We stumbled upon this place by chance. All in all, it's a fantastic Italian restaurant with excellent cuisine, tasteful, modern, and cozy decor, and very friendly staff. We enjoyed our meal and felt completely at home. We'll definitely stop there again on our next trip to Munich.

A cozy trattoria for really good food. Whether pasta or pizza, the food is excellent. The service is fast and friendly and helps with wine selection. We'd be happy to go back.

Rustically decorated restaurant with friendly service. A bit dark, with small tables for two. The lunch menu of fish, spinach, and salad or soup is rather simple.

I tried the spaghetti carbonara and was thrilled! The pasta was cooked just right, and the sauce was simply divine—creamy, spicy, and with a wonderful bacon flavor. You can immediately tell that the food was cooked with love. A dish that not only fills you up, but also makes you truly happy. Highly recommended; I would order it again anytime!

The atmosphere was relaxed, so we decided to stop by for a bite to eat while we were passing through Munich. Unfortunately, the meal wasn't up to restaurant standards, as even people who've never cooked before could have done better. The pasta was really not good, and the sauce, a mixture of failed béchamel sauce and barely warm crème fraîche, gave the dish a bland taste. Plus, the texture was downright unpleasant because the pasta was overcooked... The pizza was good, however, but fast food-grade. We'll probably never go back; I imagine that's the desired effect of the owners.

From the first bite to the last impression, everything is just right here – friendly service, a pleasant atmosphere, and consistently high culinary standards. For me, Trattoria San Benno is clearly one of the best Italian restaurants in Munich. If you want to enjoy authentic Italian food, this is the place to be.

First impressions were quite pleasant. There were 12 of us. There's little privacy, for example, for festive occasions. The food was very good. But when the place is full, it's very loud. Not a pleasant place for conversation. The waiters were hectic. Okay for lunch, but no thanks for dinner.

The ambiance is nice. The portions are large. The food was exceptionally bad: the beef fillet was dry and probably reheated several times, and every dish came with a potato casserole. The goat cheese salad was very large but also tasteless, and the beets were very soft, probably from a can. The service was awful. The wine was also bad and served in a glass that wasn't very well cleaned.

Everything was perfect, there were a few small burnt spots on the pizza but it's still worth the 5 stars!

We stumbled across this restaurant on a whim. We found a lovely spot with our child. The lasagna was delicious, with plenty of tomato sauce. The drinks were delicious anyway; you can't go wrong with that. The waiter served us in a rustic yet charming manner. The decor was super modern, with comfortable seating.

my favorite Italian restaurant in Munich

I was here once for dinner and had a great time with good food and nice service. That one would've been a 4 star visit. However I also went for lunch today and had a much worse experience. I ordered a more expensive dish but jo drink. Food was too salty, waiter was very hectic and did not bring the bread and olive oil (maybe cause I didn't get a drink?) and at the end I did not feel I need to give any tip so i just waited for my change. He didn't have 2.20 so he gave me 2.50 and said that 30 cents are Trinkgeld from him. This was a 2 star visit, as for the nice terrace.

The food is always delicious and the service is very friendly. When the weather's nice, you can also sit on the terrace.

We ate pizza at this restaurant yesterday. The service was very friendly and made a real effort to ensure our customers had a pleasant experience. The wood-fired pizza tasted excellent; I felt like I was in Italy. The pizza had a super tasty crust and was very well-topping. We also had sole with wild garlic risotto. This was, of course, the highlight of our dinner table. I always enjoy coming back to this pizzeria.

Was recommended to us by the hotel staff. A great, “real” Italian! Good food, especially worth mentioning, there are gluten free pizzas and occasionally pasta too. Pleasant location, spacious and cozy outdoor area when the weather is nice. Service was friendly and accommodating.

We were there with a JGA and the service was an issue right from the start: the two of us had to look at a menu, even though the restaurant was relatively empty. The drinks took almost half an hour. But these were good! The food didn't come together. 4 of us ordered pizza which came when everyone had already eaten. One was forgotten! After that we were ignored. After more than an hour of ignorance, I went and asked if they had stopped the service? Then another waiter came and apologized and offered us a shot. We were then allowed to pay for it (surprise!). After that we were ignored again. When we pointed this out again while paying, we started to argue and then we just left it alone. So anyone hoping for an evening with great service will be disappointed. Too bad

Very pleasant, quiet Italian restaurant with very good food and very friendly service. We felt extremely comfortable. Unlike in many restaurants these days, the acoustics were good and you could easily communicate across the entire table at normal volume, even in larger groups. Gladly again.

I actually really like the restaurant and always go there for lunch because it's close to my work, but unfortunately I always have bad experiences with the service. Again this lunchtime (April 22, 2025): the fat waiter who served outside was extremely rude just because I asked about the small sauces after the food was delivered. They never come by themselves, you just have to actively ask for them every time. I did this in a very friendly manner (I didn't have any bad intentions at all and didn't want to make any accusations) and in turn I was shouted at because I didn't wait 10 minutes to ask the question until the food was cold and the sauces were no longer of any use. I won't be coming again for the time being and strongly recommend that the team undergo training on friendliness in the hospitality industry.

Price performance is an absolute disgrace. Lunch menu! 3 thin slices of meat, 1 of it tough, with a side of cauliflower and potatoes. 1 single small potato. Even the salad was more than the hot meal. Dorade 2 small fillets, no lemon.

There were two of us in the evening, nice atmosphere, attentive waiters. The baby turbot was cut up at the table, a bit of sauce, and just bread, 33.00. Furthermore, a Spinach Gorgonzola pizza, tasted good, only the pizza knife was as blurry as a 90-year-old without teeth. Had to tear the pizza apart to eat it, 15.00.

For a long time, this was my favorite Italian restaurant in Munich; the pizza, in particular, was excellent. The quality of the pizza has declined significantly recently. If you're lucky, you find a good pizza maker, the pizza is excellent. It's a shame, I've always enjoyed going here.

A great restaurant! We were there as a JGA group (without informing in advance) and were given a very warm welcome. The service was not only attentive, but also incredibly humorous - we had a lot of fun! As a special surprise, the bride even received ice cream on the house. The food was outstanding and we were lucky enough to get seats on the terrace on this perfect day. The great weather rounded off the experience. Conclusion: An all-round successful evening with first-class food and a great team – absolutely recommended! 🎉🍽️

The atmosphere was nice and so was the interior, however it was quite noisy in the restaurant. The food was very good overall - the pizza tonno was delicious, baked in a real Italian oven, the pasta Marinara was tasty with a variety of seafood, and the risotto had good flavours but the rice that was very undercooked (almost crunchy). The desserts also left us satisfied. On a bad note, the staff wasn't very nice or welcoming. We were greeted poorly and our waiter was unpleasant and unenthusiastic while serving us. Otherwise we had a nice visit and the portions were a reasonable size.

I had lunch there with my friend and loved it. The restaurant exudes a warm and stylish atmosphere that invites you to linger. The dishes were not only delicious, but also reasonably priced for a city as expensive as Munich. The service was first class, attentive and fulfilled all my wishes with a smile. Seeing the positive reviews, we decided to have dinner there one day before New Year’s Eve. Unfortunately, the food was tasteless and bland, and the service was pathetic. There were two waiters, and it was clear they disliked their job—at least that’s how it appeared to us. It felt like they were being forced to work. We will not be returning to this restaurant.

We were nearby and wanted to reserve online using Maps, unfortunately there was nothing left available. We then called there and were able to reserve a table for 4 people. So we went there. The entrance area is a bit narrow, but after a short time we were shown to our table. The restaurant was well filled and there were always guests waiting for free tables. The waiters were all very friendly and the cards were needed. There are starters, soups, main courses, desserts, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, beers, pilsners, wines, coffee specialties and spirits. The drinks are needed quickly. The food is brought promptly and served hot. The portions are appropriate, as is the price-performance ratio. The food tastes very good. Even though the restaurant was full, it wasn't noisy, which is very pleasant. The atmosphere is appropriate, we felt very comfortable. The entrance is almost barrier-free with two small steps, and wheelchairs and strollers can also easily enter the restaurant. Reservation is recommended.

My wife, adult son and I ate here twice during a weeklong visit. Our waiter Manuel was welcoming and informative. The food was excellent both times. If we lived near by we would certainly eat here often.

We are now regular guests at the restaurant. The dishes consist of high-quality ingredients, even the “little things” such as unblackened olives. Everything is freshly cooked. The service is very friendly and excellent. The service manager Massimo welcomes us personally and has a highly motivated team. Everyone is very friendly with each other. Of course, this is also passed on to the guest and we really enjoy eating there, usually as a group of four. Our favorite dishes are various pizzas. Have also tried other main courses - also excellent. The side salad as a starter is always crisp and fresh with a great dressing. The tiramisu as a dessert is also worth recommending. Keep it up!

Ambiance, food and service are excellent. The profit margin on the wine list is remarkable. I would replace the knives with sharper ones, but the Pinsa stone plates might suffer.

Friendly and tactful staff, good food and reasonable portions (woman), the meat was grilled really well and the coffee was also enjoyable. What was particularly noticeable was the wide range of choices, including many vegetarian dishes and sessional cuisine

The waitresses were super friendly, always there right away and orders arrived very quickly despite the large group. The bruscetta was incredibly tasty, the penne Bolognese was a bit bland, but it was a matter of taste! Parking situation is very difficult
