The restaurant of the legendary Munich brewery in Bielefeld. Delicious traditional dishes and beer. Large, new, spacious halls. Beautiful location in the old town hall. Great atmosphere.

Always a good experience, the food is excellent, a beautiful large restaurant with a great beer garden. Children are welcome here.

My girlfriend and I ordered the pork knuckle, white sausage as a starter, and the homemade spaetzle with goulash. The price was quite reasonable, I'd say. It was a bit noisy on a Wednesday evening, but bearable, hence the 4 stars for the atmosphere. Otherwise, highly recommended, we'll be back!

Our stay (9 people) was okay. The staff were friendly. Unfortunately, the kitchen has declined significantly, and all the dishes tasted like they came from convenience foods. Very disappointing. Even the three dips/creams in the appetizer were practically tasteless. The Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) was a small portion with too little cheese and too few fried onions. The roast came with a ready-made sauce—it certainly didn't taste homemade. The goulash was a small portion and too acidic. Etc. A real shame. It's a nice place to have a beer, but you don't need to eat there. It's also a pity that the Hofbräu doesn't offer the traditional half-chicken with fries. That would be a good fit, and you can't really go wrong with that.

We love the food and service there 👌

Every time I'm back in Bielefeld I come back here for food. Love the pork knuckle and the Schnitzel. The waiters/ waitresses are hit and miss. The first night we had one who was very attentive without being pushy, fantastic (unfortunately didn't get the name). The waitress on our second night was very meeeh. No checking in on us when the food came, not particularly friendly... As I said, meeeh. The food is awesome though, hence overall still 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I've been thrilled with this place since opening day. It's a fantastic restaurant, with a lovely beer garden, a great atmosphere, and it's always busy. The owners run the place with joy and energy. I notice this in many details – the quality, the service, and the friendly, family-like atmosphere. Everything I've tried so far has been delicious and I'm a regular customer. Great idea: They've now added a daily specials menu with even more tasty dishes!

It was delicious. I was very surprised by some of the negative comments. There were 40 of us, and everyone loved it, and it was surprisingly inexpensive too.

The ambiance and service were good. I ordered beef cheeks with red cabbage and dumplings. What I received was a hard, lumpy piece of cheek, lymph nodes, or whatever. It was absolutely not tender. The red cabbage wasn't seasoned to my taste. Suitable for drinking beer.

The service and atmosphere are very good! However, I have to deduct points for the food – it was consistently too greasy (especially the meat), and the temperature of the food suggested it had been reheated rather than freshly cooked.

A weekend visit to the Hofbräuhaus. You open the door, go down the stairs, and find yourself in a stylishly restored vaulted cellar, strongly reminiscent of the original Munich Hofbräuhaus. Wooden benches—but with cushions—are arranged in spacious groups with varying numbers of seats, leaving plenty of room to move around. The staff, dressed in traditional Bavarian clothing, greeted us warmly. We quickly ordered our drinks (without being pushy), and they arrived just as promptly. The menu was available from the start. The selection was manageable, but very diverse, so there was something for everyone. The servers attentively observed the guests and kept track of everyone's choices until they had all made their selections. Orders were taken quickly (and special requests were accommodated), and the food arrived within 15 minutes. Everything was delicious, and even hearty eaters were very satisfied with the generous portions. The beer was very smooth (it is, after all, the original Munich Hofbräu), and the attentive service made it easy to order more at any time. : ... And when nature called, very clean restrooms were available for relief. Due to the Christmas holidays, it got very crowded from 6 pm onwards (apparently, many people have enjoyed themselves there in the past), making conversation at the table considerably more difficult, but not impossible. Overall, we had a very pleasant evening at the Hofbräuhaus. We were very satisfied and will certainly be back soon.

Very tasty, also great for larger groups

If you want to eat "very good" Bavarian food, this is the place to go. It's been in Bielefeld for a while, but we came here for the first time on a recommendation. It's a bit noisy, which could be mitigated with partitions/cloths/decorations, etc. Otherwise, it's decorated in a truly typical Bavarian style with a light, airy feel. The service is super friendly and attentive, always with a witty remark ready, which fits perfectly here! 😉 The menu is very concise, which speaks to the quality of the food. Our order arrived promptly, and we were genuinely surprised... incredibly delicious, absolutely flavorful, and the portions were generous! We can absolutely recommend it; if they had a wheelchair, we would have used it to get home! 🤣 We were so full and satisfied! 🫠😊 A top address for good, traditional Bavarian food! Thank you so much, we'll definitely be back!

Went in here for a beer in the evening. The place was pretty busy, lots of people were partying and singing 😄. Got a table fairly quickly, and the beer was good. Next time I'll order food too 😉

Delicious food and drinks, great atmosphere, but extremely loud and hot (almost unavoidable given the size). Huge portions.

The initial positive impression (Bavarian ambiance) quickly faded. A better seat was refused, supposedly because a large group had been expected. The service staff was attentive and quick, the food looked good but tasted absolutely subpar.

October 30, 2025, midday: The huge premises were empty and correspondingly quiet. I strategically sat next to the bar so I would be visible in the vast halls, which worked. The Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) and the Hofbräu Original were delicious, and the service was relaxed.

We went to the Hofbräuhaus in Bielefeld in the evening and unfortunately discovered that they stop serving food at 9 pm. For a Bavarian restaurant like the Hofbräuhaus, it's quite unusual to stop serving food at 9 pm – one would normally expect them to continue offering meals later. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly. Overall, however, we were disappointed and will not be returning.

Last week, we visited the Ratskeller for the first time on a recommendation. The ambiance is definitely a success and very reminiscent of Bavarian cuisine. The waitresses, dressed in dirndls, were attentive and incredibly friendly. The food was solid Bavarian fare, delicious, and the portions were generous. If we had to deduct a point, it would perhaps be the noise level. Due to the size of the restaurant and the ceiling construction, it can get a bit noisy when it's full. But for us, that's actually typical of Bavaria. The value for money is excellent. Definitely recommended.

The ambiance is great, but the service and food are unfortunately very inconsistent… The Hofbräuhaus am Rathaus is really beautifully done – the ambiance is perfect, the place looks fantastic, and it's very inviting. Unfortunately, we've noticed on several visits now that the service isn't always smooth. Some employees seem stressed or overwhelmed, which unfortunately also affects the service. For example: We were seated at a table, moved after five minutes, and – after we had already finished our appetizers – asked to change tables again because it was supposedly reserved. That was disappointing, especially since we had ordered a three-course meal. This kind of thing simply shouldn't happen. As for the food: The soups and appetizers were really good, no complaints there. The schnitzel, however, was a disappointment – ​​it tasted burnt, the breading was too dark and had small burnt bits mixed in, and the meat was tough. I can tolerate a lot, but burnt and tough food is simply difficult to eat. For almost €30, you can definitely expect more. The first waiter immediately noticed the dark breading, reacted very professionally, and offered to cancel the order right away – kudos for that. Shortly afterward, however, another waitress came and said, "I tried it, it's fine." That was unfortunately unpleasant and somewhat diminished the otherwise good service from the first waiter. (Perhaps we just caught them on a bad day... I'm not entirely sure.) I had only heard good things about it beforehand. The beer is excellent, and the Hofbräuhaus is perfectly fine for watching football. However, we probably won't be coming back for a meal, maybe just for some soup or a cold beer. You know how it is – a shame considering the price. A nice idea, even better if the execution were improved. A restaurant like this would really benefit Bielefeld.

A popular Bavarian beer restaurant; the beer is fresh and high-quality, reason enough in itself to stop in. The beautiful historic building is another reason. You can enjoy well-prepared Bavarian dishes. The service may not always be efficient, but it is very friendly.

From the lunch menu: fried halibut with root vegetables and potato pancakes for €12.50. Very good and very tasty at a reasonable price. Friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere.

We went out for a delicious meal with friends. The service was attentive, friendly, cheerful, and simply excellent. All the staff were dressed appropriately for the Hofbräu (dirndl and lederhosen), creating a harmonious overall impression. We had a lovely evening and will definitely come back.

I went to have special lunch menunwhich was a fillet of breaded fish with potato pure fries and coleslaw, it was very good, the real authentic bavarian flavour. The brew was exyraordinary and the staff super nice and friendly. The place is amazing. Congratulations, I loved it!

The schnitzel was super filling and I was suprised the quantity and quality behind it. I loved the ambience and the vibe. Especially coming during the Oktoberfest season made my experience better. I also love their location. Very easy to get by.

Hamelin's oldest inn. Brewery charm and rustic delicacies. The specialty is the "Salvator" Bock draft beer. A piece of Hamelin's history and a piece of home. An inviting place to linger and slow down. A must-stop.

We were at an event outside in the beer garden in the evening – the ambiance was fantastic and created a really good atmosphere. The food came from the buffet and was okay, but nothing special in terms of taste. Overall, it was a lovely evening in a great atmosphere.

Slices of Leberkäse, fried like you'd find in a supermarket. Some of the fried potatoes were undercooked. The fried egg was good.

A very nice restaurant in the shadow of the beautiful old town hall. As you would expect from the Hofbräuhaus, you are welcomed and served with typical Bavarian hospitality. The menu offers all sorts of delicacies in addition to typical Bavarian dishes. The drinks list is also absolutely impressive. All in all, the food is very tasty and plentiful.

Unfortunately, the food was too expensive and the portions were small. The pork medallions were dry and the fried potatoes tasted okay, but they were way too small for the money.

The beer garden is tucked away in the courtyard and is a great place to linger. The service was extremely friendly and attentive, and you immediately felt at home. The food is also delicious; my Kaiserschmarrn was fluffy, freshly prepared, and highly recommended.

Well done at first glance Hair in the food... When asked further why there's no sweet mustard with the Leberkäse, the answer was: You could have ordered it... And the hair (between the Leberkäse and the fried egg, by the way): Well, they just fall out, the beasts. We canceled. We have photo evidence, but you can't post it. Rude - that's not how I learned service and gastronomy... Guess they don't need to think a bit more guest-oriented.

However, the chocolate cake was super delicious!

It's a classic brewery with good food and excellent service. When the weather's nice, a visit to the beer garden in the Innhof is worthwhile.

The food was okay, nothing special. The service was inattentive but very friendly. The fried potatoes were very soggy. The espresso could have been hotter. Overall, everything was okay.

It tasted great. A beautiful location. Unfortunately, it took quite a while, even for the drinks to arrive. But that might have just been the case on that day.

I highly recommend it. In my opinion, one of the best places in Bielefeld. I would go there again and again for food and beer.

The acoustics in the basement are very poor even when the crowd is full. You can barely hear your own voice. Of course, everyone's taste is different. I've definitely had much better knuckle of pork with dumplings and sauerkraut – I wouldn't order it here again. The roast was also semi-rare. One piece of meat was okay, the second was very dry, and the crusts seemed to be spicy pieces of roasted fat. I wouldn't go back.

I ordered a spaetzle pan with red onions, figs, apricots, pears, and pink peppercorns. A dish from the lunch menu. The spaetzle were far too soft and mushy. The (less) fruit oxidized with the bottom of the iron pan and took on the iron flavor. A chef should be aware of the effects of fruit acid in iron pans... The peppercorns were perfect for choking on. They were dry as a bone, there was far too much of them, and the skins were peeling off... the kitchen ignored all the basic rules of cooking regarding cooking time, reaction, and mouthfeel. The beer was delicious, the service very good, but it was also solely responsible for many tables.

We celebrated our wedding there. The team was very good and flexible. They fulfilled all of our wishes as best they could.

And the food? Really good. Hearty, classic cuisine with flavor – just what you'd expect when you hear "Bavarian." Everything is just right here: service, food, and ambiance. My husband and I ordered asparagus, which was unfortunately too firm for us at first. The waitress asked if everything was okay, and we told her. She immediately said it wasn't a problem; the asparagus could be recooked in the kitchen. After a while, we got our plates again with a fresh, warm sauce, and the asparagus was perfect for us. The restaurant itself is also beautifully decorated; you can spend a very pleasant evening there. We'd be happy to go back anytime.

I had the homemade pretzel dumplings with asparagus, which were absolutely delicious! The Hofbräu is modern, chic, and tastefully decorated. A ballroom for kings – and all those who aspire to be one! While the whole of Bielefeld was packed together to watch the DFB Cup final either at the Berlin Olympic Stadium or at the Hofbräuhaus, we enjoyed an evening in the Hofbräuhaus's ballroom that made us feel a little like the city's crowned heads. A long table, comfortable chairs, and an atmosphere that promised a royal feast – and delivered! The service? Majestic. You'd think the waitress had made a secret pact with our drinking mood. Before we even realized our glass was empty, the next one was ready. That's not just service, that's fortune-telling on a liquid basis. The result? Some of us went home slightly unsteady, but extremely happy – a quality feature that is second to none. The food? Delicious. From pretzels to knuckle of pork, everything was perfectly prepared and made our taste buds yodel. The location itself: simply a dream. Who wants to watch a game on the couch when you can dine like a king? The only downside: Now we have to keep coming back. But who wants to stop being the king or queen of Bielefeld?
