Very nice ambiance, relaxed atmosphere, welcome, perfect service, and very friendly staff. Very good food, imaginatively prepared, with fresh ingredients. I made a reservation a few days in advance because demand was so high. We'll definitely be back!

Very tasty lunch with a colleague of mine. We both had duck, with peanut sauce and with sweet and sour sauce. Both were excellent and can be recommended. Service is really good, fast and helpful.

Had lunch on a hot Sunday. Ten people sat outside. The wooden roof was unbearable, and there were no fans! The food was as good as any other Asian restaurant.

The food was really delicious, and there's a small selection of vegan/vegetarian options. I had the butter tofu dish, which was really delicious. And the vegetarian dumplings were also great! The interior is a bit darker, so older people might have trouble reading the menu :D Suggestions for improvement: - Please better label vegan and gluten-free dishes! - More vegan dishes would be appreciated.

A great Vietnamese spot tucked away in the heart of the Maxvorstadt. There was lots of outdoor seating available with a retractable roof and heaters for chilly or rainy months. The food was great, especially the papaya salad as well as the veggie dumplings and avocado and eggplant salads. The organic butter tofu was delicious as well. The service was very welcoming and friendly and the interior decor of the restaurant was also very modern and well done. All in all a great spot to get your Vietnamese food fix!

The quality of the food is the same as in a restaurant in a shopping center. It's a real shame. The price-performance ratio isn't right at all. The staff is very helpful, but the price is definitely not reasonable. They only serve 0.2 litres of Coke with ice, and the rest is water without ice. This menu simply needs more to offer.

Delicious and creative Vietnamese food served by kind staff who knows the cuisine in and out! The quality and freshness of ingredients is superior which when combined with great techniques means you get creative dishes like their bánh tôm!

Cute but fine restaurant and food. Anyone who is truly Asian will not be happy here. The European tongue, on the other hand, is simply covered in moss! The duck is perfectly crispy and the homemade lemonade is amazing! 10/10 recommendation

Extremely good food, away from the mainstream! Very attentive staff. We had made a reservation, but were able to move around without any problems because our place was occupied by a large, loud group of neighbors and we could hardly understand each other. The butter crab was a little too greasy, but the rest was super good. The prices are a bit high, but you don't treat yourself to a restaurant like that - at least I don't - not that often. Cocktails were also really good and unusual, not too sweet. All in all great!

Several of us had dinner at Shimai at the weekend. Because it had good reviews. The food had little taste. It was so disappointing! And it was just so overpriced for the small portions. We left a lot of money there and then we all went hungry and grabbed a sandwich next door. The service was terrible. The waiter was unfriendly. Didn't have a nice smile. In general it was very unpleasant and we didn't feel welcome. Not recommended.

Highly recommended Asian restaurant. We felt very comfortable here, thanks in part to the friendly service. We were also able to make a reservation at relatively short notice. We would definitely come back.

All the dishes I ate were good. However, points are deducted because dishes that are listed as gluten-free on the menu are not gluten-free and one person in our group was therefore very restricted - and their dish also contained a piece of meat that belonged to the duck who wasn't gf. Too bad. If they fix it it will be 5 stars.

Overall a nice, cozy shop. Everything is a bit tight, but that's the case almost everywhere these days. Food is solidly good. There is one star deduction for the cocktail. Without understatement, the Sake Basil Smash didn't taste like basil at all, as you know from good Gin Basil Smash. The color or cloudiness also gave no indication of basil. The only thing that pointed this out was a single basil leaf as decoration. Although it was nice and creamy, the taste was still very boring. Definitely not recommended given the price and the very small size. Since good cocktails are explicitly advertised here, I deduct one star.

When the two started the restaurant, the food was absolutely amazing. Now it's mediocre. The papaya salad as a starter was outrageous for 13 euros. Service not interested.

Wir dachten anfangs - wir sind in einem take away gelandet, da der Eingangsbereich nicht sehr einladend ist. Doch sobald man das Lokal betreten hat ändert sich das Gefühl - Tolle Einrichtung, Essen top - die Ente kross wie sie sein soll! Der Cremant sehr gut, ebenso der Sauvignon blanc. Endlich mal ein Asiate wo man auch ordentlichen Wein für einen akeptablen Preis bekommt. Alles sehr schön angerichtet. Sehr aufmerksamer und freundlicher Service. Wir kommen wieder!

Kurz: Authentisch gut ! Frischer Geschmack, sehr aufmerksamer Service und gute Präsentation der schmackhaften Speisen. Auch unser großer gut erzogener Hund war herzlich willkommen und uns wurde ein anderer Tisch als geplant mit mehr Platz zugeteilt, obwohl der Gastraum voll war. Wir kommen gerne wieder , wenn wir in München sind.

The four of us were at Shimai on Saturday evening, at 6:00 p.m., before going to the cinema. We wanted to have a nice meal. Conclusion: We haven't experienced such a good, professional gastronomic performance for a long time. Everything was perfect, from the reservation to the farewell. Respect and compliments to the team. We would love to come back.

Our lunch at Shimai was absolutely delicious. The chicken wings and special duck buns were amazing as was the miso edamame guacamole. Plus the atmosphere was cozy and quiet, perfect for a Sunday lunch in November. Our server was kind and attentive. We highly recommend this little gem in Munich!

Auch hier war ich zum wiederholten Male Essen denn jeder hat eine zweite Chance verdient. Und ich muss sagen , dass unser Besuch diesmal ein Volltreffer war. Schöner Tisch sehr sehr aufmerksamer Service,freundlich und charmant noch dazu und das Essen einfach alles perfekt. Super leckere Garnelen Vorspeise und dann eines der geschmacklich besten Currys die ich in letzter Zeit außerhalb von Asien hatte. Toll wieder hier gewesen zu sein, auf Bald ✌🏽

Das Ambiente ist super gemütlich und einladend, dennoch sehr lebhaft, das Essen ist der absolute Wahnsinn, sowohl die Auswahl als auch der Geschmack, der Service ist erstklassig. Auch die Drinks sind hervorragend, eine große Auswahl an Whiskeys ist an der Bar vorhanden. Eine absolute Empfehlung!

Great restaurant, great food and good service. Really great! Only the way the guests are basically thrown out of the restaurant before and after the 2 hour blocking time has expired is questionable. Especially if you still have drinks. Tip: you have plenty of places outside with heaters, so you can kindly ask guests to sit down and drink up. Start being more creative. That's absolutely no problem, but don't ask guests to leave three times. That was completely wrong!!! Not worth repeating for me. It's a shame actually.

The food can generally be described as “okay” – attractively presented but incredibly overpriced for what you get. The "we only buy fresh ingredients" slogan doesn't impress me, the prices for quality food are not a state secret, and I expect a different level of execution in this price range. One exception was the tamarind chicken breast, which was incredibly dry, tough and completely overcooked. The cocktails were also mediocre: the Mojito was way too sweet, and the Munich Mule was tasteless. While the decor looks nice, it feels disjointed, the music doesn't make sense, and the service isn't particularly attentive or welcoming. Not once was I asked how our meal was. However, what really bothers me about this place is customer-unfriendly policies, such as: B. the requirement for an 8% surcharge if you want to pay separately, as well as the low level of communication, be it in English or German, which made paying unnecessarily tedious. I would like such places to recognize that separate payment is an integral part of German dining culture and not try to undermine this practice with hidden fees and money-making - especially given the already high prices charged here. I won't come back.

Good price/quality/quantity. We were 2 people and paid a good price. However I was not able to order what I usually order because they forgot to offer me an “extra menu” they have, and in which plates are different and good! Also, my friend order something “roll yourself” kind of thing and it is just messy and the waiter was a bit annoyed because she didn’t use some available ingredients, was weird to get such a angry feedback.

Really great food with well laid ambience! The menu is also somewhat unique, which makes it a great alternative to traditional Vietnamese restaurants!

I will write this more often in my reviews, but: Best store!!!1!!1 The ambience is awesome! You definitely have to try the dumplings. It is freshly cooked and served quickly. The staff was friendly and very attentive. You can also enjoy cocktails there. The selection is great and there are a lot of delicious own creations. The restaurant also has a good outdoor area. The store is a little more expensive, but it's also extremely worth it. Can only be recommended!

You are greeted in a friendly manner and the order goes great and quickly. The food was very tasty and is definitely worth recommending. One star for the service deduction because special requests can be made when making the reservation regarding events. I asked for a rose for my mother's birthday. Unfortunately this wasn't implemented, which isn't a problem in itself, but I would at least have liked to receive feedback. Nevertheless, it is a very good restaurant with delicious food.

we visited this place because it is an asian restaurant that has the best ratings and most reviews nearby our hotel. AND I COULDNT AGREE MORE! oh my god i wish i can eat here 3 time a day, everyday! i tried 2 menus: the basic/original pho beef, and the noodle dish with lime dressing. the basic pho beef soup: the soup has a very deep and thick and rich flavour. the beef was thick, but suprisingly EXTREMELY TENDER! the price was a very good deal with such flavours! the best soup and best beef i ever had among all vietnamese restaurants i had. i compared this review with another vietnamese restaurant near the Viktualienmarkt and around 10ish vietnamese restaurants i had in the UK. the service are excellent. they were very welcoming. as a tourist with new experience to be surrounded by bees while eating, i felt a bit worried with the bees near my bottles, but the waitress was very calm and helping to send away the bees.

Please be warned and very careful about this restaurant and when paying ask for your full bill. They are adding behind your back already a significant tip amount that they did not get your approval if you want to give a tip before. They have tried to do this to me twice now, (particular male waiter with glasses) The first time, I have decided not to post a review but second time means it's regular practice so I decided to post about it. If you don't watch out, you will end up paying a tip twice (if you want to pay a tip on your bill) This should be considered illegal/fraudulent practice and bad service so they get a one star for service Despite that also for being disorganized in terms of laying cutlery and bringing dishes (starters and main course). Their selection of deserts is limited and tastes like something I have bought before in a local supermarket freezer (the Mochi ice in particular) I would not recommend desserts here. Overall the food courses and atmosphere are nice. But I don't think I will be going back here since I see a lack of dignity (in service) which could be manifesting in other ways in the kitchen/behind the scenes. Quite unfortunate!

Sensational Asian before Corona, but after that the menu somehow changed and really great starters, for example tempura prawns in a mango chili sauce, were simply taken off the menu. Kitchen is still decent, but not anymore. Unique as before. The service is a bit overwhelmed and chaotic at peak times, but at least it's friendly. Unfortunately it's no longer my personal favorite. It's a shame, I celebrated the shop because of the appetizers.
