Tenmaya in München

Worst restaurant visit ever! We had reserved and showed up on time. As soon as we sat down at our table, we ordered drinks and received miso soup, as this is included in the all-you-can eat menu. When we bit into our sushi, we immediately noticed the poor quality of the fish. The wasabi wasn't wasabi, but colored horseradish. But the bad food was far from the worst part of the visit here. We hadn't even been sitting for 10 minutes when the waiter slapped a piece of paper on our table that said "7:00 p.m." and told us that we had that long to eat because several people had made reservations today. It was just 6:00 p.m. Getting an hour to eat definitely wasn't our idea of ​​a nice Saturday evening, especially not at this price for poor quality food. When we told the waiter that we wanted to leave and also offered to pay for the soups and drinks, he didn't want to let us go. I had to tell him several times that we didn't want to stay under these circumstances (inedible fish and a far too short time limit for eating, which was not communicated on the website or anywhere else). The discussion went on for a few minutes as he refused to accept our decision and didn't want to let us pay and leave. Ultimately we managed to be allowed to leave after paying for the drinks and the three miso soups (€5.90 each). The waiter also wanted to charge a tip. In the end, we were allowed to leave after less than half an hour for €28.

The service was very unfriendly and impolite. After paying we were almost thrown out. The food was uninteresting and left me with stomach cramps afterwards. Furthermore, a lot of fish was saved. Little sushi. Relatively expensive.

Food was ordered and canceled upon arrival, communication was not possible because the staff was very unfriendly and unreasonable, and no one on site spoke German or English. So I went there for absolutely nothing and left hungry and annoyed, 1 star is already too much.

Went for running sushi with my sister. The food was very tasty, large selection and the sushi band was always very well filled. The friendly waitress asked several times whether there were any requests for the assembly line. We then reordered things twice, and one of the requests was then brought to our table personally.

The best shop if you're hungry for good sushi for a very good price. I will recommend the store to everyone and have been there 3 times and have always been satisfied. It's worth trying.

We've been going to tenmaya for years. Large selection, nice service from the owner. However, the prices for an all you can eat running sushi are for weekday evenings On 32€! Increased per person. That's quite high and there wasn't much going on that evening, which we found unusual. One should perhaps think about it. The two of us paid €82 for three drinks. That doesn't fit. We will now go there at cheaper times, the prices vary considerably depending on when you go. Very unfortunate. There are also simply too many tables Space, when you sit and the table behind is occupied it's just too tight. What also really bothered us is that the service person comes to the guest's table right after smoking in front of the door - a cloud of cold smoke rises towards you. That was totally uncomfortable. Let's see when we go again. Not anymore for now

Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my visit to Tenmaya Restaurant. The food was of rather poor quality - carelessly prepared and the taste was not convincing. The service was mediocre, neither particularly attentive nor particularly friendly. For the price of 33.90 euros per person, the service is absolutely not justified. I would have expected such quality from a simple home service. And don't forget, after 1 hour. The waiters come and ask if we want anything special, after we have eaten they come…. I think that's her trick...

I can't say anything about Running Sushi but the private rooms for dinner are amazing! The ambience is as if you were immediately traveling to Japan and dining there. The waiters are incredibly friendly and the whole visit felt very authentic. The menu also includes dishes that you won't find anywhere else. I can particularly recommend the okonomiyaki, a real taste explosion! My new favorite restaurant in Munich.

Poor organization and lack of service I had reservations for Running Sushi at 6 p.m. However, when I arrived on time, all the tables were occupied. The waitress offered me to either wait or eat in the next area. I reminded her that I had made a reservation, to which she just said “yes, yes” and disappeared. Shortly afterwards, other guests arrived who had also made reservations for 6 p.m., but they also didn't have a table. At 6:15 p.m. we asked the waitress again about our reservation, but she just said we would probably have to wait another 20 minutes. No apology, no accommodation. After 40 minutes of waiting, several guests, including us, left the restaurant. On the way out, the waitress simply said a curt “sorry” without any solution or compensation. For running sushi at €32.80 per person, you at least expect professional organization and respectful treatment of guests. Unfortunately, the service at this restaurant was absolutely disappointing.

We reserved a table for Running Sushi. When we arrived there was no space left and the very unfriendly employee wanted to sit us at a table in the next room. When we declined because it made absolutely no sense, she made us wait in the middle of the restaurant. When nothing happened for 10 minutes, we asked. She then said we should wait 20 minutes. In the middle of the restaurant room. We then left the restaurant. Never again.

Unfortunately totally disappointed. We were on Valentine's Day. The running sushi consisted of 90% fried things. Sushi itself could only be found sporadically. It was only after almost 1.5 hours that the guests were asked if they wanted anything else. But we were already done by then. Unfortunately we won't be going there again.

I made a reservation two weeks ago only to be told there were no more places. (Despite reservation?) I realize that there are other guests who have also made reservations, but something like that just doesn't work.

Had dinner here this evening & all in all it was unfortunately very disappointing! We had to wait 20 minutes for our table and 1 hour for our food. My tofu soup tasted like sugar and water and was inedible. Sushi was okay. The employees were all overloaded & allowed far too many reservations for today. There was a huge queue of people that evening. It was incredible that everyone had a reservation. Unfortunately we won't be coming back. The small rooms at the back are worth an experience but it doesn't make up for this evening! The people next to us were even more unlucky and had been waiting for their food for over 3 hours! That doesn't work at all!

We arrived on time for our reservation and waited 30 minutes but still didn't get our table. It's an outrage when you reserve a table, still have to wait and then possibly go to another restaurant because we still can't get our table! Very disorganized and very disappointed!!!! And definitely still so disappointed since it's Valentine's Day too! Not happy!!!!!!

Consistently good quality at Running Sushi for many years. Even sashimi!! Are always happy and fed up with cardboard. Service is always super nice, attentive and quick. Always my pleasure!

I've been visiting Tenmaya for running sushi at lunchtime for many years. Good selection, freshly prepared, cold and warm, also desserts. Very friendly service. I always look forward to a visit there, even if the individual sushi are quite small.

Very good and varied running sushi

This place is awesome! I am a very harsh judge when it comes to sushi. I’m a landlocked place like Munich, I know getting fresh fish is not easy nor very affordable, it’s understandable. This place offers a very good variety, with a certain amount of freshness, at a good price, and excellent friendly service! FOOD: the running sushi is constantly supplied which keeps it full no matter where you are sitting. The fish itself is as fresh as it gets, salmon was creamy and refreshing to the body, the tuna was really intense and cool feeling, white tuna, and shrimps were surprisingly rich in flavor and good. Squid is quite nice too, I’m not a big fan of the rubbery texture but it was good tasting. I enjoy that the rice portion is not so big therefore, you do get more fish than rice. The tempura variety is great! There are so many options, including vegetarian ones! Nothing felt too salty or too sweet and the soy sauce was a good add on to the food. I like that they provide a good amount of wasabi and the pile of ginger is just running along with the sushi so you can get it any time! The running sushi includes a miso soup which I really love, it’s not just the water. Also the dessert selection is quite big and they even cocked us some fresh fried bananas which were delicious! The selection of fruits and their freshness was so good that it feels refreshing to have them nice and cool after eating so much! Highlight was the ice cream, the Matcha ice scream was incredibly rich, strong, and delicious, perfect amount of sweet (very very little), it felt like a really good digestive. What I liked is that you could hear quite often the preparation of certain sushi or foods, felt nice and fresh. SERVICE: the guy we had was amazing! Super friendly, he offered us everything they have and encouraged us to eat more and more haha, we really enjoyed our time with the food and with him. ATMOSPHERE: I find this place fantastic, the food, the tables a bit too close to each other but it helps with the whole running sushi dynamics which everyone in other tables seems to enjoy and therefore it is contagious. It is fun, lively, without getting loud or uncomfortably noisy. Definitely recommend this place!

Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed with the Tenmaya. For me, Japanese cuisine includes not only the good quality of the products but also the presentation of the dishes. They were nicely presented, but not as elegant and attractive as I know from Japanese restaurants. The selection on the menu is huge and tastes good, but the teriyaki chicken was not convincing. We were in a separate side room which had a nice and relaxing atmosphere. Staff was quick, friendly and very humorous

We went to running sushi and there was a lot of choice but not much sushi. There were a lot of chicken and European snacks, which was a shame. Meanwhile, all you can eat without drinks costs around €32. And unfortunately not really worth it.

The reservation is of no use. very disorganized workers. I feel like they are making fun of the customer. We had a very uncomfortable experience today. Just an incredible place, we came on the 31st of December, booked in one day, there were plenty of places. Very tasty sushi, a large selection, delicious chicken, fish, fresh fruits such as Lychee, Pineapple, Melon are also available. Many different desserts, you are guaranteed to be full and happy after the meal. The service is at the highest level, the waiters are friendly, we were also offered to bring additional food (also free of charge), such as fried bananas and ice cream. It was one of the best all-you-can-eat restaurants I've been to.

Came here for lunch and got the conveyor belt sushi and wasn’t impressed. The sushi wasn’t fresh, either because it had circulated around the restaurant a few time or because of the quality of their ingredients. I also think that they make their sushi to suit the taste of local’s rather than how it’s intended to be made (I’m fairly certain I tasted mayonnaise a few times). In my opinion, it’s overpriced for what you get. However, it’s nice that there are hot and cold options for the conveyor belt, and the service was excellent. Next time I would probably order from the menu, as I think that would be better in terms of cost and taste.

A friend and I were there for dinner yesterday, Sunday, December 1st, 2024 at 10:15 p.m. Since there wasn't much food left on the conveyor belts, the entire staff (!) including the boss tried to prepare fresh food for us and treated us like two kings. If I could give 10 stars I would give 10 stars.

A very nice Japanese restaurant with a good selection and delicious variety, the service is simply great. When you sit down and order the drinks, you are asked whether you would like a delicious miso soup as a starter, the sushi, fish, meat and vegetarian offerings are super balanced and the price is also great great for the sushi conveyor belt with a drink 27.90 the atmosphere is really cozy and nice as you would imagine a small Japanese restaurant service friendly until the end if you take a detour to Munich had a nice stroll through the city and Then in the evening I'm a little hungry for something special. I highly recommend this restaurant and I'll be happy to visit it again😊😃👍

Wir waren Samstag Abends hier Running Sushi essen. Das Personal war sehr nett und freundlich. Die Speisen waren gut, jedoch nicht wirklich ausgefallen. Auf dem warmen Band war alles Standard wie wir es aus vielen dieser Restaurants kennen. Beim Sushi gab es dann ein paar Rolls welche wir richtig toll fanden. (Mit Shrimps o.ä.) Der Preis ist jedoch unserer Meinung nach zu teuer. 33€ pro Person ist dann doch zu viel des Guten.

As mentioned by many posts here, the Sushi’s are not authentic, but in my personal opinion they taste not bad. Price is also acceptable, I took the buffet with extra drinks and it cost me ~25euros. However I encountered an insect in the rice.

I was here on o9.o4.2023, Easter Sunday for lunch (lunch buffet) for €15.80. Admittedly, the price is a bit high for 'all you can eat' lunchtime. I find the restaurant with its light wooden paneling to have a pleasant light and ambience. The restaurant was very busy, which had the advantage that there were always fresh warm dishes on the conveyor belt (warm dishes upstairs, sushi downstairs, etc.). She thought all the warm dishes were good: crispy chicken pieces, great marinated beef with crunchy vegetables, fish, fried noodles with sprouts and peanuts, etc. But I didn't try any of the sushi etc. I found the waitress nice: always a grin on her face, quick service and I wasn't pressured to finish my meal quickly; I could easily take a break between plates. By the way... I only knew this from films: A small staircase leads to the booths for private celebrations or business lunches. Conclusion: With 15.80 € for the lunch buffet you are already 'good', I enjoyed it - I wasn't hungry again until the evening of the following day. But as I said, I only rated the warm dishes - not the sushi etc.

We were there with 5 people for lunch, for running sushi. The food is good and the selection is quite large, so there is something for everyone. The service is quick, the emptied plates are cleared away quickly, which is necessary because the tables are quite small. What really bothered me was that there was unfortunately very little space to sit at the table!

I came back for the okonomiyaki! Got great service, green tea, great ramen and a mega appetizer (scallop with 🐙) on top. Had to round it off with ice cream and coconut milk lichi tapioca. Everything is great!!

A nice restaurant with Japanese cuisine. Suits those who like Japanese food. It was my first time here, the waiters were hospitable and you get the food you ordered pretty quickly. After eating at this restaurant I was completely full because I ordered bento with chicken.

Come early. Then it's just great and Tenmaya does it lap after lap. Of course, the later the evening, the less choice there is on the tape. But then ask the friendly waitress what else you would like. We have spent many great evenings here. Thanks for that.

The sushi was dry and the fish was tough. Many dishes seemed frozen, little home cooking. They charged us €4 for a glass of tap water each. In total €34 for dinner, completely terrible value for money. For that price there are many better options. we will not return

Too expensive for what it was there!

Had a la carte dinner with a friend. The place where the tables were was ok. The starters were OK. We were all the more surprised about the main course. I had a dish including miso soup, rice and chicken. At least I thought it was chicken, which I had never eaten before... Apparently it must have been pure fat, but that didn't explain the appearance. The friend had ramen with pork. We think we have seen flies on meat and in food. When we asked (which was very unpleasant for us) the waiter took it into the kitchen, came back with it and said that it was the tendons from the meat. Unfortunately, we are sure that it wasn't tendons, and the meat was unfortunately not edible either. Noodles were way too soft. After a lot of back and forth, we both decided to leave the food, which was incredibly uncomfortable for us. Unfortunately, we were really worried about our stomachs. We still paid and even gave a little tip. But we definitely won't go there again. We were really looking forward to a good Japanese restaurant after our vacation in Japan.

I am a regular customer and have been to this running sushi restaurant several times, but after my most recent experience, I will never return. I visited with my little brother and a friend, and from the moment we arrived, the waiter was incredibly unfriendly. Despite his consistently rude attitude on previous visits, I had always ignored it and tried to enjoy my meal. However, this time was the last straw. My friend and I stood up to go to the ladies' room, leaving my brother at the table, and the waiter immediately stopped us, demanding that we pay before going to the restroom. When we explained where we were going, he outright accused us of trying to steal and insisted we leave our belongings behind. This was beyond insulting and made us feel extremely uncomfortable. I have never been treated so poorly at any restaurant. It’s disappointing that such a place would treat a loyal customer with such suspicion and disrespect. I won't be coming back, and I suggest others avoid this place as well. There are plenty of other sushi restaurants where you can enjoy your meal without being treated like a potential thief.

We tried the running sushi offer at lunchtime. I'm thrilled. The sushi are fresh, varied and, above all, well done. You can clearly tell that the food is prepared by Japanese people. If you don't like running sushi, you can also try the traditional Japanese dishes away from the sushi treadmill. Good Japanese and a real recommendation for fans of Japanese cuisine.

After the Adele concert we were looking for something to eat and discovered this restaurant. Even though it was already after 11 p.m. and the restaurant was actually closed, we noticed that the lights were still on and the doors were open. When we asked if it was still possible to get something to eat, they prepared fresh vegetarian sushi especially for us, as all the other to-go dishes contained meat or fish. While we were waiting, they even brought us sliced ​​watermelon for free and we had a lovely chat with the owner. The sushi was excellent and the visit was a wonderful end to a lovely day. We would definitely come back!

The food is horrible and waaaay to expensive for this so called "sushi"

This place is far too expensive for the quality of food offered, and they charge for basic things that are included in other restaurants - like a glass of water. I will definitely not go back and recommend others look elsewhere.

The spoon I was served with miso soup had lipstick marks from the previous customer that had not been washed off. I still feel disgusted when I think about it. Always check the utensils before eating. The fried pork cutlet in the lunch special is not highly recommended. The pork cutlet tastes tasteless and the dipping sauce is too sour. I will not visit again and do not recommend this restaurant.

We've been coming here for running sushi for almost two years now and we're thrilled! The price-performance ratio is really great! If something isn't on the production line, just let us know and it will be prepared immediately. So nothing goes around 20 times, everything is fresh and very tasty.

Great Asian restaurant near Königsplatz. Highly recommend ordering the open belt item on the menu to allow you to pick any dish that passes on the conveyor belts placed directly near the tables.

A nice little restaurant for a quick meal, or you can sit in a cozy atmosphere and enjoy the meal in peace!!! Everything from sushi to curry!! Whether warm or cold even watermelon😘 For many people a minor matter but for me more important than anything else, the toilets were very clean and well maintained!!!

The website says All-You-Can-Eat for €16.90, regardless of the time. Then there's the nasty price trap in the suburbs: €28 in the evening!!!

Very disappointed by the service, when we arrived, they still have two or three tables left, but they asked us to take a very small table which is between the pillar and the running sushi, even no place for people to cross at all. The waitress and waiter said “if I gave a proper table to you, then when three or four people come, no tables for them” okay! Fine! then we were about to leave, that waiter stopped us and led us to a proper table, but then he informed us to finish eating within one hour, actually I was their regular customer, normally it’s one and half hours during the peek time, otherwise no time limitation. I was a bit annoyed by him, he explained that many customers had booked the tables already, will come at around 8pm, balabala, but since we sat down until we checked the bill, I just saw two or four people came in to eat, and so many tables were empty when we left.

Ordered Ramen here, more specifically the J12 ramen on the menu. The place was jam packed in the afternoon hours. The atmosphere was okay. I had told them to make the ramen spicy but it wasn't as spicy as I expected it to be. The quantity of ramen is A LOT. Better go here with a completely empty stomach. For the price the quantity is more than justified. I wanted to pay by card, but when the waitress saw that I had cash in my wallet, she pointed it out and said she would prefer it if I paid by cash. That part was a bit offsetting, otherwise the overall experience was really good.

A few years ago I gave Tenmaya in Munich four stars for its running sushi. Unfortunately, I now feel forced to revise this rating. It is important to emphasize that my criticism relates exclusively to the running sushi offering. My experience shows that Tenmaya seems to be aimed primarily at a German audience who may not have come into contact with authentic Japanese sushi that often and therefore have lower expectations. In my opinion, the restaurant is not recommended for tourists from Japan or connoisseurs of real Japanese sushi. Over the years, I unfortunately noticed a continuous increase in prices while the quality of the food deteriorated at the same time. This is a development that a restaurant should not actually allow. The price for running sushi in the evening is now 26.80 euros per person. If you add two drinks and a tip, the cost per person easily amounts to at least 40 euros. Given these prices, it's disappointing that hardly any sushi comes past the conveyor belt anymore and when it does, it's usually only very simple versions, such as vegetarian sushi or a piece with salmon. Anything beyond that takes a long time to come. The pictures I took make this situation clear: there's hardly any sushi on the treadmill anywhere, instead there's a lot of fried and fatty food that's supposed to fill you up, but unfortunately doesn't correspond to what you imagine by running sushi. It's sad to see how supply has dwindled. If Tenmaya wants to stick to its concept, it would be advisable to either lower the prices or give it a try and work on both the quality and the selection of the food. Unfortunately, in its current form, Running Sushi at Tenmaya does not offer the experience you would expect for this price.

Food: OK, but nothing special Service: Friendly and quick, no long waiting times Ambiance: Rather cool and bright, not necessarily celebratory or romantic Hygiene: Many people leave the doors to the assembly line completely open and talk and laugh while the food passes by a few centimeters away at head height (which also tends to get cold). That ruined my experience a little. The employees don't give a damn, which raises a little doubt about hygiene.

The selection of food was disappointing, and the service was discourteous. Despite informing them upon entry that I would be paying by card, I was repeatedly asked if I could pay in cash instead. Additionally, the cost of approximately 28 Euros per person is excessive given the extremely limited food options available. It’s also worth noting that this establishment is not Japanese, contrary to what one might expect.

Unfortunately my last visit here. It used to be better, service and offerings at Running Sushi Today it felt like there was no sushi for 45 minutes, just desserts or baked stuff... after all, you come for sushi. And no, there weren't really many guests, they had already complained about the offer, it wasn't because of the time either - it was a Sunday evening, between 7 and 8 p.m. I've been here before, but every time I visit the restaurant the offering becomes less or worse but the price increases. This time it was simply a cheek to charge €30 per person for the meager selection of food. A pity … Unfortunately, everyone was overwhelmed when it came to service, so the drinks were forgotten or the order wasn't taken at all. Used plates stood at the table for a very long time

Poor selection and mediocre quality. Kimchi was pretty tasteless, wine was borderline expensive at €6.90 per glass. There was no meat on the upper, warm treadmill. I wouldn't come back, especially at this price of €30 for running sushi.

Always excellent sushi and sashimi

The sushi at this restaurant used to be of better quality. The inside-out makis are all poorly crafted and the tuna is more brown than red and sometimes tough. If you consider the price you pay here in the evening, it's no longer a good deal for me. The service can be so friendly.
