Dorfkrug in Gelsenkirchen

We used to come here so often when we were young, and we recently had a wonderful evening here with the family. Booking online was easy. The food and service were good. The Dorfkrug is still highly recommended. We like it better than the Hexe next door.

I've been a regular at the "Dorfi" for years and have never regretted it. I love the atmosphere; the pork knuckle and the pan-fried sausage are my absolute favorites, and the Christmas buffet is very well organized. Buer would be missing something without the Dorfkrug. ❤️

Every time we travel from Saarland, we have a great time. The food is really excellent and definitely recommendable. Great value for money. We'll gladly come again.

Accidentally walked in on a German holiday. We were completely full, but we managed to get one. Afterwards, we had a delicious schnitzel. The service was quick and friendly. Beautiful old building. Great atmosphere. Total price: wonderfully low.

We're giving it three stars. One for the pork knuckle, which was highly recommended, one for the server, who was truly excellent, and the third for the pan-fried dish. Otherwise, the price-performance ratio might need reconsidering. Two small white sausages with a bit of mustard and a pre-baked pretzel for €10 is quite steep. Not to mention the chicken nuggets, which were burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. However, these were replaced immediately after we complained. The wait for the food was also rather unacceptable. A shame.

I've eaten at many well-known restaurants all over Europe and tried hundreds of dishes, but the schnitzel I had at the Dorfkrug was something truly special. The texture, the taste, the preparation – everything was exactly as it should be. I also had fries with it, and they were incredible too. The design and atmosphere of the restaurant transport you to a completely different world – you feel truly enchanted. Hygiene-wise, everything was also very clean and well-maintained.

We went there for dinner with friends. We were really looking forward to a nice evening. Sorry, but the constant pounding of meat from the kitchen was very annoying. I ordered the sauerbraten and was disappointed. It wasn't my first time eating sauerbraten there, but this time there wasn't much of a sour taste. It's a shame, we used to enjoy coming here. But it will probably be the last time.

I've been to the Dorfkrug several times now and I always enjoy going back. This time we reserved a table for eight people and had a great meal. The quality of the food sometimes fluctuates a bit, but is mostly good. This time I had a Sauerbraten, which I enjoyed. The sauce had a really good consistency, but was a bit too sweet. But that's purely a matter of taste and has nothing to do with the quality of the food. The staff were consistently outstanding and friendly. I'll definitely be back...

I went to a place where it was completely packed, but I still got my food at a reasonable time, and it was so, so delicious! I highly recommend the food, the drink service, and the general atmosphere in this restaurant! It's super cozy and great! I'll be back often!

Quaint pub with half-timbered charm. Great menu, superb food, attentive and friendly service. There were three of us there, the food arrived at the same time, and we could hear the schnitzel being knocked out of the kitchen. We had reserved inside for 10 guests; due to unexpected summer weather (four days ago), they quickly and easily found us a table outside for 10 people! Excellent service, friendly, helpful, and competent, with good, reasonably priced food! We'll be back!

After my first visit, I told myself I would definitely come back. That was a year ago, and of course, it was because the food was amazing. On my second visit, it was a bit of a cold day in late August, but the food warmed me up, and the service was just as good as I remembered. Friendly, attentive, and welcoming. A third visit is guaranteed whenever I’m in the neighborhood!

We come back every now and then

Very disappointing! At the next table, a dog was being served a ready-made meal by its owner, which gave off a foul odor. The waitress reacted with incomprehension and a certain reluctance when we asked to be moved. The ordered aperitif only arrived after the starter. The steak was ordered medium and was served raw. Although I commented on this and the waitress confirmed it, there was no apology or offer. Based on this experience, I absolutely do not recommend it!

Unfortunately, it's no longer what it used to be. We were really looking forward to the schnitzel at the Dorfkrug because we had fond memories of it. Unfortunately, the schnitzels arrived lukewarm and drenched in fat. I immediately noticed a sour odor on my schnitzel. I also let my companions smell it. Everyone confirmed my impression. I sent it back. The young and very friendly server came to the table and explained that the cook had tested it and had no complaints, but that I would, of course, get a new one. That worked out. Unfortunately, a beer glass was knocked over during the service. What can happen, though. They immediately assured us that a new one would, of course, be brought. Since it didn't arrive, we pointed this out to the young colleague. Unfortunately, this was briefly questioned because the beer glass was still half full. Well, and 80 cents per person would be a bottle of Heinz mayo on the table...😔 I'm sorry. I wish I had reported something better.

Recommended. We were there on July 10th before the Iron Maiden concert. Service was excellent. And the Rhenish Sauerbraten with dumplings and red cabbage was delicious. After dinner, we had a nice chat with a couple at the bar. If we didn't have to drive so far, we would definitely be here more often.

Wie der Name schon vermuten lässt, eine urige "Dorfkneipe" mitten im Stadtkern, in dem man eine schöne Bierauswahl hat und ordentlich essen kann. Wir hatten beide Spargelgerichte. Die gebratenen Drillinge ziemlich fettig und die Sauce Hollandaise etwas fade, vor allem nicht frisch zubereitet, das Fleisch (bei mir Schweinerückenmedaillons) gut, aber trotz Wunsch beim Bestellen durchgebraten. Der Spargel nicht zu weich gekocht. Der Service war nett und präsent.

Beautifully rustic furnished, really well versed, very empathetic service, the food knuckle and veal liver were a poem. Prices absolutely fair. We booked a table straight away for our next visit.

The food was served 2 hours after arrival. Unfortunately we weren't told that it would take forever. The place was half empty. Unfortunately, when we asked several times when the food would finally arrive, there was never an answer, only a shrug of the shoulders. Service in our case was underground. The food was ok.

I ate the Bavarian Schnitzel with Obatzter. It was a dream. Please leave it on the card. My colleagues were also very happy with the veal liver and the knuckle. Plus delicious Köstritzer... You can only be satisfied with that.

The Dorfkrug is located in a historic half-timbered house right next to the St. Urbanus Church. A quaint place with a wonderful selection of classic German dishes. Schnitzel in all variations, knuckle, steaks, as well as salads, pancakes and much more. It is surprising, one would expect the jug to be in Münsterland rather than in the heart of the Ruhr area. Anyway, what matters is that food tastes good and the service is good. 👍 clear recommendation, we'll be back.

We were there for the first time and ordered the sauerbraten with potato dumplings and red cabbage. We were truly disappointed. The food was not seasoned at all and tasted bland. The dumplings were flavorless, and the sauce and red cabbage were equally so. For the price, I expected something different. The service staff were very friendly. We definitely won't be back.

Unfortunately we were disappointed. The food was completely unseasoned and the meat from the grill pan was fried to death. But was thankfully taken off the bill. Maybe we were just unlucky because there was a shift change in the kitchen.

A reminder email for our reserved table came a day later than we had already been there - a bit strange... The service was very attentive and the drinks came quickly. We didn't have to wait long for our food (goulash soup, schnitzel) Good home cooking, but I had imagined it to taste better. Because a win on a well-known TV show is advertised big. I think the sauce for a pepper cream schnitzel could use a little more flavor. It was still a nice evening with you

Gelsenkirchen Buer is located in the middle of the Ruhr area and yet there is a kind of Münsterland country restaurant in its center, the 'Dorfkrug'. The decor is rustic, the crowd is mixed and sometimes it's lively. The atmosphere is somewhere between a pub and a restaurant. But the good, home-style cuisine is convincing. All of this at fair prices.

I went there very often and ate the great sauerbraten. In summer to autumn, good portions, soft meat and great But little by little the portions became smaller and the price rose. Hard to fill up with such a portion. The chicken fillet etc. also shrunk. For what reason it was impossible to find out It's a shame actually We probably won't go there again in the near future

Good German cuisine, price-performance seems to be okay. Service is extremely nice and accommodating... personally I would like to be asked to reorder drinks every now and then if the glass is empty on the table... but of course this can also be clarified in other ways. Die Speisen sind gut bürgerlich , die Portionen ausreichend groß und zu einem angemessenem Preis . DieToiletten sind im Obergeschoß , somit ungeeignet für gehbehinderten .

We “spontaneously” had a Christmas market party and managed to get a place for 13 people. Unfortunately, due to the restaurant being full, the food took a while to arrive, but that's normal... Otherwise the food and drinks were delicious. What a. It was a shame that the mayonaise was served in sachets... But that's complaining at a high level. All in all it was a nice visit. I can and will recommend it.

Top. Service often overwhelmed with digital ordering. Often mistakes. The salad for €4.90 is a real joke, see photo. Beer price 0.4 Veltins 4.50€. Wine overpriced. Food was very tasty, unfortunately there was rarely any knuckle. Ambience great.

We were only there for a few drinks, but we really liked the atmosphere - very rustic, individual furnishings, you immediately feel at home. Service was also great :-) will definitely come back for dinner again (a vegetarian schnitzel option would be great!)

Wonderful gasthaus. Really has a traditional feel to it. Our table had the large salad with tuna, the schnitzel wiener art, the schnitzel cordon blue and the schweinshaxe. Everything was perfect. The schweinshaxe was absolutely something else — we’re going back just for this. Atmosphere was cozy and traditional. Service was slower than I expected and prefer especially considering how early we arrived and the fact that it wasn’t busy, but it didn’t tarnish the experience. Would absolutely 100% recommend this place. Like I said, we’re going back.

If you are looking for a restaurant with typical dishes. This is the place where you can find them. Plus they are very good. The atmosphere is friendly and warm. The decoration takes us back a few years with pleasure. The waiter didn't speak French, but English very well so we were able to get by.

The good impression about the delicious food was overshadowed by the fact that on a Saturday evening (!) the last round was served very stubbornly at 10.30 p.m.

Ich liebe den Dorfkrug für sein Ambiente früher auch fürs Essen 😌 mittlerweile sind die Portionen geschrumpft die Preise in die Höhe gegangen. Schnitzel mit Rahmsauce ist ein Schnitzel mit einem Klecks Sauce. 🙄 Bei der Currywurst das gleiche. Das war früher anders. Preis Leistung passt nicht mehr. Leere Tische sind das Resultat. Vielleicht sollte der Besitzer mal drüber nachdenken. Die Gäste sind nicht dumm. Bin komplett enttäuscht.

Were there for the first time, we waited a while for the food and then there were greetings from the chef in the schnitzel breading, and no compensation at this point. It's a shame that we would have definitely come back despite the hair, but you can still eat good home-style food somewhere else.

Bij binnenkomst was de serveerster zeer druk met enige andere klanten, vooral over hun tatoeages. Ik ben maar ergens vlakbij gaan zitten en afgewacht tot ze tijd had. Nadat ik het menu had gekregen ben ik na bestudering voor de schnitzel "Dorfkrug" (paniertes Schweineschnitzel mit gebratenem Speck und Spiegelei an Bratkartoffeln mit Speckwürfeln, Zwiebel) gegaan. Het geheel was wat droog, de spekjes ver te zoeken. Verder maken ze reclame dat men 7 bieren op de tap hebben, helaas is geen daarvan van een lokale brouwerij.

It is a quaint restaurant with outdoor seating. The service is courteous, friendly and very polite. Unfortunately there were a few difficulties with the reservation. When we arrived, 8 places had to be created for us. By reservation I mean something different. Despite everything, the food was delicious. I had imagined something different when I said “giant currywurst” because the currywurst was quite normal in size. The sauce was very tasty and the salad was beautifully presented, very fresh and tasty. Everyone else had different types of schnitzel and they were also delicious.

The baked potato tasted musty and was returned. The second one was just as musty. You just couldn't consume it. The service was also poor. Never again!
