Stellungnahmen

My husband had reserved a table for two adults and a baby for this evening. We specifically requested a highchair when making the reservation. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we received a very unfriendly welcome. We were simply asked if we were at the table "in the back where lots of people are sitting." There was no friendly greeting or even eye contact. When we asked about the highchair, the waiter immediately told us that both were already taken. This was particularly disappointing, as we were there with an 11-month-old baby who, of course, couldn't sit on a regular chair. A restaurant this size should have more than just two highchairs, especially when they were requested during the reservation. Another waiter did try to find a solution, but after we were already seated at the table, had taken off our child's jacket, and waited, we were finally told that it wasn't possible after all. I am truly very disappointed, both by the first waiter's rudeness and by the poor organization. My husband had always raved about this restaurant, which is why I wanted to try it for the first time. Unfortunately, the experience was so negative that we definitely won't be coming back.

In an uncomfortable atmosphere, you can eat an authentic Peking duck here for far too much money (€72 for half a duckling!!!). The preparation and carving are the highlight! It did taste good, though! However, there are places in Hamburg where you can get a better, and above all, a whole duck for the same price.

Overrated in my opinion. The decor is reminiscent of a nursing home's utilitarian dining room, and the Italian staff are inattentive and disinterested. For a starter, we had boiled broccoli in a slimy, tasteless sauce. The duck was okay—nothing special, and not as crispy as expected. For dessert, we had canned fruit. When we asked about the house wine, the response was: "It won't give you a headache." At least there was that!

In a nutshell, the duck is great — the atmosphere and service missed the mark. You come here for the crispy skin and tender meat of a proper Peking Duck, once served to emperors and now, thankfully, to an average Joe in the city. The cooking is done in the kitchen, but the carving is performed right at your table, and watching the chef slice the duck with such precision is genuinely impressive. The rest of the food is fine, nothing more. The rice pancakes are a matter of preference, the dark sweet sauce is delicious but needs just a tiny touch so it doesn’t overpower the duck, and the accompanying sides are standard. Jasmine tea is nice, again nothing remarkable. If you come here, come for the duck — full stop. Where things shift is the atmosphere. The dining room feels empty and dated, with no real sense of mood or identity. And then there’s the service — an Italian waiter who is casual, loud, and completely out of sync with the dish he’s presenting. I wasn’t expecting ceremonial bows or theatrical Asian hospitality, but a royal recipe like Peking Duck deserves a hint of dignity. Still, I want people to try it because the duck itself is genuinely worth it — just ignore everything happening around you and focus on the plate. Practical note: there’s a big parking area right in front of the restaurant, which is always appreciated.

Food: Both the beef and the chicken were soaked in baking soda! Apparently, it was supposed to make the meat nice and tender. You could taste the baking soda so strongly; there must have been a lot in there! The duck was absolutely not worth the price! The chef wanted to take half the duck back when he was carving it. Of course, we immediately made it clear that this wasn't acceptable, and we'll just eat the rest of the duck. By the way, the duck was carved on the leftovers from the previous table. 😂🤷🤦 Service: It's like an old Italian guy in a Chinese restaurant. 😂 It just doesn't fit, and it perfectly illustrates how incompetent the service is there. When the canned fruit dessert arrived, the waiter didn't even bother to wipe our table. The waiter was simply an outrage—rude, clumsy, and stuck in the 90s. Atmosphere: 😂😂😂😂 Cheap!!!! Nothing about it reminds me of China ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ Never, never, never again ‼️‼️‼️‼️ And of course, there was no tip ‼️‼️‼️‼️

I was unfortunately very disappointed with my visit to this restaurant. The expectations raised by the reviews and the menu were not met. There was a lack of vegetarian options; there were only a few side dishes that tasted okay, but weren't really convincing. The beef, unfortunately, wasn't really definite, which was very disappointing. The Peking duck was crispy and tender, but unfortunately, it was barely seasoned. The service, however, was the biggest problem. The waitress was absolutely unfriendly and seemed uninterested in caring for the guests. It was obvious that the staff weren't motivated to provide good service. The fact that the waitress chewed gum and simply placed things on the table without so much as a smile or a friendly greeting was very unpleasant. The drinks weren't any better. The apple spritzer was already so old or stale that it barely had any carbonation left. The restaurant's ambiance could be really nice if the service was up to scratch. Overall, I was very disappointed with my visit to Peking Duck House. The combination of poor service and underwhelming food makes it difficult to recommend this restaurant. The prices are definitely not justified considering how poorly you are treated. I certainly won't be returning and cannot recommend the restaurant. Conclusion: 1/5 stars. No, thank you, never again.

I visited the Peking Duck House and was very satisfied overall. The service was friendly, attentive, and clearly deserves 5 stars. The duck itself was excellent – crispy, juicy, and a real highlight in terms of flavor (5 stars). The ambiance is also very pleasant, cozy, and in keeping with the culinary experience (5 stars). There is one small drawback, however: For my taste, the portion of duck was a bit small in relation to the price. I also mentioned this to the diners, but unfortunately, they were rather laughed at, which I found disappointing. Apart from that, it was a truly delicious experience that I can recommend – especially to Peking duck lovers. Conclusion: A very good restaurant with great duck, top service, and a lovely atmosphere. However, if you have a big appetite, keep this in mind.

I had arranged to meet a good friend at this restaurant on a Sunday evening. He had always wanted to try Peking duck, so we decided on the Peking duck menu. We really enjoyed the evening, which consisted of a starter, half a Peking duck, and a healthy dessert. The starter was spicy chicken. The Peking duck was carved at the table and served with lettuce, cucumber slices, rice cakes, and sesame sauce. The duck was super soft, delicious, and full-flavored. We accompanied it with a good red wine. For dessert, there was a fruit salad. The atmosphere in the room was okay, but the decor was a bit cold. The service was nice and friendly.

Unfortunately, my visit to the Peking Duck House was anything but what I expected. The service seemed listless, unfriendly, and so unmotivated—the waiter even chewed gum while serving, which I found a bit inappropriate. The appetizer (beef) was truly tasteless. It was swimming in oil—so we didn't finish our meals. Instead of at least asking if there was anything wrong, the waiter simply cleared the plate with a curt "Ready?" I was particularly annoyed by the way my gluten intolerance was handled. I had mentioned it right at the beginning—but they still placed a sauce with the duck that contained gluten. Had I not asked, I would have eaten it without thinking. No warning, no consideration. The waiter also seemed to assume I should just eat the duck "plain" without anything else (traditionally, duck is eaten with pancakes and sauce). Since both contained gluten, I didn't have a side dish. Only after I asked for it was I given a gluten-free sauce and rice – thanks to the chef and the friendly barman. Thanks to both of them; they were the only ones who were attentive and professional. Such a service would normally be the responsibility of the waiters in a higher-priced restaurant. And the Peking duck itself? It's praised online as "Hamburg's best." My experience: tender meat, yes, crispy skin too – but the skin tasted only of fat and completely unseasoned. There's not much left of the restaurant's supposed flagship dish. I've had much better Peking duck in Hamburg. Conclusion: From the service to the appetizer to the famous duck – for me, the visit was unfortunately a bitter disappointment. Only the kitchen and the bar were friendly and attentive, while the table service was a disgrace. I certainly won't be coming back.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Peking Duck House in Hamburg, and it turned out to be a truly special evening. The Peking duck itself tasted just as delicious as it did on our honeymoon in Beijing. The sauce was simply perfect with the duck; the two absolutely belong together. The chef trained in China, and you can taste it. We also particularly appreciated the warmth and attention with which we were looked after that evening. For us, the evening was like a short vacation—we'll definitely be back soon!

No, thank you, but NO, once and never again. After we were seated at the table, no waiter came for 10 minutes. When the waiter finally came out of the restrooms, he did wet his hands behind the bar, but that was far from a proper wash. Drinks were taken and arrived after almost another 10 minutes. The food was taken away. They had an allergen list, but no idea where it was, and therefore couldn't show it. While waiting, I watched as straws from the cleared table were placed directly back into the glass with the fresh, new ones, and as returned glasses were immediately rinsed with the glass washer to refill them. The food arrived, was thoroughly oversalted, and otherwise tasted just a bit harsh. We were ignored several times before we could order more. The restrooms are flooded and so narrow that they're not wheelchair accessible. The bill was incorrect, and the prices didn't match the menu.

Thanks, but thanks, no, I'll be back for a second visit. Can I recommend this restaurant? Unfortunately, not. The two dishes we ordered were so over-seasoned that you couldn't even taste the original flavor. The double-roasted duck was so salty that even the rice couldn't help. The waiter greets you warmly and quickly, but everything else is a game of patience. What would otherwise work perfectly well to get the waiter's attention without much gesturing is skillfully ignored here. Unfortunately, two identical drink orders result in two different ones on the bill, but at the same price. One can only hope that the taste experience will be different with the set meals. The price difference between two meals and a set meal for two is negligible.

Yesterday we ate Peking duck with 4 people. What was strange was that there was a sign at the entrance saying that the renovation of the restaurant had been postponed. I'm someone who likes to look at the food and drink menu on the homepage in advance. I did the same here and was looking forward to a gin and tonic for 8.00 euros. We got to the restaurant in time and the waiters were still setting up. In general, the waiter wasn't very friendly at the beginning. What was of course really disappointing was that the gin and tonic didn't cost 14 euros like it did on the HP 8. Ok, then a glass of rose wine for 5 euros. I have to say that I don't pay attention to every cent when I go out to eat, but the prices should be right. Peking duck was ok so far. The duck got cold quickly and the side dishes, cold cucumber, leeks and sauce helped it even more quickly. At the end there was a carelessly prepared fruit salad. But the most blatant thing was the bill. We had a total of 5 rose wine and the bill now said it was "6" euros. When asked the waiter about it, he just said that's what it says in the cash register and there was probably a change of "boss" and he probably hasn't adjusted the cards yet. That doesn't work at all. No apology, just talking it out of it. Very disappointing. That was definitely the last time here. Be careful when parking!! The ticket machine is still on winter time and we then paid 2 euros for one hour. Normally 2 hours/2 euros.

First impression was very good - nice interior and comfortable seats. You could park your car directly in front of the restaurant. Unfortunately, after a short time it became apparent that the same 5 songs were always playing, followed by advertising again. (Perhaps YouTube playlist without AdBlocker/Prime membership?) The non-Asian waiter (Arabic?) brought the wrong drink first. Later I wanted to explain to my family how to hold the chopsticks correctly. I am already experienced in this area. The waiter suddenly came from the side and rudely interrupted me with a loud comment: “Wrong!!!” and then explained it himself in an incorrect way that no one understood. In order not to create a negative mood, I let him finish and waited for him to disappear again. I was then able to explain it to the family again calmly and correctly. The waiter came back later to ask if we still had enough bread. We answered “yes.” He then brought a new basket of bread, which was not touched. The duck was stylishly prepared, but for its price it didn't taste particularly good, but was quite digestible. All in all, an interesting experience that you can have once. However, it is not necessary to visit again.

The Peking duck is served traditionally - very lightly seasoned and crispy skin. The starter, Mapu Tofu, is not spicy enough to be authentic. Unfortunately, the service is catastrophically bad - in a bad mood and completely untrained in what to look out for. Even if notice is given, no improvements are made. Only a third of the restaurant was occupied that evening and there was an awkward silence.

The food was again very tasty, unfortunately it cooled down in a short time. Otherwise, the Peking duck is a delight. We have been there four times in the last 10 years. Even in the previous rooms. A little tip from me, the dessert could be spiced up a bit with ice cream. Or as a 2 variant to choose from. But that's a tip.

Peking duck was tasty overall - although it has to be added that we waited an extremely long time. The duck was served to us about 90 minutes after it appeared. The portions of the starters were very small - but that's actually quite good as you're hungry enough for the duck. A whole duck is more than enough for 3 people and will leave you very full. The dessert was a bit bland and only consisted of a few fruits. The ambience is very simple and unspectacular - seems more like a community hall than a Chinese restaurant. Service was okay. A little understaffed with two waiters for the entire restaurant. We will try the Dim Sum House next time to have a direct comparison.

They have a set of the food. You can choose the pre dish , main dish is of course the duck and some side dishes. The dessert is the fruits. The drinks you have to order extra. The set for two costs 35 Euro per person ( plus drinks) the service can be better and smoother but over all was fine.

The 5 stars are for the Peking duck, which is truly a delicacy. Everything else was good, apart from the dessert, which was unconvincing.

Unfortunately we had to wait a long time for everything, starting with the menu. Unfortunately, the service was not appropriate for the price-performance ratio. A Peking duck for 2 people costs 70.00 euros, for 3 people 130.00 euros. Is not appropriate. Unfortunately, there is no longer any food worth 60.00 euros for the 60.00 euros. Too bad.

The Peking Duck House in Hamburg is truly a delight! The food is very tasty and of excellent quality. Particularly noteworthy is the excellent service: the owner personally came to our table several times to make sure everything was OK. In the end, based on his recommendation, we were served a fantastic tea that rounded off the experience perfectly. We'll definitely be back!

We had a really nice evening here. The baked Peking duck is carved directly on the spot. As soon as the bite-sized morsels are on the table, you wrap the drake in a thin flatbread, add some vegetables and hoisin sauce and eat the whole thing like a kind of duck dürüm. It was delicious, but despite the starters we were somehow missing some side dishes. After the third Dürüm you actually saw it and the duck magic is over. There's a little bit of variety missing here. Everything is relatively expensive. A small beer from China costs €6 and half a Peking duck costs an impressive €70. Chickens hate this trick. You can do that once, but unfortunately it won't be enough for a second visit despite the nice service.

We have had Peking duck here once and I absolutely loved it. The food was amazing and there was certainly enough to fill every stomach size. The sauce that comes with the duck is great, the vegetables are crunchy, the pancakes are soft and smooth: I would definitely come here again.

This evening we visited the Peking Duck House and had a delicious meal. It's been a while since I've eaten here, but it's still a pleasure. Had a Peking duck together and diced chicken in a spicy sauce as a starter, and then beef with onions. Afterwards, the main course was the Peking duck, which was expertly sliced in front of our table by the Chinese chef. Plus small steamed pancakes, leeks and cucumbers and a well-seasoned hoysin sauce. You have to wrap the little pancakes yourself and then eat them. The service in Beijing is first class, and very attentive and friendly. The Peking finish was on point, and tasted really delicious. A clear recommendation for this beautiful restaurant!

I had my first Peking duck in London Chinatown, so it was 100% authentic. Today I had the pleasure of experiencing the same thing again in Hamburg. The Peking duck was wonderful, tender meat and perfect, crispy skin. The side dishes were fresh and delicious. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is ready for such a culinary adventure and am already looking forward to my next visit. P.S. the service was incredibly nice!!!

A few weeks before our planned weekly visit to the Hanseatic city, we came across the "Peking Enten Haus" while searching for good and unusual restaurants! Didn't find it on my own because it's a bit inconspicuous and hidden! Reserved 14 days in advance because the reviews were good! We weren't disappointed! A nice table was prepared for the 6 of us! After delicious starters, the highlight was the serving of the ducks! In front of our table, each duck was cut into almost bite-sized pieces and served! There were also small, wafer-thin rice cakes with various sauces. An experience with matching drinks! A dessert at the end rounded off the evening! Well fed, we went to the second highlight, the water fountains with lighting and music in "Planten und Blomen" nearby.

I've been going to the Peking Duck House for probably 25 years. Now I haven't been there for maybe two years. Today we had half a duck again. Something has changed. The taste, what is special about the duck has changed. Or I have changed. The aroma of the duck is no longer as overwhelming. The sauce has somehow changed too. Doesn't matter. It was again tasty, but not great.

The Peking Duck House was recommended to us and it was not what we had imagined. Duck for 2 people for 70€, starter fish with rice, was good. Nothing more about it. DUCK was carved directly at the table, accompanied by tour guides, with soy sauce, goodies and leeks. A glass of fruit at the bedside table, we expected more.

I visited the Peking Duck House in Hamburg and I have to say that it was an unforgettable experience. The restaurant serves one of the best Peking ducks I have ever tasted. The preparation was perfect - the duck was tender and juicy while the skin was incredibly crispy and full of flavor. It was obvious that the chef had put his time and care into perfecting the Ming Dynasty recipe. In addition to the delicious duck, the side dishes were also excellent. The rice was perfectly cooked and the sauce went well with the flavor of the duck. The service was courteous and attentive, and the interior of the restaurant was attractive and atmospheric. It's obvious that the Peking Duck House in Hamburg works hard to create the perfect Peking Duck. They use only the best ingredients and have a long-standing tradition in Chinese cuisine. If you're looking for something special, don't miss the Beijing Duck House. I can't recommend it enough!

Schade.

We were guests last Saturday to eat the Peking duck menu. 80€ for two people (with drinks). Food: The starter (spicy beef) was delicious and so was the Peking duck along with the flatbreads! We were a bit surprised that the duck itself wasn't particularly tasty, but together with the sauce provided, the dish was great. It was especially fun to put together the dough rolls myself. Dessert was some fruit in a small glass (melon, grapes,..). To be honest, I would have expected something different here (e.g. a scoop of ice cream, some cream, etc.), so it simply wasn't a dessert that I would have ordered. In combination with the menu for the dish at the price requested, it was okay, but another dessert could have made the menu stand out better. Ambience: The large hall appears relatively cold together with the colors and elements in the room. It's not what you would expect in a "typical Asian" restaurant. The floor was a bit sticky in places, which of course could only have been a snapshot. The radio played as background music. Everything just didn't fit together so well, but the "mood" got better as more and more guests took their seats. The service was very quick and took good care of us - but it wasn't one of the best service experiences we've ever had. All in all, a restaurant that we would definitely visit again if we are nearby. 👍

The Peking duck is the centerpiece of Chinese cuisine, and you can see that clearly here in the Peking Duck House. My only criticism would be that it doesn't really hold a candle to the original Quan-Ju-De Peking duck in China, but I wouldn't expect that from a restaurant outside of China. The Peking soup is also recommended here.

The duck is really crispy, otherwise unfortunately tasteless. The side dishes are nothing special either. For €70 for two people just for food, you shouldn't go home hungry. Unfortunately that was the case for us. The service is more reminiscent of a Greek restaurant and you have to wait a long time. The location is very uncomfortable and far too bright. We wouldn't come back.

Immer gerne wieder!
