To1980 - Vietnamese Street Food in Düsseldorf

Delicious food, quite a large selection, but a bit too expensive for me given the fairly simple atmosphere. Sure it's called street food, but in my opinion the prices don't really suit that. In general it is rather more expensive, even for vegan dishes with tofu, as well as for starters. The service was friendly and attentive, unfortunately payment was not possible with all credit cards.

Very delicious food. We really enjoyed the duck number 20, and the beer was freshly tapped. The service was very friendly; thank you for the pleasant conversation!

Regarding the food I got nothing to criticize but in one starter was a hair. Furthermore at some point the musics bass was a bit to loud. The rest was perfect, thank you and see you soon!

We'd love to come back! I was at To1980 with another person around 7:30 p.m. on a Friday, and we were initially very happy that, although the restaurant and outdoor area were quite full, we still managed to find a spot for the two of us. In general, it's commendable that they offer plenty of tables where you can sit and eat. We were very impressed with the appetizer platter and the bao bun burger. We highly recommend the passion fruit drink. It's delicious! All the waiters were super friendly and accommodating, and the food was served quickly. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

I ate here with my aunt and uncle on Saturday and had a fantastic time in a super sunny spot. Thank you for the delicious food and especially for the super friendly service, Mr. Kai. 10 out of 10 stars. The Thai and mango curry with duck also earned 10 out of 10 stars, delicious and highly recommended.

It was super full, but we still got a table quickly. You didn't have to wait long. Service was polite and attentive despite the stress. Gladly again 👌🏾🥘👏🏾

Wow! We've really never experienced anything like this! ✅ Outrageous service ✅ Child-unfriendly ✅ Dry & tasteless We came around lunchtime because of the good reviews. We sat down at a table next to a full wine rack. The waiter came and said: “Haha right by the wine rack, it’s Saturday so you drink during the day, the Germans just have a drinking culture anyway!” We smiled and were a bit irritated. First we ordered summer rolls and two juice spritzers. We were visibly stressed because we weren't offered a high chair and our 2-year-old son could of course only sit on our lap. The summer rolls were the worst we've ever had! A few rice noodles, lolorosso salad, mint and then the crowning glory: chicken breast slices from the package! The bone-dry summer rolls were then cut open and standing in the sauce so you had to eat them with cutlery and everything fell apart. Due to the outrageous service, we told the waiter that we would no longer order a main course with our son, as there apparently was no high chair for a relaxed meal here. The waiter's comment: "Aha hahah, all right, I'll remember when I have 5 children that I can only eat starters and then leave." Unbelievable... how rude you can be towards your guests with such quality food... ABSOLUTELY NO RECOMMENDATION! Neither in terms of taste nor in terms of ambience.

A great restaurant, cozy and nicely decorated. The waitresses are quick and very friendly. The food was great. Absolutely fresh and tasteful. The summer rolls and dim sum are highly recommended. Plus, the To Mango Curry is simply fantastic. Likewise the cocktails. The desserts are delicious but definitely a matter of taste. The To1980 is highly recommended.

A nice restaurant with terrible food - a disgrace to call it Vietnamese food when the food resembles no original taste. We ordered 4-5 dishes and they tasted badly the same. It’s unarguably not fusion of, so just bad cook in general. Staff is slow and inattentive even the restaurant was not half full.

2-Star Review: Café 1980, Düsseldorf Café 1980 was a letdown. The tofu in the Buddha bowl was all over the place—too firm in some bites, too soft in others—and the sauce was nothing more than a generic, overly sweet sticky soy sauce. The veggies? Just two lettuce leaves. While technically edible, we couldn’t even bring ourselves to finish it. For a place with so much hype, the food lacked authenticity and creativity. It felt like another uninspired Vietnamese fusion spot in Germany, but without the bold, delicious flavors that make Vietnamese food special. The service was poor, and while the shop was packed, I can only assume it was an off night—or maybe just not for us. Eating here felt like how the interned Japanese must have felt at Manzanar—given just enough food to call it a meal but without any real care or thought put into it. The experience reminded me of descriptions of meals there, like Dole fruit syrup poured over rice as a “treat.” I’ll give them two stars for offering vegan and vegetarian options, but €65 for three appetizers and two entrées was way too steep for the quality. To top it off, the waiter hinting at a bigger tip—seemingly just because we’re American—wasn’t a great look. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Authentic, very tasty cuisine, it's best to try everything once! I can only recommend the soup with beef and rice noodles! It's best to reserve in advance as it can fill up quickly.

Chicken is raw and will not be taken back if I ask, should I still pay for the new dish, so they can definitely fool their customers. You have to give it to them

There was no allergy indication on the menu. They sprinkled a lot of peanut powder as a topping, but I don't know why they didn't mark it. Small bugs come out of vegetables that don't look fresh. The noodles are cold. I'm surprised that the rating is so high. The store is pretty.

Well-intentioned 2 stars because the service was nice. But unfortunately we were freezing there, then a door at the bar was open and cigarette smoke came in and the food: we had flying curry green, the menu says avocado, but unfortunately there was no avocado in it at all. The other dish, To Mango Curry, has fresh mango on the menu. Unfortunately we didn't find that either. Too bad 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm vegi and the vegi menu doesn't have much choice. There's oyster sauce in everything and you can't seem to leave it out. The waiter didn't really understand us either, I didn't find this very pleasant. The prices are also very high but the rest is not very right. I wouldn't come here again!

Unfortunately completely not flexible server, whole place is empty but we were not allowed to sit on the bench. We left immediately. In the past the service was muc better.

Here you can sit comfortably and feast on delicious Vietnamese food with a delicious drink. Lots of tables for two. But just having a stool or a bench to sit on makes it uncomfortable to sit in the long run. Many unusual dishes, such as flying noodles :)

The three of us were at To1980 this evening. The food and drinks tasted wonderful and were also reasonably priced by Düsseldorf standards. The service was also very friendly.

Food is so below the average and terrible service

Second time here this week whilst I visit Dusseldorf! Delicious Pho and Salad Rolls. The staff were friendly and attentive. The soup really good and filling and the salad rolls and dip to die for. 👌🏼

The smells are delicious the second you walk in! Thankfully lucked out on a table for 4 without booking on a Thursday night approx 7:45pm. Chairs slightly uncomfortable, decor a little kitsch. Menus delightfully had English translations. Non-alcoholic drinks (mocktails) seemed very thin and watered down, sadly, and for that price were a bit regrettable. However, the food was just sublime; excellent and flavourful starters followed by big fresh servings and generous meat portions. Definitely come hungry. All the service was very prompt, but only until the dishes were cleared away. We sat around for half an hour being ignored until we flagged someone down to ask about dessert then were left alone again so we stood up to go pay at the till. We thought we had seen another table pay at their table so we don’t know their payment arrangement. We left about 9:15 thinking we would love to come back for more of the food. Definitely recommend despite the hiccups.

Fantastic Vietnamese Restaurant! The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is incredibly friendly and the food is absolutely authentic. Every dish is freshly prepared and tastes great - the pho was to die for and the summer rolls were particularly delicious. We were particularly impressed by the attention to detail and the high quality of the ingredients. The portion sizes are generous and the prices are fair. If you love Vietnamese cuisine, you won't be disappointed here!

Luckily we had reservations because the rush was justified. The service is on point and our entire table loved the food. The portions are great, beautifully prepared and the taste is impressive.

Prices significantly higher than other Vietnamese. The noodles weren't completely cooked through, so I didn't eat them. Waitress asked that I pay tip.

We were here for the first time today and were very satisfied. The food was delicious, both vegetarian and meat, and the service was good. The restaurant is also very nicely decorated :) we always try out Asian restaurants in Düsseldorf and have... felt comfortable here. The only thing I could comment on is that the Msuik could possibly be a little quieter.
