When passing through we always jump in for a delicious meal and a fresh Pils

I was disappointed. I had the chicken breast strips with spaetzle. In my opinion, it wasn't freshly prepared. The meat was dark and falling apart. I think it was frozen. The beer was delicious.

We ate at your restaurant four times during our vacation. The food was excellent and the service was excellent and friendly. On our last day, September 2, 2025, Pauline served us courteously and friendly, always ready to help whenever we needed it. We would love to come back. Plenty of parking, even if you have to walk a bit. +We were there with almost 20 people, but the food was ready really quickly, after just 20 minutes. +Nice atmosphere. -Menu (food selection) very small. -There's no way to dry your hands in the women's restroom. Very strange.

We reserved tickets for a beer cellar tour in advance and then bought them on-site, but the tour didn't actually take place at the agreed time. After purchasing the tickets, we were sent to wait outside the beer cellar entrance, where we waited in vain for the guide. Upon asking, we were told that there was no tour at that time. We had traveled completely for nothing.

The restaurant is a revelation! The food is divine! I treated myself to the BBQ special – BBQ spare ribs cooked for 10 hours in the BBQ smoker. Hallelujah, it was delicious! I'll definitely be back! Oh, and it came with sweet potato fries and braised mushrooms with braised onions. Taste at its finest!

The staff was extremely friendly. I use a wheelchair, and I was helped immediately and very kindly. However, the food was substandard, especially the fried potatoes with bacon. I'm not particularly picky, but both had the feeling they had been thawed and heated in the microwave. A pan had definitely never seen either; it was inedible. And let's be honest, the only thing that should work in a brewery, besides beer, is good fried potatoes. No espresso excuse is going to help; this just shouldn't happen. I can't understand how something like that could come out of the kitchen. I'd even go so far as to say I shouldn't have paid, but after a long day, I wasn't in the mood for an argument. By the way, I notice that the food here often doesn't get very good reviews, and I have the feeling that while this is acknowledged, nothing is ever improved. People come anyway... What a waste of money!

Good morning, we were guests here on Sunday with about 34 merciless and funny moped riders (the speed monkeys). The only thing they could improve is the number of parking spaces (there are very few available on-site). We'd gladly come back for the VULKAN beer and the fantastic new beer shop 👍🏼

The food and beer are great, and the service is always friendly. The star deduction is because we've indicated a dog as a companion when making our reservation twice now, and we were always seated at a high table. Last time, I specifically mentioned that we didn't want a high table. Nevertheless, we were seated at one again, and the dog had to lie between two high tables with very little space. Very disappointing, as we really like the brewery. It's a shame that dogs are apparently so imperfect in breweries these days. 😔

We travel from Bremen several times a year to enjoy the fantastic beer here. The beer garden is fantastic. The food is delicious, and my allergens are always taken into consideration.

19 euros for a currywurst with fries is a lot for a brewery. It's simply become too expensive.

Disappointed and annoyed. A table for 7 people was booked at 7 p.m. Of the 7 drinks, one was wrong: the still Coke and a coffee, which arrived after two requests, took half an hour. Ordered food at 7:15 p.m., but after asking at 8 p.m., it was served at 8:15 p.m., lukewarm. The next table was occupied at 7:30 p.m., and the food was served there at 8 p.m. The prices are almost unbelievable. Giant bratwurst (2 regular bratwursts) with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes €26... 1 naked burger €18 + fries €5 + mayo €1.... Getting a drink while eating was difficult; no one seemed to care. It took more than 20 minutes to pay. The next table was occupied at 7:30 p.m. Conclusion: Impossible wait times, lukewarm, overpriced food, stale drinks. You don't need more than that.

We visited the Vulkan Brewery on August 24th. We were concerned about the recent negative reviews. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The service was first-class, and what was especially positive was that the server immediately had a coherent explanation and solution for the negative point we raised (a dish being too warm). The dishes were absolutely fine in terms of taste and size for us. The prices are on the high side, but as long as the quality and animal welfare, for example, are good, we're happy to pay for them. And let's not forget that you have to/should pay your staff adequately.

Vulkan was a great find! We stopped here for a semi-quick dinner break during our road-trip. It is close to the highway, but also a nice location, very atmospheric. We sat in the shade under the trees and tried two of their alcohol-free beers (since we both had to drive). We had the IPA and the the grapefruit Weizen. I think I preferred the IPA, but both were really good! 👍 Dinner was also very nice. We were in the mood for some classic German food so I ordered the Wildgulasch mit burgundersoße, Apfelrotkohl & kartoffelklöße, and my husband got the schweinehaxe with biersoße, sauerkraut & kartoffelklöße. Both were very nice and served very quickly. It's also great that Vulkan has an accessible entrance, an accessible toilet and two dedicated parking spaces for people with disabilities 🙏

WHERE DID THE BRAUHAUS ESSEN GO......? One small thing...THE GREAT SALAD...IS MISSING.... The food is good BUT that's why I go to Waldfrieden and not to a brewery.... I expect a "normal" side salad and not a "wild herb salad" with a beer. A small snack platter or something similar..... The service is great!!! !!!!!!I just feel very sorry for the staff that they have to deal with the displeasure of the guests when they change the menu (regardless of whether it's glass size, prices, or the menu) !!!!! Too bad....Great location, friendly service!!!!! Maybe it should be renamed "Erlebnisgastronomie"?

A nice restaurant with a pleasant beer garden. There's a small adjacent playground for the kids. The service was great! Absolutely nothing to complain about. Prompt, friendly, helpful, simply fantastic. The food was amazing. It's a bit more expensive due to the organic menu, but the taste was really great and worth the price. The samples are good, but I'm also a very big eater and don't necessarily eat a lot. But you'll definitely be full! All in all, it's worth a visit if you're in the area and want something to eat.

Since I'm from Mendig, I often go to the brewery for food and especially to drink the delicious "Helle" beer. What's unfortunately no longer appropriate are the prices, especially for the food. Sure, everything has gotten more expensive, but €23 for a moderately generous schnitzel!? I'll unfortunately forgo that for the time being and see how things develop.... Addendum August 21, 2025: After about two years, some development has indeed taken place here, but unfortunately, it's continuing in the wrong direction. The business is obviously increasingly targeting (regular) guests from the region. I can't think of any other explanation for the pricing (now for food and drinks). Furthermore, the beer garden only serves 0.3l or 1l beers, which I've never experienced before. It's really no fun anymore...

The ambiance is very nice. However, I don't understand why they charge €18 for a simple cheeseburger without any toppings. The chili fries for €7 were okay, but nothing more.

We didn't stay overnight, just for dinner and the cellar tour. And I have to say this quite clearly, it's not worth it. You can safely skip the descent into the former beer cellar. There's absolutely nothing to see, and the limited information about basalt mining isn't enough to justify climbing 160 steps down and back up again. The beer garden and restaurant are more recommended as day trips. Without a reservation, it's usually difficult to find a table. At peak times, there are several hundred people there, which is why it feels more like a cafeteria. The service is excellent, the food is tasty, and the prices are geared towards tourists. Unfortunately, I didn't find it cozy. When several tour buses arrive and there's a constant stream of people, it's just not cozy.

We received a very warm welcome and were given a lovely, shady spot in the beer garden, where our dog was also very welcome. The selection of beers and food is very diverse. We were lucky to have Davide, a very good server, and received very friendly and comprehensive advice. The food was perfect, and we had a wonderful day. Thank you so much, Davide!

Wiener schnitzel was too small and cold, without a 🍋 mini portion of fries without salt, €20. Jägerschnitzel was the same, cold, with three mushrooms that tasted like they came from a can and a handful of fries. It's a shame I couldn't recommend it, the price was too high. The trout was also cold and there were five mini potatoes and no salad. That was even more of a disappointment. Even the overly friendly service, who addresses you informally, doesn't help. The only positive thing was the tasty beer. The toilets weren't clean either; they should be cleaned more often.

A very nice brewery. We stopped by for a meal in the beer garden after a stop at the Nürburgring. The restrooms are super new and well-maintained. The food was excellent, and the staff was very attentive and friendly. The prices are reasonable, and there's plenty of parking. We'd go back anytime. Highly recommended.

Great place, definitely recommended for a refreshing beer after walking the Vier Berge Tour. We especially enjoyed the Koude Weizen. Then we ordered a pulled pork burger. Perfectly seasoned, and the fries on the side were perfectly cooked. The baked potato is also highly recommended as a side dish. The service was excellent, too. The only thing I was hoping for was a slightly wider selection of (summer) specialty beers. But otherwise, an excellent place!

As a regular for the last 10-15 years, I unfortunately have to go down this path and comment on the negative development here. Beer prices are unfortunately completely unjustified... starting with 0.3 liters for €2.10 and 0.5 liters for €3.50, which was perfectly fine over the years... The decline to only 0.4 L glasses, and then, after a short time, only 0.3 L... Sorry. Wheat beer in 0.3 L is a disgrace! Currently: 0.3 L €3.90, absolutely insane, the next size 1 L €11 That's not far from folk festivals in the south... Unfortunately, you can only complain to the staff, but they can't do anything about it and are merely the interface between the brewery and the customers... They provide excellent service... However, this is slowly becoming less than worth the price/performance ratio. Since I enjoy going to breweries, I can't recommend this one anymore, as the price/performance ratio, both for the home-brewed beer and the food, is simply bordering on outrageous and excessive... Guests who have enjoyed the brewery in the region for decades are not welcomed, and management is only focused on modernization, price increases, tourism, and guests from outside the region. What a shame!

We reserved a table for 7 people for food and drinks. Both were excellent. The waitress, Davide, is super friendly and always up for a bit of fun. ...despite the outside temperature of 34°C. The only drawback: the beer is only available in 0.3l or 1l sizes. The 0.4l or 0.5l versions are discontinued. In the shop, I discovered that the 5l party kegs are only available in light beer, not dark beer. Such a shame! The alternative of using a 30l keg would be too much effort.

We often meet up with our friends for dinner here at Vulkanbräu. The atmosphere is lovely, and the service is very friendly and fast. Michaela served us. Everything was great! We'll be back.

We stopped by the shop while passing through. Due to construction work, parking is currently difficult. We were here at lunchtime. The shop is newly built and looks great. The prices are quite steep, though. For a factory sale, the prices for small bottles are quite steep. Therefore, I only recommend it with reservations.

Price increases of almost 40% within three years and €4 for a small glass of beer in Mendig? Difficult, almost outrageous. 2022: 0.4l beer for €3.70. 0.5l for approximately €4.70. 1l for approximately €9.30. 2025, 1st half of the year: 0.4l beer for €4.80. 0.5l for €6. 1l for €12. 2025, 2nd half of the year: 0.3l beer for €3.90 (only 0.3l glasses are served, except for the Maß beer). 0.5l for €6.50. 1l for €13.

The Vulkan Brewery is always worth a visit, and we've been regulars there for years. The food is always at a reasonable, home-style level, and the prices are quite reasonable for today's restaurants. I don't even need to mention the beers on offer; it's not for nothing that the owners have won various awards. Yes, if you want to find fault, you'll do so, as evidenced by other reviews, some of which are truly laughable. For example, if someone writes: "The beer is a matter of taste, but I would have preferred a Lammersbräuer, Tegernseer Helles, or Bitburger," then you should seriously consider whether you're in the right place at a local brewery. After all, the large sign at the entrance says "Vulkan Brewery" and not "Bitburger." Ultimately, this restaurant is always recommended, and everyone is encouraged to form their own opinion.

Unfortunately, I can only give it 2 stars. One star for the ambiance inside and the very tasty beer. The other star is for the service (Davide). He did a great job. And now for the criticism: The food isn't worth the price. A cream of mushroom sauce with canned mushrooms is simply not good. Guys, even if you're probably thinking in terms of quantities, it's certainly possible to buy fresh ingredients. Others can do it too. The espresso was half a cup of weak coffee. You could definitely put more effort into that. I'd love to come back again, but I'd like to see an improvement. For today, there are no more than 2 stars.

The food was good, the service was good

I've been a regular at the brewery for over 10 years, and what's going on there these days is just disappointing. Schnitzel used to come with a decent side salad, but now there's simply nothing at all. The portions are getting smaller, the prices are getting higher, and then something like a shashlik that looks like goulash for 25 euros? Seriously? It just doesn't fit. Instead of hearty home-cooked food, there's now an Asian bowl on the menu, as if you're in a trendy, trendy restaurant rather than a brewery. Beer is only served in 3-liter glasses, so you don't notice it right away, but you still end up paying more. And the mayo—sorry, but the stuff you serve there now has nothing to do with mayo. You won't find good old country potatoes or regular fries either. At least the service staff used to do a good job, but even that doesn't help anymore. Even if the service is still friendly, the overall impression is simply not right anymore. The management seems to have completely lost touch with reality. If you look at the comments, you quickly realize that I'm not alone. Dear management, please open your eyes, read the feedback, and remember that it was precisely the long-standing regulars who made you great. Price increase, okay, but not like this. Not like this. Not with such little respect for your guests. I won't be coming back like this, and I really hate to say that.

Exceptional ambiance with excellent food and super attentive staff. We were lucky enough to be served by Marco, who always had a funny joke on his lips and took excellent care of us. Our glasses were never empty. He was practically always there when we needed something, without being intrusive in the slightest. I've rarely experienced such friendly, excellent service. Very friendly service! However, if you're advertising with the Eifel logo and promising organic quality, you should also cook accordingly. The cold dish with ground pork and lard was clearly much too small in portion size, and it certainly wasn't regional. The schnitzel was very poorly breaded, the meat was tough, and had been in the pan for too long. The service staff deserves the two stars.

I ate there today with my sweetheart and her daughter. The welcome was very relaxed and very friendly. The food was amazing. My little one had Rabatz (chicken nuggets with fries), my sweetheart had shredded chicken breast with egg noodles, and I treated myself to the spare ribs. We were thrilled with the quality and taste. The service staff was very attentive without being intrusive. That's how I like service. A1. Yes, the price is quite high, but what you get for that (organic produce) justifies it. What also delighted my palate was the house beer. 👍🏻😊 If we "find ourselves lost" in Mendig again, we'll definitely stop by again.

A very nice brewery with good food. We stopped there for a bite to eat. I liked that they also offered a seniors' menu. This meant less food was thrown away. Above all, I thought the staff was simply excellent. Very quick and very friendly. I've rarely experienced that. Thank you for the pleasant stay. Since the staff is also very helpful when it comes to charging e-bike batteries, it might be helpful to install some "charging stations" outside for the many cyclists on e-bikes. We would gladly pay for this if we didn't have to use the already very busy staff. Just a suggestion.

A very nice beer garden with a playground and an unofficial VIP lounge for the Mendig soccer field. Delicious food and home-brewed beers are served in a pleasant atmosphere. Tip: ask for the organic limited edition; they always have the latest from the brewmaster! Always happy to come back!

Came here specifically for venison goulash. Unfortunately, there was no venison flavor, not enough meat, maybe 5-6 pieces drowning in gravy and red cabbage, a real shame. The spare ribs, on the other hand, were very good. The draft beer was normal, nothing special. Very large beer garden. Shady. Very busy on weekends. Playground. Blackberry hedge for snacking. Dogs of all sizes allowed. Limited parking. Conclusion: Not very personal, more like a convenience store.
