Delicious pasta and pizza for 30 years.

I was at Il Carissima in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel. The food was okay – Italian cuisine, nothing extraordinary, but delicious. I was particularly impressed by the ambiance: very authentic Italian and cozy. Even though it was midweek, the place was packed – which definitely speaks to the restaurant's popularity. The staff was super organized, friendly, and attentive – you immediately feel welcome. Overall, a lovely evening in a typically Italian atmosphere!

This is a delicious Italian restaurant in Germany. I went there on a recommendation from an Italian friend. The truffle pasta was delicious.

The food was truly a 10/10. The starter plate was top-notch and very generous, the pizza was a dream - and the aperitif was fantastic! Unfortunately, we were awkwardly seated at the corner near the cash register, which wasn't very romantic - as was the loud noise level with the music in the background. Our waiter wasn't exactly smiling, and there were communication problems among the waiters. The ladies were all super friendly. Excellent value for money 👍

Not what it was many years ago!!!!: The honest Italian iBa food, prices, service, value, Today in 2025, the service is abysmal, at times so arrogant that we almost left – but hunger made us stay, which we later regretted. The meal, for example, was spaghetti carpaccio – tagliatelle was served, the carpaccio was sliced ​​thickly by hand, not pounded, tough as a shoe sole – everything went back chewed into the napkin – the whole thing for just under €20!!! The pasta and mushrooms were drowned in Sane, and we had to search for them, etc. etc. etc. – but the worst part was the bad, rude service AND – we sat outside – the disgustingly dingy seats and tables – cobwebs and street dirt from at least several months on the partitions – so NEVER cleaned. When I think about what must be going on in the kitchen... ugh!!!

Really decent and traditional pizza! Perfect for those who love classic Italian cuisine and want to enjoy it with fine wine! But for those craving a decadent, greasy pizza with special flavours in the westernised style this is not the place to go. Either way it is worth the visit if you are ready to pay a bit more than average and you know what to expect. 👍

We visited the shop midweek, and it was moderately busy. Unfortunately, the service was very poor. We had to wait about 20 minutes to order. The drinks came quickly, and the pizzas arrived after another 20-30 minutes. They tasted okay. I would recommend the shop when it's quiet so you can avoid long waits for your order.

The pizza was really delicious, but the eggplant pasta was swimming in oil and inedible.

Not recommended; service was truly poor. Yes, it was a Saturday night and busy. However, I waited over an hour for a pizza and a salad, with no indication that it would take longer. Drinks were also only served after repeated requests. The food was good, but nothing special.

Reservations are ignored. Two people are asked to sit at a table where two others are already seated. On top of that, the table was in direct sunlight in over 30 degree heat. When you make a reservation, you expect a decent table, not a junky's table somewhere on the sidewalk. When you point out that you have a reservation, you are greeted with an irritated and unfriendly response, and in a derogatory tone, you are told that everyone else has made a reservation and that you can sit in the restaurant. Typical "Oberkassel restaurant behavior" that favors locals. This kind of behavior should have made you leave immediately! The food is delicious, but the pizza arrived almost 10 minutes before the pasta, so you basically have to eat it individually or let it cool down. On top of that, the wait is very long. Overall, not recommended.

We went there with seven girls for our stag or hen party and were totally disappointed. The staff were very unfriendly and barely spoke German, which led to misunderstandings. Unfortunately, I absolutely do not recommend it.

I wish we'd gone to bed hungry instead of ordering here. I'm really disappointed with my order. The quality and taste of the food are completely out of proportion to the price and service. It's a real shame.

Rude staff. The bald man asked us to sit down, but he was already very annoyed. Apparently the kitchen closes at 10 p.m., which wasn't clear. And we weren't informed of this at first. Then we sat down, and the man commented, "You have three minutes left." Very rude. We left immediately. Therefore, I can't comment on the food. A friendly reminder from the staff, "The kitchen will be closing shortly, but we'll be happy to take your order," would have been enough. Typical Düsseldorf.

Despite having a reservation, we had to sit outside in the cold weather. Our order took a whopping 50 minutes... The Coke was just warm. The pizza was delicious, but the service really let it all down. There was a DJ so loud you couldn't have a conversation.

You just feel tolerated, the Italian warmth that we know from other restaurants is completely missing, there is no attention towards the guest. Because of the really great pizza, 2 stars overall. It was very tasty! The tuna fillet pizza was also very special – the fish was very fresh. A white pizza, perfect for trying something different. The classic spicy salami was super tasty and the price-performance ratio was great. Absolute recommendation! I ate the truffle pasta in the parmesan nest and unfortunately the food wasn't good at all. The Parmesan nest was burnt and tasted accordingly, the pasta was okay, but not really tasty. You can have bad luck everywhere, but unfortunately that was really not recommended.

Very, very unfortunate. Once our favorite Italian, it has now unfortunately lost a lot of quality. The pasta I ordered to take away, apart from the fact that the portion was smaller due to the new packaging (adults won't get full of it), was literally stuck to the package. The pizza, thick burnt edge in the middle a soggy soup. The parmesan for the pasta was already moldy in one place in the mini packaging (for 2 portions of pasta). Thank you for good food in the past. We will not visit the restaurant again in the future.

I have always ordered takeaway food and have always been impressed with the quality. Without a doubt, this restaurant is one of the best Italian restaurants I have visited so far. Today I decided to enjoy the local dining experience. However, despite making a reservation in advance, we were not greeted or acknowledged when entering the restaurant. As someone who works in the catering industry myself, I understand the high number of people in this always busy restaurant. Nevertheless, I think it is essential to at least briefly greet guests and ask for their patience. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired in this regard, which is why I can only rate it with one star.

We had the vitello tonnato as a starter and two pizzas for the main course. Everything tasted okay, but nothing special. In my opinion, this is a place for people who live nearby.

Wir kennen das Carissima noch aus der Zeit 2010 - 2019, als wir in der Nachbarschaft wohnten und oft dort Essen waren. Also haben wir uns jetzt sehr gefreut im Rahmen eines Düsseldorf-Besuchs dort wieder hinzugehen. Es war enttäuschend. Früher war es dort laut, lebendig, authentisch herzlich und familiär. Heute ist es - vielleicht auch durch die deutliche räumliche Vergrößerung - zwar noch sehr laut, aber die authentische familiäre Atmosphäre ist verschwunden. Freundlicher Service eines Restaurants mit viel Durchsatz, mehr nicht. Zum Essen: Die Pizza war ok, der gegrillte Octopus mit Calamari kam leider erst 5 Minuten nach der Pizza - und war nur noch lauwarm (ich habe es nicht reklamiert, weil meine Frau mit der Pizza eh schon weit voraus war). Die Calamari waren weder gewürzt noch hatten sie Röstaromen. Das Pesto darauf konnte das nicht retten und passte irgendwie auch nicht. Der Octopus war trocken und die Kartoffel im Grillgemüse schmeckte eindeutig alt. Das war nix - und dafür zu teuer. Zum Trost waren die offenen Weine (Brezza und Primitivo) lecker. Fazit: Schade…

Pizza not baked properly, limp dough, some still completely soaked (which you could see with the naked eye, chef was probably asleep when taking it out). Toppings taste worse than your average frozen pizza from the supermarket.

We came here for the first time based on a recommendation on Facebook. Unfortunately we were disappointed, we haven't eaten such bad pizza in a long time. Looks great, taste flop. It was totally soft, the edge was nice and thick but not crispy at all, a shame. I give 5 stars for the pasta with truffles, it was really tasty. As far as service is concerned, unfortunately I only have to give it 3 stars. Lots of staff but unfortunately inattentive.

We had pasta. The portion is definitely enough for children, and quite good as an appetizer for adults. Everything tasted pretty good... But service grade 6. According to the motto "You're lucky, master, to be able to eat here" (yes, it's a problem when two children want pasta, but in the great Oberkassel there are only two shops for it in the area). Smile at service? For what reason? Apparently just an unknown spasm of the facial muscles. Safe place? No. If you go to the toilet for a moment with one child, you simply sit the other child one table away to make room for other guests.

Carissima was one of the first pizzerias on the left bank of the Rhine and was one of the best for a long time. That has changed radically. The pizza is soggy, consists of 1/4 thick crust and only has traces of the ordered toppings in the middle. The pizza is further away from crispy pizza base than the moon. Garlic? Oregano? Nothing, so we supplemented ourselves at home. Simply awful. This is the second time this has happened to us at Carissima. There will be no third attempt.

We were here with friends. The service was nice and the pasta and pizza tasted quite good. The bruschetta was m.m.n. Way too hard and not like we are used to from other Italian restaurants. We thought the waiting times were far too long – almost three quarters of an hour. It's a shame that I have the impression that critical reviews may not be welcome here.

Die Bruschetta waren m.M.n. viel zu hart und nicht wie wir sie von anderen Italienischen Restaurants gewohnt sind. Wir fanden, die Wartezeiten waren viel zu lang – fast eine dreiviertel Stunde. Schade, dass ich den Eindruck habe, dass kritische Bewertungen hier möglicherweise nicht gerne gesehen sind.

Update 2024, diagnosis: You became cocky and greedy. Additional catering space was added, carelessly decorated like a chip shop, Uber Eats was brought on board, it was incredibly hectic. Instead of spaghetti AOP, there's lingune every now and then - the German won't notice. Portions a third smaller. Pizza worse. Very, very unfortunate. That was once: Authentic, warm, delicious. Excellent pizza (my favorite: Sapporita!), delicious pasta. Friendly, warm staff. Anyone who is allegedly served unfriendly here should critically examine their own facial expressions.

Enttäuschend, schlechter Service, sehr unaufmerksam, ein geiziges Saltimbocca, verkochte Kartoffeln und ungewürztes Gemüse, Hauswein Rose eher unbefriedigend, es wurde uns keine Weinkarte angeboten, obgleich es anderen Wein gab. Das Dessert ein Skandal, Convenience, ich war eingeladen, ich werde definitiv, dieses Restaurant besuchen und auch nicht empfehlen.

It was loud and hectic, the staff forgot the salad. The pizzas were ok. Then I ordered a cassata for dessert. Immediately after the first spoonful I noticed that the outer layer was sticky - it tasted disgusting. I removed the outer layer and ate a little more, but left over half untouched. During the night I vomited several times and got chills. On Sundays I felt weak and couldn't eat. It wasn't until Monday afternoon that my stomach had slowly calmed down again and my circulation was more stable. I then informed the pizzeria using the contact form and have not received any response to date. A visit to a restaurant that causes this reaction in me and a management that can't handle complaints - I don't need that a second time and give this pizzeria 0 points

Food/pizza on site is great. We won't be ordering again because the pizzas were black in some places twice and too cold because the dough is so thin. It's actually a shame, because we think the pizza is one of the best in Düsseldorf.

Wir waren anlässlich eines Geburtstags abends dort mit 6 Personen. Wir haben uns für verschiedene Nudelgerichte und Pizza entschieden. Vorweg Carpaccio und Bruschetta. Das Carpaccio war unheimlich zäh. Die Tagliarini mit Tomatensoße und Carpaccio war absolut geschmacklos, selbst mit Salz wurden die Nudeln nicht besser und das Carpaccio war wie bei der Vorspeise extrem zäh! Die Pizza Tonno war matschig, der gesamte Boden durchgeweicht. Der Service war unheimlich unaufmerksam, trotzdessen das Restaurant nur halb gefüllt war. Es war auch kaum möglich Getränke zu bestellen, kein Kellner/in fühlte sich angesprochen, so konnten wir auch nicht das Essen reklamieren. Nach dem Essen wurden dann endlich nach 15 Minuten die Teller abgeräumt, nachdem wir mehrfach nachgefragt hatten. Die Rechnung kam immerhin recht schnell…. Es wurde uns zwar noch ein Digestif angeboten, was wir dann verneint hatten und nur noch raus wollten! Ich habe noch sehr gute Zeiten im Carissima in Erinnerung, wo der Service motiviert war und das Essen extrem lecke. Diese Zeiten sind leider vorbei.

I ordered two pizzas home on Sunday, 12/22/24, a margherita and a tuna pizza. Unfortunately, both pizzas were overcooked, the edges were burnt and the dough wasn't baked properly. The taste did not meet my expectations. When I raised my concerns with the restaurant, I was told that this was their way of cooking and that most guests were satisfied. A spontaneous visit via carissima. The pizza was supposed to be great - personally I don't like my pizza Neapolitan - my bad luck :) The fennel salad was absolutely amazing. I would take it again in a heartbeat.

The food is delicious, no question. However, the service is really bad. There were 7 of us there, the shop was full but there were around 7 waiters serving. They couldn't manage to get us all to eat at the same time. The drinks were forgotten, we had to remind them several times... we realized that it wasn't just us. I haven't eaten such bad pizza for so much money in a long time. It doesn't taste like anything and the taste of the analogue cheese masks everything. A margarita for 9.50 euros is quite an announcement; if it's good, then you might be happy to pay for it. After just half a pizza you notice how the cheap rubber cheese spreads in your stomach. Basically, when it comes to cuisine, the average Oberkassel resident is pretty simple either way. The Carissima is a good example of this. You can get better food for less money all over the city, but you just won't be seen there. So really a disappointing taste experience. The staff is friendly and anyone who likes pepper mills the size of small children and wants to look at a few Rolexes up close will also find something to their liking here. If you want to eat well, you should avoid this place.

This store is truly one of the worst in Düsseldorf. :) First we were lied to on site that our order was already being processed after we had waited 40 minutes, then we waited another 20 minutes and were told that we had been forgotten. No accommodating accommodation or anything like that. After we wanted to give it another chance and ordered online, they only gave the driver half of the order. And they were very rude to me on the phone. So visit at your own risk.

Grilled vegetable pizza is the best!!

Order online: Extra requests were not taken into account (garlic), lettuce was partly rotten and not easy to foresee. The only thing that was great was the fennel in the salad (not everyone has it). Pizza really limp and tasteless. Mozzarella not “done” properly. Very, very unfortunate.

Unfortunately I have to edit my 5 star review. Service is not professional and it’s not my fault that due to stress and arguments between workers at Carissima I got the wrong salad. They kinda forced me to take the wrong plate but I did not want to eat a salad with red meat so I please asked for the salad with mushrooms and turkey. Well, I got finally the turkey salad and the turkey was RAW inside and of course they did not even prepare another salad for me (I could find pieces of red meat hidden in between the mushrooms and salad leaves from the first salad served). Also the turkey tasted and looked like chicken (idk anymore). It was a shame. I loved Carissima but I’m not thinking of coming again. They did not even apologize when I paid and offered me a shot of alcohol when I pointed out the problem. Come on, I don’t even drink alcohol and I’m not gonna be happier by getting a shot of limoncello. Who do they think I am? They should have discounted at least the salad…

After the pizza, which was tasty, I had a really bad stomach ache and so did my colleague, so we both couldn't go to school the day after. Unless you are an adult or a lady you are totally neglected, our food arrived a good 20 minutes later than people who arrived much later than us, unlike ALL the tables, no bread was served to us. Arrogant waiter at that and the bruschetta cost a good €7 if I remembered for 2 pieces that weren't really that special...

Disappointing! There were four of us there. The beer was too warm. Two meals only came 15 minutes after the first dishes. I had a Milanese veal schnitzel where the breading was dripping with oil. The service was completely overwhelmed. We were happy when we were outside again. No recommendation from me.

I recently ordered a Margherita pizza to pick up for €9.50. Unfortunately, after consuming it, I felt unwell and experienced symptoms similar to food poisoning. A friend who ate with me also felt nauseated. It would be helpful if the pizzeria checks the freshness of the ingredients to avoid similar incidents in the future.
