The reason for our visit was our annual company Christmas party!! The selection of food was really good!! The food was served to everyone at the same time and tasted very good!! You should understand that given the good quality of the food you are in the upper price range!! The chef and service really went above and beyond that day!! We were there on Christmas Day, it was very busy, but thanks to good organization it didn't feel like a crowd. There were small errors in the service, but these were sorted out with friendliness and very professionally. As full as it was, it was more of a miracle that everything worked out so well. The food was very tasty.

I'm still excited about everything now. I don't know whether I should highlight the excellent food or the great service first. The ambience is also first class. A 100 percent recommendation from me. I'll definitely be back!!!!

Were there today, December 7th, 2024. I had the venison goulash and have never eaten such delicious goulash in my life. The service is top notch. The chef is really good, the ambience, the restaurant is just beautiful. I've known the restaurant for three years now and have always been pleasantly surprised. I'm waiting for a Michelin star here.

Our Christmas dinner on a really fully booked evening. The assessment of food and ambience is due to the fact that the chef seemed to be in love with some dishes, there was too much salt and the noodles in one dish were simply much too spicy. After all, the prices are high overall, so being too spicy or too salty is a no go. This affected 3 out of 10 dishes, the others were really good. Because it was very full, it quickly became too warm in the restaurant (unfortunately the heaters stayed on) and overall very loud. This won't bother the restaurateur as the place is buzzing. The service was exceptional, and this can only be emphasized. Unobtrusive, always right on timing and a real blessing of professionalism.

I can recommend the Waldhaus am See without hesitation. Everything was perfect for me. It's just a shame that there is only a reduced selection of dishes on Sunday lunchtime. But the dishes on offer are also sufficient and would also be rated as very good by the people accompanying you.

A wonderful place to end a long day pleasantly. We were absolutely surprised from the food to the decoration and the staff. The staff's attentiveness has never waned and even when all the tables are full they are always willing to listen. They simply complement each other. We enjoy being guests here. The food is very good and second to none. The ambience is outstanding. We always enjoy coming back.

We went to the restaurant on the weekend without a reservation and got a very nice table with a view of the lake. The food was delicious, the service was top notch, a rarity these days. Went there again the next evening.

I really only have good things to say about this restaurant. I've been there several times, the selection of food is quite sophisticated and the quality is high. The waiters are super friendly and you can tell that they care about the well-being of their guests. Certainly one of the best addresses in all of Gelsenkirchen, if not number 1. And all at completely reasonable prices. You definitely won't be disappointed. (and no, I don't get any money for this review)

The service was good, the food tasted good and was nicely prepared. Unfortunately, the dessert wasn't that good and wasn't nicely presented either. I would have expected more for the price.

We were guests at a wedding and had dinner with 40 people. Other than the beautiful location, there was nothing great about this place. The service was very unfriendly and we had the feeling that everyone was very overwhelmed. The schnitzel was tasty, but you had to look for the sauce underneath. The fries were undercooked and inedible - unfortunately no one was interested because the staff didn't ask - neither in between nor when clearing away. It's actually a shame for these very high prices. I'm sorry for the bride and groom...

Hier wird Qualität groß geschrieben. Alle paar Monate sind wir im Waldhaus zu Gast und jedes Mal übertreffen sich die Köche aufs Neue! Ich bestelle mir immer den “Gentlemans Cut”, 400gr dry-aged Steak und jeder Cent ist es wert! Als Beilage sind die Kartoffel-Chips zu empfehlen; hauchzart, knusprig und voller Geschmack. Auf Empfehlung des Hauses haben wir von der Wochenkarte das Thunfisch-Steak bestellt. In der Regel esse ich kein Fisch auswärts, aber dieses Stück hat mich positiv überrascht! Service ist wie immer 1A.

Last night we ate there as a family of 4. It was incredibly delicious! The staff was very friendly and attentive, the food was fantastic and the price-performance ratio was right. I ate a very tender seared salmon fillet that I will remember for a long time. The beef that my husband was served was also perfectly prepared. For smaller children you can order a side dish as a main course, we chose the baked potato. As a farewell gift, the very friendly waiter gave our daughter a large pack of cookies, which was really sweet! Unfortunately we were just passing through, so we won't be able to come back so quickly; but would love to do this!

You should reserve a table on the weekend. The restaurant was visited on a Saturday and was completely selected.

Unfortunately a failure. Table ordered, arrived. 2 employees cannot find the reservation in their book. No matter, we were assigned a table. 6:15 p.m. The store is quite full, so wait for service. Menu: We are surprised at the very high prices, but if you get something for it, that's ok. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. We chose a standard mixed salad, nothing special, then a schnitzel with beans and Bombay chicken breast. What arrived? As written, a standard salad. After the salad, a very long wait, the boss comes and apologizes for taking so long. The store is just very full. An absurdity when it comes to prices. The schnitzel was average. With fries and beans. The chicken breast was plain fried, a rice ball without anything and brokoli. So also standard pub food. Add two more Krefeld cheeses and a coke and the €83 was ready!! Invoice. We've eaten much better for the money and in places with prices like this they take care of their guests. The boss then wanted to do something “good” for us, but then disappeared and we just paid and left. It's a shame, the shop is nice, but we won't be going there anymore. The recommendation is to take a look at the menu online beforehand, the price/performance ratio doesn't match at all, even with the steaks (you also look at the plates of the people sitting next to you😉). The food was top and the ambience by the lake was also very appealing. We were there on a Saturday evening and unfortunately it took a bit long. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether the high prices are justified.

Went to a wedding there and it was a great location! The adjacent lake in the garden is particularly beautiful. The staff was nice and quick and the interior design looks very classy.

The ambience and location are very nice. The cake was okay. The iced coffee was super watery and the scoop of vanilla ice cream was full of ice crystals. The service wasn't particularly friendly. The prices were clearly too high for what was delivered.

Very nice location in the middle of nature. Great facility, very courteous staff and incredibly delicious food. Higher price point, but certainly appropriate.

A customer is very close by, so I've been to the Waldhaus with him about ten times. It was always delicious. Sometimes I had vegetarian food, sometimes steak, sometimes fish, sometimes snails, etc. It was always good. The service was always friendly, quick and attentive. Because of the architecture and equipment, the volume is pleasant, never too loud. The large terrace with a view of the lake is also wonderful. The selection is relatively large, but they manage to prepare all the dishes fresh and quickly. The prices are okay considering the quality.

After being guests at the Waldhaus twice a month, we would like to thank the whole team for the great service and the excellent food.

We had dinner there on Mother's Day. We basically sat in the connecting room, it was hectic at times, the house was full... But it was okay. Food was good, no fully loaded plates. Plus point, dogs are allowed, water was even offered for the dog. Very nice service. We'd love to come back.

Mit einem leckeren Spargelsüppchen, Hauptgericht und einer Schoko Mousse. Für jeden Geschmack war etwas dabei. Alles hat hervorragend geschmeckt, war fein abgeschmeckt und liebevoll angerichtet. Ausgewogenes Preis Leistungsverhältnis.

With a delicious asparagus soup, main course and a chocolate mousse. There was something for every taste. Everything tasted excellent, was delicately seasoned and lovingly prepared. Very nice restaurant with good food. The Sunday lunch menu is different to the evening menu and other menus, smaller and designed differently than usual, cheaper with starter soup and dessert included. But you always find something. Portions are not big, but it is enough. Definitely worth a visit and it's a good place to go for a walk. Reservations would be an advantage.

The only negative point is the prices

We each ordered 200g beef fillet with Bernaise sauce, mushroom heads, grilled tomato and croquettes. We were already irritated when the waiter asked when ordering whether we would like to order any additional side dishes, which we said no. The food came in the normal time frame. A plate with a relatively small beef fillet, 1/2 grilled tomato, 4 small croquettes and 2 !! Mushroom heads on each plate. That looked very clear. We then ordered more croquettes. These also came - on a small plate there were 4 small croquettes for 2 people. The food was otherwise really tasty. When we paid, we were amazed that there was an additional charge of EUR 4.50 for the 4 small croquettes. When asked, the waiter said that he had been instructed to collect the money that way. With a price per dish of EUR 39.50, you can certainly expect that you will at least be full. There was no accommodation from the restaurant (dessert, coffee or digestif). We felt totally ripped off and the restaurant experience left a bad taste in our mouths. We have eaten at the Waldhaus several times (even in large groups) and were satisfied. If the restaurant pursues this new strategy of high prices and small portions due to increased energy prices or the after-effects of Corona, it will certainly feel the effects soon. We are disappointed...and won't be coming back for the time being.

Really a great restaurant. The ambience is nice, it's cozy. Everything here invites you to linger. The service was 1 with *. Very friendly, accommodating, quick and polite. I haven't had such good service in a long time. The food was impeccable. We were there on a Sunday, where there is only a small menu but everything is offered as a menu, but there is something for everyone there too. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely come back. Only the price is corresponding.
