I was only here for a drink. It was very busy, which led to longer wait times. The ambiance was too dark for me, but the decor is nice and typically Irish.

Polite staff Well poured drinks. And they are not offended by outside food in the outdoor seating. Most speak great English.

A rustic, charming, fine establishment—truly comforting. Had the good fortune of meeting Raymond (Ray) and had a great conversation. I think the best parts were the atmosphere and beer/alcohol selection. Unfortunately, you’re out of luck if you’re looking for a bite since there’s no kitchen, BUT the vibe is enough to fill your belly. I will definitely visit again and encourage others to do so as well. A small slice of sanity in an insane world.

Slightly tighter seating. If you want to cuddle, that's nice. The food is very good for the price offered and recommended. Service friendly and attentive.

One of my favorite Irish pubs. Live sport, delicious beer and very friendly staff. There is a pub quiz on Tuesday and Thursday.

Always worth a visit, especially for the pub quiz! We attend regularly and it's great every time. The atmosphere is good, the house is full, and the quizzes are usually fun. You can order food from nearby restaurants or even bring it with you and enjoy it on site. This makes the evening even more relaxed and varied. A great location with a pleasant atmosphere – we’ll be happy to come back again and again! 😊

After the Mainz Christmas market we celebrated there until the counters closed. First at the counter and later at the table. The beer was delicious and the service was courteous and very nice. An all-round successful evening.

Great English speaking staff and a fun place in the heart of Mainz. Ordering outside food is allowed and a refreshing policy. Getting a pint when it is super busy can be a challenge, but otherwise no complaints

The pub is well-located and doesn’t serve food, but you can bring your own or have it delivered, which is great—we always order pizzas and eat there. It has typical Irish decor, is spacious inside, and has outdoor seating. There are TVs for sports and a fun pub quiz. The staff, especially Piers, are very friendly. It's a great place to meet new people and have a good time.

This service is really bad, suddenly during the European Championships everyone only speaks English and the service is completely different. Please start organizing this store better!!!

It's a pub. Always friendly attentive service. Great pub atmosphere! For an American, it's awesome to go hear English and not feel so foreign. German spoken too so the locals are comfy there too. Go check it out, especially on Tuesday or Thursday, Trivia nights.

An Irish pub where a quiz night takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Some of the service only speaks English and that doesn't make it easy for everyone.

First remark: they don't offer food themselves (no kitchen I assume) but allow you to bring-in food. Many people were eating pizza, tacos, snacks, we liked that concept) They offer a great variety of beers (draught and bottle) and also cider. We came here for the pub quiz (which takes place every Tuesday and Thursday #startung at 8pm and lasts about 3 hours. Very fun, cool categories, a nice host. Solely the service could have been a little bit faster / better organized. That's all, they were friendly and attentive though.

We were there on a Saturday evening and it was a fun and boozy evening. Unfortunately we waited at times for 30 minutes for our Schobbe... Sorry, I'm not going with you... And I don't always want to have to order one in reserve... All in all you can do it but not recommended now...

A delightful traditional Irish bar in Mainz. The staff were all lovely. Pearse especially treated us like regulars and was a brilliant barman. We visited a few days during our stay at both very busy and calmer times. The atmosphere was always lovely. Friendly and welcoming.

One of the pubs I visited on St Patrick's Day. The decor here is probably the closest thing to an Irish pub. Rustic and lots of decoration. That evening the music was very poppy, classical party music, which I personally didn't like that much. The service was very friendly and attentive. As with every visit I have made, the pub was busy and we were lucky to get a seat.

There are many Irish pubs. I like to go there. Nice people - colorful mix from H4 to 1000k -, friendly service staff (even if you don't speak Irish). You can order pizza from your neighbor and eat it there. Otherwise: Guinness & Co., wine, hard drinks, cocktails, etc. It's not possible - just ask. Anyone who falls off their stool... will be helped.

Very friendly and fast service. Outside, in cold weather, you can turn on a heater next to any bench.

Was there yesterday with friends. I have to honestly say the service was super nice, personable and brought us the drinks we ordered promptly. Plus, she was always smiling. I've experienced it differently in other bars. Will definitely come back

Great pub. My favorite in Mainz. Awesome, friendly, and engaging staff. Traditional Irish bar selection of drinks, plus a few extras. No smoking inside, which is a total plus! Real homey atmosphere inside. No food menu, but you are allowed to order food from the surrounding food areas.

Leider stimmt die Online Seite nicht , hier gibt es kein Essen , auf Nachfrage und Hinweis auf die Online Seite kam die Aussage das die Seite schon seit 10 Jahren nicht gepflegt wird , man bekommt aber den Hinweis auf eine gute Pizzeria und dass man diese auch im Pub verspeisen darf

€6.20 for a pint of Guinness. It was only okay. Didn’t taste off. Just kind of ‘watery’ compared to the stuff back in Ireland.

Tolles Pub, das Quiz ist genial und gut organisiert

Ich mag die Atmosphäre hier. Total international! Echt cool. Fast alle möglichen Sportverstaltungen und ,vor allem durch britisches Sky, fast alle Fußballspiele können gezeigt werden. Bin froh hier auch ohne Reservierungen Fußball schauen zu können. Die aktuellen Bedienungen sind super, bei dem ein oder der anderen könnte man vielleicht sagen, dass sie das typische Pubfeeling rüber zu bringen, aber bemüht sind wirkliche alle und ein paar besondere und wirklich sehr gute Bedienungen gibt's hier zu finden. Leider nicht mehr überall der Fall. Weiter so🤗 Kann dem Vorredner mit der Fliege nicht zustimmen. Sobald mal was beim Drink nicht so war wie bestellt oder was am Glas war, wurde IMMER alles mögliche getan, um das zu korrigieren. Vielleicht sollte man als Gast sein Verhalten auch mal hinterfragen. Ne Fliege im Drink und nur ein Stern sind lächerlich. Ansonsten bringen wir immer unser eigenes Essen mit und wird auch von den Mitarbeitern entsorgt. Was will ich mehr? Kritik? Leider teuer geworden alles, wie die ganze Welt und vielleicht könnten Kneipenspiele angeschafft werden und wie früher wieder Sonderangebote, Studentnight oder andere Specials. Wir sind seit Jahren sehr gern hier

Sehr schönes Pub und das Kilkenny Bier schmeckt super. Ob es was zu essen gibt ist egal, wir waren zum trinken und Fußball schauen da. Mehr braucht das Männerherz doch eigentlich nicht!

Great place, good Craic I would highly recommend. Great points and great staff. While they don't serve food you can bring n what you want and Pizzeria Kiara is 2 minutes up the road and makes awesome woodfired pizza.

Klassischer Pub mit freundlichem Personal und nettem Biergarten. Essen gibt es hier nicht, es darf aber mitgebracht, bzw bei der Pizzeria nebenan bestellt werden.

Essen kann ich nicht bewerten da ich dort nichts verzehrt hatte

Alle Servicekräfte sprechen Englisch, obwohl sie Deutsch verstehen. Es gibt komische Umfragen und Getränke werden nicht gebracht. Wir würden einfach vergessen. Kann es nicht empfehlen, wenn man sich entspannt in einer Bar unterhalten möchte. Sehr unruhig.

Tolles Lokal, essen von nebenan ist auch erlaubt und die Stimmung ist auch gut. Jedoch keine Kartenzahlung, da bleibt halt leider weniger Bargeld für Trinkgeld übrig.

So an sich ein sehr tolles Ambiente vor allem für Studenten super atmosphäre. Kleines Manko, es ist ziemlich voll an Wochenenden.

Schöner, gemütlicher Irishpub mit viel Fußball und Quizabenden. Essen gibt es keines, man kann sich aber nebenan bei einem Pizzaimbiss eine Pizza bringen lassen. Dies wird auch häufig genutzt.

Stimmung eher Mittelmäßig. Musik technisch zu lahm. Bedienung und Service waren gut.

Was in Mainz for a few days near the end of my 2 week trip around Germany and was growing a little tired of the German beer, as nice as it is. I was in the mood for a friendly Irish pub, and some Guinness, and happened upon the Porter House. The ambience and atmosphere inside is great, and the Guinness is good. For that alone, I’d give it five stars. But after a couple pints, I was in the mood for something a little sweeter. I asked Pierce if he had any specialty cocktails or if he made a decent white Russian. He said he made a great white Russian. Of course I took that with a grain of salt. But when he produced the first one in front of me, I was extremely intrigued with the aesthetics of it and the presentation. I’m a little bit of a cocktail snob on certain drinks, but I have to say it is probably one of the nicest looking and best tasting white Russians that I’ve ever had…and in an Irish pub of all places!! What a great unexpected surprise! Notice I said when he produced "the first one"... I enjoyed more than one! 😜As odd as it may sound, visiting this pub for an amazing white Russian alone is well worth the visit if Pierce is bartending. Oh, and on that note, Pierce is probably one of the friendliest pub bartenders I’ve ever run across! But then again, he’s Irish, and the Irish ARE pretty damn friendly! 😉Well done, Pierce and Porter House!

Schöne stilechte Einrichtung und Stimmung Freundliche, aufmerksame und schnelle Bedienung. Leckere irische Biere und Whiskeys. 14.05.2023, noch immer keine kontaktlose Zahlung möglich.

Eher unterdurchschnittlicher Irish-Pup. Gerade mal Guinness und Kilkenny neben ein paar deutschen Bieren und eine solide Auswahl Standard-Whiskys (schottisch und irisch) zu fairen Preisen. Aber nichts zu essen oder zu knabbern (es wird aber erduldet, dass die Gäste aus der benachbarten Pizzeria Pizza holen oder gleich per Lieferservice bestellen). Leider auch keine gute irische Musik, sondern ein - vermutlich gut gemeintes - abendfüllendes Quiz, das aber mit Irland rein gar nichts zu tun hat. Der Laden wäre eigentlich echt gemütlich, gut eingerichtet und mit supernettem Personal, aber man könnte deutlich mehr daraus machen. Schade, aber es gibt bessere Irish Pubs.

Super nettes Personal verbreitet echt gute Stimmung. Die Einrichtung ist super und die Musik original. Haben das Quiz mitgemacht und verloren, aber der Spaßfaktor war spitze!

Η συγκεκριμένη pub βρίσκεται στο υψηλότερο σημείο της περιοχή του Temple Bar και είναι ιδιαίτερα όμορφη και ατμοσφαιρική! Για φαγητό μην έχετε πολλές απαιτήσεις αφού έχει περιορισμένες επιλογές οι οποίες είναι απλά οκ. Στο ζητούμενο τώρα που είναι οι μπυρες, διαθέτει μεγάλη ποικιλία αλλά όχι Guinness!! Η σερβιτόρα ήταν πολύ γλυκιά και εξυπηρετική, ενώ οι τιμές φυσιολογικές για την πόλη. Θα το πρότεινα!

El lugar es unos de los irlandeses más famosos de Mainz aunque no sea el más viejo del lugar. Tiene un buen servicio y es lo que esperas al entrar en un irlandes camiseta de football y rugby en el techo fotos y publicidad de Irlanda en las paredes. El local no tiene cocina propia las hamburguesas o pizzas vienen de diversos restaurantes de los alrededores.

Irish pub as any other - welcoming, loud, easygoing, chilled and friendly. Service is great! Beer is cold, huge screens for football watching have been provided... what else could you ask for?! Well, one thing that is kind of below the bar is the food. As I understood it, they don’t have a kitchen themselves but you can order food which they bring from a pizzeria next door. This being a rather simple and cheap takeaway place, the food really wasn’t that great. Not awful or anything but just not really enjoyable either. So stick to the drinks and eat someplace else.

I have visited a few places in my time. This was by far the worst so far. One thing is that they don’t accept card. That should have rung a bell. Waiting two (2) hours for a burger should have made me leave long ago. But the fact that they came with first one and then half an hour later a few more. Made us stay. Apart from the burger being two hours late. It was also cold and dry. No I didn’t expect gourmet. But this was bad. The last of my friend never got his food. We simply had to leave. So. Don’t go there if you want to have a bite of food. Go somewhere else...

Cosy, atmospheric pub with a wide range of whiskies. There's an extra smoking room, so smokers don't have to go outside, and a very nice Biergarten in the summer. Lots of sports events are shown on the tvs and there're two quiz nights a week. Pizza and Fish&Chips can be ordered via the pizzeria next door.

It’s a fine place to get away from the buzz of Mainz. Super terrific and awesome staff like Pierce, Jonathan and Ray who are quick with a joke or light of your smoke. The porter house where everyone knows your name Cheers I’ll see ya there

Gemütlich, sehr irisches Pub mit guter Auswahl an Bieren und Schnäpsen! Sehr leckere Pizza kann man ebenfalls bestellen, diese wird im Laden nebenan gebacken. Sehr netter Service! Gute Preise. Man kann sich hier einen entspannten Abend mit Freunden machen und merkt nicht, wie schnell die Zeit vergeht!

Hier kommt der Vieltrinker auf seine Kosten und zu Essen gibt es etwas von Nebenann aus der Schnellpizzeria.

Sehr solides Pub. Ich bin ab und zu zum Fußball schauen dort. Manchmal würde ich mir nur wünschen, dass die Bierauswahl etwas größer ist. Ich bin nicht so der Guinness-Typ und greife dann meistens auf ein Kilkenny zurück. Es gibt auch nur eine Art von Cider. Nämlich Apfel. Gerade in solchen Pubs würde ich mir einfach gerne mehr Vielfalt an Bieren wünschen. Deshalb ziehe ich da einen Punkt ab. Das Pub bietet selbst kein Essen kann. Man kann daher Pizza von nebenan bestellen. Die Pizza ist in Ordnung und preiswert. Die Bedienungen sind alles nette Studenten. Wenn es voll wird öfters mal überfordert.

Gemütlicher und schön eingerichteter Laden , typisch Irish Pub. große Bierauswahl, günstige Preise und Pizza sowie sonstige Gerichte gibt es vom takeaway nebenan... preiswert und lecker. Darüber hinaus das komplette Fußball Programm auf vielen und gut einsehbaren Bildschirmen, zweimal die Woche Quiz Night (sehr lustig)... keine Reservierung möglich, ist immer ziemlich gut besucht
