart for years when it comes to good Swabian food and a cozy Swabian atmosphere. Great to give foreign guests a culinary impression of the “Ländle”. It's best to make a reservation, as... well attended.

We were there spontaneously. It was full and actually everything was reserved. But the service tried very hard to ensure that we were able to eat between two reservations. The waitresses are very nice and were well organized. The food is great. I can only recommend it.

Autumn is the time for game dishes. Venison goulash with cranberries, spaetzle and salad. The dish was excellently prepared and tasted at the highest level. The ambience of the restaurant is getting old, but that's exactly what makes this restaurant so visitable and endearing. The staff and especially the landlady are friendly, open-minded, very attentive and friendly at all times. I would be happy to go there again.

This place is great. I had the spaeztle with cheese and salad. I can tell you Americans, that it’s exactly like some of the best Mac n cheese ever. The salad was the best salad I had in Germany, salads didn’t seem common or great in Deutschland but I really enjoyed the one here. Super good price, cash only. But worth it, go to the atm beforehand

They only accept cash payment, which is embarrassing for such a big restaurant. The waiters said there were three ATMs nearby, but of course each one has fees for withdrawals. After I insisted on paying with the card because the ATM fees were too high, the waitress said that they do have a POS and that we can "try" paying with the card. Then she came back and said it wasn't working with the POS and that the ATM fees weren't her problem. This theater is extremely embarrassing... In addition, two dishes were way too salty. I'll never come back again.

The Swabian brunch is unique and excellent.

Service was very quick. The salad and potato salad are very tasty. Delicious homemade spaetzle, good original Wiener schnitzel with gravy.

We sat outside for an hour and often went in to get a waitress. We were assured that anyone would come, but no one came. If you want to have a relaxed drink in the evening, please go somewhere else. Not recommended!

Very rustic Swabian wine bar. I had the Flädlesuppe as a starter; the soup was strong. For the main course I chose the roast pork from the oven with bread dumplings, chanterelle sauce and salad. I also drank a white wine spritzer. The restaurant was warm and rustic. The waitress was in a good mood and joked around with all the customers to ensure a good atmosphere. The price-performance ratio is great, you can't complain, and the food is fresh.

Super delicious Swabian food, everything homemade, generous portions. This is only topped by the great service. The only thing that was unpleasant afterwards was the strong smell of food.

Super rustic wine bar in the city center with mainly Swabian dishes. In the evening, almost nothing works without a reservation. The food was delicious and plentiful, the boss and waitresses were very friendly, I would love to come back.

Very nice and quick service, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. We had the chanterelles with spaetzle. The sauce was very watery and didn't taste like anything, i.e. colored water. The spaetzle didn't taste good either. The roast pork was OK but the sauce tasted like a ready-made sauce. It's a shame, the wine bar is otherwise very nice.

Finally tried an absolutely top restaurant in Stuttgart again. Simple German / Swabian cuisine cooked almost to perfection. Service was really incredibly friendly, courteous and professional. Price performance absolutely top! We'd love to come back :)

You must go to this place if you are in Stuttgart and want a hearty meal! They have authentic Swabian dishes, and the waitress is such a sweet lady, felt like I was visiting my auntie

I sometimes eat here during my work breaks. I always look forward to the wonderful daily menu！ I ate tuna steak today. The pink pepper cream sauce went well with the fish and it didn't smell like fish at all. It was more delicious than I expected！！ Today I also had a special wild boar stew. It is odorless and tender meat. The service is quick and the waiters are friendly. Traditional Swabian restaurant. This is a restaurant where you can invite colleagues and friends to share a meal. There were two of us eating and we were greeted very strangely when we asked if there was still a table available for two because we didn't just want to sit down. Unfortunately, the mint spritzer is absolutely not recommended as it only tasted like stale water with little taste. The service was among the worst I have ever experienced. When asked about the bill, people reacted frantically and rolled their eyes. It was busy, but you just don't do that to customers. When we wanted to pay by card, the response was very unfriendly and asked why we didn't have any cash. So we both wanted to go in to pay and then people shouted loudly why we both had to go in, one person was enough, to which I just replied that we wanted to go straight away. All I can say about the food is that it's nothing special and lacked a bit of taste.

The food is delicious, only their local dish Kasespatzle was a bit burnt, but I ate this dish for the first time, maybe it should be like that, I don't know🙂 They bring a large portion of salad to the Schnitzel and Kasespatzle, and Goulash bread.

Nice restaurant. The prices are normal for the location, but not cheap. Unfortunately, I can't get used to the fact that no side dishes such as spaetzle, fries, etc. are served with the main courses, but have to be ordered separately. I didn't know it until now and it won't be mine either. If that doesn't bother you, I can only recommend the restaurant.

Cozy wine bar atmosphere with warm service from a great boss who knows how to respond perfectly to the needs of her guests. Despite the restaurant being full, our dishes came to the table quickly and everything tasted very good. The deer goulash, super tender, and the oven slip for dessert were great. Absolutely good value for money with good portion sizes. If the plates are still warm the next time you visit, then you get the 5th star. 👍😉

A huge disappointment: we had reserved a table for two people for Friday evening. When we arrived on the agreed day and only had a few meters to go to the tiled stove, we saw the waiter remove the sign with our name from the reserved table and give the table to the guests who had arrived before us without a reservation. And that even though we arrived EARLIER than planned! When we asked what that was about, the waiter stoically asked for patience and referred us to the landlady. Nobody apologized, just continued to ask for patience because all the tables outside were full. We waited ten minutes and left. A very “nice” surprise from the tiled stove for my friend’s birthday, which we wanted to celebrate that evening. By the way, he is a regular guest and has always praised the restaurant very much. Of course, it is more profitable to have five people at the table on Friday evening to earn more, but who does such a thing? Who gives away the reserved tables and then acts as if everything is fine? By the way, the food isn't half as good as in the Klösterle.

It was my first time eating real Swabian food and I have to say, it was simply fantastic here. It was very tasty, the service was friendly and quick and it's in a pretty place.

Wir haben am Samstagabend draußen gesessen. Der Service war an der Leistungsgrenze. Teils wurden Getränke vergessen oder falsch gebracht. Wir haben 5x Zwiebelrostbraten + 1x Kartoffelsalat + 1x Spätzle mit Soße bestellt. Der Zwiebelrostbraten war OK. Der Kartoffelsalat war eher ein Batzen Kartoffelbrei, zu trocken.

A restaurant in the center of Stuttgart that I highly recommend! We received a warm and enthusiastic welcome and received wise advice on the choice of dishes. Several German specialties at reasonable prices and everything is homemade! The lentils are delicious, the meatballs and späzzles are homemade with a delicious sauce. German wine is affordable and very good. And above all, the boss is adorable: welcoming, considerate and caring. This place is a little gem!

Cibo tipico, abbondante e buono; purtroppo accettano solo contanti perciò può creare un po’ di disagio. Se anche vedete sui tavoli i cartellini “riservato” non fatevi intimidire e chiedete ai camerieri se hanno disponibilità perché sicuramente ce l’hanno, abbiamo dedotto che sia una “tattica” del luogo.

We were very disappointed. Goulash soup came lukewarm, 3 pieces of meat inside, tasteless and looked like collected, thin leftover sauces and the bread was dried out. The cheese pätzle out of the bag also had no taste - and that in Swabia. At the next table someone returned 2 drinks because the glasses were sticky and smeared with lipstick. The side salad and the sausage salad (poor sausage quality) were also very disappointing, far too much vinegar in the marinade and the finished product. Both salads dressed with the same ready-made marinade. Expected more quality and cleanliness for these prices. It's a shame, because the atmosphere is nice, but we don't go there anymore.

Perfect, there's no other way to say it. Very friendly and competent service. The menu is there straight away, the drinks are there straight away, the food is there very quickly. When the drink is empty you will immediately be asked if you would like a new one. From the salad to the schnitzel to the roasted potatoes, the food was very tasty and definitely prepared on site, including the potato salad. The portions are very generous and the prices are still fair. I'm honestly thrilled.
