Vapiano in Hamburg

My wife had Pizza Tonno, 10 out of 10! I had Pasta arrabiata, also divine 😋 10 out of 10. Highly recommended.

Highly recommended. A lovely Italian restaurant with delicious food and very attentive service.

While I understand the rising costs of personnel and raw materials, what's being delivered here is disappointing. The price of a pinsa (around €16) is comparable to a pizza at a classic Italian restaurant. However, it's only slightly more than half the size. The Milka principle, indeed. On the plus side, it has a very thick crust. The pasta followed the same principle: high price for very little pasta. In both cases, though, that's probably for the best, as neither dish was particularly appealing. The wine, too, was apparently poured by an accountant, not a restaurateur. What bothered me most was this: After ordering via QR code, our drinks arrived very quickly. And then, a moment later, they arrived again. When we looked at them questioningly, we were told that we had indeed ordered twice. The fact that the order confirmation demonstrably stated otherwise only resulted in them "generously canceling the items due to our error." When we asked how the double order could have happened, we were simply met with a shrug. ... The rest of the visit fit seamlessly into this picture. Disinterested employees with bored expressions at least brought the food to the table.

The pinsa was actually quite good. Unfortunately, some of the dishes were dirty.

Fast service. Good space and got a table quickly. Super smart way to order and pay via mobile when sitting at the table.

Nothing special. The quality and experience of the food were only mediocre. Drinks were expensive (Coke €4.20). Worst Italian food ever. The app (Android) didn't work for ordering extras (despite staff help, only possible via the counter). However, it was okay for our meeting, as we found a quiet spot.

The new concept of scanning the QR code at the table and selecting and ordering everything via mobile phone, without having to stand in line like before, is really fun! 🤩 Aylin and Sonia were super friendly servers. The food (pasta dish) was fresh and tasty. Including a drink, it was €13.50! I was completely satisfied and will be back soon.

We went to Vapiano Gänsemarkt today. I'm shocked. During the checkout process at the self-service kiosk, they immediately asked for a tip. The food took an unusually long time to arrive, and then the pasta was undercooked and very hard. We sent it back and got a new dish. The pasta in both dishes was extremely salty, but at least it was cooked properly this time. We paid €25 per person for a pasta dish plus an iced tea. Neither the value for money nor the atmosphere is acceptable or competitive in the long run. It's a real shame; I used to enjoy coming here—good food, fast service, and reasonable prices. I wish them all the best for the future nonetheless.

The food was delicious, as always. However, the portions have been reduced, which is a slight drawback for me. Service? Well, it's declined significantly… The atmosphere, however, remains pleasant.

Good experience. Fast service. Workers are nice (not that it matters if theyre not). Portions are a bit smaller than usual, however prices are also lower by couple of euros. Taste wise - 7/10 solid Make sure to add free extras to your pasta.

The spaghetti mi scampi is definitely not recommended. It was a horribly soft, muddy pasta with a gray flour sauce that tasted of absolutely nothing. It contained two halved cherry tomatoes, five spinach leaves, and three gray scampi. The only redeeming feature was the friendly bartender behind the counter. Otherwise, the few staff members seemed stressed and overworked.

Unfortunately, Vapiano can no longer live up to its former reputation for quality, service, and atmosphere. The apparent pursuit of cost efficiency is now being achieved at the expense of employees and paying customers. What a shame!

Yesterday, my family and I went to Vapiano. The girl at the bar explained that if we ordered using the QR code at the table, everything would be brought directly to us. However, after half an hour, no one had brought us anything! 👎 We had to get the food ourselves! When I asked her about it, she had no answer. An absolute disaster!

Even though they were understaffed, they made the best of the situation. UPDATE 2025: Table reservations are now possible, the service is friendly and customer-oriented.

Absolutely NOT recommended!!! The Bolognese can, without exaggeration, simply be called a tomato sauce – with maybe 20g of meat… Even the "tomato sauce" didn't really taste good. And then there's the outrageous price of €14.50. It's sadly not what it used to be (I strongly advise against visiting).

Noodles and pasta you have to add a lot of seasoning... You order food at the bar or the terminal and then bring everything to your table yourself... So you just pay, and the kitchen staff or the server are there for service... It was OK. But I would only eat there again in an emergency...

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant anymore. The food is quite pricy and the quality definitely not worth the money. This food chain has seen better times... If you want to have lunch in the Gänsemarkt area there are definitely better options where you get more bang for the buck.

Train stations have more charm and are quieter, too. Never again.

The whole-wheat pasta with tomato sauce was unfortunately completely tasteless, and even adding extra seasoning didn't help. The dish was also very oily and greasy. My companion even left the entire meal untouched. Unfortunately, the staff didn't respond to our complaint. The pizza was equally disappointing: the crust was tasteless and hard, and the tuna tasted noticeably fishy, ​​as if it wasn't fresh. In conclusion: For almost €40 including drinks, I expected much more – I'd rather have a simple cheese roll at the bakery.

Absolutely outrageous! I went to Vapiano on Gänsemarkt today with two work colleagues, and we were all just annoyed. The food was okay, but for that price, I expect more than a few noodles that are gone in five minutes. On top of that, the whole place just seems unloved – no atmosphere, no friendliness, nothing. Vapiano used to be good, but now it's just a cafeteria-level rip-off. Never again!

A person from the shop called us and said we had ordered Nh Pizza, which wasn't true because someone had written down our number and the address wasn't correct either. The man on the phone was very disrespectful and loud and threatened us with the police, even though we hadn't done anything. My first impression is that the workers are very disrespectful and cheeky, threatening us with the police for things they can't prove. It's an absolute disgrace. I wouldn't recommend it.

Here, the principle is that you order directly via mobile phone or terminal, and then your food is delivered to your table. Aside from the fact that it doesn't work well—we didn't have any drinks until the very end—you have no contact with the chefs at all; they're just cooking in the back. Why is human interaction kept to a minimum here? We actually like Vapiano otherwise.

I was there with friends, and the food was good, as was the location and the look of the restaurant. However, ordering with cash was a bit difficult, as you have to use QR codes. Furthermore, at a certain point, the staff became slightly unfriendly because we had to ask questions about things we didn't know and couldn't have known, as there was no clear explanation of how certain things worked. The staff were also very questionable when it came to payment, as we paid with a few coins, and the employee who served us looked at the money and said, "What is this?"

Its expensive. And the place is not clean at all. Need to vipe chairs and tables to have clean place to eat. The place has gone down. 🤮

The ordering system is a disaster. Payment via Google Pay doesn't work. It suggests that the order will be brought to the table, but this isn't the case. After placing our order, we were told that a drink we had ordered was no longer available. Drinks could no longer be found in the system after ordering.

Unfortunately, the pasta is too sticky and made with too much fat for me. The pizza and pinsa dough are way too salty for me. However, there are new seating areas upstairs where you can find some peace and quiet.

Too much for a self-service meal, the pasta was rather hard than al dente, and I had to pick up everything together, including the starter and main course. It was practically cold.

I usually love eating there, but unfortunately, I was disappointed today. The pasta was very hard and simply inedible. I had ordered extra mozzarella and received exactly three. I politely asked again, but was simply answered in a very inappropriate tone.

The food is like Italian dishes as fast food with comes to the process and the quality. But the prices similar to a decent Italian restaurant. We had a pasta with tomato sauce. The pasta was too hard (more than al dente). The cheese on top was very small amount. The salad was just OK and eatable nothing special. The portions are normal nothing extraordinary. There is almost no service just passing drinks and foods. It was just OK service.

I ordered an espresso macchiato, but instead got what looked like a simple coffee with milk. The staff were unfriendly and tried to pass it off as a proper meal, and at exorbitant prices. In the end, I had to demand my money back directly from the manager, who was at least friendly, hence two stars instead of one. Unfortunately, the food was no longer what one would expect from Vapiano. Overall, very disappointing.

Here again, I'm always satisfied 😁. Good seats, beautiful view, delicious pasta 🍝. Exactly what I need.

For my taste, the carbonara had too much cream (which doesn't really belong there), and it was a bit pricey. Otherwise, a clean restaurant with a great selection.

The food was good, But the staff did everything wrong. You order tagliatelle pasta and they get some other pasta, and you ask for onions and they come with onions.

Usually they serve nice food for reasonable prices. Last time we got a bit disappointed since we ordered a Pinssa with BBQ chicken, but there were no BBQ sauce on it, they used a sweet & sour sauce instead. Pretty disappointing. The building also seems to lack AC, it was so warm inside.

After the third attempt, we even got what we ordered. It didn't taste particularly good. Two stars because the restroom was clean and the people in the kitchen, although chaotic, were understanding. Won't have to happen again.

If the food at least tasted good, you could overlook the overpriced, tiny portions. Almost €10 for a meager, floury-tasting lasagna.

The first time and the last time!

Very rude personal refuse to take order and told us to order from the machine. The pasta is very hard, and only fussili was available in vapiano?? Which is hard and i asked them to make it softer for kids. When we expressed our feedback as bad customer service, he said that its ok from 1000 customers only 1 customer said this and it is ok with him. His name is Romeo along and an Arabic guy was there just standing with no help and said ya write your feedback acts like they do not care. I am shocked from how rude they are !!! The food is also not well cooked, when i received my pasta it was with butter only no cheese and i said where is the cheese and its tasteless and the cook said ok he put the cheese and gave it back? Honestly first time i experience such horrible service if i could give zero i would have done that.

0 service , requested for pasta to be well done, Requested twice and told the cashier that is for child. Pasta is not eatable , however today is Sunday and many places are closed.. so no choice Staff on duty very rude

DON'T COME HERE! Not recommended. I had large, sharp pieces of plastic in my food, which ripped open my mouth. When I asked the staff about it, I received confused looks, a brief "Sorry," and that was it. They didn't even offer to replace the plastic-covered dish. NOT RECOMMENDED!!

Das Essen im Vapiano war früher mal sehr lecker, aber jetzt ist davon leider nichts mit zu sehen bzw. Zu schmecken. Die bei der Bestellung angegebenen Zutaten Chili und Knoblauch wurden vergessen, so dass das Essen einfach nur geschmacklos war. Auch auf Salz wurde anscheinend verzichtet. Die Nudeln waren zu al diente und deine Garnelen einfach nur tot gebraten. 2 Sterne bzw. Punkte gibt es für das hilfsbereite Personal und die Panna Cotta. Ein Besuch lohnt sich leider nicht mehr. Preis Leistung sind leider unverhältnismäßig.

I'm 60 years old and have never written a review before, but this one has to be written now! I don't recommend this restaurant. The tables and restrooms are dirty, and the food for a group order (4 people) was cold and tasteless. After complaining, the food was only lukewarm and returned to the table. The staff were unmotivated and uninterested! Overall, disappointing. I left the restaurant without a meal and left – which was a shame, considering it wasn't exactly cheap. Perhaps the concept needs to be rethought!

The food is good, the price is cheap, the square is very nice. But why isn't there table service? Really inconvenient.

Upon entering, you'll immediately notice the self-service kiosks at the entrance, which exude a bit of a fast-food feel. Alternatively, you can order at your table using a QR code. The advantage of this whole experience is that at Vapiano, you can finally eat together without having to wait in separate lines for long periods. The overall atmosphere was unfortunately a bit cold and austere, but the food was delicious, as you'd expect from Vapiano.

I'm truly shocked by what I experienced here—and this in the middle of Hamburg, a city I know to be open and diverse. Everyone should be welcome here—whether white, Black, or Asian. But what happened to me was the opposite of hospitality. When I went to pick up my food, the cook shouted "NI HAO" at me loudly—just like that, for no reason. I was stunned. First of all, I'm Indonesian—and secondly, I was born and raised in Germany. Such a comment is not only inappropriate, but clearly racist. I was truly hurt. I had to restrain myself—but as a German citizen, I know who I am and what I'm worth. As if that wasn't bad enough, there was also a hair in my food! That's absolutely disgusting. Sadly, I have to say: The food itself tasted good—I've traveled a lot and can appreciate good food. But no taste in the world justifies racism and poor hygiene. These employees urgently need training on how to treat people respectfully – and how to work cleanly!!!!!!

Everything that normally defines Vapiano is missing here. You no longer order directly from the chef, but via a QR code or tablet. You can no longer customize your pasta, for example, to make it a little spicier. The spaghetti alio oglio was tasteless; there was almost no garlic. Furthermore, the portions are very small for the price!

I've rarely eaten such sticky noodles. Otherwise, it's clean and friendly, and the seating is quite comfortable... Orders are made via QR code or terminals like at McDonald's. The food arrived surprisingly quickly.

Never again – complete chaos I was truly shocked at how poorly organized this self-service restaurant is. Everyone who ordered something (and there were probably 45 people) had to stand in a single, endless line – without any information or communication from the staff. The restaurant manager? Nowhere to be found. No one was keeping track, and many guests were visibly annoyed. I waited over an hour for my food – and then stood in the pickup line again. The food counter was completely overcrowded, and my food ended up cold. Refunds? None – since everything is paid for in advance via touchscreen. Absolutely disappointing. The old Vapiano concept was worlds better – at least back then, you knew where you were, and the food was fresh and hot. I really can't recommend this restaurant.

Since we've always had good experiences at Vapiano in Stuttgart and Dresden, we decided to visit the restaurant in Hamburg yesterday as well. Ordering was relatively easy via the terminal. I got my drink right at the counter. I eventually went inside and saw that our food was already ready. However, since two customers were being served before me, our spaghetti took a little longer. Unfortunately, this had an impact on the consistency. All of it was stuck together. Both my dish with mushrooms and my wife's with tomato sauce, Promodoro. The outdoor seating was very nice. The service at the counter was very friendly. Only the food couldn't keep up with the other experiences.

After a long absence, I returned to Vapiano at Gänsemarkt – and this time, the overall concept once again impressed me. The food was delicious, freshly prepared right at the counter, and you can see exactly how everything is made – I still think that's great. We particularly enjoyed the cocktails. Another positive: There's a surprisingly large selection of vegan and lactose-free dishes – unfortunately, that's still not a given everywhere these days. We were there around 5 p.m., perhaps because of that, it was pleasantly empty – in any case, you could eat in peace and enjoy the lovely ambiance. The staff were consistently very friendly and attentive, which I really appreciated. From the top, you also have a beautiful view of Gänsemarkt. The value for money was absolutely perfect for us, and overall, it was a relaxed, thoroughly enjoyable visit. We'd be happy to come back.

We went to Vapiano in Hamburg and were unfortunately disappointed. The food looked good, but it didn't really taste good. We had pasta and pizza. The pizza was still okay, but the pasta was extremely greasy—it was practically swimming in oil. Neither I nor my child could eat it. It used to be much better. Unfortunately, this time we weren't impressed at all. We won't be coming back.

I think it's great that they have gf pinsa. I found ordering it a bit complicated. The gf pinsa is baked on baking paper. Vapiano is trained by the German Society for the Promotion of Food (DZG). I found the pinsa quite tasty. The price is completely reasonable.

The conditions are catastrophic; I've never experienced such ignorance at Vapiano. The staff are rude and annoyed. Drinks still haven't been brought after three requests. You're forced to tip if you order at your table via the app, and you have to serve yourself after a 40-minute wait. It's better organized in other cities.

Disaster! Four of us tried to order through a group. Two meals were ready, the other two were ready when the first people had finished eating. Apparently, you can't see your order once it's been submitted. Drinks arrived late, and the wrong ones/too few of them. The pasta with pesto didn't taste good to the guest. The table wasn't cleared, so we sat there the whole time with the drinks of the people before us. Value for money? These prices are unjustified.

But the pasta dishes too... they just don't taste good. The service is hard to rate, as nothing is brought to the table except for the drinks—that's part of the concept. The ambiance is okay, but what good is it if the food doesn't taste good? A very disappointing experience!

The food is okay, but not what you'd expect for the price. The pizza had a lot of dough and few other ingredients; the pasta isn't homemade and flavored with ready-made sauces. You can taste the industrial products; fresh food tastes different. You order via a screen or QR code at your table, and you then have to pick up the food and drinks yourself. The only thing missing is that you have to clear away the dirty dishes; then Vapiano would be a fast-food restaurant like McDonald's. The staff during our visit also ranged from shouting to being very friendly. So overall, not entirely recommendable; for us, hunger and the location were the deciding factors. We wouldn't go here again; I can only give it a "conditionally recommended" rating.

Luckily, we didn't pay a tip in advance. The coffee and water were okay, but the pinsa, unfortunately, wasn't. Why should people tip at a predetermined percentage when everything is self-service?

Employees always touch the bread with their hands, even though they're also touching customers' transponders and other things... why... The dishes are otherwise delicious, as always :)

It wasn't a good experience eating here, my pasta wasn't cooked through and when I got new ones they were extremely greasy, they just threw my food back in the pan and fried it with a lot of oil, it was more like aglio e ollio than Alfredo... I'm really disappointed and wouldn't recommend it. I also don't think the way it is prepared is very good, because they heat everything up again and don't make it fresh, and you can taste it. I paid around 16 euros for a pasta dish. And I got stomach problems afterwards. I would never set foot in here again. But the people who work there are still very polite.

Not recommended! The worst Vapiano we ever ate at. I ordered a pasta Arabiata and got a pasta with tomato sauce, not spicy. My husband ordered a pizza, which he received was cold and undercooked. After we both asked for this to be put right, my husband got a burnt pizza and I got my pasta back bathed in even more tomato sauce and 3 small chunks of chili. Shame!

I spent my lunch break today at Vapiano and paid too much for an unappealing meal. Some of the pasta was dry, the food was very salty and one of the two slices of bread was dry and hard. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is not right at all. The two stars are for easy accessibility, it doesn't get any more than that.

UPDATED The food is still as good as we remembered! Now, the concept of ordering has changed . More like Macdonald. Easy! Eating pasta at vapiano has always been a good experience as you get to eat fresh food, made in front of you. Haven't experienced eating bad food before regardless which vapiano I had been too. Been to nearly all in Europe.
