WATAMI Sushi & Grill in Gersthofen

We've been going there since it opened. The staff is super nice and polite and just great. The food is amazing and of high quality. Price performance appropriate. Ordering the buffet conveniently via tablet is brilliant. I can only recommend it. There are endless parking spaces and barrier-free. Also no problem going to dinner with a stroller👍🏻

Nice atmosphere, staff really nice. Ordering via tablet is unusual at first, but very pleasant. The portions are really small, so you can try a lot. Since the same orders arrive together on one plate, you have to talk to each other, which I think is great. It was a very fun evening. Thanks to the whole team.

Modern restaurant with friendly staff and good food. Ordering via tablet is a great concept. Unfortunately, some sushi orders didn't come at all. Without a reservation you probably won't get a seat on Saturday. Booking time of 2 hours is a bit short if you want to spend the evening comfortably.

Delicious food and cozy atmosphere (the chairs could be a little higher and some tables wobble). I thought the concept of ordering with a tablet was really great.

The law has little to do with Japanese, 3-4 ready-made sauces that are everywhere, far too salty and sweet, overall, the subtle aromas of Japanese cuisine cannot be found, tastes more like the run-of-the-mill Chinese

Nice ambience, friendly service, although the tablet concept is very much in keeping with cost-cutting measures. Ultimately, the orders do not come in the desired order and are also mixed up with the dining partner. If it's two people it's okay, if it's three or more it's stupid. Basically, all can you eat is only for those who are very hungry; women often have less and could eat much more economically by ordering individually. Overall the quality is averagely good, the service instead of the usual carousels makes it a bit more upscale but not in the quality of the food. Therefore, we can easily recommend that authentic Japanese is something else.

Food was very tasty, aromatic and beautifully prepared. Ordering via tray also worked well and the food came very quickly despite the restaurant being full. Our children also enjoyed it.

Disappointing experience (again). We visited Watami for the last time a year ago and were already disappointed by the declining quality. We returned last night hoping for improvement, but unfortunately we were disappointed again. The quality of the food was shockingly low. Not only did the salmon seem inferior and the seaweed paper was unpleasantly thick and tough, the frying fat also tasted old and rancid. Many dishes seemed as if they had just been thawed and reheated. The consequences of this culinary faux pas were not long in coming: I had a headache the next morning. We paid 130 euros for four people. A price that would be quite reasonable if the quality of the food had been right. However, there are comparable restaurants in Augsburg that offer a significantly better dining experience for this price. What dismays me most, however, is the seeming indifference of many diners to the quality of the ingredients. The main thing is that your stomach is full and your wallet is spared. No wonder that there are fewer and fewer restaurants that value high-quality ingredients and careful preparation. Despite the disappointing food, I would like to highlight the courteous service that made our stay a pleasant one. For this reason I give it two stars. Recommendation: It is better to look for alternatives in the Augsburg area that offer a better price-performance ratio.

Well, I think after as many years as this restaurant has existed, the menu could be changed. There is only a small selection and the food looks completely different than what is offered. The quality is also relatively poor, the sushi tastes very rubbery and you can tell that it has been sitting there all day. The waiters themselves were all very nice. So we definitely won't come back because the price-performance ratio just doesn't fit.

Good selection of food. The salmon nigiris are an absolute dream. Many other dishes were also very tasty, such as shrimp, beef and mushrooms. Only the duck was weak here. The service is very friendly and quick. The ambience is pleasant and modern.

Leckeres All-you-can-eat Konzept

Anyone who likes sushi or Japanese cuisine is definitely in good hands at Watami. They have by far the best and tastiest sushi around and the other dishes are also very tasty. Everyone can really find something there. The service and the atmosphere there are really good. What I can recommend is the all you can eat offer, which is really well set up in the restaurant with ordering via a tablet. In addition, price-performance ratio is absolutely fine.

Well, the impressions of a restaurant/local are always subjective. The waiter was professional and friendly. The food was good. Not 5 stars, but GOOD! To get to the toilet corridor, you overcome a "rondel staircase". For wheelchair users...Well yes. The price for 2 people was €64.10!! Now we have one more experience...

We were there for my parents' 40th wedding anniversary and even my dad, a skeptic of sushi and Japanese food, was very pleased and happy at the end :)

Always good. The waitresses were very on the ball today. Only the used dishes would have to be cleared away more quickly to make space on the table. The range has now been reduced, but the price has increased. Doesn't fit together... Other providers in Augsburg, for example, also include beef fillet etc. for the same price.

The food is super tasty and the pill ordering is really innovative. The service is super nice and very attentive. The ambience is nice, I personally don't like the high room but that's complaining on a high level.

Was here twice and was totally satisfied again. The service staff are super nice and very quick. The quality of the food is of course top. Update: I think quality has totally deteriorated. Sushi wasn't good at all and criticism wasn't well received either. Price performance is simply no longer right. It's all quite greasy and you'll get full quickly.

The food is very good, the quality (in my opinion) is not exceptional, which would justify the price. The selection is also rather average but the service is on point. As I said, the price is so high that it is something very special to eat here.

Watami Restaurant – Great food but room for improvement in serving Watami Restaurant is a great address for anyone who loves Asian cuisine. The only drawback: orders from different people are often served on a common plate, which unfortunately leads to confusion. This makes it difficult to know who ordered which dish, which is particularly difficult for larger groups or individual preferences. Here I would like to see a clear separation of the dishes so that everyone gets exactly what they ordered. Overall, Watami is a highly recommended restaurant with a great ambience and friendly staff - with a small adjustment to the serving, the experience could be perfect!

I can only recommend the restaurant for All You Can Eat if you are a good eater. A la carte, well: The Japanese curry was a little unimaginative. The rice was not washed well and there was too much starch left. The miso soup also has more water than tasty umami. I know it differently. And ginseng ginger tea is incorrectly offered on the menu, but you are served a flavored green tea. I assumed that I would get ginger root as a tea, as is usual for Asians. Green tea with caffeine and bag already steeping in the water which is not necessarily suitable in the evening as some people want to sleep. It's also bagged tea from Dallmayr, which at EUR 4.50 doesn't do justice to the price. As an upscale restaurant I would have expected a little more.

Delicious food with very good quality!

We were here for the first time. The staff was very curt, it would have been nice to get a little introduction to the ordering system on the iPad, but when we asked, the system was explained to us very briefly and succinctly. Unfortunately, there was only one iPad for the 5 of us to order, which meant that most of the time we were just passing the iPad around and it was quite hectic at the beginning. Most of the food came to the table ice cold. Unfortunately, the taste wasn't that good either. The food came with a very long delay and some orders only came after the food from a subsequent order had already been eaten. In view of all these facts, the meal was unfortunately far too expensive at €34 per person. The comment when paying that the food was cold was answered very clumsily and relatively little attention was paid to the whole thing. The dirty dishes sometimes sat at our table for over half an hour without being cleared away. But more orders kept coming. At some point it became quite cozy on the table. Unfortunately we won't be coming anymore.

Food is great but the orders don't come or come with a long delay. You should therefore pay attention to what has already been delivered or what has not arrived. They are also happy to make 3 orders on 1 plate. Ask how many portions are on 1 plate

I think ordering with an IPad is very innovative, but the first order with 5 people and an IPad takes quite a long time. The problem was that some of the dishes came on a plate and that caused a bit of confusion... better to put each order on a plate... the food was extremely tasty.. gladly again and at any time…

I love this restaurant.🥰 Super tasty, price absolutely acceptable. Sometimes the music is too loud, but this is usually recognized and adjusted automatically. When it's busy, you have to wait longer for drinks or to pay. It's understandable. Keeps within limits. I eat here regularly and although the crowds have exploded, the quality of the food remains. This is also an important point. Toilets are usually a challenge after eating as they are at the top and there is a long staircase between the square and the toilet. Nevertheless, there is also something pleasant about it. After all, a little exercise after eating won't hurt anyone! 😆 I'm already looking forward to my next visit, which is already planned.

For me it's one of the best restaurants for sushi and grill in the entire area. Everyone can find what they want here. If you're a little hungry, you can get away cheaper by ordering individual plates than with all you can eat, but no matter what you choose, the price is very fair and justified for this quality. Another highlight are the juices and spritzers. Short conclusion for two adults, both all you can eat 4 large drinks and tip approx. 90€.

Very good food and the service is perfect. Whether you absolutely have to go in the evening is up to you. We have now tried both and are of the opinion that there is not a big difference between the lunch offer and the evening offer and therefore the price difference is a bit much. But as I said, everyone should try it out for themselves.

We know Watami from Kempten in the Allgäu, which is why we went to Watami here in Gersthofen. The quality is great, the service is very fast! BUT compared to Watami in Kempten, not even half the selection of food. For just under 35 euros, the price-performance ratio in Gersthofen is not right.

Very friendly staff and the food was served very quickly. You could order a nice selection of food and drinks via the tablet, just as you would like to pay. I will definitely stop by here more often :)

Great food, pleasant ambience, nice staff. They should improve a bit the organisation of the orders_ we didn't received one ordered dish (from the menu, not from buffet). We discussed the issue with the waiters, they told they delete it but we still payed it at the end, being offered instead a whisky;) The red wine was served quite cold and in some general glasses,not for red wine. Promising start, hope they will work on improvements, as some real Japanese 👍

Simply recommended, especially if you don't know what you like, the "all you can eat" offer is great, no queuing at the buffet, every course is brought to you. You can order 5 dishes within 10 minutes and eat your way up and down the menu. Don't order the ice cream until the end, it's brought to the table very quickly.

What was that?! Atmosphere like in a crowded fast food restaurant, sushi like from the supermarket (maximum), overwhelmed, extremely hectic service, grilled chicken breast with an incredible amount of fat, not completely cooked yakitori skewers (...) You order via an iPad and all parts of the order come individually . The result: cold vegetables and cold rice when the meat comes to the table. The sushi comes on a sparse, carelessly "prepared" plate without wasabi and ginger. When we asked, we received it after 10 minutes. I've been to many, many Japanese restaurants in many places around the world, but this one doesn't even have good takeaway quality. I absolutely cannot recommend!!!
