The restaurant is cozy, the staff are very knowledgeable about the dishes and can offer recommendations, the sauces are homemade, and the menu has something for everyone (including vegetarian options). My personal highlight is that they offer gluten-free burgers (suitable for people with celiac disease) and beer. They even double-checked whether it was due to celiac disease or simply a preference, so they are careful to avoid cross-contamination. The location near the cathedral, with large windows overlooking the pedestrian zone, was also very nice.

We went into the shop and were immediately greeted warmly by the staff. The shop was very cozy and nicely decorated, and not too crowded. I ordered a gluten-free burger, which was absolutely delicious. The server was very knowledgeable about celiac disease and food intolerances and told us a lot about it in a friendly conversation. The effort put into making the buns so perfect was definitely worth it: you could hardly taste the difference from gluten-containing buns, they were super fluffy and definitely the best in the area. I'll gladly come back.

They accidentally put real meat on my vegan smash burger; it tastes like meat, smells like meat, and looks like meat. And well, I've been vegetarian for nine years, so it's really hard to stomach.

Times are changing: for once, for the better! The prices are now very fair compared to the competition. Plus, the ingredients are top-notch. The meat is nice and crispy and juicy. I'll probably order burgers here in the future. The fries are awesome! The burger is delicious. However, I do have a few criticisms in this price range: The meat is too dry. The quality is high, you can taste that, but it was dry. Perhaps a little more fat in the meat would counteract this. I also couldn't taste the roasted flavors that come with the smashed burgers from the USA. Other burgers have significantly more of that, even without being "smashed," without being bitter (this burger wasn't bitter at all!). Apart from the sauce and the pickles, there doesn't seem to be any other topping. A fresh lettuce leaf would have been nice. Here, the patty weighs about 110g (according to the owner), and for the price of 10 euros, I think that's too little. I don't like that you can't order any sides. 14 euros for a double burger and I wasn't full. For comparison: I can get a 200g Angus beef burger with a side and fresh salad for just 1 euro more (in Aachen). The burger there was much juicier, and the meat flavor was even more intense. The personal impressions described here may be skewed due to delivery. I don't know what it tastes like in the restaurant. The sauce was also very tasty, as were the other toppings. Unfortunately, the burgers are too small for this price. However, I'd like to try the new burgers that are supposed to be released soon and hope they've worked on the sensory aspects. A good approach with potential for improvement. It would have been 4 stars if the price weren't so high. All of this criticism should be considered in relation to the price level!

Yes, the burger was delivered. Things can get a bit bumpy during delivery. A small skewer in the middle of the burger could have prevented it from falling apart like that. However, what's really unacceptable are the canned mushrooms. I've never seen that on a burger before, and it was incredibly unappetizing. There was way too much meat in relation to the bun, and it covered far too much of the surface area. For that price, you expect a decent burger. This was just thrown together.

Discovered by chance, it was the first suggestion on Google Maps (I was 17 meters away). From the outside, I don't think I would have even looked at the menu. A fast-food place in kawaii pink—I admit, it doesn't exactly catch my eye. But I trusted the suggestion and the rating, and I wasn't disappointed. The snack bar has three small rooms. You have to wait to be seated, but it's not long with the two bees working so hard. The information sign indicates that it's best to be able to take your time because the philosophy of the place is to serve the food properly, not in a fast-food style. That's clear enough. Once seated, I found the decor nice, contrary to my first impression. It's sophisticated and neither garish nor aggressive; I ate peacefully. The menu is in German (what a surprise 🤣) but a QR code on the table provides a translated version. I had a very good meal; it was delicious and plentiful. My lemonade was the best I've ever had—in short, excellent. I can't comment on the prices, as I'd never eaten in Germany before, but I didn't find the bill excessive. I might have ordered just one portion of fries for the table, but I wasn't sure if it would be enough... The staff is attentive without being intrusive, the service is quick, and my English is more than sufficient for them to understand. In short, I'll definitely keep this place in mind for my next visit.

One of the best burgers in Aachen. Personally, the "Smashup Dirty" is by far my favorite burger of all times. Staff super super friendly. They let my dog sit with us and are super kind with her. Can't wait to come back. Best fries in Aachen!!! The restaurant atmosphere is also super cool and the more you look the more you enjoy it.

It's absolutely bizarre that this place has so many stars. The food ranges from okay to bad; I definitely wouldn't recommend it. The service isn't very friendly either, and the owner seemed very strange to me.

We went there this afternoon for burgers. It wasn't busy, and the drinks and food came quickly, which was great. The service was very friendly and gratefully accepted our review after the meal (coming soon). Unfortunately, the burgers (Summerlove, MF) didn't blow us away; overall, they were a bit dry, despite the sauce. Our meat wasn't juicy; the buns, while huge and tasty, had too much bread compared to the toppings; the habanero sauce lacked a fruity touch. On the other hand, we found the Joppie sauce with the fries very tasty. Overall, good, but not a highlight for us today.

I was drawn to the shop by the already extensive vegan offerings. The food was excellent, but unfortunately, the portions were very small for the rather high price. The service was friendly and helpful. The shop itself is very nicely decorated, but the logo and designs of the merchandise shirts available for purchase were created using AI. I think you should think twice about supporting a real artist. I won't go there again because the portions are too small, but it was still worth a visit 👍

We visited Smashup Aachen for the first time today, and we were thrilled. The selection of dishes is top-notch, and the flavors are truly delicious. You can tell the meat comes from the Belgian Eifel region! The excellent service was also particularly noteworthy. We received super-friendly service and excellent advice. We'll definitely be back! Card payments are no problem, as they're a must :-)

I have to say, unfortunately, that this was the worst burger I've ever eaten. The meat was gristly throughout, and I had to constantly reach for the cloth. My boyfriend, who isn't picky at all, also thought it was very bad. Considering that the burger costs €20 without a side dish, you really expect something a bit different. The tables were very close together. The service, however, was very friendly. Unfortunately, I won't be going back :/

We chose this burger place based on the good reviews. Let's start with the good. Service was friendly and fast. Fries and sauce were good. Now, unfortunately, for the negative part. The meat on my burger was extremely gristly and had a very unpleasant smell and taste. By the time I took my last bite, I had almost nothing but gristle in my mouth and had to spit it out. The taste and smell stayed in my mouth and on my hands for hours. For just under €20, unfortunately, it was a real disappointment. Even after I pointed out the poor quality, I still had to pay the full price. Sorry, but that wasn't good.

We were served in the evening by a waiter who spoke French! That might save some lives, haha. Really fast and pleasant service! The food is very good and we got our fill and money's worth.

I was there shortly before Christmas 2024 and completed one of the challenges. I recently returned to try the other burgers. It was delicious, and even though the server was alone that day, everything was perfect!

Ordered a Smashup! Summerlove and a Smashup! Classic. First time we tasted a Smash burger.. They were both delicious and not the last time we can think of eating it again. We shared fries with cheese and bacon. Good size portions and we couldn't finish them. Fast, friendly and sweet service, and the food came quickly. Can definitely recommend this place..

We were happy to find a place with very good reviews. We've been part of this "new" Smashburger hype a lot over the past few weeks and months and have tried many variations in many cities. Incidentally, we had the best burger in Mannheim. About the experience here at the restaurant: The location is very nice and quiet, and the ambiance when we walked in was very appealing. The service was very friendly and took our order quickly. The drinks came quickly, and surprisingly, all the burgers arrived extremely quickly as well. Everything looked great, the portions were large, and everything was good. I tried a fries with the sauce first, and I thought it was delicious. Then came the first bite of the burger (weird, I thought), I'll keep trying. The taste of the sauce and the topping on the burger was quite good. But I'm sorry, the burger was unfortunately very dry and gristly. It's a real shame, unfortunately, everyone in our group had exactly the same experience. I don't know if it was just a slip-up for us, but it wasn't what we're used to. It's a shame, because in my opinion the store actually has potential.

I was in Aachen for three days on business and happened to have a burger and fries here on the first evening. It was incredibly delicious. After a brief conversation with the manager, I got the impression that they had really put some thought into their product. It was so good that I came back the next two evenings. You should know the difference between smash and regular burgers, but if you like smash, you won't be disappointed! The fries were also great – super flavorful and nicely crunchy. The coleslaw was also perfectly seasoned, a nice little side dish. I can only hope that everything will be the same on my next visit to Aachen. Good luck to you and keep up the good work!

Unfortunately, customer feedback doesn't seem to play a role here. We ordered mini burgers, which, while visually appealing, didn't taste as good as the full-sized burgers: the patties were dry, the "special" versions were barely distinguishable, and the chicken burger was, unfortunately, just nuggets in a bun. For over €150, delicious fries and sauces are only a small consolation. It's a shame that no response was received to my detailed feedback. I wouldn't recommend the mini burgers – the full-sized burgers, on the other hand, are absolutely top-notch!

Don't let the above average price tag for a burger joint dissuade you. The food was definitely worth it. We especiallied enyoed their costumn made drinks. Service was impeccable.

We'd love to come back! The shop is beautifully decorated, the food is incredibly good, and the portions are very generous. I love the iced tea! The staff is also incredibly friendly. They even allow you to leave out certain ingredients if you have food intolerances, and we've never had a mistake. We always enjoy coming here!

Absolutely love this place. As a celiac this is the only place in Aachen where i can get glutenfree burgers and the staff are all very well trained and knowledgeable about celiac disease which always makes me at ease. The glutenfree bun is very good, not dry at all and all the different burgers i’ve tried so far have been scrumptious. Definitely recommend! My only minus is the AI generated decorations. I’m not a big fan.. Totally love the pink look though!

I went there because I saw several people mentioning it on Instagram. It's a really nice atmosphere, the owner is friendly, and the food and drinks are great. They even have little photo spots so you can create your own memories. I personally highly recommend it!

Very good burgers, the portion of chili cheesy fries was also tasty, but too small. The side salad is a bit of a joke for the price - other burger restaurants serve this amount as a garnish on their plates or even on the burger! A rude waiter who, instead of explaining the burgers and fries, only made superfluous comments, rounded off the picture - I'm probably too old and not part of the target audience here. A shame, really. Tables very close together.

The burgers and the burger menu are legendary; the burgers are meticulously thought out down to the smallest detail and taste phenomenal. Cool spot with delicious burgers. Service was a bit slow for the prices charged. Fries were fine, Onion rings too but the standout are definitely the burgers. The hot M… one was definitely very hot. The other one also held up and the bacon sauce was great. Super rich but that’s to be expected if you order a burger with bacon and cheese sauce on top I guess. I’d recommend to get one side and just burgers. The homemade raspberry iced tea wasn’t exciting. The lemon one was nice although nothing special either. This place could benefit from hammering down on the homemade ingredients and aspects and make it even more artisanal. This would also help justify the definitely high prices.

Unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment. We waited over 1.5 hours for our food, and even then, it wasn't worth the wait. The truffle burger consisted practically only of mayonnaise, and the cheese was completely missing, even though it was clearly stated on the menu. The patty was disappointing in flavor, and the meat simply tasted like fried minced meat, lacking any refinement or seasoning. The drinks menu was also disappointing: no wine, no Aperol, no Hugo, just cocktails, beer, and soft drinks, for which we then had to wait 30 minutes. The guests at the next table left early because it took too long, which, in retrospect, is understandable. The service was inattentive; there was no information or apology for the wait. Overall, a lack of coherent concept, poor food, and poor organization. For us: once and never again.

Okay, burgers were quite dry, fries were good. Low drink sales due to a lack of demand from the wait staff. The welcome was nice, but the friendliness seemed to have run out when it came to leaving and paying. Maybe it was just a bad day there.

The burgers were great, but unfortunately, the service was terrible. Drinks weren't served for 20 minutes, we had to wait at least half an hour for dessert, and when we asked for the bill, nothing happened. If four of the five employees weren't standing around at the counter on a Friday night when the place was packed, my rating would be much higher. 💀

Thanks to my partner, we're lucky enough to be sitting in a very special place: under the "Wall of Heroes." Those who master the culinary challenge will be given a place of honor – with a guaranteed table! For us, this place is more than just a restaurant – it has become an integral part of our culinary experiences. Highly recommended!

The food was really good but I found it really expensive even though I took the cheapiest one. The extras are what makes the bill to high. Still a good burger but you should go here knowing the real price. 20€ for what's in the picture is just too much ans the place does not justify for it.

I come from Hamburg and was visiting Aachen and all in all I have to say it was a great experience we had there. Both the burgers, the fries and even the colslaw were really great and the price was quite reasonable. I've already paid a lot more money for less. Furthermore, the service was brilliant - the boss serves himself and is open to one or two conversations. We will definitely eat there again on my next visit. I absolutely recommend it!

Highly recommend this restaurant! We stopped by here for dinner as a stop on our roadtrip and it did not disappoint. The burgers were delicious, ribs were amazing and the iced tea (both peach and raspberry) were phenomenal. All of the staff were incredible and even helped to accommodate us with our baby/stroller. The food is as phenomenal. I had the ribs with Belgium fries and Oklahoma sauce. And I drank the pink raspberry tea. The tea was refreshing and delicious. The ribs were the best I’ve had outside my own kitchen. I didn’t care for the Oklahoma sauce but it didn’t matter because the food and atmosphere made up for it.

We have been here several times now and have been completely satisfied every time. There is usually space for larger groups in the back and the service is also very flexible when it comes to moving tables or making room for a stroller. Kids (4 to 10) love the ball bath, retro gaming in front of the toilets and the great mini burgers. Vegan or not: all burgers are a hit. As a vegan, Smashup is my favorite burger dealer, not only in Aachen: a lot of selection (burgers, sides, sauces), super tasty (spicy also means really hot 😉), its own menu and also very friendly and helpful 🫶
