The burgers were great, but unfortunately, the service was terrible. Drinks weren't served for 20 minutes, we had to wait at least half an hour for dessert, and when we asked for the bill, nothing happened. If four of the five employees weren't standing around at the counter on a Friday night when the place was packed, my rating would be much higher. 💀

The service was excellent. The medium burger is definitely worth the price, as it has the best bread-to-patty ratio. Unfortunately, I missed the note on the menu, and as a result, the small burger had a bit too much bread for just one patty.

The best burgers in Aachen – and much more! We've been coming here regularly for a while now – because you simply can't get smash burgers this good at home. The burgers are a true taste experience: perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The spare ribs are also an absolute highlight – tender, seasoned, and by far the best I've ever eaten. You can simply taste the passion they put into their cooking. The entire team brings heart and dedication to the plate – and the service is just as warm. Thanks to my partner, we're lucky enough to be sitting in a very special place: under the "Wall of Heroes." Those who master the culinary challenge will be given a place of honor – with a guaranteed table! For us, this place is more than just a restaurant – it has become an integral part of our culinary experiences. Highly recommended!

The food was really good but I found it really expensive even though I took the cheapiest one. The extras are what makes the bill to high. Still a good burger but you should go here knowing the real price. 20€ for what's in the picture is just too much ans the place does not justify for it.

I come from Hamburg and was visiting Aachen and all in all I have to say it was a great experience we had there. Both the burgers, the fries and even the colslaw were really great and the price was quite reasonable. I've already paid a lot more money for less. Furthermore, the service was brilliant - the boss serves himself and is open to one or two conversations. We will definitely eat there again on my next visit. I absolutely recommend it!

Good place to have dinner. The staff was friendly, food took about 15 minutes to be served and was tasty! The cutlery was actually very good to cut through everything. I plan to return. Ps: loved the arcade machine being there for the customers.

The food is as phenomenal. I had the ribs with Belgium fries and Oklahoma sauce. And I drank the pink raspberry tea. The tea was refreshing and delicious. The ribs were the best I’ve had outside my own kitchen. I didn’t care for the Oklahoma sauce but it didn’t matter because the food and atmosphere made up for it.

Highly recommend this restaurant! We stopped by here for dinner as a stop on our roadtrip and it did not disappoint. The burgers were delicious, ribs were amazing and the iced tea (both peach and raspberry) were phenomenal. All of the staff were incredible and even helped to accommodate us with our baby/stroller. If you’re looking for delicious food, look no further because this is your place!

Nice place in city center. Friendly staff. They have so many varieties of vegetarian burgers, cocktails and mocktails. One of the best veggie burger I ever had. Everthing on the menu was value for money.

We have been here several times now and have been completely satisfied every time. There is usually space for larger groups in the back and the service is also very flexible when it comes to moving tables or making room for a stroller. Kids (4 to 10) love the ball bath, retro gaming in front of the toilets and the great mini burgers. Vegan or not: all burgers are a hit. As a vegan, Smashup is my favorite burger dealer, not only in Aachen: a lot of selection (burgers, sides, sauces), super tasty (spicy also means really hot 😉), its own menu and also very friendly and helpful 🫶

We were there yesterday for the second time in a few days because there are gluten-free burgers, everything is homemade and tastes really delicious, the boss took the time for us and responded to our dietary requirements (vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free), we felt we were in good hands, the next time we visit Aachen we want to try the gluten-free lava cake

Overall, a solid visit to Smash Up at the Cathedral. The service was okay, but unfortunately there were a few mix-ups with the dishes ⚠️. The food was good, but for me it wasn't quite worth all the hype 🍔. Prices are okay 💸. What's really convincing is the large selection of vegan options - that's where the store really scores points 🌱! Unfortunately, the atmosphere is a bit uncomfortable and sometimes seems a bit worn out 🪑. Nevertheless: If you're interested in creative burger combinations, especially vegan ones, you should give it a try.

There are gluten-free burgers and they are super delicious! The staff is specially trained and knows about celiac disease. There is even a second deep fryer that only uses gluten-free dishes.

Overpriced!!! Food was burnt and there was a small piece of mold in the sauce. Disgusting and unacceptable!!! We also had to wait far too long even though there was nothing going on and the staff was rude. We definitely won't come a second time.

Regional products, everything homemade, delicious beer and great service. 1 serving of sweet potato fries with a burger each is enough for two people. The truffle mayo is mega! The burgers are definitely delicious and it's great how big the vegan menu is! But you should at least order the regular burger, which I probably got enough of in the menu, but my friend didn't have enough (and that makes it expensive, but okay for treating yourself). What would be great would be more spicy options (two people found the one with three chilies to be rather spicy) and/or a burger with a little more salad/vegetables as a fresh option. But basically a nice shop :)

The blonde lady who served me was very nice and gave me a good recommendation straight away. The meat was nicely mashed but a bit too dry on the inside for me personally. The portion is reasonable. Price was still ok

The boys are a great team, everyone is very nice, personable, and they do a good job. Not only are they the best neighbors, but they also have the best burger around... after maybe 50 burgers and many burger salads, I still haven't had enough. Craziness! The burgers with fresh vegetables, special sauces, fresh organic meat and very good fries on the side are almost a new definition of burger. Excuse the pun, but it was a smashing burger and service. It might be the best burger that I've ever eaten, and definitely the best smashed one. The portions were big, the service was really good and their house sauce is incredible. If you're craving a burger in Aachen, this is definitely the place to go.

Super tasty food! We were really hungry and made the mistake of ordering both the cheezy extreme and the cac and cheese—not a smart move. Both were delicious, but the sheer amount of cheese left us physically incapable of finishing everything. So, beware when ordering—portions are serious! The wait time for the food to arrive was over 20 minutes, which felt a bit long. It would be helpful if they let customers know the estimated wait time upfront. On the plus side, the free nacho starter was a nice touch—it definitely helped keep the hunger in check while we waited!

Very nice experience, more of a restaurant that stays in your memory. Unusual and modern furnishings. Not monotonous to the eye, there are lots of funny details to catch the eye. Food was good, and lots of it too. Good value for money. A bit of salt was missing from the food for me. Sweet potato fries very tasty. Burger patty not greasy and made from high quality meat. You could also grab the burger easily. And the service was also really warm and kind. Really nice guy. He had a bit of an American look to him because he spoke to us so openly and informally. I can really recommend it 👍

We were there today on February 2nd, 2025 after going to the cinema and feeling very hungry. What can you say, it was a culinary journey into the world of smash burgers, which was my first of this kind. As soon as you walk in you can tell it's going to be a cool number. The facility is great, the staff is extremely friendly. Young but very attentive employees. We were completely happy and will come back. This restaurant is an asset to the Cathedral Quarter and I hope you continue to make people happy with your food.

Beforehand there were chips & dips on the house, overall the portions were big enough that I couldn't finish everything. I'm usually wary of burgers in Germany. Most burger places here either want to do too much, like put unnecessary spices into the meat, or their patties are dense and taste like gummy (looking at you, Hans im Glück and Peter Pane) or a combination of both. I ordered from this place on Uber eats and was blown away. The burger was phenomenal, with a perfect smashed patty, delicious brioche buns and excellent toppings (I had the "Winter Wonderland")! Not only that though, but the Mac and Cheese were also the best I've had in Germany. Just perfect! The Cole slaw was good, though it could have used a little more salt for my taste, but that's just me. Overall I can't wait to try the restaurant in person one of these days. Makes me glad I've moved to Aachen! I would recommend these burgers to anyone!

I went to eat alone and was immediately greeted in a friendly manner. The atmosphere is great, something completely different. I was asked if I knew the concept and was immediately informed about everything about the sizes of the burgers, sauces, etc. 💪🏽Burger tastes top notch 💪🏽French fries crispy and hot My Coke Zero had too little carbonation, I complained about that and got a new one straight away 👌😊 Men's toilets are also clean.

Very good burger - the second visit was also convincing - these are served here as smashed burgers - this means that a fresh minced meat ball (not frozen) from the organic butcher from the Ardennes is pressed very flat on the grill, making it very thin, juicy and full of roasted aromas is - which settles the question of the degree of doneness 😉 (which was criticized by some here - and the price-performance ratio is also explained by the quality delivered) again and again and again and again

A great burger joint, friendly staff, cozy atmosphere. Super awesome burgers, especially the truffle burger and the chillichrese. Unfortunately, I can strongly advise against the burning cheese topping, as this pseudo cheese (deliberately called that because it has nothing to do with cheese other than the color) tastes liquidy and unpleasant when cold and the liquid fuel that comes on it and is lit is sweet and bitter Vanilla tastes good, so the Burgen has a VERY unpleasant taste. As I said, otherwise the store is a hit 🎯👍💪

We came here based on good reviews. I had never had a smash burger before. But I'm quite surprised! The quality of the meat and the portion size are great! A bit on the more expensive side in my opinion. But definitely recommended. You get nachos with a cheese sauce beforehand, which is a nice addition! I understand that people often rely on drinks. But such a fresh mint tea was very pricey!

Nice new burger shop, the patties are very tasty but very thin. It would be helpful if you said how much meat you get per patty. The crushed bread isn't really my thing, but it's a matter of taste. I thought the onion rings were great. I also liked the beer selection. I have to say I'm not a big eater, but given the quantity I would take 2 patties next time. The coleslaw didn't look appealing but it was tasty. The stairs to the toilet are adventurous and I couldn't get down without using the handles as the steps vary greatly in height. I wonder who took something like that, something like that is very dangerous. The atmosphere is something new with nice ideas.

If you really want a delicious smash burger, you've come to the right place. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. The service was great, extremely friendly and accommodating. Everything about the burger was perfect from start to finish. The burger bun was fluffy and the meat was well seasoned and extremely tasty. The onion rings were crispy and the fries had crunch. The burger was OK, but nothing more. At a price of €19 for the cheapest option, it is far too expensive, unfortunately you are forced to choose a side dish. And then the food isn't even really warm. A typical case of a “hyped” restaurant that is absolutely not worth it. In many pubs you can get much better burgers of the same size for half the price. Not recommended!

I want my money back!! 25€ for a cold citizen (made from 100% German beef), cold fries and spray cheese sauce. Right from the start we were told how proud this shop is of its food quality, but this is absolutely incomprehensible.

Restaurant where the owner welcomes you in French if you are French speaking. The pink theme is omnipresent and at least we stay within the proposed theme. The welcome is very correct. The hamburgers taste good for sure, the bread is very good, but I found them much too greasy, too much sauce dripping everywhere, too difficult for me to digest. The price is slightly too expensive, especially since the accompaniments are all extra. A gluten-free option is also offered, which is nice. In short, a unique, well-respected setting, but not for sensitive stomachs.

We were with you this week. Interesting ambience, you have to like pink. Unfortunately, the great burger is not well captured in the light either, see below. The burger is also rightly great, the regular one is not cheap, but the bun and patty combination, the toppings and the sauce, are a dream. In grades: 2+ The Belgian fries were more of a 3+, no longer really warm and no longer crispy, rather hard. It's a shame. You won't find sauces on the menu at the table and there won't be any special offers either. Kind regards, we'll be back again :)

Very tasty burgers, the onion rings were also good. I don't like the pink interior so much, but that's a matter of taste and doesn't distract from the burgers, which are the main thing. We would probably have drunk more if we had been asked if we wanted more. Just as a tip. 😉

It was our first time there and we were really looking forward to some good burgers. The meat was so thin that it completely fell apart and was burned in some places. A lot of sauce was put on it so that you couldn't taste the dry meat. The onions and tomatoes were good, but that's not what you eat a burger for. In addition, the service was quite unfriendly and didn't make you feel welcome. All of this for the price is a disgrace. A little tip: instead of becoming insulting with negative comments, it's better to get some training.
