Despite the large audience, two seats were quickly found for us and we were served immediately. The view on the terrace is very nice. The service is very friendly and efficient. Despite the heat, it was a very pleasant stay.

I am very pleased with the restaurant, food, service and atmosphere. The food was very good, large portions, moderate prices. The "downside" is the fact that not everyone willing to mingle on the terrace overlooking the city.

It’s not very clear on the map how to get there, but it’s impossible to pass by! The place is beautiful, a gorgeous observation deck. One of the few places where you can have a hearty meal on the way to the castle

The nervous waitress spoiled the whole mood of a nice evening and a nice view from the terrace. Get ready for a long wait for food. And then you will be counted on for a long time. And if you are unlucky and you run into the same waitress, she will tell you that you make her nervous. Thank you for the "warm" welcome.

The most beautiful table in Meißen, at least when the weather is good, is on the terrace of the cathedral cellar. Friendly and attentive service quickly makes us forget what level of service we had previously experienced in Meißen. Certainly not a gourmet restaurant, but the price-performance ratio is absolutely fine for the location. Basically, I'd be happy to go back if there weren't a few places in Meißen with better food, even if they weren't in such a great location.

I can't find anything negative. We were there on Saturday August 10th. there. Had ordered beforehand. We were 13 people. 13 Food 13 times very good. Very good food, everything went quickly enough. Drinks came almost immediately after ordering. Unfortunately there is no space on the terrace with a view, which should be booked in advance. It was pleasant to see and read a lot between the toilets and the restaurant, I was well entertained.

We were there for our 40th wedding anniversary. Table decorated, super nice, competent staff, delicious food and great view over Meißen. There was also a small gift. Were there for the first time, but certainly not the last. Thanks to the team.

The food is very good. The restaurant has a beautiful terrace with beautiful views over Meißen. Unfortunately I sat next to a flat earther which spoiled the atmosphere a bit, but I still give it 5 stars because a beautiful girl asked for my number. After the visit the waiter came to apologize for the annoying man. In retrospect we can laugh about this.

Especially now (2020) it is important to support regional gastronomy. And here you can and should really do it. The staff is confident, friendly and even ready for a little joke. The food is excellent and freshly prepared. The ambience is rustic, cozy and perfectly matches the flair of the old building. You can choose between a great view over Meißen or the Meißen Cathedral and Albrechtsburg. Highly Recommended I'll give an update from 07/2024: Still absolutely great. The service, food and ambience continue to get full marks and I finally thought about taking pictures 😁

Sometimes you’re giving German restaurant another chance and just remember why you shouldn’t. But first about good things: as an oldest restaurant in the city it has according atmosphere and design. Another point-beautiful view from the terrace. If you want just vibe and beer-place for you. Service was also acceptable, but that’s all. Food: portions is not very big. If you’re coming here hungry after walking around the city, be ready to order a few dishes per person and leave here some money. Food was not hot and some parts of the dishes was questionable quality (for example, cucumber in salad tasted like it was laying outside of the fridge for some days). Meet had too much mustard, but it’s more of a personal taste. No vegan dishes, as always in German restaurants. Kitchen was nice to make baked potatoes without sour cream, but if you’re vegan it would be your only option here. In the end: it’s a dissent place to get some drinks in summer and enjoy the view. As a restaurant for dinner, you can do better even in this small town.

Restaurant with many years of tradition located in a very picturesque place. Very atmospheric and clean place. Service is nice and at a high level. Food is very good, served aesthetically, and the portions are large. Impressions after the visit are very positive. I highly recommend!

Urisch, with a beautiful view over Meißen - the food is very good! The prices are based on the height of the building next door (cathedral). But the service can't quite keep up - around 8 p.m. no one from the service staff was there for half an hour! We had an 11 year old with us - unfortunately no one offered us a children's ticket. Overall: Price-performance: not true!

After the open day in Meissen we went to Albrechtsburg to round off the day. Unfortunately the food wasn't that good. Most of us didn't like it. It's a shame given the view. The food is way too expensive for the quality. Maybe the chef was having a bad day? Service was friendly.

We were in the cathedral cellar on Sunday for my mother's birthday. Even the welcome was super nice. The chef brought us a little greeting from the kitchen, which was delicious. The main courses not only looked fantastic, they also tasted as delicious as they looked... Ice cream afterwards topped everything off. Price/performance was completely fine, I can definitely recommend the Domkeller!

Very good cuisine and service. The rustically furnished terrace initially makes a good visual impression thanks to the beautiful view of the city. Unfortunately, the tables are so close that you sit far too close to your neighbor and have to listen to every word spoken at a normal volume; zero privacy. Ergonomics of the tables and chairs/benches are terrible and therefore do not invite you to linger for a long time. Comfortable is something else.

Het eten was niet lekker, schnitzel was niet lekker, hoopje pasta? , wat champignons. Als ik zie wat we moesten betalen en wat je krijgt stond niet in verhouding. Ga zelf op onderzoek uit en je zult zeker wat beters vinden! Ik heb hier zeker niet lekker gegeten en als je daa as N ook nog eens 85,00 euro moet aftikken. Nogmaals ga zelf op onderzoek uit en laat de Domkeller links liggen.

A small rustic restaurant with delicious, good cuisine and a fantastic view from the terrace. v Tip, reserve a table in advance, it's worth it!!!

First of all: It's not exactly cheap, but the price-performance ratio is still right because you're offered an amazing view with very good food. You can look directly at the city of Meißen when you sit outside. A reservation is then recommended. The utensils such as sunglasses, sunscreen and binoculars that are available on every table are funny and practical. The sauerbraten and the country pork roast were perfect and tender. The caramelized poppy seed and semolina pudding with the asparagus ragout was sophisticated and very tasty at the same time. A great evening for my wife, who was able to end her birthday like this. Thanks!

Friendly staff, a not too large but nicely varied menu and, that can be the only conclusion, very good cuisine because for our group of seven the dishes arrived at the same time and the taste and freshness were optimal. Never had such a tasty cutlet before! And yes, that view is of course fantastic. For example, drink a nice Keller beer with it and you will have a nice evening.

The restaurant is wonderfully located, with a great view over the city. The food was very tasty. The service was great. The employees are always committed and on their toes. The table reservation could be made easily using a mobile phone. The response/confirmation was prompt.

We are currently visiting Meißen and got a table for dinner in the Dom Keller even without a reservation. The service staff was attentive and served us immediately. As a starter we had spiced meat, which was very tasty, but the bread that came with it was already burnt, black and dry. For the main course we had corn-fed chicken breast with asparagus and gnocchi and asparagus with parsley potatoes and salad. The gnocchi were inedible (this was due to both the taste and the consistency), asparagus and chicken breast were tasty, but the food was very, very oily. The vegetarian dish was overall okay, but I can't recommend it because the salad was missing the dressing and the rest of the food wasn't convincing either. Finally, we definitely expected more from the Dom Keller (especially for this price)!

There were 7 of us eating there with our children. It's just beautiful there. One drawback was that there was no Bautzen mustard with the grilled knuckle. A pity. Keep it up. Maybe Bautzen mustard will be available soon.

We were there yesterday, celebrating a birthday. We had a table at the upper balcony and the view was amazing- unfortunately this was the only positive thing about our experience. The service was polite, but completely overwhelmed and took forever to take and bring our order. Some of the drinks we had to ask several times for. We weren’t asked at all if everything was good with our food while eating, and when we complained to the waiter about one of our main courses- a salmon trout that tasted like mud, he said someone will be coming to us and left. After waiting for 10 minutes and realizing that nothing will be done about our complaint I took it upon myself to bring the full plate back inside where another employee finally paid us attention. Meanwhile behind us and next to us (inside) were seated parties of obviously important guests that had several waiters taking care of them and what made us feel even more out of place was the fact that both tables were prepared carefully with white table cloths, while our wasn’t. If you won’t bother taking care and treating all of your guests, that are seated in the same area equally, then don’t bother seating them in the same area! This is literally hospitality 101 and I hope whoever this review really concerns does something about it in the future as it’s just unacceptable. I am pretty sure we would have felt much more comfortable and wanted if we were seated downstairs with all other guests that also had no tablecloths on their tables. The grand finale to our fiasco was having to pay for the salmon trout we brought back, but at this point we already had no desire to make our day and the birthday of our family member even more of a negative experience by arguing about it. The generally positive reviews of this restaurant make me feel like this is not a standard for them, but I personally won’t be recommending it or coming back.

Excellent meal, I had the knuckle and it was the most tender I've ever had (although the crust could have been a little crispier). The service was also very good, quick and very friendly. There's basically nothing to say about the ambience on the Schlossberg in Meißen; when the weather is nice you can sit on a nice little terrace with a view over Meißen.

Feel-good atmosphere. Nice, friendly, attentive and courteous service, who has an eye for when and what is needed. Very tasty food which was served fairly quickly after ordering. The only complaint: you didn't get exactly what you ordered. For example, the pasta with basil pesto and mushrooms we ordered was missing mushrooms and instead came with carrots and other vegetables. All in all, it was still tasty and sufficient. The view from the heated panoramic terrace is absolutely worth seeing!

We had a birthday party with 12 people on Monday. The service and food was very good. The various rooms are also very comfortable. Can only be recommended. Parking at the house is also possible if it is free.

Great view over Meißen. There is also a cool blonde. Very friendly for children too. A good place to relax after climbing the Domberg and visiting the museum. Fair prices. Friendly service. Gladly again.

Lunch on the terrace in the beautiful sunshine. It doesn't get any better

Great restaurant on the castle hill in Meißen right next to the Albrechtsburg and the cathedral - including a view of the old town of Meißen. Ambiance with a historical touch and lovingly arranged with many references to Meißen. Beautiful terrace right on the castle hill. The food on offer is home-style, seasonal and a bit more expensive by Meissen standards, but the ambience makes up for it. We had a great waiter who always had a quick but witty saying on his lips - so you were happy when he came back to the table. Children's menu available. Reasonable wait times even though we were a large group. We were completely satisfied and would like to come back.

Good Friday, 1:30 p.m. The small dining room was well filled. We immediately felt at ease; Got a table, seconds later the friendly waitress was at the table. And the service remained excellent. Likewise the food for the three of us (perfect trout - vegetables swapped for asparagus for an additional charge - large, good chop after an excellent bread soup; beer goulash with matching beer). Unfortunately there wasn't enough for dessert because - despite being of different generations - we were more than full. Good local wine list. Prices are reasonable. Lots of staff, which contributes to a visible relaxation. The room is a bit cramped, but not for people who don't like taking the elevator. When the weather is good, you obviously sit outside anyway.

Romantic lunch in the Meißen cathedral cellar As a couple we had the pleasure of having lunch at Domkeller Meißen and it was just perfect. The Schieler from the Vincenz Richter winery was a refreshing start. The dish of the day, fish on wild garlic gnocchi, was a culinary highlight and was wonderfully rounded off by the Saxon egg pie and poppy seed pie as dessert. The finale was the Domkellergeist, a herbal liqueur that completed the taste experience. We can highly recommend the Domkeller – an ideal place for couples who want to enjoy a special meal.

So the food was great. No problem with the senior portion either. We didn't order, but we weren't turned away. Service is very good and the atmosphere is rustic, inviting, cozy. Full marks for that. And the view over MEISSEN and the Elbe valley is simply great

We had dinner here yesterday for Valentine's Day. The restaurant was very busy. Nevertheless, the service was absolutely friendly, personable and very patient. The food was absolutely amazing – unfortunately I can’t express it. Starters and main course were great. I have NEVER eaten such delicious sauerbraten! The menu is varied and the portions are generous. Even though the dining room was fully occupied, we received our food and drinks quickly. We are absolutely happy and the mountain rolled back to its stand "packed". Thank you very much for the great service and the great evening.

Enjoyed a very nice lunch in a cozy space! The schnitzel with cheese and fried potatoes, as well as the quark legs are recommended. The service was also very nice and quick, the food came to the table very quickly.

After a long drive we were craving something hearty and a good beer, and Domkeller exceeded our expectations. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. We enjoyed traditional, home-cooked meals prepared just like Mom's. The beef roulade with red cabbage and wrapped dumpling as well as the Dresden sauerbraten were delicious and were perfectly rounded off with a cloudy Meissen beer. Particularly noteworthy is the dessert, which was probably prepared according to a grandmother's recipe: a semolina pudding with poppy seeds and a caramelized layer, served with hot chocolate cherries. A real culinary delight! The ambience of the restaurant is beautiful and invites you to linger. We were completely satisfied and will definitely come back. An absolute recommendation! The cathedral cellar completely convinced us. Please keep it up!
