TAMBOSI in München

Really bad service, considering this is in the middle of the tourist zone in Munich, and our server neither spoke nor understood English. There was even a little bickering going on between some of the servers at one point, right in front of all of the customers. Our order was wrong, twice, even though my Husband is actually German, which makes it even worse. Great location, but many better options, rather avoid.

Never again! There are so many great places to eat and drink in Munich! Report this place!

Topp even offers delicious fondue at a moderate price and top quality. Legendary Pino's homemade cakes and confectionery 🫂 The ground floor is really lively, quieter on the first floor, something for everyone. And when the sun is shining, there's a great terrace in front of the restaurant or a bit more peace and quiet in the adjacent courtyard garden ☕

Both the fondue and the service were more than excellent. The wine was superb. Beautiful ambiance. All in all, a wonderful evening. Thank you very much.

Well, Tambosi... It can range from extremely good to extremely bad, depending on the weather. I've had my fair share of disappointments at Tambosi. But this Wednesday, I went for lunch in bad weather, and it was really good. Very friendly service.

Few days ago around 4 pm I went to Tambosi, first we were greeted by an unfriendly girl who even though there were many empty tables, did not let us sit where we wanted. But well that's not all. I ordered a drink for 8.90 euros and when I paid I gave 10 euros, and I didn't get 1.10 euros back without a single word. This is one of the worst places I've been in Germany, except for the view, everything else is a disaster.

We went to Tombasi upstairs for cheese fondue. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening with very competent and friendly service.

I was here for business lunch today and was bitterly disappointed. The "roast veal" consisted of tough meat with an equally tough layer of fat. I haven't eaten this badly in five years. Two stars for the central location and the ambiance.

We were there on Thursday around 3 pm. The service was unfriendly and unenthusiastic. The ambiance and location are nice, but the service unfortunately made it an unpleasant experience.

Great location in a great location

One star is already too much. The staff is incredibly unfriendly! During our stay, we witnessed two different waiters arguing and insulting each other. The tables are far too close together; as the waiters walked by, I constantly felt their backside, elbow, or other body parts digging into my neck. Furthermore, the table next to us had an unpleasant altercation with a waitress. During the bill payment, the waiter withheld €2, which we noticed. He probably tipped himself, as he just happened to be exactly 10% short, and of course, we didn't leave a tip. After he slammed down the missing €2, I explained that we would gladly give a generous tip if the staff were friendly. Unfortunately, they weren't, because everyone was so unfriendly. "So you spoke to EVERYONE to find out that EVERYONE was unfriendly?" was his response. Outrageous! When I corrected my statement to "All the waiters we encountered were very unfriendly. We won't be coming back here," he replied with an ironic, fake grin, "I think it's better for me if you never come back." We've never experienced such rudeness!

A complete outrage: A seemingly intoxicated person from the bar smashed five glasses in front of us within an hour, a server was loudly talking on the phone with a friend/partner among the guests, boxes were lifted over the bar above our heads, and the previous guests' glasses weren't cleared away. Meanwhile, renovations were being carried out, and several groups of guests at the affected table were repeatedly asked to move.

I was quite disappointed by the unfriendly service and the poor price–quality ratio. I can’t recommend this place – too much hype for nothing.

The waitress was absolutely bitchy and rude. I'm a very cheerful and optimistic person, but I've never experienced anything like it – being ignored for 15 minutes and then becoming arrogant and snappy just because I waved her over. This place should be a showcase, but instead, it's just abysmal service... I'll definitely never be back!

Quite by chance, after a gray, rainy Sunday afternoon on November 9th, we discovered this extraordinary café, which already looked inviting from the outside thanks to its large windows. Inside, we were warmly welcomed by a young woman...her name, as it turned out later, was Paulina. I should mention...it was my birthday...my very first, not with my family, but alone...with my husband Jens and our Magyar Vizsla, Luna. For the first time, she didn't have to stay on the floor under the table...No...she was allowed to sit comfortably on a cushioned windowsill...we'd never experienced anything like it before! The food was excellent, and we felt incredibly welcome! We will definitely come back on our next visit to Munich. Thank you from Jens and Heike Schulze from Ballenstedt with Luna!

Very unfriendly staff who urgently need training.

It's always been a special place for me for almost 40 years. The food is excellent.

Our service was somewhat chaotic and disorganized – it was charming at first, but ultimately it just became annoying. Other employees sometimes stood around listlessly or were condescending (outside the restaurant). The food was unfortunately not good (cakes defrosted? Some hot dishes arrived cold – our complaint was upheld by the kitchen). Similar issues occurred at the tables around us. The venue thrives on its prime location. Prices are correspondingly high.

I recently visited this restaurant and had a very unpleasant experience. The place was almost empty, but the waitress was rude as soon as we arrived and told us to wait outside until she could find us a table. After a while, she finally seated us, but then completely ignored us. She served drinks to the table right next to ours, yet didn’t bother to take our order or even ask if we wanted anything. We found this extremely disrespectful, and due to the complete lack of attention, we decided to leave. It was a disappointing experience, especially considering the restaurant wasn’t even busy.

Great beer garden, but ordering cake is difficult and as a guest you also have to pay the toilet fee.

My brother and I spontaneously got out of the train at Odeonsplatz after the evening game at the Allianz Arena and discovered Tambosi. We both ordered pizza – and it was excellent. My pizza had grilled vegetables that were perfectly prepared. My brother was also thrilled with his. The atmosphere is cozy and very pleasant. We felt very comfortable. We found the price to be absolutely reasonable. A CLEAR recommendation!

I have never experienced such service: ((( We were escorted to a table by reception with the warning that it would take a while as the waiter was somewhere else. Afterwards the waiter finally came and when we asked for the menu she said: "Do you really not have any? I don't believe you. You must have sat here yourselves?" which was very rude but the best came when she very rudely said we were lying :))) As luck would have it, there are enough places where you get friendly service, we of course did not stay and passed this on to reception. It's a shame about the beautiful place that lets people like that work.

I enjoy one of the best views of Munich at the Tombosi Restaurant – with the most delicious pizza in town and an Aperol Spritz. This is how I like to spend a free afternoon or a cozy dinner with friends. The breakfast is also highly recommended. I also have to say that Tombosi is a great place to stop for late-night hunger pangs, when most restaurants in the city are already closed. The host, Pino, often greets his guests personally, which is always a nice touch. A taste of Italian flair in the heart of Munich – with a delicious espresso or cappuccino to finish. ☕🇮🇹 🥂💕☀️💎

Worst restaurant in Munich. We were at the terrace today, October 14, 2025, at 7:52 PM. We wanted something to eat and drink. We arrived and were completely ignored by the waiter! After waiting outside for 15 minutes for the order, the waitress came and cleared away two glasses from the next table, even after we'd asked for our order. We went in and wanted the menu, and then they asked us where we were sitting. Instead, "Do you need something?" It was a waiter and a waitress. Look at your shift schedule and train your employees! In such an expensive restaurant, you have to be able to offer something! And don't hire such unprofessional employees! They didn't tell us their names when we asked for them! They talk so rudely! Of course, we got up immediately and will never come back to this restaurant and wouldn't recommend it to anyone!!!!

For years, Tambosi has been one of those places I simply love – not just for the cappuccino (which is perfect, by the way), but for the whole experience. Whether it's pizza, Caesar salad, or one of the specials – the food is always top-notch, and the atmosphere is lively yet relaxed. When the sun is shining and you're sitting outside, there's hardly a better place in Munich to simply enjoy life – including people-watching💃🏼 in and around Odeonsplatz.😉 The waiters are always friendly, attentive, and cheerful – you can tell they put their heart and soul into their work. A waiter bumped into someone in a restaurant and pushed them away. Then I drank an espresso martini, which was good, but that was it. Bad service.

We had just arrived at Tambosi around 1:00 a.m. We got drinks. Then it was "last round." Less than two minutes later, we were supposed to finish our drinks, and preferably not fast enough. Then the owner's haughty, arrogant wife came over and insulted us terribly. I wish you all the best with such bosses. The place is dead to me. If you keep going like this, you'll tragically go bankrupt soon.

The cake here simply tastes yum. It is probably made without natural ingredients. A nut cake was ordered and a completely different one was brought. With a small cappuccino it costs over 14 euros. Pure rip-off. The ambience is dark. Even though the sun is shining outside, it never gets light inside.

Spectacular location on the boulevard side, overlooking Odeonsplatz, the Theatinerkirche, and Ludwigstraße. People come here to see and be seen. Friendly and efficient service. The beer garden in the Hofgarten is also extremely charming, nestled beneath the trees with a view of the Residenz palace. An oasis of relaxation.

Café Tambosi is always a wonderful place to linger. I especially enjoy the view of the magnificent Odeonsplatz on sunny days, but you can also find peace and quiet here if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city center. The shady tables in the Hofgarten are very pleasant, and you can almost always find a seat – perfect for sitting for hours with a delicious drink and enjoying the atmosphere. The service is usually very friendly, the food is good, and overall, Tambosi is a safe and reliable choice for me.

You wait up to an hour before someone comes to take your order. The waitress' attitude is questionable. Definitely not recommended. Munich is full of great restaurants. Tambosi is definitely not one of them.

It was supposed to be a nice start to a pleasant evening. That's why we had reserved a table for 5:30 p.m. It wasn't busy, and we were willing to order drinks and food. After 25 minutes of ignoring anyone, we finally had enough and left. That was truly the last time I ever visited this place. Absolutely terrible. After that, we went to the Commercial, where a very friendly waitress ordered our drinks at the bar and our mess after five minutes.

We dined at Tambosi on Odeonsplatz for business and had a very pleasant visit. Food: High quality and truly excellent taste. You can tell the emphasis is on freshness and good ingredients. Value for money: The restaurant is on the higher end, but given its central location, it's completely reasonable. Location & Ambience: Located directly on Odeonsplatz, with the option of seating in the courtyard garden – a great atmosphere, especially on warm days. Service: Attentive, friendly, and unobtrusive – rounded off the positive overall impression. Conclusion: A very nice restaurant for business meetings, but also highly recommended for private dining.

Tambosi has lost much of its luster. The 'good spirit' that keeps the creation going is missing. Just like Hugo's in Starnberg. A real shame! The still-high prices no longer reflect the culinary experience you get there.

Tambosi was very good a few years ago. The food and the staff were both very good. Now I've noticed that the food has become very run-down; apparently, there's a new chef. That was obvious. For this price and the quality of the food, what you get isn't good! Go somewhere else for food, drinks, and the atmosphere is good.

Great outdoor area, out back onto the courtyard garden, nice outdoor furniture. Price-performance ratio catastrophic. We had two pasta dishes and a pizza. The pizza was abysmal, the pasta bland and the portions relatively small. The food was cold. It's a long walk from the kitchen to the outdoor area. The waiter who took our orders and brought the drinks was very nice. But what we then noticed: when it got busier (we were quite early for dinner), the large trays became so full that the pasta and salad plates were placed ON TOP of the pizzas. So a plate that had previously been sitting somewhere was then placed on top of a pizza that someone else was supposed to eat. And we saw that several times. We've had our fun. And yes, we paid around 94 euros for 3 dishes and 3 drinks. Never again. More show than substance.

For over €5 for a 0.4-liter beer (which is the largest glass size), you have to wait at least 15 minutes for a stale drink, which is usually 10% below the standard mark. Uncomprehending service.

The outdoor terrace next to the Hofgarten is extraordinary, but the service is terrible; it's obvious they're sold out. While we were eating, a crow grabbed a piece of bread from a table and ate a good slice. They don't have a dessert menu; you have to get up to choose. The restrooms are clean, and as I said, trees and birds are everywhere. In the adjoining English Garden, there are hardly any places to have a drink, a positive aspect for the restaurant. Clearly, there's room for improvement.

If it weren't for the refreshing cool of the garden and the shade of the trees, the restaurant wouldn't be worth a visit. The Caprese salad had fiordilatte mozzarella (not buffalo mozzarella, as per the menu), it didn't come with bread, and the dressing arrived when the salad was almost finished. The mousse was decent (though I missed having two mousses on the same plate). Poor value for money.

Born and raised in Munich nostalgia drew me to the Tambosi. A mistake. Although the location is beautiful and the food is tasty, it is overpriced and features incompetent and unfriendly staff.

ATTENTION☠️: CAUTION!!! RISK OF INJURY!!! -BY ORDER OF THE MANAGEMENT- Dear reader! In this cafe/restaurant, by order (by order!) of the management: 6 (In words: Six!) DANGEROUS, endangering the common good (HEALTH) of the guest/visiting customer = broken chairs are being "foisted" on the guests. These chairs (6 pieces) have OPEN, SHARP-EDGED support tubes (broken and held together only by the "bastard" covering) that pose an acute risk of injury. Not only is your health (absolute risk of injury) insidiously endangered here (out of greed for profit)!!!, but ALSO your fashionable clothes! Your clothes! - - Upon consulting management (regarding this monstrosity), it was made clear to me in the most shameless manner (it went far beyond the point of being able to tolerate any kind of insolence) that I would not be welcome in this cafe in the future. I am attaching two photos (of six chairs). I, Stephan Alexander Peter, can only warn: AVOID THIS CAFE AT ALL COSTS!!!

Tambosi feels very upfront, so you have to wait until you're assigned a seat. We didn't buy the food because it was too expensive. A small drink costs €7, but you shouldn't expect small prices when you're right on Odeonsplatz. We were just there to rest. However, I thought it was cheeky to charge the restaurant's guests for the toilet when two of the faucets were broken. The atmosphere was very quiet.

We waited a long time for service, and part of our order was missing. The white sausage was served with bread instead of a pretzel. The lemonade was made with spirulina, and it was served in a 0.2-liter glass, even though it was advertised as 0.33 liters.

We asked for 1 aperol several times the blonde waitress didn't pay attention. Disaster service. 1 pellegrino water 9€. No further comments.

I'm a regular customer at this restaurant. This family-run establishment is welcoming, full of young people, and suitable for both private and business occasions. The Hofgarten ambiance is unparalleled in Munich. The service is always top-notch. The food could be improved here and there, but that's a matter of taste.
