Tomatissimo in Bielefeld

Excellent ambiance, very courteous staff – not intrusive, but very attentive. High-quality food. Questions and suggestions are answered competently.

Overall, the food was well-prepared (we had several appetizers, main courses, and desserts), and the slightly higher prices were justified (the only thing we didn't like was the very dry bread). The atmosphere was lovely and very cozy – especially during the Christmas season. However, the service, while friendly, lacked warmth and was unfortunately quite inattentive. Not only did we, but the table next to us, eventually leave our empty glasses on the windowsill. We were never asked if we wanted anything else to drink, even though our glasses and bottles were empty. Therefore, it's certainly one of the better restaurants in Bielefeld, but not one we can wholeheartedly recommend.

For this year's Christmas party, our Rotary Club chose Tomatissimo in Kirchdornberg. Upon entering the half-timbered house, we were greeted by a cozy warmth. The owner served a four-course meal that impressed with its depth of flavor and refinement. Every single dish was met with enthusiasm at the table. The service team was consistently warm and welcoming, contributing significantly to the relaxed atmosphere of the evening. The entire group felt completely at ease and welcome. Such a culinary experience will surely remain a cherished memory for all participants for a long time to come.

+ The bread starter was very tasty + The amuse-bouche was delicious + The appetizer was also excellent (very filling, thankfully they shared it) + The waiter was friendly - Both main courses were only moderately enjoyable. Considering they cost €40 each, I don't think that's entirely justified.

+ Very high-quality food at a reasonable price + Very friendly and attentive service I found it particularly fascinating how classic, robust, and sometimes even hearty ingredients like sauerkraut, pumpernickel, or capers were subtly and harmoniously integrated into the overall flavor experience.

On December 5, 2025, we picked up a delivery for our Christmas party (Hornberg Pflege GmbH). Cheeks, antipasti, salad, etc. We were met by very friendly staff. They helped us load the food. The food was on par with a Michelin-starred restaurant, and I overheard one of the employees say she had never eaten so well. We were there on a Friday evening with five people and had a truly enjoyable time. Each of us agreed that the food was of a very high standard. We were particularly impressed by the exceptionally friendly service team. We will gladly return.

I had planned a surprise weekend for my brother and a very good friend for their birthdays (both were turning 65). During the day, we were at the Detmold Open-Air Museum in perfect weather. The highlight of the evening took place at Tomatissimo. We opted for the 9-course surprise menu. At Tomatissimo, we received a warm welcome and were exquisitely pampered and looked after throughout the entire evening – simply fantastic! Bernhard Grubmüller also came to our table and chatted with us. It was very interesting. I highly recommend Tomatissimo; it's simply fantastic. We are thrilled.

The selection of dishes is just right and offers more than just a "standard meal" – not to mention the appetizer. I would go back here anytime for a special occasion.

We visited Tomatissimo as part of a company outing and were thrilled. All the dishes at the Mediterranean buffet were exquisitely balanced in flavor. The chef definitely knows his craft. The service was very friendly and attentive. Special requests were also accommodated. All in all, gastronomy of the highest caliber. Unfortunately, we can only give this place 5 stars. Perfect food and above all perfect service!

We ate at Tomatissimo yesterday and it was an absolute blast! We received a very friendly welcome and were given a table in the corner where our dog could lie quietly under the table. The service was present but not intrusive and knew how to answer questions at any time. Thanks again for the gin recommendation. We had a multi-course menu where every course was a highlight. We were at Tomatissimo years ago and it was good, but now the dishes were even more refined and sophisticated. The team in the kitchen really knows their craft. At the end, Bernhard Grubmüller came to our table and we had a funny conversation, his laugh was contagious. For us a clear recommendation to go out for a really good meal. Unfortunately it's really far out and out of the way and there's absolutely nothing around it.

I recently visited the restaurant and absolutely loved it. The food was excellent and exceeded my expectations of home-style cooking. The service was exceptionally friendly and accommodating, definitely worth 6 stars! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, you immediately feel at home. I found it particularly positive that dogs are welcome and there were no problems whatsoever. All in all, a great experience that I can recommend to everyone.

We give it a 4.7. The food is solid and thoroughly enjoyable. The menu is updated approximately every eight weeks—for those who appreciate culinary variety. The service is excellent, although we found it even a little more charming two or three years ago: less formal, but warm and pleasantly relaxed—we particularly liked that. But don't worry, we'll be back in the summer and are already looking forward to the next round! 😊

I ate at Tomatissimo with my partner on Friday, and I can only say that it's worth every penny! You do have to dig deeper into your pockets, but the service and the taste experience are outstanding! I would definitely go back to Tomatissimo for special occasions!

Wir waren vor einigen Wochen mit Freunden dort. Etwas nervig war die Parkplatzsuche bei Anreise. Die Parkmöglichkeiten sind sehr eingeschränkt. Aber dafür kann das Restaurant ja nichts. Sehr guter Service und angenehmes Ambiente. Im Sommer gibt es auch die Möglichkeit draußen zu sitzen. Die Speisen waren ausgezeichnet, aber für den Preis darf das auch erwartet werden. Wiederholung ist nicht ausgeschlossen.

A historic small community. In the center is the fairytale building. There is a fountain in front of the entrance. At the entrance you are greeted by friendly staff who lovingly take care of your winter coat and accompany you to the table. The staff is professional and attentive. The food........ A culinary feast for the SENSES!!!!! A big thank you to the chef and his kitchen helpers!!! UNIQUE!!!!! BRAVO!!!!

A beautiful and very cozy restaurant. The service is top and the food is extremely tasty. I particularly liked the chocolate cheesecake dessert. One of the best desserts I've ever eaten!

Regarding the ambience, I would say that everything is a bit old. The service was okay, but towards the end, when the restaurant was full, it just got a little thinner. The Valentine's menu was okay, but nothing more. Something just somehow nothing special. Personally, I would have expected more for €105 per person.

Einzig das Ambiente ist nicht ganz mein Geschmack - etwas „bieder“. Aber eben mein Geschmack. Allerdings in Sommer draußen neben dem Brunnen zu sitzen ist wiederum ganz mein Geschmack.

Highest quality and perfect service = Tomatissimo! It's the beginning of July 2024 Had the 6-course Portuguese menu there. The basic components of the courses are based on Portuguese recipes/dishes, which Mr. Grubmüller's team interprets with their own ideas. The taste is extremely interesting, wonderfully prepared and garnished with very good service :) There's e.g. B. candied olives, smoked peaches or a pea shell sorbet, which offers a fantastic taste experience with various other ingredients. Furthermore, the dishes are perfectly and aesthetically prepared. You should certainly find out about the menu in advance and decide whether the menu appeals to you. However, we think it's worth eating there because it's not the general standard and you get something really exceptional. There are also z. B. Steak and pasta are offered, and vegetarians and meat lovers alike will be happy there. It's certainly not a restaurant for those on a budget, and someone wrote that the portions are quite small. Yes, the portions for the course menu are certainly smaller than for a single menu, but after 6 courses (including dessert) you are full. However, if you want to fill your stomach as cheaply as possible, you've come to the wrong place. You'd better go to the Greek restaurant around the corner and get a plate of gyros :) The focus here is clearly on quality over quantity, but you'll get enough here too! Wir waren (zu dritt) zum ersten Mal auf Empfehlung eines Kollegen im „Tomatissimo“ und waren äußerst angetan. Die Qualität der Speisen war exzellent, das Ambiente gemütlich und die Bedienung super-aufmerksam, freundlich, hilfsbereit und angenehm entspannt. Die Preise sind kein Schnäppchen, aber der Qualität von Getränken, Speisen und Service angemessen. Aus unserer Sicht eine absolute Empfehlung, und wir werden bestimmt wiederkommen.

The service was very nice and there's nothing else to complain about the shop, but the food wasn't my thing at all and I personally didn't like it.

We discovered Tomatissimo by chance because we had attended a concert in the church next door. And what can I say? What a find! In all of our visits (we come here two to three times a year) we have never been disappointed! In addition to a few classics on the menu (Viennese - not pork - schnitzel, spaghetti made from a wheel of Parmesan, etc.), there is a lavishly stocked menu that changes regularly, but is always characterized by sophistication, creativity and seasonality. You are therefore spoiled for choice... Only when it comes to desserts is the selection very clear. Only the complainers are likely to be disappointed at Tomatissimo. They should be happy to spread their bad vibes elsewhere. What also speaks for Tomatissimo is that the same people have been providing service here for years (!). For us one of the most worthwhile addresses for good food in East Westphalia!

The Asia meets OWL menu completely convinced us. The flavor components were excellent and the wine pairing was perfectly matched to the menu. What should be highlighted is the expert, very friendly and courteous service team. The next visit to a restaurant won't be long in coming.

Yes, I've been a fan for years and I love it. If there was something to complain about... I can't think of anything... in the meantime we have to be careful that the children don't find out about it. Otherwise they want to go with you.

Starting with the uncomplicated and extremely attentive service, which literally read every wish from your lips, to the perfectly coordinated menu that Bernhard and his kitchen crew served perfectly and precisely to the point. Wonderful craftsmanship and creativity. Cevice made from scallop and veal, which was particularly fine and well balanced, came with an absolutely harmonious wine. It was a huge pleasure, experience and enjoyment for us. Many many thanks

What is striking is the relaxed and friendly atmosphere when you enter the restaurant. The service accompanies the evening in an unobtrusive, knowledgeable and attentive manner. As a starter, the tapas, the portion size of which actually invites you to share. Polpette from Münsterländer Iberico is wonderfully spicy without being hot, the onion cake presented in a tender shortcrust pastry tart whets your appetite. What followed was a creamy tomato risotto that you could want every day. However, the note of the dried oregano seemed a little too dominant for us. The Wiener Schnitzel as a classic lives up to its name, thinly plated, a delicate, finely battered breading, what more could you want. Another discovery was the yellow beetroot with the buckwheat polenta, a variety of flavors with changing textures - perhaps a “new” classic? A culinary evening in the interplay of traditional and innovative kitchen performance and confident service characterizes Tomatissimo and undoubtedly makes it one of the best addresses in the restaurant landscape - not just in East Westphalia.

Wie immer rund um ein toller Service mit stets positiver Energie

Auffällig ist die entspannte und freundliche Atmosphäre, wenn man das Restaurant betritt. Der Service begleitet den Abend unaufdringlich, kenntnisreich und aufmerksam. Als Vorspeise die Tapas, deren Portionsgröße tatsächlich zum Teilen einlädt. Polpette vom Münsterländer Iberico wunderbar würzig, ohne scharf zu sein, der Zwiebelkuchen im zarten Mürbeteigtartelette dargeboten macht Appetit. Es folgte ein cremiges Tomatenrisotto, das man sich jeden Tag wünschen könnte. Allerdings schien uns die Note des getrockneten Origanos ein wenig zu dominant. Das Wiener Schnitzel als Klassiker macht seinem Namen alle Ehre, dünn plattiert, eine zarte, fein soufflierte Panade, was möchte man mehr. Eine Entdeckung auch die Gelbe Bete mit der Buchweizenpolenta, eine Aromenvielfalt mit wechselnden Texturen- vielleicht ein „neuer“ Klassiker? Nicht zu vergessen bleibt das hervorragende- sehr wahrscheinlich selbst gebackene- Brot. Ein kulinarischer Abend im Wechselspiel von tradierter und innovativer Küchenleistung und einem souveränen Service zeichnen das Tomatissimo aus und machen es zweifellos zu einer der besten Adressen in der Restaurantlandschaft- nicht nur in Ostwestfalen.

I'm pretty disappointed. The schnitzels fart dry. The included lemon sachet left endless plastic fibers on the 2 dry mini schnitzels. And even though I discreetly pointed out this faux pas to two employees, I was charged in full for this miserable meal. If the warm potato salad hadn't been the best I'd ever eaten and the service hadn't done such a great job, it would NOT have gone through like that. Oh, I have a big mouth, but I also had to struggle with the huge cucumber slices in the side salad. I'm already looking forward to the next time. I would be happy to show you how to do it better. Ich habe zum ersten Mal ein sechs Gänge Menü gegessen, und ich bin begeistert! Ich hatte die vegetarische Variante, meine Begleitung die mit Fleisch. Beide Menüs waren kreativ, handwerklich erstklassig umgesetzt und einfach lecker! Dazu eine absolut aufmerksame und liebenswerte Servicekraft- es war einfach ein toller Abend!

Yesterday we were at Tomatissimo for the first time. Service really great. We ordered the 9 course menu and it was great. Tip: Ventilation would be advisable as it was very warm in the restaurant yesterday.

Wie waren am Donnerstag Abend zu zweit im Tomatissimo essen und es war wieder einmal ein entspannter Abend, sehr freundlichem flotten Service mit einem köstlichem Essen. Und das, obwohl unerwartete aufgrund des tollen Wetters, das Tomatissimo stark besucht war. Der alkoholfreie Aperitif war mega lecker, genauso wie das Risotto mit Steinpilzen. Gerne wieder.

Wir haben mit einem befreundeten Paar unseren 15.Hochzeitstag nachgefeiert und waren zum wiederholen Mal total begeistert. Zu unserer besonderen Freude hatte das gesamte Tomatissimo-Team kurz zuvor eine Portugal-Reise unternommen und im Nachgang dessen mehrere portugiesische Gerichte in die Karte aufgenommen. Als Vorspeisen hatten wir uns sowohl den MEERESFRÜCHTESALATE, als auch den SERRANOSCHINKEN ausgesucht und waren von beiden Gerichten total begeistert, was sowohl die Präsentation und den Geschmack, als auch das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis angeht. Das optische Highlight war der PULPO GEGRILLT UND GERÄUCHERT, welcher unter einer Glashaube serviert wurde und beim Abheben der Haube einen gaaaanz leichten, wohlriechenden Rauch frei gab. Wie schon bei unseren vorherigen Besuchen im Tomatissimo waren wir auch dieses Mal wieder begeistert vom Ambiente, vom hervorragenden Service des gesamten Personals, welches sehr OFFEN und FREUNDLICH, FACHKUNDIG und überaus FLEXIBEL war und auch auf diverse Sonderwünsche gerne eingegangen ist; wenn man dazu dann auch noch den Chef persönlich in der Küche wirbeln sieht, weiß man, dass man mit diesem Restaurant wieder die richtige Wahl getroffen hat.

Die Zeit mit meinen Gästen am 16.6.24 wurde vom Tomatissimo Team hervorragend gestaltet - sehr freundlich, sehr aufmerksam und das Essen war spitzenmässig. Ein rundrum gelungenes Geburtstagsessen für alle, inkl. Geburtstagsüberraschung, über die ich mich sehr gefreut habe. Ebenso meine Gäste. Heißt: jederzeit gerne wieder zu Gast zu sein im Tomatissimo.

Das Tomatissimo besuchen wir zu besonderen Anlässen immer wieder gerne. Das Essen war bisher immer mindestens sehr gut, vom Gruß aus der Küche bis zum Dessert. Hervorragend hat uns dieses Mal das schwarze Risotto geschmeckt. Die Weinauswahl ist ebenfalls sehr gut für uns. Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir werden auch in Zukunft sehr gern kommen.

The atmosphere is okay, nothing special but not particularly inhospitable either. The service was also friendly and often made sure things were going well. The food, however, and that's what it's all about, was simply not enough. For the price you should at least expect to be full. My needs are not so high that one should claim that I am not the target group. It was tasty, although my food was unexpectedly spicy. This could not be read from the menu beforehand, as there is little about the individual dishes.
