WATAMI Sushi & Grill in Gersthofen

We were there at lunchtime without a reservation. The staff was very friendly. The food was delicious and served quickly after ordering. The atmosphere was very pleasant. Although the restaurant was busy, it wasn't very noisy.

Very tasty, but the "all you can eat" is quite expensive!

We've been here at least 8 times now! Consistently great! Really good food, fresh, always something new on the tray, fast and very friendly! So 5*, with the small caveat that when the place is "full," the noise level is quite high due to the layout and architecture.

The variety of dishes is fantastic.

I think it's a shame that the food selection has been reduced; some dishes have simply been removed from the menu. Fried salmon on salad or seared tuna, for example.

The food is super delicious, and the pill ordering is truly innovative. The service is super friendly and very attentive. The ambiance is nice; I personally don't like the high ceiling, but that's just complaining at a high level.

Bad ordering system. 4 people, 1 iPad. Food comes before appetizers! Per person! Everyone had to eat alone, what a pity!!! Unfriendly staff. We didn't understand the system and I was told that iPads are expensive and licenses are unaffordable! As if that were my problem! A shame for the evening and the money!

Very nice ambiance, service was okay, but unfortunately, the all-you-can-eat selection is very limited. The concept is great, so no one gets confused with their orders, but there's simply too little choice of dishes. We won't be coming back.

We went to Watami for dinner. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Our selection was all-you-can-eat. You can always choose five dishes and then order again. The food was simply fantastic. Whether it was sushi, meat, fish, or vegetables. The desserts were also very, very good. We would gladly return.

Great concept with tablet ordering. The dishes are delicious. It occasionally takes a while for individual partial orders to arrive, which is probably due to the fact that the food is cooked fresh. Reservations are required and can be conveniently booked online. It's also easy to reach by train, as the station is about a one-minute walk away. Plenty of parking is available.

The food was very good and always served fairly quickly. The service was also very friendly. There's nothing negative to say about it.

We heard positive reviews about this place, but in reality the menu selection at you can all eat is modest. The sushi is so-so. There are too many spicy dishes. Even the ice cream is more sugar than ice cream. We won't come back.

It was the worst experience...you wait a long time for your food and it is very hot and the food was not that good....so overall very bad...NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

We've been going to this restaurant for years. Unfortunately, the quality has declined over time. The taste is okay, but comparable to any other sushi restaurant. The staff is very friendly, and the prices are reasonable, too.

A wonderful experience with delicious food. Even if an order goes wrong, nothing is lost. You can order it again in your next order 😅. The food was delivered quickly, and the two hours passed so quickly. We had a lot of fun and it was a lovely evening.

Watami is always a lovely and pleasant experience. It's child-friendly and great for introverts, as you can order everything via tablet. The food is, as always, of the highest quality, and there's always something new to try. It therefore deserves 5 stars. Unfortunately, I was a bit shocked by the price this time, as the buffet was a good €10 cheaper the last time I visited. I would come again despite the increased prices.

The tablecloth was very nice. The service was excellent! Especially that one guy, yeah. I would recommend not serving the vegetarian sushi on the same plate as the non-vegetarian sushi. Otherwise, it's great :)

The all-you-can-eat option, which can be ordered using a tablet, makes a positive impression, something you don't see elsewhere. You can order five items for two people at once on the tablet, and each one tastes delicious. You can always reorder after ten minutes, and the service is really friendly. Of course, you can also order regular menus, and while it's probably a bit more expensive in the evening, there's a wider selection of all-you-can-eat items. We love eating there and are always happy to be able to eat there.

Very good and delicious sushi. Orders are made using an all-you-can-eat system via iPad. The quality is very fresh, and it never gets boring, as the menu changes regularly. There's something for even the smallest guests.

We went for lunch with a group of about 20 people, and everyone was satisfied. It's also recommended for vegans, as there are plenty of vegan options on the menu.

I've been there several times now, and I really enjoy going there every time. Truly top-notch. Sure, it's not the cheapest restaurant, but it's worth every cent in my opinion. The food always arrives fresh and hot, and there's a good selection. Highly recommended.

The dishes served look significantly different from those selected on the tablet. Nothing is served at the same time, it's not attractively presented, and the quality is still poor. "All you can eat" isn't my thing. The concept might make sense for people who want to eat their fill with a pre-ordered meal.

It's a great experience to be able to order five dishes from a tray every 10 minutes. Unfortunately, some of the food we didn't order came out. The quality of the food is really good for all-you-can-eat, but the price is pretty high, and drinks are extra. The restroom was clean and located upstairs, but unfortunately, all the soaps were gone, and we didn't see an elevator, which makes it very difficult for people with mobility issues. All in all, something completely different, and the sushi is highly recommended, although the mussels, unfortunately, aren't.

I don’t understand the 4,5 star rating. The food was okay. Sushi contained more rice than filling. The meat had good taste but was very dry. The service not that good. After ordering the sushi is served almost immediatly, but serving the meat can take up to 50 min. Vegetables even didn’t come at all… I am not going back and I would not reccomend it.

We waited forever for the food. Everything except the fried food was just really, really bad. I feel sick.

Sushi and Japanese cuisine in a modern setting. Drinks and food are ordered via a tablet. We always do all-you-can-eat. You can probably also order a la carte. We like the food, but not everything is equally good. I can't recommend the lamb chops 😉 And we don't go there more than twice a year, as the menu hardly changes. Nachtich is also on it, by the way.

This is by far one of the best all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants we've visited so far. You get a tablet at your table and can order five dishes per person over several rounds. The selection is really large, and there are several dishes to order in different styles. From sushi to salads and bowls, seafood, fried dishes, rice, meat, soups, and desserts. Drinks cost extra, but the selection is very extensive. After rounds 3 or 4, we were already more than full and only ordered individual dishes or dessert. A really cool restaurant, the ambiance is really nice, and the food tasted good. Addendum: The second visit was also a complete success and satisfactory in every respect 😊

Very, very delicious food. All-you-can-eat works great. You order from a tray, and it's delivered to your table very quickly. You can order five dishes every five minutes. There's a wide selection of salads, meats, and sushi.

Overpriced for what it is. Tap water for 4€ 😅 food was okay, sadly everything had the same sauce on top which made it taste the same and it was really greasy. Wouldn’t go again..

A flawless visit, with super tasty and fresh food. The restaurant is absolutely clean and the employees are incredibly friendly, especially towards children. Definitely recommended and it wasn't the last time we were there.

Ansprechendes Ambiente. Freundliches und professionelles Personal. Entgegen mancher alten Rezensionen wurden an unserem Tag leere Teller zeitnah abgeräumt und auch die Speisen kamen manchmal leicht zeitversetzt, aber trotzdem zeitnah. Lokal war aber an einem DI Abend auch nicht voll. Klar, Bestellung per iPad muss man mögen. Die Getränkepreise empfinde ich als fair. Klar, das All you can eat mag etwas teuer scheinen, vor allem wenn man wie ich nur drei Runden schafft, aber man hat eben die Möglichkeit, unheimlich viele Kleinigkeiten zu probieren. Das Personal muss viel mehr rumrennen, von dem Geschirraufwand ganz zu schweigen. Somit finde ich es ein faires Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Und dass nicht jedes Stück Sushi einzeln frisch gemacht wird, sondern in größerer Menge vorbereitet werden muss, das sollte jedem klar sein, denn sonst ist das nicht zu schaffen! Den fünften Stern hätte es z.B. für ein kleines Wochen-Special gegeben (zur Abwechslung) oder für Mochis auf der Karte. Ein Wochenspecial oder Monatsspecial könnte alles noch etwas aufwerten. Insgesamt kann ich nichts negativ bewerten. Es war stimmig und uns hat es geschmeckt.

I've been going there for a long time because I like the sushi. Unfortunately, all you can eat is becoming more and more expensive. The quality has also deteriorated somewhat. Some foods tasted better in the past and some foods took forever. Noodles from round 1 were not delivered until after round 4. Stupid because you don't dare to order again because you don't know whether you'll be able to do everything when it comes at some point. Everything was ok and still very, very tasty, but given the price, the whole thing should have been quicker, especially since the place wasn't overcrowded. And a little more selection outside of sushi would also be nice.

Anyone who praises the food here generally eats very below average. We were very disappointed. There are 2-3 things that taste pretty good (meat) but the sushi... Really the worst sushi we've ever eaten. A lot of rice, hardly any filling and then unfortunately the filling wasn't very good either. The rice was completely overcooked and wasn't pressed properly when rolling, and the sushi kept falling apart. Generally very little choice, we have already eaten several tablet all-you-can-eats. As an example: there are only 2 types of ice cream for dessert - and that is sesame and green tea. We had seen great food photos here on Google and also a long menu. But that must have been years ago... The price is also a bit too expensive. The service was at least super fast and very friendly. Unfortunately we won't be coming back.

Very good food. Tapas in Japanese, very sociable. Unfortunately, a point is deducted from the service, as you only get two hours at lunchtime.

Excellent quality sushi. Easy ordering via tray with super fast and friendly service. You can sit comfortably after your meal and not be asked out after 2 hours (like in many other restaurants). We always enjoy coming as a family and even in small groups.

A nice place in itself and if you like it technically fun but impersonal then this is definitely the right place. Everything looks nice but the taste is not convincing.

Very tasty food. As always, we had all you can eat. Individual portions come quickly, very friendly staff. The restaurant is on two floors, connected by a spiral staircase. Toilet is upstairs. There is an elevator.

A nice restaurant, here you can order individual dishes from the menu or all you can eat from a tray. Unfortunately, the dishes are always the same and never change! You can order up to 5 small portions every 10 minutes. Unfortunately, some things that were ordered in the first round only arrive in the third round or even later or not at all! The coconut balls are very tasty, but last time they weren't crispy but similar to mocci, which was disgusting. Outside the door there is a large parking lot with tall trees in which flocks of crows nest all year round. The whole parking lot is covered in dirt and you have to be careful not to get shot while walking through it.

Ate sushi here for the first time. It was amazing.

Unfortunately, the noodle “ramen” takes a long time to be delivered. You've already gotten everything else and ordered something for the second time until the noodles finally show up. Otherwise everything was very fresh and super tasty.

All in all ok. The salads and fried dishes were delicious. Unfortunately, the fried salmon was a bit dry and the sushi was below average. For €35 I would have expected a little more quality, especially with the sushi. The service, however, was top.

Fantastic sushi experience at Watami! I was recently in the restaurant in Gersthofen and was completely impressed. The sushi was simply incredibly delicious – fresh, perfectly prepared and of excellent quality. The selection of sushi variations was huge, and there were also many other Japanese dishes to choose from, so there was something for every taste. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive and we received a very warm welcome. The waiting times for our food were short, even though the restaurant was busy. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant and inviting. The atmosphere was stylish and cozy, so you could feel really comfortable. I can only warmly recommend Watami and am already looking forward to my next visit!

We've been going there since it opened. The staff is super nice and polite and just great. The food is amazing and of high quality. Price performance appropriate. Ordering the buffet conveniently via tablet is brilliant. I can only recommend it. There are endless parking spaces and barrier-free. Also no problem going to dinner with a stroller👍🏻

Modern restaurant with friendly staff and good food. Ordering via tablet is a great concept. Unfortunately, some sushi orders didn't come at all. Without a reservation you probably won't get a seat on Saturday. Booking time of 2 hours is a bit short if you want to spend the evening comfortably.

Delicious food and cozy atmosphere (the chairs could be a little higher and some tables wobble). I thought the concept of ordering with a tablet was really great.

The law has little to do with Japanese, 3-4 ready-made sauces that are everywhere, far too salty and sweet, overall, the subtle aromas of Japanese cuisine cannot be found, tastes more like the run-of-the-mill Chinese

Ultimately, the orders do not come in the desired order and are also mixed up with the dining partner. If it's two people it's okay, if it's three or more it's stupid. Basically, all can you eat is only for those who are very hungry; women often have less and could eat much more economically by ordering individually. Overall the quality is averagely good, the service instead of the usual carousels makes it a bit more upscale but not in the quality of the food. Therefore, we can easily recommend that authentic Japanese is something else.
