Trattoria Amalfi in Potsdam

We ate there relatively spontaneously with three people. Smaller restaurant with a nice trattoria feeling, good menu with fair prices and extremely friendly service - we had nothing to complain about and will come back - with pleasure!

We ate very well again. The service is great and the employees are very nice.

The food was very good, but the ONLY ACCEPT CASH and they didn’t say it in advance. So we had to walk around and search for cash

Really authentic Italian. The service is very friendly, the food comes relatively quickly and is also very, very tasty. 10/10 recommended. Only a little crowded inside during lunchtime, as the interior is a bit smaller (but you can also sit outside)

The place was awesome and the waiter even spoke polish too, to my suprise! :) The food came quickly and the service was very patient and helpful. Definitely would come again. (I ordered Cola and Penne Con Gorgonzola E Spinach btw)

Great food, but cash only. OK, there's an ATM metres away, but this is 2024. Beware, San Pellegrino at €5.50 per 500ml is dearer than most Bier.

Nice restaurant in the pedestrian zone, where you can sit outside if the weather is right. The staff is nice and helpful, the food is OK, but nothing special. What's annoying is that you can only pay in cash. For a larger group, like ours, this is absolutely impractical and also a bit dubious.

I recently dined at this wonderful Italian restaurant and had an amazing experience! We ordered pizza and pasta with a flavorful tomato sauce and just the right amount of spice—it was perfection. The pizza had a crispy crust and the pasta was cooked to al dente perfection, making every bite delightful. For dessert, we enjoyed the panna cotta, which was silky smooth and perfectly sweet, paired with a rich espresso and American coffee. The service was excellent, and the ambiance added to the charm of the meal. Highly recommend this place for authentic Italian food!

This is by far where I've been worst treated in Europe (and that is a lot to say!) We arrived (wife and two kids) and we sat outside. An Italian waiter (Italian people should be nice, right?) barely spoke to us. He didn't speak good German and English so communication was a bit difficult. Our kids were starving, so we ordered a first time for them. Then at a second time, we order drinks for us. Then he never came despite he saw us waiving our hands. When he finally came, he was incredibly rude and disrespectful to my wife. We ordered and I ask him if he could be nicer and he answered me, again very rude that he had come 3 times to the table.... (Thats kind of his job isn't it?). After that, I told him that we were leaving. This street is packed with restaurants. If you can, avoid this place at all costs!

Top service and delicious food. We felt in great hands there.

The food is nothing special, not bad but nothing more. Only paying in cash on the grounds that the visa costs are too high is unacceptable, especially in a big city with many tourists. The way in which customers are informed of this is out of the question: “You should just read the card properly, it says so”.

The food was very, very tasty. The Tagliatelle Salmone is highly recommended. The waiter was also very friendly :)

We had 2 * gorgonzola & spinach pasta (absolutely fantastic, done to perfection), and 2 salads, very tasty both. The Service was quick and friendly. The only comments is that apparently on the whole street only cash payments are accepted. It is written on the menu, but being in German, we didn't notice it. Luckily there are bancomats close by.

This restaurant is on a busy street and looked inviting on a hot day. I went there with my two friends on our last day in Potsdam. It was a basic Italian restaurant that you'd find in nearly every other restaurant serving Italian cuisine- nothing special about it. The drinks menu was quite limited and there weren't as many mocktail options as I would've expected. Service was very slow, but we were in no rush, so it didn't bother me. This might be something to consider if you want to be served quickly. The food tasted alright (just a bit too salty for my taste) and came with complimentary bread and cheese. At the end of the meal, we asked for three separate bills, but got one. The person serving us said he couldn't because he had already printed one. He put the receipt on the table and said you can work it out how much each person had to pay. When we got our cards out, he said the restaurant only takes cash. There were no signs for that anywhere- neither outside the restaurant nor at the tables. He said 'everyone' on that street only accept cash (We didn’t get to test that statement as we didn’t stay in Potsdam long enough). We emptied our purses to look for cash as we had run out of cash by this point in our stay in Potsdam, but had several debit and credit cards between us which didn't seem to work. We managed to pay the full bill with whatever leftover coins and bills we had, but the waiter was not happy and started complaining that we didn't leave any tip for him. We apologised and explained that it was our last day in Potsdam, but the rude waiter shook his head, grumbled loudly, and walked off. We felt awful at being spoken to in such a rude way. Shockingly bad! It was a shame that what would've been a good last evening meal for us ended in an uncomfortable way.

Hello dear Amalfi team. Your food is really very good. Prices are a bit expensive but still within the legitimate range. Otherwise I can't say anything. The review from a week ago does not match my pizza. The pizza was very good. Yesterday I had spaghetti agli o olio. They were very well seasoned but in my opinion there wasn't enough on the plate. The view and ambience weren't really my thing either because it was right on the street. But regardless, the food was still very tasty and we came on two days. I also ate in the restaurant on site and noticed that the staff was pretty nice and funny at the same time.

Only cash payment possible, nobody tells you this until you actually have to pay. Food is below average, the waiter tried to scam us by bringing us a higher bill that turned out was not ours. Definitely not coming back.

Food is way too overpriced compared to what you get for a pizza 2 slices of salami 1 slice of cooked ham and 5 cans of pepperoni on a limp dough prepared without love is just disappointing The waiters are very mediocre and if you don't fit into their image you will be ignored Treated condescendingly I can only advise anyone who wants to get something for their money not to go there!!!!!

Ate very tasty and the price/performance ratio is completely fine. Unfortunately the chairs are quite uncomfortable and it is quite tight.

We had a very delicious lunch at the Trattoria Amalfi restaurant. The restaurant is conveniently located in downtown Potsdam and has a very cozy atmosphere. The food was very good and we will come back. The only point deduction is for the lack of the option to pay by card.

For lunch we had a sumptuous salami pizza and a very creamy risotto with porcini mushroom sauce, which was very tasty. The waiters were also very attentive without being intrusive. A good place to enjoy Italian cuisine on Potsdam's shopping mile.

Bun has been there for the second time, very tasty food. Unfortunately you can only pay in cash. But ATM is in the immediate vicinity.

Had a great lunch here while visiting with friends who live in the city. The food was excellent and the service good. The only down side was that they refuse to provide a glass of tap water along with your purchased drink. My child has a medical condition that requires them to drink a lot of water. At €5 per bottle, getting enough water during our lunch was more expensive than the meal itself.

Terrible rip off, avoid this tourist trap! Pizzas were seemed and tasted like they were straight from LIDL . Overprized sodas were completely without bubbles.

First of all, the food was rich and tasty. The service was friendly and had a sense of humor. It was a hot day. That's why it was boiling hot inside, in the free seats. It felt like there was no air conditioning. What you need to know, but in my opinion wasn't clearly made clear, was that you couldn't pay with a card, only with cash. Thank God I had something with me, otherwise I would have had to do the dishes.

Well, that's it. The food is a C grade, although the price is a 4 plus :(

Tolles Essen, ausgesprochen guter Service. Wir waren zu 8 mit Kindern ohne Reservierung, es wurde trotzdem für uns ein Tisch extra frei gemacht. Das Essen kam schnell und sehr gut (inkl. alle Dessert-Angebote - wir haben uns durchprobiert :-) Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

It is very expensive, and the pizzas, at least the margarita, have no flavor.

Meal 4 is not passed. It cost us 86 euros for 5 people, a pizza and a beer without anything else.

Unfortunately, my companion and I found the Pizza Napoli to be a bit dry. We were able to eat with our hands, which is what I prefer with pizza! So it's not that bad! The service is attentive, friendly, polite and accommodating!

Spontaneously ended up in Potsdam to watch the Germany game against Denmark. Everything was full. What service - an extra table was set up for us!!! The Napoli pizza was world class for me. My friend also loved his pizza. Tiramisu was also great. I will remember this great evening very well. After a wonderful day, we discovered a friendly, family-run pizzaria. Thank you.

This is a restaurant located in downtown Potsdam. The aglio olio is okay, and overall it's good. The person serving us was also cheerful, so we enjoyed our meal.

A really fine location with specialties from the Amalfi Coast. Meaningful and characteristic dishes and an additional daily menu with, among other things, fish dishes. The service staff is very attentive and careful. The ambience in the outdoor area is a bit stocky, but professionally used. We enjoyed it.

Everything was good, food, ambience, service...highly recommended. But since you can't pay by card, which is very surprising, especially in a city like Potsdam and currently only 3 stars...

The restaurant is located in the Dutch quarter of Potsdam. Since it was warm, we ate outside, tables and chairs were functional. The service was friendly and communication was reduced to the bare minimum. The explanation why card payment was not possible was simply unpleasant for us as guests. My gnocchi was straightforward and without an appetizer, I probably wouldn't have been full. The goat cheese sauce was rich, but truffles were unfortunately only present minimally. The pizza was clearly topped, garlic was present as requested. Vitello Tonato: Sauce too little, meat cut too thick! There was a greeting from the kitchen which included white bread, oil and vinegar.

No card payment possible. Apparently because of tourists???? Otherwise the food was acceptable but no reason to come back

Restaurant located in Holländisches Viertel, Potsdam. Totally Italian, the service was very kind and friendly to us, speaking to us in Spanish to make us feel at home. The food is spectacular and the price is very cheap in relation to the amount of food.

Everything great! We sat outside on the terrace and enjoyed the beautiful weather with a cocktail and very tasty antipasti and pasta. The service was polite and brisk. Ambience ok too. Will definitely come back! Drunk a Sarti Spritz for the first time in my life, super good!

We had dinner there this afternoon and it is very bad. I've never published reviews before, but that was too blatant earlier. So the pizza was poorly topped, the dough was bad, and the whole thing tasted terrible. The cannelloni are also very stingy and small, the taste cannot be described at all. The fish soup didn't have a good taste, no spices, and unfortunately it was also bad. The food without love and craft, they don't know what they are doing. The waiters were just annoyed that we were there. But it doesn't matter, everyone has a bad day sometimes. Only the food has to be right, which is definitely not the case here! Well, the pizza was okay considering the circumstances, I thought these were real Italians so the pizza can only be good, but I've eaten better because it starts with the dough whether a pizza is good or not. The waiters were super nice and accommodating, for that 5 ⭐️. But that's not enough. If you want to understand what I'm talking about, please visit the brine at Lichtenrader Damm. 3 stars only because cash payment was possible, for whatever reason...

The pizza was definitely a frozen pizza and tasted like nothing. The pasta sauce had a watery aftertaste and the male waiters were unprofessionally flirty. A pity!

A place worth recommending, anyone who wants to feel like in beautiful Italy should visit this place and eat uniquely prepared dishes, drink Aperolia Spritti and listen to the music of a street musician. I recommend it 👏👏👏

That was surprising. Don't be confused, the furnishings are not modern, more classic Italian and a bit cramped. I had pizza and loved it. Rarely eaten so deliciously. The red wine primitivo is really good. The service was very friendly and helpful. Absolute recommendation.

The pizza was normal. One of the waiters was super rude and I think he cursed us in Italian. While paying in cash, my non-German- speaking friend didn’t understand what is going on. He just gave the money and was waiting for the return. The waiters gave back the money until the last 10 cents and one of them was upset an said something presumably bad in Italian. Anyway, we give a tip only if we want. Otherwise, they can change the price.

Visiting the Amalfi for the second time, disappointed for the second time. The staff is superficial and unfriendly. We ate pasta and salad. The chef gets the 2 stars for the pasta. Spaghetti Carbonara very well done and not drowned in cream. The salad was embarrassing and not really worth writing about. A look at the neighboring table reveals a similar picture. A different salad, an equally disappointed guest's face. It should be noted that the salad comes at a hefty price. Only cash is accepted when paying!!! Nowhere does it say that only cash payments are accepted. Thanks for the experience and the reminder that there won't be a third visit.

First visit to the “Trattoria Amalfi Potsdam”. Very nice atmosphere with friendly service staff. As a free greeting from the kitchen there is bread with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and a generous portion of grated cheese. I also had a delicious bruschetta as a starter and as a main course a really good pizza salami with additional anchovies (surcharge 2€). The pizza was very good. The price-performance is also very good. Payment is not possible in cash. I can recommend “Die Trattoria Amalfi Potsdam” and would be happy to come back.

The food was ok, BUT: When paying it was said that no card payment was possible "on the whole street". You could have said that beforehand because we didn't have enough cash with us. But they knew straight away where the next machine was. In 2024, a restaurant without card payment is an absolute no-go! Change or close up shop!

Cozy and small restaurant. The food is very good and the atmosphere invites you to linger and relax. The service was very friendly and attentive. The fillet and scampi were cooked perfectly. The vegetables on the side were very fresh and flavorful.

Unfriendly staff! We were not informed that payment was only possible in cash! Instead we were insulted stupidly by the waiter. We should therefore know that you cannot pay by card throughout Potsdam. In addition, the restaurant is not an original Italian restaurant! Not again!!

Everything was perfect, food, ambience and the really great service. We'd love to come back.
