Café am Beethovenplatz in München

The worst breakfast we've ever had. We were at a loss for words. Unfriendly service – when we asked for chai tea or green tea, we were told, "Do we look like an Indian or Chinese restaurant?" The plates were absolutely unkind, swimming in grease, overcooked, far too little, tiny rolls, stale yogurt with the spoon stuck upright in it, half a leaf of lettuce, nothing to top the rolls with, and all for a gigantic price. We've never experienced anything like this anywhere else.

They cancelled our reservation without giving a reason, and the waiter was very rude.

Unfortunately, it was a complete disaster. We were here after Oktoberfest and wanted a nightcap. Unfortunately, the service wasn't very friendly, and it was quite difficult for us to stay until the store closed at 1 a.m. We felt unwelcome the entire time. Perhaps it's because they have too few staff, but this shouldn't be passed on to the guests at any time. This was our first and, unfortunately, last time here.

I highly recommend this place. I ordered chicken curry. It was a real explosion of flavor. The prices are reasonable. Excellent value for money.

I stopped by for about 20 minutes to have a coffee. When I wanted to pay by card, the staff member told me that I couldn’t pay for a bill under €10 with a card and then walked away. I was confused, because I had already been there several times before and paid for coffee with a card under €10 without any issues. I went back to ask her again what the problem was, and she reluctantly charged me for the coffee in a very unfriendly manner. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience.

I once got a chili con carne here for lunch. About two hours later, I started experiencing severe symptoms of food poisoning. Anyway, I survived. Interestingly, the cafe survived, too.

"A penalty order against the manager of the café on Beethovenplatz lists 56 complaints, ranging from mouse droppings to dead cockroaches." Why is this café still open? That's disgusting 😦

A thin, dry slice of roast pork with a watery, overcooked dumpling for €16+, slapped onto a plate without any love, is unacceptable. The chef should have some self-respect. Before I release something like that, I'd rather say it out loud. It's a shame.

We were here for breakfast and everything was great

We were very disappointed with the service. We called in advance to reserve a table for a board game night and confirmed with the staff that this was okay. When we got there, however, a different staff member told us we couldn't play and that we had to leave. The way they handled the situation was very rude and unprofessional.

Horrible and overpriced breakfast! We waited over 50 minutes for our three breakfast dishes. The coffees were already cold by then. That's unacceptable!! The quality of the breakfast dishes also left a lot to be desired. We had the omelet and fried eggs. The fried eggs were cold, the omelet was still warm. The cereal was filled with canned fruit, the bread was partly dry and hard, and the cheese was carelessly prepared in chunks and partly dried out. Breakfast at this restaurant is absolutely not recommended! What a shame about such a lovely place.

If you need a break from the noise and appreciate the beauty of the old world charm, quiet elegance, great foods and drinks excellent service, must visit!

Simply wonderful, I'm so grateful to have found this idyllic, nostalgic location. It's like entering another world, time stands still... I couldn't rate the food, as I only had a drink.

Wine and food were expensive. The chicken salad was completely unimaginative and had too little dressing. The gnocchi were a mess. Annoying.

This was one of the places my Trip Advisor Beer Tour stopped for our trip, and it was a wonderful experience. I personally loved the ambience of the place, and the staff was warm and personable. I had a chance to listen and even play on the piano with the pianist that night, and that was particularly nice. The interior feels aged and it is worth checking out, especially the shaded areas in the patio outside.

Disaster! If only I had read the last review before ordering the muesli 😅 "Muesli without muesli" and without nuts, but with canned fruit. (The last lady had two tablespoons left – apparently, there weren't enough for us.) The cheese was stale, the honey barely a teaspoon. Lettuce leaves on the plate... it would have been better to leave them out altogether rather than add them. The coffee, unfortunately, wasn't tasty either. I've never experienced service and friendly service before. It's a shame, because the location is really nice.

I should have taken a photo of my muesli with fresh fruit. I was given two tablespoons of muesli, three slices of canned mango on my plate, more canned fruit, and then I had to pay extra for my oat milk. I was given warm oat milk for my muesli. Who on earth is muesli with warm milk? When I asked if they don't serve warm milk with muesli, I was given a bitchy look. Afterwards, my milk was brought again, but it was lukewarm. I didn't even dare say anything. Then we were charged for another muesli, which was never brought. Four of us saw that it wasn't brought, and the waitress insisted on charging us for it. Only when she asked the kitchen, and I think she spoke to her boss, did she say, "Yes, we'll leave it at that." As if she'd done us a favor. It's so nice at Café Beethoven. Muesli with fresh fruit described. You get canned food, fruit, warm milk, and a fussy waitress. It's a real shame. The lady probably isn't even to blame, because she was serving the entire terrace all by herself. They probably needed another waitress to stress the poor woman out.

Nice restaurant in the typical Bavarian-Austrian style, sometimes with live music, mixed audience from students to pensioners. Highly recommended !

Time seems to have stood still here... A small outdoor area shaded by mighty trees, overlooking the medical reading room, and an almost historic atmosphere inside, reminiscent of 100 years ago...that's something you rarely find these days. The entrance to the restrooms alone is worth seeing. A café with a special style.

This place is magical. I went there for breakfast on a Sunday, and to my surprise, there was a man playing the piano, a delight. The food isn't spectacular (although acceptable), nor is the service (it could have been that day), but I definitely recommend it!

Great café but the waiter who wore a hat should look for another job. I tried to pay by card but he said it only works for amounts over €10 which was fine, my girlfriend could pay my share in cash. But then he started telling me that I should always carry cash and repeated it five times. Then I stopped replying because it annoyed me and then he started asking me if I understood him. Completely wrong, I said thanks that's enough to which he replied that he meant it and that I should always carry cash with me from now on. To be honest, I personally recommend that he find another job, especially since he was also completely listless as a waiter and didn't even greet us when we came in.

Wir waren früher über viele Jahre oft im Mariandl - wegen netter Bedienung, sehr guter Küche und besonders auch gutem Kuchen und Kaffee nach österreichischer Art. Letzten September waren wir nach längerer Zeit wieder einmal dort und konnten nicht glauben, was wir da erlebten: der Kaffee dauerte ewig und schmeckte wie das sprichwörtliche Spülwasser. Die Torten suchten wir uns in der bekannten - diesmal aber wenig üppig ausgestatteten - Kuchenvitrine aus. Als wir die zwei verschiedenen Stücke vor uns auf dem Teller hatten, kamen uns schon Zweifel. Beim ersten Bissen war klar, dass beide Stücke verdorben (auch noch an einem heißen Tag in der defekten Vitrine lagernd) waren und offensichtlich viele Tage alt. Wir weigerten uns, zu zahlen, was dann auch akzeptiert wurde und werden nie wieder hingehen, solange dieser Wirt das füher jahrzehntelang Gäste-freundliche Lokal offensichtlich herunter wirtschaftet.

The place have beautiful atmosphere, heartwarming service and lively waiter and waitress. The taste of the coffee is really good. I think it's the best place for gathering with your friends and celebrations. Thank you so much for everything.

Staff very unfriendly, didn't come to our table for 30 minutes and when we asked if we could be served we were told to sit at the front and he definitely won't walk that far back! Everyone speaks listlessly... Food was okay, wouldn't come here again

I have known about this Viennese-style coffee house since my student days and I always enjoy visiting it. Great coffee, dishes very good and the cakes and tarts were also very tasty.

A lovely café with a relaxed atmosphere, especially in summer when you want to enjoy a sunny spot. Unfortunately, the cakes were all too dry, which was disappointing. Furthermore, the coffee was only served lukewarm. It's a shame, because the ambiance would have been perfect for a café experience.

I made a reservation for 2 people in the evening via the website - no response from the restaurant. Very unfortunate. Somehow it fits into the picture of what else you read. Sounds like the place is poorly run (or not run at all).

Nice ambience, in Art Nouveau style. The breakfast platters were very rich. The staff was very friendly, but they could have asked more often if everything was okay or if they needed something would like to reorder.

On Saturday morning at 10:45 there was no hot breakfast because the cook was inexplicably not there. The “fresh fruit” yogurt was obviously made from canned fruit. Service was ok and the atmosphere is nice, but still not recommended.

Difficult... medium steak was very well done and lukewarm... side dish was rather cold and oversalted. Substitute dish was quite tasty. The roast pork was oversalted and lukewarm... Aperol spritzer, more spritzy than anything else. Unfortunately it's far too expensive for that..... Very sad because we always liked it locally. The super friendly service saved the evening.

Bedienung war entsetzt was Ketchup " hamma ned" Und meine größte Frechheit wollte dann zur übrig gebliebenen Butter noch Konfitüre und ein Meerkornbrötchen, weil ich kein Mohnbrötchen mag "gibt s nicht mehr um 10.00 am Und für das mit Kaffee und kleinem Wasser 17.95 Sag mal geht's noch

Old cafe house charm, which is unfortunately a bit outdated. I had the lunch menu, even though it was under 10 euros, the portion was outrageously small. Both of the juice spritzers I drank had the predecessor's lipstick in them. Unfortunately not very appetizing.

That was the worst Kaiserschmarn of my life. Liquid sugar (sugar water?) was floating on the plate. The Kaiserschmarn was partially burnt and it was covered in so much sugar that everything was stuck together to form a block. Someone has missed their job here.

We had dinner at Mariandl with external guests (eight people in total) after a course. Five of us ordered the roast pork, which was served cold to all five of us. We pointed this out to the waiter, he took the plates back and after five minutes brought the five sliced ​​pork roast plates back and simply put them in front of us, but didn't know which plate belonged to whom. We then tried to distribute the plates correctly among ourselves. Apart from the worst food we Munich residents have had in a long time, the service was simply a complete disgrace.

Er schüttelte sich und sagte klar, dass er das nicht essen würde. Ich gab meinen Teller zurück und bekam die Antwort: der Chef hat es probiert, das ist okay. Die Bedienung schämte sich offensichtlich, weil die anderen beiden Stücke winzig waren und das zurückgegebene Stück sehr viel größer. Sie brachte es auch nicht zurück, es blieb in der Küche. Dennoch musste ich den vollen Preis zahlen. Ich gehe da nicht mehr hin.

I like this type of coffeehouse, but it could use a repaint. That wouldn't help the toilet anymore, but... As a specialty coffee lover, I recommend avoiding the coffee there.

We were here for dinner. The ambience was pleasant. The service was good, although I would have liked someone to proactively tell me which dishes were no longer available. The quality of the food, however, did not justify the high prices. My friend's lentil soup and Wiener schnitzel were ok. The marinated vegetables (as a starter) only tasted like vinegar. The napkin dumpling was missing from my roast pork, but I only noticed this after clearing it away. The potato dumpling consisted of a solid mass that lacked any seasoning. The same goes for the coleslaw and the gravy. The orange parfait, which was supposed to be a dessert, largely lacked sweetness. It was also too frozen. Poor craftsmanship probably describes it best. Which is a shame - my girlfriend and I had our first date here and therefore have a certain positive memory of the restaurant, but we probably won't come back again.

We came across the cafe while looking for a nice breakfast place. The card sounded appealing. Unfortunately, the service was quite unfriendly, for example my question as to whether it would be possible to get a little more jam instead of cheese was brushed off rather rudely, even though it was Monday and the cafe was almost empty, so the service or kitchen team in the room was not overwhelmed stood. The breakfast itself was just bad. I have never eaten such bad rolls, tiny, pale, dry. The baguette was probably from the day before, brittle and holey and dry. The muesli with fresh fruit consisted mostly of raisins, the fruit was a rotten apple. I found the cappuccino with oat milk for €6.20 to be absolutely cheeky. I will definitely never have breakfast here again.

Absolutely bad! There were three tables next to us occupied and after 10-15 minutes we still hadn't received a card. Even eye contact with the waitress didn't help, after 10-15 minutes we left. The main thing is that the two waitresses had time to have a fun conversation!

I was there during the Oktoberfest vacation, and found a cozy, traditional atmosphere with decent beer and soups, way cheaper than some of the stands. Food was okay at best, though.

Went here for breakfast, it took forever, really forever, for the food to arrive... oatmeal with a dollop of yogurt... you can't eat that like that. Way too dry. Really disappointing :/

I went here with my 10 year old son for breakfast at 11 on a Saturday. I had the fried egg, which was quite good. But if you write "Nutella" on the menu, it should be Nutella and not any other nut nougat cream. You can see the soft-boiled egg according to the menu in the photo... The "bread basket" was full of baguette, not even real bread. Breakfast is offered here until 4 p.m., then the quality should be good. The service was OK, although the waiter could have been a little nicer and not so listless and bored.

I really wonder where the 4.3 stars come from here? My salad wasn't even cut properly, it was all put together and it tasted so sour. The service was nice but very, very slow, considering that I only ordered a salad and there wasn't much going on. Coffee is also not recommended.

The food was okay or bad. The eggs were burnt and not runny at all. The muffin was drier than sand. The chicken salad was small and the chicken was over salted. But the worst offense was that all our food came out at completely different times, one person got served and then 10 minutes later the next person would get their food even though we all ordered at the same time. Don't come here and go anywhere else.

We certainly won't be coming back here and can only advise others not to.

The combination of first-class coffee, delicious snacks and friendly service makes this coffee bar a highlight in the heart of the city.

Staying in the beer garden was very pleasant in the beautiful sunshine. I ordered the salad with chicken breast, the chicken pieces came with black, charred spots, Lettuce with shredded stalk and lame outer leaves chopped into coarse pieces, tomatoes greenish.

I've known this café for decades. Always enjoyed being there. Now I was having coffee and cake with friends. The cakes were really bad, and expensive. Dried out, too sweet, hardly any fruit. The coffee was also mediocre, my iced coffee came when the others were already ready, the ice cream had melted by now. Instead of an apology, I was also insulted. Because I was dissatisfied at lunch a few weeks earlier, this was unfortunately the last time. Very unfortunate. The star just for the ambience and the nice garden.

Breakfast is really not to be recommended when choosing the single options, dry toast and an overcooked egg, no butter or anything extra. Yogurt with fruits also a very boring option, maybe these should only go as sides to the main breakfast?
