Waldschenke "Zur Eisernen Weinkarte " in Bernkastel-Kues

This was our second time eating here, and both times it was absolutely delicious 😍 The service and the owner are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The restaurant's location is also exceptional – right in the middle of the vineyards. Dogs are also well catered for with fresh water. We will definitely be back 😋

We relied on the good reviews and were not disappointed in the slightest. We received a super friendly welcome, and the food arrived very quickly after we ordered. The platter was huge for two people and almost filled us to the brim. It was incredibly flavorful and beautifully presented. The owner even cracked a few friendly jokes along the way. The food was absolutely delicious. We'll definitely be back soon to try some of the other dishes on the menu. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

I'm so full. Eating the baked cheese before the main course was definitely too much for us... but the cheese was so delicious! So we had some to take home. Beautiful view, we even caught the sunset. The drive through the vineyards was definitely worth it.

Hiking the Mosel Camino, we stopped for a cappuccino break at the Waldschenke. Beautiful, rustic ambiance in a stunning location with a breathtaking view. Very friendly service! We'll definitely be back!

I was here for the first time tonight – and I have to say: absolutely GREAT! 🌟 Amazing view, super delicious food, and incredibly friendly service. The portions are quite large and taste really good. I'd definitely come back! So if you're ever in the area, definitely go there!

We would have loved to enjoy a cold drink and something to eat after a strenuous climb. Unfortunately, contrary to the stated opening hours, we only found this sign and many disappointed faces. The atmosphere and the full ashtray at the entrance weren't particularly inviting either. Perhaps they'll take it as well-intentioned feedback.

Once you make it to the top, you'll be rewarded with a fantastic view, friendly staff, and a delicious glass of wine. We were on our bikes and only stopped to catch our breath. Therefore, I can't comment on the full offerings (food, etc.).

We've eaten here several times. The view and the ambiance are simply fantastic. The family who owns it is very hospitable. The service is very attentive, but not intrusive. The food is delicious. The grill plate is highly recommended, as the meat is freshly prepared on a large wood-fired grill. The portions are generous and the taste is excellent. We were there at the end of August, and that day, Vali and Tobi played live music. You can really enjoy yourself here. See you soon!

Friendly and very hospitable. No pressure. Good portions, tender and flavorful.

As a vegetarian the menu did not offer any main dish unfortunately. But the soup was great and the appel dessert was 10/10 too. But I would recommend to offer at least 1/2 dishes without meat.

Unfortunately, after a change of management, the restaurant is no longer recommended. The "veal platter with regional specialties" tastes more like a discount store. The staff is friendly, but the food is rather disappointing.

It was a very delicious meal. I had a robber's plate as an adult, which was no problem. Very friendly service from the initial introduction to the final farewell.

Apparently, there was a change of management about a year ago. Older reviews are very negative. We stopped in today after a beautiful, rainy hike and were delighted. Very cozy, super friendly staff, delicious homemade grape spritzer and fantastically seasoned chicken breast with fries, and white cabbage salad on request. It's a rather hidden place. But those who find it will be rewarded.

I can't confirm the rather good reviews. The skewered kebab and chicken were good. Currywurst was average, and there weren't many fries. Something was left out of every dish. Service was very slow, even though it wasn't busy.

Beautiful quiet tavern Right on the edge of the forest you have a beautiful view of the vineyards and also of the Mosel

If you're looking for a break from the tourist crowds and want to get some exercise beforehand, walk from the old town through the vineyards to the Waldschänke (Waldschänke). After a good half-hour hike, you'll be rewarded with delicious freshly prepared food and a beautiful view of the Moselle Valley. My recommendation: the sausage duet (with garlic on top) with fries and salad.

If you walk, it's definitely worth it! Gorgeous views, a very good chef's platter, and friendly and welcoming service. Also very child-friendly and accommodating! Everything is just right here, and we'd love to come back!

We stopped by in the afternoon before the heavy rain started and stopped for a drink. A wonderful atmosphere with a fantastic view of the Moselle and Bernkastel-Kues. The staff was very friendly and provided excellent service. Other guests had ordered food, which looked delicious. If we hadn't had a reservation for the evening, we would have loved to stay for dinner.

We stopped there with six other people after a bike ride. We received a very friendly welcome and the atmosphere is simply wonderful. All the staff were very friendly and approachable, and our special requests for our food were fulfilled. The food was delicious and our waitress was always there for us. The journey is the destination, and if you're in the area, a detour is definitely worth it. All we can say to the team is, keep up the good work; you don't find service like this very often these days. 👍🤗

What hospitality and what a location! We walked to Waldschenke several times during our short stay on the Mosel. The food is fantastic and the staff are incredibly friendly. Highly recommended!

Getting there from Graach-Schäferei is a bit tricky. From Bernkastel, it's no problem. Very good service. Excellent food cooked over a beechwood fire. Prices are absolutely reasonable. You feel at home here and the food is excellent! Keep it up! Reservations recommended.

The young team is super friendly, fast, and highly motivated—that's what service should be! The Balkan delicacies were very impressive, especially thanks to the rotisserie grill over an open fire. The Waldschenke is beautifully situated on the edge of the forest, high above the rooftops of Bernkastel-Kues. The courtyard has a very cozy atmosphere. We'd be happy to come back.

It was quite an undertaking to get there by bike from Zeltingen... a wrong turn and some rather steep roads... But the food, the friendliness, and the atmosphere made up for everything. Tip: the local wine is also great 😋

Reaching the place on foot or by bike is already exhausting. Being told you can't get in because they expect a private party is awful. A notice about this should be included on the website!

We had a wonderful, sheltered spot with a beautiful view. After we ordered our food, the staff member told us to take another seat because a reservation had been made for the table (by friends of the manager). Since we couldn't get a comparable seat, we canceled the meal and left. On the way out, I told the manager that this wasn't okay with us. He simply said that it had all been a misunderstanding and that the waitress had misunderstood and acted incorrectly. Somehow, I don't believe that and had the feeling that he was hiding behind his staff.

A lovely place overlooking the wineyards of the Mosel river. Well worth a hike, bike tour or drive for evening dinner. Balkan-inspired BBQ made a nice change to the more traditional German food in the village. Recommended!

We arrived on a sunny Sunday evening around 6:30 and were able to choose a table right away. The atmosphere here was like sitting in a forest hut from the past. The smell of meat and vegetables that were roasted over an open fire greeted you! Delicious! Add to that the view over the Mosel and the picture is complete! We ordered a grillteller with bratkartoffelen for 2 people, more than enough for one person to eat! It really had a lot of flavor! We recommend eating here!
