To1980 VEGAN - Vietnamese Street Food in Düsseldorf

As an authentic Vietnamese, I unfortunately find that the dishes here aren't truly Vietnamese, but rather generically Asian. Even the menu items are misspelled, which is a real red flag haha. Nice try, but once you experience how delicious authentic Vietnamese cuisine is, you probably won't come here again.

We ate there on a recommendation because we were looking for a vegetarian/vegan restaurant, and we were not disappointed. It was so delicious. It's a shame we were only in Düsseldorf for the weekend. If we're ever there again, this will be our first stop.

We stopped here spontaneously for dinner because all the other restaurants on Immermannstraße had huge lines outside, and we didn't feel like standing in line after a long day of shopping. The place was also incredibly busy, but we got a seat right away. The food was delicious (all vegan), but it took almost an hour (I think that was due to the fact that it was a Saturday evening and very busy). I would come again.

We visited To1980 for the first time today... and we were thrilled. We had a variety of appetizers and bowls, and we really enjoyed them. There were also plenty of dishes for our six-year-old that were savory but not spicy; she also loved the sweet potato fries. The service was also very friendly, and the wait time was also good to very good. I'm already looking forward to the next visit 🙂

Have been here twice .not the best taste for vegan/vegetarian. Could do better to motivate those who are sceptical about vegan food otherwise people continue to think tofu or soy based food does doesn’t taste as well as meat. Food : depends what you ordered : in general all small Bowles are very small portion of starters , proce not proportional appropriate to the main . For the main : I would only go for the fried Tofu. Both marinated tofu and vegan ducks are not delicious and taste very plain . The bowls look nice though more for the eyes than Gaumen Especially the vegan ducks were very disappointed, as I expected better soy based du js like I have in Chinese cuisine Flamingo Bowie : sauce is not tasty , noodle too soft To special : like the peanut coconut sauce as usual The fried tofu is better than the vegan ducks which have a weird taste Dessert: Sticky rice is not really sticky , no comparison to the Thai or Chinese sticky rice in Thailand and China local So overall the food is not the best motivation for people are sceptical of vegetarian/ vegan like my German in laws and partner . It can be done better to make the vegetarian lifestyle more attractive!! Price for main is reasonable , big portions Drinks too sweet The atmosphere is nice .

An absolute highlight for anyone who loves vegan food! It was my first time at To1980 VEGAN – and definitely not my last! The food was not only visually stunning, but also tasted absolutely fantastic. Fresh, aromatic, lovingly prepared – and all completely vegan. I was particularly impressed by the summer rolls and bowls – so many fresh ingredients, great sauces, and perfectly balanced flavors. The selection is also incredibly varied, from light snacks to filling main courses. The atmosphere in the shop is modern, cozy, and yet somehow authentically Vietnamese – you immediately feel at home. The staff was friendly and quick, despite the busy shop. If you're looking for good vegan Vietnamese street food in Düsseldorf, this is the place to be. A definite recommendation!

I've visited three times since 1980. It was always busy each time. Despite the crowds, the staff always helped me get a table. The service was generally positive. It only gets four stars because twice my order was taken slightly incorrectly, but everything was always quickly resolved. The most important thing, of course, is the food. If you specifically want vegan Vietnamese food and you're in the area, I'd recommend it. If you're wondering, I'd drive there extra minutes for the meal... you'll be disappointed. The sauces are simple, lacking complex flavors. The seasonings are the same. Perhaps they're trying to make it particularly mild and appealing to the masses. The tofu isn't marinated for long or processed in any special way. This phenomenon applies to all the dishes... you'll hardly find any authentic taste... and it's not cheap either. The atmosphere in the suburbs is okay... a bit noisy at times, as virtually every seat has a seat. Sometimes the tables are so close together and next to the heater that you can hear every word the other people say and you no longer have a "normal" seat but are squeezed in.. does not apply to all tables but is something to be taken into account

It was absolutely delicious here, and everything was vegan—a dream. We'd love to come back!

Super delicious vegan food, the staff are super friendly, and the food comes quickly. The prices are also good for what you get, and I highly recommend it.

Delicious vegan food with a compromise on the outdoor ambiance I went vegan for the first time at to1980, even though I'm not vegan myself, and was pleasantly surprised by the food! The Asian burger piqued my interest, but unfortunately, it was stacked so high that I couldn't bite into it and had to cut it – a minor negative point for that. The summer rolls as an appetizer were fantastic, and the non-alcoholic cocktails/juices were also delicious. The sticky rice for dessert was absolutely amazing! Unfortunately, I have to strongly criticize the outdoor ambiance. We sat in the front row on a weekday summer evening, and unfortunately, beggars or homeless people came to our table at least ten times. There was also an overturned dumpster just a few meters away, which isn't the restaurant's fault, but the staff unfortunately didn't keep the homeless people away from the tables either. I found that very unpleasant. For this reason, I personally wouldn't visit this branch of the chain again, or at least would only want to sit inside. It's a shame because the food was really excellent!

There's a huge selection and the food is simply fantastic, but unfortunately there are long waits for the food, but it's worth it! :)

Delicious food, cosy environment and nice service! Something I loved is that the entire restaurant felt Asian, the environment with Asian music and all, felt casual and chill but in a very authentic way.

We ate there with a large group (12 people), and everything went very smoothly. Especially on weekends with large events, I would always recommend making a reservation well in advance and informing the restaurant if there are any changes in the number of guests. The service was very good and professional, even though it was really busy. Keeping track of everyone in such a large group, especially when unexpected people arrive and you have to relocate, is no easy task. One dish had to be reordered, but otherwise everything was perfect. The food was, as always, delicious. I highly recommend the sesame duck on the Flamingo Bowl. My favorite drink is the Soda Galaxy, and the Vietnamese coffee is also very good.

A truly lovely Vietnamese restaurant with cozy, tasteful decor and very friendly staff. Even in stressful situations, the employees remain calm and courteous, something you unfortunately rarely see these days. The cuisine is entirely vegan, but that's not a disadvantage at all – quite the opposite! The dishes are exquisitely balanced, and the flavors harmonize perfectly. You immediately notice that the food is cooked with love and experience. Despite a full house, the food arrived quickly, was fresh, and incredibly delicious. If you hadn't known, you might have thought it was an excellently prepared duck or other specialty, but it was all purely plant-based! A huge thank you for the great service and the fantastic food. We'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. The spring rolls were practically empty and tasted like bland dough. The sauce for the main course was also very bland. The vegetables I had were almost entirely raw onions, but there were so many of them that I had to pick them out. The vegan beef was delicious. The service was fast but not very friendly. There was a lot of confusion at the end when it came to billing because the dishes in the system didn't match the ones ordered. There seem to be only stools inside, which I found very uncomfortable. Perhaps it's better on less busy days.

I was there on Japan Day. The food is fantastic, and I especially recommend a visit to those who follow a plant-based diet.

Maybe we were just having a bad day, but the food on our first visit was unfortunately not good at all. The salads were no longer fresh, and my partner's sauces were unfortunately very mixed together and not very tasty. My meal was a complete disappointment for me: very salty and tasted more like bland, reheated cafeteria food. We often go for vegan Vietnamese food, and unfortunately, the usual explosion of flavor was missing here. However, the drinks were delicious, the staff were super friendly, and the atmosphere was great.

I ordered takeaway there, and the staff was still very friendly. That's quite rare, especially with takeaway orders! Highly recommended

The food is excellent, and the price for the main courses (May 2025: €13.90) is also perfectly reasonable. I find the starters (€6.90) and drinks a bit overpriced in comparison, but still delicious. In summer, you can almost always find a table thanks to the outdoor seating. In winter, you may have to expect a bit of a wait. Unfortunately, card payments were never accepted on our last visits. So, you should always have enough cash with you.

I really enjoy going here, the food is always delicious and well seasoned. The portion sizes are a bit too big for me, but it's ideal for most people I've had so far. I would just like to briefly point out for tall people that the tables are comparatively small and relatively narrow.

The food selection is small, but that doesn't detract from the restaurant, as the dishes offered are authentic and good. The prices are also great, but drinks, like in any restaurant, are expensive. For me, most of the meat alternatives taste okay to floury; the vegan beef in my soup was good. And the rest was well-seasoned and perfectly balanced. Most of the dishes contain meat alternatives. I could also imagine eating them without the processed meat alternatives. The spring rolls, which we received as a free treat, were very nice.

Very courteous, friendly and fast service, which allowed us to move flexibly even after a while. The food was really great - tasted great and the price was right too. I can only recommend it for both vegans and non-vegans. How nice it is that there are restaurants like this where you can order anything without hesitation and know for sure that it is vegan without having to read every detail on the menu.

The taste was very delicious. I had the Bao Burger. For me personally, it was a bit small. I would have expected more sweet potatoes. I chose the vegan chicken version. I don't think the term "chicken" is appropriate. The burger with a Coke cost about 18 euros. Unfortunately, the service wasn't perfect. The waiters should have realized that there were only three menu items for four people. They completely ignored this. They also regularly didn't check whether you wanted to order anything else, pay, etc.

Quite a nice restaurant if you're in the mood for Asian-inspired and vegan cuisine. The smaller bowls are definitely the better choice as they are more varied, better seasoned and a little more authentic. However, they have more of a Vietnamese touch rather than classic Vietnamese. If you're looking for authentic cuisine, you've come to the wrong place. Unfortunately, the large bowls often all taste the same and are swimming in sauce. If that doesn't bother you and you want to spend a cheaper evening, I would recommend these. Personally, I think the smaller ones are much better. The non-alcoholic cocktails are very tasty, but the ones with alcohol are much too strong. You can really only taste alcohol, which is unfortunately inedible. Service is in most cases friendly, but very distant. The ambience inside is definitely more comfortable, but it doesn't invite you to linger for long. Unfortunately, the experience outside is marred by some people who beg you for money and sometimes insult you if you don't give anything. Of course, the latter rarely happens. But if you don't feel like that, you should sit inside. Some of the cards are a bit torn, have pages missing and are generally in a sad condition. Overall, the restaurant is a great experience, especially for vegans, as there is a wide selection. However, it doesn't invite you to linger for a long time.

Amazing. The restaurant is busy (you're best off making a reservation to be sure), and once you sit down you'll absolutely understand why. The food is delicious, flavoured and textured perfectly, and the drinks are incredible. The staff is super friendly and despite the busy-ness, not pushy or anything. Absolutely will eat here again when visiting Düsseldorf in the future!

The Bao citizen was rock hard, the drink was a joke and the price was way too expensive. The service wasn't polite either.

If you reserve a table the day before, you as a guest expect to be assigned a comfortable seat, after all, you trust the restaurant with your planning. Instead, getting the worst place, right between the exit door and the hallway, where it's drafty and cold, isn't an option. Hospitality looks different. Thanks, but that was my last visit.

I was completely impressed by the vegetarian restaurant - great location, pleasant atmosphere and the food was simply delicious and perfectly balanced in terms of taste. Even though I'm not a vegetarian myself, I wanted to try something new - and it was a complete success! The prices are also absolutely reasonable. I'll definitely come back.

I was there recently with my girlfriend because she is vegan. I don't know anything about it and put everything in it, but you absolutely need it to feel healthy. Yes, no, it's clear... I have to say it's decent and very good for vegan cuisine. Of course my girlfriend thought it was all really cool so I should post 5 stars everywhere here. So I can sleep peacefully tonight, please. But I also thought it was good.

Highly recommended for vegetarian, vegan diets. The price is very, very fair for what you get. The portions are very generous. The home-made drinks are also impressive. Great spot in Düsseldorf, we would like to visit again.

Very tasty food at a reasonable price. We were served friendly and quickly.

The food was great, we went a little late at lunchtime, there were still enough seats, but it was still relatively full and loud. The staff was great, friendly and the food came very quickly. The food was extremely tasty and the highlight of the visit, I would happily go there again. The prices were okay, but you're happy to pay a little more for the quality (of course, it's always better to pay less). But the tables were a bit wobbly and impractical, so we changed one table and it was just a little better.

Very tasty food, even as a non-vegan. We've been there several times now and can highly recommend it. It's always very busy. The only thing is that the chairs and stools aren't very inviting for comfortable seating.

Friendly staff, and three of us got a table quickly on a Friday evening, even without a reservation. The prices are really reasonable (okay, the drinks aren't). The food was really delicious. And it's great that the entire menu is vegan, so you don't have to worry about what you can and can't order. We'll be happy to come here often.

Este restaurante es una verdadera joya para cualquiera que ame la cocina vietnamita fresca, sabrosa y auténtica, completamente vegetal. El menú ofrece una gran variedad de platos, desde rollitos frescos de verano hasta sabrosos pho y crujientes banh xeo. Cada plato estaba muy bien presentado y lleno de gusto. Los ingredientes eran frescos y los sabores estaban bien equilibrados con la mezcla perfecta de hierbas y especias. El ambiente es acogedor y vibrante.

Amazing vegan food. The homemade drinks, food and desserts were delicious. Busy, so sometimes a bit of a longer wait, but the staff was very friendly.

The presentation and taste were okay but not what we expected given the name of the restaurant. Unfortunately, the dishes have little or nothing to do with authentic Vietnamese vegan food. Anyone who has been to Vietnam and hopes to get a hit in terms of taste, ingredients and presentation will unfortunately be disappointed. Unfortunately, the dishes have been adapted more to the German palate and the trend towards bowls.

No authentic cuisine. After the soup, which mostly contained cheap ingredients, I was extremely thirsty, which suggests that a lot of glutamate was used. I've eaten much better.

The taste of food was not good. I regularly eat asian food but this was quite not upto the mark. Although I am quite surprised to see 4.5 stars overall...

I didn't like it. I've been to Vietnam myself and have eaten a lot of Asian food, but I don't know what kind of cuisine this is, but it's definitely not Vietnamese. The food tastes bland and stale, the rice is a bit too soft and I miss the fresh herbs. Unfortunately, there is nothing authentically Vietnamese about the dishes.

The food was very tasty, the restaurant itself was a little uncomfortable because of the stools and it was also quite cold. The waiters weren't that friendly, rather neutral and distant. That's why the ambience isn't that special

Unfortunately, I don't understand the enthusiastic reviews at all. The prices are way too high for what you get in the end. The large bowl I had was half filled with lettuce leaves and unfortunately it wasn't really filling. But the whole thing cost 15.90 euros. The two tofu skewers with satay sauce ended up being more batter and breading than tofu. In my opinion, there are definitely cheaper and tastier Vietnamese vegan options in Düsseldorf! Unfortunately I won't eat here again.

My favorite restaurant! So many delicious dishes and a lot to choose from. The vegan alternatives and the sauces are great and very well seasoned. I can only recommend the summer rolls and the teas!!

A small restaurant with a lively outside seating area. The ambience is calm and good. The food was fine. It is worth trying once and the small bowls are good for quick hunger. Both our bowls were good. The service is quick and friendly. A nice place for quick hunger Vietnamese finger food. They do have bigger portions too but small bowls are worth trying.

The Food was okay, a little bland and didn’t really meet my expectations. I was a little disappointed. Though the portions are really good. The tea was good. The service was a no for me, the lady that served me was a bit rude and acted as if she didn’t want to help me and was being forced to. And even the people I was sitting next to also commented on her services and that’s she’s not kind and is rude. Her approach to customers was very cold and distant.

Love love love the tofu sticks, the gyoza and the peanut sauce. They also make a delicious passion fruit aperol spritz drink!

One of my favorite restaurants in Düsseldorf! All my friends (even those who are not vegan) are enthusiastic about the restaurant. Everything just tastes fantastic. I prefer to eat the starters because then you can share a lot of things. A bit like Anti Pasti, only in Vietnamese ;-) Big recommendation! Sitting outside in summer is a dream. The shop is cute, but the tables inside can feel very cramped (when it's full). Parking options are very limited in the middle of the Japan Quarter and are definitely subject to a charge. But the location is still GREAT.

Great little restaurant near the main train station! The vegan dishes were all really delicious! A recommendation even if you’re not vegan. Personally, I was still missing a little something in terms of taste. Otherwise still delicious!
