Sorry, but that was nothing! The meat was great, but the sauces and goulash were all in a packet, and the potatoes were stale.

We spontaneously stopped by today and were immediately warmly welcomed. The food was delicious and the waitresses were excellent. We didn't have a lot of fries on our plates, but it was okay. After two minutes, the waitress came and placed a bowl of fresh fries on the table. Unprompted. You don't see that often. We'll be happy to return.

We went there for dinner yesterday – unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. Upon entering, the restaurant seemed uninviting: the decor was plain and cheap, and the first impression was rather off-putting. I ordered a rump steak with fries, cooked medium. When it was served and I cut into it, it quickly became clear: the meat was completely raw – only slightly seared on the outside. I sent it back. A short while later, a new piece arrived, but this one, too, was completely raw on the inside. Unfortunately, it was inedible again. The chef's third attempt didn't produce any better results – it was still raw. I left the restaurant just as hungry as I had arrived. One positive thing to note: The waitresses were very friendly, understanding, and obviously not the first time they had encountered this problem. They removed the dish from the bill and apologized several times. Nevertheless, our conclusion remains: We won't be back.

When we go to the Moselle, we always stop at Restaurant Thiesen at least once. The food is absolutely great and the price/performance ratio is also good. The service is friendly and quick. The restaurant is located right in the heart of the beautiful old town.

A superb discovery! Café Thiesen is a typical German restaurant which offers a wide variety of local specialties, all very well cooked. You can sense the mastery in the kitchen and the taste for good things. Special mention for the desserts, which are truly excellent! The staff is warm and welcoming, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. They were a little surprised to see (French!) tourists having dessert after the meal, but we ate really well from start to finish. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through the area. Don’t leave without tasting the morello cherry waffles and/or a strudel – a real delight! Axel

Very quaint restaurant, the staff were all very friendly, the food was tasty and sufficient, the only criticism is the ice cream, it didn't taste like anything but you shouldn't expect much for the price. All in all it was a very nice and tasty evening. Gladly again 😉

Nothing special from the outside, but the food was really very good! Based on the reviews, I took the fried potatoes and wasn't disappointed! Even my husband's rump steak was cooked to perfection! Definitely recommended!

The restaurant is beautiful, cozy and has a romantic rustic touch. The food is very tasty, fresh and quickly prepared. We enjoyed our meal with a real wine. We discovered the restaurant by chance, but the next time we visit the city we know where we will satisfy our hunger. Happy to recommend! You have to try the food at the Café Thiesen restaurant.

Visited with 5 other adults whilst visiting Bernkastel- Kues. Some of the party had eaten here before which is why we chose this restaurant. They also allowed us to bring in the family dog which was nice. The waitress was lovely and very attentive. The food and drink was nice and everybody enjoyed their meal. They even had a menu in English which was useful. Only downside is that the waffles were not as big as they use to be. Some of us had had the waffles before however they were much smaller this time. Overall, a lovely meal.

When choosing the restaurant, I followed the numerous positive reviews and when choosing the dishes, also based on the good reviews, among other things. consciously decided on the classic schnitzel. Unfortunately, I couldn't really understand the large number of very good reviews. Even considering the price, I would have expected better in terms of taste and quality. What I don't understand is how an operator can expect such disgusting toilets from their guests. Mildew/mold stains are clearly visible over large areas in the women's toilet; according to a male guest, the same applies to the men's toilet. If I had seen the toilet before ordering, I would have literally lost my appetite. Unfortunately, the attentive and friendly service staff didn't make up for this last deficiency for me.

Incredibly friendly service, the lady was so warm and accommodating, that was at least five stars. We'd love to come back. The food was good, home-style and very tasty. Thank you very much.

We were looking for a nice restaurant that was open on January 2nd. Had to do some searching until we got here. There was also a place available for us in the well-filled restaurant. The service was good and we didn't have to wait long. Neither on food nor on drinks. The prices were reasonable and not too expensive. The rump steak was great...I can really recommend it. All in all a good restaurant that I would go to again.

Big recommendation! We were there spontaneously today and are thrilled. The service was very friendly, nice and warm. The furnishings are simple and simple. The food is simply fantastic! We found this restaurant on Trip Advisor and we are so glad we stopped for dinner. Service was great and the food was delicious! Generous portions too. Would recommend this restaurant. I had the veal wienerschnitzel and my husband had the pork back. Beer was good too! Thank you for a really nice meal.

I went there with my wife for the Christmas market, very good service, food was great. A complaint was handled professionally and we were not fobbed off with the stupid saying "I'll pass it on to the kitchen". Happy to come back!

We went without reservation for early dinner and immediately seated although the place was full. The lady was very nice, our toddler got a high chair and she loved the soup. The schnitzel was good but the Rumpsteak was the best! At first glance the menu seemed standard German food, but they made the food delicious. Very recommended!

Opvallend in dit restaurant is de zéér goede prijs-kwaliteit verhouding i.c.m. de zeer vriendelijke bediening. Zéker een aanrader!

Service and ambience were good. We had various schnitzels with a vegetable side dish and a tarte flambée. The vegetable side dish (imperial vegetables) had to be ordered separately and was in my opinion... too expensive for a convenience product. The tarte flambée was apparently also a ready meal, as it was not possible to do without toppings. Overall the taste was okay.

The Cafe Thiesen restaurant offers a varied menu. The food is delicious and tasty, the staff friendly and attentive. The price-performance ratio is right. An early reservation is recommended.

Every time we arrive to the Mosel area here around Bernkastel-Kues we attend this fabulous restaurant. The food is always delicious, the rumpsteak and the putenschnizel are outstanding, the wine is superb Riesling from the area. The ambience is pleasant and comfortable and above all the wonderful service of the staff. We will keep returning to this wonderful restaurant.

Wir waren sehr zufrieden, Essen sehr lecker, gute Alternative zu vielen Schnitzel mit Fritten Lokalen, kleine Karte, die überzeugt. Sehr gute Weine zum Essen, wirklich alles top, Bedienung sehr nett, absolut weiter zu empfehlen👍

Typical suite room. The restaurant is attractive and cozy. Friendly staff and you are greeted upon entry and taken to a table. Map gives enough choice. Food is served quite quickly and generous portions. Schnitzels are delicious. Recommended if you are in Bernkastel-Kues and want a bite to eat. Dogs are also welcome.

Restaurant Thiesen is still 'typically German' decorated (without frills), and offers hearty, good quality meals at fairly good prices. The service is excellent; During your meal people will even ask if everything is okay. Every time we come to Bernkastel, we visit it. This restaurant has been around for many years, and we hope it stays around for a long time.

We had a great time eating here. The food was excellent with a great price-quality . The waiter speaks English so it was easy for us to communicate and they also have an English menu which is very valuable considering that most places don’t. Overall we will definitely recommend it to eat some good local food with great service.

This restaurant was located in the middle of the beautiful Bernkastel Kues, which also offers reasonable opening times off-season 👍 The decor is simple, but the food and service are great. Very warm and down to earth. And everything at very good prices for current conditions. Simply great! Therefore value for money is definitely worth five stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

+ not crowded + Clean toilet + fast Rest was okay. The food we ordered was average, but the price was a bit too high. It was difficult to judge whether the schnitzel was frozen or not, but the fries, for example. They weren't that good and weren't fresh either, but definitely frozen. At least that's what I expect from a schnitzel with fries for 20 euros. Some of the orders were taken incorrectly, one of three drinks was wrong. It filled us up and strengthened us for the day, but our group wasn't really satisfied

We found the restaurant rather “by chance” when we were in Bernkastel; it is, to put it this way, not exactly “in the first row”. When we came to the restaurant it was very busy, almost all tables were occupied or reserved. When we asked whether there might be a table available for two people, the waitress managed to find a place for us (I thought that was very good, we've had a different experience - "when full, then full"). The food is very tasty (we had the chicken breast with vegetables and the lumberjack neck steak), the price-performance ratio is really very good!

A lovely little find after a disappointment at a previous resturant (check out my other reviews 👍😊) Anna our waitress was great. The food home cooked but delicious, authentic German cuisine, I would go here for sure if you're in town. Anna so sorry we couldn't come back to give you the promised tip. Our ship left at 7am. Tip for all bring cash as the lovely waiting staff can only accept tips this way.

Had a seat inside by the open window. It was good because of the heat as there was no air conditioning. There were several fans set up. Schnitzel had good breading. Meat was tender without being able to tell whether it was fresh or frozen. The mushroom cream sauce tasted like mixed ready-made sauce. The croquettes tasted good, but were a bit firm on the outside. The second dish was Saumagen with mashed potatoes and stirred in sauerkraut. The consistency and taste were found to be good. Fresh and homemade salad plate for starters. Good taste. Prices cheap, service friendly and quick. Furnishings outdated, but still comfortable. Taste and price-performance are okay. Can generally be recommended. The toilets in question were not used, so there is no information about their current condition.
