Shimai in München

Essen war sehr Lecker, Service ist super die waren sehr höflich, ich empfehle Ente Reis hat mir richtig geschmeckt

Waren hier heute Abend Essen. Hatten beide die knusprige Ente gehabt und seitdem Todes Bauchschmerzen… Edit: Wir haben uns beide übergeben. Meine Freundin hatte die knusprige Ente mit rotem Curry und ich das Wok Gericht mit knusprige Ente und es hat zeitgleich angefangen

Waren seit mehreren Jahren mal wieder im Shimai, aber diesmal nicht mehr so happy wie zuvor. Die Qualität des Essens hat deutlich nachgelassen. Wokgerichte waren sehr fettig, der Reis klumpig. Edamame zur Vorspeise eher lieblos angerichtet und ziemlich überkocht. Service ist nett, aber auch nicht herausragend. Ambiente geht so, aber laute Musik und Straßenlärm machen es nicht angenehmer. Alles in allem also leider eher mittelmäßig.

Waren etwas zu früh dran, das Lokal war gerade erst am öffnen und wir wurden trotzdem freundlich hineingebeten. In einem gemütlichen Ambiente haben wir köstlich gespeist und kommen gerne wieder

Sehr schönes Ambiente und gemütliches Sitzen. Die rote Thai Curry Ente ist zu empfehlen. Das vegane Eis nebenan ist eine perfekte Abrundung.

Gemütlicher Außenbereich. Nichts besonderes, aber es macht Freude. Der Service war zügig, aufmerksam und freundlich. Ich hatte eine Pho als Vorspeise, die wirklich sehr gut war. Tolle fleischqualität, hochklassige Brühe und einiges an optionalen Kräutern, Sprossen etc. . Ein paar chillis hätte ich mir noch gewünscht, ich habe aber auch versäumt nachzufragen. Als Hauptspeise hatte ich Green Pepper beef. Auch wirklich gut umgesetzt. Wieder gutes Fleisch , würzige Soße, klebriger Reis. Beim Gemüse wäre aus meiner Sicht noch etwas mehr gegangen. Es war streckenweise ein bisschen fad. Das ist allerdings Kritik auf hohem Niveau. Insgesamt kann ich das Shimai sehr empfehlen. Neben den genannten Kriterien, empfand ich Preis-/Leistung (insbesondere für München) als sehr fair.

Wir waren an einem Sonntagabend dort und saßen drinnen. Das Ambiente und die Atmosphäre haben uns sehr gut gefallen. Die Cocktails sind köstlich und die Tapas-Vorspeisen haben uns besonders gut geschmeckt! Die Hauptgerichte sind allerdings recht groß, sodass es zusammen mit den Vorspeisen eine ordentliche Portion sein kann. Auch für Vegetarier und Veganer ist bestens gesorgt. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Sehr gutes Essen und auch der Service war top. Preis-Leistung passt absolut und die Atmosphäre war angenehm. Kann ich auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen!

Obwohl wir unsere Getränke noch nicht ausgetrunken hatten, wurden wir gebeten, unseren Tisch für eine nachfolgende Reservierung freizugeben. Dabei waren draußen noch ausreichend Plätze verfügbar, die man der nächsten Gruppe hätte anbieten können. Dieses Vorgehen passt für mich weder zum Servicegedanken noch zum gewünschten Flair dieses Restaurants. Eigentlich eine Unverschämtheit in dieser Preis Kategorie. Sehr schade!

Sehr leckeres Essen, nette Bedienung und tolle Ambiente, etwas warm deswegen empfehlen ich nicht zu warm sich anzuziehen.

Liebhaber der vietnamesischen Küche sollten sich diese Adresse unbedingt merken. Die Preise sind zwar relativ hoch, aber für München üblich, und die Qualität der Speisen rechtfertigt das. Das Restaurant ist wunderschön eingerichtet und hat eine sehr gemütliche Atmosphäre.

Hat meine Erwartung absolut übertroffen. Sehr freundlicher Service und grossartige Preis-Leistung! Komme gerne wieder.

Die thailändische Curry-Ente ist einfach himmlisch 👌🏾

Es ist im hinteren Bereich sehr laut :) Ansonsten wirklich top. Wenn es geht vorne Reservieren!

Leider war der erste Satz der Begrüßung : sie haben den Tisch nur 2 Stunden. Zudem wurden wir in dem hinterem Teil platziert, der sehr dunkel und ist. Gleichzeitig fand in dem kleinen Raum eine Geburtstagsfeier mit ca 15 Leuten statt. Wir konnten uns kaum unterhalten. Es wäre schön gewesen, wenn man uns in den vorderen Raum platziert hätte. War jetzt kein Highlight!

Passt einfach immer dort! Habe da noch nie schlecht gegessen. Unbedingt die Signature Cocktails probieren!

Dieses Restaurant hat meine Erwartungen übertroffen! Der Mango Sticky Rice Cocktail war der Wahnsinn! 🤩 (Leider hatte ich mit dem Jasmintee nicht so viel Glück, er schmeckte überhaupt nicht nach Jasmin, sondern eher nach normalem Grüntee.) Die Vorspeisen waren köstlich, und die Hauptgerichte auch. Riesige Portionen, perfekt abgestimmte, reichhaltige Saucen, Top-Qualität. (Ich hatte die „Roll it yourself“-Platte mit knuspriger Ente – ein absoluter Volltreffer!) Ruhige, charmante Atmosphäre und sehr freundliches Personal. 😊 Definitiv empfehlenswert!

Some of the main dishes were a bit too salty (we ordered stir-fried vermicelli and tofu and vegetable rice). The service and ambiance were good, but they insisted on charging a tip of about 8%.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I've now been to Shimai in Maxvorstadt twice and I'm thrilled every time. Fresh, creative, yet traditional Vietnamese cuisine, incredibly delicious dishes, and extremely friendly staff. For me, the best Vietnamese restaurant in Munich – a definite recommendation and a full 5 stars!

Plus: An appealing ambiance with really good and attentive service. The wine and drinks menu is also excellent. Minus: Unfortunately, the red curry tasted like little more than mildly spiced coconut milk with frozen vegetables, somewhat reminiscent of a Vietnamese fast food joint. I expected more at around €20 per main course.

Incredibly delicious food! I had the red curry with shrimp. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo of the appetizer platter, but I highly recommend it. Even though the food is a bit more expensive, it's definitely worth it – the quality was top-notch! Another plus point is the huge selection of food and drinks, and the friendly service.

What is fine dining? Does that mean the food is served on black plates and you pay double? Don't get me wrong, it tasted very good. But rice with vegetables for €18 is a bit much. Then it should at least be organic. And a large bottle of water for €7.50 is an absolute disgrace. The staff was super nice, but they brought the wrong main course. It's definitely worth going there once, but I wouldn't go more often. I'd rather go to the small Vietnamese restaurant around the corner, where it costs half as much and tastes just as good.

Our daughter, who lives in Munich, had chosen the restaurant, which tourists would probably pass by. We sat comfortably in a kind of winter garden. The service was excellent, the house cocktails and lemonades were outstanding, and the food was sensational—you don't always have to eat pork belly and knuckles in a beer garden!

I'm a student from Berlin and was here last week. The food was too greasy, and there was no wine recommendation. After a bill of over €200, we left a €10 tip, and overheard the staff complaining that it was "too little." Very disappointing and unprofessional.

Vielfältige Karte mit teils ausgefallenen Gerichten, sehr schön angerichtet. Durchaus vernünftiges Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, es gibt auch günstigere Gerichte auf der Tageskarte, aber es lohnt sich immer. Gerne wieder!

Very tasty lunch with a colleague of mine. We both had duck, with peanut sauce and with sweet and sour sauce. Both were excellent and can be recommended. Service is really good, fast and helpful.

Had lunch on a hot Sunday. Ten people sat outside. The wooden roof was unbearable, and there were no fans! The food was as good as any other Asian restaurant.

The food was really delicious, and there's a small selection of vegan/vegetarian options. I had the butter tofu dish, which was really delicious. And the vegetarian dumplings were also great! The interior is a bit darker, so older people might have trouble reading the menu :D Suggestions for improvement: - Please better label vegan and gluten-free dishes! - More vegan dishes would be appreciated.

A great Vietnamese spot tucked away in the heart of the Maxvorstadt. There was lots of outdoor seating available with a retractable roof and heaters for chilly or rainy months. The food was great, especially the papaya salad as well as the veggie dumplings and avocado and eggplant salads. The organic butter tofu was delicious as well. The service was very welcoming and friendly and the interior decor of the restaurant was also very modern and well done. All in all a great spot to get your Vietnamese food fix!

The quality of the food is the same as in a restaurant in a shopping center. It's a real shame. The price-performance ratio isn't right at all. The staff is very helpful, but the price is definitely not reasonable. They only serve 0.2 litres of Coke with ice, and the rest is water without ice. This menu simply needs more to offer.

Delicious and creative Vietnamese food served by kind staff who knows the cuisine in and out! The quality and freshness of ingredients is superior which when combined with great techniques means you get creative dishes like their bánh tôm!
