To1980 VEGAN - Vietnamese Street Food in Düsseldorf

I went there twice, and the food was very dry. The service was completely unacceptable for those with food intolerances. Disappointing.

It was our first time here and we weren't disappointed. Even meat eaters ;-) will find something to their liking. The food is fresh and high-quality, just as you'd expect. The flavors aren't bland and the combination is quite interesting. The service was perfectly fine and the atmosphere is pleasant, centrally located in the city yet relatively quiet, so you can easily have a conversation.

The food was delicious, and there was a great selection of vegan options. The service could have been friendlier; for example, we weren't asked how we liked the food or if we wanted anything else. Furthermore, it's unacceptable these days to only accept cash, especially in a big city.

The food was disappointing; I had a soup with a kind of udon noodle. The soup didn't really taste like anything, but it was very greasy, and the noodles were kind of crumbly/dry. I won't be coming back.

I had a very tasty (fake) chicken dish; the rice and vegetables with peanut sauce were also excellent. I'd gladly come again. Prices were reasonable.

The restaurant was half full at 1:30 p.m. When I entered alone, I was immediately shown to a table, but no one came to take my order for a while. I had the vegetarian pho, but the soup tasted too artificial for my liking. The vegetables were a bit tough, which might suit those who prefer to enjoy the natural taste of the ingredients. The spring rolls appeared to be frozen, and I lost my appetite after finding what looked like gray hair in them. It made me feel quite uncomfortable.

The food tastes very good. The restaurant itself is small and feels quite cramped. The chairs and tables are made of plastic. They're easy to wipe clean, but they don't look very nice. If you can overlook that, you'll really enjoy the food.

Delicious and varied food, lovingly and attractively presented. Very friendly service staff. Food was served promptly. One point deducted for the ambiance due to the wobbly plastic chairs and table. Otherwise, really good. We enjoyed the food very much, would gladly return, highly recommended.

We've been eating here regularly for four years and have never been disappointed! Everything is beautifully presented, fresh, and delicious. My recommendations: the Nem Ha Noi spring rolls, the Flamingo Bowl, or one of the Pho variations, and one of the teas, or Red Hope! 10/10

I've eaten here a few times now. The best thing is that you can order any dish without worry because everything here is vegan 🌱. All the food so far has been delicious and beautifully presented. The staff are always very friendly. We haven't had to wait for a seat yet. Orders are processed very quickly and the wait hardly exceeds 10 minutes (at least for us), and what I love so much is that the food is served piping hot. There's plenty of space, although it's a bit tight in some places, and some tables have stools without backrests (which I/we personally like).

The food was delicious, and so were the drinks. We'd love to come back.

Vietnamese is different from other Asian restaurants. To1980 also distinguishes itself by serving only vegan dishes. And this is top quality with consistently friendly service. Simply good.

Tried TO1980 for vegan Vietnamese food and honestly — I wish our tummies could have tried every single dish, it was that good! We ordered the Goi Du Du (papaya salad) and Gyoza, and both were bursting with fresh flavours and beautifully presented amongst 1-2 others. The ambience is modern and relaxing, the staff are warm and attentive and the food is full of authentic Vietnamese taste with a plant-based twist. If you love flavoursome vegan food, this place is a must-visit.

One of the best vegan restaurants I've ever been to

I love the small bowls. You can try a little of everything here, and it's really excellent every time. The prices are insane. And I don't mean that in a good way. When you order, you pay €7.90 for the small bowls. Which I sometimes find quite steep for such small bites. Nevertheless, I order again every time because I only remember the great taste and not my frustration when I look at the bill. So you can turn a blind eye to that. I'll still come back here again and complain about the prices afterwards. My recommendations are the bao burger, the tofu sticks, and the summer rolls.

Very friendly staff and delicious food

We went here because of the excellent reviews on Google, but were extremely disappointed. We all ordered the Bun Thron with spring rolls and found them simply inedible. The noodles tasted like nothing, and if we weren't hungry, we wouldn't have finished eating them. And unfortunately, there was a hair in my meal... The only positive thing: The food came really quickly! Unfortunately, this was our first and last visit there.

South East Asian food that is vegan, how awesome is that. What is even better is that they do it well - I ordered a red coconut curry rice with tofu and was impressed with how fresh and tender the tofu was. And it had an array of atleast 7 different veggies in it. Nutritious and super tasty. The lady who served me was super nice and also topped my ginger mint tea with another round of hot water. Recommend it even for a non-vegan

Unfortunately, I can't agree with the many positive reviews; this was probably the worst vegan Asian restaurant I've ever been to. The restaurant itself was really cute, and the staff was friendly, but unfortunately, they didn't accommodate my requests. I ordered the Bun Tron, and there was no sign of the cucumbers, sprouts, or carrots advertised. The tofu wasn't marinated as advertised either. The extra duck for €2 cost €5, and my request for no peanuts and fried onions was unfortunately completely ignored. I thought the drinks were great and had cute decorations, too. Never again

We visited this restaurant during the week at lunchtime and were eventually assigned a table at the same time. From the service to the food, everything was outstanding. The bowls were very fresh and extremely delicious. We'd gladly go back!

The food was extremely good, definitely would have wanted to come again if the service was also good. But service has improvement space. The waitress is rushing too much. When ordering, she didn’t even let me finish ordering before rushing to my friend. When I reminded her that I still want to order some desserts, she refused to order? I really didn’t get this point. Why I had to call her again after finishing main course to order dessert, instead of just ordering everything together but just serve the dessert later? So far it was alright, just tiny things. But then my friend asked for her recommendation to choose between two dishes, she was way too impatient to my friend and didn’t give much information. It could be so much better if she knew which dish is better sold and just give a clear recommendation, instead of repeating “they are totally different dishes” when guests asking for a recommendation.

I tried the combo lunch menu with the "Exotic Love" drink today and was absolutely thrilled. The food not only tasted excellent, but was also presented in perfect portions. The "Exotic Love" added a wonderfully sweet touch to the savory meal – a brilliant combination! The staff was super friendly and the atmosphere very inviting. I felt completely at home.

My last visit here was once again delicious and lovely! The cocktails were well-prepared and refreshing, and the food not only tasted fantastic but was also beautifully presented.☺️ Unfortunately, making a reservation beforehand was an unpleasant experience, although the first meal here and ordering via Uber Eats were both problem-free and great! So, my sister and best friend gave To1980 Vegan another chance and were not disappointed.😊

So far, everything has always been perfect: the food, the super-friendly and welcoming staff, the atmosphere. I've never had any problems there with my celiac disease, but unfortunately, I haven't had that level of security everywhere. For me, as a meat eater, this is the perfect alternative if you want to eat vegan. You can order absolutely anything, and it tastes great. The prices are great, and the service is excellent. There are two other shops on Nordstraße and 500 meters further across from the Savoy.

Admittedly, I'm the type who only writes reviews when something is bad. But To1980 Vegan makes me an exception. From the quiet (despite being right on the busy Immermannstraße) slightly Asian-inspired ambiance, to the friendly and relaxed yet professional service, to the authentic and diverse culinary offerings, including various homemade drinks, it's always something special to eat here. I'd actually like to give it 6 stars.

We had a wonderful evening here with incredibly authentic, delicious, and comforting food. To1980 VEGAN – Between Black Rice and a Quiet Smile We barely had time – just a window, as narrow as the gap between two breaths in the hustle and bustle of Düsseldorf. And then: To1980 VEGAN. A place that doesn't advertise itself, but simply exists, like a good friend who's already ordered. The bowl we shared wasn't a meal – it was a poem that ate itself. Sia chua nep cam, black rice, yogurt like from a better future, mango in two states of matter – fresh and as a chia metamorphosis – and then this mint, as if it had a doctorate in freshness. Edamame? Of course. Texture with attitude. We were served by two people who didn't just "serve," but created a scene, without theatrical fuss: a young woman and a young man – both bright-minded, light-hearted, without the artificial hustle and bustle that usually creeps through restaurant settings. You could tell: They know why they're there. And that's enough. A place like a well-curated song – short on time, but long on echo.

As vegans and fans of Asian cuisine, we've been to T01980vegan several times and have always been very satisfied. However, so far, we've only been to the branch on Collenbachstraße. All the dishes there were excellent and the staff were really friendly. Top-notch! T01980vegan on Immermannstraße, on the other hand, seems to be more focused on mass processing without quality service. A phone reservation wasn't possible yesterday. We were told to come by and be assigned a seat. The terrace was quite full, but there were free tables – oddly enough, with reserved signs. We were directed to the reception, where the staff seemed completely annoyed, one hand apparently not knowing what the other was doing. After some back and forth, we were allowed to sit at a suitable table that had just become available. Instead of a greeting, the waitress in charge informed us in an unfriendly tone that the seats were actually reserved for other guests – but that we could stay there "for now." Excuse me, what was that? We hope this was an exception. However, we unfortunately can't currently recommend T01980vegan on Immermannstraße for a relaxed dinner—especially compared to the much more pleasant atmosphere on Collenbachstraße. It's a real shame.

Even as a non-vegan, I was very satisfied with the lunch here. We had three different bowls, and the Flamingo bowl was the best.

During my visit to your restaurant, I experienced discriminatory behavior. The rude behavior of some employees was extremely disgraceful. I would like to draw management's attention to the urgent need for better staff training and management.

I chose the Flamingo Bowl. It was incredibly delicious! So many different components, and each one tasted great, especially the mushrooms and the fried tofu with the raspberry sauce.

As an authentic Vietnamese, I unfortunately find that the dishes here aren't truly Vietnamese, but rather generically Asian. Even the menu items are misspelled, which is a real red flag haha. Nice try, but once you experience how delicious authentic Vietnamese cuisine is, you probably won't come here again.

We stopped here spontaneously for dinner because all the other restaurants on Immermannstraße had huge lines outside, and we didn't feel like standing in line after a long day of shopping. The place was also incredibly busy, but we got a seat right away. The food was delicious (all vegan), but it took almost an hour (I think that was due to the fact that it was a Saturday evening and very busy). I would come again.

Have been here twice .not the best taste for vegan/vegetarian. Could do better to motivate those who are sceptical about vegan food otherwise people continue to think tofu or soy based food does doesn’t taste as well as meat. Food : depends what you ordered : in general all small Bowles are very small portion of starters , proce not proportional appropriate to the main . For the main : I would only go for the fried Tofu. Both marinated tofu and vegan ducks are not delicious and taste very plain . The bowls look nice though more for the eyes than Gaumen Especially the vegan ducks were very disappointed, as I expected better soy based du js like I have in Chinese cuisine Flamingo Bowie : sauce is not tasty , noodle too soft To special : like the peanut coconut sauce as usual The fried tofu is better than the vegan ducks which have a weird taste Dessert: Sticky rice is not really sticky , no comparison to the Thai or Chinese sticky rice in Thailand and China local So overall the food is not the best motivation for people are sceptical of vegetarian/ vegan like my German in laws and partner . We visited To1980 for the first time today... and we were thrilled. We had a variety of appetizers and bowls, and we really enjoyed them. There were also plenty of dishes for our six-year-old that were savory but not spicy; she also loved the sweet potato fries. The service was also very friendly, and the wait time was also good to very good. I'm already looking forward to the next visit 🙂

An absolute highlight for anyone who loves vegan food! It was my first time at To1980 VEGAN – and definitely not my last! The food was not only visually stunning, but also tasted absolutely fantastic. Fresh, aromatic, lovingly prepared – and all completely vegan. I was particularly impressed by the summer rolls and bowls – so many fresh ingredients, great sauces, and perfectly balanced flavors. The selection is also incredibly varied, from light snacks to filling main courses. The atmosphere in the shop is modern, cozy, and yet somehow authentically Vietnamese – you immediately feel at home. The staff was friendly and quick, despite the busy shop. If you're looking for good vegan Vietnamese street food in Düsseldorf, this is the place to be. A definite recommendation!

I've visited three times since 1980. It was always busy each time. Despite the crowds, the staff always helped me get a table. The service was generally positive. It only gets four stars because twice my order was taken slightly incorrectly, but everything was always quickly resolved. The most important thing, of course, is the food. If you specifically want vegan Vietnamese food and you're in the area, I'd recommend it. If you're wondering, I'd drive there extra minutes for the meal... you'll be disappointed. The sauces are simple, lacking complex flavors. The seasonings are the same. Perhaps they're trying to make it particularly mild and appealing to the masses. The tofu isn't marinated for long or processed in any special way. This phenomenon applies to all the dishes... you'll hardly find any authentic taste... and it's not cheap either. The atmosphere in the suburbs is okay... a bit noisy at times, as virtually every seat has a seat. Sometimes the tables are so close together and next to the heater that you can hear every word the other people say and you no longer have a "normal" seat but are squeezed in.. does not apply to all tables but is something to be taken into account

Delicious vegan food with a compromise on the outdoor ambiance I went vegan for the first time at to1980, even though I'm not vegan myself, and was pleasantly surprised by the food! The Asian burger piqued my interest, but unfortunately, it was stacked so high that I couldn't bite into it and had to cut it – a minor negative point for that. The summer rolls as an appetizer were fantastic, and the non-alcoholic cocktails/juices were also delicious. The sticky rice for dessert was absolutely amazing! Unfortunately, I have to strongly criticize the outdoor ambiance. We sat in the front row on a weekday summer evening, and unfortunately, beggars or homeless people came to our table at least ten times. There was also an overturned dumpster just a few meters away, which isn't the restaurant's fault, but the staff unfortunately didn't keep the homeless people away from the tables either. I found that very unpleasant. For this reason, I personally wouldn't visit this branch of the chain again, or at least would only want to sit inside. It's a shame because the food was really excellent!

Delicious food, cosy environment and nice service! Something I loved is that the entire restaurant felt Asian, the environment with Asian music and all, felt casual and chill but in a very authentic way.

We ate there with a large group (12 people), and everything went very smoothly. Especially on weekends with large events, I would always recommend making a reservation well in advance and informing the restaurant if there are any changes in the number of guests. The service was very good and professional, even though it was really busy. Keeping track of everyone in such a large group, especially when unexpected people arrive and you have to relocate, is no easy task. One dish had to be reordered, but otherwise everything was perfect. The food was, as always, delicious. I highly recommend the sesame duck on the Flamingo Bowl. My favorite drink is the Soda Galaxy, and the Vietnamese coffee is also very good.

A truly lovely Vietnamese restaurant with cozy, tasteful decor and very friendly staff. Even in stressful situations, the employees remain calm and courteous, something you unfortunately rarely see these days. The cuisine is entirely vegan, but that's not a disadvantage at all – quite the opposite! The dishes are exquisitely balanced, and the flavors harmonize perfectly. You immediately notice that the food is cooked with love and experience. Despite a full house, the food arrived quickly, was fresh, and incredibly delicious. If you hadn't known, you might have thought it was an excellently prepared duck or other specialty, but it was all purely plant-based! A huge thank you for the great service and the fantastic food. We'll definitely be back!
