Waldschenke "Zur Eisernen Weinkarte " in Bernkastel-Kues

We enjoyed a great dinner in the rustic atmosphere. The chef's plate was professionally prepared and very tasty. The service was super nice and it was a completely successful evening. We will definitely come here again on our next stay in Bernkastel-Kues.

We stopped here twice after hiking during our short break over Easter. The drinks were great and the food was extremely tasty. The meat from the swivel grill = 10/10 :) the portions were optimal for the hunger after a hike. Only recommended!

We had lunch with 14 people at the Waldschenke Eiserne Weinkarte, very good, rich, delicious food. You two are nice, friendly hosts, keep it up!!

A very great restaurant. Once you have mastered the effort of the climb, there is a great panorama. (Of course it was there before, but you can enjoy it with delicious wine from the vineyards) Additionally, a great team and very nice, dog-friendly operators. If we vacation in the area again we will definitely come back But the best thing is simply the food. The grill plate is simply melting away. And the homemade fries with the chicken fillet were also very tasty.

We stopped here spontaneously during a short hike. Mimi was super friendly and funny. What was supposed to be a short visit turned into a cozy get-together with two bottles of wine. Only recommended. We didn't eat anything ourselves, but the others looked really great yesterday. Always happy again!

Had to wait a long time before someone came to take our order. After waiting an hour after order taking, people were served after us, but they kindly asked when we would get our food. After this the 'waiter' came to tell us that we had not waited long enough. Finally got our food. We asked for the bill. We wanted to pay by card. The waitress found that very annoying and showed this by rolling her eyes. Very unfriendly service. Never again!

Went on a mountain bike. We almost drove past, but braked in time. Didn't expect it to be open at all. We had a fresh salad and a gratinated cheese with a super tasty bread. Really delicious 😋. The house wine was also delicious. Great service that came from the heart. Thank you very much again for your hospitality.

Beautiful location and somewhat clumsy decor. Great food and super friendly owner who helped us. We are in the early season, so it is very quiet, but honest food for a good price and.... Choice of really local wines of top quality for a reasonable price. So from the local winegrower a few meters away. So great!

We held our Christmas party here. The food was super tasty and the staff was really friendly. It was like having a meal with the family. Everything fit and was perfect. Due to not enough people, the grill was not lit. I had the grilled vegetables and they were tasty but the portion was very small (and I am a small eater): half a pepper, 2 slices of onion and about 10 slices of zucchini. My husband had the falafel and it was great! The view is beautiful and it is nice to sit after a good walk.

Unfortunately, we only stopped for a drink during our hike because we only had a short time! A really great atmosphere, totally rustic and very cozy, very nice boss, it's best to stop by yourself! We'll come back when we're in the region and definitely for dinner!

We were given a tip to try Macedonian cuisine and were quite satisfied with the food - prepared on the swivel grill. Since it was a bit too cold to go outside in the evening, we were given a seat in the unfortunately very uncomfortable restaurant. If you're looking for a really good wood-fired steak, you've come to the right place. The boss personally stands at the large swivel grill and prepares everything over the fire. Meat and vegetables (grilled peppers) to the point. Perfect! Plus delicious fried potatoes and a wheat or a glass of red wine with a view over the Moselle. What more could you want? P.S.: you can actually drive up by car, but it will be tight ;-)

The climb... a bit demanding. That's how you deserve your food. The ambience, rustic, warm (thanks to the oven), cozy. The service was friendly and on point. The food tasted very good. The portions are good and you'll feel full after a day of hiking. Recommended

Superfreundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung. Die Grillplatte für 2 war genial. Die Speisen auf den anderen Tischen haben auch alle sehr gut ausgesehen. Die Anfahrt durch die Weinberge war auch sehr schön, teilweise ein bisschen abenteuerlich. Wahrscheinlich besser für Wanderer und Radfahrer geeignet.

After a steady walk up from Bernkastel, you reach the Waldschenke after about 30 minutes. Great view but poor service. After we wanted to order food on Saturday around 12.15 p.m., the waitress told us that there was no food at the moment because the larger groups had to be served first. Without words!

A beautiful place to stay, the food is delicious and the service is very friendly. Whenever we hike nearby, we take a break there.

During a hike to Maria Zill (mountain), we stopped there on the way back. That day was also the Middle Moselle Wine Festival in Bernkastel-Kues. The location was only attended outside. There were no guests inside. but it was also 31 degrees that day. The outside area was completely full. There were also 2 larger groups of people (approx. 15 people each) on this terrace. Since we didn't have a reservation, we could only have our drinks at a barrel table. There was an open wood grill in operation and the food served there smelled fabulous. The view from there is excellent (the Moselle loop, the district of KUES opposite and the spa facilities, the vineyards, the district of Wehlen and the sheep farm. The outside restaurant is also largely covered. Definitely worth a visit. From Bernkastel it's about an hour's walk up through the vineyards.

A super quaint and at the same time cozy place. Grilling takes place over an open fire. It feels like you're sitting in a bar in the Giant Mountains that Rübezahl built himself. The food is a delight, the drinks menu leaves nothing to be desired and the young, super friendly couple running the place rounds things off perfectly. Keep it up. We wish you all the best and hope to see each other again next year.

We happened to pass here while on a hike. Super great, simple but really nice atmosphere. The food, meat skewers from the swivel grill, was very tasty. The salad with feta cheese was also very good. Other guests' plates also looked great. Thank God you won't find SchickiMicki here. Gladly again. Keep it up!

Very tasty food, we had sausage salad with fried potatoes for the day's dinner, we got sausage salad with bread, but after our comment the boss immediately brought a new portion of fried potatoes which was on the house, we got watermelon for dessert as a small compensation. The boss is very accommodating, always has a relaxed saying on his tongue. We can highly recommend the Waldschänke. Great grill on site... Unfortunately our time here is too short to test again.

Walk 1500 m up from Bernkastel! Stop often along the way and look around! Enjoy the vineyards and the expansive views that open up! At the end you will be rewarded with a hospitable restaurant with drinks and food of the best quality in a pleasant atmosphere. We recommend the grilled specialties, which are professionally prepared with the best meat.

Great excursion restaurant in the middle of the vineyards above Bernkastel. Very nice and friendly innkeepers. The food comes straight from the charcoal grill and tastes great. I usually like to write positive reviews. Unfortunately not today. Curious because of the many great reports from others and the pictures of grilled food etc., we set off joyfully and hungry. The beer garden was well attended and yes, a wonderful spot in the vineyards. Then the menu came and the fun was over. Just a small card. Nothing from the grill. Nothing Croatian. Instead, sausage salad, tarte flambée, etc. We asked the waitress about grilled food and she said: The grill will be turned on at 12. But it was already after 1 p.m. Then she said. Saturdays. Curious. Now we realized why you can't download the menu online. If you clearly communicate the small card everything is really ok. But not like this. Sorry. At the next table someone asked for schnitzel on the next visit. Answer: you can get them on every corner. Very professional answer. My comment was: sausage salad and tarte flambée too. I had to point out our disappointment here. Then others will at least know about the different menus. 🥂

Today we hiked the Maria Zill Panorama Trail and passed this really nice restaurant. Super nice, cozy atmosphere with a great view. We were able to sit outside and watch the great swivel grill. The food straight from the grill was so delicious, both the meat and the grilled vegetables and absolutely on point. Really something special 👍

Great service, delicious food. The name doesn't really fit. “The Meat Roaster” would be a better choice. Eat directly from the swivel grill.

There were four of us in the Waldschenke. The service was super attentive and extremely friendly. The food was freshly prepared and very tasty. My wife once went to Grill and had it explained to her what was available. The questions were answered very nicely and comprehensively. When she went out she was jokingly asked that she had taken something else. ;) We had a very enjoyable evening with everyone involved. We will definitely come back here on our next vacation. Only the TomTom navigation system has to remember that you are not allowed to drive there from the Graach sheep farm. But that meant we had a short digestive walk back to the car.
