Steakhaus im Domkrug in Eckernförde

I've been there several times now. Steak for the "man of action" has always been perfect. Reservations went smoothly. Service was friendly. Food was served promptly, and drinks were served quickly. We've always been satisfied. We'll be back for another steak.

Review for May 21, 2025 - Grilled Plate for Lunch We visited the restaurant for lunch on May 21, 2025, and opted for the "grilled plate" lunch special. The food was overall tasty, the meat was well-seasoned, and there were four different types of meat. You could choose between fries or potatoes – there was really nothing to complain about here. What was absolutely disappointing, however, was the service. We had been here a week earlier at the same time and had to wait a long time for our food. The next table ordered after us, and the food arrived much faster – exactly the same as what we had ordered. When I politely asked if we had been forgotten, the waitress snapped at me rather rudely. That wasn't pleasant, but since the food was still good, we thought it might have just been a one-time slip-up. The situation repeated itself on May 21, 2025. We ordered the mixed grill again and, as before, received two small bowls (one white, one red). The table next to us, which ordered the same dish, also received two small bowls, but we were only given these two, which raised the question of whether the second bowl for the second dish had perhaps been forgotten. When I politely inquired, the waitress again snapped at me rudely. The response was that there was only one bowl per person and we would have to buy the second one – which, in turn, meant that one person would have to make do with something like ketchup or mayo for their fries, while the other person had more choice. We paid just under 30 euros for the entire meal. My conclusion: The food really isn't bad, it tastes good, and we would definitely eat here again. But the waitress's behavior is absolutely intolerable. It's simply unacceptable to snap at guests – especially at a price of 30 euros, which is roughly equivalent to 60 marks. Reasonable service, in my opinion, is definitely part of that. There are plenty of other places in Eckernförde where you can expect better service for your money. I'll spend my money elsewhere next time, as it shouldn't be surprising if such establishments eventually suffer. Score: Food: 4/5 Service: minus 6

I had a minced steak with Gouda cheese filling, French fries, and Djewit rice. The minced steak was almost soft to hard. The cheese filling was leaking and nonexistent. The price was too high for a "meal," which wasn't filling. The mayo I ordered with the fries was just a sachet instead of a decent portion. Overall, my verdict: 2 stars. I then went to a good Italian restaurant and treated myself to a pizza.

Uncomfortable, service sometimes very unfriendly, food expensive but spartan.

Einmal und nie wieder!!! Ungemütlich, unfreundlich und das Essen zwar teuer aber spartanisch. Angeblich voll besetzt, daher problematsch die telefonische Reservierung für zwei Personen. Von 19.00 bis 20.30 Uhr waren wir die einzigen Gäste.

Fantastic customer service. Walked in and asked where we could park as we had already used up our time in the parking lot. Then they offered us to park directly outside the restaurant by their company car, what a service!!!! Got a table even though we didn't reserve. Got the food quite quickly, well prepared and very tasty. A good beer, of course. Staff, venue, food, service could hardly be better. Really recommended 👍👍

It's a shame: You can also see here that it is becoming increasingly difficult to find service staff in the catering sector who are no strangers to service And steakhouse? well: a 300 g ribeye with a maximum thickness of 1.5 cm... and probably only a sirloin steak reminds of one A very stringy rump steak... Potatetos were out (in a steakhouse!!!) but soggy potato wedges that were simply over-seasoned with cheap spices… When I was told that the rump steak was stringy, the answer was “I’ll pass it on to the kitchen”. After eating I asked again but only got a relatively mushy answer… Table ordered on May 1st for 8 p.m.: asked if we could come earlier. The Domkrug is actually open until 10 p.m.… And 8:30 p.m. in the middle eat: would you like another hot drink? We're going to clean the coffee machine now. Sorry.. But this is not a restaurant but a better fast food joint. Quality and service are also cheaper there. Too bad.

Here you can enjoy delicious dishes in peace. And at fair prices too! There was also a cold beer at the start. The friendly service rounded off the overall impression very positively. 👍

Very much so, top service, owner very nice, good communication, highly recommended. The food is super delicious 😋, we were there with the whole family. Next time we will enjoy and taste the Peljesac wine again, from Bochum 😉

Had lunch here. Food was good. Service attentive. The furnishings are very old-fashioned and need updating. In addition, all seats are reserved and you get “a cat table”. After we sat there, other people came and were able to choose one of the "reserved" tables.

We were always good guests at the Domkrug on our summer holidays. Last year we also spent Christmas in Eckernförde. In order to have everything well planned for Christmas, I booked a table for 6 people on September 11th for Boxing Day at 5 p.m. Shortly before we started our 500 kilometer journey, I called Domkrug again to confirm the appointment. Then I was suddenly told that I had reserved for Christmas Day and of course everything would be full for the 2nd. My objections that this was definitely not the truth and that I could even send her WhatsApp, which I had sent to our children immediately after booking, were not addressed. No looking for a solution, let alone an apology. According to the motto: You were unlucky. Luckily, Bellini was willing to help us and set up a table for us, otherwise we, as vacationers, would have been able to eat Snickers from the gas station for Christmas. After the trouble, we had a wonderful evening at Bellini and were able to enjoy the excellent food. We are simply extremely disappointed with the Domkrug. This is not how you should treat guests, even if they are just holiday guests.

We were in the domkrug todayWe were eating in the domkrug today and had fillet plates with salad twice. The salad was a bit very simple. I am a trained hotel manager, hotel business economist with a trainer aptitude test and can only recommend spicing up the salad with a few small means. That would improve it significantly, dressing was too thin and a bit "colorless". The main course and the quality of the meat were absolutely flawless. However, I have to criticize the service. The staff was friendly and quick, but that's not possible when two people are sitting at the table - one has eaten and the other hasn't. Then it's not appropriate! Don't take a plate with you, but in a sensible restaurant you have to wait until both guests have eaten!! Each plate was cleared too early with the salad and the main course. If the salad is a little smarter and the service staff follow my advice as an expert, then it's easily five stars because the price-performance ratio is very good!

We had dinner here at Christmas and I can't complain. The restaurant was full but we didn't wait long for our order. The only thing I didn't like was the baked potato. It was pretty dry, but I can forgive that given the high number of guests. But the quality of the meat was very good and cooked to perfection!

The steak was ordered medium rare, unfortunately it wasn't. This really shouldn't happen in a steakhouse. Unfortunately, no one asked whether everything was OK during the meal. When paying, the wrong cooking level of the steak was mentioned and apart from a laugh from the waitress there was no further reaction. It was also really cold in the dining room where we ate. I've never felt cold in a restaurant, but unfortunately I did here. It's a shame... first and last visit.

In December we unexpectedly arrived with 6 people and the super friendly staff did everything they could to ensure we had space. The food and the ambience were great, thank you very much.

Not only the delicious, different dishes, but also the great service rounded off the pleasant stay very positively. We all felt very comfortable. Therefore, absolutely and unreservedly recommended. There are lunch dishes here, changing every week. Or from the menu, always tasty and good.

Here you can eat well and cheaply. The service is good, quick and typically Nordic friendly. It gets crowded quickly at lunchtime, but everything goes very quickly. A good changing lunch menu is offered. If you want to eat well but without chicy micky, you're in good hands here.

Discovered by chance on our Sunday walk and stopped in. The service is very courteous, fast and authentically friendly. The selection of drinks and food is typical of a steakhouse. The quality of the meat is excellent and the preparation is as desired. Both the seats in the restaurant and outside are comfortable and have flair. Price-performance ratio is great, we say THANK YOU and would be happy to come back.

Das Essen ist gut - aber nahezu identisch mit den Speisen im Restaurant Montenegro. Allerdings sind die da authentischer. Nun gut. Salat bestellt - incl. im Preis enthaltenen Röstbrot. Röstbrot fehlte und wurde angemahnt. Röstbrot kam und 2,50 mehr auf der Rechnung auch. Und das alles ohne ein Zeichen von Höflichkeit. Überhaupt pflegt man im Service da einen sehr nordischen Charme. Muss oder sollte man mögen, wenn man dort zufrieden sein will. Wir waren es nicht.

We had a very tasty meal here. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, what more could you want? The meat (schnitzel) was super tender, fries and salad were also delicious. There is also a lunch menu with sufficiently large portions.

We ate at the Domkrug again and, as before, the food here is delicious and high quality. As a guest you always feel welcome and understood here. The food is, as I said, really good! My Staek (I like to eat it in English) was almost perfect, beautifully prepared and simply delicious! Addendum: A weekly changing lunch menu provides variety and I can highly recommend it!

You sit relaxed and quiet on the church square under large trees. The staff is courteous, friendly and helpful. The meat was tender and well fried. The pike perch was excellently prepared. The only thing that bothered me was that the spinach I ordered was drowned in hollandaise sauce and the boiled potatoes were tossed in butter. The mustard-dill sauce for the pike-perch also tasted more like hollandaise sauce than like mustard and dill. I was glad I ordered them in a separate pot. So I was able to enjoy the delicious zander natural.

Cozy restaurant on the market square in Eckernförde. We ordered steak and pork fillet with the accompanying side dishes. Not a long wait for food. Both dishes were very tasty. Prices not expensive. Service very friendly. We will definitely visit this restaurant again on our next vacation in Eckernförde.

Some of the food was served incorrectly. My first beer tasted a bit like soap. Sometimes cars drive past 5m next to you. The portion of the food was manageable. The taste of the food was okay...

We were served in a satisfactory time, the salad was quite good, the dips were really tasty. Unfortunately, all steaks were completely cooked without asking and a good salt was also missing. Then a schnapps at the end... 4.90 per piece is already hard. If the young waiter spills it over the guest, you should at least expect a free drop, But unfortunately that wasn't the case. 2 people, almost 90 euros is damn excessive!
