Strandperle in Hamburg

No real service anymore. I paid for the food but didn't get it. No refunds on site. What's going on? It's actually a nice place. It still is. But everything is geared towards optimization and mass production. You call up the menu using a QR code. Then you choose there. And pay directly, for example with Apple Pay. Until then, there's no contact with the service staff. A tip is also suggested right away. My friend got his food and drink promptly. I didn't. My order still didn't arrive after 30 minutes. When I asked, I was told that no order had been received. I then verified via my bank app that I had paid for an order. The service employee told me that this happens very often here: that the customer pays for the ordered food, but IT errors occur and the order doesn't reach the kitchen. I wouldn't get the food and drinks I ordered and paid for because no order had been received by the kitchen. I pointed out that I would like my money back if I didn't receive my order. I didn't get the money back. However, I informed the service representative that Strandperle had debited my account. The service representative then told me it would probably be transferred back to me. (He didn't provide any contact information or any connection to the order for payment.) But the refund wouldn't always work technically. I should check my account sometime in the next few days to see if it's been transferred back. Maybe, he said. If it doesn't work, I should call. Then he grinned cheekily in my face and walked away. Ordering and paying digitally is fine by me. It's just designed for mass production. Not receiving the order despite payment is unfortunate. Not getting the money immediately upon request on site, or at least receiving the order, is neither possible. I don't know if I'll ever see the money again. The service representative's demeanor was completely inappropriate, in my opinion. Strandperle was once an insider tip. Today, they're focused on mass production. One more or less customer apparently doesn't matter. It probably doesn't matter if you pay for food that doesn't get delivered. This was truly one of my worst dining experiences. Oh, Strandperle! What on earth have you become?

Nice location, young, friendly service team. Unfortunately, I got food poisoning from the currywurst. The prices are far too high for the mediocre quality.

Delicious food and drinks, and excellent service; due to the possibility of ordering and paying via QR code, contact with the very friendly staff is unfortunately a bit short. The food is terrible! HENCE, 2 stars. Nobody can do anything about this place; it's definitely worth a visit, but leave your hunger at home or eat somewhere else first.

The spot is simply fantastic. Whether the weather is good or bad. I've enjoyed it over the years. Yesterday, I was just a bit shocked by the price of a bottle of beer (Carlsberg 0.33), which was nothing special, and I canceled my order. Guys, €6.20 wasn't reasonable for a kiosk... Is it really necessary?

Always a lovely spot to enjoy the sun, the people, and the view of the Elbe. We only had fish sandwiches, which were okay. But honestly, you don't come here for the food. You can now order at your table via QR code and pay with a credit card, including a tip if you want. The order came quickly, and otherwise the staff was super friendly.

Should not be missed if you are in Hamburg.

The Strandperle boasts a beautiful location right on the Elbe beach – the view of the water is truly unique and makes the visit special. The burger was very tasty and freshly prepared, but I found the prices a bit too high for what was offered. Also less pleasant was that the waitress repeatedly asked us after our meal whether we wanted anything else. This seemed rather stressful in the long run. All in all, a nice place to visit, but not a real highlight for me.

Great location right on the Elbe beach with quite high prices. Those who order and pay via QR code are required to add a tip; there's no way to completely opt out of this option.

Very cozy place, directly on the Elbe water

Highly recommended. It feels like you're on vacation. Friendly people, relaxed dogs 🐩🦮🐕. Super delicious food, drinks, and relaxation with your feet in the sand. The staff are cheerful and very attentive. You can book your order and pay via mobile. We and our 🐕 treated ourselves to a wonderful four-hour break.

We were there on a rainy morning. How wonderful must it be in good weather? Incredible atmosphere across from the container terminal. Watching cargo ships has never been so relaxing. We just had a drink...

Great sundowner. Poor, slow service, and absolutely exorbitant prices. The Strandperle isn't located on the Cote d'Azur, but on the dirty Elbe River.

Unfortunately, that's no longer the case. The Strandperle was always a staple of our Hamburg stay. The food used to be super good, but in July 2025, we were sorely disappointed. Frozen and convenience foods from the lowest drawer. We'd gladly stop by for a drink - but we wouldn't eat here again 😭

An unbelievable dump! Sorry! Very alternative, which I don't mind! Also, there are a lot of dogs running around outside off-leash between the tables, and some have done their business in the sand! That shouldn't be the case if the owner or mate is watching and cleaning up! The place needs a thorough renovation, as it's a gold mine on the Elbsand. Nothing is well-maintained, and you have to eat breakfast on dirty tables.

Beach, sand, a view of container ships… all that's missing is some delicious food and a cold drink. You can get both here.

Phew, I'm almost at a loss for words to describe the poor service. The food arrived almost cold; currywurst and fries for €15 is quite a statement. Drinks were cold and arrived quickly. Service was understaffed and therefore inattentive. The view of the Elbe River was, of course, fantastic. From the kiosk to the "I'll get everything out of here" place.

Great atmosphere in the sand for “ship watching” 👀 🚢⛴️🛳️⚓️

The Strandperle Hamburg is an absolute must. We had fried fish and burgers. The value for money is good. Unfortunately, our food was a bit cold, which is why it loses two stars. The service and ambiance were excellent. We'll be back.

Strandperle is a unique spot on Hamburg's Elbe beach. Phenomenal views of the river and the harbors on the other side. We've been there twice. Delicious wines, simple but good beach bar food, and excellent service. Yes, it can get busy, but a table is easily found. Highly recommended to be there as the sun slowly sets behind the Elbe estuary!

A great location that could be transformed into a real dream with a bit more cuisine and less pre-battered frozen fish and ready-made rémoulade. The price is far too high for what is more or less cafeteria fare. The service was courteous and friendly, and we felt very comfortable. The food, however, could be significantly improved. We'll definitely be back, but only for hydration. We'll of course also check out what we see on the plates, but first, only at the neighboring tables.

Location: Definitely a gem of Hamburg – Elbe beach, boats, a gentle breeze. A worthwhile destination in good weather. Food: More like a bag of magic than culinary art. Everything comes from a bucket, absolutely no finesse, but the prices are Hanseatic and confident. Service: Prompt, friendly, no frills. Conclusion: Probably no one comes here for the food, but more likely for the view.

The atmosphere and the panorama are fantastic. The menu is okay (nothing really special in my opinion, but perfectly fine for a nice break with a beach feeling). There's plenty of seating, so even on a spontaneous visit, you might be lucky enough to snag a nice spot. If you want, you can put your feet in the sand and complete the holiday feeling 😎

The location is everything, the food not so much. They're worried that the loss of parking spaces up on Elbchaussee will jeopardize business 😂. As if anyone in their right mind would drive to the Elbe beach!

Thirty years ago, the Strandperle was still an insider's paradise; now everyone knows it. There's a small self-service kiosk. Food is served at the tables. The atmosphere is sensational, with the tables and chairs set on the sand very close to the water's edge. It gives you a real vacation feeling. I had an excellent apple pie with a hot chocolate. It was great.

It was a beautiful day. Delicious food. Very friendly service. Right on the Elbe. Afterwards, we lay on the beach. Wonderful.

I've known the Strandperle for many years, and in my opinion, it hasn't developed in a positive way. The 'chilled' tables and chairs on the Elbe riverbank sand have been replaced by a 'beer tent' atmosphere and closely spaced tables. Apart from the unique view of the passing ships on the Elbe, nothing remains of the old flair that made this place so special—quite the opposite. Drinks and cakes are breathtakingly expensive, and it's loud. The service was extremely attentive and friendly—although the sheer volume of customers also made it very busy.

The Steandperle thrives on its location. This is reflected in the high occupancy, the rather high prices, and the rather simple food. However, the service is still attentive.

Top location and setting, drinks are normal and priced higher. The food is a complete disaster. We were served cold noodles carelessly on a plate and paid way too much for it. A 10-year-old would have handled it better; sheer insolence. A dump, but okay for drinking.

Hey, last night, I enjoyed the evening again in the front row. It's truly special to watch the ships right on the Elbe. After a beer after work, I got hungry, which I satisfied with fried fish and potato salad, or rather, fish fritters. Perhaps it's the atmosphere that makes the potato salad taste so good, but it was good. Fried fish was also very tasty. The fish fritters obviously don't compare favorably. But for factory-made products, they tasted okay. For truly handmade items, you just have to walk towards the fish market. There, of course, you can find homemade items of excellent quality. But with a streetside atmosphere... I think what's new is that you can order via a QR code stuck to the table. However, you have to pay directly. Unfortunately, after being redirected to Apple Pay, you have to confirm the purchase again... I had overlooked that and asked about it after 15 minutes.

A highlight in Hamburg. A sandy beach in the middle of the city, with an impressive harbor across the street. Watching the ships is fantastic. A small snack bar that's been a great meeting place with friends for at least 40 years.

Great location right on the beach. There are also covered areas. The food is comparable to a snack bar, but the prices are steep. Aperol Spritz is €9. Unfortunately, no Lillet. Card payment! Parking is only available upstairs at the street (if you're lucky). Still, highly recommended!

I don't think we need to say anything more about the fantastic ambience. That's why we've been here so many times. But seriously, folks, this is a given that you haven't managed to create. But the abysmal "food" (it used to be really good), which consists almost exclusively of ready-made and frozen goods, is. And at rather steep prices, too! What "chef" with a shred of professional honor would serve something like that, what "restaurateur" would force them to do so? Two fish cakes that look like they were industrially produced, with potato salad from a bucket, for almost €14!!! As compensation (the service team really tried very hard), I got the burger (normal price almost €20!), the fries were at least hot and crispy, the burger itself was already cold, and the patty was just as sawn-off frozen as the fish cakes, with no taste of beef at all. The best part was the cocktail tomato on the side of the plate. At least we got our money back in the end. Conclusion: Drinking because of the ambiance, yes, but only if you're not hungry, which is known to drive you in, but not what's served here...

What a beautiful place! A beach in Hamburg. An absolute dream in good weather. With a view of the harbor and Finkenwerder. I love coming back here every time. The entire surrounding area is also worth a stroll. It's always crowded... and for good reason :)

Unfortunately, I can't comment on the food or service here; we couldn't find a table... everything was taken and very crowded. So, if the weather is nice, be sure to make a reservation or plan ahead. There's really no chance of a spontaneous visit here.

It's a cult favorite. Quite busy for a weekday. Service is surprisingly fast. Prices are moderate.

A unique atmosphere! A must-have when visiting Hamburg. Some of the waiters walk around in waders because the water sometimes reaches the bottom of the tosche. The food is also very good. We'll be back.

Unfortunately, the toilets are completely overcrowded, but there are far too few of them on the entire Elbe beach.
