Vetter's Alt Heidelberger Brauhaus in Heidelberg

We had a delicious lunch at this traditional brauerei. The beer was excellent and the food was tasty. They have an English menu, and most of the staff also speak English. The service was very good and the prices very reasonable!

Packed night with not an empty seat created for a loud and busy environment. Service through out was fast and efficient although entrees and mains arrived at same time. Snitzel and sausages good, soup and pork not so much. Beer fresh and cold.

Typical German restaurant that you absolutely have to go to. You have to order the knuckle that comes with potatoes (see photo). It's crazy. We ordered two plates of knuckle, one for each of us and the waiter told us that it was a lot of food hahaha (he doesn't know who he was dealing with). We finished it all and also ordered the famous apple strudel which was a spectacle (see photo). Drinking a four-pack of beers of different flavors is worth it, although there is one that was very strong. The beer we liked the most was wheat and we ordered half a liter of that too. In conclusion, we left there for 36 euros each and with the satisfaction of having eaten typical food from the region in a very good restaurant to which we would undoubtedly return.

Family story in its veins and with the graceful presence of a young heir who knew how to joke and captivate even when the stock of a good beer had just run out. He was flexible and adapted everything to suit our tastes. Lots of fun in the local culture for those who speak German and like to play.

Mock roast with cabbage sauce and bread: Roast ok but really nothing more, very little sauce which was mediocre, amount of meat manageable, satiation a lot over cabbage Sausages with cabbage and bread, sausages delicious, cabbage too Although lunchtime was over and it was noticeably quieter, the 40-minute wait was too much for me here and for the rather simple food. The bread was three limp, thin, run-of-the-mill slices for two(!) meals and unfortunately only arrived when I was at least halfway through eating, even though it said it would come straight away...what a shame. Side dishes could not be changed, only ordered additionally, what a shame. In my opinion the quality is manageable. Many good reviews come from foreign (many Asian) tourists. That's perfectly fine, but assessing good home-style German food is often difficult due to the lack of comparison.

Our first restaurant after arriving in Germany, and it didn’t disappoint. Despite expecting a crowd, we were seated right away, sharing a table with a kind elderly couple. The beer was incredibly refreshing—exactly what you’d hope for from authentic German draft beer. We tried the Schnitzel, which was perfectly crispy and paired wonderfully with roasted potatoes and gravy, as well as the German sausages, which were delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the experience even better. If you’re in Heidelberg, this place is definitely worth a visit!

A few days ago we made a reservation by phone for this New Year's Eve. The reservation has been confirmed to us! However, when we were there, it couldn't be found. We were immediately accused of the fact that people come here every day and think they have a reservation but they don't - and so did we. This assumption is incredibly bold. Service training would be good for the employee! Thank you for the unnecessary stress on a New Year's Eve! A reservation in the evening in the old town was a condition of the choice to celebrate New Year's Eve generally in Heidelberg.

Amazing traditional restaurant, with one of the best beer I have drink.we totally enjoy the tasteful meal and we look forward to visit again!

Not really good home-style food, service was great

If I were asked to recommend just one place in Heidelberg, I think I would recommend this house. I was most satisfied with this place than the castle or church.

We came here at 2 p.m. without a reservation and were seated straight away. Less than 20 minutes later our food arrived! it was AMAZING! Rarely have I eaten such a good schnitzel. We were the most hungry you could imagine and walked out of here super happy! would love to come back

A wonderful street, great atmosphere. My favorite thing about this geography is the great beers. Even though there were few staff at the service, everything was on time and delicious. You may have difficulty finding a place. It is better not to leave it until the last minute.

When you don’t know what to order, I recommend Meat plate or Kase spatzle. Bavarian beer is also delicious, and it is a local restaurant in Germany.

I haven't seen such nice staff in a long time. 👍😍 We ordered a table and how could that happen (with traffic jams and a lack of parking space) we arrived 40 minutes late and our table was pretty much taken. But the lovely waitress made it free again despite us 9 people 🙈, with a good mood and beautiful smiles. 😍 The food was very delicious but unfortunately no pictures were taken... it was GONE so quickly🤣🤣🤣 Just wanted to say THANK YOU for such a staff.♥️

Always happy - and now in connection with the Christmas market, bad weather and dear friends we arrived here without a reservation. Despite the full house, very friendly service, a short wait for a free table - and then a delicious meal! And special praise for the employees in front of and behind the counter as well as for the kitchen for their patience, friendliness and service!

Don't even think about going to this establishment because you will only be able to eat potatoes with eggs and salad at a not cheap price, considering the quality of the product. They don't even think about it, they rely on sauces and the waiters don't care to understand you either. Very bad experience, the atmosphere alone was worth it. I think that if they only have a gluten-free product that is not advertised as such, in my country this is misleading advertising. Dinner to forget.

I had a vegetarian lasagna that tasted delicious. Unfortunately the portion was too small for the price. The home-brewed beer is quite tasty and recommended.

Top I recommend a brasserie with homemade beer. As a group, we had pans with ham, fleischkase, chicken, Nuremberg sausages, Schnitzel and fried pdt.

I ordered assorted wursts served in a pan and a December beer. The waitress was very friendly and the food was delicious.

The tables are large, so if you go alone, you will inevitably have to share a table. There were no small tables. I ordered Hakse and it was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside so it was easy to spread and eat. The food came out very quickly, it took less than 5 minutes. The portion size was a bit large for a woman in her 20s, so I couldn't eat the two pieces of bread that came with it. Schnitzel is also delicious. I recommend ordering schnitzel or Hakse.

I was not happy with the service of this place. It was our first time to Heidelberg and a person at our hotel had recommended for us to come to Vetters. The first waiter who served us was in a rush and pressuring us to give the order, he also was quite rude when we asked him what he would recommend off the menu & kept repeating "It's your wish". As a first time customer, that was not a good experience to witness having travelled a long way to be there! The food we had was alright, but again we did wish someone would've recommended a better dish that night!

El restaurante y el personal son muy agradables con un gran ambiente en una gran parte de la ciudad. Mi madre era alemana y sabía cocinar y hornear muchas recetas alemanas tradicionales. Tuve mucha suerte de ser criado en algunas de estas comidas increíbles y sé cómo se supone que sabe la comida alemana. Dicho todo esto, el “pan de carne” en muchos restaurantes alemanes (Vetter incluido) NO es pan de carne tradicional. Es carne prensada “misteriosa” que sale de una lata. SPAM es probablemente un paso más en sabor y calidad de esta carne misteriosa, pero tienen textura y consistencia similares. Así que mi consejo es evitar el pan de carne en Alemania a menos que te guste la carne prensada de una lata. Todo lo demás era muy bueno - mi esposa tenía un plato de pasta y le encantó. La cerveza era muy buena también. Afortunadamente puedo hacer pastel de carne tradicional como me gusta en casa.

Such an amazing German food experience. Came with the entire family, no reservation but they let us wait by the bar area and had a (shared) table within 15 minutes. Abdu was our server and went above and beyond with recommendations, service, and time!! Would absolutely request him any time we return! 10/10 for the entire experience!

Beautiful town, nice atmosphere at the Christmas market

The beer is really tasty and drinkable, we had Cordon Bleu with fried potatoes according to the menu but they were boiled cubes and had no crust and the Kässpatzen were served in a pan but the pan wasn't hot so the sparrows weren't hot either. There should also have been more cheese in it to call it Kässpatzen.

I felt like going to a pub, but it was really bad. Beer wasn't good and the knuckle even less so. Service also bad.

We wanted to eat there. We were told by phone to make a reservation that you couldn't make a reservation there. We're supposed to come over like this. Okay, said and done. We were greeted relatively unfriendly on site, we weren't allowed to wait and found out that there were reserved tables. Difficult to give a species-appropriate assessment. But friendliness would be enough.

Very disappointing! We were looking forward to a nice evening, but after the extremely long wait and the unfriendly manner of the staff, we left without eating anything at all. When we politely asked about the waiting time, we were brushed off sharply and disrespectfully. This kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable in the catering industry. We're definitely not coming back!

A really quaint and charming brewery with a great atmosphere that impresses with its authentic ambience. Particularly noteworthy is the in-house beer, which tastes excellent and is definitely worth a visit. Unfortunately we didn't have the opportunity to eat anything, but the beer and the cosiness alone make the detour worth it!

A place that recalls a typical atmosphere of medieval pubs/inns. Some tables too close together where the waiters could barely pass. Good beer. The menu includes vegetarian and omnivorous dishes. Unfortunately when our dishes arrived at the table, they were lukewarm. Friendly staff.

We had reserved a table for 4 people a short time in advance by telephone. When we arrived people didn't know anything, they said there were no reservations that day. So we had to leave again. Very poor communication and catastrophic organization.

Very good food in the center of Heildenberg. We decided to eat there a typical German schnitzl and fish with potatoes. We remembered the food well, everything was served very quickly and we could feel the freshness of the dishes and the knowledge in preparing them, fish and schnitzel 5/5, unfortunately no fries, which may be an obstacle for children, but well-seasoned roasted potatoes do the trick. I consider the value for money to be 5/5 when it comes to dishes, but unfortunately the drinks are expensive! A+ great room and atmosphere, the room is dark and you eat with a lit candle.

The shop was full but we were served promptly. The food is good as are the waitresses. When paying, we asked to be given extra coins for change because the machine in the parking lot (not in the store) only wanted coins and the waitress happily served us! It wasn't the cleanest store we've been to, but ok.

It was on the center and was a good pub. We tried 4 different beers and only herbs one was strange but the rest was great.

We immediately felt at home with its charm and welcoming atmosphere. The food was exactly what you would expect in a brewery: hearty dishes and decent portions that tasted good. The local beers, a spicy Pilsner and a Weizen, were also very good and rounded off the brewery experience perfectly. The service was also positive. We were seated quickly, our order was taken promptly and both the drinks and food arrived without a long wait. The prices are absolutely reasonable and reflect the quality of the food and drinks. Overall, great value for money. For anyone looking for a hearty, hearty refreshment in a cozy, rustic atmosphere, Vetter’s Brauhaus is definitely worth a visit.

I visited after receiving a recommendation during a guided tour of Heidelberg. It was really crowded because I visited during lunch time. After waiting a bit, we were seated together with others. The food wasn't very salty. The reason I visited this place was because I heard that it was run directly by a beer brewery. We ordered a sampler of 4 beers. Among them, the beer that was over 10 degrees, called Bitter 33, had a strange taste that didn't seem to taste like beer. But the lager beer was delicious. The beer here was worth trying once. The schnitzel, like everywhere else, was nothing special, and the sausage was a little salty compared to other dishes. The staff service here was especially good. They checked from time to time and processed additional orders quickly. So I paid a small tip at the end. If you are interested in draft beer from local breweries, it is worth experiencing at least once. I came here because you were recommended during the Heidelberg guided tour. It was very crowded to visit during lunchtime. After a little waiting, I sat down with other people. The food wasn't too salty. We had drinks and dinner here over the weekend. Had the beer sampler which allowed us to decide our drinks for the night. Personal preference would be the dunkel(highly recommended). Ordered chicken wings which was prefect and that complemented the beers pretty well. Would like to compliment Thyula who waited on our table initially. She took the time to explain and recommend dishes (much needed as our initial picks could have been a disaster 😆). And Tabeya who took over the shift and did and excellent job as well. Pork knuckles(boneless) was a bomb but served slightly cold. Tabeya promptly replaced that with a fresh warm plate and that dish is highly recommended as well. Overall a good night with great food and drinks so kudos to Tabeya and Thulya..

First time there and very excited. The service is super nice (I haven't been treated so nicely in a long time) and the food is amazing. If I could I would give even more stars. Portions are huge, had to take the rest with me because I just couldn't take anymore. The prices are completely clear. Toilets are reasonably clean. Definitely coming back.

Unfortunately, I have never eaten such bad food! The potatoes were overcooked, the Condon Bleu was unseasoned and the beer sauce only consisted of liquid fat and unfortunately had nothing to do with a sauce. The cabbage in the cabbage rolls was also very tough and therefore inedible… It's a shame given the very impressive prices. The service was very nice, but couldn't make the subterranean food any better. PS: The food in the pictures had nothing to do with what we received!

Really super delicious food! I highly recommend the meatballs with mashed potatoes. The staff was above average friendly and the restaurant was very nice! The prices are good too. What more could you want? Absolutely recommended!!

The pretzels were warm and so welcome in the cold. The beer was appreciated and the vibes were also nice. It felt very authentic and German. We reached late and they were just closing the kitchen so we generally got drinks. Some of it was served fast, some a bit slow.

Went there for dinner today and I ordered the knuckle. Food came relatively quickly and the drinks before that. However, I expected something different. The knuckle was not crispy at all and was dry. The skin was just limp and the bread that came with it was dry, as if it had been lying around sliced ​​for hours. I then noted this and tried to make up for it with free schnapps/coffee. Which was ok, but maybe they should work on the quality of the food.
