Lunch is recommended, portions are decent and good. Location in the forest is very idyllic. We'll be back

I can only recommend Waldgeist to the Iron Hand! The atmosphere is really cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed lunch. The food is of excellent quality – freshly prepared and very tasty. Particularly noteworthy is the friendly service, which always ensures a pleasant visit. I always enjoy coming here!

A very bad, unfriendly and disinterested service! It takes a long time before you can even order something to drink. When you finally get something to eat, it takes even longer. You won't be asked if you want something more to drink or dessert, etc. It takes forever for the bill to arrive! And it is very overpriced. Not recommended! Hands off!!

Unfortunately it doesn't do what it promises at all... Very thick sauce for the schnitzel. More of a gravy cream. Burger was almost inedible. Too bad

A few days ago we had the opportunity to dine at the Waldgeist restaurant. The open ambience is positive; the rooms are bright and rustically furnished. The toilets are clean and the food is reasonably priced. It's also good that there is hot food all the time, so you can get something warm to eat even in the early afternoon. Unfortunately, the service was not very attentive; after asking and serving the drinks, we had to call a waitress ourselves to place our order. It then took at least another 45 minutes for the food to arrive, even though the restaurant was only moderately busy at that time. The food itself was average at best, all dishes consisted of differently prepared meat with sauce and chips, vegetables or salad were not available or were at best in homeopathic doses. I don't think we will come here again. Addendum: After almost a year, the owner tried to have Google delete my negative reviews as "slander". Since I strongly suspect that he has also done this in other reviews and only very few reviewers will have objected to it, the overall rating of the restaurant should be viewed with great caution.

Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was a total failure. We expected a similarly good quality as in the Waldgeist in Hochheim, but we were disappointed. The quality of the schnitzel and the price/performance ratio were poor. Carelessly prepared and not tasty. The grape juice spritzer had no taste. Despite the low occupancy, the service was disinterested. Unfortunately not recommended.

It is an old train station that has been converted into a restaurant

The nickname XXL Restaurant is no coincidence. This is more about the portion size than the taste. Nevertheless, every now and then we end up here after a nice walk in the directly adjacent forest. The terrace with a small playground is a nice place, especially in summer. But it's also nice to sit inside during the rest of the season. Due to the wooden beams in the roof and a huge artificial tree inside, it feels more comfortable than it sometimes is due to the large number of guests. The food always comes quite quickly, so that sometimes you get the feeling of being mass processed. The staff is always friendly and helpful, even when the restaurant is bursting at the seams. Reservations are advisable, especially on weekends. There are also larger rooms that can be used for groups. As I said, the portions are large, but if you want you can always choose larger. I can recommend the schnitzel and the salad, but I would personally advise against the meatloaf, it swims in a tough mass (cream sauce) and somehow can never meet the expectations that you normally have with a (homemade meatloaf). They also have many children's meals at a fair price. Everyone can find something to fill them up here.

We drove 100km for XXL dishes as advertised on the site, and when asked: "It's no longer available". After 30 minutes a waitress came and asked again for XXL dishes, the gentleman said he was just asking, then didn't come anymore. Another 20 minutes later we called a waitress ourselves and finally ordered. Salad ok but the rest (fries, burgers, schnitzel) like something from a canteen wasn't particularly tasty and expensive, unfortunately, the walk to the restaurant was very muddy and very slippery

Wir hatten mehr erwartet und wurden leider sehr enttäuscht. Das Personal war sehr unaufmerksam. Wir mussten zweimal darum bitten unsere Bestellung aufgeben zu können, während das Personal lieber Smalltalk mit Gästen und anderem Servicepersonal hielt. Beim Essen waren die Saucen gerade so lauwarm und die Sahnesauce beim Schnitzel war so dickflüssig, dass sie nicht von selbst aus der Schüssel lief. Geschmacklich gibt es für die Sauce null Punkte. Wir werden sicherlich nicht wiederkommen und können das Restaurant auch nicht weiterempfehlen.

We had dinner there with our family last week. The food was good, the atmosphere was nice and rustic and well suited for hikers or larger events. The price for a total of 6 people was just under €110 for drinks and food, which was reasonable. However, a friendly smile or an expression of motivation at work couldn't hurt the men in service. Unfortunately, that spoils the impression.

This evening we went for dinner with friends for the first time. We received a very friendly welcome and immediately felt at home. The service staff were very friendly, they fulfilled our wishes and, despite the full house, still had time to give us recommendations for consumption. And these days, many catering establishments have a shortage of service staff, so you should be happy that the service is still working so well here in the Waldgeist and leave it alone if you have to wait a moment. The food came quickly and was really delicious, fresh and hot. We can't understand why people complain about prices here, because ultimately the quality and portion size are the same!!!! We even had our gourmet block with us and were able to redeem it without any problems. The portions were so generous that we were given aluminum foil and able to pack our own food. Which I think is a good thing, because leftover food has no place in the commercial kitchen and so I think it's a good solution that the guest can pack their own leftover food!!!!! 👍🏻☺️ All in all, it was a great evening in a nice atmosphere with attentive staff and very, very tasty food. We'll be back - that's for sure You more than deserve the stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you ☺️

Really a damn tasty schnitzel. Went there for lunch for €13.50 and the restaurant was full (which speaks for itself). Always happy to go there.

We were there on the evening of December 25th with 20 people, the food was very tasty, all the dishes came at the same time, the staff was super friendly despite the rush, it couldn't be better!

ONCE AND NEVER AGAIN Went there for the first time with family last night: Ambience: Fast food character with a laminated, large double-sided menu, the tables without tablecloths and the cutlery carelessly draped on the table with a paper napkin. And that at Christmas! Service: Both the main course and the dessert could only be ordered because we personally followed the staff, and no one came even after 30 minutes. The same applies to the payment process; the request for a receipt was not fulfilled because it was assumed that we didn't want one. I know you can create a reprint! Food: My cheese spaetzle was obviously unseasoned and the cheese couldn't be tasted. The fried onions were out of the bag, cold and dry. Only hunger made me eat half of it, seasoned with salt and pepper. 3 other people had pancakes for dessert. In two versions with nougat and/or chocolate, the pancakes were completely solid. A disappointing evening, paid dearly. No way: honest, seasonal cuisine at fair prices.

Dinner was very good. Schnitzel, steak and dessert were great. Cooking of the steak as ordered. There are play opportunities for the children. The location, an old train station in the middle of the forest, is wonderful. Thank you and gladly again.

Even though it is no longer a XXXXXL restaurant, we still like to go there to eat. The portions are enough to WOW. The prices have risen a little, which probably cannot be prevented. Parking could be improved a bit with a good load of gravel. Everything on the ground floor. Also easily accessible for the older generation. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside perfectly. The service is so...so, but still very hard working. The management is always friendly. Also suitable for larger groups.

Absolute recommendation...I like the building, the surroundings, the facilities and both the kitchen and service do a great job. Unfortunately, compared to "before", the high bar stools and tables are no longer part of the equipment and the XXL schnitzel is also missing (1/1 pork, 1000g), but the quality is still really good

I won't let the "Forest Spirit" come into play! ...but...there is still an acute need for action for the goose leg in the run-up to Christmas... after eating it was clear to me why there was a steak knife with it... ...otherwise you wouldn't have gotten the meat off the bone! SORRY...had to be said.

The food tastes good. We had steak and schnitzel. But the prices are totally outrageous and, at almost €30 for a large schnitzel and a handful of fries, completely disproportionate. I would come again for the food but not for the price.

The food was really delicious and is highly recommended. We had the gourmet block with us and so the price was absolutely right. Without the Schlemmerblock I have to honestly say it would be too expensive for me personally. The service was really anything but good. At the beginning we said that we had reservations. The staff then ran away and left us standing there for quite a long time and obviously “forgot” us. When we sat at the table it took a while before we were even served. The drinks and food came pretty quickly, but afterward we weren't asked if we wanted dessert or if we wanted anything else to drink. After we asked for the bill, it took quite a long time until we finally went to the counter to pay because no one came. For me this is anything but service.

The Wiener Schnitzel on Friday was not good in taste. Carelessly served with the fries. The side salad was extremely small. At more than 20 euros you can expect more. You also have to be lucky to be served. The ambience is quite nice.

I remember the forest spirit as being somehow more involved. There wasn't a lot going on, the service unfortunately seemed a bit lackluster, the meatloaf with the croquettes was a bit bland, all in all the motivation wasn't particularly high. If you love large portions, you're in good hands here; you'll always be full.

Great food and very friendly staff. We'd love to come back.

As always, the food is simply delicious. The prices are a little higher but for me the quality is absolutely fine. Unfortunately, the service staff is a little overwhelmed and unfriendly. Unfortunately I received the wrong order twice in a row.

You used to be able to go there when the punks were still doing it. Not recommended today for the prices quoted. Food good but no pizzazz, service bad, you wait 1/2 hour until your request to pay is fulfilled and not cheap - in the truest sense of the word.

As always worth a visit. We haven't been there for a while. Food top. There are also special offers that change every day, such as all burgers for €18.50. Unfortunately you won't find any burgers on the menu???? We then had a delicious pumpkin soup. The atmosphere in the old train station was great. Unfortunately, the tracks of the Aartalbahn are completely overgrown.

Freundlicher Service und das Essen schmeckt. Die Preise sind bei manchen Gerichten z. B. bei der Vorspeisenplatte etwas übertrieben, auch wen sie sehr gut ist und viele verschiedene Snacks enthalten sind.

We have enjoyed coming here for years. We have also celebrated baptisms, school enrolments, and confirmations here. We love the forest spirit!

Nach 35 Minuten und dazu nochmals Reklamiert kamen erst die Getränke. Das Essen (Schnitzel) kam nach 90 Minuten ab Bestellung. Größe und Geschmack waren Standard, deshalb auch zu teuer.

The service staff are absolutely not attentive and friendly. Even though we paid expensive money, the wrong order was brought and we waited over 20 minutes in all the heat until we could finally pay... the food is also very mediocre, the portion is large but the taste is mediocre and way too expensive.

The service is arrogant and unfriendly. Unfortunately, instead of the normal schnitzel, I got chicken schnitzel with the comment “That tastes good too.”… overall it tasted average and it was too expensive for that. We wanted to pay and communicated this. Unfortunately no one came so we paid in front after 20 minutes. The visit remains unique in the truest sense. We won't come back!

Delicious food at fair prices! Very friendly staff, restaurant manager very empathetic. Went to the sun room with 17 people (for my mother's "farewell" after the urn burial in nearby Friedwald). This is separate but open in a niche and therefore doesn't feel too secluded.

Actually a good restaurant. On our last visit, both the schnitzel and the meatloaf had a lot of cartilage in the meat, which made eating them very unpleasant. In addition, payment by standard credit card is not possible and you cannot give tips by card? It's your own fault - then there's no tip if you don't have anything in cash with you...

We have visited the Waldgeist restaurant several times. Food was great as always (but in my opinion the prices are now way too high). All I can say about the service is that the older gentleman with gray hair is by far one of the worst service staff we have ever experienced. Very “condescending” towards the rest of the staff and also the guests who asked for a table. They were told loudly across the store that "nothing works without a reservation anymore." After eating, we sat at the table with empty plates/glasses for 40 (!) minutes without anyone asking if we wanted to have dessert or if we wanted something to drink (we definitely wanted to, but then we forgot ). Only after being informed several times were we finally “allowed” to pay (I think we had to wait 25 minutes here too). The blame was of course placed on the colleagues who didn't inform him (we saw how he got the information). We will soon visit the surrounding old-established restaurants in Taunusstein...and enjoy them. We no longer felt comfortable here.

We had to wait over an hour for our food and they didn't even apologize. The chicken schnitzel was good. The fries are just normal salted fries from the deep fryer and the cream sauce tasted like a ready-made sauce to me. Would give it a 5/10. Too expensive in my opinion. The 2 stars are because the schnitzel was good and you can share dishes

From XXXXXL to XS - a failed restructuring When you first look at the menu you will see prices that correspond to the current situation. Unfortunately, around €19 for a schnitzel with fries is now the standard. However, there was great disappointment when the food was brought to the table: the portions were very small in comparison and in keeping with the prices. The taste of the food was okay. Unfortunately the waiting time is too long. Price/performance ratio is not right here. A further visit is therefore ruled out. I can't recommend a visit either. The competition is better positioned with the same or better quality, larger portions and the same prices. Too bad!

It was probably the last time we were there, the boss behaved like an ax in the woods in front of all the guests and was rude to the guests, apparently because they were understaffed, I think only the waitresses and chef keep the place alive, that happened many times there, but I never experienced anything like that at the snack bar around the corner, it was really nice there. But everything changes these days, including the forest spirit ✌️

Since I always pay with Paypal, there were problems today. Despite explaining that I didn't have any other means of payment with me, the boss insisted on leaving a deposit because only EC was accepted. So I had to walk home and then drive back to pay. If it was just about the fees, I could have just added those on top, so what? But no, the boss wants to assert himself here and remains inflexible. It's OK. This criticism does not apply to the rest of the service staff. They were top notch without exception. And no, no one is obliged to accept other means of payment, but a little more flexibility should be possible in the catering industry. I would have liked to have paid the fees on top. So there wasn't even a tip yet.

The food is really good and the price/performance ratio is definitely right because you will definitely be full. Unfortunately, the service wasn't that good. I had to order my drink from several waiters and didn't get it until I complained. In general, hardly anyone else came to our table to check that everything was going well. I never saw the soup I ordered as a starter, but it was added to my bill... Even if the food is good, I will think three times about coming here again.

We were there on a Friday, the menu said Friday was burger day, but we didn't see any burgers on the menu. When we asked, we were told that these would be on a different map. There is no cooking here. All finished products that are more or less fried, mixed or made hot. Some drinks are diluted. Unfortunately, the service was lacking on our last visit. We stood for about 10 minutes. in the entrance until we were assigned a table. It took another 20 minutes before we could place our order. In order to pay we had to tell the counter at the front. We're not used to that here! The service walked past us several times, served the surrounding tables, our glasses were empty, apparently no one was interested

It used to be a really great restaurant. We ordered a schnitzel with fries, but at first no salad was brought, there was no sauce on the burger, and the portion of fries was outrageously small. The service was totally overwhelmed. We won't be coming back!

The food is good. Of course there is a lot going on on a holiday like May 1st, but if you don't even have a card after 15 minutes, something is wrong. I then tried to place my order with three waitresses, but was rejected each time: "The colleague does that..."? The shortage of personnel in the catering industry is particularly noticeable here. The beer garden is always worth a visit when the weather is nice.
