MEISSNER Schwerter in Meißen

Dined here after exploring the city and the food did not disappoint. I can’t even recall the names of the dishes, but every single dish me and my friends shared was absolutely delicious. We bought a total of 5 meat dishes and shared amongst ourselves. Also we had the beer tasting which in my opinion is absolutely worth it. If you feel adventurous and want to try a 10L barrel of beer for unbelievable price, you definitely should too.

Unfortunately, the food wasn't what the menu promised. In fact, some of it was downright bad. The trout and schnitzel came straight from the fryer and weren't really good. The French fries were soft and not really edible. The knuckle of pork and the seasoned beef were OK. But overall, the food...wasn't good. The young waitresses were attentive and polite. However, it's difficult when the food simply doesn't taste good, as the quality is completely subpar.

This place is in the center of Meissen. Restaurant on the main square of the Old Town. No special impressions, just a place with a nice view, touristy, to come and sit beautifully. Food for an amateur, in German style. The price is a bit high, the chairs on the terrace are uncomfortable. My legs were all in stripes from the hard wooden ribs. The service is good, they responded to requests and even let me taste a wine of my choice. I will come again, maybe I need to try beer and snacks. For young sophisticated tastes, it is worth thinking carefully, it may be a pity to spend money on less than ideal taste qualities. But it is definitely worth visiting to form your own impression.

Unfortunately, no, very poor service. And the food didn't impress me either. The young man who served us did everything wrong that would drive away customers.

I ate here for the second time and was also impressed. I've never eaten chicken coated in pumpkin seeds before, and it tasted very good.

The service was poorly organized; we had to wait a long time for our first order, even though the restaurant wasn't full. The food was okay, and the portions were normal-sized.

The best meal I've had in a long time. I highly recommend the Haxn. It took a little while to get a seat, but the service was super friendly. Prices are fair, and the beer is great. I highly recommend it.

Fantastic food, delicious beer! The outdoor terrace isn't all that different from any other, covered by umbrellas. What I don't blame solely on this restaurant is its tolerance of smokers. Eating is about enjoyment, and neither active nor passive smoking enhances the enjoyment of this excellent meal. I was particularly pleased with Ms. Glatt's warm manner, whose outstanding service made this restaurant visit a benchmark experience that will set new standards for years to come.

We had a glass of wine and beer with a bread plate for two here in the afternoon. A delicious little snack. The terrace is located directly on the market square with a view of it. The service is friendly and quick.

Happy to have finally found a restaurant that was open on a Friday afternoon... We sat down at this lovely spot on the market. Waiting... Waiting... Two waiters are present, but obviously not "responsive". Well, then you just go straight there, ask politely if you can place an order... You get the answer (a possibly humorous one) NO... It goes on in a similar way. Other guests are also amazed at the way the young waiter treats guests. Luckily the food was really good and the female staff was very friendly. The trainee in his second year of training may need an extra lesson in service and friendliness. This is not only important at work, but is helpful for every situation in life.

Fantastic schnitzel, breaded fish, salad, and what else? I'll check it tomorrow. In addition, a nice waiter who speaks Polish and gives a lot of joy while waiting for the dishes. For adults, I recommend Meissner Keller beer

Very good and tasty food. The service staff is very attentive and friendly.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed with our visit because, in our opinion, the black beer meat we ordered was really just roast pork with a weak gravy. Unfortunately we had to deduct a few points when it came to eating, but the service was very friendly.

We have had good experiences here, unfortunately there is one thing to complain about: the “ice cream of the season” did not state that it contains alcohol.

This restaurant is one of our favorites in Meißen. The food is very good, the beer is delicious and the service is friendly. You are always welcome with children. Thank you very much for the good service.

Roulade is made from the top shell and well filled with cucumber and bacon, the red cabbage is also prepared in-house and feels fried - delicious!

I'm probably at loggerheads with the catering industry in Meißen. Stopped in early in the evening as a third port of call; Get your desired spot in the window niche. Ate 2 knuckles with sauerkraut, drank 4 beers, 1 dessert, all in all €66.10. The previously friendly waiter comes with a mobile card reader and I pay by card. If I give him a 2 euro tip... he grabs it and grimaces. I ask, not enough? He goes away without a word.

Very attentive service, good home-style food, good location after visiting the cathedral and Albrechtsburg. We felt comfortable. Price-performance ratio balanced.

This restaurant is absolutely worth a visit. There is a rustic atmosphere with very friendly waitresses. It's really difficult to choose thanks to the extensive menu, because everything just sounds good. We were also completely impressed by the food, nice and down-to-earth and very tasty. All in all, we would definitely come here again on our next visit to Meißen.

We visit Meissen once a year and always enjoy coming to this restaurant. So far we have always been very satisfied, the food was tasty, the service was friendly and the beer was first class. But this year the disappointment was great. It started at midday with an attempt to book seats for the evening. Apparently nothing would be free anymore. In the evening, oh wonder, there were a few free seats. The schnitzel wasn't worth the effort. It was of poor quality hidden under thick breading. Went back without getting any feedback from the restaurant. Disappointing. On a positive note, the beer's consistently good quality is positive.

Stopped by on the way to maissen factory. Located in the heart of city center square, serving typical German foods and Maissen beer. Good food, but what I liked the most about was very friendly staff there. If you are not sure where to lunch or dinner, difinetly this place can be a place to think about.

The service was listless and incompetent. mushy and told you that you were stupid, exhausting and that you should be delighted that she even deigned to pay attention to you. When asked to be a little friendlier, she stopped the service. If you are not capable of normal social interaction, you should not be a customer-facing service worker

We were there for dinner and had a good meal. With starters and main course, the two of us paid 72 euros. The food was good. The ragout fin was unfortunately a bit bland, but with a lot of poultry meat. The main courses were super tasty. Since I don't like eating pork dishes, the waitress offered to serve me chicken instead of the pork schnitzel. I gladly accepted that. We enjoyed the evening.

Very slow service. We were afraid that we wouldn’t have time to eat before the kitchen closed. But when the food arrived, all the worries went away. The portions are large, delicious national German cuisine. Lots of beef dishes. Luxurious beer and young wines from our own vineyards. Something you should definitely try when visiting Meissen. Beautiful coasters for glasses as a souvenir;)🍻 We sat outside, but the space inside was very authentic. The restaurant is located in the building of the city hall (town hall) By the way, footage from the farm “17 Moments of Spring” was filmed on this square

We got the best black beer goulash from all of Saxony there. And the house beer is the best.

Beautifully located brewery bar on the south side of the market, you have a good view of the town hall. The beer selection and quality are very good.

Unfortunately, the waitress took the menu out of our hand and did not allow us to see the dishes on offer. If this is the service here, it is better to go to the competition, where they allow you to look at the menu and decide whether it is worth sitting in the restaurant.

The food is an imposition... typical for the brewery chain. Just as underground as in Moritzburg. This has nothing to do with cooking!!!! My money is definitely going somewhere else...start thinking again 🙉🙊🙈

Very nice service, excellent beer from the brewery in Meissen. You can also eat traditional German cuisine on site. A great place to relax during your visit to Meissen.

We've eaten here twice in the past year and it's always been delicious. This time (Sunday lunchtime, May 2nd) we were disappointed with the grilled knuckle. The knuckle wasn't cooked properly, the sauerkraut tasted like it came from a can and was mixed with carrots, and the beer sauce was too salty. Just a shame.

Food was good, service was afterwards only as a hearing aid wearer it was very, very loud.....

We actually come here regularly, usually with visitors from outside, and have always been very satisfied. But having to wait 1.5 hours on Sunday afternoon for seasoned meat and brawn with fried potatoes, despite repeated patient requests and not being able to get it - that's probably pretty tough. The highlight was the excuse that the computer was to blame. Apparently the waitress doesn't talk to the kitchen staff. But at least the beer tasted good. A pity

Anyone looking for home-style cuisine and a good selection of regional beer is definitely in good hands at this very centrally located location right on the market square. Delicious beer and decent portions of food, as well as extremely friendly service, make a visit here an entertaining experience. The restaurant can be recommended without reservation.

We had lunch here and I would describe it as "okay". First of all, the service was friendly and everything went relatively quickly. Can't say anything. The food wasn't bad, but it was extra oily, so not suitable for people with quick heartburn 😅. But what “disturbed” me the most was the ambience. It all seemed a bit old-fashioned, but not in a good way. And the music was even stranger. The radio and pop music were playing. That didn't fit into the atmosphere at all. Maybe you can find something more neutral. 😌

We came there with 14 people on Whit Monday without a reservation and were given such a friendly welcome! Even the individual billing didn't bother the staff. The food was delicious, the kitchen was open even after 2 p.m. and we were so pleasantly surprised that we can definitely recommend it.

We were in this establishment for the first time I liked the service, the staff is friendly and well-versed in the menu The beer is tasty, but it could be better. I also liked the tea. There is a seasonal menu with asparagus. The facility is located in the center of the old town.

I ate very delicious asparagus, unfortunately I was too hungry 🍽, it could have been a little more. 😊 The service staff are very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere in the market square in the evening was beautiful.

A very good restaurant right on the Meissen market. The service is professional and particularly friendly. The dishes on offer taste very good and are well prepared. The home-made beer is excellent. There were 6 types of beer to choose from and tried. The restaurant is rustically furnished and very cozy. The restaurant has been visited several times and we have never been disappointed.

Top restaurant in a good location on the market with professional service. About the food: My cheese spaetzle tasted very good, they were also nicely presented in a pan. The drinks were brought promptly and the food was also quick. The service was friendly and competent - we always asked if we would like anything else. Schmackhaftes,gutes Essen in urigem Ambiente. Überwiegend traditionelle ungarische & eher klassische deutsche Küche. Der Kellner an dem Tag,konnte leider bei der Essenberatung wenig weiterhelfen😕.Schade,ihm fehlten etwas die Worte🤷🏽‍♂️. Aber:Eine sehr große Auswahl an 🍻sorten& vorallem auch Frauenfreundliche👍🏼( 3verschd.) Biergrößen. Am Ende trinkt Frau mehr(wenn sie gern 🍺 trinkt) , weil sie noch andere 😋Sorten probieren möchte. Ziel erreicht,da Umsatzsteigernd!

Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und das Essen war ausgezeichnet. Die Haxe war super und die Portionen völlig ausreichend. Gerne wieder. Auf dem Marktplatz in Meißen hat das Restaurant auch eine top Lage.

Ich habe nicht dort gegessen, aber was an den Nachbartischen serviert wurde, sah sehr lecker aus. Es gibt eine große Auswahl an Bieren vom Fass. Mir hat das Kellerbier am besten geschmeckt, Es gibt aber auch Pils, Schwarzbier oder verschiedene Saisonbiere.

Die Brauereiführung war ein besonders Erlebnis. Ein junger Brauer machte uns mit der Geschichte der Brauerei und den Produktionsabläufen vertraut. Er wusste uns in seiner frischen Art zu überzeugen. Vier Sorten wurden dabei verkostet und machten Appetit auf mehr. Die Zeit verging wie im Fluge. Sehr empfehlenswert!
