Walzwerk Cafe in Schwetzingen

Today I spontaneously went to the Walzwerk in Schwetzingen. Great atmosphere as always, very friendly staff, and the Walzwerk burger was simply the best today.

Great atmosphere. The menu isn't huge, which is a good thing. They also have a seasonal menu. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous. There's something for everyone. The decor is lovely, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Parking is available in the parking garage, about a 5-minute walk away.

Simply great service, great food, great atmosphere

...what can I say, I've found a new source of income...card payment cost €4... And booking the card costs just a few cents. With 50 card payments a day, that brings in €200 a day...and an additional €6,000 a month... Really great...we've decided not to add anything else. Sorry we're no longer rating the service. Thank goodness I didn't order anything to eat, as I'd just been to my "favorite Chinese restaurant"! Consequently, I "only" ordered a Coke. I received a 0.33-liter bottle plus a glass. When I heard the price, I was almost shocked! The price was €4.50!!! (This equates to €13.50 per liter = DM 26.40!) €4.50 is equivalent to DM 8.80! A price of €2.50 to €3.00 for a banal 0.33-liter bottle of Coke would, in my opinion, still be acceptable. At home, I then read the food and drink menu. I recommend this to anyone who is hungry and thirsty. This place would make me lose my hunger and thirst; the high prices alone would make me lose my thirst instantly, even though it's nicely decorated. If you can and want to afford the hefty prices, this is the place for you! If you're put off by the high prices, like me, you'll definitely find something cheaper! In any case, I won't be going here anymore! Conclusion: The prices I mentioned may be quite common in big cities like Schwetzingen. However, since I live in the countryside, they're not common.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A real highlight on the Schlossplatz in Schwetzingen! In my opinion, the Waldwerk Schwetzingen is the best restaurant on the Schlossplatz – and for good reason! The food is fresh, delicious, and lovingly prepared, the service is incredibly friendly and attentive, and you immediately notice that the work here is done with passion. I would particularly like to emphasize the cleanliness: The glasses are sparkling clean, and the restrooms are immaculately maintained – something you unfortunately rarely find on the Schlossplatz. Everything is just perfect here: atmosphere, taste, quality, and service. If you're looking for good food in Schwetzingen – whether for lunch, dinner, or just a drink – you should definitely visit the Walzwerk on the Schlossplatz. Highly recommended!

My burger was cold, but it was promptly taken back and a new one served. However, it wasn't a taste sensation for €20 (just the burger). The service was okay.

All in all, a nice place. Great burgers. I had the Walzwerk Burger. Good value for money.

Very tasty dishes. I ordered the Flammkuchen with asparagus and baked cheese, it was amazing. My husband ordered the Schnitzel with asparagus, but his portion was really small.

Nice ambiance, tasty food, but you had to search for the schnitzel meat between the breading. It was ultra-thin, very little, and I felt it was disrespectful to serve me something like that. When we were asked if everything was okay and I pointed out the very thin meat, two people told me that was always the case at lunch. What a shame.

Very plentiful breakfast, super friendly staff..

The two of us went there for breakfast today because everything had looked good online. However, we were bitterly disappointed. The eggs were not only hard-boiled, but completely overcooked (grey edges on the yolk), the sausage and cheese were cheap quality, and the rolls and baguette were a disaster: mini party rolls, served piping hot. When cut with a blunt knife, the dough curled up stickily inside. The baguette slices must have been cut while hot in the kitchen and served as sticky pieces of dough. When I pointed this out to the waitress, she simply asked, "How, how, how?" and didn't understand the problem at first. Her response afterwards: I'll tell the kitchen. By the time I complained, we had already finished breakfast; perhaps I should have complained earlier. Nevertheless, baked goods in this condition are not allowed to leave the kitchen! Overall, the breakfast is truly not recommended.

We had a wonderful breakfast with our family. It's truly an incredible atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service wasn't particularly good.

We highly recommend Walzwerk. Unlike many large restaurants, this one is small but perfectly formed. The restaurant also has well-functioning air conditioning throughout! Friendly, flexible, and, importantly, customer-focused staff. That's unfortunately becoming increasingly rare these days. Compliments to the management for such motivated staff. "Can't do it..." doesn't exist here. Drinks and glasses are professionally chilled. The food is attractively served and tastes very good. We were pleasantly surprised by the professional coordination between the service and kitchen. Despite being very busy, we were served our various meals simultaneously, using several servers. We haven't seen that in a long time. Huge compliment. We feel very comfortable here. On top of that, you have a complete view of the Schlossplatz, crowned by Schwetzingen Palace in the background. We love coming here.

I was sitting outside, and I found it a bit loud with the motorcycles. The picture on the front page is no longer accurate; the rolling mill moved a long time ago to the other side of Schlossplatz. Next to the coffee house in the corner.

Great staff, the girls are incredibly friendly and on their toes! Breakfast was okay. A lot for one person, but unfortunately we had to leave some of it back because we were full. Sometimes less is more. Highly recommended nonetheless.

Unfortunately disappointing – with potential for improvement We had the turkey bowl and the turkey steak with vegetables. Unfortunately, the corn in the bowl was apparently fermented, which greatly diminished the enjoyment. The vegetables in the turkey steak were very oily, which overpowered the flavor. The drinks were also disappointing – the Campari Orange felt like there was no Campari in it. Suggestions for improvement: • Please pay attention to the freshness of the ingredients – especially with delicate components like corn. • A more balanced preparation of the vegetables would be desirable – less oil, more flavor. • A clearer recipe and a better mix for the drinks would be helpful. The ambiance was pleasant, and with a little more care in the kitchen and bar, the experience could have been much better.

We were there for breakfast. There were 10 of us. Tables were immediately pushed together and chairs brought out. Friendly service. Great atmosphere.

Top location with a beautiful view of the castle and the castle square. Delicious food and friendly service.

A pub for anyone with petrol in their veins. Marcus Walz has a real knack for this. We really enjoyed it.

A child is bitten by a dog! No reaction or assistance from the restaurant. The waitress said the dog was on a leash, which is completely unacceptable.

We've always been very satisfied—with both the food and the service. But today, we were deeply disappointed. We were out to dinner with our children, and they briefly stepped outside. Two women were sitting there with their dogs. Shortly after we paid, our little daughter came in crying and distraught—she said the dog had bitten her. Upon closer inspection, we realized the wound was deep, open, and so serious that we had to go straight to the hospital. There, it was cleaned and stapled. Of course—a dog can bite. That's an unfortunate situation that can happen. Our daughter was simply walking past the dog—she didn't touch it, pet it, or provoke it. The dog simply snapped at her as it passed. What really shocked us, however, was the reaction—or rather, the complete lack of any reaction. None of the people present asked how our child was. No apology, no sympathy, nothing. This is humanly disappointing and, frankly, completely unacceptable. When the server then came over and simply said, "The dog was on a leash," we felt completely let down. This comment was not only inappropriate at the time, but downright disrespectful. A simple, "How is your daughter?" would have made a huge difference. We've only had good experiences with you so far – but unfortunately, this incident leaves a very bitter aftertaste.

After ordering, breakfast arrived over an hour later. Didn't think it was fair that for 4 breakfasts only one bread basket with mini rolls and baguette slices came. The menu says there is a basket of bread rolls per breakfast and you don't have to share it with four people

Friendly staff and good food. Very special atmosphere. The owner is probably a well-known motorcycle tuner who integrates great pictures and objects from this area into the furnishings.

Definitely recommended. But you have to expect that you will be asked out before the end of the opening hours. That's what happened to us. On my birthday. At 11:20 p.m. the music suddenly stopped and then there was the last round (understandable) at 11:40 p.m. we were politely but firmly ushered out. We think it was just an oversight and will be back. Because the drinks and the ambience are very appealing.

As always, the service is very friendly, you never have to wait long and the food tastes very good. On sunny days you have to be lucky to get a place outside as it is quite small but we always enjoy going there and are glad that it is back

The food always tastes good. Good selection, unfortunately very few vegetarian/vegan dishes. Breakfast is also recommended.

We sat at the table for a good 20 minutes. No service staff came to our table or took any notice of us. Apparently they don't need customers. We left the restaurant. This is no way to treat guests. With such service, restaurants don't have to be surprised that they don't make enough sales.

Hello, Food is really good there... This is the third time we've eaten there... Everything tasted... Unfortunately, it's difficult to operate... you have to wave and do x times until you're served. We had to wait 20 minutes today until someone finally sat down to take our order. The last two times the service was always very slow. The young women could also be a lot more relaxed there... They enter everything into the PC, then it takes a while until it's set up... That means you can easily take 4 to 5 orders outside and then pick them up at the counter. They pick it up, run in and then wait inside for it to be fixed... a total waste of time... There needs to be proper training and the meaning of electronic ordering should also be understood. But the food is really good.

We like to go there, mostly for breakfast. It is furnished in a rustic style with a biker feeling, which comes across very well. The staff is very friendly, the selection is large and child-friendly. There are no play areas for children now but you wouldn't expect that there either. Highly recommended.

We were there yesterday as a large group. My conclusion: The ambience is beautifully designed in a racing look with many original parts, something like a hard rock café with a motorsport connection. Food was very tasty. We had burgers and wraps as well as various side dishes. But now to the best of the service. I'm really not easy to please, but yesterday everything went well, always in a friendly manner with a nice smile on my face and a lot of effort. A small point of criticism. The waffle with Nutella. Here the Nutella should not have been brought in a small hotel portion. Simply heat a glass of Nutella in a water bath and spread it in strips on the waffle. Then everything would be perfect. But even so, we had a great evening.

What was very good was the drink: Dr. Pepper! Because it was imported from the USA - and therefore tastes way better than the German bottling. So I also assume that Rootbeer or Mountain Dew are originally American. Unfortunately the waffle with cinnamon and sugar didn't taste good at all. My companion felt the same way. The waffle tasted kind of salty and the cinnamon and sugar didn't taste sweet. We each only ate half. When we told the waitress this when paying, there was very little reaction. The ambience is quite spruced up, but not my cup of tea. In summer it might be nicer in front of the building on Schlossplatz!

Everything is always great, service, food, ambience, everything is super good! Everyone is always friendly and prices are normal.

Very good restaurant. Has an interesting ambiance with hoods and racing ornaments. Service is nice but could be a little faster. I would recommend the Pinsa Magherita for dinner. 🤩

It was delicious and the service was very friendly.

We had breakfast here on a Sunday morning. I ordered the “Walzwerk Breakfast”: baguette and roll basket with a slice of Fitkorn bread, scrambled eggs with herbs, mushrooms, feta cheese and red onions, raw ham with honeydew melon, cooked ham, Emmental and soft cheese, butter and jam. To be honest, I was hoping for more than just packaged jam and butter with a few slices of cheese. But to be fair, the scrambled eggs were really good and flavorful. For the price of 15.50 euros (coffee not included) I'm not sure it's worth it to be honest. We would come back to try their entrees, but for breakfast we would rather go elsewhere.

The facility is very interestingly designed, especially if you are a racing fan. Unfortunately, the service was a bit slow, something was forgotten here and there, our food had been on the counter for over 5 minutes before we finally got it served. The food itself is rather average, although everything sounds great and super tasty, the taste could definitely be improved.

Very nice and good restaurant on the “In-Spot” Schloßplatz in Schwetzingen. Very good food (the bowls and burgers are top of the game), super fast and super friendly service, and the prices are also proportionate. Ambience very warm and cozy, also a bit special because of the decorative elements from the motorcycle and Formula 1 racing world by owner Markus Walz. Definitely a place to feel good.

Good food, but the amount on the lunch table is really not enough, at least if you don't get the burger. The quantity is appropriate, but if you order the Swabian plate and there are only 3 small pieces of meat in it with a handful of spaetzle, that's really not much and a bit cheeky. For comparison: At the coffee house next door you can get 2 large schnitzels, a large portion of fries and even a small salad for 10 euros for, strictly speaking, less money. So then I'll just order the burger or go to the coffee house instead.

Last Thursday my wife and I visited the restaurant more or less spontaneously because we were craving a burger. The service was simply excellent. I'm autistic and have a really hard time with lots of people in closed rooms. The lady who greeted us took us to a quiet table and asked several times if I felt comfortable here. Confident service excellence is obviously a living reality in the rolling mill. The burgers (cheeseburger, chesse & bacon) were on point. Hot, juicy, perfectly cooked, high quality tomatoes, onions and other side dishes. In short: a pleasure. We unreservedly recommend both the dishes we chose and the service.

The rating only refers to the coffee, but it was so bad that it completely undermined the otherwise generally good impression. There is certainly a useful address for Aperol Spritz, burgers and the like, but despite the name: 'Cafe<, you should definitely avoid this one. Somehow I have little understanding for fully automatic machine nonsense in the >non-canteen area<...

The Walzwerk has been our local restaurant from the very beginning. Great ambience, delicious dishes and very friendly staff. Even my friend from Eppelheim is thrilled. On Saturday we finally went to the new location for breakfast with a friend and were very excited. Very cozy atmosphere and we felt very comfortable. We'd love to come back.

También hay una oferta,que si por 24€ te dan 7 cervezas.Al salir nos regalaron dulces.Muy recomendable.Volveremos.

The service leaves a lot to be desired, the large coffee is not coffee but some coffee beans with a lot of water and the scrambled eggs with champions and herbs are very manageable. The prices are utopian high compared to the cost of goods. The service person who we pointed out about the thin coffee when paying at the counter said that she doesn't drink coffee and would pass it on. Of course, what I'm really interested in is whether the waitress eats and drinks everything else so that she can assess the guests' complaints! Is local is not recommended.

Very nice service and the drinks are pretty quick. I like the changing cards of the session. The food was tasty and sufficient. Price/performance was okay. Overall, I can recommend the store and we will definitely stop by again.

The food was delicious, one of the best cheeseburgers I've ever eaten, it was so juicy! The waitresses during the meal came across as really bored and unmotivated, but the lady at the cash desk was really great! Uncomplicated cocktails to go in a coffee mug were also very good!

Unfortunately the service is not that good. 1. You had to make it known three times that you wanted to order something to drink, but then no one came. For a Saturday evening, the rolling mill wasn't overcrowded, so much so that you could say the service ladies had too much to do. 2. If you ask if they have a vegan alternative that isn't on the menu, you'll be laughed at and not taken seriously!

We had breakfast/lunch at the rolling mill. But the new location didn't appeal to me at all. There was an unpleasant smell outside of sweat or sewage... I have no idea, at least not very pleasant. Unfortunately, it is no longer as big and beautiful as the old location. My better half ordered a steak. She enjoyed it very much. It was prepared the way she wanted it. I ordered the American breakfast and a freshly squeezed orange juice. Well, I was anything but satisfied. Because for the price a bit of white bread, 2 mini pancakes, some butter. Nutella and honey which you can also get in small packages on the plane. A leaf of lettuce, a halved tomato, a very thin slice of honeydew melon and a piece of toast with a fried egg, 3 slices of bacon and two sausages...oh yes and a bowl of loveless cereal with a glass of milk. So even an 8 year old child wouldn't get enough of it. Including Ojuice, my meal alone costs just under €25 Sorry for what please???? So I won't be eating breakfast at the rolling mill anymore. At least I can't recommend the American breakfast. The service, the three waitresses, were all very courteous and quick. There's nothing to complain about there. Actually, I'm always relatively generous when it comes to tips. But I only gave her a tip of €2.70 for the €65.30 bill. So rounded up to €68. Normally I would have given €70. But MY food wasn't satisfactory, Since the service was good, at least she got something.

The big screen for the 2024 European Championship is a huge deal.

Definitely 5/5 After we watched the second game of the group phase in another restaurant on the Schlossplatz and got far too small portions for our money, every euro for the burger menu in the Walzwerkcafe was worth it! Finally, food that fills you up when you're paying over 20 euros these days. Tastes great! And I don't even have to start with the screen. Top public viewing. The cafe has the fastest transmission, so that others even come to us when a penalty is given because they don't want the excitement to be taken away by the earlier celebration. Unfortunately, at some point there were no more glasses left for the iced tea/soda, which was also very good.

Delicious food and good service.

I had lunch at Walzwerk, which is now in the north eastern corner of the Schlossplatz in Schwetzingen. The Jägerschnitzel (Turkey) was great, which a wonderful gravy and wedges. Nice & quick service.

All good, but 18 euros for a salad is going too far. Extremely expensive menu, no small dishes or snacks under 10 euros. The drinks are also too expensive. Even in Berlin you pay significantly less for food. The whole Schlossplatz gastronomy is slowly going crazy. Increased prices are no excuse. Maybe ok for tourists, but absurd for regular, year-round guests and locals. I don't think it's okay. Don't eat there anymore.

Went there for a cafe, nice atmosphere outside on the forecourt of Schwetzingen Castle

Brewery restaurant located in the center of Schwetzingen, where you can eat very well-stuffed sandwiches. The interior decor is also very nice. Average prices.

I ate a burger there on Saturday, June 8, 2024 around 7 p.m. and felt sick afterwards. The grumbling in my stomach lasted until the next day. The pink sauce seemed like cheap ready-made sauce. There were also difficulties with paying and it is too expensive.

Nice atmosphere on the castle square. The food, we had a Caesar salad and a turkey bowl, was very good, as were the wines.. The service was correct, attentive and polite.

For American breakfast: Anyone who wants to pay over 20 EUR for two postage stamp-sized "pancakes", a small slice of toast with an unseasoned egg, two small strips of bacon (also unseasoned, didn't know that this was even possible with bacon) and two even smaller grilled sausages + a glass of multivitamin juice, is here precisely. Funnily enough, there is also peanut butter, blueberries and maple syrup in a small bowl, which you can't do anything with because nothing fits on the postage stamp pancakes. Or you stir everything into your thimble with cornflakes. Ambience, location...well wayne. Motorcycle parts on the wall also make the pancakes not normal size.

Since the move it has been very nicely decorated there. I've only ordered drinks there so far and can't judge the food.

Somewhat hidden clue only when man comes out of the castle. Good food also vegetarian and vegan.

Ambience really very cozy. Unfortunately the food was inedible, I had a goulash that was rock hard, when I pointed it out they just smiled tiredly. Fine for a leisurely drink, but for food I would recommend other restaurants.

Sat for 20 minutes, everyone around us was served, unfortunately we weren't. It was nowhere near full.

Burgers and salads are good, but unfortunately the milkshakes are absolutely not recommended. But the homemade iced tea and the homemade lemonade are delicious.

I used to be a frequent guest at the rolling mill, but now I don't like going there anymore. The prices have skyrocketed, the service is a bit of a gamble and unfortunately there are hardly any vegetarian (and no vegan) dishes.

The service was nice and friendly. But the breakfast was a disaster... The latte was more brown water without a foam head, the fried egg, the egg white on top was still raw, the pancakes were the size of a game chip and cold. The basket with the baguette slices consisted mainly of end pieces and the few slices pressed together and flat like a flounder. Absolutely no quality for the money. It used to be a lot better. Won't be eating there anymore.

No longer has the same quality as before

Good value for money. Pleasant and understanding service with children. Good beers and choice of soft drinks. However, one or two dishes could have been better garnished.

Ambiance outstanding. Very high quality and tastefully furnished. Furniture, decoration, pictures, the motorsport paraphernalia, really top. I also don't think the tables are too close together, which has often been wrongly criticized. When we were in, it was full and still a pleasant atmosphere, not loud. Food and selection okay - there is still room for improvement. The bowls sound interesting. Unfortunately no fries - they would be better as a side dish with the hamburger than the potato wedges. Prices are excessive. Cheeseburger with a side dish (potato or salad) costs €21.50. A glass of wine (0.2) €6.90. (By the way, dispensing 0.2 liters of wine is a bad habit. The Electoral Palatinate has always been a wine region and people drink “ä Värddl”. Then the price of 6.90 would be okay.) Good beer and wine selection. What I really disliked: Drinks are ice cold. The beer is borderline, but the wine is also served at 5 - 6°. I had to let the wine stand for 20 minutes before it could develop any aroma. From a restaurant with this level of sophistication and price, I expect the wine to be served at a temperature of 10 - 12°.

More than an alternative to the coffee house next door!

We went to the rolling mill for breakfast today. The breakfast menu can be viewed online, as can the prices. Two of my friends need milk alternatives for their coffee/latte/cappuccino. Unfortunately these are NOT available anymore. Neither lactose-free nor plant-based alternatives are offered. A pity. So there's not much left. We had the Schwetzinger breakfast. 2x with scrambled eggs, 1x country egg. Unfortunately, all three of us have to say that the rolls are terrible. We couldn't eat these. As the waitress told us - baked goods. Basically not bad, but incredibly tough, untasty, the baguette was also baked goods, dachy - instead of crispy. This is really a shame, as we have excellent bakers in the area where cooperation might make sense. A good bread/roll is the basis of a good breakfast. The scrambled eggs were just eggs without anything. Salt and pepper are at the table so you can season to taste. The country egg was a cold hard-boiled egg. The apple cake was ok - but cold. The plates were nicely prepared. Dishes and cutlery clean. Summary - we won't be coming back and won't recommend it - as far as breakfast is concerned. We are really disappointed and have said so and asked you to pass it on. Anyone who loves breakfast and enjoys eating will not get their money's worth here. In terms of price, you can get a much better breakfast alternative within Schwetzingen. The ambience and service were pleasant, although the seating was a bit tight. Good location.

Die Gaststätte ist nett eingerichtet, das Personal ist absolut freundlich, der Geschäftsführer ebenso, hier ist alles top und nichts zu beanstanden. Leider sitzt man etwas zu gepresst, man hat wirklich jeden Winkel ausgenutzt. Das Essen ist überteuert, die Flasche Wasser kostet 7,20 €. Ich weiß, dass die Mehrwertsteuer angehoben worden ist, aber das Problem ist, dass viele Gastronomen auch noch den Gewinn dazu addiert haben, auf die angehoben im Mehrwertsteuer. Nehme ich die angebotene Mehrwertsteuer wieder zurück, habe ich auch weniger Gewinn und muss nicht so viel an Steuern abführen. Wäre eine WIN WIN Situation, aber die Preise dort absolut unverschämt, zumindest was das Wasser und das Essen betrifft, als auch den kleinen Salat. Aber für einen Drink jederzeit zu empfehlen, da kann man auch gemütlich den Abend ausklingen lassen.

The service is absolutely excellent, everyone is very friendly, so I'm happy to give generous tips. The food is completely overpriced, as is the bottle of water for €7.20 and it's very tight in there, every millimeter was really used. That's not nice. But recommended at any time for a drink or if you want to end the evening.

Breakfast. Very unimaginative and ingredients relatively 'cheap'. It's ok, but not anymore. The service was also OK. Despite reservation and information that it is a birthday... No reaction whatsoever during the stay, this leads to a deduction. The ambience is nice to spend a nice time in the evening. Unfortunately far too dark for breakfast. But overall great ambience!

Haven't been to the rolling mill for a while. Finally at the old location. Burgers were very good, but wedges weren't tasty. There are also no fries, which doesn't seem that great. Service very nice and attentive. The atmosphere is very cramped and lacks the cosiness of the previous location. Overall it was very loud, even though there weren't many guests there.

Long waiting times, completely overpriced (but you already know that from Schwetzingen). Quality of food below average. Visually Wow, inside ugh. Has anyone ever seen moldy butter? Me, yes! In the rolling mill!
