Taverne Olive in Tübingen

Taverna Olive is an excellent Greek restaurant with friendly staff, delicious dishes and a pleasant atmosphere. It's quite tight inside, but the ambience is harmonious. A large outdoor area is available in summer. Reservations are only possible by telephone - the restaurant is always full. So go there, maybe wait a few minutes, you will also be served drinks on the “waiting bench”. The tavern is a personal favorite restaurant. My special recommendation is the "Trilogy" as a starter with tzatziki, cheese cream and eggplant salad. Update: for dessert I recommend the small tarts from the Tübingen "Zuckerbäcker" ... and exercise the next day 😉

A very atmospheric Greek tavern in the heart of Tübingen. The staff is very friendly, and the food is truly excellent. The drinks menu also leaves nothing to be desired, especially for wine lovers. Although we were informed that dogs are not allowed inside, there is plenty of seating outside with a romantic view.

The food is good, the place is very pleasant, and the price is fair. I recommend the appetizers. Some things need improvement. The beer selection is limited (unforgivable in Germany), there are no photos of the dishes for those unfamiliar with Greek food, and the bill isn't paid at the table and doesn't even include the items listed—I was simply given a price at the cashier. The waiters were polite, but they seemed robotic and lacked enthusiasm.

The food is good, but the dishes are simply €5 too expensive. The quality is good, but the quantity is too small for the price.

The food was consistently delicious and, in my opinion, typically Greek. The portions were generously sized and well-seasoned. The service was friendly and attentive.

The food was very good, but I don't think it was worth the 1.5-hour wait to be served. If you're in a hurry, I don't recommend stopping by. The waiter made a mistake with our drink order, and it took three waiters before our drink was replaced. I think they don't like tourists because some Germans came after us and were served before we ordered. The food is still good, but the service could be greatly improved.

I gave three stars because it's too expensive and not all the dishes are up to par. I went to this restaurant after a few years, the prices have increased, even the portions on the plates are larger but only because they put a lot of salad. The octopus with potatoes (€30) and the fried sardines and Greek yogurt for dessert were the best dishes. Olives are good as appetizers. They don't bring bread, we asked for pita on the side.

We visited the Olive tavern and have to say that we were pleasantly surprised. Since it was warm outside, we were able to enjoy the food outside. The restaurant is located in the beautiful old town of Tübingen with a lovely atmosphere, both outside and inside. The service was prompt, the food came on time. We had tarama as a starter, which was very tasty, and as a main course souvlaki and the mixed grill plate. It was perfectly seasoned, portioned and very tasty and fresh. The food is simply of high quality, beautifully presented and we were happy that there was no overfilled XXL plate. The portions are still large and you get full, but I can't understand some of the reviews here. The olive oil that was used was so delicious and we were able to buy a bottle afterwards, this option is also available. Price performance for and top. Parking in the old town is always difficult, but you are not far from the bus stop, otherwise you can use the Nonnenhaus parking garage. It was very nice & we will come back

The service was friendly, competent, and pleasantly unobtrusive. The bean soup with fresh white bread was very good! The minced meat rolls in tomato sauce with rice noodles and a very fresh mixed salad were a dream in terms of consistency, savory flavor, and portion size! The recommended red wine, with notes of strawberries, cherries, and a hint of vanilla, went very well with it. We were delighted and immediately thanked the chef.

Nice little Greek restaurant. The seats inside are very limited, but if the weather is nice you can also sit outside. I would still recommend reserving a table in advance, at least on weekends. The service was good, the cards came quickly and daily specials were also offered. The waiting time for drinks and food was also absolutely fine. The food was good, although I would have liked something other than ready-made fries as a side dish (the price of the meal was a bit too high for that). That's why I'm deducting a star. Otherwise, a recommendable Greek restaurant that offers a few other delicacies in addition to the well-known gyros. There is also a large selection of meze. Also noteworthy are the teas, which are prepared from fresh ingredients. All in all I was satisfied and will go again.

We're on site today, what can I say Giros orders a long wait. Ordered probably 7 times and received nothing. Unfriendly boss, unfriendly conditions, I won't go there anymore. Service and boss don't even deserve half a star

Excellent location with nice service staff and excellent food. Greek specialists. Today we had suflaki from Hands with and regional winter salad.

Nachdem wir uns für griechische Küche entschieden hatten, fiel die Wahl schnell auf die Taverne. Recht kleines Lokal, sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und mit Passion geführt. Die Gerichte sehr lecker, ob gegrillte Muscheln, die Fischcreme oder Salat mit Gyros. Da ein passender Weißwein - alles in allem ein sehr schöner Abend.

The tavern is quite small. It is therefore advisable to make a reservation. The staff is friendly and helpful. I had a leg of lamb with potatoes and a salad and the red house wine. The leg of lamb was tender and juicy. The tomato sauce was fruity with a slight spiciness. Overall, a delicious meal. The wine wasn't bad for me either. The price was ok for me too.

We had the meat platter, it was tasty and the food was prepared quickly. Prices are slightly higher (still okay for the quality). The ambience is very nice.

First-class tavern, everything fits

The chicken souvlaki was tasteless and almost unseasoned. The portions were untypically small for a Greek restaurant. The price-performance ratio was absolutely not right. The business owner was not very hospitable and tended to have a rather arrogant demeanor.

Sign on front, closed until December 2. Would be nice if they updated google maps :)

Ordered the Pulpo for €29. A single thin arm came out, probably 20 cm long. We found it pathetic for the money. The grill plate was ok, the quantity was rather limited, which is not typical for Greeks. The taste is also very average.

Das Essen war lecker, aber die Portionen fanden wir mit Blick auf die Preise zu klein. Wer nicht auf sein Geld achten muss oder will, ist hier richtig. Auf jeden Fall sitzt man draussen schön und der Service war sehr aufmerksam.

The food was ok, but nothing outstanding. However, the behavior of the waiter (restaurant manager) is unacceptable. We were sitting outside, there was a baby stroller at the table and the owner didn't care, he refused to bring a baby chair. This was our second visit, the first time the same attendant was also rude, as if we were not customers but intruders.

The food was okay (nothing special, but okay), but our experience was completely ruined by the waiter (I think he is the restaurant owner). From the beginning he acted like our baby stroller was a problem for him, he was unkind. He told us, that restaurant doesn't possess feeding chairs for babies. In my opinion, the restaurant is a totally baby (and to be honest adult too) unfriendly place, which I do not recommend to anyone.

One of my favorite places in Tübingen. Very tasty and always freshly prepared food. The owner is always helpful and polite and goes out of his way to make everyone feel comfortable. Fans of Greek food can't go wrong here.

Saved money on meat… especially with Greek!

It was a very nice summer day in Tübingen. We sat outside. The very nice waitress told us that she would be alone today. She was so friendly and did everything to our satisfaction. The food was very good. The atmosphere was very pleasant. Thank you very much for the lovely afternoon in your restaurant.

“My” “favorite Greek” since it opened. Beautifully Mediterranean and not too adapted to standard German expectations of Greek cuisine. Unfortunately, Beefteki is no longer available on the standard menu. But every visit was worth it.

I drove past it a lot and then took the courage to go in once. The place has a lot of charm. I have rarely eaten such good raspberry rhubarb cake. Highly Recommended.

War hier des Öfteren, das letzte mal vor drei Jahren. Da war der Laden noch im Aufbau und nicht nur die Portionen ehrlich, sondern auch das Personal. Inzwischen sind die Preise ins Unermessliche gestiegen, die Portionen dafür unter der GOURMET-CLOCHÉ versteckt. Ziemlich enttäuschend und da ich Ehrlichkeit sehr schätze, muss ganz besonders das Herz eines Wirtes ECHT SEIN.

We had a lovely lunch at Taverne Olive and had a sunny outdoor table. I had the baked aubergine with potatoes and my patner a grill plate. The food was delicious and we can both highly recommend the place as well as the atmosphere on the sunny outdoor area!

An absolute MUST in Tübingen!!! We were here spontaneously over the weekend and discovered "the Olive" by chance... really recommended - we were surprised by the selection of wines from a small family-run winery hilios-wines

Wir waren nur auf einen Ouzo und einen Wein, sowie ein paar Vorspeisen hier. Alle 5 Vorspeisen waren super, wir gingen gesättigt und mit einem leichten Rausch im Gesicht. Das optimale für den Mann, wenn die Frau auf einem Shopping-Trip ist.

Small, nice and above all delicious restaurant

Went there spontaneously for the Epiphany without any major expectations. The ambience is relatively “simple” but absolutely authentic. Service was very attentive and friendly, but the real highlight was the food. It's rare to eat such great meat from a Greek, really sensational. I even ate the tzatziki separately and not with the meat so as not to dilute the taste any further!

Wir hatten Lammhaxe bestellt. Das Essen kam zügig und war schön angerichtet. Die Haxe war butter zart und hat sehr gut geschmeckt.

The food is clearly overpriced for its quality. The dishes are unimagiantive and taste as blander reminders of greek food. T'he service however is very friendly and made the experience bareable.

Sotto un temporale capitiamo per caso in questo piccolo ristorante. Accoglienza calorosa da parte del titolare e professionalità della cameriera. Abbiamo preso piatti naturalmente greci, in particolare molto buono l’agnello con salsa tsatsiki e patate arrosto. Birra buona (siamo in Germania!). Bagni lillipuziani ma pulitissimi. Sehr schönes Ambiente in der Tübinger Altstadt. Der Service war sehr zuvorkommend und die frittierten Sardellen spitze. Ebenso der Frappè. Da sind wir nicht das letzte Mal gewesen. Absolut empfehlenswert. Gestern Abend waren wir hier essen. Geschmacklich ein echtes Highlight. Runde Würzung. Der Lachs war auf den Punkt gebracht. Ebenfalls gut abgeschmeckt. Wer hier nicht hergeht verpasst etwas.

Essen leider mittelmäßig. Mein Hähnchen war nicht durch und die Qualität minderwertig. Es wurde nochmal gebraten aber schmeckte trotzdem komisch. Sehr sehnig und wässrige Konsistenz. Der Chef lieferte leider eine sehr plumpe Antwort. Das ist halt die Qualität die er vom Metzger erhält. Dieser wiederum würde es nur zukaufen und das sind halt diese aufgespritzen Hühner. Das möchte der Kunde eigentlich nicht als Antwort hören :) Ich musste das Souvlaki komplett bezahlen und es gab nicht mal nen Schnaps aufs Haus als Entschuldigung. Im selben Atemzug stritt der Chef mit einem Gast dass es alle hören konnten. Ebenso gab es keine kleinen Portionen (auch nicht auf Nachfrage - keine Kinder und Senioren-Portionen). Bedienung war sehr freundlich aber auch nicht so auf Zack. Leider kein griechischer Abend wie wir ihn gewünscht haben :( hier fehlt irgendwie die griechische Gastfreundschaft.

In visita a questa bellissima cittá storica ci siamo fermati per pranzo. Personale molto gentile ed accogliente, ci hanno fatti sentire a casa. Cucina greca molto buona con carni fresche preparate con cura.ottimi gli spiedini di pollo e tenerissimi e gustosi i Biftekakia. Lo raccomando se avete voglia di un pasto gustoso e veloce.

Kleines Lokal mit guter griechischer Küche. Schönes Ambiente. Hier kann man gemütlich sitzen. Schön ist es auch, wenn es draußen geöffnet ist. Gute Weine. Freundliche Bedienung. Was will man mehr? Leider oft sehr frequentiert. Es empfiehlt sich, frühzeitig zu reservieren.

Essen ist lecker, jedoch extrem lieblos angerichtet. Ansonsten soweit in Ordnung! Toiletten sehr sauber! Wir würden nochmal kommen.

Klein fein - da geh ich wieder rein... Wir hatten Glück, dass wir einen Platz ergattern konnten. Das Lokal hat wenig Sitzplätze. Daher würde sich wohl eine Reservation lohnen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich - teils wohl noch neu und unsicher - dies wurde aber mit einem netten Lächeln wett gemacht. Das Essen war vorzüglich. Wir genossen es in vollen Zügen. Das Ambiente des Lokals ist auch süss.

Durchschnittliche Küche. Für Veganer sehr wenig Auswahl. Der Platz zum draußen Sitzen ist herausragend schön, drinnen ist die Atmosphäre etwas kühl.

While the location and setting is fine, I found the food to be average at best. The service was extremely slow and our server had a surly and defensive attitude no matter what the request. Luckily there are many other local options in town to turn to next time.

Der Ober quatscht nach Übergabe der Speisekarte und einer zwischenzeitlichen Ankündigung gleich die Bestellung aufzunehmen lieber mit anderen Gästen und lässt uns insgesamt 20 Min warten bis wir schließlich gehen. Wahrscheinlich hatten wir einfach nur Pech...aber das Leben ist zu kurz für so einen Quatsch. Haben dann lecker Falafel in der Kichererbse gegessen...

Ein Restaurant in Tübingen das ich jedem nur empfehlen kann. Schönes Ambiente, nettes Personal. Regionales Essen und die Qualität hat man raus geschmeckt. Ich empfehle den Lammteller! 😋
