Unternberg Alm in Ruhpolding

Everything is great at the Unterbergalm. Why am I giving four stars because the concept for Sundays, where it feels like half of southeast Bavaria is on the Unterberg, left a lot to be desired, we couldn't get anywhere near a place and there weren't really any alternatives. And I want that to be known. So that you at least take enough snacks with you, because no takeaway or anything like that was possible, otherwise full marks everywhere. Clean. And when I'm there on a working day, everything is in tip top condition.

Great atmosphere, top recommendation! Unfortunately the Kaiserschmarren is nothing, not fresh, I would almost say dry. (We also ate other dishes, which were really tasty)

Addendum November 2024: Still great and a great alpine pasture all around with a fantastic view! When things are busy, it can take a while to place your order... or it can be full... Great, modern (almost stylish) mountain hut with a rustic flair - large panoramic windows offer great views of the mountains; We provide fast and friendly service even when things are busy; Highly recommended snack board (for 2 people)! Payment is possible (from €15.00) with a card - even via NFC!! Very commendable and timely! Will definitely come back here.

Beautiful new fashionable Alm, Where sales are very focused. There is no talk of comfort and time out in the mountains here. Tables outside were all reserved for the better guests who take the train up. I've never been so unkindly turned away from a table in the mountains. We had to get drinks ourselves at the bar, where we received little attention and were pushed aside twice by the staff! Until it was our turn, we were told we had to order from the waitress... But not all of the waitresses wanted to have guests and let us order something! Panorama top! Audience... no Alpine mountain lovers Wheat beer still tasted good!

Beautiful alpine pasture with a fantastic view! The location is perfect for a cozy stop after a hike or if you just take the Unternbergbahn up. The food was absolutely delicious - from the hearty delicacies (the cheese spaetzle are to die for😍) Right down to the delicious Kaiserschmarren, everything is freshly and lovingly prepared. I particularly liked the hospitality; the team was incredibly warm and attentive. The ambience is also rustic and authentic, you immediately feel at home. If you're looking for a relaxing break in the mountains, this should be it Be sure to visit Alm!

A really great location. After a hike, the stop is worth every step. Nice and friendly staff, delicious dishes - e.g. salad with fried chicken - and a fantastic view of the valley. Definitely worth repeating.

Breathtaking nature lake and mountain from a bird's eye view...

The journey is worth it. Even if it is long, steep and difficult. Great building, delicious food, acceptable prices, young, friendly operators, chic new furnishings, awesome panoramic windows. Anyone who passes by here or has consumed their own provisions: 1. own fault 2. may miss the wonderfully fresh salad, which is hard to beat in terms of taste 3. perhaps disregards the commitment of the innkeepers to get everything up here, to keep it fresh and to always be there for the guests whether the weather is nice or bad, whether the lift is in operation or not.

Nice panoramic view, but the bacon bread was so hard that the knife couldn't go through. The bacon was very tasty without bread 🍞

Very stylish Alm, super delicious food especially the “Mamores cheese”! Lots of events up here - for a mountain hut with a chairlift: great! Very nice wooden furnishings and super cozy - especially in front of the large panoramic window! Why have we never been here before??? From today on we will be visiting more often!

Incredibly beautifully made alpine hut. Insanely beautiful views with a variety of drinks and food. Super nice staff and there is so much love in the details in the restaurant... we are completely overwhelmed by the alpine hut and the beautiful view at the table.

A well-located alpine pasture with a chic ambience that invites you to stay. The view at the top of the mountain allows you to marvel and relax on both sides, and the friendly staff are always concerned about the well-being of the guests. Greetings from the two late connoisseurs ✌🏻🍻

It's a shame that you can't sit anywhere outside of the economy. The menu there is pretty alcohol-heavy. But the people at the chairlift are very nice.

Ambience quite OK and typical for a chairlift mountain station. Prices are on the upper shelf. Service super friendly. But why the hell do you have to let a rock band play live in the mountain idyll?

Delicious Kasspressknödel with salad, good Wieninger beer and a great view. People like to sit here longer, have a beer or a Kaiderschmarrn. Paragliders and hang gliders take off next to the hut. Very fascinating to watch both take off and fly.

Great location, invites you to linger. Great mountain view... Super nice service. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere.. For sun worshipers, sun loungers are available, upon request. Typical alpine delicacies to eat.

We went hiking and were looking forward to lunch. I have celiac disease and have to eat gluten-free. The Rösti was labeled gluten-free with a crossed-out ear of wheat. When ordering, I asked whether the food was gluten-free and again pointed out to the waitress that I couldn't tolerate gluten. So the food came, I asked again if it was gluten free and the answer was yes. Some time later we were on our way back to the valley. Then I slowly noticed that I was getting worse and worse. When I arrived in the valley I had diarrhea and vomited. My condition can only be attributed to the food in the hut. It would be nice if in the future we paid more attention to ensuring that food is prepared gluten-free so that someone else doesn't end up like me.

Very tasty food and great homemade iced tea. Friendly service. And the view from Unternberg is magnificent. All around it was just good.

I have been visiting the UA for several years now and have always been impressed by the quality of the food and the very friendly service. I particularly appreciated the creative and loving selection of dishes and the loving presentation of the dishes. Unfortunately, I have to say that I've noticed some changes recently that have disappointed me. The quality of the food has declined and the price-performance ratio is no longer as good as it used to be. A concrete example is the salad with watermelon and feta for €17, which was unfortunately very sparse and served without bread. I very much hope that these are only temporary difficulties and that the UA will soon return to its usual quality.

Magnificent view. We only had something to drink, so no review of the food

Yesterday, my friend and I were at the Unternberg Alm, as befits our status almost every Thursday. To our surprise, there was even live music with Radish. And because we've been up there so many times, we'll now leave a review for the UA and its fantastic team. The UA is a beautifully decorated alpine pasture where you can enjoy your food and beer with a fantastic view. We've tried the entire menu here and we really enjoyed every meal! The quality of the food is top. In the kitchen they definitely know what they are doing! We just haven't tried the goulash soup yet, but we'll definitely have that for us soon. (We just have to see how big it is ;) ) We have to particularly emphasize the fantastic service at the Unternberg Alm, whether Christa, Inge, Deni, Lea or Veni, none are nicer than the others. Flo, you're great too ;) The service is courteous, very friendly, quick. They see when the thirst for beer overcomes us again and are immediately ready with fresh supplies. We are always happy when we arrive at the UA. The feeling of marching over the last hill and then seeing the Unternberg Alm rise like the holy grail feels indescribable every time. (Especially in winter when it's dark) I would recommend reserving a table because the UA is often very well attended. See you soon, let's sing.

This charming little alpine pasture not only offers a great view, but also the opportunity to watch paragliders taking off. The drinks were served attractively and tasty.

Unfortunately the Almpizza was sold out. A robber plate (extra plate) is charged at 2 euros.

The best alpine pasture I've been to so far. It is small but nice, very modern inside and with a beautiful view. Attentive and friendly service. But the highlight was the food: not typical alpine food, which often lacks the necessary quality, but everything at its best. An easy hike or chairlift will get you there. Any time!

The Underbergbahn is a beautiful chairlift that leads to the Undernberg, from which you have a fantastic view. Unfortunately, the associated parking space is not exactly cheap at 7 EUR.

Breathtaking view meets manageable service! The view from here, especially through the panoramic window, is awesome! The Kaiserschmarren was also really tasty! Unfortunately, service was absolutely below average! We waited for over an hour for the Alm to finally open at 12:00 p.m. and what do you do here first before you look after the waiting guests? First of all, distribute ashtrays on all (even empty) tables. We then had to provide ourselves with menus. The orders were also taken completely randomly and so there were long waiting times. The view is really wonderful! However, for families with small children, I would recommend other alpine pastures where little guests are really welcome.

A really great alpine pasture! Because of the modern pictures, we were initially worried that the rustic feeling would be lost, but that's not the case at all! The food tastes fantastic, lots of vegetarian and even vegan options. The best cheese spaetzle in a long time. Great and friendly staff. Dog friendly. The view is amazing! Highly Recommended.

Everything very tasty! There were 12 of us and everyone enjoyed it very much! Be sure to reserve in advance as the Alm is well attended. Staff is very nice!

We took the train to Ruhpolding and hiked from the train station up to the Unternbergalm. The path was very steep in places, but the view from above was even more rewarding! The Alm is super modern, there are also vegan dishes and oat milk, and the service was great too! The prices are totally okay.

Looks beautifully located, long strenuous walk but worth it for the inexperienced as there is a chair lift

We arrived today, a rainy Tuesday, around 3pm. Everything seemed to have already been dismantled and cleaned. Nevertheless, we were warmly welcomed and served in a very friendly manner! The currywurst is really recommended! From the valley station a beautiful hike with just over 500m and about 4km along the forest path. There's not much to say about the ambience, the pictures speak for themselves! Thank you very much and really recommended.

Rustic Alm, great innkeepers! Great area.

The restaurant was of course very full at lunchtime, but we were served quickly and friendly. The food came when ordered without a long wait and was very tasty, surprisingly also quite cheap compared to other restaurants in the region. The view and the mountain panorama top it all off

The place is beautiful and even more beautiful are the views from the Alm. We took the cable car ( which btw is quite slow) to have some lunch there and admire the views. The weather was extraordinary and so our experience there. Food was good: the Apfelstrudel was one of the best I had so far. Kaiserschmarrrn was just Ok. Service super friendly!

Modern Kitchen meets Alm. I love the concept and always feel really comfortable at the Unternbergalm. Yesterday I reserved our table for today from the comfort of the sofa. I love that kind of thing. I decided on the guest room. Otherwise there is a terrace or even deck chairs. Sun was lovely today. Food and staff were top as always. Thank you for the great experience today.

Great location with good food. Large glass front with a view of Ruhpolding and the surrounding mountains. If the chairlift is not running, you can hike up (on foot or on skis). There is a changing room in the basement.

The hut is a dream! The huge panoramic window, the tasteful and cozy furnishings, the staff, the food...you have to go here!!!

Arrived at 2:45 p.m., the waitress brought us a meal menu, took 17 minutes to come back (3:02 p.m.) and told us: “Sorry, the kitchen closes at 3 p.m., I can't accept your order,” and offers consolation cake , SHAMEFUL!

Sehr urig,lecker und freundlich. Bei Sonne sind draußen alle Plätze belegt,aber drinnen sitzt es sich auch gut. Wir hatten ein Brotzeitbrettl und Kaiserschmarrn. Beides sehr lecker. Man kann auch Tische reservieren. Traumhafte Aussicht! Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Wir saßen bei schönstem Sonnenschein draußen auf der Terrasse. Tolle Kulisse, die sie sich bezahlen lassen. Kaiserschmarrn war nun nicht der Knaller, aber ansonsten Tee und Gerichte schön angerichtet und die Panoramabar ist der hamma. Ein Besuch wert.

Sehr freundliche Bedienung und sehr gutes Essen bei bester Sicht auf die Berge.

Selten so gut auf einer Almhütte gegessen. Hier stimmt alles von Service, vom Essen bis hin zur Aussicht. Die Alm ist gut zu Fuß, aber auch mit der Seilbahn zu erreichen.

Für die wunderschöne Umgebung und die tolle Weitsicht kann das Team der Unternberg-Alm nix. Doch die sehr gute Küche und der überaus freundliche Service ist Spitze.

Freundliche Bedienung, leckere hausgemachte Getränke.

Ein Besuch der UA lohnt sich auf jeden Fall. Egal ob zu Fuß oder mit dem Lift. Man wird von nettem und freundlichen Personal empfangen. Die Aussicht ist unschlagbar. Auf der Speisekarte findet man Speisen, die man so nicht unbedingt auf einer Alm erwartet (z.b. Tartar). Die Einrichtung einfach und chic. Die Preise sind angemessen. Das war mit Sicherheit nicht unser letzter Besuch

Mit einem wahnsinnig schönen Blick vom Berggipfel ins Tal hat uns diese Alm mehr als überwältigt. Das junge Team mit sehr leckerem Essen hat uns zusätzlich beflügelt. Vielen Lieben Dank an alle, für dieses Erlebnis.

A very nice spot for lunch. We were the on a sunny Sunday. The place was packed and there were not enough servers. The food was good but not great. We would recommend the dumpling soup and obazda.

Sehr schönes Ambiente. Speisekarte übersichtlich mit anspruchsvollen Angebot. Die Küche hat definitiv sehr gut abgeliefert. Wir hatten Schweinefilet mit Champignons und selbstgemachte Spätzle, sowie geschmorten Rehbraten mit Süßkartoffeln Püree und Knödel. Beides nur zu empfehlen. Die Preise fanden wir entsprechend. Natürlich muss man hier tiefer in die Tasche greifen als in der Pommes Bude, aber Qualität hat halt ihren Preis. Die Bedienung war zuvorkommend und freundlich. Aussicht wird wohl toll sein. Wir waren abends vor Ort und können diese nicht wirklich beurteilen. Der Weg nach oben ist steil und Kurvenreich.

Die Hütte ist charmant und modern eingerichtet. Die hausgemachten Getränke waren sehr lecker und die Bedienung freundlich und schnell. Top!
