Schwerter Schankhaus & Hotel in Meißen

This is our third visit to this hotel and we were thrilled once again. The hotel room was wonderful, comfortable, and clean, with a view of the market. The food was excellent. We ate there every evening. Reservations are recommended, as it's a bit chilly on the terrace at this time of year. The bar isn't big, but it's incredibly cozy. The staff is friendly and very attentive. We felt completely at home again. We'll be back.

Tasty food and delicious beers from the Schwerter Brewery

Four of us were on a cycling tour and stayed at the Hotel Meissner Schwerter in Meissen. The welcome was warm, the service excellent, and the rooms very clean and comfortable – with a beautiful view of the market square. The restaurant is also highly recommended: delicious, freshly prepared dishes and a hearty breakfast. A wonderful stay in a prime location – we'd love to come back.

We were very satisfied. Reservations in the evening are recommended. The food was good, home-style, and the drinks (beer) were good. The outdoor seating was nice. 👍

I recently visited the Schwerter Schankhaus in Meißen and highly recommend a visit. Making a reservation via email was smooth and quick – a real plus. The ambiance is rustic and cozy, with thoughtful details that create a welcoming atmosphere. The food was impressive across the board: fresh, carefully prepared, and with an authentic flair. The menu offers a good selection of classic dishes served with a modern twist. The portions were also just right – not too generous, but absolutely filling. The friendly and attentive service is particularly noteworthy: you feel welcome here without feeling rushed. The staff took time to offer recommendations and were always concerned about our well-being. All in all, the Schwerter Schankhaus was a successful combination of stylish atmosphere, excellent food, and warm service for me. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

We had an all-around fantastic visit! The food was truly delicious – fresh, prepared with love, and of a high standard of flavor. Although we didn't quite manage to finish everything, we were able to take the leftovers home with us without any problem, which we greatly appreciated. The service was excellent: attentive, warm, and yet pleasantly unobtrusive. We immediately felt welcome. The value for money is also absolutely spot on – you're happy to pay for the quality of the food and the great service. A reservation is highly recommended. We'll definitely be back!

We were in Meissen again yesterday, strolling through the city, when we spontaneously decided to stop at the Schankhaus on the market. The employee, a trainee (very insecure and shy), took our drink order, and the drinks arrived fairly quickly. We looked at the menu and told him we needed a moment. We waited about 30 minutes, but unfortunately, we weren't served again and were completely ignored, including by the other young man (tattoo on his neck). When we then said we wanted to pay for our drinks, the response was quick. We addressed our situation matter-of-factly, but nothing happened; it wasn't addressed. It was also the first time for us that a server didn't receive a tip, but not for such service. It's a real shame for such a well-located restaurant; we ate there once a few years ago, and we were absolutely satisfied. In an industry like this, it is really important to find suitable specialists, and we also know that it is very difficult these days.

Huge portions, ordered a salad for two, in addition to meat dishes it turned out that the selected meat dishes include almost the same vegetables.. We barely coped. I liked the beer. There are dishes of the day, unfortunately the knuckle is not prepared on Thursday, but only on Fri and Sat. Patient and attentive staff. Initially we tried to have lunch in the restaurant opposite, the offered places were very inconvenient, the waiters are incompetent and inattentive. I recommend.

We stopped here for dinner during a short vacation. Making a reservation was a perfect fit, and I highly recommend it. The location on the market square, right next to the Frauenkirche, is perfect. As is the food and the extensive beer selection. The service is excellent, and they even take the time for a chat or two. You can't go wrong with a stop here.

Great historic hotel 👍with friendly staff. Food is delicious and very plentiful. The room is very large and everything is clean when I arrive. The towels are as hard as a board and the room wasn't cleaned for 2 days. But: shit happens.

We have been to this cozy restaurant many times, most recently about a week ago. But there three times in three days. It's always super delicious food and really friendly staff! It's a shame that the knuckle isn't always available, but there is enough to choose from. And the beer tastes good anyway! We'll be back soon, this time with an overnight stay. We are looking forward to it - see you soon!

We were in the restaurant yesterday and we really enjoyed it. The service fit in really well, created a cozy atmosphere, and the small menu was completely sufficient and tasty. The peach beer was great!!!

Quaint pub. You can also “just” drink something. Nice beer selection. That would be worth 5 points. A waiter spilled three drinks on my son's clothes. That can happen and it really made him uncomfortable. There would be no “point deduction” at all; We are all human and make mistakes. No problem at all and no reproach. The fact that the management / waitress (it would definitely have been a case of the management getting involved) then bluntly made us pay for all the drinks (5) we consumed cannot be surpassed in terms of rudeness. Wet watch, wet cell phone, soaking wet sweater, completely wet pants and in an adjacent shop we had to quickly buy something to wear for 140 euros and then had to cut our stay in Meißen short. Incredible, you don't just say (as a cashier) "sorry", but rather "how can we make this good?" or "Send us the cleaning bill" etc. We wouldn't have made an insurance claim out of it, but we would have expected so much etiquette (probably a foreign word).

Beds are a bit low, but everything is clean, great old restaurant. With a nice history. Breakfast was good, I was missing a bit of salmon 😉Staff is great, nice and friendly We'll be back

The small, historic hotel in the center of Meissen is highly recommended for a city trip; you're basically in the middle of it all. Since there were three of us traveling, it was great that we had two rooms, essentially a small apartment in the hotel. The room view (room 9) from the attic of the market, the town hall and the Frauenkirche was romantic. The glockenspiel of the Frauenkirche, 10 m away, acoustically enriched the visit to the hotel. The service was incredibly responsive and helpful; simply Saxon nice! The restaurant is quaint, the food is delicious and the Schwerter Bräu is simply tasty. In short: great city trip in a historically unique environment!

We were here for dinner. The waitresses and waiters were very friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and you never had to wait too long.

We went here twice for dinner over Christmas. A very cozy restaurant, friendly and fast service and excellent cuisine. According to my palate, it seems that the basics of Hungarian cuisine are incorporated here. If that is the case then I can only emphasize one thing "Finom"

Very nice, well-kept hotel right on the market. Rooms very clean and large. Bed was very comfortable. There is a self-service drinks machine in the hallway. The breakfast could still be improved a bit. A selection of vegetables would be nice. Sausage and cheese weren't very appealing either. Better a little less, but better quality. I can still recommend the hotel. It was a very nice stay.

The hotel is located directly at the market and the Frauenkirche. The room was clean and well furnished. The staff very accommodating and friendly. The only disadvantage for me was that the room had no window but only a balcony door. If you looked through these you could see exactly the windows and door straight across. This room and my room opened onto a shared small balcony.

Recession only applies to the restaurant. The very friendly young service staff couldn't make up for the chef's incompetence. We wanted to have lunch with a group of twelve people. The table was reserved, which was fine. The food took time to appear at the table. One could conclude that a lot of effort was put into the preparation. Unfortunately we were disappointed. Roasted meatballs very dark and chewy. Cheese spaetzle from the supermarket was very dry. Schnitzel from the hairdresser and not recommended for older people. Mutzbraten prepared with “a lot of love”. Liver cheese, well. Only the daily offering, the knuckle, was praised at the table.

We spent one night in the hotel from May 18th to May 19th. We thought it was beautiful there, great location with a view of the market square, lunch was very tasty and the breakfast was extensive and plentiful. We'll definitely come back again!!!

Time-honored hotel right on the market. Super friendly staff. The rooms are sufficiently large and well equipped. Not particularly suitable for people with walking difficulties, as steep stairs lead to the upper floors. Delicious food and an El Dorado for beer lovers. No direct parking option. You can stop in front of the house to load and unload.

We slept very well here for two nights. Super nice staff who fulfilled all of our wishes. Changing rooms from the third to the first floor was also no problem. The ambience and room furnishings were functional. There was no shortage.

I still have to think about it and how we can do it or should the money on the prize you can also win at the bank without paying for shipping or does it have to be paid for by the other provider too and if they didn't pay for it anymore then the amount would be too much and the delivery of the invoice is very expensive for the no longer needed information about rent for vacation

Went to this restaurant before going to the theater. Drinks were really tasty. Both fizzy drinks and beer are made here. However, the food really wasn't tasty. We had Mutzbraten and schnitzel. Mutzbraten was more reminiscent of a normal roast pork. The sauce with it was normal gravy - rather inappropriate. The schnitzel looked nothing like the delicious schnitzel in the picture with crispy breading. Under Schnitzel was more reminiscent of a frozen schnitzel dripping with fat. For over 16 euros it's almost an imposition. The fries were ok, but didn't taste like fresh fat. We can recommend the place for drinking, but definitely not for eating.

Small, great hotel with great cuisine

Wir waren eine Nacht im Hotel und jeder war sehr freundlich...egal ob beim Empfang, Abendessen, Frühstück oder bei der Verabschiedung. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und würden das Hotel und das Essen auf alle Fälle weiterempfehlen. Die Lage ist einfach top und zum Parkplatz muss man halt ein Stückchen laufen, aber das war für uns kein Problem.

Als Gäste im Hotel durften wir Abend keine Getränke im Schankhaus mehr zu uns nehmen, da sich spontan eine Geburtstagsrunde zusammen gefunden hat. Unerklärlich und nicht Gastfreundlich. Wir kommen definitiv nicht wieder.

Nettes kleines Gasthaus, freundliches Personal, saubere und große Zimmer. Zentral gelegen. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis unschlagbar. Perfekte Übernachtungsmöglichkeit für einen Kurztrip nach Meißen!

Direkt am Markt, man fällt auf den Weihnachtsmarkt hinein 😉 . Super. Essen und Frühstück absolut in Ordnung. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Wir haben hier ein schönes Wochenende verbracht. Meißen hat einen sehr schönen Weihnachtsmarkt. Und das Hotel liegt ja sehr zentral. Einziges Manko man muss außerhalb parken.

Nettes Restaurant mitten in Meißen. Gute Küche faire Preise. Extra nettes Personal!!! Schönes Ambiente mit flotten Sprüchen an den Wänden. Alles in allem sehr empfehlenswert.

Historisch pand op de markt van Meißen. Zeer vriendelijk bediening, prima ontbijt en uitstekende diner mogelijkheden. Verscheidene lekkere biersoorten.

Super Hotel, sehr nettes Personal. Vor allem sehr hundefreundlich. Tolles Restaurant und sehr schönes Frühstück. Wir würden immerwieder buchen.

Wir hatten ein Dreibettzimmer gebucht, super es gab eine Zwischentür diese Lösung habe ich noch nie gesehen. Zimmer hell gemütlich, sauber. Personal ist freundlich, Gaststätte liegt Zentral kann man empfehlen
