Kaffeehaus in Schwetzingen

The shop is actually quite nice, the rustic atmosphere reminds me of student bars in the 90s, but that's not all they've retained from the past. The expensive food is not worth the money. Piece of feta in tomato sauce, with three olives and two pepperoni €13.90. Just made hot, it's not even worth half of it. With no seasoning, no spices and three stale slices of baguette, it would be short can toast, oh no matter, the best comes last: "Card payment is only possible from €25!" RIDICULOUS! Guys, you can pay your parking ticket with €1.50 by card at your door! What's wrong with you? Welcome to 2024!

I have been visiting the coffee house for decades, also because I lived in Schwetzingen for a while. A decline in quality has been noticeable in recent years. Either you wait 15 minutes or longer for service or you don't get any reasonable information about the cake selection. Just last Friday there was another negative experience. There was a long wait for service and then a cake with raisins was brought to me, even though the waiter had specifically ordered a pure apple cake. Cookies are now being avoided for hot drinks (Should I go to the metro with you?). My companion from Switzerland also gave up at some point because no waiter asked if we wanted anything else. We then paid directly at the checkout. I will avoid the coffee house from now on.

I was freezing. It is heated with candles... Quiche was old and also salad. Newspaper and cappuccino were very good.

We were there for breakfast on Sunday. You should definitely make a reservation, it is really full. The noise level is therefore quite loud. The service was very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. I paid 26 euros for a breakfast with 2 cappuccinos.

Because there was a lot going on due to the nice weather, the waiting times were a bit long. But the food was even more delicious. Clear recommendation.

Had made reservations in advance for a friends breakfast. That went really well, it was even possible. specify extra that was fulfilled) The ambience in the coffee house is great, just like we imagine a café restaurant to be. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast we treated ourselves to was very good and completely sufficient. Sylter and Spanish breakfast. Everything fresh and delicious. We find the price/performance ratio to be optimal. Conclusion: cozy atmosphere and excellent cuisine.

Very tasty vegetarian dishes, nice staff and, in my opinion, a nice ambience close to the wonderful castle park. We will stop here often. We were there at the beginning of October (2024) in the afternoon after visiting the castle park.

You can still be so good... No matter how great the location is… BUT: With today's service it's more than underground 4-5 waitresses run around haphazardly, no one knows exactly where the table is with the things they are carrying out and asks loudly the next person and after 2 times ask if you can order and on the 3rd time they are looked at and told that someone else is responsible with foreign trade half occupied... 35 minutes of waiting time is an outrage! Sorry - doesn't work!

We were in Schwetzingen as part of an assembly. The coffee house was very nice. The staff is friendly and tries to please everyone. The schnitzels were amazing. Absolutely recommended. Price-performance ratio is not only right, it is really good. Gladly again at any time.

Don't understand why this restaurant only (currently) has 3.7 stars on Google. Yes, it is anything but cheap, but these are the fewest restaurants in Schwetzingen. The atmosphere is nice and rustic and the food, at least what we ordered, was also great. The “Windsor” salad was perfect and the “Kaffeehaus” tarte flambée was also very good. The service was very nice. The cocktails were also good and most importantly there wasn't a bunch of ice in there to stretch the drink - there wasn't any in it at all, just an ice cold cocktail.

3 different waiters at our table. Long wait to take order. Food was very tasty (vegetarian tarte flambée and cheese spaetzle).

Coffee house out 👎 We wanted to celebrate my niece's marriage proposal there, unfortunately the evening would be ruined. - Waiting time for food was 2 hours, which we were not informed about (with the argument - not enough staff in the kitchen, after 1 hour of waiting and demand) - untrained staff (asked twice when the food would come because the child was hungry, the waiter Felix said he had no idea when the food would come, I should ask in the kitchen myself). - no management present, only very young people who are not able to solve problems (instead of acting and pointed out to another waitress that the food was only ordered 45 minutes ago instead of 1 hour.. she checked the cash register .. ) - after 1.5 hours we still didn't get the food and when we were paying the bill the waiter laughed and told us that we don't need to worry, the rump steak and schnitzel weren't on it, where my niece just wanted to check what she had to pay . So conclusion I've often been to the coffee house for breakfast, parties and just eating... but I've lost interest in this place.

Hello Sat outside today and enjoyed the evening. When the waiter (young man) came, without saying "hello" or making eye contact, we placed our order. 1 beer and 0.5 liters of white burgundy Waiter came and brought the drinks. Unfortunately the wrong wine came (Weißherbst), which isn't a bad thing. When the waiter came to bring the wine again and almost slammed the carafe on the table and didn't say anything about it, it seemed very rude. We ordered a tarte flambée from our colleague, who was super friendly. The young man seemed very arrogant and annoyed, which was a shame. Unfortunately we didn't feel comfortable this time...

I’ve been visiting The Kaffeehaus Schwetzingen for years, but my last experience was extremely disappointing. The service was poor, and it was clear that management didn’t seem to care or make any effort to address the issues. To top it off, there was no Wi-Fi available, which added to the frustration.

After a visit to Schwetzingen Castle, we wanted to stop here for a coffee. After a nice, short conversation with the first waitress, we were allowed to push two tables together and sit down - so far so good. After waiting for a while, a second waitress came to the table and complained bluntly that we weren't allowed to move the tables. When we objected that we had been allowed to do this, the answer was that that couldn't be the case, we shouldn't be so cheeky and rearrange the tables again. She then asked us if we would like something to drink. We then decided to have a drink at the Celine Restaurant & Hotel across the street and can only recommend the friendly service there!

Ice-cold hot chocolate, Kaiserschmarrn also cold and everything comes at different times (e.g. drink 30 minutes after cake). The invoice shows more than was ordered. Not recommended.

Sehr unfreundliche Bedienung. Das Kaffeehaus in Schwetzingen kenne ich von früher als ich noch in der Region gelebt habe. Es hat sich hier einiges verändert, aber was mir am meisten aufgefallen ist, war die Entwicklung, dass der Gast hier nicht mehr König ist. Die Damen, die sich hier desinteressiert auf der Terrasse hin und her bewegen, scheinen eine freundliche Begrüßung nicht für nötig zu halten, sondern ignorieren den Gast erst einmal eine Weile. Erst auf Nachfrage, ob man bestellen dürfe, wird man missmutig und ohne ein Lächeln wahrgenommen. Vielleicht hatte die Dame ja nur einen schlechten Tag oder ich hatte einen schlechten Tag mit einer schlechten Bedienung erwischt. Schön war es jedenfalls nicht. Bei uns in der Kneipe sind die netter 😉

There were two of us and we actually wanted to go out for dinner. We stood around in the entrance area for about 10 minutes until we were finally offered a pretty crumbled, sticky table. Another 10 minutes later, a waiter came and wiped the table clean with a really dirty sponge. I then wiped at a faster pace because I was just disgusted. In general, the store as a whole just seemed dingy to me, the floor, the mirrors... everything was somehow so shabby. We still ordered food (two large salads) and had to wait a long time for it. Yes, there was something going on, but "our" waiter was just completely helpless and ran back and forth for every glass - just totally out of place... No, it just wasn't nice there and the food was okay at best. Absolutely nothing special and just too dirty for my taste.

The food was great, the service was great, why do the toilets always have to be neglected? They were dingy and disrupted the actually positive overall picture. Of course the many guests make it dirty. But it doesn't have to stay that way. The fast food chains do this.

Ich war heute am 15.09.2024 gegen 17.30 mit meine Freundin was trinken gegangen,haben halbe Stunde gewartet auf Bestellung, haben wir eine ziemlich Große Junge Mann Bedienung gerufen,kamm zu uns sehr unfreundlich und gesagt das wir sollen nicht schreien , nach dem wo Bestellung endlich aufnehmen wollte haben wir uns erst zwei caffè bestellt hat aber gleich unfreundlich gesagt das wir teather gemacht haben wegen 2 Getränke,wir waren sehr entsetzt nach seine Aussage,ich denke wenn diese Junge hat keine Spass an seine Arbeit dann soll sich lieber andere Job überlegen,weil mach das keine gute Eindruck für Kunden.

Ich komme seit mehr als 30 Jahren in dieses Lokal. Ich bin ein großer Fan der Salate und liebe das Ambiente. Leider kann ich das Kaffeehaus nicht mit "sehr gut" bewerten, da der Sanitärbereich absolut unterirdisch und ungepflegt ist. Um einen Besuch des Sanitärbereichs zu vermeiden, spare ich an den Getränken. Das sollte euch missfallen.

As always, the atmosphere outside is great. The food is good value, especially the lunch time specials. I really enjoyed the pasta with salmon and shrimp.

I was always a regular customer. I was there on a Saturday and there were only a few customers. Service arrived after 20 minutes and my latte still wasn't there 25 minutes later. I rode my bike to the competition. At the table next to me some people came later and quickly had their drink

Were there for breakfast. The portions are more than tiny for a high price, we were really shocked when the plates came.. Update Judging by your good overall star rating and the coffee house is definitely not known for sumptuous breakfasts :D

I'm going to the coffee house for brunch. The food is always very good and appetizingly prepared. The team there is without exception very friendly and polite.

Ordered the Kurpfalzschnitzel from the lunch menu 3 times yesterday at 1:30 p.m. After 30 minutes without food I asked the waitress where the food was. Shrugging his shoulders - there's just a lot going on right now..... (ha ha!) At 2:30 p.m., after ONE HOUR without food, the service staff told us that it didn't work that way! All the guests who arrived about 20-30 minutes after us had already received their food. No apology, no admission of having done anything wrong, just evasive theories. I canceled the meal because I didn't want to wait any longer. I've never experienced anything like this before. Left the restaurant very upset with an empty stomach. It goes without saying that I had to pay for the drinks. Nobody did anything wrong. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Unfortunately, the service is a complete disaster. Even though the restaurant wasn't particularly full, we waited forever for our breakfast and a tarte flambée. First half of the Spanish breakfast came, then nothing else for 15 minutes. Then, as we asked, the rest came bit by bit. Our waitress was never in sight, when I asked for more drinks at the counter they couldn't/wouldn't help me and referred me to the waitress. So we didn't have a chance to order drinks during the entire visit. Not really nice at 32 degrees. Our first order was 2 bottles of water and a pot of coffee. There was no ice in 2 of 4 glasses and the water was unfortunately lukewarm, but since the waitress couldn't be found, we drank them. However, it has to be said that the food was extremely tasty and very plentiful. If you had somehow managed to bring them in at the same time, everything would be fine from this point of view.

The service only comes if you actively get up after 15 minutes and speak to them while standing (but it is also unfriendly and not attentive), the food itself tastes like it came from the freezer and at the end there are wild drinks on the bill didn't order. Unfortunately, it was only when I got home in Mannheim that I noticed that there were things on the bill that we never ordered; the whole store is a pure tourist rip-off

Als langjährige Gästin kann ich sagen, dass das Frühstück wie immer sehr gut war. Der Service war äußerst freundlich, jedoch gab es teilweise lange Wartezeiten. Allerdings ist zu beachten, dass der große Außenbereich gut gefüllt war. Was mich jedoch sorgt sind die sanitären und hygienischen Zustände die auf der Damentoilette seit einiger Zeit herrschen. Hier muss zeitnah was passieren, denn in der Preisklasse in der sich das Kaffeehaus bewegt, ist so ein Sanitärbereich meiner Meinung nach nicht vertretbar.

It is a place with a very high atmosphere and energy. The employees are attentive, but they stay a little late because they are busy. There was live music in the square next to it, it was enjoyable to eat along with the music.

I had breakfast there, the Swiss breakfast. Very tasty, plentiful and especially the Bircher muesli was very, very tasty. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere on the Schwetzinger Schlossplatz was good anyway

Rarely do I leave a bad review but this place deserves it! Forget about the food, drinks and atmosphere. Staff is so unpleasant and rude that it makes dining experience a misery. Rude & disrespectful lady who really kept a lasting impression. Owners should think who they hire. Save your money and go to another place

Disappointing experience at the coffeehouse Unfortunately, our visit to the coffee house was anything but satisfactory. The schnitzel was tough and the sauce had an unpleasant, sticky consistency. There were also some brown leaves in the salad, which further spoiled the overall impression. The dirty glass we had to drink from was also unacceptable. We've had much better experiences in the past, and at a cheaper price. After this experience we won't be returning for a long time. It's a shame because we were looking forward to a pleasant evening.

Great atmosphere and delicious food, I can only recommend it. The service was also very nice and helpful. There are new offers every day. We were there on Tuesday evening and they had salads on offer. I had the “Windsor Salad”. It tasted really delicious and the portions were very large. The only thing that bothered us was it was very loud. Maybe it was because it was raining heavily and the guests had to come in from outside, but even before that it was very loud, especially the music playing in the background. I'm sure it's much more pleasant to sit outside when the weather is nice.

My first impression was rather sobering, but the longer I sat there the better I liked it. I was only there for coffee and cake. The prices are, as expected, high, but completely ok for the location. The service was very courteous and friendly. The longer I sat there the more I saw of the food that came out and it all looked very good. I can't tell you what bothered me either, but when you consider how big the store is and how many guests are served here at the same time, I find it almost unbelievable that everything runs so smoothly. And as I said, the food at least looked very good.

We were there for breakfast on a Friday. There wasn't much going on, our waitress was perhaps trying hard, but unfortunately very erratic. The scrambled eggs came to the table cold, we had ordered for outside including a sausage variation and muesli, etc. When the sausage came, it was unbearable outside, there were endless wasps. So we asked for a table inside, since the coffee house can't do anything for the wasps. But the waitress didn't want to sit us down and instead put glowing coffee grounds on the table. That didn't help. Only another waitress helped us go inside. Our waitress didn't show up for any further coffee requests. So I'm at the counter myself. The tip was just as poor... Coffee house: take a better look at your staff. With 5cm nails stuck on you can't enter anything properly on the order pads and so the waitress billed incorrectly three times while we were there. The calculation didn't add up for us either. The upholstery inside should be reupholstered.

I've been coming here for years and I've also taken a lot of friends here with me, they were all thrilled. The first time at the end of 1980, again yesterday. There was neither a café restaurant like this back then nor to this day, neither in Darmstadt nor in Neuwied. The service is always top even when it's packed! Went there on Friday evening and took a seat at one of the free tables. (Utilization approx. 65% at the time) We left after about 25 minutes of waiting. Unfortunately, 3 service employees were standing in front of the door and were talking intensively, but unfortunately they didn't have an eye on any of the tables.

Even though it's always a bit hectic because it's busy (which is a good sign), I always enjoy coming here. They have the best Italian salad in the entire region here... (It's disappeared from the menu for a while, but there's probably more than just me who's a fan. In any case, it's back now.) The coffee house has the charm of the cafés of my youth... (The Café Journal on the main street in Heidelberg. E.g.) So it's partly nostalgia and partly a general opinion that this place is "good". Everything is pretty much correct here. Always nice.

So first of all, the ambience. Schwetzingen at Schlossplatz doesn't need to be said anymore. The only drawback was our wobbly table. *lol* In terms of service, you could say that it would be faster, but due to the high number of visitors in the evening, I consider that to be normal. Food took about 30 minutes from ordering to delivery. Had the ratatouille pan with garlic baquette. Food was ok so far. Vegetables weren't too hard and not too soft, so they were on point for me. The whole thing is gratinated with cheese and tomato sauce. Absolutely perfect in terms of taste. I would have liked the garlic baquette to have a little less roasted flavor, but that's the only point of criticism. That doesn't mean that others don't like it that much.

I was served a dirty drink. The bottle was covered in black mold spots. Really disgusting. The service wasn't good. The truffle tagliatelle is drowned in cream and parmesan. Hardly a trace of truffles. The ambience is wonderful.

Very nice restaurant, food was delicious. One of the best meals we've ever had in the restaurant, everything fresh. French toast, Kaiserschmarren and much more are offered as dessert. An absolute hammer. The service was OK, but they were very overwhelmed.

For the first time in 20 years I own a catering business leave..... WITHOUT leaving a tip... That's supposed to mean something.... We wanted to sit down here before the concert in the castle (PUR 02.08.24), so after asking if we could sit down we were directed to an uncleared table and took a seat. After 15 minutes the table was cleared... not wiped and a card was placed on the table... after another 15 minutes the order was taken... at least reference was made to the high volume of guests and pointed out that there will be a 20-30 minute waiting time when eating... Then we were presented with 2 warm beers... No chance of complaint as they cheekily ignored us!! I've never experienced it before... New guests were welcomed around us and we continued to be ignored... When after an hour (it's not an exaggeration) around us, the guests who came after us had all eaten... it was too much for me... I went to the counter and asked the person in charge during the shift..... I was asked with the words..... "Someone wants to complain.haha...no one has been to the toilet here in the last 2 hours and they want to complain"..... Me I didn't want to know when his needs would be met, I wanted a sensible contact person... then the service person who ignored us for over an hour stepped in and at least listened to me... She went into the kitchen and immediately had the food we ordered in her hand... It had probably been in the warming cupboard for a while... That's what it seemed like...LUKEWARM.... However, the fries and the sauce on the schnitzel were still tolerable... So warm beer and cold food... I wanted to leave quickly, so I had to pay for that. I had to go to the counter at the EC shop .... paid quickly and then gone..... So..... no more coffee houses in Schwetzingen!! I stand by the criticism and have not exaggerated it. The Schwetzinger Schloßplatz offers flair. Enjoyment of life. Gastronomy as far as the eye can see. And of course the “coffee house”. For Father's Day we treat ourselves to breakfast again. An impressively cheerful waitress speaks like the singer Elif and looks quite similar to her. Despite the fully occupied terrace and a lot of stress, she shines confidently in competition with the sun. She has a friendly saying on her lips for every guest. Soon she will also bring our breakfast. As we each order another tea, she comes to our table a little later with a toast: “Ta’daa…!”, a coffee and a cappuccino. I respond lovingly: “I was happy too soon!” She laughs, goes to the next table, picks herself up and happily repeats: “Ta'daaa…!”, serves the hot drinks and continues to scurry back and forth between taking the order, the terrace and the kitchen here. Tireless. With ease. - When we want to pay with a debit card, she says: “I'll wait for you at the checkout.” When I go in, she's gone again. Five minutes later she comes back to the counter from the kitchen, smiles, apologizes and thanks me for my patience - all in one breath. I compliment her on her professional confidence and add promisingly: “See you next time.” She follows up with: “Feel free to leave a review on Google!” - I would also like to know Elif’s real name. - Now the “coffee house” gets a five-star rating that actually only she deserves!😉

We went for breakfast and I have to say there was nothing to complain about.

There is a sign at the entrance that directs you to a place. 5 minutes later and six employees who skillfully ignored us and neither greeted us nor assigned us a seat. The waitress seemed very bored and annoyed that she had to walk to the back of the cafe. Way too far? The waiting time between the hot drinks and breakfast was 25 minutes, unfortunately a bit too long. The breakfast was absolutely fine, unfortunately we won't come again because we just missed the friendliness and warmth here. A pity. We remember it being much better in previous years.

We were there at 10am for breakfast. It took 20 minutes until we got our coffee. The waitress occasionally apologized for the long wait. OK, I thought, if breakfast comes now everything will be fine. But we were wrong, it still took over an hour for breakfast to arrive. Having to wait 1.5 hours for breakfast is unacceptable. We weren't forgotten either, as the waitress kept putting us off. We wanted to have a nice day, but instead we went home in a bad mood. Even the most beautiful ambience is of no use if you have to wait 1.5 hours for your breakfast. We cannot recommend the house more highly.

We were in the coffee house. The iced coffee was served without vanilla ice cream. When asked: "That can't be right." Unfortunately, the response to this was not customer-friendly. A pity. It's no longer an option for us.

We had breakfast here this morning and unfortunately I am very disappointed and frustrated. Our waitress was a nice young woman, 2 unfriendly and disrespectful waiters brought the food and literally threw it on the table. Food was brought incorrectly, I tried to explain what my order was and then the waitress (blonde young woman with ponytail and big glasses) became loud and rude. I really regret the visit, even though I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately we won't be coming again.

Kaffeehaus does not disappoint! I love the current menu with lots of Mediterranean influence. Really tasty food and plenty of vegetarian options. The staff is friendly. Outside is a large area of tables covered by sun umbrellas. First come first served. Inside is an old style coffeehouse -- warm and welcoming in the cooler or rainy weather. We've been there many times over 30 + years-- nice to see them going on at the Schwetzinger Schlossplatz.

Nice service and super delicious food

Although it was Wednesday lunchtime and there wasn't much going on, many of the staff were neither particularly quick nor particularly friendly... we had to wait 30 minutes for our "lunch" breaded schnitzel. Exchanging the fries for potato salad would have cost 3.50, "because you can't do any extra work with a cheap lunch." By the way, the beer was way too warm! As before: what a shame about the beautiful location! But the tourist only comes once. ....and everyone from Schwetzingen seems to have a very long lunch break!

Nach dem letzten Besitzerwechsel finden wir die Speisekarte noch besser, die Speisen sind auch etwas größer geworden, was nun auch zum Preis passt, das Geschirr ist moderner etc. Klasse finde ich, dass die Frühstückskarte auch um einiges erweitert und modernisiert wurde, alte Klassiker wie z.B. bestimmte Salat wurden beibehalten. Klar ist hier der Preis etwas höher, aber dafür hat man ein bestimmtes Ambiente gerade im Sommer (ist wie Urlaub). Das Servicepersonal ist super, freundlich und wirklich flink.

The behavior of the young and arrogant waitress who was unwilling to work really damaged the mood at the table.

The food was excellent and service was very nice.

The breakfast was tasty, but very simple. The young lady who “served” us was very friendly and nice. The chairs are extremely uncomfortable. We certainly would have ordered more and stayed longer, but the chairs made us move to another location.
