Mandu in Stuttgart

The supposedly "authentic" Korean food tastes more like cheap fast food: soft rice, minced meat mixed with syrup instead of beef, overly sweet sauces, and a salad that lacks freshness. The service is barely comprehensible—the staff not only seem unfriendly but almost give the impression that you should be grateful to be allowed to eat there; even in heavy rain, guests are sent outside to wait. And the ambiance? More like a train station cafeteria: loud, cramped, and furnished without any care—completely lacking in atmosphere. Cheap, perhaps, but only at the expense of quality and experience.

It was delicious 🤤 When I come back to Stuttgart, I already know where to eat. Thank you for everything, and also for preserving not only the food but also the culture and traditions. I love you

BEST JAPCHAE and I say this as a japchae snob...! I think it was the best I've had outside of korea. Unfortunately they don't do kimbab anymore, so I ordered a bunch of other things as take out. Service was fast and efficient. Its a small place, so it was actually very full but I wasn't bothered while waiting. I also had the gunmandu, which were fried perfectly.

A really great spot – super delicious food, a simple menu with all the most popular dishes. We tried a lot of things, and we especially recommend the bibimbap, soy chicken, and the nine-piece mandu! We'll definitely be back ☺️ Cool that you're in Stuttgart!

It didn't taste bad, and the texture of the meat and vegetables was really great. We found the price-performance ratio mostly acceptable, mainly due to the portion size. At first, everything seemed fine, but after the first few bites, we got the impression that it was at least partially souped-up (but good) ready-made food. For example, the sauce on the tokokki tasted exactly like the industrially prepared version from an Asian grocery store, and the soup tasted like an intensely flavored, chemical instant soup. We like to have this kind of thing at home now and then, but when I eat out, I expect more. The restaurant is geared towards efficiency and minimal staffing in the dining area, and I suspect the same is true in the kitchen. I suspect there's little manual work involved and a lot of industrially produced, flavor-enhanced products – at least, that's what my taste buds tell me. It's okay to try once, but we won't be going back. We'll try another Korean restaurant.

It's always a pleasure to come here. The Mandu is just as lovely as the one in Bonn. If you come as a couple and sit at the counter, you usually don't have to wait long. The owner is incredibly friendly and takes orders from the tablet faster than anyone else. Besides that, the food is absolutely fantastic – every single time. I've tried everything on the menu multiple times. The kimchi or meat mandu, the kimchi jeon, and the dakganfjung are absolute must-haves. For cold days, I can also highly recommend the braised dishes (jeyuk bokum and dakgalbi).

The food is not good, especially the tofu things are bad, most of the food is overpriced and can be easily made at home.

The food is always delicious and the side dishes are fantastic, and there's also a wide selection of drinks. The shop is self-service, and you can easily pay by card. During peak times, expect longer wait times, especially with groups, as the crowds are always large. Overall, highly recommended!

We had lunch there today, and I have to say it was better than I imagined. The staff was super friendly, the wait wasn't long (we only had 10 minutes), everything was super freshly made, and we didn't have to worry about anything. For those who don't like spicy food, we recommend trying bimbimbab, and for those who like spicy food, we recommend ramyon. The vegetable mandu and the spicy Korean fried chicken are also highly recommended. Mas-issneun eumsig gamsahabnida. 😁

My girlfriend and I went there yesterday for dinner before the cinema. I can't remember the last time we had such a stomachache after eating. In terms of taste, we found it rather inferior compared to other Korean restaurants.

Two of us went to the restaurant today. It's quite small and manageable – you might like it, but you don't have to. The long line outside gave us hope that the wait would actually be worth it. Inside, however, we immediately got the feeling that everything had to move quite quickly. Looking at the menu in peace? Rather difficult. We opted for ramen and the spicy chicken. Unfortunately, both were disappointing – they tasted more like ready-made meals from the Asian market next door. All in all, I wouldn't recommend the restaurant. There are definitely better options for Korean food in Stuttgart.

Very tasty food at a good price. The food was always ready quickly and always looked good. The only drawback is the waiting line, but if you go outside of peak hours, it's not a problem. The staff is always super friendly, too. A definite recommendation!

I had Dakgalbi here. It was delicious but you should be prepared to wait in line a little.

I found the food rather mediocre. The long line outside is due to social media (especially TikTok, which is where I learned about this restaurant from). Everything is very rushed and small, which makes you feel like you have to rush your food and can't really enjoy it. If you want Korean food, there are many other restaurants in Stuttgart that I personally prefer, based on the ambiance and the taste of the food.

Really good if you want to go out for a spontaneous meal with two or four people. However, expect to wait outside the restaurant; it's very crowded and very noisy. The food is excellent.

They were great 3 years ago. But yesterday the kimchizzige dish had uncooked tomato sauce and super watery, didn’t taste like kichi or broth!!! And the kimchi side dish was absolutely tasteless. Not going back. The tuna on bibimbob was super dry, they might have had it open for some time…

Sorry, the fried chicken was terrible. I think frozen fried chicken from Asian supermarkets is better than this. Korean fried chicken is unbeatable when it's done well, but it's hard to say if it's not. The kimchi pancake was also very oily and not tasty. The only good thing was the Coke. Overall, the service was good.

Caution: Spicy! The food was really delicious! But it was a bit spicy for the "German" palate. Be aware of that beforehand. Otherwise, I highly recommend it. Everything we tried was truly delicious.

We ordered bulgogi and fried mandu. The bulgogi was excellent as always, but the mandu weren't as crispy as expected. I've been going to this restaurant for years when I go to Stuttgart. There's a short wait of no more than 20 minutes outside, then you can choose a table inside or outside if the weather is nice. You order at the counter and pay there. If it's busy, there's a wait of about 30 minutes. So far, I'm satisfied and will be back :)

Tastes excellent. The best Korean restaurant in Stuttgart. Unfortunately, however, it's a very small place and often overcrowded, meaning you have to expect a wait. The opening hours are abysmal. The kitchen closes almost an hour before closing time. If you work, there's no point in coming here. The phone number is 0! We drove here for nothing. Luckily, the competition is open later.

I can recommend it. The price/performance ratio is decent, the food was very tasty, and the guy at the counter was friendly and helpful. The only downside is that you can't reach anyone by phone to pre-order your food. With a 30-minute lunch break, a 15-minute wait for food isn't really worth it if you want to eat your food during your break, depending on how far you are from Mandu.

Our go-to korean spot in the city :) good food to reasonable prices and they’re quite fast as well! in july/august they sell naengmyeon / cold noodles and they’re great! recommendation: fried chicken and bulgogi or kimchi jjigae in the winter time! :-)

The food is yummy. The prices are fair. The staff is nice. One thing you should consider is that the place is small, so it's nearly impossible to get a table if you're more than 4 people, and even with fewer people you might be standing in line for a while. Also you need to have patience since the food takes quite long to arrive (even when the place is empty). But if you like Korean food, then I guess it's worth it :) There used to be physical menus which you could flip through, but now there's a QR code and you read the menu on your phone which is much less convenient :( Recommend: kimchi jeon (marked as spicy, but isn't at all), tteok-bokki (careful - spicy!), the 3 types of mandu (=dumplings), vegetarian mandukuk soup, dakgangjung (fried chicken) in soy sauce, and the warm plum tea :)

My friends and I have been going to Mandu for years. Today I went with my boyfriend, and we both got bibimbap and a kunmandu, as always. It's the best combo!! Today there was plenty of sauce, and everything tasted absolutely delicious. Mandu never disappoints with this combination!!

Disappointing experience – unfortunately not recommended I had high hopes for this restaurant, but I was disappointed: The food was overall very mediocre and seemed carelessly prepared. The rice was served *dry and cold*, which was really unpleasant. The main courses were only *lukewarm* and looked as if they had been reheated – not a fresh, appealing impression. For the price, I would have expected more, especially in terms of quality and presentation. The only bright spot: The *kimchi* was really delicious – fresh, spicy, and exactly as it should be. This shows that the restaurant has potential if more care was taken in preparing the food. It's a shame, but I can't recommend a visit at this time. Perhaps it was a slip-up – I hope the kitchen is working on improving it.

There were two of us there, and we both ordered the same thing: vegetarian ramen with egg and deep-fried dumplings. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing—the ramen tasted strongly of instant noodles, and the dumplings seemed more like convenience store produce. Even more disappointing: Shortly after our visit, we both started experiencing gastrointestinal problems. What a pity.

We always go to Mandu regularly because the food is always freshly prepared and tastes great. There is also a super lovely staff 😊.

I visited the Korean restaurant Mandu and was completely impressed. From a culinary point of view, it was a real highlight: I ordered a spicy curry with rice and spicy marinated meat - both excellently seasoned, freshly prepared and very authentic in taste. I was particularly impressed by the balance between spiciness and flavors. The service was also impeccable: the staff was attentive, friendly and accommodating. You felt welcome from the first moment. The atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant and inviting - ideal for a relaxed meal. Mandu is definitely a recommendation for anyone who wants to experience Korean cuisine at a high level. I'd love to come back! Unfortunately I don't think the price is that good. 25 € is a bit expensive but still bearable because it tastes very tasty

I think it tastes really tasty and there is also a good selection of vegetarian dishes. I particularly like KIMCHIZZIGE, very tasty if you like kimchi. And you can discover many new dishes. Very friendly staff.

When visiting Korean restaurants, I often enjoy ordering Bibimbap, so I decided to order it here as well. Observing other customers, I noticed many were ordering Yangnyeom Chicken (Korean spicy fried chicken), so I was prompted to order it additionally, and the taste was quite good. Regarding the Bibimbap, the vegetables were notably fresh, providing a good texture with each bite. The overall flavor composition felt well-balanced. The accompanying Gochujang (chili paste) had a slightly sweet profile. While this might be a slight point of note for those who prefer intense spiciness, the overall balance of the dish remained good. If you are looking for delicious Korean food in Stuttgart, visiting this place could be a good option to consider.

As a Korean, looking for solid Korean food in Germany is a big challenge. However out of all of the Korean places that I’ve tried in Germany, this place is by far the best, using recipes that don’t deviate too much from the original taste and a small but great menu, providing great food consistently. Thank god this place exists

I have now been to a wide variety of Korean restaurants in Germany and also in other European countries. But for me the Mandu is by far the best. My family and I have now tried almost the entire menu and are still enthusiastic, as are many acquaintances and friends who now often go to Mandu. It's not for nothing that it's almost full all the time. From our experience, there is nothing to complain about either the food, the service or the friendliness. It doesn't matter whether you eat on site or whether you have ordered it to be picked up. My personal favorites are Dak Galbi, Japchae, Kunmandu and Kimchi Jeoon. Not to mention the homemade kimchi is outstanding. I unreservedly recommend it.

I don't understand these good reviews here at all! The two of us ate there. Not worth the hype at all! We were lucky when we arrived (4pm) there was no line. So we were asked in straight away. Then a huge queue forms right outside. You think it's very popular, However, we quickly realized why there was always a long line outside. 50 minutes after ordering, the food finally arrived. - Rice with “beef” if you can even call it that - vegetarian soup - fried “spicy” chicken pieces Rice: dry, sometimes hard and lukewarm Beef: just fat, chewy, no taste and inedible Soup: Worse than a ready-made soup for 90 cents at the Asian market. The noodles are not cooked through, some are still hard and the taste is pure flavor enhancer Fried chicken: These were supposed to be spicy... but they were sweet and I thought they were already fried and just thawed! Drinks 0.2 cans for €2.50 is a cheek but still bearable The portions are really small Rice with beef €15.50 For a vegetarian “ready” soup 10€!!! Anyone who sees this food as tasty and high quality has never eaten anything really fresh! The service is = 0 There were 2 tables next to us who were also there for the first time Nobody was explained how to order or whether they would be served, let alone a QR code or a card on the tables. Only at the entrance door and at the checkout. Another minus point - Payment is made immediately after ordering, so you are forced to wait forever for your food, which you then have to fetch yourself. Since it wasn't enough, we felt really sick with a swollen stomach after the meal (we only ate a quarter of it), which is another sign of the incredibly poor quality. We definitely do not recommend this restaurant/snack bar. Better get the frozen ramen soup at Kaufland for €3.99. Don't get any stomach problems, saves money and tastes much better!

After 6 years in Stuttgart, I finally made it here. The kitchen closes at 7:30 p.m. We were there twice at 7:25 p.m. but couldn't order anything else. The third time it worked. Sat at the high tables. Even for tall people, the relationship between chair and table is not right. As a small person, I almost couldn't see my food and it was really uncomfortable. Ate fried chicken, kimchi and mandu and unfortunately I've never had a worse experience of all three dishes. We waited 20 minutes for fryer food. Chicken was totally over-seasoned and consisted of a lot of tough breading and very little meat. As if it had been sitting on display all day. I'm assuming it's purchased. Drinks are in 0.2 format, which I find to be a rip-off. At least the employees are nice.

Get there early in the evening, there is usually a small queue in front of the shop. You order and pay for food directly at the counter and then pick it up with a buzzer. Eating is a celebration! Had soup, rice, chicken and dumplings. Not a grain of rice remained. So delicious. :3

The food is amazing here and definitely worth checking out. The person working there is also such a kind and hospitable person. Definitely one of my favourites in the city and that I got back too all the time.

The Mandu is located on Berliner Platz in Stuttgart and is small but nice. Self-reliance applies here, which I find very pleasant because otherwise people would still be jumping back and forth between the tables in the already small restaurant. This is the second time I've eaten here and I'm very impressed with all the dishes I got here. These included mandus (dumplings) with kimchi and meat, kimchi pancakes, tteok-bokki, dakgangjung (fried chicken thighs), kimchi, and dakalbi. Compared to the food in Korea, it almost tastes like you're actually eating in Korea. It is freshly prepared and tastes simply fantastic! The staff is very friendly, accommodating and there is a pleasant atmosphere. I would recommend everyone to try the restaurant to get a taste of Korean cuisine. I'll definitely be back!

I was very disappointed with my visit here. After waiting in line for a long time, I had high expectations, which unfortunately were not met. The food tasted absolutely nothing authentically Korean to me. I have tried Mandu in other cities such as Düsseldorf and Bonn, and Bonn in particular offers heavenly, traditional cuisine prepared with heart. In comparison, I really can't recommend Mandu in Stuttgart to anyone looking for traditional Korean food. A big negative was that there wasn't even kimbap on the menu when I was there. Maybe it's back now, but my experience back then was very disappointing. For the price it's just not worth it if you're expecting real Korean food. I want to emphasize: the food wasn't bad! It was tasty and the customer service was very nice, and the location was also cute. But I go out for Korean food because I want authentic Korean food, and that's exactly what I was missing here. As someone who knows what authentic Korean food tastes like and has experience with it, I felt it just wasn't authentic enough. If I want food that isn't authentically Korean, I might as well make it myself. But when I go to a Korean restaurant, I expect a real Korean taste experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't fulfilled here and that's why I can't recommend it.🙁🧡

I was here again recently. 4 years ago I always ate the same thing and this time I tried something new. The friends we were there with also ordered something that I had never tried before and was able to try it out. Everything was super fresh and so delicious. If you like spicy, you won't miss out here. We had: - TTEOK-BOKKI -KUNMANDU - CHAB-CHAE - KIMCHIZZIGE -RAMYUN - BIBIMBAB My favorite was the Chab-Chae noodles!!! They really are awesome. Mandu has a beeper system. You find the menu online, order at the counter and then get a beep. Once the food is ready (and it beeps) you pick up the food at the counter. I only gave the ambience 4 stars because there is little space and it is often full due to social media. We had to wait outside for 15 minutes, which wasn't a problem as we weren't stressed about time. However, the service staff tried to make everything possible for us and quickly organize a place for us!

Great cuisine fresh cozy place.

This is a restaurant I would have eaten at even if I were in Korea! Especially the chicken gangjeong was crispy and delicious. I visited it during my travels, and the taste reminds me of it even after coming back to Korea. It's friendly and seems to be popular with locals.
