Despite being very busy, we only queued for a short time. In front of us, the receptionist received a loud warning from the head waiter that people were waiting over 30 minutes to order and that she shouldn't fill all the tables. We were given a nice table and were warned. When the waiter came after a maximum of 15 minutes, we ordered everything immediately. The drinks then after 10 minutes. And eat again 10 minutes. Everything was under control in great weather and we were warned. Eating well despite the stress, everything ok again. At the neighboring table, the guests waited at least 45 minutes for their pizza. So it also depends on the courts. Despite everything, the waiter was very friendly and we made an effort. In Munich it has become unpleasant with guests in beer gardens, but here it's really very good and a recommendation.

Not comparable to the old Tambosi

Was there three times in total. Mediocre food and mediocre service at very high prices. Unfortunately, the Tambosi doesn't have anything more to offer than the great ambience of the Hofgarten. An average 3.x from over 3,300 reviews says more than many words.

It was July ’19. We chose this place because of its ideal location. We needed a break to freshen up and get a quick bite, after a beautiful walk in English Gardens. Outside, chairs were arranged in theater-like in rows! Waiters seemed too busy and took them awhile to attend our table. One waitress in particular was rude enough that we decided to finish our meal quick, and have our coffee somewhere else.

If I could give 0 reviews I would, this place is so understaffed that waiters are so stressed that they reprimand you when you call them, the food is whatever, you can get better some place else, don’t recommend going at all

Now negative reviews are being criticized and deleted even though I wrote objectively and truthfully, i.e. the restaurant is not open to criticism. The outside area is very nice in the courtyard garden, but the rest... After we had our table, we waited 20 minutes until we even got a menu, then another 15 minutes until the order was taken. The whole thing happened listlessly. We ordered pizza and salad, pizza mediocre, the salad was a disgrace. Price-performance ratio is not right at all. I will definitely not go there again, there are much better alternatives.

11.30 Sunday morning. The place is half empty. People are drinking coffee or orange juice. We wait some minutes to be seated, we are thirsty and we want to drink something. Once we tell the waiter we are two, he tells us unpleasantly that they are understaffed and we can’t be seated, we should come back at 12.00. We go away to drink at the nearby Starbucks. I think I have never been treated this way in my life.

Took 45 minutes to get one drink. Was ready to order & was told to wait. I ended up ordering at the counter and paying immediately with cash to fasten the process, and proceeded to wait 25 minutes. Need more wait staff on the floor.

I had a very disappointing experience at this establishment. I was charged 5.50 euros for a simple bottle of water, which is extremely overpriced, even for Munich standards. When I questioned the price, the staff were not only rude but also displayed a dismissive and racist attitude, which is completely unacceptable. This kind of behavior is shocking and does not belong in any customer-facing business. I would strongly advise others to avoid this place and spend their money where customers are treated with respect and fairness.

Tambosi is currently having all negative reviews deleted by Google. So does mine. Absolutely embarrassing! It's better to work on your poor service than to remove the honest reviews from hundreds (!!) of disappointed customers!

Great food and waiter from Serbia

Sadly there is no rating below 0. Extremly arrogant stuff and they don't care about their customers. Yesterday myself and my friends wanted to sit at this place only for drinks and the waitress told us that she will only guve us a table directly on the sun, because we were not there for the food. Half of the tables were empty. Luckilly it is located on a busy touristic area, but if someone is nearby, please avoid this place!

Even this is really good place to enjoy one of the nicest square in Munich. They are too arrogant, even there was several empty seats they did not let us to seat. They said they are reserved however their website clearly mention that they don’t accept reservations for outside. And attitude of the welcomer person was not nice.

I drank a glass of water there yesterday and got a headache. Don't understand it.

No alcohol-free shandy, no alcohol-free Russ. Beer in 0.4l glasses, but various champagnes on the menu. The pasta dish tasted bland and the salad was plain. Location is very nice but can also be enjoyed from the park.

Horrible, terrible experience. I’m appalled by the treatment of the staff working here. We sat down for more than 10 minutes and nobody was looking at us, which prompted me to get the attention of the waiters but each and every staff here just keep ignoring us. Eventually, someone came to us and sarcastically said “we’re busy you don’t have to keep calling us”, (doing a monkey gesture). I’ve never felt so angry being served in a restaurant before. All they need to do is simply communicate to us that they will attend to us shortly. If you’re not happy working here, please quit. The Tambosi thrives on its prime location on Odeonsplatz and in the Hofgarten. The previously outdated ambience inside has now been significantly spruced up with the change of operator and meets expectations of a modern coffee house. Uncleared, dirty tables, a latently arrogant manner on the part of the service staff, a somewhat arbitrary 'access control' - you simply don't feel comfortable and welcome here. Of course, this doesn't detract from its success, because Tambosi can be found in every travel guide and can survive on tourists who come here against their better judgment. Says the local. The moment we stepped inside, we were warmly welcomed. After taking our seats, our server appeared almost immediately. He was exceptionally kind and friendly, making us feel right at home. We were guests on a weekend. We wanted to sit in the front area. After a waiter mumbled something incomprehensible, another one came a short time later to show us a free table. The Tambosi Bar in Munich is simply great! The location on Odeonsplatz is perfect for being right in the middle of the city's action and at the same time enjoying a coffee or cocktail in a relaxed atmosphere. The service is very friendly and attentive, you immediately feel at home. The drink selection is impressive and the cocktails are delicious! I particularly liked the Aperol Spritz. The ambience is very inviting both inside and outside, ideal for a lovely afternoon or a relaxing evening with friends. We visited Tambosi 2 years ago. At this point, we had given an honest review immediately after the visit. We were rather dissatisfied with the service and the rating was correspondingly low. This was deleted by Google 3 days ago. Allegedly for defamation. I think it's a shame that honest reviews are removed in this way and an attempt is made to artificially inflate ratings. I'll just say this much, the rather low number of ratings for the local guides says a lot. We had a similar experience to Natalie S.'s review.

For us, this restaurant is always an absolute highlight and is just plain fun. The waitresses, whether Albert, Dalia, Nicolette or Bruno. Everyone is incredibly funny, kind, attentive and just warm. The food is always good and so are the drinks. Absolute recommendation. Little tip: be friendly and relax. It's a bit of a vacation! 🥂

Today we went to Tambosi as a couple at 4 p.m. to have an apperitivo - Italian style. You know the well-known queue at the entrance. But if you quickly slide to the front without the people waiting, despite there being free places - there was no one there to take care of the placement, the reason is quite simple! ALL those waiting in front of us simply gave up and left. We were then - finally someone came - offered a place at 30 degrees in the blazing sun, even though there were several shady places available. The only plus point is the very friendly service. Probably our last visit to Tambosi. Ciao

Already sad. I was at Tambosi a week ago and wrote a review that same evening. Two days ago I received a message that my review had been reported for “defamation”. I noted in my previous review that the service on site - especially the behavior of the woman at reception - was a complete disgrace. Unfriendly, condescending and ignorant. That's how it seemed not only to me, but also to my companion. And the other reviews here speak volumes, I think. This is not slander, but a fair review to help other potential guests make their decision about a suitable venue. Otherwise, negative reviews would probably have to be banned in principle and labeled as “slander”.

I have no idea why there are so many bad reviews. We were at Tambosi yesterday and had a lovely evening. Food great, service attentive and very friendly. Everything was fine. Just like it has happened all years before. Nobody would be turned away, nobody would play on their cell phones or ignore guests. It's all absolute nonsense. We will always enjoy visiting Tambosi.

Fantastic location, but everything else leaves something to be desired. My biggest shock was the inability to have coffee in the covered terrace. Apparently, they only serve coffee near the entrance, and not near the outdoor terrace. The waiter was shocked after I only ordered water, but what else was the response expected from my end?

We ate Vitello Tonnato and Carpaccio di Manzo, and the Tuna I pizza was perfect as a second course. We felt very comfortable. The location is great! I absolutely cannot understand the bad reviews!

First time here on a summer evening and actually ordered food. Wow surprisingly good . Loved the octopus, really tender . The house special pizza was super thin crust and really delicious with prawn, diced zucchini and garlic , highly recommend. Great for people watching too. Highly recommend for early evening . We came many times on a sunny winter or spring day for drinks and usually it was very busy , maybe that is why that the rating is so low. We had never eaten here before but the food exceeded expectations! Already finished the octopus and half of the pizza before taking a picture

Since we were traveling with older people, we asked for a seat at the table. This was assigned to us after an annoyed “the tables are only for people who want to eat”. Service is terribly slow. We were sat out on the garden without issue. However our table had a bug problem which we ignored given the location. The food lacked flavor, service was terribly slow. We had to ask for the check 4+ times and food took 1 hour plus to arrive with no apology.

As an Italian restaurant, the grappa was out, which is actually borderline. Furthermore, Ramazotti was served in water style glasses and was warm. Great location, good food too, as long as you know what to order. Service is terrible unless you're lucky. Toilets are not clean, sometimes something is missing, such as the flush or the lid. You could do more with it!!

It's very nice to sit here either facing Odeonsplatz or in the Hofgarten. The drinks and the food are both okay, but for the prices it's really just that. Plus, they seem to be chronically understaffed here. A place for tourists and for seeing and being seen. A little further down the street there are smaller, nicer restaurants with more reasonable prices.

The seating is tight, not a big deal. The outdoor dining area was well attended and after a while a young, friendly lady took our order. It then took some time to bring a Hugo, a Cola, an espresso and a piece of cake. The drinks were good, the cake had probably been sitting for some time and one side was dry. It's a shame because the taste was okay. But with such prices and the resulting demands of the Tambosi, something like that is unfortunately not appropriate. At no time was there any flair, warm friendliness, an extraordinary kick or anything like that. For us, ultimately nothing more than a normal café (restaurant) with high prices. We don't need that anymore. A pity...

Nice location with a beautiful garden side setting. Very loud music indoors, food was OK but expensive and definitely not Italian. Very poor service. The young lady in charge of seating clients is insufferable. Wouldn’t return nor recommend. Pity because this could be a great spot if it was better managed.
