Erstaunlich gute Qualität des chinesischen Essens

Sehr schönes, traditionell eingerichtetes Restaurant mit sehr leckerem und reichhaltigem Mittagstisch. Im Preis mit inbegriffen war eine tolle Pekingsuppe, die ich so schon lange in Hamburg gesucht habe. Der Service war freundlich und total fix. Es gibt praktischerweise auch einen Parkplatz. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Bis vor wenigen Jahren war das Chin Chin sicher eines der besten chinesischen Restaurants. Nun hat der Service deutlich abgenommen und die Preise sind im Gegenzug stark angestiegen. Großteil der Hauptgerichte über EUR 30,00z Qualität Essen hat ebenfalls nachgelassen. Es gibt inzwischen deutlich bessere Adressen zu faireren Preisen. Werde nicht mehr hingehen.

Wir haben zu fünft als Familie zu Mittag gegessen und waren vor 45 Jahren schon immer gerne hier. Das Essen war sehr lecker und es gab viel Auswahl, auch an vegetarischen Gerichten. Der Fleischanteil ist sehr groß, ich hätte mir etwas mehr Gemüse gewünscht. Der Service war sehr gut und schnell.

Gutes Restaurant, nicht ganz günstig wird dem Preis aber gerecht, kann man empfehlen, komme gerne wieder vorbei.

Wenn man die richtigen Gerichte wählt, dann bekommt man authentisches chinesische Gerichte. Prima. Traut Euch noch originellere chinesische Gerichte anzubieten.

Aus Anlass meines Geburtstags waren wir mit sechs Peronen im Shin-Shin zum Essen. Die Bedienung war nett und zügig, zudem sehr kinderfreundlich. Nach der Vorspeise, Frühlingsrollen und Suppe, kamen recht bald die Hauptgerichte an den Tisch. Wir hatten fünf unterschiedliche Gerichte bestellt, und jedes erfüllte oder übertraf unsere Erwartungen. Jedes Gericht hatte einen individuellen Geschmack, die Gemüse knackig und bissfest, alle Fleischsorten auf den Punkt gegart und dabei saftig. Das für mich leckerste Gericht war aber die Barbecue-Rinderfiletplatte, gewürzt mit schwarzem Pfeffer und chinesischer Satay Sauce, dazu feine Champignons und Lauch-Koriander. Die geschmackliche Tiefe mit dem geschrotetem Pfeffer sowie einer würzigen Sauce waren grandios! Wir kommen bald wieder.

15,90 Euro für einen Mittagstisch (Rind Szechuan mit Frühlingsrolle als Vorspeise) ist mittlerweile schon heftig. Die kleine Frühlingsrolle kam zuerst. Ich dachte schon, das sollte sie gewesen sein, das war aber nur ein Gruß aus der Küche, die Vorspeisen Frühlingsrolle kam danach. Netter Service, das Essen hat geschmeckt, es hätte aber etwas mehr Sauce dabei sein können.

Sehr nett, wir waren hier mit der Familie. Es hat sehr gut geschmeckt und die Bedienung war wirklich sehr nett, aufmerksam und professionell. Vielen Dank für den schönen Abend.

Leckeres Essen, netter Service und spezielles Ambiente. Deshalb gehen wir seit langer Zeit immer wieder gerne hier hin. Einfach ein Klassiker seit vielen Jahren im Norden Hamburgs.

Wir waren hier essen, weil wir von Ostholstein kommend etwas abholen mussten in Hamburg. Mein Mann kennt das Restaurant von früher. Einfach gut. Ein großer Laden. Gut organisiert. Außergewöhnliches Essen. Nicht das übliche 08/15 Essen beim Chinesen. Hier gibt es zum Beispiel auch Lamm oder Schweinshaxe oder Känguru Fleisch....ups.... Mein Mann hatte Lamm, ich Ente. Das war großartig. Es gab einen Schnaps und kleine Frühlingsrollen vorweg und hinterher ein kleiner, süßer Gruß aus der Küche. Das Personal außerordentlich nett und humorvoll. Wir waren begeistert. Ein gelungener Ausflug mit grandiosem Essen. Jederzeit wieder.

Wir waren nach ca. einem Jahr mal wieder im Shin Shin. Beim Blick in die Karte gab es den ersten Schreck - die Preise haben extrem angezogen, mittlerweile viele Hauptgerichte deutlich über 30 Euro. Die Kellner/innen machen einen hektischen Eindruck, eigentlich möchte man doch von Anfang bis Ende einen entspannten Abend haben. Allgemein hat der Service nachgelassen, z.B. keine heißen Tücher mehr. Zu Hause stellten wir fest, dass unsere Kleidung stark nach Pommesbude riecht - kein Merkmal guter Küche. Sehr schade.

Ich war zum ersten Mal im Shin Shin essen und es wird nicht das letzte Mal gewesen sein. Das Essen war von guter Qualität, der Service ausgezeichnet und man konnte sich wunderbar unterhalten. Es gibt einen kostenlosen Parkplatz.

Sehr sehr nett und super leckeres Essen!!!

Die Bedienung ein älterer Herr drängte uns mit dreimaliger Aufforderung zum Bestellen. Sich kurz sammeln geschweige denn die Karte in Ruhe durchlesen war nicht möglich. Unser Glas wurde oben mit den Händen angefasst so dass wir einen Strohhalm bestellten. Dies bekamen wir, wenn auch aus Plastik. Die Bedienung hatte es so eilig, dass sie mein Salat und mein Messer mit abräumte. Sorry aber das ist wirklich unverschämt! Das nächste Mal verzichten wir auf einen Besuch bei Ihnen und wählen ein anderes Restaurant.

I wanted to describe this place in a few words, from the disappointment and astonishment I experienced there to the preparation of the food, which was at the lowest level a restaurant with such a tradition could possibly offer. I am convinced I will never visit this establishment again.

We've been eating there on and off for years. It's a very nice restaurant with friendly service. The food is delicious and plentiful. Children are welcome, and there's plenty of parking. Takeout is also very good. Reservations are a must! Everything is on one level.

It's always great to be here. I've known some of the staff for decades and just feel comfortable. My all-time favorite: the mushroom and beef from the side menu.

The ambiance here is unique: The restaurant features traditional Chinese decor, something you only find in a few restaurants of this type. The service could be a bit friendlier. The food is delicious, but could use a bit more bold seasoning; the portions are absolutely generous. I'd be happy to return!

We have been customers at Shin Shin with all my family for over 35 years! The food is excellent, I especially like the crispy duck. It tastes delicious. - everything outside with all-inclusive open buffets isn't for us, mass-produced frozen food! Plus, the prices at Shin Shin are normal. The food portions are huge. I think the service is excellent, the food tastes delicious, the sauces are delicious. And we mustn't forget about the language. It's not their native language. Nevertheless, I find the staff very attentive and professional. At Shin Shin, everything is cooked with love! The only traditional Chinese restaurant in Hamburg. Please give the stars fair, because this restaurant deserves more than five stars.!!!! Regards, Kokosch

What a shame... it used to be great, but unfortunately, it's no longer there. We've known this restaurant for many years and are loyal regulars. The prices are now completely exorbitant, and the friendliness leaves much to be desired! When I asked for a duck dish with pineapple, the waiter, in an annoyed manner, immediately showed me the dish on the menu. Unfortunately, it wasn't what I had imagined or described. Incidentally, there are four different duck dishes with pineapple. I would have expected a lot more friendly explanation. Shin Shin urgently needs to work on customer satisfaction! ... otherwise, they'll continue to lose long-standing, loyal customers.

Probably Hamburg's oldest Chinese restaurant. I was there with my grandparents and now with my children. A huge store, plenty of free parking, and a wide selection of Chinese delicacies.

I was back in September 2025 after four years, and it's gotten much better. The portions are large and very tasty... the staff is very friendly... I'll be back soon!

I'll make it short: it used to be a real institution. But the golden days are really over. It simply no longer lives up to its reputation as an upscale establishment. The prices are steep, especially for the main courses, but the service itself is rarely truly delivered. Service is both great and bad: there are some great and very nice waitresses, but also some who are very rude and almost indifferent. I think if they lowered the prices, made a bit more effort, and turned everything upside down in terms of hygiene, they could achieve quite a bit, but simply clinging to the old days of the 90s and using that to justify exorbitant prices will eventually lead to its closure. What a shame. I used to love it very much. Because a visit here used to be a truly experience, from the cloakroom to the hot towels.

Price-wise, it's an upscale Chinese restaurant—but considering the food and the fulfilling feeling after a delicious and enjoyable evening, the euros weren't an issue. Highly recommended! (I had the V3 – vegan lamb (with extra chili), just tried it, it was damn delicious!!)

Very tasty Chinese cuisine in a lovely setting. The service is rather rude and unfriendly. The prices are a bit high, but the portions are large and, as mentioned, the food tastes good.

I used to be a regular at what was then called the “premium Chinese restaurant”... Now I’m in the area again and wanted to reminisce about the good times! And now I’m disappointed from start to finish... the entire building, inside and out, is completely neglected, the photos from successful times with the stars and starlets from the last millennium unfortunately no longer say anything... Everything is dusty and dirty, the bathroom floor is sticky like sticky tape, the joints are covered in black mold. The food is served carelessly, a carved carrot lies on top of the food as if it had been thrown from a distance and is very dried out... you shouldn’t touch the carved room dividers or the wooden edges on the walls, otherwise the food will be completely covered in dust. This restaurant used to be the first address for great Chinese food with a certain conscience - unfortunately, nothing is left of that heyday... The food was good so far, but as already mentioned, served carelessly. I even feel sorry for the turtles and the fish...it seems no one loves them anymore either. The jade mountain in front of the former (guarded) cloakroom, which used to shine, is now covered in a thick layer of dust... I won't be visiting this restaurant again now—what a shame!

Today, two adults and I visited the Shin Shin restaurant. The smell we encountered upon entering didn't speak of freshness or hygiene. Nevertheless, we took a chance and ordered one duck and one shop-sue beef. The taste was bland and tasteless, especially since the dishes arrived one after the other, with a time difference of 5.5 minutes. The first dish wasn't hot, and to top it all off, we received the bill without being asked, with the sentence, "You want to pay." Once and never again.

Lunch at Shin Shin!!! First of all, I have to say I don't understand all the negative reviews. My ordered duck – a very large and generous portion – was deliciously prepared. The aromas and flavors were spot on. I could easily say it was the tastiest duck I've ever eaten. And all for only €14.90 – a great price, simply unbeatable. Super friendly service – very courteous and attentive. I have nothing to complain about! The ambiance and restrooms are dated, but very, very clean. See you next time!!!

This restaurant used to be a highlight, but today only the ambience is Chinese. Greasy noodles with ominous cubes of meat stayed in my stomach for hours after eating. What was supposed to be Chinese about this food is a mystery to me. Our family classic, chicken with pineapple, is just meat with breading, pineapple, very little sauce and rice. No vegetables... the rest is boring. Any hobby chef can do it better! Typical Chinese spices are probably not used at all. The prices are impressive. The service is superficially friendly... it seems like everything has to happen very quickly. This restaurant won't see me again.

I made a mistake that was only explained to me later. I ordered sweet and sour redfish - the redfish was completely cooked like a leather, it had probably been in a fryer for too long. It was definitely difficult to chew and smelled extremely fishy. Never eat fish at a Chinese restaurant again! Since I was invited, I didn't want to complain about the food, that was the second mistake!

We were there yesterday and I found some black Teflon sticks from the Vok in my food!!!! That was disgusting!!!!!! I have to give back my food because no one wanted to bring me new food, but I've lost my appetite!!! 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮and expensive too!!! You have to eat 2 malls for almost 80 euros. paid !!! and of course I didn't pay!!!

Yes, although the delicious food was negatively affected by loud clattering noises from the staff as they frantically moved around the heating plates for the tables.

Five of us visited Shin Shin. In fact, the decor is quite authentic. The service changed from initially disgruntled to later friendly. The food was as expected for some and nothing special for others. The prices are generally a bit high for the overall service.

I was really pleasantly surprised! The duck was super crispy and a real highlight in terms of taste. You'll get really full - you definitely get something for your money here. For the price you would have easily paid €30 elsewhere. The starter was also very tasty and the staff were consistently friendly and attentive. All in all a successful visit – I would love to come back!

So we have been visiting the restaurant for several years, the pictures are from 2017/2024 To be honest, I'm really disappointed now 😞 The one service employee with a reddish bob doesn't seem to enjoy her job anymore, she somehow always treats you in a very grumpy, distant, annoyed manner. Forgets the orders, forgets to ask if you would like something more to drink… not nice service. Really very unfriendly! Today we arrived a few minutes after lunch and were given the menu including the lunch menu. My husband then wanted to order C4, Then people looked at the clock frantically and annoyed and announced loudly that it was already after 4:00 p.m. (4:05 p.m.!). That doesn't work anymore. I think we could have turned a blind eye to well-paying guests. Schweinske in Farmsen does that. The main meal was good, not quite my taste but well cooked. The dessert (i.e. what is included in the bill)… this puff pastry with powdered sugar looked generous and different on the lunch tables next to us than in ours, So for the others, the powdered sugar was on top, for us it was all mixed together and it looked like leftovers from the bag of chips... was it because the lunch table next to us hadn't eaten their pastries??? A rogue would have thought now... Well 🫤 seemed strange to me - it wasn't warm (as usual) but sticky and cold. The ambience is kind of old-fashioned but that's exactly what I like. What I didn't like was the extremely cakey floor Toilet area- My uncle once told me: like the toilet in a house, so does the kitchen... I hope that's not true 🙄 So, broadly speaking, my conclusion about the restaurant, or rather what the restaurant is missing: nicer service employees a little better hygiene in the toilet areas a little more attentive and treat every guest equally well that would be nice then I would go to this restaurant more often. I give everyone several chances but unfortunately they have now been used up. About €58 for two, my husband gave €65... I wouldn't have done that if I had been so grumpy and annoyed with how the waitress treated us.

Maybe for lunch. Very old. Unkempt. Dirt in the corners everywhere. The ornamental fish in the aquariums have a miserable existence and I feel very sorry for them. The food completely OK but for the price it has to be better. The duck e.g. B. was sinewy and dry and hard at the ends. Not enough for the price. We were there on February 23rd. Have lunch with 4 people and can prove this with a receipt and witnesses.

Seit fast 35 Jahren sind wir immer wieder gerne in dieses Restaurant zu allen möglichen Gelegenheiten gekommen. Leider ist es seit Jahren immer schlechter geworden. Es ist furchtbar teuer und die Qualität der Speisen, die ehemals überdurchschnittlich gut war, ist inzwischen auf niedrigster Imbiss Stufe angelangt. Billigstes Fleisch wird in gleicher Glutamat geschwängerter brauner Sauce serviert. Service sehr hektisch und die wohl leicht hysterische Chefin dominiert kreischend das Geschehen. Umgeben wird man von dem 70 Jahre Style eines Boxers, der sich wohl in dieser Art China vorstellt? Aber 50 Jahre später sieht die Welt schon anders aus. Also Tschüss Hein ten Hoff. Tschüss Chin Chin.

Leider wieder mal enttäuschent. Wir hatten uns auf netten Empfang und gute Bewirtung gefreut. Fehlanzeige....Dalli, Dalai nehmen sie Platz. Noch nicht mal aus dem Mantel lagen schon die Speisekarten auf dem Tisch. Die Bediensten hektisch unterwegs , um alle neuen Gäste zu platzieren. Das Personal bemüht, aber distanziert und so wenig herzlich. Das Auftischen geht ratzfatz....alles lecker nich? Die Vorsuppe schmeckte, aber die Ente war trocken und auch das Gericht mit Garnelen war in einer dicken Glutamat Sauce kaum von der Platte zu Löffeln. Sorry, aber können die Chinesen nicht besser kochen und Gäste bewirten? Ab heute suchen wir uns einen anderen Gastgeber.

You can certainly always have bad luck with your food. However, I cannot understand the negative entries here. Was just there yesterday and the food was amazing!!!! The restaurant is not expensive, I paid €23 for the dish. The portion was very generous and there were even some little things, such as mini spring rolls, plum schnapps and a small dessert for free. I would love to come back!!!

We weren't happy with the food. The crispy grilled duck was simply the fried, semi-dry duck that you get in any cheap Chinese restaurant, and at prices that are 100% more than the maximum you can charge for something like that.

Leider waren wir heute sehr enttäuscht . Wir hatten 2 mal knusprige Ente Nr 85 . Sie war hart , viel zu lange frittiert und man schmeckte altes/ überhitztes Frittierfett . Wir kommen eigentlich regelmäßig und für einen so üppigen Preis kann man bessere Qualität erwarten .

I've known this restaurant since I was a child. Today I have children of my own and have been here again after a long time. Unfortunately, memories of the restaurant are better than it actually is, objectively judged today. The most important thing is that the quality of the food is absolutely solid and the selection is very wide. Some finesse is missing in the seasoning of the dishes; everything could be more pointed and less uniform. But what, in my opinion, has absolutely no relation to the quality of the food are the prices. Our main courses cost over 30 EUR across the board, which is "ambitious" if you only get mediocre dishes. The interior also stands in stark contrast to the ambitious prices. Yes, it's decorated in "classic Chinese" style, at least it was decades ago. Given the condition of the interior, the last time investments were made in the interior was before the turn of the millennium. The fabric on all chair backs is clearly visibly rubbed/dirty and you get the impression that the quality of the furnishings is no longer of any importance. Really a shame overall, I will remember this Alstertal institution better than this last visit. I won't come back again. Apparently I'm not alone in this perception. There were very few guests in the very large restaurant when we visited.

The last time I was there was about 14 years ago and it has only confirmed that this restaurant is one of the worst Asian restaurants for me. The food has no taste, it all tastes very similar somehow. The absolute impudence, and they're really making a fool of themselves, are the outrageous prices. Yes, it has become more expensive everywhere, but there is no longer a dish under €25 at the Asian restaurant!!?!? For me and my friends, the store is dead!
