We were extremely surprised by the plentiful and delicious food. And especially by the nice young man with the red glasses who served us; I think his name was Aron!

A nice restaurant near Stachus. We got a table without any trouble. I had the turkey schnitzel "Viennese style" with fries. The portion was large and delicious. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and in good spirits.

The food was good and the restaurant is nicely decorated. Unfortunately, we had an unpleasant experience when paying. The waiter deducted a larger tip than we had requested without asking. When we tried to clarify this, he became quite unfriendly, which made the situation uncomfortable. I would appreciate more transparency regarding the bill and for customers to be asked beforehand how much they would like to leave as a tip.

We were at the Christmas Market near Karl's Tor and wanted to get an early dinner away from the crowds. I found Schnitzelwirt on Google maps, and it sounded good. The street entrance looks like a small shop, but it's well marked. The main restaurant is downstairs (below street level). Some reviews have commented on this saying it was too quiet, or strange to be downstairs. We appreciated the the calm and quiet so we could enjoy our meals and have a conversation. The woodwork and walls were light colored, so it wasn't dark at all. We eaten at several restaurants across Central Europe in this 'basement' configuration. It's not uncommon. We came in around 1630 and there were just a few other people. It was more than half full when we left. Our server was the Google famous Aron. He greeted us quickly and easily switched to English when he realized we were visitors. He was very good about explaining the menu, and was attentive without being intrusive. I had the Bauermeister Schnitzel and my wife had the pumpkin and ginger soup with cream and a small salad. She wasn't happy with the soup. It definitely wasn't the sweet style we have in the states. I tried it and liked the savoryness. My Schnitzel had a great flavor, but was not as tender as it should be. I did eat it, just took a bit more knife work. For dessert we had the vanilla ice cream with warm raspberries and whipped cream. Very good. I would recommend it, and would stop by again.

Excellent dinner with Wienerschnitzel and fries. Friendly and quick service. Prices are fairly in line with other restaurants. It tends to fill up quickly, so it's best to book a table or dine shortly before 6:00 PM. Pleasant atmosphere. Recommended.

I had the daily special and was completely satisfied.

Very loud, but the food was excellent. The waiters were very rushed and the toilets were dirty... but the food was worth it.

We received vouchers for a dance performance at the Oide Wiesn (Old Oktoberfest) that we didn't intend to use there. We asked in the tent if we could redeem them later, and the answer was: "Yes, at the Schnitzelwirt." So in November, we reserved a table and asked again about the vouchers. They said yes, it was possible. Then, when we went to the restaurant to pay, the vouchers weren't accepted. The food wasn't good. It was dead quiet. Never again, and find somewhere else to perform.

The restaurant is in the cellar. The food is delicious. Be sure to have a good beer with your meal. You will enjoy the food and friendly service. The staff has pride in the food and the service. Great stop for great food!

It was a pleasant surprise to find this restaurant located in the basement. With a calm atmosphere and friendly staff, we ate a spicy schnitzel that was very tasty and tried a dessert that is the house specialty.

Holy cannoli, this place is a disaster! First of all, the chicken was raw — like a raccoon in a bag. My stomach is bubbling like shaken prosecco, and I desperately want to go home. The waitresses looked exactly like my mothers (yes, plural), which awakened my inner demons, loudly demanding: “I want my wienerschnitzel back on my plate!” Overall, a bubbly yet deeply unsettling experience.

Unfortunately, the food is tasteless; we've had much better food here before. The sauces aren't homemade, and I even found powder residue from the pre-made sauce. Unfortunately, the quality has gone down and the prices have gone up.

Everything was absolutely fantastic! We were a group of 60 people there on a Saturday (a public holiday), and everything went perfectly beforehand (reservation, arrangements, etc.). The service is superb—very friendly, attentive, and professional. The food, especially the schnitzel, is freshly pounded and prepared and tastes amazing 😋. As someone from Munich, I never would have thought you could eat so well right in the middle of the pedestrian zone. Thank you so much for a wonderful day!

Attracted by the varied and inviting menu displayed outside, we decided to have lunch at this restaurant serving traditional cuisine. The restaurant is located in the basement of a building in the city center, just steps from the metro, and is accessed via a staircase. As soon as we entered, we were pleasantly surprised by the calm atmosphere, with the music kept low, making it easy to talk without raising our voices. The intimate and discreet atmosphere created a comfortable dining experience without the usual noise of many other restaurants. The service was prompt and attentive, and the food was truly exquisite! We ordered a hearty, flavorful soup, and a classic turkey Viennese (huge!) with still-hot, crispy potatoes—also a generous portion—and two very good pretzels. To finish, we enjoyed coffee and a good Assam tea. Another positive note we noted while eating was that even though it was close to closing time, several other customers—two couples and three alone—were seated without any problems and were served with the same promptness and precision by smiling and helpful waiters. The bill was perfectly average for the place, and when paying, the waiters ask how much tip you'd like to leave, offering a choice of percentages. All in all, a very positive experience; if I ever come back to Munich, I'd definitely eat here again.

A casual, down-to-earth restaurant. The waiters were attentive and friendly, but could have been a bit more attentive. The schnitzel was okay and good, but could have been prepared much more authentically and better. Nevertheless, I would probably come back.

I've been to this restaurant twice for a delicious Wiener Schnitzel during the Oktoberfest weekend. I had a great time, and the staff was friendly. I'll be back.

Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed today. The beef goulash soup was more of an appetizer, and the liver dumpling soup tasted of nothing, which didn't improve even with the addition of salt. Service was very good, and the beer was excellent and cold.

Located in a central area of Munich on a main nice road the location is the only positive connotation of this venue. We got a sit and we ordered some beers and a meal, the rude waiter took us obviously the one litre beer (most expensive) without even asking. We asked him to move inside because of the cold and they told us that wasn't possible even if the venue inside was empty. To clean and get ready to go probably? Understandable but you should communicate when someone sit that the restaurant shuts in twenty minutes. On top of that after we order our schnitzel and some pork grilled which were frozen and tasteless, at the point to think that the pork was old, they told us that the place was closing in twenty minutes only after we receive our food without giving us any time to drink that big beer that we didn't even want. The food was the worst schnitzel of my life, even the chips were tasteless and the meal quite small. How can you wrong some fries is really hard to explain to myself. A tourist scam pricey and terrible. Stay away from those places because they don't even know what hospitality suppose to mean

We happened upon the Schnitzelwirt in the Spatenhof in Munich during our August vacation. We walked around the city a bit and eventually found somewhere to enjoy a drink. The Schnitzelwirt looked inviting, so we sat down at one of the numerous tables outside the restaurant. After a quick look at the menu and a somewhat longer wait, we were able to place our order. I had a sweet red wine spritzer, which was well-mixed and tasted delicious. We lingered a bit and ordered a few more drinks, along with some pretzels as a snack. The restroom area is clean, and there's nothing to complain about here. Apart from the fact that we had to wait a while and initially thought we'd been forgotten, the service was good, and the staff were nice and friendly. All in all, I can definitely recommend the Schnitzelwirt in the Spatenhof.

The waiter was rude and treated us badly throughout our entire time at the place. I have never experienced anything like this before.

We just wanted to sit down with the family for a quick coffee. (Beer would have been cheaper.) We didn't order food, but the food at the neighboring tables looked very good. Overall, it's okay. It's a pedestrian zone, after all. A bit noisy and drafty.

We've loved coming here for years! Our insider tip when the weather's nice; you can sit and relax right in front of Karlstor in the heart of Munich/Stachus. Watch the city strollers pass by with a beer or a glass of wine and delicious food. The schnitzel selection is extensive. Vegetarians are sure to find something here, too. We're always warmly welcomed and served superbly. Feel at home and enjoy. We'll definitely be back soon!

Visiting Munich for the first time, and Aron made us feel cared for and helped remove our international traveling anxiety. Also, the food and drinks are amazingly good!!

Nope nope nope. We went here years ago and really enjoyed the big schnitzel menu and the quality was great. Not so much anymore. You are barely greated by the staff. Downstairs the ambience is mostly very dated. When I ordered a cola I was not asked the size and got served half a liter. The schnitzel menu is downsized a lot. Quality of the schnitzel was mediocre, the peppercreamsauce was bland. Mostly a tourist trap.

We came across the Schnitzlwirt by chance, as we couldn't get a seat at the Augustiner before, thank goodness. We enjoyed excellent food in the basement restaurant, a lovely atmosphere that wasn't too kitsch, and very friendly staff. It was quiet and very clean. The food came quickly and was very good value for Munich.

The restaurant is in a good location, easy to find. The interior is clean. The food is very good. I ate there two days in a row for a two-course dinner. I was always satisfied.

We were with a group of 30 people as part of an organized trip to Bavaria in this restaurant. Besides the fact that the food served remains mediocre (which we can still accept in a pinch....) the staff who serve is not friendly at all and we felt that we were absolutely not welcome in this establishment. They were eager for us to leave as quickly as possible. Moreover, when we left the restaurant they made it clear to us that we should not stay in front of the restaurant to wait for our guide or continue to consume. To my great regret, I can only regret that Bavarian hospitality has changed a lot. Restaurant to avoid.

Went there ( in to the basement) to have Schweinshaxe or Schweinshaxn, (roasted ham hock), traditional Bavarian dish On 6th April, 2025 Sunday 8 pm The dish is differently named in the menu. Cream of Asparagus soup with croutons and cream was good too. Waiter was helpful, he did put in a word about the service charge, we were ok to pay. Surprised to hear that the Bavarian chef was actually Sri Lankan.

There was a new colleague there who probably needed some help, but unfortunately, the staff weren't as attentive. There could be music playing; without it, it feels a bit like a hall. We may be dealing with the best schnitzel shop in all of Munich! A real insider tip – not overrun by tourists, but still always busy. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. We ordered a classic schnitzel with fries and salad – and what can I say: Despite the rather simple order, it was an absolute delight! The schnitzel was the perfect size, golden brown, and cooked to perfection. The wait was pleasantly short, and we were able to pass the time easily. The shop is also in a great location – only about a 10-minute walk from the main train station, right by Stachus/Karlsplatz. I used to come here often, but unfortunately, I only come rarely now, as I no longer live nearby. But every time I return, the visit is worth it. Clearly: 5 out of 5 stars!

On July 12th in the afternoon, the bearded waiter with short hair wearing a white shirt was highly disrespectful. He served our drinks without even looking at us and slammed them down on the table. Throughout the service, he had an unprofessional and inappropriate attitude, which made us very uncomfortable. If this was his idea of hospitality, perhaps he’s in the wrong line of work.

If you're looking for a wide selection of schnitzel dishes, this is the place for you. The food was delicious. Service was fast and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for its value for money.

Came here for a quick bite to eat while exploring Marienplatz. Aron was our serve, he was helpful, quick, and kind. Not super busy when we arrived which was great, he really took his time to help us figure out what we wanted and gave a ton of recommendations for local things to checkout. In the summer, they serve food on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant, but I recommend going inside. It's located in a basement with traditional Bavarian decor. Naturally, I ordered the Schinitzel, the house specialty, and it was delicious!

Nice place to grab a bite. Service was a little slow, but the waiter was able to accommodate us, as we don't naturally speak German. The food was nice. The atmosphere inside is a bit too quiet; we had to head in because it was raining outside. Nice to experience something traditional, but wouldn't make it a regular stop.

We just wanted a quick drink. I was still paying for my groceries, and my wife and daughter were already inside. My wife ordered two drinks, saying I'd be right there. The waiter then said, "What do you think, should I run twice?" He didn't bring my wife's drinks until I arrived. We then got up and went over to the Augustiner. It was absolutely delicious. Sorry, but the waiter seems to be in the wrong job. This isn't the first bad review here...

Dear Sir or Madam, On Thursday, June 20, 2025, at approximately 7:40 p.m., I had a very unpleasant experience with one of your employees in your restaurant. A male employee (no hair) suddenly came to my table, extremely rudely placed his card reader almost on top of me, and in an unfriendly tone demanded that I pay immediately – even though I was still sitting there normally and had shown no signs of wanting to leave. When I politely asked why I had to pay now, even though I wanted to stay, the employee responded loudly and angrily, saying, "What, why do you have to pay? You have to pay now." This was done in a visibly annoyed and disrespectful tone. There was no "thank you," no explanation, no courtesy – just inappropriate behavior. I found this treatment to be very rude and inappropriate. I expect a service provider to treat guests with respect – unfortunately, that wasn't the case here. I ask you to investigate this incident and report it internally. I sincerely hope that future guests don't have to experience similar things.

A good place to try typical Bavarian food.

After an hour, the waiter told me I could only stay with one espresso, and no more. I don't know if it's illegal. But it's not nice, and they said no at first. I won't be going back to the restaurant.

The food is actually OK, but the staff is dishonest. When I first paid with my credit card, I chose to give a 5% tip, but for unknown reasons, the payment failed. When I switched to another credit card, the waiter deliberately picked up the credit card machine and secretly raised the service charge to 10%. It was very cunning. I only found out when I left the store and looked at the receipt. In fact, I don't mind paying a 10% service charge, but it is hard to accept cheating customers.

Food was indeed very good. We had the munchener schnitzel. But the service was awful. If you are going during the day, maybe it is better, but in the evening (we were there at a little before 9pm) the staff is very keen to close the terrace and they begin to take stuff from the tables, including our table, where we were eating at the moment. They took my ashtrey, and also I had to lift my plate in order for them to take the table cloth.. We couldn’t eat at our own pace as they were constantly rushing us and watching us.

Great food, lovely waitress, speaks in three languages, resolved our food in no time, to be able to get our flight in time.

In prices on the menu add +€6 (2025) for each item. Atmosphere is 8/10 as is not so "Bavarian" or German, but the food earns every cent. For a decent schnitzel, one of the 3 places in Munich you have to visit.

Cheeky. For 2 diluted capuchinos they charged 13 euros. With a tip it was basically 15 euros. Even the waitress said they'd rather go and have a café somewhere else.😡
