Generally speaking, everything was tidy. But you couldn't look too closely, and you'd still notice a few little things, like worn corners on the furniture and the wall by the bathtub, which unfortunately also had sharp edges, a crooked wall by the toilet, limescale deposits on the faucets and the glass panel by the bathtub, and dust on the upstairs decor in the room. It's actually quite practical if you can lie in the tub and watch TV, but not if the glass isn't completely clean. The glass bathroom isn't really suitable for couples who need privacy in the bathroom. It didn't bother us, but some couples might find this information helpful. Unfortunately, there's no service on the roof terrace. Until 9 p.m., you can have drinks brought up from the bar downstairs. After that, you have to get them yourself and go back upstairs. The staff was friendly, the drinks selection was unusual but okay. The breakfast was very good. A wide selection, and the taste was nothing to complain about. The price is quite reasonable. The surrounding area is, of course, the city center, densely built-up, of course. Overall, a good stay. But there are better hotels in the same category. My recommendation to the hotel would be to pay a little more attention to the maintenance of the rooms and repair any signs of wear and tear that become so obvious.

Too focused on high tech design and less on functionality. Dangerously slippery bathtub (part of the shower arrangements)!!! Lighting system needs a manual to find (specially in the bathroom) and operate. Would try another hotel next time

We celebrated birthday with my husband here. It was really good decision to celebrate it in SIDE hotel. Service is 10/10, so comfy bed, quiet, clean. Spa is quite small but nice 😊

Nice hotel in a good location. The breakfast area is quite small for the number of rooms, however, and therefore often hectic. The staff tried hard and came to our tables regularly, but quickly became overwhelmed due to the high volume. We had to repeat orders several times; sometimes they only arrived after about 30 minutes, and they repeatedly tried to deliver orders to the wrong tables. We noticed that many orders kept going back to the kitchen. Other guests also had similar difficulties, as the allocation of orders was not running smoothly at all. The waiters repeatedly looked around the room, wondering who the order belonged to. It's a real shame, because the selection and quality of the food were truly excellent – ​​without the long waits, we would have had a perfect breakfast experience here.

Great hotel with great services, with cozy design but still warm. positioned few blocks from the Hamburg Messe and downtown allow yiu to move comfortably around the town. Breakfast buffet is enriched with a la carte selections. The personnel at the reception is fast and prepared. The rooms are spacious and clean. Fast elevators can quickly bring you to Spa and pool area. The restaurant in the evening is a bit expensive but quality wise one of the best for meat in the area. Recommended.

We stayed at the Side Hotel in Hamburg for three nights with our child (3 years old) and were very satisfied overall. We booked through Secret Escapes; the package was for two adults, and children under 6 could sleep in their parents' bed for free. We were asked before arrival if we wanted a cot for our little one, which we gratefully accepted. Upon arrival, we were greeted not only by a perfect cot but also by a changing mat, a potty, extra children's towels, and a stuffed animal, which we were extremely pleased with. We had planned for a child in the parents' bed and instead felt like we received the premium children's package. Overall, you get the feeling that children are welcome guests, and everyone really made an effort to make life easier and more enjoyable for parents by even pampering the children a little :) The room was overall very clean, bright, and welcoming. The bathtub was a dream, and we had to chuckle at other guests' criticisms of the glass doors in the bathroom and the faucet on the sink. Would you install something similar at home? No. But that's part of being a design hotel, and for the duration of our stay, it wasn't a problem at all. The staff were consistently super friendly and helpful, from reception to the valet parking to the waiters. The breakfast is truly excellent; nothing is left to be desired. Egg dishes, etc., are all included; the Egg Benedict is a dream. Even when the breakfast room was packed, all orders arrived promptly, and the buffet was always well-stocked and continually replenished. Our only criticism would be that, due to traffic, we unfortunately didn't arrive at the hotel until 7:30 p.m. on our day of arrival. By the time everything was taken care of, it was 9:30 p.m., and when we went to the hotel bar in search of a snack, there was absolutely nothing left to eat. We really don't expect 24-hour room service, but I would certainly like to see at least a sandwich or a prepared cheese platter for late arrivals in a hotel of this category. The wellness area is very nice, not overly large, but large enough for a relaxing swim in the pool. All in all, we'd love to come back next time we're in Hamburg! Thank you for the wonderful stay.

I've known the SIDE Hotel since around 2008 and have stayed there countless times since then. What impresses me, of course, is the unique architecture of the hotel and its rooms – a skillful mix of futuristic design, luxurious materials, and a certain warmth, which, among other things, seems to strike the perfect balance with futurism through lighting accents and partially dark parquet flooring. But: It's not just the design that makes an impression; it's also, and above all, all the wonderful people who work there every day! Because: These people demonstrate with their refined friendliness and cheerfulness that 5-star superior luxury doesn't necessarily have to be synonymous with absolute distance and stuffiness, but that you can, may, and should simply be human and cheerful there too! Thanks to all these characters who make the SIDE Hotel a temporary home for me from the moment I arrive until the moment I depart – whenever I need a break from my busy work life, which begins as soon as the hotel's large entrance door opens for me! The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and stylishly furnished, depending on the category booked. The hotel's own restaurant, "Meatery," offers arguably the best steaks in Hamburg in the evening, and with a casual "Cheers" on your lips, any suitable drink will be brought to you from the adjacent bar. In the morning, you start the day with a rich breakfast buffet and freshly prepared egg dishes. The many fresh fruit juices and even fresh ginger shots are particularly good. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who makes this hotel such a special place in Hamburg – I rarely experience this level of genuine humanity in hotels in this segment, and that's exactly what keeps me coming back!

Nice hotel with a few minor flaws. The room looks nice. However, the bed was very hard and the pillows were all saggy; they need to be replaced. The shower, which is located in the bathtub, is also not entirely modern. Furthermore, the sink, with one tap for hot and one for cold water, is a bit impractical. The location is great and very easy to reach from the train station, and all the staff were always very friendly. The breakfast deserves special mention. The dishes we ordered were particularly good.

I had a very pleasant stay at the Hotel Side in Hamburg. The hotel impresses with modern, bright, and stylishly furnished rooms that were not only visually appealing but also very clean. The location is also ideal: centrally located in Hamburg, many attractions, restaurants, and business centers are within easy reach. Good facilities and well maintained rooms. Lounging in the 8th floor balcony is nice specially in the summer and swimming pool and Sauna area is a plus! I would come back again!

I wholeheartedly recommend the hotel, the friendliness and competence of the staff, the wonderful wellness area with strength training, and the extensive selection of massages. And a very special, and in my opinion very important, recommendation for the "Spaghetti Bolognese" from the night menu, which is part of my ritualistic obligatory routine when I return to my room from the wellness area at 11 p.m. Definitely try it!!

We are now in our favorite hotel for the 5th time. When we checked in we were surprised with a letter from the hotel for our loyalty and were able to enjoy our stay in a higher category. Our children invited us here for Easter breakfast. We were received extremely courteously. Here we noticed that the waiter who looked after us knew something about his job and was happy to do it despite the holiday. It was the same with the other employees who served us. In addition to the extensive selection at the buffet, which actually left nothing to be desired, there was a separate menu from which you could choose other specialties, coffee, juices and even sparkling wine. The food was then freshly prepared and served. Everything has its price, but in this case it's absolutely inexpensive! Thank you for the service and the delicious breakfast (of course thanks also go to our children :-))

Very nice and clean hotel very courteous staff

Excellent for a city vacation. You can have mixed feelings about the meat display in the lobby (it comes from the neighboring steakhouse). The rooms are very nice and pragmatically furnished. The spa area has everything you need. The audience is relaxed. What more could you want? The only complaint is the breakfast for €37 per person; I find it a bit tight.

Great for anyone who wants to spend a nice day in Hamburg. A little problematic for people with disabilities, but the team makes everything possible.

Great hotel for a little break from everyday life.

We're certainly not the typical guests at this hotel, but we really enjoyed it. The rooms were very modern and clean and we had peace and quiet. The breakfast is simply great, you really can't say anything else about it. The staff is consistently friendly and very helpful, something you almost don't know anymore. Yes, the swimming pool is quite small, but we didn't have a problem with too many other guests. Sauna and steam sauna are nice, but also of a manageable size. The location to the Gänsemarkt is great, as is the Dammtor train station. We'd love to come back!

So, unless you're traveling with family, you'll have to accept that everyone can see and hear everything that happens in the bathroom. :D

A high-quality and clean hotel, in a good and quiet area. Excellent staff and customer service. Good and comprehensive breakfast, there is something for everyone. Clean and comfortable rooms. The price of accommodation includes use of saunas, swimming pool and small gym. It is good to note that the saunas are mixed and "textile-free", which may come as a surprise to tourists. You can walk to many destinations from the hotel. I would come again anytime 👍🏻

A fantastic hotel with a puristic, modern design. Absolutely a feast for the eyes! The service was very friendly, and luggage service was available upon request. Your car will be parked for you if you wish, or you can park in the adjacent parking garage. The State Opera is just around the corner, and Neue Wall is a 10-minute walk away. The rooms are stylish and comfortable. The bathroom has frosted glass doors. This is the only drawback: the glass doors don't close properly, and a lockable door would have been great, especially for the separate toilet. I accompanied a friend to surgery, and we spent a night there. In some situations, you like privacy! The breakfast buffet was absolutely magnificent. I've rarely seen such a lavish buffet. Several types of ham and sausage, alongside platters of cold cuts. Plus about 20 types of cheese. A fantastic selection of muesli with dried and fresh fruit. Eggs of all kinds can be ordered at the table. Coffee varieties can be ordered with the order. Bread and rolls in a selection like at a bakery... We had a great stay.

Great location, everything can be easily reached on foot or by subway. The next stop here is Gänsemarkt. Fantastic spa and fitness in the basement. The entire hotel is modern and tastefully furnished. Unfortunately there is no privacy in the toilet due to leaky glass doors. Even the creepy eco-friendly toilet paper doesn't fit into the otherwise very luxurious concept. Great staff! Breakfast is very expensive at €42 per person, but of excellent quality if you really want to eat in the hotel. Our stay here remains special.

Stay at the turn of the year. Thank you for the sweet attention on New Year's Eve. Very good location. Subway station nearby. Many sights within walking distance. We didn't have breakfast. Price felt too expensive. Very attentive and helpful staff around the clock. 10* for this! Wellness area relatively small (compared to the size of the hotel). Clean, tidy, nice to relax. Bar area ok. Seemed a bit uncoordinated at times. It doesn’t matter whether there were many guests there or just three. Rooms are ok. A bit noisy to the hallway. Glass walls and doors in wet areas are unusual. The control and switching of the lighting is a bit unclear and confusing. But everything worked. Very good beds and linens.

Super nice staff, great location, great design!

Booked a SPA treatment as an external Day SPA customer and asked again three days beforehand whether the internal wellness area could also be used. This was of course answered in the affirmative, as was the case at previous appointments. Now two hours before the treatment it is said that the wellness area is closed and is being renovated. Annoying for the good time and my mood is in the basement, it's questionable whether it will be easy to relax afterwards but the worst thing - my mood hits two ladies who have nothing to do with the actual mistake, just because a dumbass in the team made his Doesn't do the job seriously.

Very friendly staff, also super sweet with children and animals. We were there with our three-year-old daughter and our pocket bully. The Pool was absolutely wonderful for our daughter and if we missed something, for example a kettle, we received it immediately. You are also quickly in the center. The breakfast was also great. You get a nice, soft meal freshly made and our daughter absolutely loved the freshly squeezed orange juice. We will definitely come back again

Room was nice, just the shutters opened unprompted during the night, although it was not windy. We found the breakfast to be a little on the pricy side.

We stayed at the hotel for a weekend. There is parking available in the adjacent parking garage for €40/night. Unfortunately, there are no cheaper parking spaces. The service at the mega breakfast buffet was great. Unfortunately, trying to get a little relaxation in the sauna didn't work. There were drunk people who sat in the sauna in boxer shorts without a towel and then jumped straight into the pool without showering. In my opinion, there is a lack of someone from the staff there who asks that rules be followed and provides clean towels. Lying in the bathtub in the room, you could see the electrical installation of the indirect lighting through the reflection in the bathtub. Otherwise everything was great and I was very satisfied 👍

Disappointing experience in a “5 star” hotel from start to finish. The review was written based on a 5-star hotel. Anyone who advertises with the highest standards should be able to implement them: When we arrived at 3:20 p.m., we were told that the room was not yet ready. However, official check-in is at 3 p.m. Just doesn't work in a 5 star hotel. The rooms are shabby, the hairdryer is rusty, the chair is worn out, the ceiling in the entrance area is dirty, etc. The side hotel advertises its wellness area. To name it like that is, in my opinion, an impertinence. Only 3 loungers available. No relaxation room. Unfortunately, neither tea nor small snacks such as nuts, apples, etc. are offered. That's better. We were there for 4 days, the big clock stopped and wasn't changed during that time. Sure, these are small things, but the sum makes it all... However, we had the highlight on the last evening of our stay. Among other things, a family with 4 children actually behaved in an impossible way. Glass bottles in the barefoot area, chips and dirt as well as feces and wet socks (from the toddler) were found on the floor after this family's visit. Another evening, young people jump loudly from the edge of the pool into the water. So far from relaxation. The service employee in the spa area really tried, but couldn't cope with the Raudis. Conclusion: The house thrives on its really great employees in all areas. But that's not enough in my opinion. Breakfast for €32 per person was good. A parking space can be booked for €40 per night. We will no longer visit the hotel due to the deficiencies described.

We were here on business and the location is excellent. The glass doors in the bathroom take some getting used to, they look stylish but have functional disadvantages. Spa area is very nice. Staff are nice too. It's a very nice hotel, we felt very comfortable. But if you set the five star bar very high, there is still room for improvement

The hotel offers a truly unacceptable price-performance ratio. Description see below. To be fair, we went to reception after the first night to point out the conditions. Employee #1 had many explanations for each point, all of which were due to ignorance. Employee number 2 then offered us a room swap. Unfortunately, with only 2 nights and we were on the way out, it was out of the question. When we checked out at 11 a.m., with our suitcases already in hand, we were offered a drink at the bar as compensation...

This hotel is amazing for so many reasons! Perfect for business travel and hosting events. The rooms are huge and very clean. That said, it would be super helpful to know a few things upon arrival such as the importance of scanning the QR code in your room so you know how to turn off the lights without losing power in your room. Protip, the switch in by the bathroom sink.

Great conference with a delicious dinner

The hotel did one right from the start. Very good impression. The location is very central to the Gänsemarkt with subway and various buses. The Planten and Bloomen parks as well as the Jungfernstieg, the town hall and various shopping and restaurant options can also be reached on foot in just a few minutes. If you arrive by car, we recommend booking a parking space. There are hardly any free parking spaces in the area. The reception was very friendly and as a little surprise there was also a very good welcome mulled wine. The hotel follows an interesting design inside and out with very clean lines interspersed with comfort. Our room was very well furnished both visually and practically and the bed was very comfortable. We had one of the cheaper rooms facing the courtyard, I don't know what the more expensive rooms are like, the only thing I personally was missing was a separate shower from the very comfortable bathtub with shower function. The small spa area with a 1.35m deep and approximately 10m long pool, whirlpool, 2 different saunas and a small fitness room with equipment was also very nice. You can also book massages if you wish. In the evening, the hotel restaurant offers an excellent selection of steak dishes and a small bar invites you to linger. There is also a terrace on the eighth floor which wraps halfway around the building, but this was probably closed due to the current season. There is a cozy lounge area inside with couches which also have a small table function and ports for charging a laptop or smartphone. In the morning we were greeted very friendly at breakfast. The buffet wasn't overloaded but nothing was missing either. There is also a small breakfast menu with various drinks and small dishes, which can be prepared upon request and at no extra cost. I really liked the fact that we were immediately asked about our drink request and that the coffee we ordered was brought out shortly after we sat down. We would definitely like to come back. I can also recommend the hotel to friends and relatives with a clear conscience. Note to the hotel: It would be good to make the toilet doors completely lockable. It would also be possible to turn off the bathroom light like all the other lights outside the bathroom and in the evening there might be an extra function so that the light in the bathroom is not so bright so as not to wake up the room partner. Since the wall to the bathroom is made entirely of glass and therefore the entire room is illuminated.

Nice hotel with a great location. The spa area downstairs was good, the water was warm. Personally, I would have liked it to be a little more clean. There was a lot of hair on the floor. The rooms (deluxe) are a good size, bathrooms also good. Lots of mirrors and large shower. Unfortunately, toilet paper is just like back in school. The 2 glass doors to the bathroom and the toilet were rather unpleasant. In the morning we were awake from 6 a.m. because you could hear the water in the pipes from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. View directly of the neighboring house. The staff is very nice and the breakfast was also great. I've definitely had much better 5 star hotels. This was comparable to 4 star hotels in our opinion. Kindly meant 4 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

The hotel is well located. The room itself is fine, unfortunately the bathroom was made entirely of glass and the doors couldn't close properly. At night the bathroom might illuminate the entire room. There was also a view of a parking garage. The spa area was nice, but the steam sauna didn't get really warm. Overall, we expected a little more.

Good location nearby downtown, very friendly staff, stylish interior

170 euros for a room and then it's so noisy that you can hear everything in the hallway and footsteps in the room above you. There's also recycled toilet paper, which you can use to wipe your face sore, but a toilet flush that fires through half the Elbe and can't be stopped. Not entirely ecologically sensible. Our stay at SIDE Design Hotel Hamburg was, hands down, one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I’ve seen bad service, but this hotel takes it to a whole new level. **The Room Situation:** Upon arrival, we were given the wrong room—two separate single beds, even though we specifically booked a room with a double bed. When we brought this to the attention of the reception, instead of a simple apology and quick resolution, we were met with an attitude that screamed, “We don’t care.” They initially lied and claimed no other rooms were available. Then they blamed the company that booked the room for us, saying it was okay with separate beds. (News flash: It wasn't, and we confirmed that). After 45 minutes of standing there, waiting like fools, they finally gave us a new room. By that point, the charm of the “5-star” hotel had already faded. **The Breakfast Catastrophe:** Breakfast was a disaster. The entire restaurant smelled like someone thought it would be a great idea to combine bleach with seafood. The variety of food was okay, but we were so nauseated by the smell that we couldn’t enjoy it. When we brought this to the manager’s attention, she responded with an attitude that can only be described as, “So what?” The level of professionalism here is seriously lacking. Then, while warming up some croissants, she actually had the nerve to blame us for causing the foul smell! Really? How on earth does warming croissants cause a bleach-seafood combo stench?! **Inconsistent Restaurant Experience:** We dined at the hotel restaurant the night before, and it was great, which just shows how inconsistent the management is. It’s obvious the night staff knows what they're doing—unlike the morning crew, who seem to have no clue about customer service. In conclusion, while the hotel design might be impressive, don’t be fooled. The staff, especially management, are absolutely terrible. It’s rare that I leave a hotel feeling more stressed than when I arrived, but congratulations, SIDE Design Hotel Hamburg, you managed to pull it off. I would never, ever stay here again, and I urge anyone reading this to steer clear if you value your time, money, and sanity. Zero stars. Avoid this place like the plague.

The air conditioning does not work, there is no way to park the motorcycle safely. Not acceptable in this class of hotel

5 stars are just not 5 stars. We as enthusiastic Elysians (Grand Élysée guests) are disappointed. Where in the Élysée you have to search for dust and fingerprints without success... in Side they are not far... the rooms are really noisy... the coffee machine is ok. Not more. Stuffy air and no window to tilt. Unfortunately the toilet seat is outdated... yellow.. Gone with it and the imitation leather trash can with it... unsightly. Recycled toilet paper isn't 5 stars for me either. The breakfast is great. Enough choice and fresh. You can give it 5 stars. Overall it's really too expensive compared to other 5 stars...

In midsummer room temp. 27 degrees . The website advertises air conditioning, which is not available. Cooling system not designed for high temperatures. Not recommended with a baby in midsummer. COMPLAINTS remain unanswered. Lawyer is involved.

My favorite hotel in Hamburg for over 20 years. The rooms are still very stylish. This time we had a good and newly renovated room. Overall, you can say that the service is first class - both at the breakfast buffet and at the reception. Gladly again every time…

A great, modern hotel with very friendly staff. The rooms are quite large for downtown Hamburg and really clean. Special praise goes to the pool area, which was checked several times an hour and cleaned up if necessary. In general, we were very satisfied with our stay and would love to come back!

Stylish hotel near the Gänsemarkt. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are beautifully furnished and have a great style. The spa and sauna area is great, the water is pleasantly warm. We were here for the fourth time and will definitely come back!!

Once or twice a month there is an after-work event on the roof terrace with a DJ, cool beats and cocktails. Urban, hip and chic. However, there is some room for improvement when it comes to cocktails. They are of varying quality for their price.

We had dinner here which was excellent. Restaurants name us (m)eatery absolutely recommended 👌
