I wouldn't have thought you could find such a great restaurant in such a touristy place. Delicious and plentiful food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. All at a good price/performance ratio. Top

We (4 people) had not made a reservation but were still allowed to sit at a reserved table for 1 1/2 hours. We all ate a main course and still had 1/2 hour for a dessert but according to the waitress there was no time for that. After us we saw one group after another without a reservation get a place?

I haven't had a schnitzel as delicious as this in Bernkastel yet. Anyone who dares to stroll through Bernkastel's old town toward the fire station or further toward the waterfall will pass by the inviting terrace and cozy restaurant. The young Obst family runs the restaurant like a family, with friendly service. Excellent cuisine, seasonal dishes, and fresh produce. Truly delicious!

The schnitzel with pepper sauce, asparagus, and steak were good. Very good wine with a historic wine cellar (until 6 p.m.)

We had dinner at the restaurant today, and we have to say, everything was top-notch. The service was very attentive and friendly, and the food was amazing. It couldn't be better!

The few steps further from the Moselle were more than worth it! The schnitzel is simply amazing, you can taste the quality. The sauce is fantastic, the schnitzel is nice and thin and golden brown. The price is great too. Friendly staff.

Had dinner there yesterday. Schnitzel with fries and asparagus with schnitzel and triplets. We drank beer, a wine recommendation for asparagus and a schnapps. It was very tasty, very friendly, normal waiting time. The wine went great with the asparagus. Price wise. A small side salad with the schnitzel would have completed the dish. We would love to come back 👍

Restaurant Alt Bernkastel – A piece of Moselle tradition with potential. An authentic, German Genusserlenbis with friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. Our chosen dishes were: “Schorles” A hearty potato cake based on Grandma’s recipe. Made from grated, raw potatoes, leeks, bacon and egg. -Fine cuts with applesauce on a salad bouquet and “Winzersteak” pork neck steak marinated with wine -with fried mushrooms, onions and potato wedges. Both dishes were very tasty and highly recommended.

The schnitzel with the pepper brandy sauce was incredibly tasty.

Just got one last table on the terrace. Opted for the delicious and rich Winzersteak that melted on the tongue, great choice.

I ate a cordon bleu, it was very tasty but for the price it was just laid out without any decoration, nothing to look at.

Very good food.. Kartoffelauflauf was very tasty.. Could very much use a little more vegetarian options but you could tell that the kitchen knows how to pay attention to detail and flavour. Generous portions too! The one thing that I would think works a little better is putting the music up a little bit more and make the place a little cozy.

Good restaurant in Bernkastel-Kues. We went there accidentally to have lunch and it was good. I had Wiener Schnitzel and my wife had some pork meat with mushrooms and onions. My Schnitzel was perfect and delicious and other was that good. It tasted bit bitter as the onions were a bit overcooked, also mushrooms and onions at the top of meat were too greasy. I also had as warm appetiser chestnut soup and it was really delicious. Service was perfect. We also got some delicious bread with tasty curry dip. Wine was also really delicious. This is not critique, sometimes it simply happens. I would recommend this restaurant.

Located in the beautiful old town of Bernkastel, there are excellent schnitzels here. The pepper cream sauce in particular is an absolute poem. The service is very attentive.

Very good food and the portion fills everyone up. Everything is homemade, including the bread and mayo. Very attentive. Since I have celiac disease and asked about it, they explained to me what they were replacing with what. And the great thing was that I got a gluten-free homemade bread with the dip before the main course. A big big compliment to this atmosphere. Thank you for this great stay with you.

Best place to have an awesome Christmas party!

Weinig zaken waren open op maandagavond in december, dus toen we zagen dat deze open was , er binnengestapt. De zaak is klein en gezellig. We werden vriendelijk ontvangen en bedient. De prijzen zijn zeer schappelijk. Beiden namen we een Schnitzel ( een kleine en een grote), de porties waren meer dan voldoende. Eten was lekker.

We will come back if we’re in the area again! The schnitzel and cordon bleu were fantastic, the soup was great and the service was great too! Writing this two months later and it’s consistently phenomenal. Get a reservation and get in here for some fantastic German food.

Excellent Food and Service! We have eaten here several times and it is always great! The Schnitzel was fantastic as were the au gratin potatoes were so very good as well. The portions are large as well. Definitely a must when visiting Bernkastel!!

We gingen hierheen voor de lunch. We namen de cordon blue en dat was een goede keuze. Een heerlijk Gevulde grote schnitzel met ham en kaas. Erbij waren frieten. De cordon blue was prima gebakken en had een dunnen pannering. We namen er een salade bij. Het was een stevige lunch.

There are only a few seats inside the restaurant because it is a historic building. You should definitely make a reservation for inside, otherwise there are usually only seats available outside. Food and drinks are still OK for the price/performance ratio for a tourist town.

Romantic little restaurant with a very nice atmosphere and very nice, friendly service. Schnitzel in large or small, very good idea! Plus a good portion of fries. And everything is super delicious! And the wine pepper cream sauce is a poem. But you should make a reservation or go early enough - like we did - in the evening.

The food was so good and the service was flawless. I really enjoyed the warm atmosphere and extra plus for allowing dogs to come inside 🥰 Will definitely visit again. Thank you.

The good: The food was delicious. Price-performance was also ok. It was a shame that a young man on staff was probably having a bad day: According to the sign, you should wait at the front so you can be seated. So we waited, the young man from the staff looked at us questioningly: "Food?" was his only greeting. So we sat down somewhere outside after he gave us a hand signal to choose freely. He passed the drinks across half the table disinterestedly without looking at the person and expected, without saying anything, that the drink would be accepted with a long arm. You don't want a red carpet, you really don't, but respect and friendliness are a two-way street. First time we left a restaurant/cafe without leaving a tip. It's a shame if something like that is the lasting impression.

Das Mittagessen SCHARLES eine Art großer Kartoffelpuffer war ausgezeichnet. Ich stellte den Aschenbecher von unseren Tisch auf den freien Nachbartisch. Als sich dort Kunden setzten, stellte der Kellner diesen wieder auf unseren Tisch und sagte: Der bleibt jetzt hier stehen! Allgemein kann man sagen, dass bei der Freundlichkeit noch Luft nach oben ist.

We were there on Saturday lunchtime. Small lunch menu and small menu with chanterelle dishes. We once had the salad with fried chanterelles and once the large schnitzel with chanterelle cream sauce and bread dumplings... Both very, very delicately seasoned, enough sauce for the dumplings, enough vinigrette for the salad. Mushrooms cleaned very well... We were very satisfied. Staff very friendly and very attentive. In our opinion, very good value for money. Thank you very much.

Apparently reservations mean nothing here, there is simply no place available outside if you have made a reservation. The menu is very limited and the food is plain and average. Nothing special or unusual about it and certainly not worth more than 2/3 stars.

Simply great food in a historic location. Nice waitresses - maybe also tell the younger staff that even when you're serving, you briefly greet new customers in the waiting area and ask for a moment's patience. Then it's perfect 💕

The schnitzels were good, large portions of fries were average. The prices were reasonable. What I unfortunately noticed negatively was that our 0.7l Gerolsteiner sparkling water bottle was served cold but when it was opened there was no usual hissing noise and the seal was already broken. It was the same with the bottles at the neighboring tables. At the end of the meal, heavy limescale stains formed in the glasses, which is actually not common with mineral water.

Actually it wasn't tasty. I had Semmelknödel in Pfifferlingrahmsauce, I asked for an extra piece of bacon to be fried (because I didn't want to be completely vegetarian), for 10 small pieces of bacon (and probably proportionally less Chanterelles), they asked 3 euros extra, which was ridiculous. I got half I left it because it was just not tasty and way too greasy. The small salad beforehand was ok. My partner had a very ordinary schnitzel with fries, nothing special. A real schnitzel (made from veal) is not on the menu here. With 1 beer each, we spent 59 euros; that wasn't worth it.

Why does a schnitzel have to be chewy and deep-fried... And always with fries. The salad sailed in sour dressing. I know that you can do better!!! Practice!

Unfortunately I can't agree with the good reviews. The schnitzel was pounded so thin that it could have passed for cold cuts. There was a maximum of one small mushroom in the mushroom sauce. The rest was cream and spices. Small special requests such as ice in the drink or mayonnaise with the fries were not fulfilled. The side salad was not served at all.
