Spezzagrano in Hamburg

For me, this is without a doubt my current number 1 pizzeria for Neapolitan pizzas. The Magerita with buffalo mozzarella is a clear 11/10! Soft and crispy crust with a lovely roasted aroma from the oven. The juicy and fresh tomato sauce is simply delicious and blends with the melted mozzarella to create a brutally creamy tomato and mozzarella cream! I've eaten there several times now, and the quality remains consistent! Simply a top-notch business. The staff is very friendly, and the service has been impeccable so far! The description of the restaurant itself is that it has a pleasant ambiance both inside and in the secluded outdoor area! The interior is very cozy and inviting to dine. Plus, you can see the oven being used inside! Which gives you even more of a sense of craftsmanship. By the way, I also have to mention the bread they sell, because for the price, it's very tasty, soft, and crispy! Great for enjoying at home the next morning or evening! For me, the location is an 11/10

We were there yesterday after receiving recommendations. As a starter we had bread with olive oil - the bread was delicious, but we were there mainly because of the pizza. Unfortunately the pizza was very tasteless and a little bland. I was hoping for a lot more given the prices and recommendations. Price-performance rather mediocre 6 out of 10. As a comparison, the pizza at 60 Seconds to Napoli tasted much more intense and better. However, the service was very attentive and good, but the pizza could be improved. Overall 6 out of 10.

The three of us spontaneously sat down in the winter garden. This is possible in the afternoon at 3 p.m. We enjoyed very tasty pizza there. Unfortunately the desserts weren't great. The panna cotta was way too sweet, the sauce tasted weird.

Google Maps was the solution here. Since I know the Neapolitan pizza from a restaurant near me (Spaccaforno), I thought I had to test it out. We had a porchetta and diavola. Both pizzas were super tasty. We were very happy with the taste, the amount of ingredients, the fluffiness of the pizza crust (simply wonderful: ☁️) The location is also nice and well insulated. You don't even notice that the restaurant is on a main street. For my personal taste, our service staff could have been a little friendlier and smiled more. The facial expression was rather neutral, almost 'annoyed'. Nevertheless, his demeanor was friendly and courteous. I'd love to come back here when I'm on the block. 🤤👍🏻🫶🏼

Unfortunately, the store has slacked off a lot. The service seemed disorganized, unfriendly and slow. When we arrived, the employee at the desk couldn't find our reservation and sent us in. We were then ignored and then turned back to the free colleague in the entrance area and asked him to arrange. We had drinks (without ice) after just under 40 minutes, and food in two spurts after 70-80 minutes. Half of the food was ok but not more. The top of the calzone was pretty burnt and mostly just dough. The Salcicca Funghi pizza was very soggy and tasteless. Unfortunately no spicy Salcicca as expected. The mushrooms looked like they came from a can and released a lot of water. The pizza was correspondingly soggy. Unfortunately, the dough for all pizzas was rather tough. After the meal, when we were finally able to point out to the waitress that we wanted to pay, they suddenly joked around (which seemed very inauthentic to us) and even took a chair and sat with us at the table and very intrusively and clearly pointed out that there was a tip. We completely lacked sensitivity here. It's not enough to just be friendly and quick when it comes to money, so we left it with a small tip. I don't know if we just had a very, very bad day because it was already better, but the price performance in terms of service and taste no longer suits us.

I don't want to criticize badly, but the pizza had hardly any taste, even the dough tasted very bland and was very soft, spices such as salt and pepper were not on the table. Very disappointing visit!!! I went to this pizzeria on Wednesday evening with an old friend. Unfortunately, the visit was anything but pleasant. The waiter who served us was very condescending from the start and seemed like he didn't take us seriously at all. After we ordered our pizzas, he poured us drinks - then placed my bottle on the table so roughly that it almost tipped over. No apology, no look – he just walked away. The next problem: We waited a whole hour for our food. In the meantime, we saw that guests who had arrived after us had long since been served. It wasn't until about 60 minutes later that we finally got our pizzas. I ordered a tuna pizza - what I got was a complete disaster. The surface literally swam in the water. I might as well have ordered a bowl of soup. I was honestly too embarrassed to complain because I didn't want to put my old buddy in an uncomfortable situation. But that's not all: As soon as I had eaten my last piece of pizza (my drink was still almost full), the waiter came to our table and asked directly whether we would like to pay in cash or by card - without any sensitivity or decency. I was hoping that maybe he was just having a bad day. But I could observe how friendly and attentive he was with other guests. I had the feeling we were deliberately treated differently - maybe because we have black hair? I hope not, but the thought won't let me go. Conclusion: This was a very negative experience. Bad behavior, long waiting times, bad food – and above all a waiter who apparently decides which guests are “good enough”. I'm definitely not coming back.

I have nothing but praise for this restaurant, which has a very tasteful decor and is very cozy! They have an indoor area and a covered and glassed-in outdoor area. We had pizza and calzone, and they were delicious, with perfectly toasted dough.

Delivery via Uber Eats is disastrous. The food never arrives on time and the pizza is almost cold. Asking the restaurant about the delivery time doesn't help and you get the feeling that you're being a nuisance - you can't hope for an apology or compensation. Deliveries probably have little or no priority over on-site consumption. The food is wonderful (after it has been warmed up afterwards) but the delivery and the associated service are bottom drawer.

Oh stars! I've never written a restaurant review before. But since I'm still totally horrified about last night even after "sleeping on it for a night", I can't help it. We reserved a table at this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday. When we arrived the restaurant was busy. Despite reservations and explicit requests as to whether we could have another table, we were seated at the last table in the winter garden. This offered a view into the restaurant's warehouse, which I found very unpleasant. When I commented that there was a free table in the restaurant, they said that we couldn't get it because it was for 6 people and there were "only" four of us. Since we chose this restaurant based on a recommendation from friends, we wanted to give it a chance. After we received the card, the next disappointment followed. There is not a single pasta dish... After half an hour of waiting, we were finally allowed to place an order. The drinks and the appetizer came a quarter of an hour later. However, we had to wait longer than an hour for the pizza... I really can't understand why the pizzas are so highly praised. I chose a pizza with rocket, ham and parmesan. The pizza was lukewarm, limp and totally overpriced. It was definitely not worth €20.50. From start to finish we spent 2.5 hours in the restaurant! Our conclusion: once and never again!!!!!

Unfortunately our first visit to Spezzagrano was a bad experience. We came without a reservation and got a table straight away. We didn't hear anything else from any waiter for half an hour. He just kept walking past us. At some point we casually received the drinks menu. After another 15 minutes we had to ask ourselves if we could order because the waiter just walked past us. There was another 30 minutes between the starter and the main course. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired, we were only attended to three times during the entire visit. There was also no question in between asking whether everything was good with the food. Unfortunately we won't be coming back because of this experience.

Unfortunately we ordered through ueber eats with a waiting time of 30-50 minutes. After more than 60 minutes, we contacted Spezzagrano to ask when the order would arrive. The journey to us would have been about 8 minutes. The employee on the phone lied to us because he told us that the food was on the way - after another 20 minutes, we called again. This employee told us the order hadn't even been processed yet. We canceled on the phone and via eats. Ordered from Spaccaforno and the pizzas were with us within 30 minutes. Thank you, never again Spezzagrano.

Restaurateur absolutely overwhelmed with the guests and the reservations. We reserved a table for six people at 6:30 p.m. and at 7 p.m. we were still standing and waiting for the table. This happened not only to us but also to other people. So there were more than ten people with jackets waiting in line, waiting for a table or their ordered food, see photo. I felt like I was standing at the train station because a delivery driver with a big backpack kept coming in and out. Shortly after 7 p.m. we finally sat at the table and as an apology everyone was given liqueur. Shortly afterwards the orders were taken and the drinks were brought quickly. Food came almost an hour later. Food was great in terms of quality, taste and craftsmanship! At the end there was a short one on the house. Service and reparations were great! Nevertheless, the logistics definitely need to be worked on here.

You can order zero here. I've probably ordered 4-5 times (2 pizzas), and the pizza came 3 hours later at 10 p.m. Then we won't be hungry anymore. The pizza was delicious, but the service…. We have rarely been served so badly. Isn't even paid attention to after ordering? But what makes us never come here again: the owner couple (?) were arguing right in front of our table and just wouldn't stop. Behind the counter the game started all over again. And after paying, we wanted to talk to her (the blonde lady) again about the fact that you can't do something like that in front of guests. And what was her reaction? You were also teased by her with an Italian temperament (and she's a Ukrainian) blah blah blah and then you became totally mushy. Sorry, we'll never go to this store again.

Exceptional pizza! A colleague booked a table for us in this restaurant. We were announced as a group of 12 people. Instead of being in the restaurant, our table was outside. At 0 degrees Celsius, several gas stoves and blankets were or were ready. The outside area looked like a makeshift party tent. Our main course arrived 80 minutes after we ordered. Previously we were able to place drink orders twice. My lemonade was served in a glass bottle that was obviously imported from Italy. The colleague had made two statements: the restaurant had a Michelin star and was the best Italian in Germany. As a result, I came with very high expectations. Neither service nor food could fulfill this. There are also Italians in Hamburg who offer better service and high-quality food (Casa die Roma). That's why my question is how I would rate it if my colleague had spoken of a pizzeria: 80 minutes for pizza is not acceptable. The pizza was exceptional and delicious. If you prefer to drink Italian water and don't believe in climate change, you should consider adding a Google star here.

Worst service I have ever experienced. Waited 2 hours for the pizzas. Excuses were always made up. In the end we canceled it. Neither received the money back nor the pizzas

In my opinion, this pub doesn't have enough space and pizza doesn't taste particularly good.

The food was generally delicious (we ordered pizza and crostini). But in my opinion the price-performance ratio is not right. However, this primarily applies to the crostini. At €17.50 for a slice of toasted bread, I expect the appropriate quantity and quality of ingredients. Neither one nor the other could justify the high price. One more little thing - unfortunately one of the toppings was forgotten on a pizza - but that's not the deciding factor for the 3 stars.

We had made reservations online for New Year's Eve 2024 evening. When we arrived we were immediately informed that only the New Year's Eve menu was available for €65 per person. is possible. Apparently it was not possible to add/update this information in the online reservations in advance and the boss had therefore called all guests over the last few days to let them know. But we didn't receive a call (and in times when you see unanswered calls, you can certainly say that) and there was no word on the official website about the exclusive New Year's Eve menu, nor was there anything on social media . That's why we very much doubt that open communication really wanted to take place here... Due to a lack of time, we still decided on the menu and stayed. Our table neighbors had the same problem and didn't know about a must-have menu. When they wanted to leave, the boss suddenly backtracked and made a normal al-la-carte order possible for them. You then feel very ripped off, as only with threats would something else have been possible. During the course of the evening we also saw that other tables did not receive the courses of the prescribed menu either. Maybe there were complaints here too... So be it. We tried to make the best of it. But the service didn't make that possible either. We had to draw attention to each course of the menu, we had to wait a long time in between, our drink orders were forgotten, our food was mistakenly brought to the next table, etc. However, the food and the location were quite good, you have to give it to the shop - the kitchen does a decent job. Nevertheless, the whole New Year's Eve was a failure for us. We were clearly ripped off at Spezzagrano, there's no other way to say it. Maybe we should have complained more like other tables, but we're not the types for that. The expensive menu was forced on us and after the last course you can clearly say that €65 per person. were never justified. Rip-off through and through. We would never visit the store again and would not recommend it to others. Italian hospitality and gastronomy are definitely different!

We were there on New Year's Eve and without any warning (neither when making a reservation nor on the Instagram page) there was only a largely prescribed New Year's Eve menu for €65 per person. Offering only such a menu is fine in itself, but then you have to announce it in advance and not just when the guest is already sitting at their table - unfortunately that's not possible! We also noticed the same situation at the neighboring tables, so we weren't an isolated case, it was the same for everyone and in the end it's just a nasty rip-off. The absolute highlight was when the table right next to us was suddenly allowed to order à la carte... from that moment on the restaurant visit was over and we simply felt ripped off! P.s. Apart from that, the service was average at best. We had to order every course of the menu ourselves, and the staff's initiative was almost nil. Therefore only a bad rating is possible, even if the food itself doesn't deserve it...

We had a really great evening with delicious food. We can only recommend the Spezzagrano to everyone, the Neapolitan pizza and the dessert were simply heavenly.

Were there on Friday last week. Pizza tasted good, classic Neapolitan, but no different level than others. Now my criticism, it felt like there were 20 employees walking around there, but no one felt really responsible for our table. Everyone was nice, no question, but it took about 10 minutes for the first contact. Then the food was taken and we waited for about 20 minutes, completely normal but then what we mean by service completely collapsed. No asking whether it tastes good, no proactively asking if you want to drink something else. No active serving of the dessert menu. We had to ask about this and it was also strange that the management apparently cashed in…. Why?!?! Not to mention that I couldn't assign a tip to any waiter because we always had someone else. In summary, overall we didn't feel noticed at all, as one would normally expect from Italians. Ps, and charging over eight euros for two standard scoops of ice cream is just audacious.

The Lolal is super great, the food was super delicious. Service was ok, but the waiting time until the food finally came was shockingly long. We had to wait more than 1 and a half hours. Unfortunately that's not good. Prices are ok for food because the quality is good, but it's way too expensive for drinks.

This place had been on my must-visit list for a long time, and I’m so glad I finally made it! It was such a wonderful experience. I highly recommend stopping by to fully enjoy authentic Italian cuisine. The 'Diavola' pizza was absolutely to die for - the best I’ve ever had. The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. I’ll definitely be coming back again!
