Faros - an ouzo philosophy in Tübingen

Hello everyone, I recently visited the Faros restaurant. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the food and service are excellent. However, it's best to reserve a table on weekends.

Very tasty food. Great service and everyone very accommodating. Great for sitting outside in nice weather. You should order three dishes per person. Not for those on a budget.

For the price, the decor is a bit cold and uncomfortable!!! The price-performance ratio is over the top. The meat and fries covered in oregano weren't tasty. The menu was too minimalist. But we were there once, which was enough!

The concept is especially great for groups, as you usually order lots of small things that are then eaten together, rather than everyone ordering the same dish. The food is simply delicious every time; I could rave about it. The selection is extensive, and you can almost always find something to suit your needs, even if you have intolerances or specific preferences.

An evening at Faros is simply wonderful! The service is very attentive and warm, and you feel immediately welcome from the first contact. The food was outstanding, and the entire stay was perfect, like a dream.

It was an amazing experience to be o this restaurant! Totally different than other ones that we can find in Germany. Much more than a plate with meet and full with french fries... Here you have a very fine environment, delicate & delicious dishes (almost comparable to Spanish tapas in small portions), the waiters are very friendly. Definitely recommend it!!!

We were very disappointed with the food. It was beautifully presented but unfortunately lacking in flavor. We enjoyed the chicken souvlaki, but the side dishes and mezze were very disappointing. A truly great restaurant, with a lovely atmosphere, professional waiters, and delicious food. Anyone who wants to experience authentic Greek cuisine should definitely visit Faros. The only thing that could be improved is the cocktails. Unfortunately, their flavor can't yet compete with the food. Still, 10 out of 10!

The food was truly delicious, and we felt like we were transported to the Aegean Sea. The two of us had the fava beans, olives, gigantes, vine leaves, rosemary potatoes, oyster mushrooms, fried sardines, and plenty of pita. All of it was high quality and expertly prepared. Plus, an attentive, friendly, young team. Highly recommended.

I was in Tübingen yesterday for business and was looking for a nearby restaurant. I got a table right away without a reservation. The service was first-class, the food phenomenal! I'll definitely be back. Thank you for your hospitality.

If I could give more stars, I definitely would! The ambiance is beautiful, reminiscent of a vacation in Greece. The service is very friendly, attentive, and fast. And the food is simply fantastic! Anyone looking for a special experience will definitely be happy here.

It's great at Faros, but it also comes at a price.

Sitting there was great, and the service was also very good. I had a bifteki: absolutely terrible and way too expensive. Any standard Greek restaurant could do better. It's a shame, but the service was really good, and so was the atmosphere.

Outstanding!! Absolutely fantastic location. Great atmosphere. The old observatory amidst modern institutes, surrounded by trees, lights, and comfortable tables, perfect summer! The interior is also very stylish and cozy. The food was perfect! We have many delicious comparisons, but the zucchini fries, bifteki, and taramas are uniquely delicious. Basically, everything on our table was delicious! The guys and girls are extremely nice, fast, and accommodating. Great team outfit!!! Discovered another unique place that we will visit often!

A very disappointing visit, never again! Unfortunately, our visit to Faros was one of the worst service experiences I've ever had. Given the rather high prices, we would have at least expected to be able to customize the side dishes to our liking, but that wasn't possible. In our case, it would have been enough to swap the parsnip puree for sweet potato puree. Instead, we were simply told that the puree could be omitted, but the price would remain the same. No alternative, no flexibility. Then we had to wait significantly longer for our food than the guests who came after us. And as we feared: We didn't like the puree. Eating the chicken without a side dish was far too dry and inedible. The waitress clearly saw that we left the plates almost untouched, without any reaction or question. Even when paying, not a single word of concern about whether something was wrong. We paid €70, left with empty stomachs, and felt completely ignored. Simply unacceptable for a restaurant in this price range. What a shame, Faros – we definitely won't be back.

…don't give smokers a seat! The food isn't conventional, but rather pleasantly surprising. Unfortunately, the price/performance ratio is also surprising. The tables are too close together, which is particularly annoying when someone is smoking at the next table. A no-go! When asked about this, the staff argued that they can't afford to do without this kind of clientele. In my opinion, the priorities here are wrong, with enjoyment and quality taking a back seat.

Faros – Finally, a Real Greek Restaurant in Germany! As a Greek, I've been searching for a restaurant in Germany for a long time that serves genuine Greek cuisine – and not what many people here mistakenly believe to be Greek. At Faros, I finally found exactly that: authentic food, genuine Greek flair, and an atmosphere that immediately reminded me of a good taverna somewhere on an island or in Thessaloniki. Finally, a place without gyros, which is served everywhere here, but is known as fast food in Greece. And thank goodness, no "Metaxa sauce," which simply doesn't exist in Greece! That's a German invention that only serves to disguise inferior meat – such a thing has no place in a real Greek restaurant, and Faros knows this very well. Instead, you get authentically prepared dishes with high-quality ingredients, fine mezedes, superbly seasoned meat, fresh fish, olive oil, and herbs, just like those used in our homeland. Everything is simply as it should be – honest, fresh, and full of flavor. For anyone who wants to experience authentic Greek cuisine, Faros is the right place. Here, the food is cooked like home, with soul and tradition – and not adapted to mass tastes. I'll definitely be back. Bravo sas! 🇬🇷

A nice place with poor service and overpriced food. The fish dish was completely overcooked. The food didn't arrive at the table at the same time. What's the point of getting a main course without ordering a side dish if you have to wait 15 minutes for it? Plus, the taste wasn't particularly Greek. The tapas were okay, but maybe not at the Greek restaurant in the future.

Lovely restaurant with great outdoor seating for the summer! Super delicious and fresh food. 100% recommend the feta and honey parcel, it was divine. The bread is fresh and the staff are so lovely. We got caught in the rain and they were quick to move us inside.

We came to this restaurant with a large group on recommendation. The ambience and location are truly beautiful, as is the interior design - modern, stylish, and stylish. Unfortunately, they have a new concept here where they no longer serve individual main courses with side dishes, but instead you have to order each part of a meal separately. Many restaurants in other big cities do this these days, but here the guest is always left with the feeling that it's all about making money. Because if you have to order all the components of the meal individually, you can quickly end up paying €40 for a meal. I don't know if it's supposed to be some kind of Greek tapas. Oh well. We ordered: a souflakli skewer, for example, costs €4.90, two pieces of pita bread €2.50, some fries €8, etc., so you have to put together your own plate. The prerequisite for this concept is that all the components of my meal are at the table at the same time, because I don't want to eat my meat skewer without my side dishes. Unfortunately, the service didn't manage that. The fish was also cooked thoroughly, so that the egg white oozed out. A guest rightly complained about this, and you'd expect the kitchen to prepare it again immediately (since the side dishes were already on the table), but that took over 20 minutes. By then, of course, the side dishes had already been eaten. This shows that the service is neither attentive nor experienced. The tzatziki had no garlic, no flavor at all, and the stuffed eggplant tasted of nothing. There was no salt, pepper, or other spices. The vine leaves inside the rice were completely tasteless; the leaves were still too hard. The bottle of water cost €7.50. If the rest of the food had been good, I would have been able to cope. This is simply not Greek cuisine. And we've visited some good Greek restaurants. The only thing that remains at the end of the day is poor service with rude responses from the waitress, and over €100 for two people for a meal that has nothing to do with Greek authenticity or Greek cuisine. And then there's this concept, which doesn't work here because of the poor service. Extremely disappointing, and I can't understand the many good reviews at all. There was no gyros etc. on the menu either. All the classics were missing. And the most surprising thing is that you even have to pay for the ouzo at the end. That has never happened to me in Greece or in a Greek restaurant in over 50 years of my life. That is not Greek hospitality either. It's a posh restaurant for young people who have perhaps never been to Greece and obviously don't know Greek food. It is certainly a gold mine for the owner, because the place was full and I have absolutely no idea why. We actually wouldn't recommend this restaurant to our friends or acquaintances. A real shame!

First of all, we received a very friendly and welcoming welcome. The decor is modern, but also somehow Greek-Mediterranean and cozy. The location, an old observatory, is already special. The service was truly exceptionally friendly. We felt completely at home :) The drinks selection is just right, and the cocktails are delicious. And the food – it was a feast for the palate! Especially because you (I) could eat something you don't get everywhere. You simply order a selection and then take what you like – in Greek. It was fun – we chatted and snacked here and there – thanks for the great evening!

The food in this modern Greek restaurant is truly outstanding. What was particularly impressive was the large selection of tapas. Every dish was tasty, freshly prepared and beautifully presented. The flavors were authentic but not too heavy, just the right mix of traditional Greek cuisine and a modern, light touch.

Five of us had dinner at Faros on Easter Sunday. Three out of five vomited several times a few hours later due to food poisoning and spent the next day in bed. I can only warn against eating here! And according to the rescue team we had to call that night, this was probably not the first incident in this restaurant.

I was in Tübingen on business and Faros was recommended to me. The food tasted great and the portion size was quite manageable. I missed gyros or tzatziki on the menu. You put together your own menu here; the main course and side dishes are ordered separately. Therefore, I would recommend the restaurant for groups rather than individuals. If there are several people, you have the opportunity to exchange ideas with each other. What I also missed was the ouzo at the end. It's actually part of Greek food and I would have expected that given the name of the restaurant.

Das Restaurant befindet sich in einer ehemaligen Sternwarte. Sowohl der Innen- als auch der Aussenbereich sind sehr schön ausgestattet und animieren zum Verweilen. “Stay wild” was written as a concept on the walls in the restaurant! Hard to believe in the muted, pseudo-natural ambience with a checkerboard pattern floor, the only element that showed something of unrest due to its structure. The external surroundings of the restaurant were also more reminiscent of a housing estate for hospital staff or some kind of government building. In the middle of which sat a remaining relic of a bygone era, with a rather shy and dimly lit sign pointing out that this is Faros (stay wild?). The all-Indian service in the restaurant, dressed in high-necked, natural-colored “jogging suits” with a tray to take orders, showed little Greek warmth, let alone wildness. Pay in cash? No, absolutely impossible, where are you thinking... how much the Greeks love their cash... The rope structure chairs were slumped down and strangling the leg veins. The food was lukewarm (not a problem in summer, but it is when the outside temperature is 5 degrees), the fat in which the eggplant was fried would have had to be replaced. What Parmesan is doing on fries in a Greek restaurant remains another mystery (maybe that's “stay wild”)? No fresh herbs, food pre-cooked and warmed up in the microwave! For just under 45 euros without Greek music and love of life, I don't have to have that again. The over-attentive jogging tray staff will be able to do without my presence…

Eat delicious food in a beautiful atmosphere. The Faro is a nice location in the observatory, good mix of modern and cozy. Friendly service. The concept is to order several dishes and share them with each other. We had, among other things, zucchini fries (very tasty), stuffed eggplant (tasted good), patates (could be a little crispier, but they're not fries), shrimp, liver (very well seasoned, could have been fried a little less), delicious Tzatziki and cheese croquettes. We were very satisfied, but it wasn't cheap either. Unfortunately there was no sign of the ouzo philosophy, there was no ouzo on the house (which has never happened to me at a Greek restaurant). Too bad.

People find you very bad. Better signage would be good and lighting on the building or lettering. The toilets should be checked and repaired more often. The broken paper dispenser and in the toilet don't make a nice impression. Prices of the food are very expensive, if you eat here for two it's €50 p.p. otherwise you won't get full.

A wonderful place to enjoy truly excellent Greek cuisine in tapas form. There are many vegetarian options and there should be something for everyone.

Nette Location, Essen mittelmäßig, Service gehetzt - Konzept vs Genießen ?!? Generell ist die simultane Lieferung aller gewählten Speisen fraglich, wo bleibt das kulinarische Erlebnis. Geschmack nicht überragend, Preisleistung sollte überdacht werden.

Wir hatten uns mit Freunden im Gebäude unterhalb der Sternwarte getroffen, um dieses Restaurant auszuprobieren: Wir waren begeistert! Der Chef hatte uns empfohlen eine große Mischung an verschiedenen Speisen zu bestellen, dass jeder von dem sehr großen Angebot etwas probieren konnte. Jeder von uns hatte mindestens 2 Speisen bestellt. Diese sind sehr gut zubereitet und schön serviert. Die Nachspeisen sind auch sehr lecker. Das Restaurant hat eine sehr angenehme Atmosphäre. Da gehen wir sicherlich nochmals hin und können jedes Mal wieder ein "Stück" Griechenlands genießen.
