Urban Gorillas - Vegan Revolution in Düsseldorf

Yesterday, I visited Urban Gorillas for the first time in ages. A passionate meat lover came with me, and even he was more than satisfied. That's saying something, because the menu is 100% vegan. The selection is huge, and thanks to the build-your-own system, there's something for everyone. Besides burgers, they also offer many other things like doner kebabs. The ambiance is charming. Unfortunately, there was a bit of a draft. The service was outstanding. Superb, friendly, funny, and communicative. You could tell she really enjoyed what she was doing. We'll be back.

Best burger I've ever had! Drink, fries, and dip; absolutely delicious! Highly recommended, the decor is great too! The kitchen seems to close shortly after 9 pm. I was probably the last person to order, and the food was perfect 🫶🏽 The staff was super friendly!! And the restrooms were in excellent condition. That's not something you can take for granted these days, especially on a Saturday night.

A very nice place to be. I was ther a few weeks ago and the staff is very kind and welcoming and the food/ Drinks wher also ther in a reasonable amount of time. All in all I was very satisfied with my time hear and again the staff is amazing espechely the one with the red and blond hair she is the best👍

Very friendly service. It's nice and quiet in the afternoon between rush hours, and we think it's the perfect time. My son loves the "meat" here. 🫣

I think the food is delicious, the prices are reasonable considering that all restaurants have become more expensive, and the ambiance is colorful, more suited to a younger clientele. The iron chairs have no cushions and are therefore cold, but that's just a small suggestion for improvement, because the most important thing is the top-notch service.

Service was amazing !!! As well as the food, which was also really good. There are sooo many options, love it. Big recommendation on the curly fries. Super recommended! Even though there weren't many workers, they worked well, quickly, with passion, and a lot of patience. We were a big group, and they still made sure veryone had what they wanted and needed without hesitation.

The shop is 100% vegan, completely free of animal products – and you can taste it in the best way: creative, aromatic, and cruelty-free. The interior is incredibly unique and beautiful! Whether you're vegan or not, this is where you'll see how incredibly diverse and sophisticated plant-based cuisine can be! The service was also top-notch: warm, fast, attentive, and with great recommendations. We've been here several times and will definitely continue to come regularly. The cocktails are delicious and a real eye-catcher, whether with or without alcohol. We definitely recommend the Classic Döner and the reward! A truly heartfelt recommendation for anyone who loves good food and appreciates conscious enjoyment. 🌱💛

Absolutely amazing! As a vegan, it's so nice to have choices. Nine different vegan burger patties, straight-cut fries, potato wedges, curly fries, sweet potato fries, loaded fries, döner, nuggets, specialty drinks, vegan desserts, cocktails and more. The murals on the walls create a wonderful atmosphere. And the staff is top-notch, friendly and helpful

Congrats, You Ruined Vegetables Went to this “vegan restaurant” and honestly, I’ve never been more offended by a bowl of vegetables in my life. They charged a small fortune for what was basically a pile of raw veggies just sadly sitting in a bowl—no marinade, no flavor, no effort. It’s like they just raided a grocery store and dumped it straight into a dish. If you’re into bland, overpriced disappointment, this is the place for you. Otherwise, save your money and just eat salad at home. it’ll taste better and cost less. If I wanted to gnaw on raw carrots and sadness, I’d just raid my fridge at 2 a.m. I paid way too much for a sad pile of raw veggies

We came to try the place inspired by the good reviews. The food was downright bad. Ready stock from the store and all just deep-fried in fat. Tasteless and greasy. There was nothing fresh in the drinks, just sugar and artificial colours. Considering that this is a vegan restaurant, there was NOTHING fresh. On top of all that, the place was outrageously expensive. I have been a vegetarian for years and this has been one of the worst restaurants I have ever eaten at.

The restaurant has a really cool interior, and the walls are lovingly decorated! Now for the most important thing. The food is unbeatably delicious!!! Such good vegan finger food, and the burgers are fantastic. I've rarely had such good vegan fast food.

Soooo, really difficult. The idea behind the restaurant wasn't so bad after all. But! We had the cheezburger and cheezburger deluxe. Disgusting, sorry, but it didn't work at all. My partner and I didn't like the taste at all and the pickled onions were yucky too. We both took two bites. As we were still hungry, we decided to have dessert anyway. We had the Seets combo. It was supposed to include: chocolate cake with sauce, 2 churros with chocolate filling and 2 BEN AND CHERRYS ice cream scoops. What we got: churros without chocolate filling and regular vanilla ice cream. We weren't told beforehand! When we wanted to pay, I honestly asked the colleague - my receipt said she served Chef 2 - whether it was vanilla ice cream. She remained silent at first until I said it was vanilla ice cream and regular churros. Then she started saying it's not available, blah blah. Anyway, the place is a disaster. Regret having paid!

Absolutely cool place with stylish decor. The selection is diverse and inspiring to try some of it yourself. We had two completely different burgers, and both were delicious. Whether you're a meat eater or not, you'll find a filling menu here at a fair price.

I'll be honest, I like eating meat, but... The Urban Gorillas absolutely convinced me that you can prepare outstanding meat- and animal-product-free dishes. There were three of us there, and everything we ordered was fantastic! The creations are unusual and, at first glance, some seem oddly put together, but they taste great together. I had the passion with a sweet potato and kidney bean patty and a white mint dip to accompany the wedges. My dear carnivores, go there and enjoy something new!

It's very small but quite specially furnished. This is meant positively 👍. We enjoyed the food. The service was very friendly and attentive.

To be honest, I have rarely eaten so well, even if I compare it to my meat days back then. I'm coming back regularly from now on just because of this shop and I live over an hour away. The employees were also super nice and competent :)

Very, very cool store, unfortunately quite expensive. In my opinion, the price for the kebabs is relatively good, but the finger food items are clearly a bit too expensive for the quantity, as are the dips. Nevertheless, everything is very tasty and the restaurant is incredibly cool and beautifully designed. Definitely an experience and very nice service.

A modern small vegan restaurant offering an extensive selection of dishes. The drinks menu also has many options. The only drawback are the chairs, which are not entirely comfortable for taller people. Overall, however, the restaurant is highly recommended. We will definitely come back.

Have ordered food. Unfortunately everything was cold upon arrival and not worth it for the price. Never seen such a small portion of fries for 8 euros, and totally limp and cold. It's a real shame...if we had known that we definitely wouldn't have paid a total of 35 euros...we definitely won't order or eat there again.

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner today. Our choice was really made easier by some great friendly advice from an employee. The weather allowed us to eat outside, although the inside area was very interesting (positive!). Highly recommended. And the lemonades are also very tasty. Will be happy to come back.

I love this store. Apart from the fact that the food on site is great and lovingly prepared, the employees are very nice people who care about a pleasant stay. The atmosphere is always relaxed and very friendly, including among the employees. I also like to drive 50 km there and 50 km back.

I love that it is an all vegan restaurant. I ordered the onion rings for an appetizer. They were good but needed more onion. I then ordered the Power burger with like real meat. I thought it was delicious and ate it in 2mins 🤣. The watermelon tea was tasty.

Really nice place. We were here on Friday evening at 5 p.m. and it was very pleasantly quiet and empty. But after 6:30 p.m. it gets noticeably more crowded. We enjoyed the food very much. The selection of burgers, wraps, bowls, finger food and sauces is really fantastic and huge! The homemade drinks are also really delicious. We would come back or order at any time. Really worth every penny!

I've wanted to eat burgers here for a long time and it was worth the long drive. Everything vegan and super delicious. Both the main course and the side were great. The waiter was very friendly and accommodating. Totally cool interior. I can only recommend :)

I ordered the Burger Kraft with wedges via Volt to the office and was very impressed. I can highly recommend it. Even if the burger was still warm, it's certainly even tastier on the spot!

The vegan kebab is awesome! Please be sure to include it in your program permanently. Best kebab option in Düsseldorf. Bread just right, crispy and soft.

Waited a very long time for food. It's a snack bar, which wasn't visible on the internet, so it's very loud. As a non-vegan, I tried a vegan burger and it wasn't tasty.

We actually waited 40 minutes for our drinks. The employee was visibly overwhelmed and didn't really have a system. The many orders from Lieferando and Wolt were always given preferential treatment. Still very expensive. Won't be our store.

Really good for a fast food burger, but a bit expensive. The service was friendly and good. Not quite as comfortable for staying for a long time. Just a fast food character. All in all, a great idea for plant-based people.

Update 02/01/25: Overall rating reduced from 3 to 2 stars. - As someone here has already commented, the whole street sometimes smells of (old) grease until late in the evening. That wasn't the case before this restaurant opened. If you live here, the smell will become a nuisance over time. -------------------- Original: I had a burger with the falafel patty and grilled vegetables, fries and the Terry Berry Ice Tea. Unfortunately the portions are not extremely large, just average. You can get full if you order a full menu, or like me, unfortunately not. - Burger: Basically tasted OK. However, with a falafel patty I expect something crispy like the falafel at the Dönermann. There was also a patty like this at Stier Royal on Zimmerstrasse back then. In comparison, the consistency of the patty here feels raw because it is very soft. While you can combine a patty and a burger here, unlike almost all well-known burger chains, there is only one bun. Very soft brioche, satiety factor for good eaters of 0. (By the way, the Moving Mountains Patty and probably also the Chicken Patty are not made in-house (this is not clearly stated on the menu, but is evident from the different description of the ingredients; MM is a brand)). - Fries: Tasted very good. - Dip: India Curry - goes well with the fries. - Iced tea: Tastes very fruity and the portion is large. However, I think €6.90 is overpriced. The menu says it has tarragon in it; Unfortunately not noticeable at all, and garnished not with tarragon, but rosemary. - Service: Nice and unobtrusive, but also a bit sloppy, not always available and needs to be trained a little better (more on that below). - Toilets: Clean, but there were a few flies buzzing around in the men's cabin. - Ambience: Too loud for me personally, but I knew that from the start. - Pricing: I am very aware of the current situation for gastronomy with regard to the Corona aftermath and inflation and I am prepared to dig deeper into my wallet. However, I paid €30 just for myself with a tip, and that's just too expensive for a burger + extra cheese (€1.50), fries + dip + drink for one person. Because you pay for burgers and fries separately here. 2 more comments: 1. There was a misunderstanding when ordering. You also pay for the dip separately. This is clear on the menu and it doesn't say that the dip is included. However, when I placed the order, I was asked “and what dip with that?” in a tone that suggested that my order wasn't finished yet and that I would definitely like another dip, as in most other burger shops can choose because it is included. But then I saw on the invoice: It wasn't. Maybe 2 shots of dip cost an additional €1.50. At that price I actually wanted to forego it. 2. I have now seen that a lunch special for the complete menu is now being offered (burger + fries + dip + drink) for €16.90. I have to say that, given my criticism, I find the price difference of €10 compared to my order to be quite bold. Only a fraction have the opportunity to eat out at lunchtime. On the other hand, I wonder why this offer couldn't be offered from the start, as has been the case with other restaurants in the immediate vicinity for ages. And whether that perhaps means that the current pricing or menu is actually being criticized by several people. Finally, it remains to say that I'm only referring to my order here, but my companion wasn't really impressed either. Conclusion: There needs to be more purely vegan restaurants these days and burgers are never wrong. But it also depends on the implementation. I thought it was tasty, but it didn't blow me away, and the bottom line is that it's just too expensive for me. I won't come back.

Highly recommended, delicious, vegan restaurant. A large selection of different options with which you can put together your burgers. The fries are crispy and the burgers are freshly prepared with great attention to detail. The service is very friendly and attentive and the shop itself also shines with lots of funny details on the subject of urban gorillas. Absolute recommendation!

The Double Vacon Cheeseburger really isn't like that

Düsseldorf Vegan Paradise This place serves the best vegan burgers I’ve ever had! The patty was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and incredibly filling. Every bite was a burst of deliciousness. The drink I ordered was equally refreshing, complementing the meal perfectly. The service was top-notch—our server was attentive, friendly, and made the experience even better. A friend introduced me to this gem, and after our first visit, we were hooked! Between the amazing taste and the inviting ambience, it’s become our regular hangout spot. If you’re into vegan food (or even if you’re not!), this is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

We were here very late in the evening and were given a warm welcome despite being so close to the end of the day. The waitress was very accommodating and friendly. I was overwhelmed by the menu and its selection. There was a lot to choose from and everything sounded delicious. The design of the card was also very clear and visually matched the fantastically decorated store. Whoever was responsible did a great job! The food also tasted great and that made the 5 star visit complete. We would love to come back 💝

The menu is very large and really suited my taste. The selection of both food and drinks was large and sometimes exotic. I can particularly recommend Melone Rose. I found the Ziti noodles as straws super innovative and the bowls for food and sauces also didn't contain plastic. The service was nice and extra requests were accepted without any problems. The burgers were beautifully prepared and everything tasted great. I would even consider the Vish nuggets to be the best fish alternative I have eaten so far. The sauces (peanut and smokey white) also really impressed me. The atmosphere is small but well furnished and also suitable for dogs (we also got water bowls for the dogs). Overall, a really great restaurant that I will definitely visit again and can absolutely recommend. You just have to take time into account when looking for a parking space, as the streets are very crowded there.

I really love the location, the concept and friendliness of the staff, it's definitely a good spot for everyone whos vegan to try. But i have to also say, even tho there are a lot of options, it just feels like everything was just deep fried? Which i also understand at a burger place but i wish there was more to it than everything being deep fried.

A really great place! We were very excited. We are only in Düsseldorf for a short vacation and are therefore very sad that this restaurant is not with us in Bremen. From the ambience, to the service, to the look and taste of the many dishes and drinks… everything was super delicious! I can recommend it to everyone!

Great place to enjoy vegan cuisine. A very large selection of different vegan burger patties. The shop is a little smaller than what you would expect from a restaurant, but it is incredibly beautifully and colorfully furnished. We immediately felt at home here. The service was great, there's nothing to complain about. We had burgers, soda and dessert. Everything was really tasty. I personally enjoy eating meat, but Urban Gorillas showed me some very good alternatives. We would love to come back 🤝

Hello everyone, as a meat eater I really have to say the store is great. The Pomvöner is highly recommended. Here I would say it is in no way comparable to the original meat, the service is great and the employees are very relaxed, which is of course very important. I also had a very, very tasty burger which is of course also highly recommended. Thank you for the delicious time!

Mega great restaurant! The service was great and you were welcomed and served in a very friendly manner. The restaurant is beautifully designed and you always notice new, sweet details. From the lamps to the menus to the stickers in the window. And the food is amazing! We had two different castles and the loaded fries pom-vöner and were absolutely thrilled! Everything was super tasty and the quantities were absolutely fair for the price. If you are in Düsseldorf, an absolute must! <3

If you want to try something new and experience crazy flavor combinations, this is the right place for you. You can bring a lot of variety to your food. There are several exceptional dips and patties.

We were at Urban Gorillas at lunchtime and were able to choose a free seat. The burgers were absolutely delicious, and best of all: everything is completely vegan! The combination of the burgers was good and we also enjoyed the loaded fries. We were particularly impressed by the ambience: the decoration was really extraordinary, with walls that were sprayed with graffiti and created a real jungle atmosphere. The service was attentive and always present, and the prices are absolutely fair. Overall, a great experience that I would happily recommend!

Unfortunately the service was subpar. The waiter was completely overwhelmed with his task. He also admitted this when we complained about the long waiting time. We were on the verge of ending the revolution early and leaving. Even though our food was ready, it remained in the serving area for quite a while and was then served lukewarm. The drinks were only brought with the meal. Overall it was very disappointing.

I love this place. Best food I ever had, but the seats... oh boy, my ass hurt. Why do you spend a couple thousand bucks for awesome murals, but do not even have the money for seat cushions? :D Nevertheless I hope to get here again soon.
