The ASH Bochum in Bochum

Everything here is perfect. A wonderfully cozy atmosphere, attentive service, and the menu is exactly to my liking. The steaks are superb and highly recommended. However, like other restaurants, it's become very expensive, so I unfortunately don't go there as often now. That way, it remains a special treat.

Unfortunately, this was my first and last time here. I had high hopes, but was more disappointed than anything else! The staff are all wonderful; very nice, polite, and attentive. Our server kept a watchful eye on everything, clearing away empty plates, glasses, cups, etc., and asking for more drinks. The brunch itself is good. The selection of rolls/bread is too small. I didn't see any quark among the jams. If you only want to go to certain stations (e.g., pancakes), you have to join the back of the queue. This also applies to getting your plates. The location of the coffee station is also very inconvenient. The cups are far too small to carry across the entire building. They don't offer lattes. To put it mildly, the water is a rip-off! Almost €7 for purified tap water is outrageous. Furthermore, the carbonation tastes far too harsh for my liking. The spare ribs are a definite highlight. Very tasty and tender! However, the spare ribs and the service aren't enough to make me want to eat here again. Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives.

The waiter with glasses and blond hair is like dessert. If I lived nearby, I'd ask for his number.

The restaurant is okay, but far too loud and geared towards a large crowd. The price-performance ratio is average; it could be better. The food was okay. The service was also fine, and the atmosphere was okay too. In conclusion: okay, but overall, it didn't impress me.

I have been to the ash 3 times total. Terrible service. The food is good, the atmosphere is good, the service is terrible. Long waits to see your server. Drinks often served after your food. Very disappointing and Aggravating. Please do better

There were seven of us there today. My rump steak was only lukewarm, as were the fries. An average dining experience. It was my first time there, and I was really looking forward to it. As they say, you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

The ASH Ruhrpark – A delightful dining experience with a minor drawback. Date of visit: November 11, 2025 The ASH Ruhrpark is a truly impressive location for a wonderful evening! The atmosphere is fantastic – a really inviting and cool setting that encourages you to linger. The food: Quality that impresses! My friends were absolutely thrilled with the "All You Can Eat Spare Ribs." The ribs were clearly a huge hit and tasted amazing. I myself had a fantastic sirloin steak with grilled vegetables. The steak was cooked to perfection and of outstanding quality – a real treat! The food overall demonstrates that The ASH places great value on high-quality ingredients. Service and value for money The service was also excellent. The staff was attentive and friendly, which rounded off the positive overall impression. The prices are absolutely reasonable considering the quality. You're paying for a great atmosphere and high-quality food. Criticism: The marinated spare ribs The only downside was the issue surrounding the spare ribs and my admittedly specific dietary requirements (no sugar, ketogenic diet). I had specifically called ahead to ask if it was possible to get ribs without marinade, which was unfortunately not the case. The explanation given by the server on the phone—that the ribs arrive already marinated from the supplier—is understandable, but disappointing for guests with dietary restrictions (such as avoiding sugar). It's a shame when a dish you would otherwise enjoy is unavailable due to external preparation. My conclusion: The ASH Ruhrpark is a great restaurant with outstanding steak, delicious ribs, and excellent service. I was very satisfied with my meal, and my friends were thrilled with the ribs! Suggestion for the restaurant: It would be great if, in the future, you could offer the option of ordering a small portion of spare ribs without pre-marinating them, or even an unmarinated option, to accommodate guests with dietary restrictions. A really good T-bone steak, admittedly a bit fatty, but that's to be expected. The taste was exceptional, and the small (Turkish?) waitress made the evening an unforgettable experience! The ambiance is modern and unique, but the prices are too high for my taste.

I had a salmon teriyaki bowl. Fresh and very tasty. The corn-fed chicken was also delicious. It wasn't too crowded at lunchtime, so it was quiet. The service was excellent.

I have to say the ambiance is very nice, but the brunch buffet was a huge disappointment. There was no minced pork, no tomato soup. We waited for half an hour, and still no one came to take our drink orders. The service was terrible. We also had to wait a very long time to pay and had to ask twice.

Dear Sir/Madam, I recently visited your restaurant with my two children. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the ambiance – a big compliment to you for that. Unfortunately, the service that day was very disappointing. We had to wait almost an hour for our food. After politely addressing the waiter twice, I received no clear answer. When I then asked another waitress for assistance, the first waiter came over and reacted very rudely. He told me in an inappropriate tone that I should "let her do her job." I subsequently tried to speak with the manager, but I didn't feel taken seriously there either. I found this very unfortunate, especially since I actually have a high opinion of your restaurant. I would therefore like to ask you to address this issue with your team. I hope that the service improves, as we would gladly return – but only if we feel welcome as guests. Sincerely, Weiß

The burger was okay—nothing more. The prices for mayo, aioli, and other toppings were completely exorbitant. The steaks weren't cooked to the ordered doneness. Value for money: so-so.

I'm very disappointed. Despite a confirmed table reservation, we weren't offered a regular table. The staff made absolutely no effort to find a solution or accommodate us in any way. This simply shouldn't happen in a restaurant like Ash. Unfortunately, I absolutely cannot recommend it.

I was served the smallest 200g fillet steak of the week at "The Ash"!!! When I got home, I had to eat some cereal because, as a normal eater, I really couldn't get enough to eat! Yes, I ordered the meat well-done, but I grill steak myself often enough to know it can never be that cooked...a real shame. Next time, I'd rather go to the Argentinian family-run restaurant in downtown Bochum, which always serves me a well-done steak (without cheating on the size/weight) with joy and warmth! When I complained to the manager, he was unsympathetic and offered no assistance. My companions pointed out their meat and its size for comparison, but they weren't interested! You shouldn't treat your guests like that. I won't be having my business lunches there anymore.

One star for the service, the rest was abysmal. We were there on a Friday evening with a larger group and were seated right upstairs. I opted for the truffle pasta, and the food and drinks arrived quite quickly. Unfortunately, I immediately discovered that the pasta was truffle-free—no taste, no smell, and the other people at my table couldn't find any truffles either. So I complained to the waiter, who immediately took the plate away and promised me a new one. Since we were sitting upstairs, we had a perfect view of the kitchen, so we watched my plate. A chef immediately prepared a new portion for me, but instead of throwing away my old plate, it was served to another table! That's an absolute no-go! I've already eaten from that plate, and to save money (?!) they sell the same plate to someone else. Absolutely outrageous! We will never visit this restaurant again; it's simply disgusting! And btw, the second portion of truffle pasta I got again had no truffle smell or taste, and that for just under 20€!

Not my thing.... Regarding 🍔 / meat not juicy, more like "well done." I thought the standard for good burgers was medium, without asking the server for anything extra... If I ever go there again, I'll let the waiter know how cooked I want my patty?! * At good burger joints, this information is included in the menu - sweet potato fries weren't crispy either - the mayo I ordered was converted to truffle without notice (my partner and I both confirm, IT WAS NOT NORMAL MAYONNAISE). Everyone has to decide for themselves / the ambiance counts - OR should you come back because the food was delicious?!

I was unfortunately very disappointed with my visit. I ordered a 300g rump steak, which was an absolute disaster—extremely fatty, riddled with tendons, and barely edible. It was so bad that I sent it back. Unfortunately, there was no compensation or assistance from the staff. For a meal in this price range, I expect significantly higher quality and customer service. Very, very dissatisfied—I definitely won't be coming back.

The offer is advertised in the picture, but when you get there, you learn that it's valid Monday through Friday and only until 5 p.m. I don't understand "all day, every day" to mean anything!!! We left again...

We had an extremely bad experience in Cologne in July. We communicated with Ash via email and as compensation we were given a meal on the house. We went to a BBQ event in Bochum. It was below average. The salad was empty and not refilled, like everything else at the buffet; nothing was really well chilled or kept warm. Extremely limited selection or simply not refilled. Lots of ready-made stuff. At the grill, you could have something grilled from a predetermined selection. It took forever and the quality was not particularly good; extremely small portions and nothing arrived cooked to the ordered degree. Worst BBQ, unfortunately. Service was poor. There was a constant lack of crockery and cutlery, and no active service. We are truly extremely disappointed.

Reliable quality in both food and service! Unlike other The Ash restaurants, I'm only here while shopping in the Ruhrpark, so I won't be having the delicious steak in Bochum, but rather something "smaller." This time I chose "The Greek" burger from the daily specials menu, with fries and a drink for €10.95 – more than fair! I like going to The Ash because I can rely on both the quality of the food and the friendly service! The meal was served very quickly, with a friendly smile, and they even asked me if everything was okay. I really enjoy coming here, and the only downside was the ambiance, as the outdoor chairs already have a few stains. It's probably unavoidable, but it just doesn't look that nice. I'll be happy to come back!
