TAMBOSI in München

We chose Tambosi by chance and later saw the many bad reviews that we cannot confirm. We were very satisfied. We were served quickly and very attentively. The food was appealing. The restaurant is really beautifully decorated.

In warm months, especially outside, a real Italian-French attitude to life: small tables with two chairs, a great panoramic view of the passers-by strolling around, how can you drink espresso in peace and quiet for a long time, inside a little tighter but somehow historically cozy

Overall: Unfortunately too expensive for the quality offered. The service and the ambience were very nice. Basically a super cozy and chic cafe/restaurant right in the heart of Munich. However, the prices are really expensive. E.g.: a normal-sized piece of cake costs 7.90 euros. It's tasty but the price is really not justified. That's why only 3 out of 5 stars for the food. - Likewise, the coffee is ok, but not so special that the price is justified. A small cappuchino costs 6.90 euros, is “only” from Lavazza and the milk foam collapses after just a few seconds.

Nicely renovated rooms, bad inattentive service, food is ok but nothing special and sometimes the dishes listed in the menu are missing when ordering.

The location is super. The view is gorgeous. I asked for FlatWite coffee, the waiter didn't say whether they had it or not. They gave me Maciyato 😂. I sat and waited for 20 minutes to order coffee. I understand that we have to wait. But not that much.

Overpriced. A very small (and not very good) cappuccino was 6,2€. The location of the restaurant is good though. As the house’s specialty you could also buy a 6L bottle of champagne with 31500€ haha.

Came across this place by chance for a quick coffee. We were assigned a place outside relatively quickly. When it comes to drinks, it can be said that coffee is nothing special. Over 6 euros for a cappuccino in a rather small size is an announcement - but so be it. The location is very exclusive and somehow that is also reflected in the price. What is not possible, however, is the outrageously brazen service. The black-haired waitress was quite annoyed. When we asked whether the heating could be turned on at our place, as was the case with the other places, she said that it was broken and it wouldn't work - we are welcome to change it. We asked her to pay a few minutes later. In the meantime, a colleague came and, to our surprise, quickly turned on the heating. When the waitress arrived with the bill, we pointed out to her that the heating was now on. She couldn't get more than an "oooh" out of it. Be that as it may - we wanted to go either way and now pay the bill and wanted cash payment. Of course, we didn't foresee a tip for this cheeky behavior and this is where the story began to take on grotesque features. The waitress seriously wanted to make us believe that she had no change and that we had €5.80 in small change. We looked shortly afterwards - no, we hadn't. Either she thought that we would let it go and leave her a tip of over 4 euros. But the lady really didn't deserve that with her behavior. After she repeatedly went looking for change and we were able to contribute a few cents, this farce was over and we left. She left without a word and we went on our way. With the warmest recommendation to avoid this store as far as possible. No more.

It's just tambosi nh, the food is good but it doesn't do justice to the price, you can always get a seat and the service is always polite

The waitress promised us that she would assign us a table. After a quarter of an hour and passing this service three times, we gave up despite there being 5 free tables. Probably failed facial inspection.

Miserabel Service, reine Abzocke!! Wollten samstags 14.30 Uhr Kaffee und Kuchen. Wurden raus geschickt auf Fläche im Hofgarten. Von dort wieder rein, weil draußen nur essen und trinken möglich. Innen meinte der Ober: „Jetzt ist keine Zeit für warme Getränke „. Um 14.30 Uhr??? Dann wurden wir wieder weggeschickt!!!

Miserable service, extremely incompetent, pure rip-off!!! Wanted to eat coffee and cake inside on Saturdays. Were sent out to the area in the courtyard garden. Then back in because there was only eating and drinking outside. Inside, the waiter said: “Now is no time for warm drinks.” At 2:30 p.m.??? I was so ashamed of this place by my guests and will certainly not go there again with my circle of friends under the current management.

The greatest respect to the entire team for still being friendly and courteous in such stressful situations! Best restaurant in all of Munich!

We wanted to treat ourselves to coffee and cake on the outside terrace. After being placed quickly, it took about 20 minutes before we were allowed to order, then another 30 minutes until the coffee and half of the cake arrived. Coffee was only lukewarm. Complaining didn't help as the waitress was barely visible. The second piece came with a request for the bill after another 30 minutes. When we told the waitress that we no longer needed the piece or that it no longer made sense, the waitress became rude. You could tell she was irritable and overwhelmed. Apparently we weren't the only ones who canceled. Sorry, despite the beautiful location right on Odeonsplatz, unfortunately not a recommendation! Especially not with a child, who unfortunately also became increasingly impatient due to the long wait! We won't be coming back!

Cleanliness is a foreign word: the tap system and the bribe basket at the bar haven't been cleaned in ages: stains and streaks everywhere. The bar is so "cluttered" with dirty dishes and glasses that the bartender regularly knocks them over: smashing them instead of washing them?! The bartender doesn't speak German, uses pre-mixed drinks from plastic jugs and starts discussions when drinks are criticized.

Seating instructions were unfriendly, probably depends on the person as other waiters were quite approachable. Something should be readjusted here.

Terrible service for an overpriced fancy restaurant. Very loud and uncomfortable. Glasses are touched at the top, no smiles, unfriendly towards guests. NEVER AGAIN!

Goodbye but apparently overwhelmed even though it wasn't even remotely full. Eat solid Ambience nice except for two fogged up glasses.

We have been waiting for more than 15 minutes to a waiter. No one came to the table. Waiters seemed to be very reluctant to work and negligent towards customers. We got up from the table and left without anyone having served us. Don’t waist your time with this restaurant

I ordered a coffee at 3:05 p.m. today, Sunday, and they told me that the machine was broken. When some friends were told to wait 5 minutes, I asked for a glass of water and they didn't even answer me. I hope Spaniards don't go.

Service disaster, tables dirty, just a total failure. Table was wiped with a smelly rag. Disgusting. There is nothing more than a bit of a central location here.

A nice experience, the atmosphere of the place is forgettable, but the food is less than normal. The best thing they have is pizza

Unfortunately bad service. You wait to be assigned a table. Basically good. We stood in line with another couple, waited a short while and were about to be assigned a table. The server was talking to us when two new women interrupted the server, and these two were promptly seated ahead of us and the other waiting couple. We complained to the server, who didn't care, and left without consuming anything.

We waited several minutes to get a seat. About 50% of the tables were free, other guests walked away after not being served. We left as well.

Huge disappointment. We had the habit of eating half portion of gamberi which USED to be delicious, expensive, but delicious with hot crisp grissini sticks. First the grissini were cold and limp - ok, replaced immediately with newly cooked and hot ones. But the gamberi were not in a sauce - the tomatoes were cold and raw, no rich sauce, just gamberi without any taste, no peperoncino - a less than average sauce - 2 glasses of wine and a shared plate - Euro 65! Come on! Waiter offered compensation - we asked for 2 more glass of the same wine - were brought 2 glasses half glasses of completely different wine. I think the waiter tried his best - something has changed - for the worst. Shame.

Ready to spare 15mins to queuing during summer. The outdoor area at Tambosi by the Munich Residence is beautiful, with lovely trees creating a perfect setting for outdoor dining. The service isn’t bad, especially if you crack a joke or two—it lightens the mood. Most things were fine, but we wouldn’t recommend the vongole. Unfortunately, we experienced food poisoning a few hours later, likely from not-so-fresh seafood. On the bright side, their garden spritz is super refreshing and worth a try. Stick to safer menu items, and you’ll enjoy the vibe!

Saturday afternoon, a cloudy day with some sun breaks in Munich (we are locals living in Munich): we are asking for a table for two outside. Without a lot of waiting time we are getting a table for two - all good so far. We then wanted to order a dessert and coffee, potentially also a snack/wine thereafter. The waitress explains us that there are no hot drinks today as "the machine is broken" - later our waitress confessed that the chef (of the day?) has instructed his crew to lie to the guests: the machine was never broken - but he did not want to have guests occupying the seats for "only a coffee" and therefore not serving hot drinks without the guests ordering a proper meal before. By the way, we ended up ordering a cold starter (priced around 19 EUR) and some drinks. The starter did not come (waiting for more then 35 min.) and we left after paying just our drinks (a beer, campari orange and water for EUR 30). At that moment we found out that others guests were served their hot drinks after they had consumed something else. Considering ourselves quite frequent fine dining guests, that have no issue to spend (a lot) on food and drinks, it is ridiculous to not be getting served something that is on the menu for "maximizing" the bill. Who lies to his guests, likely does not really want them in the first place! The worst service we have experienced in town for a very long time!

I used to enjoy coming here for an aperitif. But now never ever. A number of tables were empty, supposedly reserved. A sign telling you to speak to the staff if you want a table. Well, I tried that, but didn't even get an answer. Yes, then do your business with the Z celebrities with injected lips etc... there are also other nice corners in Munich.

It was a nice spot for many years, but now it's just a place to avoid, the service in particular is really bad. "Fun" fact : they are more motivated to harass Google to delete bad reviews rather than improve the service quality.

Unfriendly service unfortunately

After a long time, we wanted to have lunch outside in the sun at Tambosi again today. When it was our turn to be seated, we were told we had to go to the Hofgarten because there weren't enough waiters at the front. Since it was shady in the garden, we decided to go somewhere else (which was totally fine with us). When I noticed the guests after us being seated at a table in the front sunny area, I spoke to the waiter about it. He simply turned around and walked away. Simply outrageous. I used to enjoy going there; But that was definitely the last time because as a guest I don't have to be treated like that.

I was there with my son a few years ago. The prices are exorbitantly high, the service is poor. My son wrote 2 reviews that were deleted for "defamation". Well, then I have to confirm it again here.

I had truthfully reviewed a bad experience here from a few years ago and was now warned by Tambosi for defamation. Of course, this results in a new rating of one star - that's not how you treat customers. Instead of deleting criticism, you should work on your own quality!

When I was a student, the Tambosi was one of the pivotal points of my life: but then the bad news came that the Tambosi was closing and being taken over by "another Italian, God forbid, Hugo's". But now it's 2023 and you can only be grateful. The ambience has been preserved, the food and drink are formidable and, above all, the service is excellent. Just from the waiter Burak today, whom I can't thank enough, you can tell what a great service it is: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

VERY BAD SERVICE UNPLEASANT experience. RUDE WAITER, no clear instructions given to us when 4 of us went in. One of them ASKED US TO GO TO THE COUNTER to order, then the one at counter asked us to remained seated, and we raised our hands just to get attention so that we can know what’s going on and THIS RUDE GUY came and talked to us saying that he is busy!! big venue!! many customers!! he have many jobs to do!! with the rude, weird, judgy attitude to us… halo are you ok? If unhappy, please rest and don’t come to work. EXCUSE ME, is that my problem??! YOU can just tell us you will come back when you are free, we can wait. Because no clear instructions given. That’s why we try to get attention. HE IS JUST RUDE and not professional. Add on!! When we pay the bill, he asked : cash or card. THATS IT! NOTHING FROM HIM anymore, as a normal person can you say THANK YOU. It’s simple. No next time, thank you.

The location is fantastic, the food can be better as it was a bit salty, beer was the best and the staff could be more friendly. It was a nice experience overall.

We stopped for a snack during a busy sightseeing day. We had a beer each and ordered a snack tray that was a special offer for Oktoberfest. OMG! It was so good and huge. More than enough for two of us. Cheese, cured meat, liverwurst, salad, pretzel and bread. We left so happy!

For tourists (and everyone else) : avoid this place like the plague. there are much better places in Munich for lower prices that actually have good service. The staff at the restaurant is acting like they are above us mere mortals that are “just” customers. Extremely rude, unable to communicate , and mind-bogglingly incompetent. 10 minute wait to be seated, ignored by staff actively and constantly. If you’re interested in overpaying for a crappy coffee that you will get in 30 minutes if you’re lucky, and getting treated like a second class citizen, it’s the perfect place. However, if you’re looking for a normal place where you will get a respectful service, I would recommend skipping this tourist trap.

Incredibly strange and unprofessional service.

Nice atmosphere, especially in the outdoor area in the courtyard garden. Unfortunately, the two hot chocolates we each ordered were absolutely unacceptable. They were completely cold when served. When we asked, we were told that the temperature was "lukewarm" and that it couldn't get any better. It seems doubtful to me whether the drink was even warmed beforehand. I don't have high standards for a café, but I can't recommend this one under any circumstances.

Today I was there, however, and wanted to go to the toilet for a moment, but a blonde lady very rudely explained to me that there was a public one back there, no problem, but she would have been friendly, but this lady showed me the way in an extremely unfriendly and arrogant way. I will never eat here again go to the overpriced

How to artificially increase the rating of an establishment in Google? By proceeding like this establishment, i.e. by asking the platform to remove bad reviews from its customers. I therefore reiterate the assessment previously made on the quality of service, which if I judge from more recent opinions, has not taken the necessary measures to improve the quality of its customer relations.

The waiter Cristian is amazing! He looked after us so well, we felt very comfortable and he was always professional. Looking forward to our next visit and hope Cristian will be there again! :) Thank you Cris!

The beautiful place is well located, the service is very bad, it takes a long time, the waiters are apathetic and slow, we waited more than 40 minutes to be able to pay the bill. Average price but not worth it for the service offered.

The service was incredibly strange and unprofessional. I was being completely polite when I asked if I could sit at a different table. Before I could even finish my sentence, the server bluntly said "no" and walked away immediately. At that point, I decided to leave without ordering. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place due to their rudeness.

So €6.30 for a 0.3 apple spritzer is really steep.

I wrote an honest review. Of course it was deleted...due to defamation. Such a pathetic thing. Anyone reading this should give this “restaurant” a wide berth. That was the worst service I have ever experienced.

This is the only establishment in my life where I have been reprimanded by a waiter. The employees are rude, uncaring and arrogant. Also very expensive.

Never again I have never seen a service so bad in my life. The waitress refused to take the order and yelled at us. Reason why we wanted to order coffee and the woman who seated us said that coffee was available again. The waitress didn't get the information and instead of asking, she wrote to us. To be honest she was very stressed and I understand that it's all probably a lot for her. But then more staff should be deployed or fewer customers should be accepted. My money goes somewhere else where I'm treated with respect, don't feel stressed by the stress of waiting tables, and don't get yelled at. Unfortunately I can't rate the food because it wasn't ordered.

It cannot be surpassed in audacity. They deleted my review for the second time. You are treated badly there, you get incredibly bad service, the waiters argue in front of the guests and automatically keep any remaining money, even if you haven't said anything about it. Remarkable: The Tambosi does not respond to an accumulation of reviews criticizing the behavior of the staff, which we also rated as miserable, with an attempt to eliminate the cause, but rather with a wave of "removals" of the relevant reviews via Google. Nice attempt, but in the end it just underlines the fact that there's been a huge problem here for some time: If you get the feeling within a few seconds of entering the bar that you're basically just being tolerated, then that's just you last time here. Too bad.

Haven't eaten anything. We waited too long for drinks because we didn't seem to suit the Munich crowd. For that reason we were put inside. After the waiter just turned his back on me while paying, it was clear why it is currently only 3.5 stars. Superficiality at its best and goodbye to tips :) - But beer was tasty btw, that's why 2 stars

Terrible service!!!! Understaffed, bad-tempered and unfriendly! Service staff doesn't work to satisfy the guest but only for tips!!! Never again!!!! This recession has been deleted! I just see in my email inbox that the deletion has been requested and carried out. I wrote this about 4 or 5 years ago if I remember correctly. I come from the catering industry myself and have over 30 years of experience in service. I would like to state that I don't give any negative reviews just to disparage the company!! It is clear to me that negative reviews are annoying for the operator, but unfortunately it is a shame that the staff are not paid properly, are not professionals and therefore have no interest in satisfying the guest, but simply offer a spin service. I just shared my experience and I'm sticking with it, maybe things will look different in the meantime, especially since I wasn't/am not the only one who gave only one star, I should encourage people to rethink instead of requesting honest reviews to be deleted.

Absolute tourist trap with unbelievably uninterested and conceited service that flips into aggression the moment you dare to complain. The only thing this place has really going for itself is the location, but the food quality is in no relation to the pricing, and even if you do get a table they will make sure to make you feel unwelcome throughout. Almost spoiled my last trip to Munich by making the mistake to step in here three weeks ago. Avoid at all cost.

EDIT: THEY TRIED TO SUE FOR THIS REVIEW, REDUCING TO ONE STAR Absolute ridiculous to threaten a defamation law suit --------------- Pretty good food if it arrives, at the price I'd go somewhere else Milanese was great, very tasty, well breaded and fried. Polpo salad also very fresh. Just came extremely late and the main before the starter. Staff super lost. Forgetting orders, ignoring you, mixing things up. A friend ordered a non alcoholic beer and the staff joked they don't serve that (haha) but then came with an actually alcoholic beer. Replacement took more than 5 minutes. Location is obviously great, right next to Odeons Platz in the garden.

As a native of Munich, it is quite common for me to be denied the truthfulness of my review. Although I now live abroad, I regularly come to Munich and also to Odeonsplatz and therefore also to Tambosi! I only give reviews about places that I have visited myself. Some reviews are mediocre, many are very good, but unfortunately some are bad based on my experience with the business. If you only have to share positive experiences on Google, why is there the option to give 1-3 stars? Then why are there Google reviews at all? In the afternoon of autumn 2019, I was denied a seat at the table for coffee and cake in the almost empty restaurant. To do this, I was supposed to stand at the bar, where a few people were already standing uncomfortably. Since I found it uncomfortable and inhospitable, I decided to leave. I find it extremely embarrassing how justified and widely shared criticism is dealt with here in a panic, namely by simply claiming that every bad review is slander.

I was there two years ago. My report was recently removed for “defamation.” Below is an edited version of my experience. It was evening on a workday and I walked in for a quick beer before heading home. The restaurant was almost empty. I sat at the bar where there was only one couple sitting who had already been served. The waitress was on the other side talking to someone. I waited for about 10-15 minutes and decided to leave since I wasn't served.

We were regular guests at Tambosi a few years ago, which changed in 2022-2023 as the service and quality clearly improved. We've been coming here regularly since this spring. The service was super friendly and quick despite the restaurant being full! Many thanks again to Nicoletta who always brings a good mood to the table 💛

Lovely place for a drink and food. Service with a smile; Christian was great.

Never again! From 3 p.m. we were no longer served coffee here because it "no longer exists". We received a beer and juice spritzer instead of the tea and Coke we ordered. Our complaint was acknowledged, but we did not receive our order. We didn't pay attention to each other and didn't feel comfortable either. It was a very sad visit. It's a shame that the old Tambosi is gone.

If you want to experience the most rude staff ever - visit this place.

If you have children, you will be turned away here despite the many free tables. The restaurant was empty and there were a lot of free tables outside. You'd better go to Schumann for an afterdrink after work.

The waiter forced us to order spaghetti even though we were only coming for a drink. We told him that we didn't want it, twice, that's when he decided to get excited like a crazy 4 and a half year old. He “yelled” at us and clearly told us that it was our fault because we obviously (according to him) did not speak German or English well. Plus, when he learned we were Swiss, he was “nice” to us from that moment on.

Despite being very busy, we only queued for a short time. In front of us, the receptionist received a loud warning from the head waiter that people were waiting over 30 minutes to order and that she shouldn't fill all the tables. We were given a nice table and were warned. When the waiter came after a maximum of 15 minutes, we ordered everything immediately. The drinks then after 10 minutes. And eat again 10 minutes. Everything was under control in great weather and we were warned. Eating well despite the stress, everything ok again. At the neighboring table, the guests waited at least 45 minutes for their pizza. So it also depends on the courts. Despite everything, the waiter was very friendly and we made an effort. In Munich it has become unpleasant with guests in beer gardens, but here it's really very good and a recommendation.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place. The receptionist is unfriendly and appears both arrogant and incompetent. Unfortunately it is not possible to award less than one star.

Few days ago around 4 pm I went to Tambosi, first we were greeted by a unfriendly girl who even though there were many empty tables, did not let us sit where we wanted. But well that's not all. I ordered a drink for 8.90 euros and when I paid I gave 10 euros, and I didn't get 1.10 euros back without a single word. This is one of the worst places I've been in Germany, except for the view, everything else is a disaster.

Not comparable to the old Tambosi

Was there three times in total. Mediocre food and mediocre service at very high prices. Unfortunately, the Tambosi doesn't have anything more to offer than the great ambience of the Hofgarten. An average 3.x from over 3,300 reviews says more than many words.

Great location, especially on a sunny day, but chronically understaffed. Waited 5 min for a table (even though almost empty). Food came after 15 min and was cold, as was the coffee. Not what it used to be.

It was July ’19. We chose this place because of its ideal location. We needed a break to freshen up and get a quick bite, after a beautiful walk in English Gardens. Outside, chairs were arranged in theater-like in rows! Waiters seemed too busy and took them awhile to attend our table. One waitress in particular was rude enough that we decided to finish our meal quick, and have our coffee somewhere else.

Now negative reviews are being criticized and deleted even though I wrote objectively and truthfully, i.e. the restaurant is not open to criticism. Just to write down here again: the food is very good, the ambience is also excellent, but it's all useless if the waiter in the beer garden is unfriendly and the service simply doesn't match the price level

If I could give 0 reviews I would, this place is so understaffed that waiters are so stressed that they reprimand you when you call them, the food is whatever, you can get better some place else, don’t recommend going at all

Very rude staff, order was taken very late without any enthusiasm. Chairs very uncomfortable to sit.

The outside area is very nice in the courtyard garden, but the rest... After we had our table, we waited 20 minutes until we even got a menu, then another 15 minutes until the order was taken. The whole thing happened listlessly. We ordered pizza and salad, pizza mediocre, the salad was a disgrace. Price-performance ratio is not right at all. I will definitely not go there again, there are much better alternatives.

We liked it very much, fast service nice food

11.30 Sunday morning. The place is half empty. People are drinking coffee or orange juice. We wait some minutes to be seated, we are thirsty and we want to drink something. Once we tell the waiter we are two, he tells us unpleasantly that they are understaffed and we can’t be seated, we should come back at 12.00. We go away to drink at the nearby Starbucks. I think I have never been treated this way in my life.

Took 45 minutes to get one drink. Was ready to order & was told to wait. I ended up ordering at the counter and paying immediately with cash to fasten the process, and proceeded to wait 25 minutes. Need more wait staff on the floor.

I had a very disappointing experience at this establishment. I was charged 5.50 euros for a simple bottle of water, which is extremely overpriced, even for Munich standards. When I questioned the price, the staff were not only rude but also displayed a dismissive and racist attitude, which is completely unacceptable. This kind of behavior is shocking and does not belong in any customer-facing business. I would strongly advise others to avoid this place and spend their money where customers are treated with respect and fairness.

Great food and waiter from Serbia

Sadly there is no rating below 0. Extremly arrogant stuff and they don't care about their customers. Yesterday myself and my friends wanted to sit at this place only for drinks and the waitress told us that she will only guve us a table directly on the sun, because we were not there for the food. Half of the tables were empty. Luckilly it is located on a busy touristic area, but if someone is nearby, please avoid this place!

Even this is really good place to enjoy one of the nicest square in Munich. They are too arrogant, even there was several empty seats they did not let us to seat. They said they are reserved however their website clearly mention that they don’t accept reservations for outside. And attitude of the welcomer person was not nice.

Tambosi is currently having all negative reviews deleted by Google. So does mine. Absolutely embarrassing! It's better to work on your poor service than to remove the honest reviews from hundreds (!!) of disappointed customers!

My experience with this restaurant was bad. My coffee was cold, and there was an unpleasant smell outside when I visited. However, my experience with this restaurant has gotten even worse, as genuine reviews are now being deleted with "slander" as the reason. Like most disappointed customers, I always believe in giving second chances, but not taking responsibility for mistakes is not the way to improve the restaurant's image. You can do better, Tambosi.

No alcohol-free shandy, no alcohol-free Russ. Beer in 0.4l glasses, but various champagnes on the menu. The pasta dish tasted bland and the salad was plain. Location is very nice but can also be enjoyed from the park.

Horrible, terrible experience. I’m appalled by the treatment of the staff working here. We sat down for more than 10 minutes and nobody was looking at us, which prompted me to get the attention of the waiters but each and every staff here just keep ignoring us. Eventually, someone came to us and sarcastically said “we’re busy you don’t have to keep calling us”, (doing a monkey gesture). I’ve never felt so angry being served in a restaurant before. All they need to do is simply communicate to us that they will attend to us shortly. If you’re not happy working here, please quit. Get a better employee because the staff working here is absolutely abysmal.

I drank a glass of water there yesterday and got a headache. Don't understand it.
