Gasthof Jagdschloss Platte in Taunusstein

A beautifully situated location with a lovingly decorated interior and tasteful ambiance. The outstanding food is also delicious, justifying the higher prices. However, the experience is ruined by the abysmal service. With only nine tables occupied, eight waiters and waitresses stood around chatting and actively trying to ignore the guests. When someone finally deigned to approach the table, they didn't even wait for an opportunity to order more. Nothing was offered proactively, not even coffee or espresso with dessert. The tone was incredibly rude, and I want to emphasize that we remained friendly until the very end and bravely smiled our way through the misery. The restrooms were also in a terrible state. Used changing mats and toilet paper were scattered on the floor. They're throwing away money and ripping off their guests. Hopefully, things will change.

Unfortunately, we can't comment on the food today, but we can on the service – and it definitely leaves much to be desired. Yes, it was busy. Even so, a minimum level of organization should be possible. The first waiter didn't arrive at our table for about ten minutes and said he'd bring us the menus shortly. To shorten the wait, we mentioned that we wanted to order Kaiserschmarren (shredded pancake). His response: he had to check. Another ten minutes passed – without menus. When we spoke to him again, he seemed embarrassed and explained that he had to ask another waiter who was currently working at a different table. When we asked him to please do so, he simply walked off in a different direction. Five minutes later, we approached a different server. The waiter we had asked first noticed this, reacted, and called over the head waiter. The three of them stood before us with the information that it was too crowded and the kitchen wasn't preparing Kaiserschmarren because they were busy with other dishes. Result: about 25 minutes of waiting time – no menu, no order, no food. No problem: Luckily, there are other places in Wiesbaden where you can get Kaiserschmarren. We'll just try them there.

Food was great, service terrible. This time it was a bit chaotic, but overall still worthwhile, even though the prices have continued to rise. It's something you can only afford every now and then.

Only the outdoor area with the "mulled wine hut" is being evaluated, and this area deserves full marks because it's so lovingly decorated. Someone clearly put a lot of effort into it. Unfortunately, the outdoor area closes at 5:30 pm. It would be nice if it stayed open until 6 pm. Perhaps they could start 30 minutes later instead. 😉👍

Gastronomic apocalypse! Just close the place down on days like this and go skiing in Bavaria or Husum! No wonder nobody wants to spend money in Wiesbaden and the surrounding area on such disastrous service and awful food! Disaster!

We had booked a company party there. However, this was apparently forgotten, and therefore we weren't allowed in after our one-hour hike. As consolation, they sold us three pots of mulled wine/punch.

The ambiance is lovely, and the food is perfectly adequate – nothing more. Unfortunately, the prices are exorbitant, and the service varies wildly depending on the person. We don't expect anything fancy, but at these prices, we do expect a more consistent standard.

Absolutely unfriendly. I asked four times where my ordered beer was, and then again when my food also hadn't arrived (I was the only one who didn't). He told me I could leave if I didn't like it. Finally, when the group was paying, he still wanted to charge me for everything, since it had all been ordered, even though the beer and food never arrived. Never again!!

The food was excellent, as were the wines by the glass, which is to be expected at these high prices. Unfortunately, the service was poor. We weren't asked if we enjoyed our meal. Empty glasses weren't refilled; we had to call the waitstaff. We sat for a long time with our empty plates before they were cleared, and this was between 5:00 and 6:00 PM, when the restaurant wasn't very busy. There's definitely room for improvement in the training of the waitstaff. We will certainly return because of the good food. Until then, the service has time to work on improving, and hopefully, the online menu will then match the menu on-site.

The best part first: we had a really good and plentiful meal – compliments to the kitchen! The evening also started off very well; we were warmly welcomed and attentively served by a young lady. Unfortunately, she seemed to have called it a day after serving our main courses, leaving behind unmotivated colleagues who we were grateful to clear our plates. We weren't offered dessert or asked if we wanted coffee. The bill, however, arrived very quickly after we asked for it at the counter. Our conclusion: the restaurant might be worth a visit for afternoon coffee and cake if you're busy, but it's not suitable for a leisurely dinner. We probably won't be back, which is a shame.

Unfortunately, nothing special! The price-performance ratio is completely excessive. I find €19 for a currywurst with fries (beef), €25 for Königsberger Klopse, or €35 for black pudding with mashed potatoes completely unreasonable.

Our absolute favorite address – the Platte Hunting Lodge in the Taunus Mountains A visit to the Platte Hunting Lodge is always an experience. The food is magnificent and impresses with its consistently high quality – freshly prepared, delicious, and presented with great attention to detail. Of course, it's not the cheapest restaurant, but that's not what you'd expect from this quality. The service is outstanding, especially the manager, who, with his special attention and hospitality, ensures an unforgettable experience every time. Special requests are no problem here – on the contrary, you get the feeling that everything is made possible. You receive a warm welcome, even picked up upon request, and feel like a prince or princess from the very first moment. The service staff is attentive, remembers preferences, and greets you with exactly those preferences on your next visit – that's truly unique. Even those with limited mobility will feel at home here: While the hotel isn't fully wheelchair accessible, everything is done to ensure that every guest feels completely at home – even me in my "tank." Whether inside in the stylish ambiance or in the beautiful beer garden in summer – every visit is a special evening. We simply love it and are happy to return again and again.

We've been eating here for many years, although we haven't always been satisfied with the quality of the food, but it's a great location with easy parking and easy walking. Apparently, the owner has changed, because the food was significantly better this time. Keep it up! If it continues like this, I'll upgrade to 5 stars.

Nice and open outdoor environment during summer. The food was very flavorful and presented well. The mark of 4 stars for service is only due to the time it took: we waited a long time to get service. It is probably my inexperienced views of service in Europe. I was not as impressed with detail of the service. That said, if you have the time, this is an excellent place to spend a few hours with good company.

We celebrated our wedding reception on June 7, 2025, at the Gasthof Jagdschloss Platte with approximately 70 people (including approximately 20 children). The reception was very beautiful and pleasant, and the feedback from the guests was consistently positive. We, the bride and groom, also enjoyed it. The team at the inn worked very well with the other service providers involved (program moderator & DJ, decorator, photographer, videographer, and wedding officiant). The various special requests from us/the bride and groom regarding the preparation and implementation regarding decorations, setup, and changeover during the reception (moving the ceremony outside into the garden, consolidating the tables for the later dance floor, setting up the photo booth, dismantling the outdoor and indoor decorations after the reception, etc.), support with the event, providing a dressing room for the bride, and serving food and drinks were all handled very flexibly and accurately. The ceremony featured an outdoor ceremony in the beautiful garden (the decision to hold the ceremony outdoors instead of indoors in the side wing was made very quickly and flexibly due to the weather conditions, and it worked out perfectly!). The meal was served inside the inn. After delicious flying food on the terrace, there was a served appetizer and a very varied and delicious barbecue buffet on the terrace. Dessert was the wedding cake. Later, there was a cake buffet and a midnight snack. During the planning phase, we received excellent support from the restaurant manager at numerous on-site meetings, sharing valuable insights. They were always extremely helpful and flexible – coordination/plan adjustments were always possible, even at very short notice and very responsively – including via WhatsApp communication. We have a very positive assessment of our wedding celebration at the Gasthof Jagdschloss Platte. A huge thank you to Mo, Thomas, and the entire kitchen and service team for making this possible!

Still water was just tap water... My partner ordered a coffee and I ordered still water. I was given a bottle with the restaurant's logo placed on the table, containing about 750ml of still water. We both tasted the water, and it was clearly from the tap. This water cost a whopping €5. This is a blatant rip-off!!!

The wait for drinks is endless. The staff just hangs around at other tables and chats instead of serving the guests. Unfortunately, the atmosphere isn't very satisfying, which is a real shame because it's a great location.

We weren't noticed. My partner and I walked 5km specifically to enjoy a cold drink and a snack outside in the heat this afternoon. Although the outdoor area was only about a third full, we were unfortunately ignored by the service staff. We sat down at a free table, which still contained used glasses from previous guests. Two service employees walked past us several times – some even with menus in hand – without even a glance or greeting us, even though we were clearly seeking contact. Even when they returned, idling, our table was neither cleared nor were we spoken to. Two other employees stood in the entrance area for an extended period, showing no apparent engagement with the guests present. After even guests who had arrived later were served, we left the restaurant – this too happened without any reaction from the staff. We haven't experienced such inattentive and unprofessional behavior in years. Unfortunately, this not only left our visit without a positive impression, but also lost potential sales. It's a shame – this could have easily been avoided with a little more attention.

I've been to the beer garden several times just for a beer after cycling, and it's really nice! Today I made the mistake of eating something. The burrata was okay but rather disappointing for the price, but the vegetarian tarte flambée for €19 was a disgrace. A ready-made frozen product with unseasoned peas, kohlrabi, and whole baby carrots is completely unacceptable. We didn't eat it and openly stated that it was a disgrace. We paid for it anyway... no one will be seeing us here for dinner anymore.

We stopped briefly at the beer garden in the afternoon, but we'd happily come back to try the food and the interior. Very friendly and fast service. The Aperol was unfortunately a bit too bland, and the fries were a bit too salty for the child, but still tasty. The draft beers are very varied.

Disappointing! The first drinks came after the starter. After the aperitif, no further drink requests were asked. Noodles with lamb: Deep plates, everything was swimming in too much, too thin sauce, the meat was cooked for far too long and therefore dry. Currywurst (€19!): Two small beef sausages, whole, in a spicy tomato sauce – no curry. The fries were these horrible things, with the skin on, and the black spots weren't removed in the kitchen either. Complaints went unanswered. Conclusion: Disappointing value for money!

We visited this restaurant because we had already heard a lot about it. Unfortunately we were disappointed: the food was overcooked and tasted disappointing. Drink prices were above average without being justified by any special service or quality. The restaurant tries to position itself in the higher-priced segment, but neither the service nor the cuisine does justice to this. The only positive thing to note is the beautiful terrace, which is suitable for a quick stop for a drink - unfortunately nothing more. We wouldn't come back for an all-round good restaurant experience.

Leider gibt es nur schlechte vegetarische optionen die alle sehr zu wünschen übrig lassen. Außerdem ist das Preis Leistungs Verhältnis gar nicht angemessen . Also für einen mittelmäßigen bis schlecht gewürzten vegetarischen Flammkuchen 19€ zu verlangen ist schon sehr dreist. Falls man sehr gutes Fleisch essen will ist das bestimmt eine gute Adresse aber alles in allem würde ich es nicht weiterempfehlen.

Hochpreisige Karte leider schlechte Qualität. Freundlicher und bemühter Service. Aber 39€ für ein Tiefkühl-Schnitzel mit Pommes oder 31€ für ein Skrei-Filet dass eigentlich ein großes Fischstäbchen ist und auch aus dem Tiefkühler kommt, muss man mögen. Aber für ein Ausflugslokal vermutlich Standard. Tageskarte gibt es auch nicht, offensichtlich wird hier ausschließlich angeboten, was keine Arbeit macht: Tiefkühler, Fritteuse, Mikrowelle….

Unfortunately the menu is very meat-heavy. The starters are much more creative than the main courses. The ambience is very nice, the dust of the past has been completely swept away. Overall a bit too expensive for what is on offer.

We were looking forward to our visit to the Gasthaus Jagdhaus Platte, but were unfortunately disappointed. Despite the festive and tasteful decorations and a busy quick reception, the service left much to be desired. The waiting time until someone took the drink order was unreasonably long - they only responded to our questions. Even after that, there were no glasses for the water. The pricing is not only questionable, but in some cases difficult to understand: a glass of 0.2 wine costs €7.50, while a bottle of 0.7 of the same variety is €38 more expensive than the sum of the glasses. In terms of price, the menu can also clearly be classified in the upscale category. Examples: Beef boiled beef as a starter for €17.50, fried chicken for €28, fish soup for €32, rump steak for €33 and half a farm duck for €36. At these prices we not only expect decent cuisine, but also first-class service - but here we were bitterly disappointed. Overall, the food was okay, but not flawless. For example, the starter's poached egg wasn't waxy as it should be. The fish soup could also have had a little more fish The starters were served without cutlery, so we had to point this out. During the main course, the starter plates were not cleared, and the waitress seemed overwhelmed and looked around questioningly, as if to say: “Could you put your plates aside?” During the main course, no one had the idea to ask if everything was OK or if we would like to drink something else... and that with empty glasses. The highlight of the disappointment was the way our complaint was handled. Although the “boss” tried to defuse the situation, he had nothing of substance in store other than platitudes like “It was only you that was affected this evening.” There was no real apology or professional accommodation. For a total bill of 4 people and €253.20 we expect not only good food, but also service that does justice to it. Unfortunately, the evening gave the impression that there were few trained staff and mostly friends of the house working here. We certainly don't recommend the Gasthof zur Platte today.

I like to give 5 stars. We were there with a large group and the service from our group was certainly not easy. Everyone tried very hard, even special requests such as milk for the children's bottles were fulfilled in a very pragmatic and friendly manner despite the very full house. Cakes and savory dishes were all very good and excellently arranged. We had a very pleasant afternoon, would love to come again!

Today we spontaneously went for a walk with the dog on the Platte and then we wanted to have a little something to eat at the Gasthof Jagdschloss Platte. That's why I "only" ordered the starter "Our Brettjause" for EUR 16.90. On the one hand, it was a great trip to Austria in terms of taste, and on the other hand, in terms of size, it was anything but an appetizer - a huge portion! But I fought my way through bravely - with a little help from the dog. The ambience and service were also great, highly recommended!

Food was great like every time! Unfortunately, service this time was very inattentive. The waitress walked past us very often and unfortunately the bill was not passed on to the staff. But we are used to this differently and the view is really beautiful. We'll still come back any time!

Super schöne Location doch leider zum wiederholten Male ein schwacher Service. Wenn man denn mal bestellt kommt das Essen oder die Getränke nach dem Zufallsprinzip. Von einem gemeinsamen Essen oder Kaffe UND Kuchen kann man leider nicht ausgehen. Einmal wäre das ja zu verzeihen, aber bei einer gefühlten Quote von 50% ist das nicht mehr witzig.

Immer wieder eine grosse Enttäuschung. Der Service verörgert, weil unorganisiert. Der Kuchen von der Fraktion Fertigware. Wirklich nicht empfehlenswert.

Did get the wrong drink order though, despite confirming if we got the right one (alcoholic instead of alcoholic-free), which we only realised halfway through the drink. But the atmosphere was very nice, despite the drink mishap, we had a great time.

Very nice, great food, large selection, lots of space inside and outside. Large parking lot. Food tastes very good. I just can't get used to the prices. I think that's a little exaggerated. €18.50 for a beef sausage isn't possible at all. The 300 gr. Steak for €33 was super tasty and reasonably priced.

Service was top and friendly. The ambience is very nice and especially the air is so good. Here you can relax on the terrace. The two of us had a snack plate in the evening. It was very tasty. Cheap is different, but the quality is very good. We'll definitely come back.

Nice location, service not very empathetic, prices too high, but the Wiesbadener has it... 29 euros for the fried chicken with cucumber/potato salad, 18 euros for the currywurst with fries and 16.50 euros for the Swiss sausage salad without any side dish (neither fried potatoes nor bread) - that's extremely ambitious...

20€ for a currywurst, 30€ for a portion of baked meat?? Just drank something warm. Cappuccino with a hint of foam without chocolate powder and without garnish, tiny cup. Hot chocolate had just a hint of chocolate in the set after standing for a long time. That's how it tasted too. Like warm milk. There are only waiters if you make your presence known loudly.

What was once a nice excursion destination for families, bikers and hikers was turned into a Mercedes Benz G-Class event and luxury store for RheinMain: the prices for food should reflect the incoming guest: preferably fewer guests, but the “right” ones. If you want to make big pants, there's something to do... You can still get a drink on the large outdoor terrace, but no small or medium-sized dishes for less than 20 euros. Unfortunately the French chef can't do that, just a small meal for the outside terrace...? And let's ignore the 1-2 “small dishes for under €10” on offer, such as the hand cheese that all children love. It's a shame and poor, Wiesbaden and Taunusstein were deprived of a family-friendly option in the countryside to offer overpriced food from a French chef (?) that no one would have needed in a place for hikers, bikers and families...

Staff great. Ambiance very cozy. Eating French onion soup (the worst French soup I've ever eaten) and a Jausnplatte with completely cheap stuff on it, at completely exorbitant prices!!

We reserved a table at this inn for 4 p.m. Upon arrival we were informed that no orders for hot food would be accepted until 5 p.m. Because of this, we left again despite having traveled half an hour.

Bereits beim Betreten des Restaurants wurden wir von einem einladenden Ambiente empfangen, das eine Mischung aus traditionellem Charme und moderner Eleganz ausstrahlte. Der Service war von Anfang an aufmerksam und freundlich, ohne aufdringlich zu sein, was den Abend angenehm einleitete. Als Vorspeise wählte meine Frau die Bärlauchsuppe, die mit ihrer intensiven Aromatik und cremigen Konsistenz überzeugte. Ich entschied mich für den Handkäs mit Musik, eine hessische Spezialität, die perfekt abgeschmeckt und ein Genuss für Liebhaber kräftiger Aromen war. Dazu serviert wurde ein ausgezeichneter Grauburgunder, der mit seiner fruchtigen Note und leichten Säure hervorragend zu den Vorspeisen passte. Der Höhepunkt des Abends war jedoch die Hauptspeise: Das Schnitzel vom Kalb. Zart und saftig im Biss, mit einer goldbraunen Kruste, die genau den richtigen Knuspergrad hatte, war dieses Gericht ein wahres Fest für die Sinne. Die Beilagen ergänzten das Schnitzel perfekt und rundeten das Geschmackserlebnis ab. Nicht unerwähnt bleiben soll das Ambiente des Jagdschloss Restaurants Platte, das mit seinem stilvollen Dekor und der warmen Beleuchtung eine Atmosphäre schafft, in der man gerne verweilt. Die Liebe zum Detail, sowohl in der Einrichtung als auch bei der Präsentation der Speisen, trug wesentlich zu unserem Wohlbefinden bei. Zusammenfassend war unser Besuch im Jagdschloss Restaurant Platte ein voller Erfolg. Die Kombination aus exzellentem Essen, hervorragendem Wein, erstklassigem Service und einem wunderschönen Ambiente machte diesen Abend unvergesslich. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by an inviting ambience that exuded a mixture of traditional charm and modern elegance. From the start, the service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive, which started the evening pleasantly. As a starter, my wife chose the wild garlic soup, which impressed with its intense aroma and creamy consistency. I chose the Handkäs with music, a Hessian specialty that was perfectly seasoned and a delight for lovers of strong flavors. An excellent Pinot Gris was served with it, which, with its fruity note and slight acidity, went perfectly with the starters. The highlight of the evening, however, was the main course: the veal schnitzel. We had a binding booking for 4 people on February 10, 2024. reserved. The restaurant on site was surprisingly closed due to an event - not there, there was no one there. The owner obviously doesn't have his shop under control, we don't need that - especially since we were already faced with closed doors last year. We then found a cozy, well-run and reliable restaurant with friendly service in Wiesbaden.

A great atmosphere, there is something to discover in every corner. Nice, courteous staff and absolutely delicious food make the visit a great experience.

Very good friendly service. There were 18 of us there and everyone was very happy with their food; However, for some the fish portions were a bit too small; with prices well over €30, the piece of fish could have been a bit larger. The menu's pricing is on the high side, but the quality and ambience justify it.

Very nice atmosphere, the service is okay. Personally, I didn't like the food, the ragout was very salty and tart. Next time we'll try something different. I have good hopes.
