Taverna Melina in München

We went there for the fourth time yesterday because the food is simply delicious, and the service is super friendly and fast. We made a reservation for six people an hour in advance, and it was worth it.

Maitre D was rude and a complete tool. The other servers were very nice. Lamb chops cooked through to beyond medium and generally very little to commend in terms of quality of the food in general. I wouldn't return nor can I recommend it, and I eat out 180 days of the year as a full time traveler.

Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, and very reasonable prices. Highly recommended! One of the must-try dishes is the Zucchinipuffer — crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. A great place for a relaxed and satisfying meal.

A fantastic restaurant experience. Eating at this restaurant is pure joie de vivre. The entire staff exudes joy, warmth, and authenticity. You're seated quickly, served, and within just a few minutes(!), your food arrives. We had beetroot salad, feta cheese spread, grilled cheese, pita bread, and fries. Only the bread was way too salty; the rest was very good! We finished off with delicious Greek yogurt with honey on the house. This restaurant is definitely not to be missed.

Unfortunately, I can't agree with the extremely positive reviews. The table was only allowed to be occupied for exactly two hours, after which we were asked to leave, even though there were free seats. The food was served 3 minutes (!) after ordering, and the gyro wasn't very crispy. I found it cheeky that the small farmer's salad was charged €9.80 (a large one was €4 more), and it was extremely dry! A regular side dish costs about €5. It's a shame, I really expected more!

A very cozy atmosphere; you walk in and feel very comfortable. The hospitality shines through in all the waiters. The food was excellent! From fish to meat, everything was beautifully prepared. We'd love to come back!

We received very friendly and courteous service. We thoroughly enjoyed our chosen dishes: beautifully filleted fish, delicate, inventive salads, and delicious grilled and oven-baked vegetables. The atmosphere was great for a Monday evening, so much so that the volume, plus the background music from the speakers, was even a bit too loud. They kindly opened the windows because the air was getting stuffy with so many guests.

We were absolutely thrilled! In addition to the delicious food, we were particularly impressed by the service. The entire team was friendly, attentive, and yet pleasantly unobtrusive. Very friendly staff, a cheerful atmosphere, salad, tzatziki, and grilled vegetables were good. The grilled dish (Kalypso), on the other hand, was unfortunately disappointing: the grilled dish arrived about 15 minutes after ordering, and the meat had excessive grill marks—blackened in places—and was lukewarm inside (Bifteki). The souvlaki was very dry. Was the meat pre-grilled so that it could be briefly put back on the grill later, and the food could be brought to the table quickly? I don't mind waiting for good food.

The food was very good and they also brought us ouzo and a yogurt dessert on the house. Very good moussaka!! The waiters were kind, although sometimes too pushy. That's why I give one less star to the service.

Super tasty and cozy tavern. The food is really delicious (we actually only shared a starter) and the staff were extremely nice. Recommend the zucchini fritters and the wild mushroom salad. Had the three starters with bread - which were also delicious. There is a point deduction because they charged €50 for the Cremant - but it costs around €12 to purchase. There was an ouzo on the house in between. There was also dessert afterwards

One of the best Greek restaurants in Munich! Beautiful location near Gärtnerplatz with a sweet tavern atmosphere. The meat dishes are excellent and very generously portioned. Rounds of ouzo were always on the house. If you're arriving by car, be prepared for a long search for a parking space (as is common in this neighborhood).

Quo vadis Melina? - definitely not a recommendation anymore, or did we just have a really bad day? We've eaten at Melina with friends many times, and it's always been nice and good. The food was never as outstanding as some have described; there are much better Greek restaurants in Munich, but the "overall package" was always good. Not so on Saturday a week ago. We had a table until 8:30 p.m. - but at 7:45 p.m. the waiter came and told us to leave. The wine we had ordered had to be drunk quickly. We paid by debit card at 8:07 p.m. (hence the exact time) and were out the door at 8:10 p.m. - in my opinion, it's outrageous and has nothing to do with the much-praised Greek hospitality. Incidentally, the table for four people was a disgrace. It was right next to the service counter, where someone was constantly fetching something from the wait staff. The food was lukewarm and, strangely enough, arrived minutes after ordering—everything was probably already prepared. Good isn't exactly good! Neither the meat nor the fish/seafood were particularly tasty. For us, it was probably our last visit to Melina for a long time.

Nice trendy Greek restaurant. Attentive staff. Nice ambiance! The meat is tasty, but a bit dry. Side dishes cost extra. No salad with the main course. In return, you get a few free ouzo.

I recently had dinner at this Greek restaurant – and what can I say? The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was very inviting, but what really made the evening special was the service. I have rarely felt so welcome and attentively cared for. One waiter in particular caught my eye: polite, charming, with slightly longer hair - he had a charisma that you won't quickly forget. A real highlight of the evening! I'll definitely come back - and not just because of the delicious food. ⸻

The service was perfect, friendly and accommodating! The food itself was good. Starters great. Unfortunately for me as a vegan there was no main course. Positively, I ordered the salad without cheese, which got a discount. A small dessert also came with the bill. Our reservation was at 6 p.m. and we ate under real time pressure. It's better to make reservations at 8 p.m. It was a nice evening.

Unfortunately, this evening's visit was a very negative experience for us. My wife had a hair in her food. After complaining, she received a new dish, but that took a long time. During this time my food got cold and we could no longer eat together properly. We still had to pay the full price - which wasn't exactly cheap... Only a yoghurt dessert was brought to us as "compensation", for which we were not asked beforehand whether we would like it. In any case, it didn't meet our taste... Unfortunately, not good service. Also, we didn't get a blanket even though we asked for one. The same applies to sauces for the fries...

Overall good. The meats on the Melina Teller were all a bit dry/overcooked, but the octopus and dips were very good.

After many bad experiences with restaurants in Starnberg and Munich, finally a nice experience here in Melina, the service is simply TOP! ♥️ The food was delicious, the atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxed, nice music and nice people around. Thank you!!!

Nice Greek restaurant, very well located and super busy. The staff is friendly nice and accomodating. Having a rservation is a big plus. However, the staff will try to find you a table even without reservation. The main disadvantage is restricting the visit to one and a half hours. The tables are also close to each other. Greek food usually is best enjoyed over long duration and nice chats. The restaurant does, however, offer free Ouzo shots and sometimes also free dessert. It is definitely recommended.

Hospitality is very important here and is truly lived. We had booked a table for dinner and ended up being there for 3.5 hours because of the friendliness and coziness. Clear recommendation!

Wonderful starters! Tsatsiki is out of this world! Delicious Greek salad. Friendly staff and great outdoor seating / beer garden. One of our favorite locals in Munich. We eat there at least twice of month.

Delicious food, nice atmosphere, but a bit too loud and cramped for me personally. We were aware of the time limit of 2 hours of stay, but it was still a shame. On the other hand, there was ouzo and a small dessert for free. All in all a lovely evening.

We went to the restaurant last night and honestly, the food and service were good. The only negative thing was that we were somehow “forced” to tip when paying. In any case we would have tipped, it's just that the waiter "guided" us to the amount he thought was appropriate. We felt somehow blocked and didn't know how to say no. This will make me think about visiting this place again. Plus it was pretty loud there.

It was our first time here and we had reserved. The tables are so narrow that other tables have to stand up so you can get to the seat. The sea bream was good, Cretan noodles were very boring, the starters were neutral. You have to order side dishes at prices between €5 and €9. Overall the food was ok but overall disappointing value for money. Sea bream with vegetables €29 is ambitious in comparison, even for Munich. The service was initially extremely unfriendly and rather aggressive. After he realized that we weren't putting up with it, the waiter became friendlier so as not to risk the tip. Absolutely unprofessional! We decided not to have dessert in a crowded and very loud atmosphere. There are better Greek restaurants in Munich with a much better price-performance ratio

A really nice evening at Taverna Melina. Very good starters and main courses. Love the free dessert at the end. A bit loud so only 4 stars overall. It's quieter in the front part of the restaurant... All in all, a real recommendation! Thanks

The waiters are very friendly and cheerful. The food is very well prepared, the fries are very crispy and dry, the Greek salad is delicious, we loved the peppers in the salad. The meat is also well prepared and well presented. We ordered a Greek pink gin that was very well prepared, with thyme, which gave the drink a different touch. The dessert was not sweet and was very well prepared. We loved the hand towel in the bathroom and the Greek music that was playing. We recommend making a reservation because the place gets very busy, even on a Tuesday night.

Super tasty food. Shared Starters are great (fried calamari especially) and the fish main courses too. Lots of mezze meats as well. Great for a birthday party. Happy to return!

"Welcome to paradise!" - that's how I was greeted the day before yesterday in the Taverna Milena. "We'll see about that first" - my answer, but with a wink (I already knew it was great there). And we weren't disappointed. The food was super tasty, we started with the platter of cold and warm mezedes and pita/garlic bread. A dream. It is very cozy, very well attended and therefore very lively and full of joie de vivre. The waiters are all in a very good mood, super fast and attentive and - if necessary - available to say something cheeky. :-) We definitely had a really great evening. What a cute restaurant I found in Munich. The food is original Greek and tastes fantastic. Generous portions. Good price. However, the whole thing depends on the attentive service. You can tell that this is a well-coordinated team. When we were there (in the evening) it was very crowded. Apparently the restaurant is extremely popular. And yet you still feel seen. They have it under control. Totally likeable.

Somehow always full, but unfortunately correspondingly loud, longer waiting times, constant hustle and bustle, quite narrow, waiters overloaded. Food tastes good, but in my opinion overpriced for quality and quantity. In the left part you sit quite cramped at high tables on uncomfortable high chairs. Atmosphere cannot arise because there are too many, too loud people and too hectic hustle and bustle.

The food is good, but unfortunately the seating is very cramped and it's incredibly loud. As a group, you have to pre-order everything, and there's not much flexibility. What bothered us was that when I didn't want to leave exactly a 10% tip when paying, the waiter started to negotiate, and I felt completely pressured. I've never experienced anything like that before, and I found it incredibly inappropriate. We won't be back, and I can't in good conscience recommend the restaurant.

Unfortunately, this restaurant is joining the increasingly questionable trend of only serving guests in rigid time slots. Instead of a relaxed dinner, this creates the feeling of having to make room as quickly as possible. For us, this takes away any charm from visiting the restaurant - so we won't be coming back

Simply great, this Greek restaurant! We were a group of seven people and were served very attentively and friendly at a beautifully set table. Yes, the food and service are good. But it's so cramped that you can't enjoy the food. When I made the reservation, I stated that the two of us wanted a good seat, ideally next to the window. But we were assigned the worst ones, where we had to get up if someone from the next table wanted to move. For anyone who wants a quiet evening, I will strongly advise against this place.

Great food, good produce, quite authentic, and good service. This place puts to shame most restaurants in Munich.

Yesterday I had dinner at Taverna Melina with my best friend. We had two Melina grill plates, pita bread, I had the house wine and my best friend had a beer. The food and drinks were really excellent, the service was always attentive, proactive and quick - despite being busy. The atmosphere is very warm and the restaurant is very busy - and there are comparatively few dishes on the menu: all signs of very good quality and fresh ingredients (not frozen), which I hereby confirm. Thank you for your hospitality, the ouzos and the dessert on the house - see you next time. 😊

Lively restaurant, attentive service despite a full house, good Greek cuisine - I deducted one star because my baby calamari was served with practically no side dishes: no salad, no potatoes, no bread. Just a dollop of paprika puree. Something was missing.

We went to Melina Taverne and it was a really beautiful Greek restaurant in Munich. It's about 2 km from the city center, but it's definitely worth driving there. The food was excellent - both the cold and hot starters were a delight, and the main courses, such as fish and meat, were unique and of the highest quality in taste. The service was very attentive and friendly even though it was full. The starters, especially the delicious specialties, were served after about 10 minutes, and the main courses also came after we ordered/requested them in around 10-15 minutes. Overall, everything was perfectly coordinated. As a small welcome gift we received a dessert on the house. The place is large, clean and beautifully decorated in Greek style. We'll definitely be back!

Amazing food! Amazing service! But European style! They pack all the possible tables into that small space, so it is uncomfortable. I don't like to have to fight with other tables to get to the bathroom.

Super delicious! They also provide pre-dinner wine and honey yogurt. I have been here three times and I am always pleasantly surprised every time. The price is right too! Recommend the fried seafood.
