Osteria Mugolone in München

Fantastic, tasty food. A must when in Munich.

We recently had a wonderful evening at Osteria Mugulone. The food was of a very high standard and the service was excellent – ​​it was a real pleasure!

The chef and wait staff understand the philosophy of Italian cuisine like few others without the frills: down-to-earth, clear, and to the point. A truly magnificent salmon trout fillet, prepared with love and respect for the ingredients, is served on a seemingly unspectacular plate. The wine pairing is solid, without any over-the-top bling. The dessert was "only" okay. By the time you get the espresso, you'll feel like you're well over the moon. The cozy living room ambiance and attentive service make for a wonderful few hours of relaxation. A truly wonderful place for both the palate and the soul.

We booked a table and the Valentine’s Menu for a romantic date, as I had fond memories of Mugolone and wanted to surprise my loved one. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations. The menu was overpriced for what it offered. The vegetarian starter was simply the regular dish with the meat removed—without any substitution—yet it was still charged at the same price. The main course was much too salty. The cocktail was overpriced for the ingredients and mostly ice, and the dessert was overly sweet. I remember the restaurant having a great wine selection, but we weren’t even asked if we’d like to order wine or given a wine menu. The restaurant was overcrowded, and with only two waiters managing all the tables, they were clearly overwhelmed. As a result, service felt rushed, with no time for recommendations or attention to detail. For a restaurant in this price range, the overall experience was disappointing. Sadly, we won’t be returning anytime soon, which is unfortunate given the good memories I once had of this place.

Really fantastic service and incredibly family friendly. Food was of the best quality and very tasty. Nice little menu with changing dishes. Mood/atmosphere also great. We'll be back :)

This restaurant was highly recommended by a friend, and I was very much looking forward to it; however, to be very honest, I was a bit disappointed. We went there on a Tuesday evening, it was only 3-4 tables including us. They have a short and simply menu (usually it’s a good sign), so it didn’t take us so long to make decisions. The starter was the best of all I must say, it was crispy and yummy, I didn’t see it anywhere else. The two main course was unpleasant. The chicken was not crispy or juice, it was average or even below average. The lamb was dry, feels like the meat in a goulash which you get in the restaurant in supermarket. The desert was yummy and I was too tired to take photos 🤣 One starter, two main course, one desert, two drinks, we paid 130 euro, and I won’t go back again although the service was good.

What was that then? Is it such a good idea to have an Italian meal in a restaurant run by a German chef and a German staff? I was actually very surprised at how noticeable it was. That was a dry, humorless, relatively unfriendly evening in an unpleasant atmosphere. Stupid saying from the boss at the end. Ate mediocre, paid dearly. There are many, many, many other beautiful Italian restaurants in Munich! You can save yourself this!

Fortunately, it reopened in August after a short interruption. We're happy to be here to kick off the weekend. P.S.: Currently (Sep 24) we are looking for a delay for the team.

We were recommended the Osteria by a shop owner on Blutenburgstrasse about two months ago and have now been there six times (four times spontaneously) - Tom and his team always gave us a very warm welcome and made us feel very comfortable - the food was really really good, The wine recommendations were perfect, small special requests were happily fulfilled 👍 ... not exactly cheap, but the price/performance ratio is absolutely OK! It is now closed for a few days and we are really looking forward to our next visit 😊 Best regards Peter

Unfortunately, very carelessly prepared plates, long waiting times and the food was poor in terms of price-performance ratio! It's a shame we went in - because the atmosphere really reminds us of a cozy and beautiful Osteria in Italy and we were bitterly disappointed. Some people got up because they had been waiting for the waiter for an hour. I can't make a recommendation...

Being first time yesterday with my date and all I want to say thank you specially to Tom an amazing chef and persononality and to his wonderful team. We had a beatiful romantic night and the athomsphere inside was also very cozy and home-feeling. Sitting outside felt like we are in a street somewhere in Italy enjoying our Campari drinks. About the food, no words. Fresh ingredients perfectly cooked pasta and the combination of flavors and textures left us speechless. Being in many restaurants in Munich, I can say this is by far number 1. See you very soon and thank you for yesterday night! You guys are awesome Ευχαριστω πολυ Τομ! 😁

I really like the atmosphere of this restaurant. For the three of us, the white wine lamb was a little sour for us. But the pasta and penne cotta were really good. Both the chef and the owner were very friendly and patient. They gave us cherries and lemoncello. They also gave us a big hug afterwards. It was a very precious memory and experience of our trip. I will always remember that the food on the trip is not only about food, but also about people.

We walked past after closing time and wanted to have another drink. We were still allowed in and given a warm welcome. We got the drinks we requested and they were very good. The boss was very accommodating, friendly and humorous. At some point we were the only ones and at midnight we toasted Lukas's birthday with the waiter. 11/10 experience we would come again and again. We will remember this evening positively.

Very attentive and nice service. The atmosphere is relaxed and interesting. Unfortunately, the food and especially the price/performance ratio couldn't convince us. Pasta was significantly harder than “al dente”, portions were very small but the starters in particular were very expensive. I am of the opinion that you can treat the guest to 0.5L beer for 4.90 and don't have to go down to 0.4L.

Varied, authentic Italian food in a family atmosphere. Will definitely come back!

It is beautifully decorated, the atmosphere is pleasant, the waiters are very friendly, the boss is attentive and humane, and the cuisine is exceptional! A pleasure from start to finish! The wine is excellent, the pane sardo and cheese plate are exceptional, as are the main courses. In short, thank you; It is for such service and cuisine that one goes to the restaurant: to spend a perfect and cozy evening with a stomach full of fresh and tasty products!

It is a really nice place, as soon as you enter and you are in another world, another environment, the food, although not a very large portion, is delicious and prepared freshly, it is really worth it and those who run the place are friendly, happy people and it shows that they love their work. Completely overpriced: Starter: pick salad with good mozzarella ball - one portion, divided if desired, main course: 2 x grilled Pulpo (very sparse portion), 0.75 l water, 0.75 l white wine (middle class) and 2 espressos. €160.00. Nice service that too often disturbs the table. Sorry, it was worth a try, but not a second one. Besides, I don't like visiting an unlit toilet... 😂

A sweet little Osteria, with a lot of family flair, the owner/chef cooks himself and also sits down at the table for a chat with the guests, we always enjoy being there 👍

Mein absolutes Lieblingsrestaurant in München! Wir besuchen es oft, und jedes Mal fehlen mir schlichtweg die Worte. Es ist meine erste Wahl, wenn ich etwas besonders Köstliches essen möchte. Bisher ist es noch nie vorgekommen, dass mir etwas nicht geschmeckt hat. Der Inhaber zaubert stets persönlich jede Mahlzeit, und dabei verwendet er ausschließlich frische Zutaten von höchster Qualität. Die Karte ist zwar klein, aber stets abwechslungsreich, sodass man sich nie satt essen kann. Der Service ist durchweg erstklassig, und das Ambiente trägt ebenfalls zu einem perfekten kulinarischen Erlebnis bei. Eine Reservierung im Voraus ist auf jeden Fall ratsam. Zugegebenermaßen ist die Parkplatzsituation nicht optimal, aber das nehme ich gerne als kleine Hürde in Kauf.

Wirklich perfekt der Besitzer ist ein unglaublich offener und freundlicher Mensch, der Service ist ebenfalls immer super zuvorkommend und freundlich und das Essen ist wirklich das beste. Sehr oft haben sie „Specials“ wie zum Beispiel ein wahnsinnig gutes Ragout welches sir sehr lange kochen lassen was den Geschmack sehr intensiv macht auch die Nachtische sind immer gut wirklich eine große Empfehlung

Vielen Dank für den schönen Abend. Wir sind spontan nach einem Jahr mal wieder hierher und sind begeistert. Tom, sein Bruder und Sohn Joshua sind unfassbar herzlich und die Speisen außerordentlich lecker. Wir kommen definitiv in Zukunft regelmäßiger und freuen uns jetzt schon ! Danke !

Durchschnittliches Essen, eindeutig überschätzt. Guter Wein, nette Service.

Osteria Mugolone Jedes Mal ein Gericht zum sprachlos werden. Der Koch geht auf viele Wünsche der Gäste ein. Lowcarb machbar - „natürlich“. ;) Warme Abende - Stimmung draußen in der Ecke der Mailingerstr. und Blutenburgstr. perfekt zum genießen. Drinnen ein schönes Künstlerisches Träumchen. Die Wände geschmückt von eigene Fotografieren oder von Künstler Freunden gibt einfach ein besonderes Flair. Danke Tom für alles was du zauberst für für all deine Gäste und mich. Freunde, Stammkundschaft, neugierige spontan Besucher, alles dabei. Ein geschätztes Lokal. Immer wieder gerne zu Besuch. Danke an das gesamte Mugolone Team :)

Schönes, gemütliches Ecklokal mit super sympathischen Team. Die Speisekarte ist nicht gross ( was ich immer sehr begrüße) aber für mich persönlich immer mit köstlichen Gerichten. An lauen Sommerabenden draussen unter dem Weinrebstock sitzend...hat was von Urlaub.

Wie immer alles von einer Topqualität.

Sehr leckeres italienisches Restaurant. An der Fassade befindet sich eine Weinrebe, die dem Ort eine besondere Note verleiht. Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend. Die Speisekarte wechselt häufig, und jedes Mal, wenn wir dort waren, waren wir überrascht. Die Qualität ist sehr gut und es gibt typisch sizilianische Gerichte. La pasta es casera y muy buena. Wir haben gezögert, ein Dessert zu bestellen, weil wir satt waren, aber Gott sei Dank haben wir es getan, es war wunderbar.

Wir hatten unsere Weihnachtsfeier im Mugolone. Sehr leckeres Essen, schön familiäre Atmosphäre, super freundlicher Service. Eine absolute Empfehlung!!!

Wir waren für eine Hochzeit hier und hatten das ganze Restaurant für uns. Die Bedienung und Kellner sind außerordentlich freundlich und sehr zuvorkommend. Das italienische Menü war absolute Spitzenklasse. Ich würde fast behaupten dass ich selten so gut italienisch gegessen habe in München wie bei der Osteria Mugolone. Ich komme sehr gerne wieder und freue mich schon auf den nächsten Besuch.

Das war genial! Sehr lecker Essen, von Antipasti über Pizza und Trüffel Pasta sowie Dessert. Frisch und mit Liebe gekocht.
