Soban - Korean Dining in Stuttgart

I like the restaurant, one of the better Korean restaurant in Stuttgart, actually I would say the best one, as the rest aren’t real Korean restaurants. The food is not super authentic tasting, but I reckon that is because some things needed to be adapted to the locals taste, so it is okay. The staff is super friendly, and overall menu selection is good.

Having never eaten Korean food before, the staff provided excellent advice and service! The food left nothing to be desired, and the service was impeccable. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

We arrived from Frankfurt last night and arrived at Subaru Stuttgart at 8:54 p.m. Although the opening hours were listed until 10:00 p.m., we weren't served. The employee had already packed up the seats on the right side and told us he was alone and therefore couldn't serve us. Even when I explained that we had come all the way from Frankfurt, he didn't care—he just said he was very tired. It was a very disappointing and unprofessional experience for us.

The food was great, huge portions... I would recommend ordering just one dish. The prices are absolutely reasonable for the size. The staff was friendly, but there was only one waiter, who still managed to serve everyone well.

Overall a pleasant experience, the service was at times a little slow as they only had two people serving food and drinks. The mains were tasty and the kimchi on the side were also a pleasant addition. My only complaint is that the fried chicken portions were massive (more to share for 2 than a single serving). It would have been nice to have like an option of chicken as a side (maybe 3-4 wings) instead of the massive plate if someone wanted to try it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a very good experience at Soban Stuttgart. Last time, part of my chicken was unfortunately forgotten, but when I returned, I not only received the missing dish, but also a voucher – very thoughtful! The food here is really delicious, and it stays fresh and tasty even for takeout. However, it would be better if there were a few more staff members to speed up service.

While on a business trip to Germany, I visited a Korean restaurant. The jjambbong, yangnyeom chicken, kimchi stew, and bibimbap were all delicious. The jjambbong, which I had when I was starting to get tired of heavy German food, was the real deal! The portions were generous across the board. The staff was friendly and the service was excellent.

Even though many tables have already become available in the restaurant, the staff simply doesn't call the waiting guests in. The staff's behavior is truly difficult to understand, and the service seems very cold.

Been to this place again after a while. I was red fried chicken and they didn’t serve it for a while. It was so worth going there again. All the food was amazingly good. Also the sides. Fried chicken is a huge portion and so delicious.

Incredible food and super kind staff

I wonder if the management of this restaurant have changed. We used to go here a a lot specially for their fried chicken. Now its awfull. They always run out. why would a restaurant like this would run out of chicken with bones? Such a big disappointment when you crave for something the entire day then you drive a long way just to find out they dont have the dish that you are longing for

I ordered a stew and soju, but this is the first time in my travels around the world that I've seen a "Korean restaurant" that doesn't serve rice with the stew. The menu clearly states that the stew comes with rice, and they didn't even give me a discount for the rice when I paid. The food tasted like it was cooked by a college student living alone in Korea. Furthermore, judging by the fact that I had an upset stomach after the meal, I think the people running this place believe that frail modern people need to become stronger.

My bi bim guk su were delicious. Just like in Korea. It was quite spicy, so those who can't handle that should be careful. You can skip the mandu; it's almost certainly frozen. Service was friendly and quick.

The food is delicious every time I go. The service is very friendly, but it takes a while to get to you. Sometimes there are differences in quantities over a few days. I once ordered something and it was quite large, but I went back and ordered the same thing and it wasn't even half the size of the previous order.

A very cute place in stuttgart to eat authentic Korean food! The portions are good and the taste was really amazing! I will definitely be back! Even my husband enjoyed the meal, and he’s not a fan of Asian food. PS: they don’t serve korean fried chicken anymore, due to staff shortage.

We were lucky and got a free table. Unfortunately, the restaurant was uncomfortably warm and stuffy with the warm outside temperatures, and the few fans weren't enough to create a pleasant indoor climate. "Due to a lack of staff," they unfortunately didn't offer fried meals or cold soups, which was a real disappointment for me personally. The service was very friendly, but unfortunately, we had to wait a long time for our order, then for our drinks, and then for the food. The beer was lukewarm, a complete no-go, and there was no non-alcoholic wheat beer available. The dishes were okay, but overall nothing spectacular. The kimchi was also unfortunately quite chewy and not particularly flavorful. Unfortunately, one of us received his meal almost 20 minutes before the others, and another colleague was missing a specially ordered side dish, which was delivered more than ten minutes later. Overall, the service and cuisine didn't seem well-coordinated. A generous three stars, but there's plenty of room for improvement...

First time I've gone there & no one was there. They were all in the park smoking. No one bothered to see if I wanted anything as I stood in the doorway & looked right at them.

It's really... very... delicious. I ordered jjambbong and the broth is rich. I want to eat it again right now. The side dishes are also lightly seasoned and delicious. It's run by a Korean, so it definitely has a proper Korean flavor, and the server is friendly. It was my first time there, so I expected a wait, but it exceeded my expectations when I ate there. It was a little hot inside the restaurant because there was only a fan spinning (mid-June), but after sweating profusely and eating spicy and hot Korean food, I felt like I had a proper meal. I'm hungry as I write this review. This is a restaurant I'll definitely visit again next time I go to Stuttgart.

So delicious! Five of us friends came, and we were all very satisfied. The food tasted fantastic. We had a variety of dishes, meat, veggie, all with amazing flavors. We're deducting a little because you can't make reservations and the staff were a little...disorganized 😄 No offense intended. All in all, highly recommended! We'd be happy to go back.

We went to Soban and came right as they opened back up for lunch time and the main reason we went was for Korean fried chicken but they were sadly out. It was honestly so saddening to hear. We ordered quite a few things and I did really enjoy the tteokbokk and the gun mandu did taste good. In general the meal was good but I’d rate it a 5/10 as it was average for our palate. Wasn’t bad but wasn’t exhilarating The staff was very kind and attentive.

My friend and I came here specifically to try their fried chicken, but unfortunately, they don’t serve it on this Saturday. So instead, we ordered the tteokbokki, kimchi pancake, bibimbap, and squid rice. Sadly, none of the dishes matched our expectations or taste preferences. The staff didn’t inform us beforehand that the fish cakes in the tteokbokki were missing due to transportation issues. Although they added more tteokbokki to compensate, the portion was still very small. We ended up returning the dish (thanks to the staff for understanding). The clam in kimchi pancake had a very unpleasant clam taste — quite fishy and off-putting. The rest of the dish and the sauce were okay. My friend thought the bibimbap was very mediocre — the rice lacked fragrance, and the crispy elements weren’t crispy at all. Just not enjoyable. As for my squid rice, it was a total disaster. The menu showed crispy squid rings on rice, but what I got were stiff squid strips. To make matters worse, after eating, both my friend and I experienced allergic reactions — my arm and their lower back started itching and swelling. Other than the complimentary kimchi before the meal and two soft drinks, I would not recommend this place at all. Very disappointing experience.

I told them to come after calling 15 minutes in advance and they said they would prepare a table for me, but when I went, I was turned away at the door. Did I tell you not to come?

The service was an absolute disaster. Unfriendly, slow and completely disorganized. You don't feel like you're being taken seriously, and questions are either not responded to at all or are responded to extremely late. I have rarely experienced something like this - there is a complete lack of professionalism here. Definitely not recommended.

A very fruitful experience. Although there were free seats inside, the place wasn't cleaned up, so the guests had to wait outside for half an hour – without any explanation or consolation. After the guests came in, the latecomers were actually allowed to order first, while those who came first had to wait another 20 minutes and were completely ignored. The waiter's attitude was extremely unfriendly. I was originally willing to wait an hour because of the appealing food, but the nature of the service made the wait very unpleasant. Although there were obviously three waiters, it seemed as if they didn't care about the guests at all. I have never experienced a restaurant so anti-customer. This is absolutely a very BIG CATASTROPHE!!!!!!

The service is great and food here is not bad at all really, but it’s not really quite what I was looking for. I’m Korean and was hoping for more like authentic style taste, but I think this Korean restaurant is meant more for non-Korean palate. I went here with an American friend and he loved his bulgogi order but he’s never had Korean food in Korea before so nothing for him to compare. I had ordered the tofu bean curd stew (doen jang jiggae) and it was just okay. The banchan was not fab either. But I’ll still give this place another try and order something like the dumplings or bibimbap. Again, the food was not bad, but just not authentic enough for new. And who knows, it might’ve just been the specific dishes I ordered or the cooks that night, I don’t know.

I have been here many times, and almost all the family has their favorite dishes. No reservations are required, which is very convenient. The dishes are a bit inconsistent at times, and sometimes the meat is a bit stale.

Great Korean food in a snack bar atmosphere. Service is a bit slow and unstoppable. Fairly priced. At peak times you sometimes have to wait for a short time.

Unfortunately the food was unsalted and overpriced for a €15 pancake. Unfortunately there was no chicken to order. The service was okay, but not super friendly either. You can take food to go.

Finally my wife's dream (a fan of Korean dramas and K-pop) came true and we visited this restaurant with authentic Korean cuisine. In the classic sense of a European restaurant, this one looks more like a small eatery, but that's the concept of most Korean restaurants (like Doramen). Simple furniture (tables, chairs) made of wood in a family atmosphere without excessive chic and luxury. The kitchen is conveniently located in the hall and is partially visible through the partition walls. For those who are not familiar with Korean dishes, I recommend reading the menu very carefully, otherwise you may end up staying hungry and not eating what you ordered. The problem is that many of the dishes are very spicy, such as the soup I ordered. Very spicy! Before ordering, ask the staff about the exact taste of the dish. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The waiting time for your order is no longer than 10-15 minutes. The broken entrance door and the not entirely clean toilet, as well as the floor in the restaurant, did not spoil our overall impression of the visit. I recommend stopping by and trying Korean chicken wings and drumsticks!

You cant specifically tell this a restaurant, it is more of a kebab place with few tables added. Very noisy with all cooking done in front. Too cold,somehow cold air still keeps coming in the restaurant. Food is just not at korean dish standards.

((Edited)) Hair came out in the bibimbap. I wrote that it was good for hygiene, but I am canceling it. I didn't even order tteokbokki, but when I told the staff, they said they forgot. Since I had already eaten all of my food, I asked them to cancel what I didn't add, and they said oh perfect. ^^ I don't think I'll go again. The food is delicious, but every time I come, I have to wait 40-50 minutes after ordering. Even if I order water and cola, they don't bring it to me right away and it takes a really long time to get my order. I know it's busy, but out of all the restaurants I've been to, this is the slowest. And once the door is opened, it doesn't close automatically, so there are times when it gets too cold while eating. Moon: I think you really need to improve. Personally, it's the best Korean food I've had in Germany and I want to bring my friends to this restaurant, but because of the above two things, I'm hesitant to bring my acquaintances to this restaurant... Ich weiß, dass dort viel los ist, aber von allen Restaurants, in denen ich bisher war, ist dieses das langsamste. And wenn die Tür einmal geöffnet ist, schließt sie nicht automatisch, sodass es beim Essen manchmal zu kalt wird. Ich denke, die Tür muss wirklich verbessert werden. Für mich ist das das beste koreanische Essen, das ich in Deutschland gegessen habe, und ich möchte meine Freunde hierher mitbringen, aber aufgrund der beiden oben genannten Dinge zögere ich, meine Bekannten hierher mitzubringen. The food is good, and the prices are very reasonable. The only thing that I find offending is the tiny amount of the pickles they serve! This is not the Korean way! Just look at it! Hard to look at these pickles' amount without a laugh 😂

I went there because they had jjamppong, and I really enjoyed the jjamppong rice... There were a lot of vegetables and seafood, and the soup wasn't very thick, but it was still spicy and delicious... It's been a while since I ate hot soup wrapped in rice in Europe. It's hot to the core, and although it's not cheap at 15 euros, it's still a filling meal... After all, Korean food is the best... The atmosphere is clean and Korean style. It's a slightly pricey Korean restaurant, so it has a lot of menu and it's clean! Highly recommended! Also, the person cooking seems to be Korean.

Small Korean restaurant with really good food. Service is very nice. If you can't use chopsticks, you get normal cutlery. Tip: When you order a spicy dish, you have to be sure that it is really spicy. Reservations are recommended because the restaurant is busy.

A very good and authentic Korean at Berliner Platz in Stuttgart. Very good cuisine, friendly but unfortunately extremely slow service in a nice atmosphere due to the lack of service staff. The prices are really ok for the relatively large portions. You have to expect waiting times as the Soban is actually always busy.

Food is 10/10, but service is the most chaotic and poorly organized, which you rarely experience in this poor state. My tip: order food and have it packed.

Small Korean restaurant in Stuttgart (Berliner Platz). The food was very tasty, the three of us had the popular dish bibimbap, as it felt like everything else was no longer in stock. The waiting time was a bit annoying. We waited almost 60 minutes until we could get to a table and another 30 minutes until the food came. So take your time if you want to eat there. On cold days you will be asked to wait outside as the restaurant is a bit smaller. So dress warmly! The staff was very nice and did their best to make everyone happy.

My husband and I went there for the first time. An interesting concept, you have to wait in front of the shop until the staff shows you to the table. The restaurant is small and the tables are arranged one after the other, almost like a fast food restaurant. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The price-performance ratio is ok. Since we don't go out to eat Korean often, we can't give the best review of the food. We enjoyed it. I ordered squid, unfortunately it was a bit rubbery, which I thought was a shame. On the day we were there, the machine was. Door was broken. It often stayed open too long, so when the outside temperature was 5°C it was very cold and uncomfortable inside, despite the spicy food 😉 Nevertheless, we'll be back 🤗

The food wasn't very tasty and expensive for what you get. The service was very slow because there wasn't enough staff.

Actually all the dishes are delicious, but the fried chicken is better than the competition. Because your fried chicken doesn't have cartilage or rubber. what exactly that is - which isn't very appetizing. That's why I come to you more for bulgogi bap and dakgalbi bap because they are fantastic 🫶

The Korean restaurant generally left a good impression. The food was tasty, the portions were generous and the staff was friendly. What is particularly noteworthy is that pickled vegetables were served as a side dish. Unfortunately there was a dead fly in it, which greatly spoiled the otherwise positive impression. I brought this to the attention of staff but I was not offered a solution or compensation, which I found disappointing.

Food very tasty, waitresses change frequently and almost always super slow and rushed. But it's super nice, and it's usually pretty quick.

The environment is not good, the ground is full of water, it is sticky. Are the staff busy? They are unable to provide good and efficient service. The dishes are all pre-made dishes or meal packages, and most food are awful. The fried chicken has no taste. The bibimbap is cold and the portion is small. The cold noodles only have one kind and taste disgusting. As a person who loves Korean food, I have never had such a disappointing experience, both in terms of taste and atmosphere. We left with empty and cold stomachs and felt dissatisfied. The price is high and the value for money is low. I would not recommend this!

I've been to Soban 3-4 times and every time it's a new experience. One time it's super duper and the other time they make us wait an hour to pay even though we called for a waiter twice. Plus the chef forgets the pasta? (the main character of the dish, so to speak) So I had soup and meat but the poor glass noodles had to wait for me in the kitchen! However, the food is really tasty and the chicken wings are to die for! Overall I would give Soban three stars.

I eat Korean food often, but I've never had such bad soup. I had a soup with vegetables and beef. The soup was extremely salty, so I let them know and asked for some hot water to be added. However, only a little water was added, which didn't help. I couldn't eat the soup, and just the little soup I tried made me sick. To get such a stomach ache for €19 is simply unfair. I will never go there again. It's not worth the money.

We were here because the competition next door was closed and so we had no expectations. In the end, we left satisfied - the restaurant was empty at 12 p.m., the service at the table was correspondingly quick, as was the food. The Tteok-bokki, Gun mandu and the fried chicken (sweet chili and sweet garlic) were very tasty, although the price was rather more expensive. The sweet chili chicken was our favorite; If you love garlic, you will also like the other fried chicken. We'll be back!

I have eaten here several times. The food it's really nice (a solid 4 of 5 in my opinion). The price is totally fair for Stuttgart. The fried chicken is totally recommended, I tried the original ones and the sweet soy sauce. The ribs (pig) are also well done. I would come again without doubts. The service could be a little slow at peak hours but I think it's worth it if you aren't in a rush.

Ok so I arrived on Tuesday and not so crowded time which was around 17:30 pm. They came to take order around 18:30 pm exactly after an hour. The staff ignored us and literally served the people from their country while we being international crowd were ignored.

The Korean food is really delicious. I can only recommend eating the entire menu. Unfortunately there are too few staff so the waitress takes a long time to take an order or bring the bill. It happens that you leave here with the smell of food in your clothes because it's an open kitchen. I generally recommend reserving a table from 6:30 p.m. if you don't want to wait 15 - 30 minutes.

Always love the food here but today was a bit disappointing. My food set costs about €25 but the lettuce that came with it was covered in some dark juices on it. Usually I would just throw funny looking piece away and continue eating. But it was pretty bad this time. The staffs were nice and apologetic about the situation. They also took the lettuce back to clean it again. It was overall still delicious, but for the price I I expect not to see vegetables that are almost rotten on my plate

The food is super good and the service is always quick and friendly. The ambience is very sweet. Not huge but not that small either, typical Korean sit down restaurant. Can't complain for authentic food. Every now and then, for example on a Friday evening, you have to wait in line for about 5-10 minutes if it gets really busy because you can't make a reservation. The pictures are all from different times when I was there. For vegetarians there is (almost) every dish without meat/fish etc. :) The Korean fried chicken is a huge portion with large pieces and wild potato wedges, worth the money to share. The portions for bulgogi and bibimpap are quite large for everyone who wants to share. Kimchi fried rice and kimchi jigge are portions that you can easily manage on your own (this applies to all types of jigge). I would love to come back every time. I can really recommend it ☺️

For us Koreans abroad, Soban is the best and most authentic. We often drive there just for the food (2 hour drive).

Ridiculous. There are plenty of seats there, but the waiter was just chatting with two girls. For the rest of us guests waiting in the restaurant for a table, he just kick us out and let us waiting outside the door. Basically he just did two things for the 25min I waited there: chatting with two girls and kept telling the guest to go outside and wait

Very tasty Korean cuisine and big meals too! We've eaten here several times now and, like the last few times, we weren't disappointed. I had Korean Fried Chicken and my girlfriend had soup with ribs. We can definitely recommend Soban and would be happy to come back!

It would be good if the menu were updated online. Two years ago Bibimbap Tofu was €11.50 today €17, exactly the same as with beef. Is this how you follow the vegan trend?! Ordered to take away but same price as restaurant. And then you didn't get the little miso soup that comes with it when you eat inside. Weak, weaker, Soban. There are much better Koreans in Stuttgart now.

Of all the Korean foods in Stuttgart, this one is the most Korean. If you want to eat Korean food, eat it here instead of somewhere else. But it's hot and it's only a card.

I've been to Soban Heidel Mannheim Karlsruhe and tried them all, but they were all delicious... The stud was a bit disappointing... The kimchi pork was spicy and not that tasty... There should be a menu... Chef's re-education Vite... The star rating is old. Perfect score

I was totally happy with everything! The food came quickly, looked great and was a lot. And wow it was so delicious! Really like Korea! And I thought it was really great that you got free side dishes. The restaurant was also very large, so you didn't have to wait even though it was busy. Definitely go there again!

We didn't have a reservation. The waitress took great care of us so we didn't have to wait long. We'd love to come back.

Very delicious Korean food. Boneless fried chicken is superb. Everything else was authentic and very much to our liking. We will be back for more. The server did a great job, since he had to serve the entire restaurant on his own there was some downtime. The restaurant was packed with guests. He still did a very good job!
