Very tasty food with a view of the Baltic Sea! Good portions at reasonable prices. The staff was friendly and kept an eye on all the tables even though the restaurant was full. Great service!

We went there on a recommendation. The reception was friendly. Food is always a matter of taste, but there were four of us there and everyone was disappointed. The coleslaw is just oily. The Metaxa sauce only tastes like tomato paste. The minced meat was dry and very firm. The turkey was also fried to death and tasteless. Card payment was probably rather undesirable, the waitress said something stupid.

We had really tasty dishes, but we didn't finish everything... it was a lot 😁 and then we took the leftovers home with us. As far as the service is concerned, super friendly and accommodating, the view... perfect. We'd be happy to come back when we're nearby 😇.

The food was too bland, except for the coriander, which was very present and unfortunately not to our taste. The employees watched everything very strictly. My child had to wait forever for his drink. The tip was responded to with a “hmph”. The atmosphere is great, right by the sea.

Unfortunately we found ourselves standing in front of the locked door at 4 p.m., even though a woman on the phone said it would be open at 3:30 p.m. It was said that the kitchen wasn't ready yet. It's not a problem, but leaving guests standing in front of the door for over 20 minutes (by then it was 4:15 p.m.) is really not a charming way. Apparently the restaurateur doesn't even want to take the proceeds from drinks with them. Even guests who had pre-ordered their food stood with us in front of the closed door. Therefore, we find it unfriendly and definitely not recommended if you think it won't open until an hour after the actual opening times, despite a telephone inquiry and the information that there are several guests in front of the door.

Warmed up, lukewarm food, a reference to this was commented on with a saying..."then you should eat faster"... Never again... It wasn't tasty... Unfortunately I can't recommend it... Once and never again...

We ordered takeaway several times (souvlaki and gyros). It doesn't take long for the food to be ready, even though the restaurant is very busy. The portions are generous (larger than is usually typical for Greeks), and the meat is very juicy. Update August 2024: We ate outside on site. The ambience is fine. We were satisfied with the food, but we couldn't finish everything and wanted to take our leftovers with us. No problem - our waitress gave us packaging. Unfortunately there is no mention of us having to pay extra for this! €1 was then charged for this on the invoice. It's a disgrace when the guest isn't even made aware of the fee of this amount for a "Styrofoam box" and instead seems to be hoping that no one will notice. A really good deal, because almost all of the surrounding tables that evening also took away food.

So I can't understand all the negative reviews. We were last here in 2018 and nothing has changed in terms of the quality of the food and the extremely friendly service. We were greeted warmly and given a table. The drinks and food came quickly and the quality is very good. People are always complaining, if it's too little, if it's too much🤷‍♀️People, who's supposed to do justice to that? Some reviews make me think that if you shout in, it will come back. If you don't want to eat a lot, you can let the service know and perhaps order a senior plate. Think about it!!!!! So friendly staff good food still highly recommended. Oh, and for those who like good toilets, I give this a grade of A!

The pita on hand was inedible. The meat was like leather and totally dry, the whole bread was soaked with fat and tasted stale. I also asked for onions to be left out, but they were still included. I've never returned food before, but I really didn't want to eat it. When I tried to return the food, it was refused because it was a Greek pita and that would probably not be to my taste and I would be out of luck. I asked to just get a regular fries, the chef refused screaming from the kitchen. The waitress said I was the first person who didn't like the food. A very unpleasant experience, as a restaurant you should be able to deal with criticism and not react so rudely. Very unfortunate.

Mega food, great portions! A very special compliment goes to the very friendly and patient service staff! (Despite the extremely unfriendly guests at the table next to them, they remained very professional and friendly. Anyone else would have had their fuse blown out! Embarrassment included! Dry red wine! Simply embarrassing for some guests! My conclusion is that you have to visit this place!

Great view of Eckernförde Bay, very good food, large portions, nice conditions and cheap too. What more could you want?

We had a normal portion and a small portion, but even the small portion was larger than a normal portion. Why such huge portions? We asked for a can to at least take the meat with us. I could observe the same thing at the neighboring tables. The waitress had no opinion on it.

Unfortunately, drinks were warm, without ice cubes and carbonated. Souvlaki was good. I can only advise against the gyros, half of them were greasy and inedible. Fries and rice are served together in a bowl. Rice bland and not tasty.

We went there spontaneously without a reservation and got a seat straight away. The restaurant is located right on the beach and you have a good view of the Baltic Sea. Paid parking spaces are available directly in front of the restaurant. The ambience was ok. It was pretty full of sculptures. The food came very quickly. I had a souvlaki “For a small appetite”. When the food was served to me, I asked if it was the right dish as the portion was large enough for a large appetite. But it was actually a "small" portion. The normal portions were much too big. As with any Greek, the food was nothing spectacular and tasted good. Price-performance was really fair. Due to the large number of guests, there was a lot of air very stuffy. A few open windows wouldn't have hurt. All in all, it was a cheap meal that definitely fills you up.

Were disappointed! Metaxa sauce and rice only tasted like ketchup. Table was glued. Staff did the minimum work. At the end we had to pack our own food.

Had dinner with friends at Crete yesterday. I thought I would do something good for all of us. We were greeted very kindly and brought to our table. Great view - directly over the Baltic Sea. My friends really liked it. Then it was time to order the drink It was an absolute failure. They didn't comply with our order requests - no onions on the meat, no ice in the drinks, etc. Instead we only got unfriendly answers. The so-called gyros gratinated with Metaxa sauce - the top hammer. Something like tomato and pepper Flour and a little cheese "tasty", it wasn't possible to finish. The fries - nothing crispy to be found. The salad tasted neither like him nor her. So, we were totally disappointed and I was so embarrassed, my friends were too to present something. As a cornerstone patron, I will no longer enter this store nor will I recommend it to others. The only positive thing was the view - at least my visit liked that. The view doesn't really fill you up. On that note....have a nice weekend

Unfortunately not a positive experience! I couldn't cancel my ordered meal after 1 minute "it was already taken to the kitchen", but I asked to do it anyway, after all only 1 minute had passed. "It's not possible" was the answer. OK, I got a meal that I didn't want wanted more but I can pack it for 1 euro extra ;-) Food came after 2 minutes (can it be that fresh?) Gyros was not good, wobbly and white. Bad taste.. Fries 0815, salad 0815. Metaxa sauce tastes bad like tomato sauce from the packet. We won't be coming back.

The only good thing about the Greek restaurant was the beautiful location on the beach. Unfortunately, the warm August evening could not be enjoyed in the outdoor area because it was closed. The waiters were only moderately attentive and not very friendly. The food was definitely not worth the price as it was simply fried. I certainly won't be returning there again.

The day we ate there it was packed. Not so nice, but no one could do anything about it. Despite having booked a table in advance, it took a few minutes longer until we were able to sit down. The service, busy right up to the last minute, was nevertheless extremely friendly. It took a while for our food to arrive, but it was sensational! Despite this abundance of people, the food was hot, freshly prepared and the best bifteki I have ever eaten! The fries are crispy, the salad is crunchy. The only tiny drawback, it really wasn't manageable. Such a huge portion

Yesterday we were in Crete again after a few years....!! Unfortunately, like last time, I was disappointed again...!! Same card as it has been for ages.... Service unfriendly and inattentive, were probably understaffed, for whatever reason...!! Food carelessly prepared and consistently under-seasoned or tasteless, regardless of whether it's a salad or a main course...!! The rice was a lump, the fries weren't crispy, the spinach was overcooked, the sauces had no taste...!! Unfortunately there is no salt and pepper at the table...it's a shame!!! Portions and price OK, BUT THAT can't be the claim...!!! Won't come again... Typical mass processing!!!

We ordered a grill plate for 2, the quantity was enough for 2 adults and two children 6 & 4 years old (even had a little extra). Our dog was also allowed into the restaurant, which made me very happy. The atmosphere is very cozy and the view directly over the sea there is simply nothing negative to say. Staff extremely friendly despite the busyness and stress. A tip: You should probably check the toilet more often. Many guests leave them underground.

My husband and I were greeted warmly and shown to a table. After a few minutes of thinking about what we wanted to eat and drink, our order was taken. After less than a minute the drinks arrived, followed by the side salad. And about 5 minutes later the food came. Portion was plentiful, prices reasonable. To recommend

The restaurant has a wonderful location right on the beach. We spontaneously got a table for 5 people outside on the terrace, which was really great. Let's get to food. Unfortunately, some of the food we received was only lukewarm. The gyro had a lot of fat and cartilage. Unfortunately the lamb was overcooked. At least the tzatziki was tasty. The big hit came with the billing. 3 of us wanted to take the rest of the plate that wasn't eaten with us so that it wouldn't be thrown away. The invoice was then charged €1/piece per packaging unit. I really find that a disgrace. So you have to pay money for it so that the food doesn't get thrown away!? Conclusion: Location is great, you don't have to have food again. A pity!

We were at Taverna Kreta for the first time today and were very impressed by the food, the ambience and service, and the staff were also very friendly. The food was more than tasty, but a bit much but we took it with us :) 5 stars are more than deserved :) it could be even more.

It was really nice, but unfortunately there was far too much on the plates, a shame about the food that ended up in the trash can. Then a child's plate had more on it than a child can eat.

A well located restaurant right on the beach. It is comfortably furnished and the food was good and arrived quickly, which we liked! After the meal, however, came the bad news, which ruined the whole thing for us, because all of a sudden we were told that the card payment wasn't working and that wasn't currently but for a long time and we weren't told that at the beginning! In addition, strangely enough, the colleagues' devices were working and we wanted to pay there, but that wasn't possible because it wasn't their area!!! I'm sorry, what??? Yes, it's exactly the same restaurant and we were denied it and in fact one of us had to stay there and the other was allowed to walk almost 20 to find an ATM to collect cash, which also cost us an extra fee!! ! Added to this was the somewhat smug nature of the waitress, who simply dismissed it in a very indifferent manner and just said it wasn't her problem! We were really angry and this 0 service thought, the inconvenient payment and the lack of information because of the possible non-card payment had us like that disappointed that we won't be coming back!

Like every year, Taverna Kreta is still one of our favorites when visiting Eckernförde. It's a shame, however, that the great outdoor terrace is no longer available. Given the great weather, we and others would have liked to sit outside. The wait staff had a lot to do and this time we often had the feeling that we were forgotten or ignored; I would have liked to have ordered more drinks, but we always rushed past the table without being noticed Let's try again, the food is definitely worth it

Always a pleasure: Taverna Crete We have visited the Taverna Kreta restaurant several times and have been impressed each time by the quality of the food and service. The food is always great. The dishes are authentic, tasty and well prepared. You can tell that the emphasis here is on fresh ingredients and traditional recipes. Every visit is a culinary experience. Particularly noteworthy is the efficient service. Once you have made a reservation, everything goes smoothly. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food comes to the table quickly. This contributes to a relaxed and pleasant visit to the restaurant. Overall, Taverna Kreta is a place that we always enjoy visiting. It offers consistently good quality, both in terms of food and service. We can only warmly recommend it and look forward to our next visit!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Taverne Kreta in Eckernförde and, as always, it was a wonderful experience. Even though I live 330 km away, I keep coming back - and for good reason. I ordered a gyro plate which was absolutely delicious. The meat was perfectly seasoned and tender, the sides were fresh and tasty. It is obvious that a lot of emphasis is placed on quality and authenticity here. The service at Tavern Crete is remarkable. The staff is always friendly, attentive and makes you feel welcome as a guest. It's rare to experience such outstanding service and is another reason why I keep visiting this place. The ambience of the tavern is also a highlight. With its cozy and inviting atmosphere you immediately feel at home. It's the perfect place to spend a relaxing evening and enjoy the food. Overall, I can only warmly recommend the Tavern Kreta in Eckernförde. It's always worth the trip and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Friendliness isn't really a priority here. Unfriendly reception and service. This goes well with the food. The gyro was dry and not at all crispy (in my opinion it was warmed up) and the fries with the dish were unfortunately totally greasy and wobbly. In addition, the food from the children's plate that was ordered was only lukewarm. When the waitress asked if everything was okay (we didn't even finish eating) I said no, her answer was "we're sorry we didn't suit your taste" and that was the end of it for her. Positive: large portions and you could also enjoy the drinks :)

I want to start this recession with our restaurant Crete. Crete has been a bank for as long as I have known it and that is certainly due to a top-notch team, whether in the kitchen or in service. In addition, there is no better location in Eckernförde and I find the atmosphere successful and pleasant. Not only are the dishes always consistently tasty, but they are also reasonably priced and the portions are generous. Reservations are always welcome and the uzo is then secured. I can and only want to recommend it.

Nice service, very friendly, asked several times if everything was OK. But the best thing was the grill plate we ordered. We have rarely had so much meat and delicious side dishes anywhere. If you have a big appetite, this is the right place for you. We were here with 4 people and felt like we were eating for 6. Big thanks to the operator, that was a great evening and a great meal. We'd love to come back.

We went to this restaurant without making a reservation in advance. Friendly welcome, friendly and attentive service and great food. We were very satisfied. Big portion. You'll get full here.

Unfortunately, the location and the ambience are not everything. I focus on the food and presentation when evaluating. As a starter we chose Kopanisti. This is a feta pepper cream. Unfortunately, it was a bit too liquid. Unfortunately, you could no longer feel the consistency of the feta. The feta was presented on Lollo Rosso lettuce leaves that were way too large. Nobody needs this because the leaves are thrown away afterwards. Three very compact warm rolls were served with this. We ignored this after a short tasting because then we definitely wouldn't have finished our main course. It turned out that our fears were true. For the main course we ordered gyros with Metaxa sauce and cheese gratin and bifteki. Both are served with sides: fries and rice and a large bowl of coleslaw. The coleslaw tasted bland and looked gray; it certainly wasn't fresh. A lot of tomato paste is added to the rice. This makes it compact. The Metaxa sauce was more of a tomato sauce, also enriched with tomato paste. You couldn't taste Metaxa in this sauce. Now about the portion size. I actually thought that a good kitchen today is concerned with making portion sizes balanced. From an economic point of view, it doesn't make sense to throw half of the portions into the food bin. But that's exactly what's happening here. The portion sizes feed 2 people. My bifteki was the size of a pizza calzone. Sorry guys, you can't handle food like that anymore. Less really is more here. A Greek restaurant should also be defined by quality and not by quantity. Please think economically and ecologically. Even if you mainly make your living from tourists and regular customers are probably not your target group, please think about your concept.

The restaurant is in a very nice and cozy place on the beach, delicious drinks and food, beautiful interior. It seems that everything is wonderful, but the impressions are spoiled by the unfriendly staff! That's the only thing we were dissatisfied with :(

Ordered gyros with fries and feta cheese outside of the house. The meat was mediocre and the fries were a bit greasy, soft and not crispy at all. It was more of a tragedy. The feta cheese resembled semolina porridge. However, the restaurant looked quite nice. Nevertheless, we definitely recommend the other Greeks in Eckernförde

Great food, good quality, large portions. Table decorations, setting and flair are OK but can still be improved. Great view of the fjord depending on where you sit.

If you change the opening times or the day of rest, you should also update the website. Today, April 3rd, 2024, I stood in front of closed doors and put €3 into the parking ticket machine for nothing. There were 8 of us standing here. We looked on the web beforehand and arrived from Kiel.

Best greek food i’ve ever had. Fast and friendly staff. Very big portions. Went there 2 days in a row and always got a seat next to the window with a beautiful view to the sea/beach. OBS! Can only pay by cash. Food tastes okay. Way too much food per portion. Not enough vegetables, and no pita with the gyros. All in all, not a great experience.

If you're very hungry, this is the right place for you. Because it's quick and the portions are huge. But everything seems a little hectic and the comfort suffers as a result. Important to know: payment only with cash!

We've been there twice so far. The first time it was super fast, despite the store being full. We had our drinks within 5 minutes and our food after another 10 minutes. Both were very tasty. And the service was good. The second time, the drinks went so quickly again, only the food took a little longer, but everything was still within limits. Unfortunately, the bifteki was only filled with very little cheese and my shrimp skewers were very "soft". We would definitely recommend the gyros from the first time, but not the shrimp. The service was always good and always attentive. A small note: if you can't manage much, you should take a can with you, as the packaging costs 50 cents.
