After four visits: quality, quantity, and price are all right. Where else can you get a schnitzel and a glass of wine for €15? But: "Best schnitzel in town"? The schnitzels aren't "fried" and sautéed in a pan with oil or even clarified butter, so that the breading becomes uniformly golden brown and fluffy and peels off easily, but they are baked on a platter, leaving the inevitable black spots. This is much cheaper and easier. It may taste good, but quality schnitzel is different. "Weinhaus"? According to Wikipedia, this is a restaurant that specializes in serving wine, often with a large wine cellar, and where you can enjoy a glass of wine and a suitable food pairing. The wine list features five wineries, with no vintages listed, the wine descriptions are rudimentary, and the staff's wine-related expertise isn't evident. The menu is practically all schnitzel, often with ingredients that dominate the palate, making it difficult for any wine pairing. "Cozy wine bar"? The interior is something for the nostalgic, reminiscent of a living room from the 70s. Maximum seating, no decorations on the tables, walls, or furniture. This makes it loud and cramped. Service? Often long waits. Instead of adjusting the number of guests to capacity, they prefer to keep guests waiting to squeeze in every last penny. Profit maximization dominates hospitality. This is fitting that only cash payments are accepted.

More for gourmands than gourmets. If you're looking for large portions for relatively little money and don't care how the "poor" pig might have been raised, this is the place for you. Large slabs with no noticeable blistering in the breading, with mushy fried potatoes and thick, greasy gravy on top. Some people are already queuing up before 5 p.m. because, unfortunately, you can't make reservations outside. Schnitzel from the conveyor belt, presumably from the deep fryer rather than the pan. The tofu versions are no better. The service was very good, and the white wine spritzer was delicious. Cash only 😉

Still the best schnitzel in Mainz. The terrace is super nice, but you should allow yourself some time because it's always quite busy. My personal recommendation is the braised onions with cream sauce. The quality of the food has been consistently consistent over the years; you're never disappointed. I'm always incredibly happy to be a guest here. Keep up the good work! It would be nice to be able to pay by card here in the future. So remember to always carry cash with you at the moment.

If you're hungry and enjoy wine, this is the place for you... huge portions and a great selection of regional wines. When it's full, it can be loud... but the good food and drink make it bearable.

Recently visited Weinhaus Kurfürst and was very pleased! A great place with an atmosphere of coziness and a real wine house. The menu is impressive - a large selection of dishes that go perfectly with the excellent wine list. I especially liked the meat and fish dishes, prepared with great skill. The service is attentive and professional, the staff helped to choose a wine for each order. A great option for dinner in good company or a romantic evening.

Right in the heart of Mainz's Neustadt district. Quality and tradition in the wine selection! I wasn't born in Mainz. But I've lived here for a very long time.

The food is actually always good, but we had to wait half an hour to order our drinks and then another 20 minutes to order the food because we weren't allowed to order it at the same time as the drinks.

A very successful wine bar with friendly and attentive staff and excellent schnitzel dishes. Although the prices have recently been slightly adjusted, they are justified given the portion sizes, and it was already very affordable. The Valais-style Cordon Bleu is my personal favorite. Cozy restaurant invites you to linger. Gladly again

First of all: I have been enjoying going to the Kurfürst for years. And the food was always great. However, the service when it came to drinks was subpar. It took 35 minutes before we could even place the order. The delicious food was on the table after 25 minutes by the nice women in the kitchen. The drinks didn't come until 10 minutes after the food was served. We also had to wait another 30 minutes to order another drink. When they still weren't there after 30 minutes, we wanted to leave, then they finally came... Dear tenants: I know that it is difficult to find good staff. But if there is a staff shortage or the service is new, it shouldn't be a problem to communicate this to the guests, especially the regulars...if there had been the option of picking up the drinks at the counter ourselves, we would have saved at least an hour of waiting time. They've been standing there for a long time...

We've never had such a bad meal out before, we were all totally disappointed! Really questionable how all the good reviews came about!? The schnitzels were bland, unseasoned and tasted somewhat floury. The mini portion of fried potatoes were also unseasoned, greasy and had a soft consistency! To charge such prices for such quality is outrageous! I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Wir hatten an einem Samstag Abend zu 7 einen Tisch reserviert - uns wurde das Restaurant empfohlen. Letztendlich waren wir aber doch enttäuscht. Vor allem der Service war an diesem Abend ausbaufähig und total unterbesetzt. Es dauerte fast eine Viertelstunde bis wir unsere Getränke aufgeben durften - als wir dann direkt das Essen mitbestellen wollten, hieß es, dass wir das erst sollen, wenn unsere Getränke da sind. Bis die kamen dauerte es auch noch mal gute 10 Minuten. Dann hatte die Kellnerin den Block vergessen und wollte "sofort" wieder kommen, nahm aber erst die Bestellungen an zwei anderen Tischen auf. Auch das Warten auf das Essen war lang, gut eine Stunde. Wenn das Essen dann gut ist, kann man darüber hinweg sehen. Aber nur 4 von 7 waren mit dem Essen zufrieden. Das Cordon Bleau war handwerklich nicht gut gemacht, sehr faserig und die Panade sehr trocken. Bratkartoffeln teilweise verbrannt. Als wir mit dem Essen fertig waren, wurden die Teller nicht abgeräumt. Auch wurden wir nie gefragt, ob wir noch etwas trinken wollen. Bei den Wartezeiten war natürlich alles schon leer - und auch auf die Rechnung warteten wir abermals 15-20 Minuten. Wir waren gut zweieinhalb Stunden vor Ort, hatten jeder ein Getränk, ein Absacker, den wir an der Theke dann bestellt haben, und unser Essen.. Ziemlich lange.. Leider ein Abend, der nicht die Empfehlung rechtfertigt

Excellent cuisine and service. The shish kebab and stuffed fish were simply superb. This is even despite my dislike for stuffed fish. The cook changed my mind. The fish was very tasty. There was wonderful wine to go with it. Thank you for the warm welcome.

Rustic, authentic wine taverns. It can get very noisy because the tables are close together and the guests drink plenty of good wine, which encourages lively conversations. Here you sit at the large tables, as is usual in a Meenz Woistub, with complete strangers, where you can find interesting conversation partners for the duration of your stay. You should reserve in advance and have cash with you, because everything in the Kurfürst is still handled in the classic way: order on the pad, bill on the cover.

We had dinner at the Weinhaus Kurfürst on September 22nd, 2024 with 12 people. The staff was very competent and very friendly. The food for 12 people came out of the kitchen and was delicious for everyone. Big compliment to the entire team. We'll be back.

Unfortunately, the Weinhaud Kurfürst was a big disappointment across the board. We came a long way to try the highly praised schnitzel. After waiting for over half an hour to place our order, we found out that there was no schnitzel. There weren't many alternatives but we were flexible. The food took another hour to arrive and was unfortunately a bitter disappointment. I had the meatloaf with green sauce. Unfortunately everything was very tasteless and tons of chopped raw garlic all over the dish. The service didn't make any effort to compensate for the inconvenience during the evening. Half an hour before closing time, the owners turned up inappropriate music loudly and completely ignored us. In summary, the evening was neither pleasant in terms of cuisine nor the atmosphere and unfortunately not worth the money at all. No restaurateurs work here!

We were in this restaurant yesterday with 5 people and unfortunately our visit was not satisfactory. We had to wait **1 ¾ hours** for our food, which is way too long. There were also **not enough plates**, which further affected the service. The staff was friendly, but the long waiting times and inadequate facilities severely spoiled the overall impression. It could have been pointed out that a problem was causing longer waiting times. The fact that the cook himself quickly cleared away the food immediately after you had finished your meal and only then served it to the next table after a short time, indicates to me that there was a lack of plates. Even the statement that an exceptionally large number of guests visited the restaurant does not change this very, very long waiting time! Since all the neighboring tables had the same problem and many of them said when they left that no one would see us here anymore, it shows that something is going wrong there. I hope the restaurant fixes these issues in the future.

Vegetarians may be put off by the menu, but the few veg. Dishes are prepared well and with love. We were very satisfied.

Beautiful streetside restaurant to have some great german schnitzel. They also do indoor seating if the weather is not adequate. However if the weather is nice the outdoor seating is lovely, green and calm. Excellent food quality, can take a bit of time if it is busy but it is highly worth it. Decent beer selection also.

Long-established wine bar in Mainz Neustadt. Super delicious food. They are known for their large selection of different schnitzels, as well as regional selection of wines. It is very positive that you can order large and small dishes. The young service team is super friendly, but sometimes a bit overwhelmed when it's full.

I don't want to complain and neither did the other 6 who were with me. Top price-performance ratio. A typical service for Mainz. The ingredients are fresh, the portions are really big. All dishes/side dishes/salads available in small or large sizes. Anyone who “complains” about a waiting time here knows nothing about fresh preparation. I can only recommend. It was very good. In the picture “Meenzer Glück”, 2 beautiful schnitzels gratinated with hand cheese and onions (not fine dining but “full on the face”) that was great. Thank you

But dear people, your handwritten beer mats with incomprehensible positions and the rigorous exclusion of card payments are neither contemporary nor tax-honest. It's so sad: most of it is true with you, especially if you're lucky enough to get one of the wonderful street spaces on Kurfürstenstrasse on a warm evening. Service and cuisine: earthy and delicious. But such an accounting really doesn't work!!! You are damaging your reputation!

A beautiful, rustic Mainz wine house. We were there for dinner with 2 children. On the one hand, it was great for the kids that every dish could be ordered as "small", and on the other hand, children's requests were proactively addressed and they asked directly from the kitchen whether raw onions could be added to the salad the kids are ok, etc. The meals, we had cordon bleu, schnitzel, meatloaf and a rump steak, were very filling and just as tasty. The young team was very attentive and always friendly. We were certainly not here for the last time. :-)

Hab mir ein Zwiebelschnitzel bestellt und als Vorspeise ein spundekäs. Geschmacklich 7/10, schön angerichtet, für den Preis in Ordunung, 36€ für Spundekäs, Zwiebelschnitzel und 3 Hefeweizen 0,5 Liter, Service war mega freundlich aber für die Menge an Gästen die drinnen saßen definitiv zu wenig Personal. Alles sehr schön eingerichtet, und sauber. Getränke haben sehr lange auf sich warten lassen. Ich habe mich ein wenig vergessen gefühlt. Kartenzahlung leider nicht verfügbar. Wäre meines Erachtens gut wenn das Restaurant auf Google angeben würde, dass man nur mit Bargeld zahlen kann.

Bestes Schnitzel in ganz Mainz, vom Gurken Kartoffelsalat mal ganz abgesehen! Spitzen Team mit kompetenter Führung im Service (Grüsse gehen raus an die Westerwald Scholle) als auch in der Küche. Muss man definitiv mal gewesen sein👍

Lecker Essen Freundliche Bedienung Schöner Abend

Waren kurzfristig wieder einmal im Kurfürst gewesen. Das Weinlokal war wieder voll und komplett belegt. Hatten aber Glück, so dass wir nach kurzer Wartezeit Platz nehmen konnten. Was isst man beim Kurfürst? Natürlich Schnitzel, da die sehr lecker sind. Egal was man für eins isst. Alle lecker. Auswahl gibt es genug. Hatten ein Meisterschnitzel Deluxe und ein Zwiebelschnitzel. Beides sehr lecker. Was isst man zum Schnitzel dazu? Natürlich Bratkartoffel. Auch sehr lecker. Es gibt keine Pommes beim Kurfürst. Dazu noch ein Beilagensalat und man ist danach richtig satt. Dazu eine leckere Weinschorle, bei der man den Wein schmeckt. Am Ende haben wir für alles 45€ bezahlt. Preis und Leistung stimmt daher. Der volle Laden bestätigt dies uneingeschränkt. Was muss man nun beachten, wenn man zum Kurfürst geht? Wenn man mit mehr als zwei Personen hin geht vorher einen Tisch reservieren. Schnitzel in in klein bestellen.

Hier gibt's bei gutem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis die besten Schnitzel von Mainz. Die Zubereitung dauert ein wenig, dafür ist aber auch alles frisch. Auch die Weinpreise sind moderat. Das Ambiente ist einfach und typisch Weinstube, das Personal sehr nett. Das Cordonbleu mit Bratkartoffeln und Pfeffersauce war sehr lecker!

Kleine übersichtliche Speisekarte, was ich persönlich sehr schön finde. Die Gerichte kann man auch als kleine Portion bestellen ! Was ich persönlich mache um mir zu einem leckeren Main Dish noch einen leckeren Salat oder eine Suppe vorweg bestelle.

Gute bürgerliche Küche, mit ordentlichen Portionen, sehr gute Weinauswahl und dabei noch bezahlbar. Sehr netter Service, Sehr nettes Ambiente (haben im Aussenbereich gesessen). Immer wieder gerne.

Wie immer sehr lecker. Allerdings finde ich ein Frankfurter Schnitzel ohne Beilagen für 14,50€ schon recht hoch. Ich weiß schon, dass die Preise fürs Lebensmittel, Bedienung teurer geworden bzw. gestiegen sind. Das heißt allerdings für mich, daß ich mir in Zukunft 2x Essen gehen in der Woche nicht mehr leisten kann.

Wir waren Sonntag Abend recht kurzfristig dort, hatten aber ca 1 Std vorher einen Tisch für 5 Personen telefonisch reserviert. Das war auch ratsam, denn das Restaurant war sehr gut besucht. Wir haben tolle Schnitzel, insbesondere das "Bologna Schnitzel" (paniertes Schnitzel mit Bolognese Sauce und Käse überbacken) mit Bratkartoffeln war ein Traum :). Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder! Zusammenrücken macht eigentlich das Flair vieler Mainzer Kneipen aus. Scheint hier aber nicht der Fall zu sein. Personal distanziert freundlich. Der Wein war ok.

wir waren zum Abendessen im Kurfürst. Wir hatten Plätze reserviert. Leider wurden wir an einen Bestelltisch neben eine kleine, aber leider laute Gesellschaft gesetzt, obwohl noch einige Tische unreserviert waren. Ich hatte ein Hacksteak mit Grüner Sauce und Bratkartoffeln. Dazu einen kleinen Beilagensalat. Das Essen war schrecklich. Das Hacksteak war eine Scheibe vom Hackbraten, der wenig Konsistenz hatte, die Bratkartoffeln waren labberig und die grüne Sauce war eher eine Art Milchsuppe mit Petersilie und Schnittlauch Stückchen.Beim Salat war zu wenig Dressing und die Salatblätter viel zu groß. Das Essen war insgesamt ohne Geschmack. Vielleicht hätten wird Schnitzel essen sollen, unser Essen war die Parkplatzsuche nicht wert.

Das Kurfürst ist ein schönes kleines Weinlokal in der Mainzer Neustadt. Es ist sehr urig und gemütlich eingerichtet. Im Sommer kann man auch draußen sitzen, das allerdings direkt an der Straße, was evtl. manche stören könnte. Die Weinauswahl ist sehr gut zusammengestellt und bietet viele regionale Weine an. Die Schnitzel sind ok, aber für meinen Geschmack schmecken sie zu buttrig. Wer das nicht mag sollte von den Schnitzeln die Finger lassen. Das Rumpsteak war sehr lecker und wie gewünscht auf den Punkt zubereitet. Für einen nette Abend mit Freunden und Wein ist es sehr zu empfehlen.
