This year, we were once again delighted by the excellent food and friendly staff. To illustrate: last year we had spritzers here six times in one week; this year, unfortunately, we were only able to enjoy them three times. As always, we thoroughly enjoyed them.

Rarely eaten so well, really top

We ate here twice during our vacation, and for good reason! The menu is fairly simple, but the food was fantastic. Gluten-free options were also excellent. The Cordon Bleu (not gluten-free) was delicious and well-filled. The schnitzel was excellent, and the potato casserole was superb, you could make your own, and it was gluten-free! Delicious. And of course, Bernkastel is a fantastic location! We thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks, Alt Bernkastel!

Incredibly delicious food, the schnitzels taste truly delicious. Two sizes available, with something for everyone. Excellent service and definitely reasonable prices. Regional menu and changing seasonal specials.

We ate here on a Wednesday evening. The hostess was grumpy, but the rest of the staff was friendly. The food was delicious and there was a choice of a large or small schnitzel. Dogs are welcome on the patio.

The schnitzels are delicious, especially with the mushroom cream sauce. It's very busy.

Today was our second attempt to get a table outside, and this time we were lucky. Unfortunately, you can't reserve tables outside, so it's difficult to get one. But I think it might be worth waiting a few minutes or trying again another day. The food is definitely worth it. Very tasty, well-seasoned, and not overpriced for the quality.

A definite recommendation! The salad with chanterelle mushrooms and the schnitzel with brandy sauce were both incredibly delicious! They always start with bread and a spread; ours was a herb aioli, also delicious!

Around 5 p.m., you can barely get a seat. Reservations are recommended for later hours. You'll be rewarded with excellent cuisine. We had a salad plate with fresh fried chanterelles, simply delicious and very filling. While we waited, bread with herb cream was served, which went perfectly with the Riesling.

Phenomenal. I've rarely eaten such delicious pepper schnitzel. The spritzer was also incredibly delicious. I'd gladly return.

A beautifully located restaurant in the old town with excellent service. Expert advice such as gluten intolerance or allergies is readily understood and taken into account. The price/performance ratio is absolutely reasonable and fair. Definitely worth a visit if you want to enjoy delicious German cuisine with regional delicacies in Bernkastel-Kues.

Great schnitzels, nice old building. Very friendly staff. Because the restaurant is further down the road, you will have a nice walk from the market and are able to see all the highlight on your way (if you parked at P3, the big one next to the river)

The meal was a poem! We had a dish from the chanterelle mushroom menu, along with a salad and a delicious white wine...it was a feast for the palate, everything freshly prepared with blossoms and sunflower seeds on the salad 😋😋

From the food to the service, everything was top-notch. The schnitzel is among the most delicious. The salad is also excellent. I've already tried several dishes. We regularly drive an hour and a half just for the restaurant. A full 5 stars! The city offers the necessary ambiance anyway! The service was also very polite and attentive.

My husband and I visited the restaurant today and were very satisfied. The service was extremely friendly and the food was fresh and delicious. We had schnitzel, potato soup, and salad. The salad, in particular, was very fresh and crisp, and not drowned in a greasy or sweet dressing. The portions are very generous.

Great restaurant, excellent value for money. We went there for dinner. It was full outside but there was still room inside (more pleasant in the 30+ degree heat). Friendly service, with really great explanations of the wines on offer. As for the food, the rump steak was still wonderfully medium even after 15 minutes and not dry. Top-notch meat, that's all I can say. The sauce is served separately in a bowl, which is great, so you can measure it out just how you like it. We also had potato gratin, which was also delicious (and there was an incredible amount). All in all, a wonderful end to the day.

We liked the restaurant. The terrace was full, and we asked if we could wait a moment. It was possible. There were other guests sitting in front of us, but after a 20-minute wait, we were able to sit down. We both had the schnitzel with mushroom sauce, and it was delicious. Friendly staff and very good service, who even regularly came out onto the terrace to check if you needed anything.

We stopped by for lunch and got a table outside straight away. The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and prompt. A bit more seasoning wouldn't have hurt the main courses, but that's a matter of taste, as we all know. We particularly liked the salad. It's very varied, and the seeds on the topping add a nice crunch. The value for money is also good. We'd be happy to go back.

We wanted to have a drink on the terrace with our dog. The waiter looked at our dog as if it were old trash from the first second. The menu was thrown on the table and a dismissive gesture was made when our dog sat on his lap for a moment. We did not feel welcome at all, so we left without having consumed anything else. Later someone else from our group came back to ask how and what the intention was. Everything was denied, according to the waiter we had never been there. Well... We will never come back. The first restaurant in Germany where we were treated so badly and disapprovingly with our dog.

We (4 people) had not made a reservation but were still allowed to sit at a reserved table for 1 1/2 hours. We all ate a main course and still had 1/2 hour for a dessert but according to the waitress there was no time for that. After us we saw one group after another without a reservation get a place?

Wir wurden freundlich bedient und die Schnitzel waren erstklassig! Auch super das man auf Pute umbestellen kann. Was auch schön war, dass man Weine kaufen kann für zuhause.

I haven't had a schnitzel as delicious as this in Bernkastel yet. Anyone who dares to stroll through Bernkastel's old town toward the fire station or further toward the waterfall will pass by the inviting terrace and cozy restaurant. The young Obst family runs the restaurant like a family, with friendly service. Excellent cuisine, seasonal dishes, and fresh produce. Truly delicious!

We had dinner at the restaurant today, and we have to say, everything was top-notch. The service was very attentive and friendly, and the food was amazing. It couldn't be better!

The few steps further from the Moselle were more than worth it! The schnitzel is simply amazing, you can taste the quality. The sauce is fantastic, the schnitzel is nice and thin and golden brown. The price is great too. Friendly staff.

Had dinner there yesterday. Schnitzel with fries and asparagus with schnitzel and triplets. We drank beer, a wine recommendation for asparagus and a schnapps. It was very tasty, very friendly, normal waiting time. The wine went great with the asparagus. Price wise. A small side salad with the schnitzel would have completed the dish. We would love to come back 👍

Restaurant Alt Bernkastel – A piece of Moselle tradition with potential. An authentic, German Genusserlenbis with friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. Our chosen dishes were: “Schorles” A hearty potato cake based on Grandma’s recipe. Made from grated, raw potatoes, leeks, bacon and egg. -Fine cuts with applesauce on a salad bouquet and “Winzersteak” pork neck steak marinated with wine -with fried mushrooms, onions and potato wedges. Both dishes were very tasty and highly recommended.

Very good food.. Kartoffelauflauf was very tasty.. Could very much use a little more vegetarian options but you could tell that the kitchen knows how to pay attention to detail and flavour. Generous portions too! The one thing that I would think works a little better is putting the music up a little bit more and make the place a little cozy.

Good restaurant in Bernkastel-Kues. We went there accidentally to have lunch and it was good. I had Wiener Schnitzel and my wife had some pork meat with mushrooms and onions. My Schnitzel was perfect and delicious and other was that good. It tasted bit bitter as the onions were a bit overcooked, also mushrooms and onions at the top of meat were too greasy. I also had as warm appetiser chestnut soup and it was really delicious. Service was perfect. We also got some delicious bread with tasty curry dip. Wine was also really delicious. This is not critique, sometimes it simply happens. I would recommend this restaurant.

Located in the beautiful old town of Bernkastel, there are excellent schnitzels here. The pepper cream sauce in particular is an absolute poem. The service is very attentive.

Very good food and the portion fills everyone up. Everything is homemade, including the bread and mayo. Very attentive. Since I have celiac disease and asked about it, they explained to me what they were replacing with what. And the great thing was that I got a gluten-free homemade bread with the dip before the main course. A big big compliment to this atmosphere. Thank you for this great stay with you.

Best place to have an awesome Christmas party!

Weinig zaken waren open op maandagavond in december, dus toen we zagen dat deze open was , er binnengestapt. De zaak is klein en gezellig. We werden vriendelijk ontvangen en bedient. De prijzen zijn zeer schappelijk. Beiden namen we een Schnitzel ( een kleine en een grote), de porties waren meer dan voldoende. Eten was lekker.

We will come back if we’re in the area again! The schnitzel and cordon bleu were fantastic, the soup was great and the service was great too! Writing this two months later and it’s consistently phenomenal. Get a reservation and get in here for some fantastic German food.
