Amazing spot for a Brunch. The Benedict egg is a big recommendation! Prices are rather high but average for the area. The Hayns Park is only a 5 minute walk away. There are currently construction works around but it’s still a great district!

Great experience, only not so nice/comfortable when you look outside if you're looking for something with a view. Overall very high ceilings, and cool atmosphere.

Definitely one of our favorites in Hamburg when it comes to breakfast! :)

I found the afternoon in the morning grouch excellent. The coffee and cakes were delicious, the staff was friendly and the rooms were beautifully decorated. If you're in a grumpy mood in the morning - certainly not after a visit ;)

Unfortunately our visit was disappointing. Despite having a reservation, we first had to wait 20 minutes at the entrance and then another 20 minutes at the table before we were served. The service seemed very cold and uninviting. Another drawback: the online menu was no longer up to date, which led to false expectations. I had the Italian croissant which was below average in taste. The mortadella had hardly any aroma and was reminiscent of supermarket quality. Unfortunately, the atmosphere during our visit was also not pleasant. Overall, the experience wasn't convincing - what a shame!

It was my first spontaneous visit to Morgenmuffel on a Sunday and it turned out to be the best decision. Despite the high number of people, with a little patience and waiting we got a comfortable seating area. The service was quick and attentive. Both the pancakes and the Egg Benedict Royal were very tasty and fresh. The matcha wasn't the best, but definitely not the worst either. Thank you, we will be happy to come back!

Unfortunately totally overrated. Table too small for 6 people (reserved) Cappuccino was served lukewarm, unfortunately the tartare was far too seasoned and the meat was no longer tasty. Drinks menu that is online is not available in the restaurant. Toilets very dirty

Great atmosphere, absolutely worth the visit, but definitely make a reservation. We didn't reserve and sat in the lower pond. Unfortunately there was a draft at the tables at the entrance.

Went there spontaneously at the weekend. Had to wait a relatively long time. Staff was ok, not particularly good. Prices are very high, but service can be improved. Overall good if you value style and smartly prepared food. Unfortunately the price/performance is not sufficient for us. But also depending on the type, we like it a little more relaxed with less to see and be seen. If you're looking for that, you've come to the right place. 👌🏻

The restaurant stands out with its special look and “feel”. You immediately get the feeling of: “This is the place to be”. It's all the better that the food and drinks taste good and come very quickly after you order. The tested Negroni with our own strawberry gin and our own fancy branded ice cubes also makes an impression. All in all, the restaurant is highly recommended, even if you can probably get something similar elsewhere for a smaller price. The staff deserves praise for both their friendliness and their speed.

The avocado bread tastes more like cream cheese than avocado and is overall more reminiscent of guacamole. It was also seasoned too heavily with salt and pepper for my taste. Also, tomatoes were served on it even though they weren't on the menu - which was problematic for me as I'm slightly allergic to them and had to put them aside. But what is really a disgrace: My companion ordered extra tomatoes for the avocado bread and paid €3 for them - only to receive 3 small tomatoes that were exactly the same ones that were already on the bread anyway. If she had known that, she would of course have saved herself the order. Unfortunately, as a customer you feel very ripped off. The service was very friendly, but things like this should be communicated more clearly.

We got a table spontaneously. Coffee and matcha were very tasty. The food takes a while to arrive, but it tastes very good. The interior design is also great.

A breakfast like never before! The outcome of a sensation depends on the initial expectation. If I go into something without expectations, it is difficult to be disappointed. After a fateful 21-day odyssey, I was picked up from the airport completely unexpectedly at around 10:30 a.m. on a Monday morning and driven to the morning grouch after I said that I hadn't eaten in around 30 hours and would like to have some breakfast somewhere. In my head there were images of a breakfast with baked goods, with a carelessly topped half cheese roll and a few strips of pepper that was wasted in an attempt at a decorative “serving suggestion”. Pseudo filter coffee from a coffee robot that uses digital images from the 1990s, but in color, to show the human soldier through visual representation which buttons he would like to be pressed. The caffeinated liquid that runs out at the bottom of the machine, the associated images that you know when it comes to the cleaning intervals of coffee machines, doesn't necessarily make the whole thing any more palatable for you as an image thinker. But the liquid contains caffeine, is reminiscent of coffee and somehow satisfies you with its low demands. You want to be grateful! The Almighty rained grace on me, and at around 10:31 a.m. the two of us entered “Se” (English “th”, but pronounced “järmän” The-morning grouch! The first question that literally popped into my head like lightning when I saw the room and walked in: why? Damn, is the store so jam-packed at 10:30 a.m. on a Monday morning? Don't they all have to work? And then you look at their faces and their clothes and realize: yes, they don't have to work because you can afford it! ;) And I think to myself: great! Other people, just like me! ;) But all jokes aside, a really pleasant atmosphere of seemingly people who really appreciate a good breakfast! In order not to let the matter get out of hand here, I'll keep it relatively short: Service: friendly, experienced, external appearance. Exactly suitable for the store, exactly how it should be. The shop was really full that day, unfortunately he was the only waitress that day; Given the circumstances, the boy performed brilliantly! Or as they would say here in the north: the boy did a straight reprimand on that boat! We had: The salmon toast rocket with homemade sauce, hollandaise and trout caviar and poached egg. Excellent presentation, taste on point, quality of ingredients above average; German, Mediterranean, fusion, cooking breakdance story well implemented. Shakshuka: In short: when the person who invited me said that we would have a portion of Shakka-Shukka, the following images came to mind: in the last 21 days I have tasted five different Arabic types of Shuka-Shaka or something like that in three different Emirate countries means eating one thing better than the other, and I thought to myself, what else is this shikka shugga in a shop called Morgenmuffel supposed to offer me now? And here I was absolutely proven wrong. The individual ingredients and their quality in conjunction with the very high quality of the cheese and the resulting consistency, neither too dry nor too liquid and a touch of oriental spices so as not to steal the show from the main taste of the high quality of the individual ingredients, made this dish to an actual fireworks display.🎇 For dessert we had the legendary pancakes, although I have to say in advance that I wasn't really a fan of pancakes. But frankly, these were by far the best pancakes I've ever eaten in my life; and that means something!! Butter on the outside, crispy, and fluffy on the inside, whipped with a protein banana mixture, topped with a few basil maple syrup..

Food was good, however for 14€ I do expect proper sourdough or fresh bread slices with a shakshuka rather than a dry bread roll. That was a bit disappointing. Service was slow and the ambience is a bit too polished in my opinion which does not necessarily add to a cozy feeling. Generally not a bad experience but just not my cup of tea.

The chicken waffle was the best thing I've ever eaten! A culinary masterpiece! Also in terms of drinks, from lemonade to coffee, excellent!

It was our first time having breakfast here without a reservation. The shop was full, so we got a place to lie down with a small table. The food was good. It's not cheap, but it tasted good.

A very busy breakfast restaurant with a diverse selection of dishes. Without a reservation, it is almost impossible to get a seat during peak times. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not a good choice for vegetarians. There are a few vegetarian dishes, but they seem poorly thought out and unimaginative - as if they were only put on the menu for the sake of completeness. An example of this are the Eggs Benedict: you can leave out the bacon, but you still pay the full price. Instead, it would be obvious to choose the avocado as a substitute (same price as the extras), but this has to be paid for additionally, which then makes the dish disproportionately expensive. But the service is a plus point: with the avocado sandwich it was possible to replace the fried egg with a poached one without any problems. The prices are generally in the upper segment, which would be fine if the quality and concept were convincing - but unfortunately that is not the case here. The hype surrounding this place doesn't do justice to the actual experience. There are definitely better options for breakfast in the same price range. A bright spot is the French toast, which is really recommended. But overall the restaurant is just “okay” and nothing more. As a vegetarian, I won't be coming again as I've already tried all the options that appeal to me.

It's a shame, it used to be better :( Coffee came in a dirty cup, and when I asked for a new one it was brought to me in a rather rude manner. Some of the pancakes were still raw and the egg whites were still visible. Regardless of the food, the location is a dream and very lovingly decorated, especially at Christmas time.

Nice ambience, good food and great service - but the prices are not cheap. Still recommended for a special moment. Oh and a reservation makes sense as it is quite hyped and it might be difficult to get a spot without a reservation.

Yesterday I was at Café Morgenmuffel with my wife. Although we have visited the café several times and have always appreciated the food, service and cozy atmosphere, this time we were very disappointed. After 30 minutes of waiting, no waiter came to take our order. This is absolutely unacceptable for a popular cafe. Regardless of the workload, the service shouldn't take that long to arrive. For this reason, I unfortunately cannot recommend the café at the moment and will no longer visit it myself.

After sharing my visit to Burger Home in Lübeck on Instagram, I became aware of a food blogger on Burger Home's Instagram page; An unusual smash burger caught my eye on this food blogger's Instagram page. I particularly found the croissant bun interesting. Since The Morgenmuffel describes itself as a breakfast and brunch restaurant, I would never have thought to look for burgers here. The homepage was very lovingly designed and enabled a digital tour of the restaurant; everything looked comfortably old-fashioned; There you could read: "Fusion breakfast and brunch for Hamburg morning grouches "Bun 'N' Roll Burger", "Espresso Martini" and "Miso Pancakes" - contrasts merge here: dishes, sometimes fine and elegant, sometimes hearty and hearty. One Internationally inspired breakfast world in Hamburg-Eppendorf, including from the Dulf's Burger founders." Uh! Dulf's Burger told me something! The award from the Munich-based Callway publishing house was also something special, but for me it was irrelevant, as this award related to the furnishings and architecture and not to the food on offer. The menu included sweet and savory breakfast and brunch offerings as well as various hot and cold drinks and an extensive wine list. Although I'm neither a citizen of Hamburg nor a morning person, I planned to have lunch at Morgenmuffle. Let's go! When I arrived at Morning Grouch at 11:30 a.m., there was a small line out the door and everything inside looked full. I had to wait about 20 minutes before a waiter invited me in and offered me a seat at the counter; That was fine for me. The waiter (I assume the head waiter) and some waitresses were on duty and were busy. I ordered the "BUN 'N' ROLL BURGER" (€19) with mayonnaise (€1.50) and a blackcurrant spritzer (€3.50), then I went to the toilets. The toilet area was angled and cozy, but not barrier-free due to the spatial design and steps. Once I was back at my counter seat, it took about half an hour for my food to be served; understandable given the high workload. The burger tasted very good and the patty was fluffy and well seasoned, I ate the burger with a knife and fork because of the soft bun; the fries were also very good. An interesting interpretation of a burger that deviates from American style. I noticed that all the waiters seemed deeply relaxed and in a good mood despite the high workload. I was also politely asked if I liked it. I paid €27.60 by debit card including a 15% tip. I can only recommend The Morgenmuffel in Hamburg-Eppendorf. A reservation makes sense.

I had high expectations (Instagram), but I have to say that I found it only average to good in terms of cuisine. I was a little disappointed with the Eggs Benedict, but of course that's also a matter of taste. I loved it! So stylish! So cute! The food was so delicious and the service nice and fast though the restaurant was full! Better make a reservation because you can end up in a really small table but that’s also nice! Eggs and pancakes from heaven! I definitely go back to try the rest menu! The service and the food are very good in themselves, but why I can't pre-order anything over the phone is a mystery to me... Since I work a lot and don't have time to wait long in the restaurant, I would have preferred to just get the food out quickly and therefore pre-order it by phone. Apparently it doesn't work, for whatever reason. Very unfortunate.

So apart from all the gastronomic factors, it's a great place. The furnishings, the ambience and the resulting living room vibe invite you to linger and feel good. If the service and food are good, the coffee is good and there is a small, fine cocktail menu, you won't miss anything. Yes, the price is not necessarily cheap - but good things have their price. Chicken Waffle was outstanding .. should be tried on my explicit recommendation ;)

We went here for breakfast and it was simply fantastic! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the service was friendly and attentive from the start. The selection of breakfast dishes is diverse and leaves nothing to be desired. Our highlight was definitely the French toast – fluffy, perfectly sweet and made with love! If you're here, you definitely have to try it. All in all, a wonderful café that we can only recommend. We'd love to come back!

A little more expensive but the dishes are very lovingly prepared and well balanced. I personally really enjoyed the matcha latte. The service was competent, fast and super nice. The room was a bit noisy, but I think we were just unlucky with the neighboring table. Overall nice experience.

The breakfast menu is creative and deviates from the usual breakfast creations. The chicken on the waffles was juicy and the sauce that went with it (for me separately because I was afraid of the chili - it was unfounded) went well. We also really liked the selection of drinks - the Tea Amo for breakfast was drunk within a very short time. But what impressed us most was the friendly and unobtrusive service. I don't know the last time a waitress summarized my order to make sure everything was correct. She was also very attentive. When her colleague brought us cappuccino and we just looked around briefly, she brought us the sugar. Overall, a successful start to the day.

The best pancakes in town are here! The Eggs Benedict and the Shakshuka are also very tasty, as are the juices, but no other Hamburg café can come close to the pancakes. When it comes to juices, the price-performance ratio is a bit blurry since they are offered as shots and cost almost as much as a regular-sized juice, but the quality of the food and drinks is always very good. It's always a good place to go, whether for brunch or during your lunch break. It's most relaxing when you have some time with you. The staff is very friendly and the location is super nice. You feel very comfortable here and can look forward to a delicious brunch!

Very good breakfast restaurant, I've been there for years. Maybe even the best in the Eppendorf area. But maybe there's a new chef, the eggs Benedict weren't as excellent as usual (egg too done, toast dry, no more garnish). Tip: Reserve in advance on the weekend.

I recently went to Morgenmuffle for the second time. After I was so impressed with the pancakes the first time, I definitely had to go there again with my visit. Unfortunately, after the second visit I was very disappointed with the food. I'll attach a picture, but while the pancakes were a work of art and tasted even better on my first visit in April 2024, they were a bitter disappointment six months later. I don't know what happened that day. Was it because we were there during the week and not on the weekend? Did the kitchen have a bad day? I will give the morning grouch another chance in the future, because the service is very friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant and modern. So I hope this is just a one-time blip and I don't have to write this place off.

We recently had the pleasure of visiting The Morgenmuffel restaurant in Hamburg without a reservation - an absolute stroke of luck as the restaurant is usually fully booked. An early reservation is therefore highly recommended, as The Morgenmuffel is always well attended due to its popularity. The location in Eppendorf is also great and creates a nice atmosphere for a relaxed breakfast or lunch. This time we were there for lunch and were thrilled by the clear but excellent menu. The dishes we tried are particularly noteworthy: the shakshuka, the oysters, the beef burger and the blueberry pancakes were all incredibly tasty and prepared with great attention to detail. Another highlight were the fresh shots, like the “Sun Salutation” with ginger and passion fruit – absolutely delicious and refreshing! Whether for breakfast or a quick lunch – The Morgenmuffel is definitely worth a visit and impresses with delicious food, a pleasant atmosphere and a great location. We'll definitely be back!

So, the food and ambience are great. But the rest... just wait at the door. Then wait, even if you have a reservation, then wait again to get a ticket and then wait to be able to place the order. Hm..

We had 2 burgers with fries and mayo, a 0.2 liter Afri Cola, a tea and a bottle of filtered tap water. The burger is really delicious, one of the best smashed burgers, but with a total price of €62 including a 10 percent tip, we won't be coming back. Unfortunately you cannot rate the price here in stars

Ayooooo nice white girl place for brunch. Fantastic egg dishes, good coffee specialties, flat whites and so on, this that. Sweet furnishings, mix of old Eppendorfer building and a bit modern, clean. The only drawback is music like that. Were there on Friday lunchtime and they were playing Ibiza Ushuaia House Classics. Great music in itself, but unfortunately a bit too pushy for a late breakfast.

Fantastic taste experience in the morning muffle! I am absolutely positively surprised by my visit to Morgenmuffel! The restaurant managed to really impress me in terms of taste. Every dish I tried was superbly prepared, with fresh ingredients and perfectly balanced flavors. Not only was it delicious, but it was also very attractively presented.

I had the blueberry pancake which was amazing 🤩 . This is by far the best pancake in Hamburg.

You were reminded from the start and several times that you only had two hours to eat and leave the restaurant on time! Impossible.

I'm not a big breakfast fan... but what's on offer there is just mega (delicious).. they also think of the man (burger or mortadella croissant). The taste of the dishes is at a top level. If you want to have breakfast in Hamburg, there is no alternative!

The staff is very friendly to the point of being extremely friendly. Shortly after opening you get i. d. R. still have a table without a reservation. The furnishings and style are upscale, but the comfort suffers somewhat as a result. Coffee is well prepared, the Benedict Eggs Royal are solid: the brioche could be more toasted for my taste, the hollandaise less thickened and more flavorful. Salmon and caviar were good average. All in all a solid shop, with a mainly Eppendorf crowd.

Food was fantastic. However, you have to advise all guests who arrive very hungry and decide to eat something hearty and then stuff the pancakes on their own to listen to their partner and share the dessert. The portions are incredibly large and filling. It's better to share instead of throwing away.

Here you get the chicest brunch in Hamburg. We enjoyed the oysters, the beef tartare (hand-cut) with the fantastic French fries and the Eggs Benedict with caviar. Service was very friendly and the location was perfectly styled. In summer you can also sit outside. There are various rooms inside that can certainly be booked exclusively for events

The service was super nice and accommodating. The food was to die for. And the location is very well maintained and renovated old building. The prices are correspondingly slightly higher.

Very nicely done with delicious scrambled egg specialties. Unfortunately, a spontaneous visit is not possible as it is always very crowded here. Then you have to queue up to be assigned a seat. I would like to come more often but it's too stressful for me.

The quality and taste of the food was fantastic! Cant complain a bit! Though the service? I never been to a brekkie place that slow. 10min waiting to get seated at a place that has 70% of chairs free... Then ages till they come to your table outside and dont ask for when you will get your food served. I highly recommend anyone going there to order the food first before considering to order drinks. And for a brekkie place the tables outdoors are way too small if you plan to eat. For coffee itself they are cool and good looking though.

Tried it for the first time, made a good impression. After a bit of a wait, we were very hectically directed to a table. We then sat for some time without receiving a card or being admitted in any other way. After making eye contact, the waitress completely ignored us directly in front of our table and had to be spoken to directly again. The food was delicious, but totally overpriced. Croissant 3 euros and jam with it 4 euros? A small portion of scrambled eggs 5 euros? It's not worth eating here, there are cheaper ones with delicious food and much better service!

This is the greatest kitchen for flavor, taste and overall food quality. They are inspired and dedicated to their craft. It's a beautiful location only surpassed by their staffs attention to details. I love it, you will too!

Solid breakfast restaurant, but in my opinion vastly overrated/hyped. It's always called the best breakfast, which I don't agree with. They make a lot themselves, including the hollandaise, which I think is exemplary. Coffee is not special (dark roast), but prices are normal/not excessive for the district. Very busy, but for me there are better addresses in Hamburg. Had the eggs benedict royal, unfortunately a bit too much salmon, so it was too salty for me and not as finely prepared as expected. You can sit outside near a busy street. I would estimate that there could be room for a good 100 people inside and outside.

We wanted to go for breakfast and had looked at photos online. The restaurant looked very attractive from the outside. It was very unusual that we had to wait at the door until someone came and assigned us a table. Inside it was nicely decorated. The waitresses often asked us if we would like to order water. That was a little strange. They also spoke when if you work in a Michelin star restaurant (very snobby). The prices were also very salty, as was the food. I've never eaten such over-salted food as here. As if the chef had put the entire supply of salt in our food. Now I knew Me too, which is why the waitress wanted to sell us water. By now it was so warm in the shop that we paid and left. Conclusion: once and never again!

Top shop - a MUST in HH! Sometimes you have to wait a little because of the crowds, but it's really worth it! Extremely cool interior, very tasty food (also VEGAN 💚) and a lot of staff who are friendly and attentive... thank you very much and see you soon 😘

We've been wanting to go to The Morgenmuffel for ages and only recently made it. It's incredibly busy and it's also very difficult to get a reservation at "normal" times (and not 3pm for brunch). It has to be said that the dishes are really tasty, attractively presented and the portions were surprisingly ok. My favorite are the eel slices! We had a really nice time, we will definitely be back

A nice cafe with outdoor seating. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive, we were greeted warmly and served quickly. I only had a cappuccino with oat milk, which was very good, and my companion had an avocado bread, which wasn't particularly big, but too expensive for my taste, I don't think 15 euros is appropriate. We definitely felt comfortable, which I always think is important. And everyone perceives prices differently...

An excellent breakfast with very nice service. I had a matcha latte and the blueberry pancakes, which were both very tasty and would be recommended. However, you have to make a reservation to get a place here.

I've been here several times now, but unfortunately it gets worse every time. We waited almost 40 minutes for food today and got the wrong food again. The service generally seemed a bit disorganized and uncoordinated. In the end we each ordered a glass of white and rosé Cremant and received two white ones. When you ask prices like that (€85 for two people), I just expect more. That was much better six months ago and is simply disappointing today.

Cozy atmosphere and all dishes were both creative and very tasty. The service was friendly and helpful, but unfortunately a bit chaotic.

One of the best spots I’ve discovered in Hamburg! From the reception to the food, everything was impeccably delivered! Definite recommendation! The cappuccino alone is worth the trip! 😉👌🏾

Good breakfast available. All we have tried was really good. I recmmend to reserve a table for the weekend. High chair available for your child. And all staff was super friendly

Unfortunately totally overhyped - the staff wasn't very friendly when you sat down, but the service at the table was friendly but rather fake. The food itself was okay, but could have been at least a little seasoned. Portions are very small for 15-25€. The location is really pretty but loud. Unfortunately we won't be coming back again, it's not worth it.
