I ordered a salad with smoked salmon, which was not bad in taste but still very disappointing. Apart from the few strips of salmon, it was unfortunately just a simple leaf salad, without a slice of cucumber, tomato, radish or anything else. Not even cress or a few seeds for decoration. The mixed side salad almost made more sense. Unfortunately 0 is justified for the price

Cozy restaurant in the heart of Stuttgart. During my visit, the interior reminded me of restaurants from the 80s. Brought up childhood memories. The food was also really Swabian. The spaetzle was to die for.

Sorry, but I found it just so mediocre here. However, the portions were large - if that was important to anyone. The service was super nice.

I loved the cheese Spatzle and the dessert. The reason for my grading is the fact they only accept credit/debit card payments from a €100 on. In 2025? In this economy?

We were there with a larger group and overall we would describe the wine bar as average. The food was generally as expected, no outliers upwards, but none downwards either. The service was also OK. Overall, I would give the local 3 stars (= average), but we were all very surprised when we found out in the end that card payments are only accepted from €100 onwards. Both with credit card and debit card... This is extremely backwards at a time when many locals no longer accept cash payments at all. Especially at this altitude! Accordingly, my rating slips from 3 stars to 2 stars (= below average, but not bad). Too bad!

We called the shop to make a reservation at 21:30 and were told that the kitchen had already closed while on google it says it closes at 00:00.

We actually just wanted something to drink and told the waitress that, and she clearly said just take a seat. A few minutes later another waiter came and asked whether our colleague had informed us that card payments were only possible for orders over 100 euros .. We just wanted to drink a beer... Oh please... Then there has to be a notice somewhere at the entrance or in the menu... That's not possible .. I understand that you don't have to accept a few euros with a card... But unfortunately anything over 100 euros is not up to date... then we just left without consuming anything...

Very tasty Swabian food and the potato salad was great

We went there for lunch and instantly fell in love with this cozy local spot — thanks to the super friendly staff who turned out to be big fans of Turkish TV shows! The hearty Swabian dishes were absolutely delicious and seriously generous. To give you an idea of the portion sizes: I actually got tired while eating!

We were guests on April 12, 2025 and had a wheelchair companion with us, so we had to move a table. Was. no problem service top food top 👍 will be back 👍

The roast was great! Strong sauce, nice roasted onions as a topping and juicy meat. The farmer's bread rounded the whole thing off wonderfully. The waitresses were all funny and totally friendly. We'll be back!

Service moody, food bad 3 times Wiener Schnitzel, 3 times a burnt Wiener Schnitzel Spaetzle were overcooked and unfortunately the service staff didn't have a good day either. There are no fries for kids: “unfortunately we don’t have a deep fryer” Attention: Card payments are only possible with a turnover of €100 or more.

The welcome was great. There was a very sweet lady who showed us to our table and made our evening beautiful. It was very helpful in decision making. He said the schnitzel was "the best in town" but I think it was the best in town😎 Thank you for allowing us to enjoy dinner in this traditional setting.

Nettes Personal. Das Metzgergulasch war sehr lecker. Leider war das Schnitzel nicht so gut und hat nur nach dem Fett geschmeckt, in dem es gebraten wurde. Mit der Sauce war es jedoch in Ordnung und man konnte es essen. Die Spätzle waren ok, leider auch nicht mehr, da sie sehr fade waren. Das Dessert Ofenschlupfer hat auch sehr gut geschmeckt.

The portions are large and very hearty, and the taste is simply delicious. The restaurant's interior creates an incredibly cozy atmosphere: everything is in a traditional style that takes you straight to the heart of Swabia. A traditional German restaurant for German food. The restaurant is crowded. Reservations are preferred, but depending on the time, it is possible to enter without reservation. A recommended Swabian restaurant in the middle of Stuttgart. Very attentive and friendly staff. I ate a Swiss sausage salad. A little too much of the dressing for my taste was spread over the sausage salad. Price/performance good!

The best meal in a long time The restaurant seems unremarkable at first but it is incredible. We were warmly welcomed in the restaurant and shown to our table. The benches are very comfortable and you can have a good chat. When we ordered our food we only had to wait a short time and our food was ready. I had the onion steak. It was incredibly tasty. With every bite I experienced a new taste explosion. The sauce wasn't too dominant and perfectly rounded off the taste of the meat. The bread was incredibly soft and soaked with the juices of the meat. Every component of the dish harmonized perfectly with each other and the waiters asked us if we liked it, which I found very nice. All in all an incredible restaurant great service the best food and a lovely ambience. 10/10 Greetings to the boss

The shop seems inconspicuous from the outside but the service is a 10/10 very nice and it seems like you've known each other for a long time. The food was INCREDIBLE, I've never eaten anything like it, the onion roast is the best thing I've ever eaten. Just like the tuna. It is cozy and can only be recommended.

The food was great, the service was very friendly! What made us angry was the fact that you suddenly can no longer pay by card. I knew it differently from previous visits. Especially since there is a debit card machine very prominently at the checkout. When asked, the head waitress said that you could still pay by card in extreme cases, but that they tried to avoid that. If you take a new approach for cost reasons, that's ok. But you can also briefly mention this at the beginning.

The service is on point, the food and drinks are typically good👍, the surroundings and furnishings are generally good, middle-class..... All in all, rating Highly recommended......... PS.: Weinstube Kachelofen is also very busy during the week👍, please be patient🤝💪👍🤘😁🙋‍♂️

Delicious Swabian cuisine, top service, rustic atmosphere

Yes, great atmosphere, delicious food, friendly people and the prices are right too.

Arrived around 12:10 on Tuesday. There were already five tables occupied, and when we left the restaurant at 12:50, the restaurant was 80% full. As soon as I entered, the waiter showed me to my seat and gave me menu recommendations. (Speak English well) It was great to see the two employees working so energetically and quickly. The food was plentiful, not too salty or greasy, and delicious to suit Korean tastes!! The beer was also really delicious. Be sure to stop by when you travel to Stuttgart!

Gemütliche Atmosphäre, freundliches Personal und gute schwäbische Küche, so kennen wir dieses Lokal schon viele Jahre. Aber in letzter Zeit hat sich da etwas geändert. Die Kässpätzle sind wirklich einzigartig im Geschmack und im Aussehen, könnte auf den ersten Blick auch ein Pfannkuchen gewesen sein. Die Weihnachtsente war geschmacklich solala, die Haut leider lapprig. Am Nebentisch wurde Schnitzel serviert, das hätte ich dem Koch um die Ohren geschlagen, so dunkelbraun gebrannt war es. Wurstsalat wird neuerdings mit merkwürdigem Dressing angemacht, sieht aus und schmeckt wie im Schnellimbiss. Die Küche bekommt von mir höchstens 3 von 5 Bewertungspunkten. Was aber in der heutigen Zeit gar nicht geht, ist die Verweigerung von Kartenzahlung. Das kann ausnahmsweise mal notwendig sein aber nicht generell. Selbst der Glühweinstand am Weihnachtsmarkt kann das. Ein Hinweis am Eingang fehlt. Solange sich hier nichts bessert, bleibe ich diesem Lokal fern. Schade.

Desde hace muchos años visitamos a nuestros socios comerciales en Stuttgart. Como solíamos estar muy contentos con este restaurante volvimos de nuevo en diciembre pasado. Desafortunadamente, la calidad ha bajado mucho. Pedí una ensalada suiza, pero vino con un aderezo ¿qué obtenemos en Suecia con salmón? Después de eso algunos fideos de queso suabio, esto parecía más una pizza o una tortilla, no lo que solíamos conseguir allí. También el personal debe haber cambiado, antes de cálido y acogedor, la última vez como más aspirante a abeja. Por suerte nuestros socios conocen otros buenos restaurantes de la ciudad así que no más Kachelofen * Por último pero no menos importante no aceptan tarjeta de crédito o tarjeta bancaria, solo efectivo y esto en 2024

Quaint restaurant with relaxed service. Onion roast was delicious. Unfortunately the bread wasn't that good. In a region with such good farmhouse bread, there is no need to serve dry, frozen bread.

I think it's an outrage when a restaurant of this size in the middle of Stuttgart doesn't accept card payment. You can imagine the reasons and I don't think you should support something like that.

Very noisy environment. Typical cuisine menu in English and German. Unfortunately there are very long tables and you find yourself sharing the meal with complete strangers. I would put some tablecloths since the long, plastic doilies aren't very identical. Ditto the cutlery and napkins are self service on the table. Don't take the water because it's too expensive. Overall, the service is fast but not brilliant. Mandatory to pay only in cash, they do not accept cards

Disappointing in all perspectives but most of all bad service! We went at 7 o' clock and they told us there was one table available only till 8 due to another reservation. We said ok and we sat there. After five minutes we asked if we could order and the lady that was in charge was almost offended and said it's not her job to take orders and that we should ask another waitress. After spending five to ten minutes reminding others that we'd like to order we managed to finally do it. When they brought is the forks and knives the waitress wasn't careful at all and she would make the fork touch her blouse, her arms, the table and any possible surface without caring. We were looking at a dirty knife they gave us and the waitress asked if we'd like another one. We said never mind and she said "cool because we have no others to give you anyway" which sounded mean and sarcastic. After much wait they brought us our food which we had to eat in panic under 15 minutes due to the other reservation. The beef goulash soup was really nice, I'd suggest trying it. The sausage with sauerkraut had great quantity of sauerkraut and a quite small sausage. It was also spicy and it's not mentioned in the menu. The salad with chicken had nicely grilled chicken but little lettuce. These were served with a basket of much bread. Except from the soup, the other foods were ok, but nothing great in terms of taste and also quite expensive. At some point the waitresses realised that we are greek as they also were and they tried to seem more friendly towards us in an insincere kind of way. The people for the next reservation came around ten minutes earlier and were waiting next to us, so we gave our plates to the waitress and asked to pay. Then, these people were seated elsewhere. We were told we could sit for another half hour at the table if we wanted. Unfortunately this was after we ate quickly under ten minutes and the waitresses had already taken all our plates. Finally we asked multiple times to pay, cards aren't allowed, only cash which is a disgrace. We paid the exact amount without any tip and the waitress was very mean. She said sarcastically "I see you have the exact amount, great" and was clearly mad. She also didn't return back our greeting or respond to us saying thank you. Overall, a very overrated restaurant with very bad service. I'm surprised by its rating which seems suspicious to me. As a side note, the place looked dirty, the bathroom smelled bad and the waitresses habdled food without caring for sanitary conditions.

It is not so much about the food that was below standards it is about what happened when we ask for the bill..!! The waitress announced that the restaurant does not accept credit cards.. we protested because this against the law in the EU..! and in any case they should have mention it before we seat to eat there..!! The answer was that the previous waiter who already finish his shift should have told us, so no one was taking the responsibility on behalf of the management.. the lady that supposedly was in charge she said that “ it wasn’t me who seat you” otherwise I would have told you about the card..!! Just excuses they had a card machine but did not want to use it so they don’t pay commission to the bank.. I should have call the police but I was with friends and I didn’t want to spoil totally the evening..!! We payed cash and we were short of 20cents the waitress insisted because I didn’t have any coins left to give me change out of 50euro bill in order to get the 20cents.. luckily one of the friends had a coin and we gave it her..! The funny thing is the waitress complained we did not tip her..! That was it..! Wasn’t it enough they did not accept cards.. wasn’t it enough that the food was dried and burned she wanted a tip..!! Unbelievable these people.. I wonder what the authorities are doing…about them not accepting cards this is against the law.. I believe if we were Germans they wouldn’t ask for cash only because they could report them.. but we were visitors and thought they could get away with it..!

Gran comida auténtica, siempre han tenido excelente comida, servicio y precios normales para una cena sentada. Han estado yendo aquí durante más de 15 años y siempre están ocupados, un montón de alemanes, así que eso es una buena señal! Recomiendo una reserva, pero pueden apretar en algunas ocasiones.

A down-to-earth (somewhat outdated) Swabian restaurant. Prices are fair, food is good. Unfortunately, the goose breast we ordered in advance was extremely dry/hard, "wobbly" skin, rock-hard dumplings, very manageable portion size - not recommended. Service very friendly. Unfortunately, card payment is not possible - only cash payment!

Waren mit ein paar Kollegen dort zum Abendessen. Essen so la la. Zwiebelrostbraten ging aber gar nicht. Medium bestellt und komplett durch bekommen, dann noch zäh und kein Gaumenschmaus. Die separat dazu zu bestellenden Spätzle waren bei drei bestellten Portionen deutlich unterschiedlich von der Menge her. Das panierte Schnitzel hatte eine schon fast schwarze Färbung der Panade. Optisch nicht sehr einladend und Fleisch war sehr trocken. Bedienung wirkte sehr ruppig. Tisch war bis zu einer bestimmten Uhrzeit reserviert. Schon eine halbe Stunde davor wurden wir sehr deutlich zum Zahlen und gehen bewegt obwohl die Gläser und Weinflaschen noch halb voll waren. Eigentlich sehr schade, da das Ambiente eigentlich ganz nett ist. War wohl unser erster und letzter Besuch dort.

So the food is average at best for the prices. My pancake soup was bland, but the potato salad and meatballs were too salty. The brawn was okay, the fried potatoes with it were below average. It was my second visit to the tiled stove and I regretted it every time. What I don't understand is why the store still seems to be so popular. Either the Swabians are undemanding, or they are all tourists 😅 The many positive reviews are very surprising 🤔

The cozy restaurant is centrally located in the old town. I don't think it's a bad thing that the cuisine is traditional, but rather old-fashioned. For example, the cheese spaetzle (which is not recommended because it is far too cheese-heavy) is only a vegetarian main course. If you were to ask about something vegan, the response would probably be laughter. Just as they seemed proud of not serving non-alcoholic champagne. The rooms have charm and with a little more modern twist it would be a great traditional restaurant - but the way it currently presents itself, I'm not part of the target group.

Weinstube Kachelofen está situado a poco menos de una milla al sur de Hauptbahnhof. Se encuentra a pocos pasos de la estación de Rathaus en la línea U 2. Aparecí a eso de los 18. 30 un martes por la noche sin reserva, pero un servicial camarero me encontró una mesa, aunque cerca de la entrada. Como estaba tan ocupado, se compartieron mesas y terminé en compañía de un hombre de Salem en el sur de Alemania. Esto resultó ser una experiencia divertida a pesar de que nuestras habilidades en el idioma del otro son algo limitadas. Lamentablemente, la comida no estuvo a la altura de la popularidad del restaurante. Mi entrante - un caldo con pasta y salchicha - estaba bueno, pero mi plato principal de medio pato estaba demasiado cocido, aunque las albóndigas y la col roja que lo acompañaban eran agradables. El postre de strudel de apfel con crema también fue agradable, al igual que mis dos cervezas y un vaso decente de Riesling seco. El costo fue de 59 € sin servicio.

How you can serve such a dry goose breast is a mystery to me. But the fact that after making a complaint you are served another dry goose breast with the same gray skin can no longer be surpassed in terms of ignorance. The thin, grayish sauce was oversalted and the hard dumpling was inedible. In response to another complaint, they said that they had at least served a new goose breast... Other guests also complained that some components were too salty. It's not enough if just the waiter is nice!!!

The Swabian buffet is good. You can eat as much as you want. Unfortunately, a few dishes were too acidic/vinegar heavy. The staff is friendly to nice, but not always attentive. The atmosphere is really quaint.

Ohne Reservierung erhielten wir am Samstagabend zwei Plätze. Sehr aufmerksame Bedienung aus Kroatien. Essen, Gänsebrust mit Knödel und Apfelrotkraut sehr gut, gute Weine, lockere Atmosphäre angemessene Preise.

The Weinstube Kachelofen is a typical Swabian restaurant. Cozy furnishings, friendly service, lots of homemade food and fair prices. There is hardly anything to complain about. It's nice that there are still such originals in the middle of Stuttgart. Just keep in mind that only cash is accepted in the Weinstube Kachelofen. And make a reservation if possible, as it tends to be very crowded even during the week.

Delicious! My wife and I are absolutely impressed by the quality and taste of the food. The food was not only excellently prepared, but also beautifully presented, a true feast for the senses! You can immediately tell that the cooking here is done with attention to detail and a lot of passion. Particularly noteworthy is the friendly and attentive service, which made our visit a completely successful experience. Autumn is the time for game dishes. Venison goulash with cranberries, spaetzle and salad. The dish was excellently prepared and tasted at the highest level. The ambience of the restaurant is getting old, but that's exactly what makes this restaurant so visitable and endearing. The staff and especially the landlady are friendly, open-minded, very attentive and friendly at all times. I would be happy to go there again.
