Faros - an ouzo philosophy in Tübingen

Food, service and the ambience perfect 👌🏻

Eat delicious food in a beautiful atmosphere. The Faro is a nice location in the observatory, good mix of modern and cozy. Friendly service. The concept is to order several dishes and share them with each other. We had, among other things, zucchini fries (very tasty), stuffed eggplant (tasted good), patates (could be a little crispier, but they're not fries), shrimp, liver (very well seasoned, could have been fried a little less), delicious Tzatziki and cheese croquettes. We were very satisfied, but it wasn't cheap either. Unfortunately there was no sign of the ouzo philosophy, there was no ouzo on the house (which has never happened to me at a Greek restaurant). Too bad.

People find you very bad. Better signage would be good and lighting on the building or lettering. The toilets should be checked and repaired more often. The broken paper dispenser and in the toilet don't make a nice impression. Prices of the food are very expensive, if you eat here for two it's €50 p.p. otherwise you won't get full.

A wonderful place to enjoy truly excellent Greek cuisine in tapas form. There are many vegetarian options and there should be something for everyone.

So first of all the food is great and so is the ambience and the staff. I was a regular guest for many years and even celebrated my birthday at Faros. But the reason I don't go there anymore is because there's no cash anymore. And that just doesn't work at all. It's not that I have anything against card payments. But that's my decision. You'll have enough business without me. But I wanted to make this known because I find it a shame and a response might be helpful. Especially as a restaurateur, you should know that not having any cash is not good in the long term. Keyword tips. The day is coming when they will be taxed by people like the bosses of Faros. Change that and show solidarity with the service employees. Even if it causes inconvenience. Tips are not taxed only because most of them are paid in cash. Think about it.

The unique outlook of the Faros really stand out from the industrial park of Tubigen area. The Mediterranean cuisine really tasty. I like the Souvlaki best, both the Pork & Chicken. The grilled Octopus was so soft and nicely marinated and grilled aroma alone was mouth watering.

The food tastes absolutely fantastic and the ambience invites you to take a short vacation! We got a place even though we didn't have a reservation - great! Only the staff could be a little more on their toes overall.

Schönes Restaurant mit einem idyllischen Garten, der sich besonders für Sommerabende eignet. Allerdings gibt es ein kleines Problem mit Wespen, was den Aufenthalt im Freien etwas stört. Das Essen ist lecker, aber auch als etwas hochpreisig. Alles in allem wirkt es dennoch wie ein netter Ort für einen entspannten Abend, wenn man die Wespen im Griff hat!

In the observatory, surroundings are very beautiful. The food looks nice, but doesn't taste the same.

The concept is basically to serve Greek tapas. Not bad, but some dishes (e.g. the eggplant) are relatively tasteless, as are the fries. However, the bread and the cheese variety were very good. What was very sobering, however, was the completely overpriced price. Unfortunately, nothing was done about the wasps and mosquitoes; they were out in droves and made it difficult for the customers to eat in peace. The location and the ambience were very nice.

Pleasant night atmosphere. The garden space and the quick service of the waiters is very good. The food didn't take long to arrive.

Location nice, service & food okay, prices absurdly high. For 2 people over 100 euros without any special features, with small portions and without alcoholic drinks or other frills can simply no longer be justified by the generally increased prices, the quality or the ambience.

this place was in my list for a long time! for a calm summer it was the best decision to go there! I really enjoyed the meals, also atmosphere, staff was friendly and nice. dishes were really good, starting with feta cheese and seafood, everything was incredibly delicious! lemonade was very tasty as well!

Have wanted to come here for a long time. Now the time had come and we went out to dinner with friends in the evening. And we were really excited. The atmosphere has something of a beach restaurant. If there was a promenade that led past Faros, we could think we were back on Gran Canaria or something similar. The food was really delicious. The service was friendly. So it wasn't the last time we were here.

Greek tapas. Good selection, perfect taste and absolutely nice and courteous service. Always happy to come here. Best when it's warm and you can enjoy your "vacation" in front of the restaurant. Highly recommended.

Vorab: Was hier überzeugt ist die wirklich wunderschöne Location. Man fühlt sich wirklich wie im Urlaub. Das Essen ist nicht günstig und für diesen Preis würde ich es allenfalls als okay bezeichnen. Die Portionen sind nicht sehr groß und oft fehlt das gewisse Etwas. Gewürz fehlt eindeutig bei allen Gerichten. Der Service war freundlich aber nicht super aufmerksam. Man musste schon aktiv nachfragen wenn man etwas möchte. Die Rechnung für zwei belief sich auf 100€, 5 Tapas, ein Hauptgericht und ein Dessert. Zwei Aperitifs und eine Flasche Wasser.

Very friendly and courteous staff. Very fine Mediterranean food, ideal for sharing and tasting. Even on hot days there is a pleasant atmosphere outside in the shade of old trees - so-called COZY places. Will come back

I liked everything! delicious! The only thing missing: man is used to eating and wanting from what he sees with his eyes. When you come for the first time you don't know what your dish will be like. and the blind choice doesn't always line up with what you wanted. Therefore your dishes are beautiful and if the menu had a photo of the dish it would be great. and I would know for sure that I remembered it because it was a dish in the picture that I would try again! We went out to eat today, but it was a failed attempt. A whopping 5 euros were charged for a piece of skewered meat. This is probably the purest rip-off. There was hardly any seasoning and the skewers only came when asked! The staff just watched you and treated you unfriendly. Price-performance is not right here at all. I definitely can't recommend this!

With very little effort, a very nice ambience "in the industrial area" is created. The food is mostly ok, not spectacular. Comparatively small portions at increased prices. If you spend >100€ you don't even get a glass of tap water with your ouzo, but have to pay €7.50 for a bottle of still water. Everything very commercialized. The service is nice, cash payment is not possible.

The food is really very good, Greek cuisine, high standard. The ambience outside is great, you feel like you're on vacation, but the noise inside is too loud. I'll definitely come back again

Der mit Abstand beste Grieche im Umkreis. Authentische griechische Küche, top Qualität und der Garten ist fantastisch. Man fühlt dich wie am Meer wenn noch eine kleine Bride weht. Perfekt für jeden Geschmack ob Fleisch/Fisch/vegetarisch/vegan: jeder wird fündig.

Great atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, up by the observatory. With a little imagination you can almost feel like you're at the sea on one of the Greek islands. Unique! The service is top, all employees are friendly, helpful and exude a courteous calm. The food is structured like small tapas but the individual plates/dishes are rich. We managed very well with 3 pieces per person. The selection is large, so I would like to go there again to test everything. Because: it tastes great!! The price is high, that's for sure. But visiting a restaurant is something special and the quality is right. Tip: visit in summer! The outside area is mega!

Food is always very tasty. Never had anything bad there. When the house is full it sometimes takes a little longer, but it's within reason. Dishes are definitely more expensive compared to other Greek restaurants in Tübingen, but it's worth it. Some dishes are innovative and not like the run-of-the-mill Greek. The only real drawback: the acoustics are terrible. Nothing is done to ensure insulation/good acoustics and the restaurant is often very busy. You scream at each other for half the evening. It is not possible to have a normal, calm conversation. If you're there with very loud people, it works though😅

Anyone who has ever planned a wedding knows how much stress this time is associated with. We decided to go to Faros for our civil wedding afterwards. With 45 guests it was a larger event, and the additional group of 200 guests were also catered for at the same time, but the team at Faros managed everything perfectly. We continue to be overwhelmed by the outstanding hospitality and professionalism we received there. Since 5/5 stars are not enough, here are a few words: We received great support in advance: our cake and decorations were safely stored, and on the day the tables were beautifully set. The team always thought along and helped us in all matters without us having to worry about anything. On the evening of the celebration itself, we were warmly welcomed right from the start. The staff was incredibly attentive, friendly and always available without being intrusive. As the bride and groom, we were only able to fully relax that day and enjoy the evening to the fullest when we arrived at Faros, as the team took all the work and tension away from us. Even when it briefly rained, the response was lightning-fast and professional so that the celebration could continue undisturbed. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was stylish and inviting, and the entire organization left nothing to be desired. The team at Faros turned our special day into an unforgettable celebration and for that we are eternally grateful. Wonderful Greek restaurant that feels truly out of space. Sand floor, umbrellas, great clothing of waiters, nice tapas style food. It is in a new developed area with larger buildings but doesn’t feel like it.

In terms of price, Faros is definitely above average but still a place where I like to go. The wine selection impresses me every time and the food is very tasty. Every now and then you wait a little longer for service.

This has nothing to do with a Greek restaurant. Anyone who has ever been to Greece can understand it. What I found to be the biggest shame were the prices and the portions. Far too small and too expensive. Side dishes must be ordered separately. Food was okay, otherwise not recommended. If you want to pay 50 euros to fill yourself up, have fun.

The food at Faros was very good, especially the cheese croquettes. The ambience is nice and gives you a holiday feeling. The location is also great. The staff was partly friendly and attentive, but partly unmotivated and ignorant. Negatives: There are only tapas dishes, no regular menu. Reservations are only possible for 2-3 hours and some dishes are overpriced. Overall a mixed experience.

Atmosphäre und Location wirklich hübsch. Allerdings stimmt das Preis-Leistungs-Verhätlnis überhaupt nicht. Die Portionen sind zu klein und für „tapas“ wirklich teuer. Wir haben zu zweit 80€ bezahlt und waren noch hungrig.

As a discerning restaurant-goer, I can warmly recommend Faros. The food and service were great. Every employee was very friendly, polite and attentive. The food is well prepared and is of great quality. Everything tasted great too. I really like the wine and drink selection.

The food was ok, but unfortunately the prices were out of proportion to the food on offer. Far too expensive for what is offered!! Unfortunately, the “ambience” is none, very simple furnishings. Actually more of a canteen flair. We won't be coming back. Service was friendly.

The food is delicious, the staff is one of the friendliest and most accommodating I have ever encountered in restaurants, the ambience is very bright and friendly. Unfortunately it is very expensive for the small portions you get. In a tapas bar the portions should actually be big enough for everyone to get something, but that was difficult with 3/4 dishes even though there were only two of us.

A very special restaurant, starting with the round shape of the room (observatory), the table reservation via WhatsApp (I find it extremely practical!) to the many interesting dishes. The idea is like Spanish tapas, i.e. order lots of small things and eat them together. There are also plenty of vegetarian options. It's not exactly cheap, but it's worth the price. Very friendly staff. To recommend!

WOW, this restaurant is just amazing. Great atmosphere, great people and great food. You have revolutionized Greek dining in Germany. However, I think it's a shame that there are hardly any vegan alternatives on the menu, e.g. an alternative to tzatziki, not only for vegans but also lactose-intolerant people. Since plant-based alternatives have taken over Tübingen in particular, I was very surprised. Therefore only 3 stars instead of 5.

Ok, currently difficult to reach as there is a construction site around the location, but it's worth it. The best Greek I've been to in a long time. Nice in the observatory and I hope for the summer the terrace looked very nice. I was able to try a lot that evening and everything was really great. Next time I'll take pictures

Yesterday evening I was in Greece for what felt like 3 hours. Top food, delicious drinks, friendly service, Greek music and loud guests 😊. I felt completely at home!

I recently ate at Faros, a Greek restaurant in Tübingen, and was thoroughly impressed. The restaurant had a modern and inviting atmosphere that pleasantly reminded me of Ocean Drive. The food was a real treat: authentic, fresh and of remarkable quality. Each dish reflected the passion and traditional values ​​of Greek cuisine. The service was friendly and accommodating, which rounded out the entire experience. A clear recommendation for anyone looking for an authentic Greek dining experience in Tübingen.

The food surprised me very positively. The map is not very transparent which makes it difficult for someone who has never been there. 3 different cards with squiggly writing. I find it a bit inconvenient that reservations are only possible via WhatsApp. There is currently a construction site around the building, so you have to park a few meters away. This can certainly be a problem when there is more going on.

I don't understand the positive reviews here!? I imagined the furnishings to be much nicer. The service was so-so. We were there with our children and she got annoyed when we asked too many questions. The food arrived little by little. It was cold at times. Very small portions! I've never eaten such a bad Pomeranian! Everywhere! Oregano was even put on the olives so you didn't taste anything else! Especially for the price, the food is far from good and tasty.

Reservierung per WhatsApp hat gut geklappt. Derzeit ist das Restaurant eine "Insel" inmitten von Baustellen, aber dafür ist es umso gemütlicher, sobald man drinnen ist. Nettes Konzept mit den Tapas, uns hat alles geschmeckt. Preis-Leistung völlig ok.

Location ist sehr schön gemacht, die Kellner bemüht und das Essen hat mir auch geschmeckt. Preislich eher im oberen Bereich.

ZU TEUER UND SEHR KLEINE PORTIONEN

Dies ist ein wunderschönes griechisches Restaurant mit einer wahnsinns Atmosphäre! Die Lichter, die Gestaltung und die Tische sind sehr schön hergerichtet. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und spricht teilweise auch griechisch. Unsere griechische Nachbarin hat uns eingeladen und wir teilten uns zu sechst viele einzelne Gerichte. Da 2 von uns Vegetarier sind, bestellten wir zu 90% vegetarisch. Ich war noch nie in einem Restaurant das so viele vegetarische und super gute Gerichte anbot! Auch Cocktails gibt es viele! --> Absolute Empfehlung! (Billig ist es allerdings nicht.)

Wir fühlen uns bei jedem Besuch drinnen und draußen wohl, eigentlich draußen sogar noch wohler, denn drinnen isch’s manchmal a bissle laut :-). Draußen sitzt es sich wunderbar. Das Essen schmeckt uns sehr gut, vor allem Tiri Saganaki, die Zucchini Fries und die gegrillten Austernpilze (wir sind Vegetarier), aber auch die gefüllten Paprika, die Weinblätter und, und, und ….. Auch das Personal ist sehr freundlich, kurz: wie kommen immer wieder und haben das Faros auch schon einigen weiter empfohlen.

Das Faros ist einfach was besonderes!!! Es ist auf jeden Fall ein Geheimtip und einen Besuch wert. Man muss einfach mal dort gewesen sein. Das Essen ist äußerst lecker Das Personal freundlich und die Preise angemessen was will man mehr. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen!!

Im großen und ganzen ist das Faros ein tolles Restaurant. Ich finde es in der Zwischenzeit ziemlich teuer, was nicht unbedingt Kritik sein soll. Nur eine Feststellung und Beobachtung der Entwicklung der Preise. Es ist ja alles teuer geworden… Essen schmeckt hervorragend, Service ist freundlich und aufmerksam, Ambiente ist toll. Manchmal ist es ein bisschen zu laut. Unterhalten sollte man sich schon noch können.

Leckeres Essen, große Auswahl auch an vegetarischen Gerichten. Definitiv einen Besuch wert. Tolle Location und heraus ragender Service. Am besten immer einen Tisch vorbestellen.

Tolle Location und leckeres Essen. Wir hatten 12 verschiedene Tapas und alle waren gut. Die Musik war unangenehm laut. Mich hat das gestört. Eine Unterhaltung war nur möglich, wenn man schreit. Wen das nicht stört, OK. Ich würde aus diesem Grund nicht wieder hin gehen.

Was für ein faszinierendes Lokal. Schönes Ambiente. Leckeres Essen. Unglaublich freundliches Personal. Man kann hier leider nur fünf Sterne geben. Ganz toll!

Update, 1.10.23: Wieder dort gewesen, mit 8 Personen, alle gleichzeitig bestellt, zwischen Essen für erste Person und letztem Essen vergingen 1:30h. Da sind die ersten fertig, bevor der letzte am Tisch sein Essen bekommt. Die Küche bekommt es einfach nicht auf die Reihe. Essen ist lecker, Personal sehr freundlich und bemüht. Leider muss ich einen Punkt abziehen, wir hatten den Tisch nur für 2h, alles gleichzeitig bestellt, zwischen erstem Essen und letztem Essen auf dem Tisch 30min Zeit vergangen.
